FROM THE PRESIDENT As 2020 comes to a close, we are excited to welcome the new year with the opening of the Pow Wow Room on January 19. The tireless efforts of our House Committee led by Mark Higby and professional staff of Greg Sheara, Matt Harrington, Chef Lew and Rusty Nicholas will not go unnoticed when you see the new amenities the dining room and bar have to offer. The expanded menus and stellar wine, bourbon and cocktail lists will certainly create a more well-rounded dining experience—whether for families with young children, a date night with your significant other, or for entertaining guests. As has been our goal for some time, the River Room will also change concepts and mimic the Timuquana Char nights that have been so popular over the last year. Additional information can be found on the dining page of this newsletter, and menus of the new offerings can be found online. With the 2020 calendar year ending, our fiscal year also draws to an end. I’m often asked about the impact of the coronavirus on the Club’s finances, with most expecting a big dues raise or assessment to offset its impact. I am pleased to report the Club has fared extraordinarily well this year. As of the writing of this, the Club is projected to lose a modest $80,000. On an operating budget of $10.5mm, this loss, under the circumstances, shows the extraordinary efforts and able management of the Club’s operations by Greg Sheara, Dawn Cavanaugh and the rest of the management team. The major revenue areas of impact were private events. Revenues for private events were down nearly $600,000 for the year, as gathering sizes were limited and corporate holiday parties essentially canceled in full. The absence of cart revenues for safety concerns March – May and limited to no guest fees during the Spring contributed to declining sales of these two line items by another $85,000. In total, revenues will have

dropped by almost $825,000 for the year! Considering the loss in revenues, many expenses such as food and beverage cost and labor would naturally decline—yet Matt Harrington and his team found new, effective ways to manage labor costs throughout the pandemic resulting in additional savings. Reduction of interest expense by paying off the construction loan and moving to digital versions of The Timuquanan and billing statements are just a few of the many tactics the Club used to bring the financials at yearend to a near break-even. Of significant importance, the Board of Governors made the decision to pay staff impacted by the coronavirus in the spring during the emergency shutdown declarations 70% of their average gross wages. This coupled with the required sick/testing leave from the federally required Families First Act paid out $70,000 of relief aid to staff! Additionally, the Club qualified for payroll tax credit reimbursement from the CARES Act. With the reimbursement from this program, the Club will turn the $80,000 loss to a profit for the year resulting in no assessment for 2020! Not only can we thank the staff for their due diligence and focus on the dollars and cents, but we also thank the membership for their ongoing support of Club operations by continuing to use TCC amenities and services throughout the year. While we will see the lingering effects of the virus during the first two quarters of 2021, the end is certainly in sight. Although challenging, the Board of Governors and professional staff have remained steadfast in looking toward the future and planning accordingly for the next phase of capital improvement projects, and delivering a high level of service to the membership. I believe you will see these efforts continue to create value into 2021. Respectfully,

David Loop 2020 - 2021 President 4 | JA N UA RY/ F E B R UA RY 2 0 2 1

PRACTICE FACILITY RENOVATION & EXPANSION PROJECT On behalf of the Golf Committee, Greens Committee and Board of Governors, we are excited to announce the next phase of golf course improvements will commence this summer with an improvement to the practice facility! The renovation will include a number of enhancements to include: 1. An enlarged teeing ground that will increase square footage from 22,000 Sq. Ft. to 33,000 Sq. Ft. This will provide additional days of rotation to help turf conditions. 2. A recontoured range design that will provide new target greens and improve visibility of shots. 3. An additional rear teaching tee and new short game area for professional instruction and clinics. 4. A redesigned short game area at the current short game location that will provide better bunker positions to allow for more variety of shots. 5. Lengthened range layout that will provide a maximum length from middle of current tee to rear tee of 320 yards. 6. Brand new practice mats with short and rough grass design. 7. During this time, we will also rebuild and expand the putting surface and rear chipping area behind #9 green, blending the approach into #1 tee box (similar to the areas at #1, #2, #4 & #8). In addition to the functional golf enhancements, the Club will be completing necessary infrastructure improvements that include removing the power poles and moving the power underground, repaving the asphalt road to the Golf Maintenance Facility, improving drainage and irrigation throughout and enhancing the fence along Fair Lane. The range facility will close starting Monday, May 3 with an anticipated reopening on Friday, September 3. Additional information on the full Golf Course Master Plan can be found on the Club’s website. We look forward to showcasing these improvements. 6 | JA N UA RY/ F E B R UA RY 2 0 2 1

TENNIS NEWS Looking for a new approach to getting healthier in the new year? Consider tennis or pickleball! Playing tennis has many health benefits and can move you closer to your health goals. Pickleball is great alternative for those who like the idea of tennis but are looking for something lower impact. It’s easy to learn, fun to play, and you still get a great workout! In November of 2020, the Tennis Center hosted our annual Member-Guest. Despite the uncooperative weather, 78 players participated. Congratulations to our winners: The Elite Division – Patrick Emmet & Jonathon Emmet Ladies' Elite – Raymur Rachels & Ann Lee Ladies' Championship – Holland Gibbs & Katherine Sherman Ladies' Contender – Frances Graham & Whitney Riley Men’s Championship – Richard Crittenden & Ryan King Men’s Contender – Paul Van Wie & Topher Johnson The Mixed Open is our first event on the schedule for 2021. The field is wide open and the competition is fun to watch! Our ladies’ teams also start the second half of their season in January. Best of luck to our teams as they gain momentum in the season’s second half! Even with winter upon us, the Tennis Center is as active as ever. Stop by and watch the Mixed Open in January, join us for a pickleball social in February, drop into a clinic, or take a lesson. See you on the courts!
