FROM THE PRESIDENT Timuquana is certainly a much different place than it was a number of years ago. There always seems to be a lot going on, whether that be new programs, renovations and improvements to the facilities, or just a growing membership enjoying our amenities more frequently than in the past. Considering the Club’s popularity, strong financial stewardship, and vision for providing a premier club experience, the pace of improvements is not likely to let up any time soon. With that said, the Board of Governors has two clear initiatives for this upcoming year: 1. Launch a comprehensive Member Survey in January 2021. The last member survey was completed in 2016 and helped shape the decisions to renovate the pool and Pow Wow Room. This survey has continued to guide the Board and the professional staff in improving on its processes, procedures, and levels of service. The survey that will be distributed to all members in January will again be a complete review of all of the Club’s services and amenities. We ask that you take the time to thoughtfully complete the survey, as this will help the Board focus its efforts on areas of improvement and maintaining a high level of member satisfaction. Of significant importance, the survey will include a number of potential and future capital projects. The membership’s response to these projects will help the Board identify their level of importance and plan accordingly with respect to timing and financing. Details of the survey will be communicated in the January/February edition of The Timuquanan and on the website. 2. Expand transparency and communication of the Club’s future plans. Last year, we created a Board Governance section of the website. Within this tab you’ll see: a) The Club’s Annual Report – This report highlights the Club’s financial position and committee reporting from the year prior. Historically, it was produced only in hard-copy form for Founder’s Day. b) Board Meeting Updates – Following each monthly meeting, a summary is posted online. This communicates what the Board is working on to make your membership experience better. 4 | N OV E M B E R / D EC E M B E R 2 0 2 0
c) 2023 Strategic Plan – The last Strategic Plan was completed in 2014. Since that time, we have accomplished a great deal of our goals and objectives. Last year the Board, committees, and professional staff created an updated vision of Timuquana that will lead us through the Club’s Centennial in 2023. This Strategic Plan includes our progress through last year, and will be amended again with the Club’s successes in January. d) Easement – This section provides an overview of the Restrictive Use Easement the Club entered into with the Navy and City of Jacksonville in May. It describes the Board’s guiding principles in use of the funds, and includes an update on how the Club is using the first of its installments. e) Board & Committee Lists – This includes a listing of all Board and Committee members, as well as a section describing the Nominating Committee and guidelines. f) Proposed New Members – This section houses the list of proposed new members for each month, and is posted for member review and comment following the Board Meeting. 9. Golf Course Master Plan – This includes a detailed hole-by-hole plan of proposed changes to the golf course and practice facilities. The Board and I anticipate that these initiatives will encourage both transparency and membership engagement in the ongoing improvement and enjoyment of the Club for everyone. We appreciate your valuable feedback. As we embark on the holiday season, I wish everyone a safe and joyful time, whether entertaining at home or enjoying the various events at TCC, and look forward to the new year ahead. Respectfully,
David Loop 2020 - 2021 President
POW WOW UPDATES As the completion of construction nears, we are excited to deliver one of the best dining experiences in Jacksonville. The improvements to the dining and bar areas will be apparent as soon as you enter the room. The kitchen has undergone many changes to better allow Chef Lew and our culinary team to provide something for everyone. Among the improvements are a stone hearth pizza oven, a dedicated fryer for gluten free foods, an improved cook line, the ability to provide vegan and vegetarian options, a la carte brunch on both Saturdays and Sundays, and a steakhouse broiler. With the improvements in the kitchen, the River Room will transform into a steakhouse concept called Timuquana Char. Our beverage program will also be expanding in both selection and quality. All wine will be stored and served at the proper temperature, thanks to our new wine room. The whiskey selection will feature many highly allocated items. We look forward to welcoming you on Tuesday, January 5 for our first night of operation.
IMPROVEMENTS TO THE DINING EXPERIENCE INCLUDE: Menu • Stone Hearth Pizzas • Saturday/Sunday A La Carte Brunch • Expanded Vegan, Vegetarian, and Healthy Offerings • House-made Desserts • Pow Wow Room Reservations • Sharable Plates Wine List • Over 1,300 bottles in a climate-controlled wine room • List will include over 75 wines rated higher than 90pts by major wine publications • Multiple Vintages of hard to find Harlan & Kathryn Hall Cabernets • 1er cru Burgundys from Domaine Alain Chavy & Federic Esmonin

This is also the time of year that the staff enjoys the warmth of the membership’s generosity through the annual Christmas Fund. This wonderful Club tradition means a great deal to all of our employees, whether they have been with us for a short time, or as you will see here, for several decades.

