IMPORTANT CUSTOMS & TRADITIONS
Timuquana is proud of its position as one of the finest golf clubs in the Southeast. This is based as much on our famed Donald Ross golf course as it is on our rich history of respect for the game, courtesy, competition, and friendship. This rich tradition is built on generations of members and their families who care deeply about our Club. This care for the Club and its traditions is reflected daily in the way we share and play the course, and the respect and courtesy we show one another. All the rules that govern us ultimately come down to treating the golf course and one another with respect. That is the foundation of Timuquana. The following traditions are at the heart of ensuring our fine course stays in pristine condition, and that all rounds of golf are enjoyable for everyone. The First Tee Timuquana has never had tee times, which reflects our tradition of courtesy and respect to one another in pace of play and the first tee. Groups typically go off in the order in which they are all fully present and ready to play. It is incumbent upon each game to be ready, and to have all of its members there before taking the tee box. It is also the duty of each game to get off the first tee and play forward. The precedence for teeing off is foursome, threesome, twosome and single. A group that believes that someone behind it is going to play faster should always yield the tee box and allow the faster group to proceed. If a twosome sees a crowd at the tee, it should consider joining another twosome to make a game. Timuquana does not need a starter to resolve these questions, which are resolved by basic rules of courtesy. Pace of Play The proper pace of play for a round of golf at Timuquana is a maximum of 4 hours and 10 minutes, or you must complete each 9-holes within 15 minutes of the group in front of you. This is easily achievable by golfers of all skill levels. Please make sure to keep pace with the group in front of you. Playing ready golf, taking an extra club, quickly and expeditiously moving to your ball and executing your shot, picking up if you reach a maximum score, being aware of your surroundings, and ensuring that all members in your group play at the same pace, are simple ways to ensure this standard is met. Course Dress and Conduct Appropriate dress and conduct on the course is integral. Shirts are to be tucked in, hats worn appropriately, and proper golf attire worn.

Although we are passionate and competitive in our game, profanity and poor behavior interrupts the game of others. Music on the course is appreciated by some, but not all, so it must always be enjoyed with a recognition that not everyone wants to share in your playlist. Players who wish to play music must take special care to ensure that it does not play so loudly as to be heard by or interfere with players around them. You should check with and get the agreement of other golfers before playing music during a competitive match. Treating the Course with Respect Timuquana golfers treat our course with the respect and care that befits stewards of a magnificent piece of golf architecture kept for the enjoyment of all. Our golf members are all caretakers of our course, and act to ensure it is maintained and cared for from tee to green. The following practices are an important part of this stewardship and care for the golf course. Raking Bunkers: Please make sure to rake the bunkers properly after each shot. Please enter and exit the bunker at the lowest point to avoid damaging the faces. Repairing Divots: Properly replacing divots with sand mix helps the turf recover quicker and restores a smooth playing surface. Equally as important is fixing ball marks. As a rule of thumb, fix your ball mark along with one other while on the putting green. As you will, or have experienced, our greens are some of the best in the nation, so this is a vital tradition while playing at TCC. Cart Paths: Cart traffic is one of the most damaging elements of course conditioning. Please abide by the 90 degree rule. When carts are restricted to paths only, please keep all four tires on the cart path.

COURSE POLICIES & PROCEDURES Walking/Carts • Players may walk the course at any time. Players that choose to walk must keep pace with the group in front of them and finish their round in a maximum of 4 hours and 10 minutes. • Cart Rate: 18 holes: $25 cart fee, per person 9 holes: $12.50 cart fee, per person At times, the course may be restricted to cart path only. Please ensure, during these conditions, that all four wheels remain on the cart path at all times. Saturday Rules Only membership categories with full golf privileges are permitted to play on Saturdays and holidays prior to 10:30 am. Spouses and dependents are not permitted to play prior to 10:30 am on Saturdays. First Tee Procedures • Without tee times, groups off #1 are taken on a first-come, firstserved basis. • Groups are placed into the queue once the entire group has arrived and checked in to the starter on the first tee (on days when a starter is present). • Should there be a line to tee off, groups may go to the range or to the putting green but must be present when it is their turn. • Should the group not be ready, they will forfeit their place in line and be placed at the bottom of the list.

GHIN Handicap Network GHIN, or Golf Handicap Information Network, is a service established by the USGA and utilized at Timuquana Country Club to provide handicaps for golfers at our Club. The purpose of a handicap has always been to attempt to level the playing field for golfers of differing abilities, so that golfers can compete equally. In order to participate in Club events, you must carry a valid USGA handicap. The annual cost of this service is $25 per person. Please contact the Golf Shop for more information. Weekly Group Play Need a game? Whether you are new to the Club and looking to meet fellow golfers or just looking to join in on group play, we offer a number of weekly group game options. Every Wednesday evening at 5:00 pm (June - September) and Fridays prior to 1:00 pm (year-round), our golf professional staff is available to help pair you in various formats and skins games. Please stop in or call the Golf Shop for more details. Ladies’ Play Ladies’ Day is every Thursday. Only ladies can tee off prior to 9:30 am.
