FROM THE PRESIDENT As I write my first article as President, I could not have anticipated that my first message would be during a global pandemic. This crisis has impacted us all — personally, in our community at the Club, and on a global scale. First and foremost, on behalf of the Board we wish all of our members and their families health and security during this trying time. Secondly, unlike previous national macroeconomic issues such as September 11th and the 2009 global financial crisis, Timuquana has stood on solid ground. While we are far from out of the woods and remnants of the virus will surely impact us throughout the remainder of the year, we are fortunate to have remained partially open across almost all outlets since early March with revenues strong. I'd like to extend my gratitude to the staff who have passionately come to work and provided service to everyone. I am confident I speak for all members saying that your service and positivity during this time were a relief from the stress and helped make TCC a true extension of our homes. I'd also like to thank the membership for their support, and for ordering takeout food and beverages. Dining room F&B revenues in April totaled 70% of normal, far surpassing our early projections. Your continued patronage has allowed the Club to supplement wages for staff impacted by the closures for the last 8 weeks! As we approach Phase II reopening, I am happy to report that current financial impact to the Club has been less devastating than initially expected. The Club built a strong profit through the first quarter and was aggressive in expense reductions immediately as the virus hit. Our revised budget projections through year end represent only a small loss in operations — small enough that we hope Club activity this summer and fall can make up that ground. Fingers crossed that we don't have any further closures this fall. We are excited to move closer to normalcy this summer. You will continue to see staff practice and enforce social distancing, and hours of operation may continue to be restricted to ensure proper sanitation. Updates

4 | J U N E /J U LY/AU G U S T 2 0 2 0

regarding large gatherings and operational updates will be communicated regularly with the membership. We know that summer activity will be high as vacations, by and large, will be canceled and the Club's summer camps, sports activities, Yappy Hour, return of our First Friday 1923 Drawing in July, and many more favorites will be available to meet this demand. Summer camps are already nearing capacity, so please sign up quickly if interested. As we communicated in mid-March following the Annual Meeting, the Club has entered into a Restricted Use Easement with the Navy and City of Jacksonville. The first installment of what is expected to be a five-year phased approach, was received in May. The 5.85mm payment has been used to pay off 3.7mm in debt, with the remainder of these proceeds going to support the Pow Wow renovation, highlighted on the next page of this newsletter. This project will begin on June 22. The Pow Wow renovation has been on the drawing board for four years, and we are excited to showcase this member enhancement at the end of the year. Lastly, I am equally excited to communicate that our membership levels have been maintained during the last two months. We welcomed nine new member families in May, and look forward to the return of the many members who were impacted by travel and work restrictions. It is clear that our investment in our facilities, people and programs the last few years have had a profound effect on members' lives, and shows the importance of community and friendship our members have with the Club. I look forward to meeting as many members as possible this summer, under proper social distancing of course, and getting to know more about how we can improve your Club experience. Respectfully,

David Loop 2020 - 2021 President

POW WOW RENOVATION Following nearly four years of conversations, design drawings, and scope changes, the Pow Wow Room and kitchen project will be commencing this month. The project will cover nearly every aspect of the west end of the building. The kitchen will be completely redone with new equipment, including a pizza oven, and a new configuration. This improvement will create more efficiencies in the main Pow Wow Room, as well as small private events held in the President’s Room and Dornoch Room. The new kitchen will create an office for Chef Lew, as well as a more dedicated and efficient to-go station to handle our increasing number of takeout orders.

In addition, the project will include necessary structural and maintenance improvements, such as replacing the roof and adjusting the HVAC systems to properly cool the space. The renovation project will commence on June 22 with intended completion in December, just in time for a New Year’s Eve Opening Party on December 31! We would like to thank the House Committee for all of their efforts vetting design, contractors, and budget. Their hard work coupled with our architect, ELM, and interior designer, Harris Interiors, will be sure to deliver a world class restaurant for all ages and tastes.

In the lounge area, the bar will be enlarged to accommodate future increases in volume, and set-up such that our bartenders can provide exemplary service. Our Food and Beverage Director, Matt Harrington, has also been hard at work securing very rare allocations of whiskey, which will be the centerpiece of a new and expanded cocktail program upon reopening. The rest of the bar area will include bar-top seating, dining tables, and two 55” televisions — all making it a great spot for a casual dinner, happy hour, or a relaxed date night.

A new wine room between the bar and main dining areas will create a great focal point and important functionality for Matt and his team’s new and improved wine list comprised of more than 150 selections. The wine list will continue to offer incredible value in relation to our local member favorites. Large columns will be removed along the riverside windows and replaced with structural beams, opening up the sweeping views of the St. Johns River and Downtown Jacksonville skyline. With wood top tables and an improved open concept, this space is sure to become a Club favorite.