MEMBERSHIP & MARKETING The holiday season is upon us - a time to reflect and to be thankful for the people who matter most in our lives. At Timuquana, we're thankful for our members and the generations of families who share in the memories made here at the Club. We're also grateful for all of the new member families who've joined the Club this year. As of October, 90 new member families have applied to join Timuquana since January. I’m also happy to hear from so many, when I ask what brought them to TCC or what inspired them to join, that they were drawn to the warm welcoming membership and staff, friends and family, and the sense of old southern hospitality that feels like home when their here. New Member Approval Process Changes As a reminder, our new member approval process changed in September. Applicants now have a one-month waiting period
prior to their full invitation to join. This allows the current membership an opportunity to provide feedback to the Board. Names of prospective members are posted on the Board Governance page of our website. Initiation Fees Increasing January 1 Have you been considering an upgrade from your current category? Do you know someone who may be interested in joining the TCC Family? Now is a great time to make the move and take advantage of our current rates. Our Board has voted to increase initiation fees starting January 1, 2021, so any new transfers or new members joining by the December Board Meeting will enjoy our current rates. Please feel free to contact me to learn more. Holly E. Kaspar, MBA Membership and Marketing Director President, Northeast Florida Chapter PCMA hkaspar@timuquana.net

GOLF NEWS This time of year offers great weather for golf, special promotions in the Golf Shop, and several tournaments to keep you engaged and enjoying the course. With the recent time change, please note that Golf Shop hours have adjusted to 7:00 am—5:00 pm.
Guest Policy TCC has gained remarkable popularity in 2020, and we continue to experience record numbers in rounds of golf. In an effort to enhance your membership experience and improve access to the first tee, we have updated our guest policy:
Our annual Shelly/Madison Invitational will be played on Thursday, November 5. The golf course will re-open at 12:30 pm.
• Tuesdays and Wednesdays –Guest play is available all day. Members may host a maximum of seven guests.
The Fall Classic will be played November 12-14. The golf course will be open to tournament players only on these three days. Normal operations will resume on Sunday, November 15.
• Thursdays (Ladies’ Day) – Guest play begins at 12:00 pm. Members may host a maximum of seven guests.
On November 27, the day after Thanksgiving, we will observe our Friday guest policy and begin guest play at 12:00 pm. December 1 begins our annual 12 Days of Christmas Sale. See the back cover of this newsletter for details. Pow Wow Lottery registration will be held December 1-15, and our Pow Wow Lottery Party will take place on Saturday, January 23. Please mark your calendar and look for additional Club communications soon regarding the registration process. The Senior Club Championship will take place December 5-6. The format for this event is 36-hole stroke play. There will be three divisions: Championship (55+), Super Senior (66-75), and Golden (76+). The championship flight will be a stroke play competition and all other flights will be stableford (Gross & Net). The deadline to register is Wednesday, November 18. Cost: $50 per player. On December 10, we will offer a Golf Shop “Pop the Balloon” Christmas Sale. Stop in between 2:00 and 6:00 pm to shop and pop a balloon at checkout that will provide a discount between 10% and 50% off, and one balloon will offer 100% off. The discount will only apply to in-stock product in the Golf Shop and will not be available on special orders. The Clayton Riley Family Tournament will be played Sunday, December 13. This is Timuquana’s annual family golf event. Teams may be comprised of any vertical combination of relatives. The cost for each team of two is $90 plus a cart fee, and includes prizes and a reception at 5:00 pm.
• Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays – Guest play begins at 12:00 pm. Members may host a maximum of three guests. Care of the Course As we experience an increase in golf rounds, it is imperative that we make a more collective effort in taking care of the golf course. All golfers are required to rake bunkers, fill divots, and repair ball marks. I encourage everyone to leave the golf course better than you found it. This may mean raking an extra footprint in the bunker, filling an extra divot in the fairway, or repairing another ball mark on the green. It is the responsibility of all members to take proper care of the course to help ensure that your fellow members playing behind you have a great playing experience. Winter Cart Path Restrictions Our winter cart path restrictions are in effect Tuesdays through Thursdays from January 5 through March 21. Golfers 65 years of age and older, as well as golfers with handicap restrictions, may abide by the 90-degree rule. Cart path restrictions have also been adjusted to allow for ladies playing in the morning on Ladies' Day.

