Suning and MGM unveil 5* Bellagio hotel in Shanghai Hotel Suning Real Estate – a subsidiary of China’s commercial giant Suning Holdings Group – and MGM will officially recently launched the new Bellagio Shanghai, marking the first international hotel to follow the famous Bellagio Towers of Las Vegas. Ideally located on the banks of the Suzhou River, the artdeco inspired Bellagio Shanghai boasts panoramic views of the futuristic Pudong skyline, the Bund’s famed waterfront promenade and the Lujiazui financial district. With nearby locations including Nanjing Road, one of the world’s busiest shopping streets, and China’s tallest building, the 632 metre tall Shanghai Tower, the hotel is perfectly placed for an elite clientele in China’s biggest city. Among the design features of the Bellagio Shanghai is a four-storey atrium fitted with LED screens, creating a mirage of the world-famous fountain in front of its Las Vegas sibling.

As the business owner of the Bellagio Shanghai, Suning Real Estate will oversee and co-manage the hotel’s operations alongside the Chinese arm of MGM Resorts International: Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality. The deal reflects the importance that Suning, one of the largest non-state owned enterprises in China, is embarking on a new chapter of diversified consumption scenarios and luxury experience spaces. This summer a new bar will bring a touch of plant life to Fitzrovia. Mr Fogg’s House of Botanicals will take guests on a sensory journey to an enchanted land of plants, herbs and spices that intrepid traveller, Phileas Fogg has brought back from his Around the World in 80 Days voyage. Mr Fogg’s House of Botanicals is the latest project from Charlie Gilkes and Duncan Stirling’s Inception Group, and will showcase the fruits of Mr Fogg’s travels across two floors of exotic flora and fauna. Located on the corner of Newman Street and Goodge Street, Mr Fogg’s House of Botanicals will showcase a magnificent display of the explorer’s botanical acquisitions and eccentric souvenirs of his global adventures. A perfect complement to the exquisite Mayfair Mr Fogg’ Residence, the space will be flooded with natural light with large sash windows and ceilings high enough for the tallest of trees, creating a sense of bright airiness throughout. From the moment they arrive, guests will leave the bustling streets behind them and enter a verdant Victorian paradise. The downstairs area will feature an intimate seating area shrouded in plants, plenty of hanging ivy and a beautifully crafted handmade oak wooden bar surrounded by floriferous foliage. Colourful greenery from the furthest reaches of the globe and antique horticultural prints will proudly adorn the richly lacquered wood panelling.

Mr Fogg’s adventurous team have excelled themselves again in creating two unforgettable drinking experiences across both floors. The downstairs cocktail menu will showcase Mr Fogg’s most unusual botanical finds with Amazonian plants, luscious leaves and tonguetingling spices just some of the flavours guests will be able to explore and experiment with. Head upstairs and discover a more intimate cocktail experience: The Secret Language of Flowers Menu. Inspired by the Victorian tradition of expressing secret emotions through the giving of certain flowers, each drink will represent a different flower and feeling, from love to forgiveness. Intrepid guests can indulge inside Mr Fogg’s Glass House, a place of invention and exploration. The Glass House, complete with an endless array of experimental Kilner jar infusions to choose from, will be available to hire for everything from floral cocktail master classes to guided tasting parties.

Global Hospitality Design Competition Now Accepting Entries The Vision Style Awards, powered by textile company Vision Support Services, are now calling on hotels, bed and breakfasts, spas, bars and restaurants to enter their stylish venues into a global design competition as they return for 2018. The Vision Style Awards recognise excellence in interior design and individual style from across the hospitality sector. The restaurant has several zones, each requiring a different lighting solution. The main eating area is a galleried double-height space with open ceilings, where suspended track lighting is used to direct light onto the tables. The track is in slender lighting profiles, incorporating random white and colour-changing lit sections. The profiles are installed at various heights and orientations to create an interesting look that works with the exposed services. Other areas include VIP rooms, a private whiskey bar, seafood bar and art gallery. The VIP rooms include colour-changing lighting concealed in ceiling coffers and surface-mounted downlights. Northern Powerhouse Developments completes the exchange of contracts on historic Yorkshire hotel Hotel Hotel and leisure developers Northern Powerhouse Developments adds the iconic and beautiful Monk Fryston Hall to its estate as the company realises yet another key addition for its acquisition plan for 2018. The Yorkshire-based group can today announce it exchanged contracts on the Grade II listed property in between Leeds and York. Once completed, the purchase will take the number of UK hotels owned by NPD to 14 and with plans for a multi-million-pound
renovation, the historic hall will be another impressive addition to its flagship Manor Collection. Northern Powerhouse Developments
Dating back to the 12th century, Monk Fryston Hall, which is surrounded by 30 acres of parkland, woodland trails and gardens, was originally home to the Benedictine monks from nearby Selby Abbey. It later boasted its own private zoo and NPD, which has its headquarters in Halifax, is looking forward to adding a new chapter to the building’s already long and impressive history. The hotel will remain open throughout the planned rolling programme of renovations, which include upgrading the 30 bedrooms and existing terrace restaurant and building a new luxury spa complex. Already a popular choice for weddings, under NPD’s proposals the hotel’s two large function rooms will also be sympathetically refurbished. The successful purchase of Monk Fryston Hall represents a major coup for NPD and further boosts its Yorkshire based portfolio, which also includes the Imperial Crown Hotel in Halifax, the Old Golf House Hotel in Huddersfield and Scarborough’s Esplanade Hotel and we hear they are soon to announce another. A beautiful sustainable seafood restaurant inspired by laid back beachside dining opens in West London Restaurant Bucket, the new restaurant and bar, serving up sustainably sourced seafood, by the bucketful, has opened on Westbourne Grove, West London. The phased refurbishment of both private rooms and the elegant public spaces of a Manchester hotel has been successfully completed with a member of the Steel Window Association, The Cotswold Casements Company, playing a pivotal role in the supply and installation of screens and doors.
JKS Restaurants invited Noble Russell to provide the bespoke furniture for Brigadiers - a new bar and restaurant situated in the Bloomberg Arcade, London - with elegant interior design by BradyWilliams. Noble Russell has created over eighty metres of banquette seating, along with hand-crafted dining chairs, bar stools, and highly-polished dining tables. The furniture was completed and installed by Noble Russell’s expert team on budget and in time for the opening in early June.
