Copper Turn off in 3 Months As you would be aware, Willunga was among the first to receive NBN Co’s Fibre technology. This means Willunga will also be the first to have the copper network disconnected. This is going to happen on 23 May 2014, where the NBN will replace existing landline phone, ADSL internet and Telstra cable internet services. These services will be permanently switched off from 23 May 2014. This is a very important process, as it involves the migration of thousands of home and business telephone and internet services to the NBN.
The good Samaritan Jogger After the big storm a large branch dangled high above entrance to a house in Aldinga Rd. SES attended and realising it was too high for ladders tried the ‘throw bag with rope attached’ method to try and dislodge the branch. After some time the team of SES men had no luck when a jogger passed and enquired what the problem was. Upon hearing the story he said that’s easy and with one throw he succeeded in dislodging the branch and he continued jogging. ------
Light the Dark Vigils were held around the country on February 23rd in memory of Reza Berati, the 23 year old asylum seeker killed on Manus Island.
The task is to ensure no-one is left behind. To support a smooth move to the NBN for all those premises within the fibre coverage area, attached is an information flyer; effectively a ‘what is happening, and what to do.’ What you need to do The National Broadband Network is an upgrade to Australia’s existing telecommunications network. To find out how this may affect your existing landline home phone and internet: Call your preferred home phone or internet provider to discuss if your current services are affected. Your provider will do the rest including organising installation of the NBN equipment. Don’t risk being left without a landline home phone or internet, call your preferred provider today. Rec Park News. The Sports and Social, Tennis and Netball clubs have added to the solar power installs at Rec Park to make a total of 19KW. The Onkaparinga Council has confirmed a grant towards the cost of a new slate roof for the Show Hall. The strategic plan is progressing with many clubs and other parties contributing to the consultation and questionnaire processes. Willunga held a gathering vigil at the war memorial at 8pm to honour the young Iranian man and to highlight the treatment of asylum seekers in off shore detention centres, but in Australia’s name. Attendees were invited to bring a candle, note for asylum seekers or a flower. The gathering was organised by local Moira Deslandes. People united in a show of compassion and solidarity with those who have suffered in our detention centres, asking for more compassionate asylum policies. The vigil was part of the Light the Dark campaign. https://www.getup.org.au/lightthedark -------