All Golf Shop credit will expire on December 31. Take advantage of our upcoming promotions as you shop for those on your Christmas list, or perhaps buy something special for yourself. Please reach out to the Golf Shop to receive your credit balance, and allow us to assist you with your purchases before the end of the year.
GOLF DEVELOPMENT Timuquana Ladies' Academy This program uses the Operation 36 model, which centers around playing on the golf course. Students will develop their skills during the clinics and then put them to the test during the Thursday play days. To keep the experience fun and reduce the amount of time needed to play, participants will begin by playing 9 holes from 25 yards.
November – Our Ladies’ Academy will continue in November with a slight change. Clinics will be hosted on Wednesdays, November 4 and 18. The play day will be held on Thursday, November 19 at 9:00 am. Tuition will be $75 and includes two clinics, one play day event, and access to the Operation 36 app.
December – In December we will return to the previous schedule of two clinics and two play days per month. Clinics will be on Wednesdays, December 2 and 16. Play day events will take place on Thursdays, December 3 and 17. Tuition for December will be $100. To register, please email jsmith@timuquana.net.
Timuquana Junior Academy The second semester of our new after-school program, Timuquana Junior Academy, is now enrolling. The program was introduced in September and was a great success! The

FITNESS NEWS NEW MODALITY SERVICE AVAILABLE! CUPPING THERAPY Cupping is an Eastern medicinal practice with the primary objective to promote myofascial decompression of tight or “stuck” muscles in our bodies. When the body’s level of physical activity increases, our bodies undergo periods of stiffness, soreness, and other types of physical discomfort. In order to keep our bodies in peak physical condition, it is imperative to rehabilitate our muscular and circulatory systems so they operate in unison. Cupping allows blood to circulate more efficiently to our muscles and organs. It also has the benefit of deteriorating scar tissue, promoting healing, and maintaining optimal health and wellness. Cupping Therapy is offered in a short session and a long session. Shorter sessions are approximately 10–15 minutes and cost $25. Longer sessions are approximately 30–35 minutes and cost $40. To schedule a session, please contact Matthew Maffei at mmaffei@timuquana.net.

NEW AT THE SPA INTRODUCING THE ASHIATSU SOLE MASSAGE Available Beginning November 19
Ashiatsu Sole Massage is a barefoot massage technique that capitalizes on body weight and physics to create the deepest pressure a massage therapist can safely give. Deep tissue compressions relieve muscle tension by loosening tight muscles. The ability to penetrate the deeper layers of soft tissues stimulates circulation and helps relieve the inflammation that causes pain. Ashiatsu is generally more comfortable than a standard deep tissue massage. Due to the specialized bars needed, Ashiatsu Sole Massages are by appointment only and limited to Thursdays and Fridays. The introductory price for this specialized service is $125 for 75 minutes. For more information or to schedule your appointment, contact Maria Dragoo at 904.387.6700.

made us all proud with their hard work this season. In the spring, we look forward to taking on other clubs from around Jacksonville.

XGLOsive made its way back to Timuquana on October 17. I bet you were able to hear the party at the Tennis Center that night. It is by far the coolest social we host all year. We can’t wait to get them back to the Club in 2021. In September, we hosted “Night Under the Lights” — a celebration of our brand-new lights.
Our ladies' teams are getting ready to wrap up the first leg of the 2020-2021 season. All seven teams are having a booming first half of the season. We get back into action in January, and then hit our stride in the spring months.
If you came by the Tennis Center on a Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday, you may have noticed we are 6 to 8 courts deep with our junior programs. Our two USTA junior league teams that play Fridays are wrapping up their season the second week in November. Our Orange Ball and Green Ball teams have
