machine but produces masterpieces based on espresso right in front of the visitor’s eyes!
in such a way that, right from the entrance, guest’s attention is drawn to the bar!
One of the characteristics that differentiates this cafe from the others is the use by the barista of compact Modbar machines instead of the classic ones.
Even at the dawn of the concept development, the founders decided to entrust the interior and brand identity of the bar to the famous Ukrainian designers and owners of the studio YUDIN Design.
The design of the bar counter resembles the letter U and is a glass showcase under which the designers have laid 1300 tablets of coffee pomace!
Modbar is visually a single piston and a compact press. The cost and quality of this equipment is comparable to that of Tesla relatively to the vehicles. Therefore, the owners of PRO Espresso bar asked the founders of YUDIN Design studio to pay all their attention in the interior to the progressive devices and the skills of the barista, who is finally not hidden behind the
Vladimir and Aleksandr Yudin have been specializing in working for HoReCa for about 20 years and are able to create brand symbols that also reveal the essence of the locations. According to their plan, the interior of PRO Espresso bar has no partitions or massive structures, but the entire space is organized
The emphasis on professionalism can be easily traced in the naming proposed by Aleksandr and Vladimir Yudin; “PRO” indicates that this is a brand for true connoisseurs of coffee and makes it clear the concept of the location: everything is about coffee here! “We designed a real hard-brewed coffee logo! The letter “O”, in the form of a regular circle connected with a dash, resembles a holder’s lever, which is

an extension of the barista’s hand. This is one of the most important skill gadgets and an instrument with which the barista is constantly in contact”, Vladimir Yudin explains. The continuation of the identity in the interior is realized with the help of a dynamic print on the walls - a symbol of the pace at which the team of PRO Espresso works. To show the progressiveness of this coffee bar in the interior, the founders of YUDIN Design used a calm color scheme, sleek and streamlined shapes, while panoramic windows evoke a feeling of confidence, stability and comfort. In general terms, the style of the interior can be delineated as Scandinavian futurism. Especially for cosmopolitan bar visitors, the designers have developed original tables with a recess for bags in the shape of a letter U.
“Some difficulty arose with the implementation of our idea to smoothly bend the shapes of oak tables and woodworkers”, Aleksandr Yudin claims. “Many were simply afraid to take on the promise of producing these tables on time but we did it: each table consists of several parts which is the secret of manufacturing. At the same time, externally, the product looks like a one-piece bent shape - as we intended ”. The other tables, for one person, are interesting for their cores in the center of the countertops, where real coffee beans are poured. Wireless chargers are built into almost every piece of furniture. For the implementation of the project, natural oak, glass, metal, and concrete were WEBSITE: www.cbsolarshading.co.uk/commercial

THE LOCALE APP
Sunderland To Pilot Trailblazing Real Time App... A UNIQUE app which allows visitors and local people to navigate their way around attractions, hospitality and leisure venues is to be piloted in Sunderland before being rolled out nationwide. The Locale has been developed to benefit both businesses and users, providing real-time information about what bars, restaurants, cafes, retail and other cultural outlets have to offer. The creators believe it is now going to be more valuable than ever to organisations, with its ability to give up to date information about social distancing, queues and promotional deals at venues across the city centre. The Locale has been working closely with Sunderland BID to launch the app, with plans to then bring on board other North East towns and cities before growing it into a nationwide network. Grant Thompson, founder of the company, said that a number of Sunderland businesses had already signed up, including The Engine Room and Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens and he is excited about more businesses getting involved.
The Locale has been in development for a number of years but was reworked to factor in the impact of the “new normal” post Covid. “What it allows us to do is to communicate on behalf of venues in real time so they are able to share their information,” he said. “It will tell people when they are open, what the queues are like, how long they may have to wait and can also navigate customers towards the venues. “It can showcase what a venue has to offer and any special information they want to share. “It also gives businesses the opportunity to promote their Covid procedures so that customers will feel confident, comfortable and safe to visit.” The app – which can be downloaded from the app store or via the website at https:// thelocale.info/ – is currently free for both customers and businesses and anyone wanting to sign their venue up should contact info@thelocale.info
WEBSITE: www.thelocale.info
“It is acting as a digital clicker for the venues giving confidence to the public to know how many people are in the venues in real time.” said Grant. “It’s also a fantastic way to get people to become familiar with ease of use technology such as augmented reality and we are integrating a track and trace system, bringing even more benefits to the businesses. “We have had a great response so far, but we are hoping to encourage more Sunderland businesses to get on board with this free product.” Sharon Appleby, Head of Business Operations at Sunderland BID said she was delighted The Locale was being piloted in the city. “This is great opportunity for city centre businesses to be the first in the country to try an augmented reality app which can provide up to the minute information. “We hope everyone will get behind it and sign up to be involved.”

