My name is Ayane Shimomura. I’m going to talk about my favorite rice ball fillings. Before I go further, I would like to talk about my rice ball situation. There are two types of rice ball I eat: those I often eat and those I eat on special occasions. The former is convenience stores’ rice balls. The latter is rice balls which I make myself and the rice ball which I buy at Ziraiya which is the rice ball specialty store.

First, I would like to describe my favorite rice ball fillings that I buy at convenience stores. It is salmon or salt. If I buy one rice ball there, I buy a salmon rice ball. Salt-flavored rice balls are delicious, but sometimes the amount of salt is uneven, which is disappointing. Second, I would like to describe my favorite rice ball fillings of rice balls I make myself. When I make them, I’m determined to use mixed rice. I often use salmon flakes, perilla seaweed, salt or cod roe. The best is still the salmon rice ball. I have always loved salmon, so I always make salmon flakes at home. When I make rice balls myself, I don’t put seaweed on them. I like seaweed, but this is my usual pattern. Third, I would like to describe the rice ball of Ziraiya. The type of the sold rice ball is Tenmusu. A lot of people may think the rice ball with shrimp tempura filling, but this shop’s rice ball filling looks like deep-fried chicken and small shrimps are inside. It is very delicious. We can buy it at Hankyu Umeda Store. I often buy it when I want to buy lunch in Umeda.
