Capital Improvements In general, anything supported by more than 50% of members should be given serious consideration. Anything supported by 30-50% of members should be considered and analyzed further to understand its impact and value. There is strong support for expanding the Fitness Center and Spa Services by the entire membership and across all demographics. The Golf Performance Teachiner Center follows very closely with support from the younger members, newer-tenured, and males. Based on demographics versus the entire membership, the Recreation Center falls in third for younger and newer members, whereas pickleball takes third for older and more tenured members.

Based on these survey results, the Long Range Planning Committee has recommended the Board continue developing the Club's Master Facility Plan for these areas. Specifically, we will look at the following over the course of the next year: 1. The Master Plan proposes an expansion of the Fitness Center in its current location. This expansion would also create an enhanced outdoor dining space off the Pow Wow Room (a consistent comment we also heard in the survey). The Club will engage architects and other consultants to determine the feasibility of the expansion in this location. The Fitness, Aquatics, and Recreation Committee will start working on floor layouts and project scope to ensure the expansion will meet the membership's current and future fitness needs. This project would include rebuilding the entire back patio, which has started to dip and crack, requiring future remediation. Considering the significant investment expected for this project, we anticipate this improvement to be a number of years away. 2. The Club will progress with its design development of the Golf Performance Teaching Center. Depending on funding, the Club could begin construction in the Fall of 2024 or the Fall of 2025. 3. The Club will continue with its initial Nature/Fitness Trail plan. It will progress those plans and work with the Fitness, Aquatics, and Recreation Committee on final designs. Considering the much lower capital investment, this is a project the Long Range Planning Committee and Board would consider doing in the nearer term.

4. The Club will also start advancing options and designs for Pickleball Courts and a recreation area to accommodate these expanding programs. At the end of November, Tennis Court Seven will be modified to accommodate four pickleball courts to support the rising demand for this popular sport. In addition, as we highlighted in the last Newsletter, the Club will begin renovating the Men's and Ladies' Locker Rooms and 19th Hole, with construction starting in October 2023. This project will last roughly ten months. While the aspirational projects may take time to develop, fund, and execute, the survey clearly reflects the membership's desire for these amenities to enhance their Club experience. As plans develop, the Board of Governors will communicate more concrete timelines for each improvement. Thanks again to those who participated and shared their opinions for future Club enhancements through the survey. As always, we welcome your ongoing feedback, so please do not hesitate to reach out to me, Greg, or any member of the Board of Governors. I look forward to seeing everyone at the Club's holiday parties and events this winter!

Respectfully,

Jim Thompson 2022 - 2023 President

FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER This is the time of year that the staff enjoys the warmth of the membership’s generosity through the annual Christmas Fund. This wonderful Club tradition means a great deal to all of our employees, whether they have been with us for a short time, or as you will see below, for several decades. As tradition, we take the opportunity at our Employee Holiday Breakfast in November to recognize employees who have reached significant milestones of employment at Timuquana Country Club. Below are the names, along with their years of service, of the 2022 recipients. Please make sure to thank them for all of their hard work and dedication over the years! Again, on behalf of the staff of the Club, thank you for your generosity this Christmas season and for your support all year long.

GOLF NEWS We had another amazing week hosting the second annual Constellation FURYK & FRIENDS Tournament. Seeing numerous Hall of Famers and some of the greatest players to ever play the game compete at our course was surreal. It was undoubtedly a historic week for Timuquana Country Club and one we should all be very proud of. We look forward to another exciting and fun-filled week next fall as Steve Stricker comes back to Timuquana to defend the Constellation FURYK & FRIENDS title. On November 3–5, we are excited to host our Founder Member-Member. A Pusher isn't the strongest player on the court; they typically have average movement, ground strokes, volleys, and serves, but what they lack in strength and speed, they more than makeup for with patience and placement. This consistency is what "pushes" their opponents to the point of self-destruction. Like any other opponent, beating a Pusher isn't easy; however, it can be done with the right mindset and preparation. Here are some excellent (and proven) tips on how you can push back in singles and doubles — and win! 1. R-E-S-P-E-C-T The first step to beating a Pusher is to respect their game as "real" tennis because it is effective, and they win. Good Pushers love nothing more than their opponents underestimating them. In doing so, the opponents set themselves up for a frustrating match, quickly tearing down their mental game. 2. Remember that Patience is a Virtue If you've been playing tennis for a while, you've undoubtedly heard that it's best to stick to your own game and not get sucked into your opponent's game. But if your plan is to hit the ball hard and end the point in two or three strokes, that will not work against a Pusher. When playing against a Pusher, you must stay patient. Instead, attempt to take control of the match by hitting more balls to their backhand or weaker side. This will reduce their ability to hit the ball deep, allowing you to come into the net for some easy, put-away volleys. 3. Come On In Unless your opponent is constantly lobbing, don't hang out behind the baseline, waiting for the ball to come to you. Return the ball hard and deep to their feet and come into the net. You'll shorten your opponent's reaction time and have a much better angle for your high volleys. 4. Invite them in! Pushers are typically baseline players and don't like being at the net, so use your drop shot or short ball and force in. Make sure the ball stays low so they'll have to hit up on it. They will be thinking more about how to get back to their comfort zone at the baseline than returning the ball. This is where you take advantage. Remember, Pushers relish in your frustration. The sooner they can get to you mentally, the quicker your game will fall apart. Don't let their style of play get the best of you. Take these tips to heart and play with confidence! FITNESS TIP Don’t Overdo It Pushing the limits between short, intense bursts of movements with less-intense recovery movements can put a lot of stress on your body. Don't be afraid to schedule rest days into your workout routine. In fact, dedicating one day a week to recovery methods, like foam rolling or restorative yoga, is essential for your body. Check out the Fitness Center's Group Exercise Schedule for class options to help prevent injury and muscle fatigue. Classes are complimentary, and no prior registration is required.