BEVERLECS
Imagine A Bar System That Automatically Accounts For Every Drink Poured WHO ARE BEVERLECS?
HOW DO SMARTBARS WORK?
OUR SMARTBARS SOLUTIONS
Beverlecs is a family run business and together our team has over 100 years electronic, engineering and software experience.
Basically, SmartBars use a unique combination of intelligent drink dispensers that cleverly communicate with our autonomous point of sale (APOS) management system. Our next generation POS system controls the stock from the cellar right through to every authorised drink poured behind the bar – providing cloud-based operational data whenever you need it.
Our products are completely modular in concept and design, allowing us to create bespoke solutions to suit your business needs.
We started Beverlecs with the goal of improving the working environment for all staff in the hospitality industry, whilst also tackling the significant lack of accurate management data and stock security which results in enormous losses and reduced profits. Over the past two decades we have devoted our time to researching and designing the ultimate bar management system that not only makes running your bar more efficient, it can dramatically reduce wastage, increase staff productivity and help you manage stock using valuable cloud-based data. And most importantly, it will increase the profitability of your business. Our ground-breaking bar management solution is called Beverlecs SmartBars. And we believe this system will become the standard format for the future and addresses all current issues in the hospitality industry.
HOW CAN SMARTBARS BENEFIT ME? • • • • • • • • •

BEHIND THE BAR
THE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
THE MOBILE BAR
Our intelligent dispensing components have been designed to integrate with existing beer lines, draught wine fonts, back-bar fridges, and provides like for-like replacement of optics. And it’s this technology that allows the system to account for all authorised drinks poured and stock removed.
Unlike traditional EPOS systems that only record sales data based on manual input from memory, our autonomous point of sale (APOS) management system, automatically collects data for every single transaction to provide a live and accurate view of how your business is performing.
Our range of mobile bars use the same unique technology but with the added benefit of customers being able to serve themselves and they’re cashless. The self-service bar has been designed so that customers and staff can serve themselves from both sides of the bar – therefore helping to effectively manage social distancing.
For complete visibility, all drinks served are automatically displayed on the integrated Smart Screen for both the server and customer to see - reducing risk of human error and keeping a log of personal sales data.
As well as accounting for drinks poured our system also intelligently knows exactly where stock is 24/7, which means time-consuming stock auditing is history.