MEMBERSHIP & MARKETING I'd like to start with a sincere and heartfelt thank you to all of our members for your support during these ever changing times. Our Timuquana members prove over and over again how strong our community is. We're glad to see things returning to normal, and look forward to seeing all of you making memories and enjoying the summertime here at TCC. Over the past few months, we’ve seen our membership maintain a steady course with a rise in interest from both prospective members and current member sponsors. We welcomed nine new member families in May, as well as two in April and five in March. With new inquiries coming in daily, it’s clear that Timuquana will weather the storm and we’ll see our community continue to grow. With that in mind, we encourage everyone to help a friend, family member, neighbor, or colleague to discover Timuquana! Membership packets are available at our Concierge Desk, and information can be found online at www.timuquana.net/discover. You can also contact our Membership Office at any time for assistance or to schedule a personal tour. Be sure to ask about our Legacy Program as well, which helps family members join the Club for a discounted initiation fee.

Membership Orientation Guide One of our projects over the last few months has been to create a Membership Orientation Guide. This new publication will be an invaluable tool for new members as they get acclimated to the Club, as well as for our entire membership as a refresher on all things Timuquana! This helpful guide includes website login instructions, step-by-step how-to guides, rules and policies, information about all amenities of the Club, and more. This will be an integral addition to a more formalized new member orientation process we’ll be rolling out later this year. An electronic copy of the guide will be shared with all members very soon, so watch your email for more details. A new Golf Resource Book will also compliment this Guide for our golf members. We're excited for another great summer here at the Club, and look forward to watching our TCC Family continue to grow and thrive. If you are interested in sponsoring a new member or learning more about membership at TCC, please feel free to contact me. Holly E. Kaspar, MBA Membership and Marketing Director President, Northeast Florida Chapter PCMA hkaspar@timuquana.net

GOLF NEWS I want to begin by telling you all how excited I am to be a part of TCC. While this has been a unique time to begin my role here, one positive is that rounds have been plentiful allowing me to meet and develop relationships with many of you. We have an exciting number of years ahead of us at TCC, and I look forward to being a part of it. As we continue to work together through this pandemic and we all get more comfortable, let's still remember to practice social distancing in high traffic areas including the first tee, putting greens, driving range, and T-Stand. Any family members of the same household will be able to share a cart while playing, otherwise only one player is permitted per cart. Our outside operations staff will continue to clean and sanitize each golf cart with care to ensure they are safe for you to use. Following June’s course closure, June 1–15, we will resume our normal golf policies which include: raking bunkers, removing flagsticks, and guest play will be allowed. As we continue with one person per cart, walking the golf course will still be allowed for Saturday mornings. We will communicate any future changes to our golf cart and walking policies. Also, Saturday mornings prior to 10:30 am will be for member play only. Members will not be able to register their guests with our starter until 10:30 am on Saturday mornings. Beginning on June 16, the Golf Shop's summer hours will be from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. Also resuming after our course closure is Ladies' Day. Ladies' Day is every Thursday. No play, other than ladies, can play prior to 9:30 am. Our Director of Instruction, Jason Smith, has done a wonderful job ensuring that we have plenty of junior golf activities this summer. Our summer golf calendar is filled with junior golf camps, PGA Junior League, Junior Pow Wow, and ends with our Junior Club Championship in August. Following our summer months, this fall promises to be a wonderful time at TCC with a lot of fun events for both men and women.

Jason Smith, PGA Director of Instruction/ Junior Golf Development jsmith@timuquana.net

We are very excited to announce that we will be offering an entirely new type of golf instruction at Timuquana starting this summer called Operation 36. Operation 36 is the most effective program to teach beginners to learn to play golf. It is a clear blueprint to go from complete novice to par golfer. The lessons are based around playing on the course right away and moving up in divisions. Lastly, the technology that they provide in the app is cuttingedge! You can track all your progress and communicate with our instructors through the app. Be on the look-out for more information regarding Operation 36 in the coming months!

TENNIS NEWS We have much to enjoy now and in the coming months, but first I’d like to briefly look back and showcase some of our highlights from early spring. On March 19, we created something that does not exist elsewhere in North Florida: a clay pickleball court. As the fastest growing sport in America, join us at court 6 at the Tennis Center to see what the buzz is about. Once you play pickleball, you will not want to stop! I also enthusiastically share that our tennis courts received a facelift in April. They were resurfaced with ten tons of new clay and all lines were replaced. The Tennis Center welcomes summer with what is likely to be our best season of camps yet! We have some exciting things in store for the little ones. Fear not, there’s fun to be had for the adults too. Our very popular “Wine Not” is about to begin again. Ladies, come enjoy a glass of wine while you hit the court with friends. And guys, be sure to partake in Men’s Night offered every Thursday evening. And on June 20, we renew our men’s “Sneaks and Cleats” rivalry against Jacksonville Golf and Country Club, during which we play tennis in the morning followed by golf in the afternoon. The Tennis Center offers summertime enjoyment for the whole family—and we look forward to seeing you soon.

TENNIS ENHANCEMENTS We are very pleased to share the Tennis Center will receive another capital enhancement this summer with new LED lighting. The project will begin on July 20, and similar to the recent court resurfacing project in April, will be phased over a six-week period to limit downtime of courts. The scope of the project will include new LED fixtures, new poles, and a re-configuration of the lighting layout to maximize the best lighting coverage for our courts. This project has been discussed for years, and we are excited to now provide our membership with an outstanding evening tennis experience.