There will also be a bigger delicatessen, offering an abundance of charcuterie and cheeses; plus, more loose goods to encourage shoppers to reduce their plastic consumption and change shopping habits for the better.
“Here at Macknade, we measure our success by our ability to create environmental & social harmony within the local community. Our aim is that this new expansion will facilitate more job opportunities for the Ashford area, as well as continuing to be enjoyed by shoppers and diners as a safe space that welcomes everyone from all walks of life. The opportunities here in Ashford are huge and we are a key partner in supporting the growth of hospitality & leisure in the town, particularly in the evenings.” Says Shane. W8R APP
North East App Helping The Hospitality Industry... A FORWARD-thinking app which had been put on the back burner is now proving a great tool to help the hospitality industry fight some of the challenges caused by Covid-19. And its creators have quickly adapted it yet again so that it can still benefit businesses during the latest lockdown. W8R was first devised three years ago by North East entrepreneur and software developer, Kalvin Banks, who believed the way forward would be for people to be able to order at restaurants and bars direct from their smart device. Other business commitments meant that Kalvin had to put the plan on ice – until coronavirus hit and he recognised the value the tableside software could bring to hospitality. In recent times the W8R app has proved a huge success – with plans to roll it out nationwide. The app acts as a virtual waiter, allowing customers to order and pay for food and drink via their phone by scanning a QR code at the venue. Along with being convenient for customers, bars and restaurants which have signed up have also found it has helped boost sales, because of the ability to be able to order directly. And now its fast-thinking creators have also added in a new element, which allows customers to use it to order via click and collect or to have food delivered. Venues using the app, with the additional features, are also helping support the local economy as well as being able to use it to promote their offering to their customer base. W8R has now created new QR codes which venues can share via social media, which customers just need to scan to get access to menus and to place their order. “We have had venues tell us that they wouldn’t have survived without W8R because it’s so convenient and efficient,” said Kalvin. “It helps with a faster turnover so more customers which is very important in these times with restricted numbers as there’s no waiting for bills or for staff to come and serve – it’s all done via the app.
“Since the news of a further lockdown we have worked to add in a new element so that bars and restaurants can still generate sales through delivery or click and collect.” Kalvin is running the business alongside colleagues Christiano Crawford, who has vast experience of working in hospitality with some of the region’s top clubs and pubs and Chris Blench, who is bringing his expertise of taking products to market across a range of industries. “I had first come up with this idea back in 2017 because I absolutely believed this was going to be the way forward and this kind of app was only available in Asia at the time,” said Kalvin. “And when the hospitality industry was about to open again after lockdown I realised that it offered a perfect solution and so we worked solidly on it so that it was ready for the day venues were back in business.” While currently most of the app’s venue are in the North East, there have also been sign-ups in London, Birmingham, Sheffield, Leeds and Nottingham. Operators who are already using the app are full of praise. Gordon Codona, who owns Players bars across the country including in Newcastle, said that it had made a “massive difference.” “We initially put it in one venue to try and now we have it in all of them,” he said.
WEBSITE: www.W8R.com
“Under normal circumstances we are vertical drinking venues but we had to adapt when people could no longer stand at the bar. “W8R has allowed us to be really efficient and get orders to customers quickly which is really important and it has played a huge part in us being able to stay open.” His words were echoed by Terry Haley, who owns The Drunken Duck, The Old Elm Tree and The Angel in Durham. “The app has helped us find a way to operate in this current situation,” he said. “We tried it out in one of our bars and it worked so well we have it in all of them now. “It just made everything so much easier for us and allowed us to be able to adapt really quickly.” Christiano said the app had also provided a great way for venues to upsell. “Because you’ve got the menu in front of you and you can order directly, there’s no waiting about,” he said. “Customers just sit down and start to order and the technology is able to convey which table they are sitting at so that the order comes straight to them with no need to input table numbers or anything like that – it’s purely all done by the QR code.” Users can download the app for free via the app store or Google play. BEVERLECS
Make Your Business More Profitable With Beverlecs SmartBars Have you ever imagined having a bar management system that automatically takes account for all drinks stored in the cellar, right through to every drink poured behind the bar? Well, with Beverlecs SmartBars this is possible.
unrealistically high allowances for stock losses, errors and reduced profitability. We believe SmartBars will tackle these issues by only allowing authorised transactions to take place and therefore increasing the profitability of your business.
Hard to believe I know, but Beverlecs have launched a revolutionary bar management system called SmartBars that can dramatically reduce wastage and losses, improve the efficiency of your bar, and help manage stock using valuable cloud-based data. The automated system accurately accounts for all drinks in the cellar right through to every drink poured - giving you maximum control 24/7.
SO HOW DOES IT WORK I HEAR YOU ASKING?
authorised, using a Smart Key. APOS, our cloud-based management system is the first of a new generation of POS systems that digitally identifies every drink poured or bottle served by brand, quantity, price, sales total and server ID. It continually collects data for every single transaction carried out to provide a live and accurate view of how your business is performing.
Basically, SmartBars use a unique combination of intelligent drink dispensers that cleverly communicate with our autonomous point of sale management system, APOS. The intelligent dispensing components we produce can easily fit within your existing bar set up. They have been designed to integrate with standard bar dispensing equipment including beer pumps, draught wine and bottles, fridge shelves and spirits. The components pour beverages at selected measures when
Working in a bar that has SmartBars technology will massively improve efficiencies and therefore give bar staff more time to deliver exceptional customer service. They’ll also have peace of mind that all drinks they serve are automatically priced and displayed on the integrated Smart Screen for both them and their customers to see – reducing risk of human error, stock inaccuracies and keeping a log of their personal sales data.
This sophisticated system has been designed to overcome significant lack of accurate management information and stock security within the licensed trade today, resulting in

IT SOUNDS LIKE IT’S GOING TO BE A HASSLE. You may think installing a new system like this is going to be a real upheaval but in fact the system has been designed so it can easily be integrated with your current bar set up. SmartBars are modular in concept and design so bespoke systems can be created specifically to your business needs. If you would like to find out more, visit beverlecs. com or call 0800 689 5061. At Beverlecs we believe the SmartBars system could help re-energise your business, especially at a time when the pandemic is having a huge impact on the hospitality industry. And like many others, I’m sure you’ll be looking for cost effective ways to continue operating your business to hopefully come out the other side. So whether you run a pub, restaurant, hotel or any hospitality venue, maybe a mobile self-service bar could be a great asset for your business too. Beverlecs have designed a mobile bar that not only looks good, it also uses the same unique technology designed for SmartBars but with the added benefit of customers and servers being able to serve themselves from both sides of the bar – and it’s cashless!
Again, you can configure this bar to your own requirements depending on whether you’d like it to hold beer only, wine only or all beverages. Or maybe you’d only need to offer the most popular brands – either way, the choice is yours. Our mobile bars have so many benefits and especially in a time when the hospitality industry is being massively impacted by Corona Virus, we believe a self-service bar could help in many ways: • •
Self-service - Authorised customers and staff can serve themselves Mobile - Ability to move your bar inside or outside depending on the weather or event

Cashless transactions – no cash is needed, customers set up an account Smart Key– every authroised customer and member of staff will have their own Smart Key to access the bar Reduced queuing – no more waiting at the bar to be served for both servers and customers Integrated with SmartBars – all transactions are recorded in the cloudbased system

WAHACA AND POPLAR STUDIO
Wahaca And Poplar Studio Team Up To Launch Interactive AR Menus Brands collaborate to bring to life the vibrancy of Mexican food through augmented reality Poplar Studio, a leading 3D and AR creative platform, has joined forces with popular Mexican restaurant group Wahaca on a new augmented reality (AR) menu to showcase its dishes and create an interactive customer experience. The Web AR effect will enable customers to interact with the menu - the first of its kind in the UK - by scanning a QR code which has been printed on more than 60,000 physical Wahaca menus with their smartphone. The experience will project AR information on top of existing physical menus which will not only allow customers to navigate the menu but also access pictures of dishes, descriptions, and even additional information such as ingredients, allergens and sustainability practices.
Customers can now enjoy top-notch Mexican cuisine alongside an inspiring customer experience as the AR effect is accessible to all customers with a smartphone. Those who use it will find themselves being greeted by an animated 3D model of Wahaca co-founder Thomasina Miers, who will instruct them through the AR experience.. Poplar Studio CEO David Ripert commented: “We’re delighted to be working with Wahaca - a pioneer in the food and drink industry - on bringing its menus to life. AR is the perfect technology for restaurants looking to enhance their customer experience in unique and exciting ways. We believe interactive menus are just the beginning. It’s great to see Wahaca taking the initiative to engage customers through the use of innovative technology.” Wahaca’s Co-founder Mark Selby added: “At Wahaca we have always sought to inspire our guests, both in the restaurant with our food

and service and in the wider world. We’re very excited about collaborating with Poplar Studio as this AR experience brings our menu to life to visually inspire our customers about our food, ingredients and sustainability. ” Thanks to a CMS acquired by Poplar during its recent acquisition of Svrf, Wahaca will itself be able to upload and manage the AR menu experience when they need changing over time. AR experiences don’t usually come with a CMS element attached meaning the content is usually fixed, requiring additional AR development and cost for changes to be made. The integration however, will enable Wahaca to update the name, description colours and photos from dishes without those additional costs. The AR experience will also be linked to a digital payment system to enable contact-free payments directly from the customers table, enhancing customer experience while keeping customers and staff safe.

CHATEAU DENMARK
Introducing Chateau Denmark Hotel Experience A REIMAGINED PERSPECTIVE ON THE APARTMENT & ‘HOTEL’ EXPERIENCE OPENING 2021 IN LONDON’S DENMARK STREET Inspired by the birthplace of the British music scene, Chateau Denmark will boldly reflect Denmark Street’s best loved sentiment; creative expression. Capturing a sense of escapism throughout its 55 rooms and apartments, Chateau Denmark will open in London’s famous Denmark Street in the summer of 2021. The street, well documented in history, is where The Rolling Stones recorded their first album, Jimi Hendrix often frequented, the Sex Pistols once lived, Chrissie Hynde spent time and of course where many believe, Ziggy Stardust was born. Chateau Denmark is a new brand from immersive media district Outernet Global in collaboration with leading hospitality personality Carrie Wicks’ CAW Ventures. With a strong sense of place, Chateau Denmark balances striking architectural detail, rich cultural heritage and modern craftsmanship. The rooms are set across 16 characterful buildings in and around Denmark Street, a place with possibly the only thoroughfare in central London to have retained its original 17th Century facades on both sides. Many of the buildings’ original features have been lovingly restored to reflect their original time and place.
Chateau Denmark connects these notable yet diverse buildings, with a promise that will exist not only through design but also in service, people and spirit. Simply put, Chateau is a new marker for the way in which things will be done. Designed by renowned interiors team Taylor Howes, the overall design narrative invokes a time where punk, rock and gothic meets grandeur and psychedelia. Affectionately nicknamed ‘Session rooms’, many of the 55 rooms have their own individual stories referencing musical and other lengthy happenings that once took place on the street. A further embrace of Soho’s spirited and creative culture, Chateau Denmark is fuelled by the bold and the playful. As a wholly unique design intent, the rooms have four distinct narratives, best described as a figurative journey through Denmark Street’s prolific days. ‘Vintage Gothic’ captures a particular charm and presents dramatic intrigue, while ‘Timeless Grandeur’ offers an opulent and indulgent Victorian-era aesthetic. ‘Modern Psychedelia’ brings 60s and 70s London to life through texture, finishes and striking palettes. ‘Punk Now’ is a modern interpretation of the raw, anti-establishment movement, presenting the irreverent side of being far less than authoritarian. Following the sentiment of creative expression and taking leave of the rule book, Chateau Denmark presents a fresher, reimagined
perspective on travel. Challenging convention, signature rooms will feature maxi-bars, not minibars – perfect for hosting, ghosting and other illustrious pursuits. Design hues will blend with cultural cues to challenge guests’ expectations and offer freedom through a more frictionless approach to hospitality. At Chateau, guests will be in charge of their own experience, affording them the kind of flexibility they’ve long craved. Chateau Denmark is about people, where they’ve come from and where they’re going. From team members to guests, Outernet Global and CAW Ventures seek to turn up the eccentricities and quirks to reveal a new perspective on the modern guest experience - one that is utterly accessible and thoroughly inclusive. As Carrie Wicks states, “By the time we open next year, more than ever people will need to have it their way, connecting however they wish. In 2021, together we’ll present the next chapter of staying up or waking up in London”. Denmark Street’s heritage positions it as a place where over the years publishers, musicians, studios and guitar shops Hank’s, Sixty Sixty Sounds, Regent Sounds Studio, No.Tom, Wunjo and Rose Morris have all gathered. Denmark Street was where it all began and together with the music stores and its impassioned locals, Chateau Denmark seeks to play its role in continuing the street’s iconic legacy.
