MASKLESS LIVING by: Richard Haney

My late wife, Helen Vail, who died 25 years ago, after dealing with the challenge of cancer for four years, often quoted the expression, “All that there is that is left of us is Love.” Just before she passed into Spirit, she asked me to share this quote with anyone who is sensitive and mature enough to digest its meaning. Many wise folk experience this in the last few fleeting moments of their lives.

However, it is best to learn it long before the end of life.

Why not choose to live it as a life-style?

On my grave marker, which is next to Helen’s, I have had the following words engraved: “I am Eternally Grateful”. My slogan for my counselling practice is, “Listening well is the most eloquent sign of caring.” These two expressions really sum up a lot of what motivates me.

I am dedicated to being fully HERE, fully REAL, and fully CONSCIOUS. To being totally honest with myself. To being able to maturely assimilate all the good and bad in each precious moment. To taking down all masks. This is what I strive for…“Maskless Living”. This is my life challenge.

As a young man, I worked in child protection for the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto. That’s where I learned about the importance of creating flexible boundaries when dealing with abused and neglected children. When I began working there, I thought that being totally open and into loving-kindness was the best way to give the children a model of what they had not experienced with their abusive family. However, it turned out that this was one of the worst ways for me to approach them because they were suffering from what is called “a pattern of rejection”. They experienced loving-kindness as a threat. I had to learn to approach each child and each situation with a set of flexible boundaries that could be adjusted as needed. I could choose my boundaries with full consciousness. Years later I discovered that what I was doing back then was what C.G. Jung described as, “dis-identifying with one’s persona”. Since many people are trapped in their persona, he suggested letting our true personality shine through the persona.

Recently, when I was up-dating my Will, “Living Will”, and Powers-of-Attorney, I decided to design my own eulogy so that someone else would not have to try to second guess what my wishes and thoughts are regarding my legacy. I have entitled it, “Maskless Living”.

Being without a mask does not mean being defenseless.

On the contrary, a person can actually be completely into serendipity and synchronicity and still continuously and wisely navigate their way through virtually any situation.

Interestingly, Constantin Stanislavski, a Russian theatre director and one of the first great acting coaches, developed a system of acting that resulted in stage performances that were magical. When the actor’s real “emotional memory” intersects with the emotions required to play a particular character, the actor is actually “living in” the character.

The actor completely connects with the role. This is the opposite of being “type-cast”, or trapped in a role, as many celebrity actors are or were, including the late Robin Williams.

To fulfill my desire to delve deeper into maskless living, later this year I hope to attend an experiential retreat at the Tribal Ground Circle (www.TribalGround.com) in Santa Cruz, California, that will be led by some former Esalen Institute presenters (www.Esalen.org). This retreat, which will focus on the topic of enjoying a full life, is entitled, “No One Is Getting Out of Here Alive: Choices in Living and Dying”. Since, as far as we know, none of us will be “getting out of this life alive”, we might as well practise maskless living.

LOVE

My invitation today is to explore together the vast field of love.

It is complex, beautiful and healing.

Love can be experienced in relationships, when two people bond together and remain supportive. This is a gift and can be achieved and maintained if we have the ability to express our love, to stay present enough to include other’s inclinations and predicaments, and to also include ourselves in the equation. Many of my clients, when having relationship issues, forget this part of the equation. They tell me, what can I do to please my partner, to make him or her love me more? Yet if we don’t love ourselves, it is difficult to love the other entirely. It will maintain a relationship that is not balanced. It cannot lead to fulfillment or satisfaction.

“Love is a choice you make from moment to moment.” – Barbara De Angelis Step out of the circle of time and into the circle of love. RUMI We all long for love, even if at times we don’t fully realize it.

Love is felt in our heart, it is a warm feeling, a sense of openness that nourishes our soul, and everyone’s souls. Love is what makes us smile, happy, fulfilled. Yet expressing our love is not always easy. We may feel shy or embarrassed to do so, and many will choose instead the path of joking or teasing « lovingly”, instead of simply being kind and appreciative, loving, and warm hearted.

Truly, teasing is overrated. Teasing may also come with an underlying message, as in a double edge compliment. Per example: “You’re looking good… today!” the implication, as an example, is that one may generally benefit from dressing up, though one may look good today (the compliment) and the slight tease in saying “today” with a word specific in time and with a special tonality, hence the tease. This is more common than we may realize.

Kindness is so much simpler, warmer, and much more enjoyable for the recipient of this “fun” teasing.

Love needs to be balanced. It is not to simply love everyone unconditionally and yet omit ourselves. This imbalanced love will lead to relationship issues. If we respect and love ourselves, knowing that we may still be learning, but that we also deserve love, this will lead to be respected and loved in a deeper way.

Simultaneously, it will inspire others to love and respect themselves. I believe that this is a current collective learning.

Many are now able to complete the circle of love, and include themselves in the process.

But why is love so valuable? Scientific studies have shown that love causes our body to release feel-good hormones and neurochemicals that trigger specific, positive reactions. Deep love makes us feel good, it is relaxing and enables us to have a clearer heart and mind. Love is like an inner sunshine that is warming to the ones around us.

Love is integral to life; it is both powerful and important. I believe that if one is unable to love, that is the result of personal traumas and misalignments. Help from therapy and guides are then extremely useful.

ABOUT THE REMEMBRANCES Author Dr. Ian Prattis Releases

I met a visiting Rishi in 1995 – a holy man from India who recognized me and insisted I go to India for spiritual training. I took leave from my Canadian university and spent two years as a yogi, where the spiritual treasures of India were opened to me. I went there to teach and train in Siddha Samadhi Yoga, a system of meditation for adults and children. It was committed to global religious harmony and program participants work to heal and transform deeply rooted schisms in Indian society - through rural development, civic responsibility, and anticorruption programs. Also required was a marvelous outreach to introduce meditation into schools. colleges, universities, and factories. I was privileged and honored to experience so many treasures of India.

Then, in November and December of 1996, I became seriously ill in India.

As I observed my body’s systems crashing one by one, I knew there was a distinct possibility of death. I was surprised by my calm and lack of panic. As December drew towards its close, I totally surrendered. I will always remember Saturday, December 21, 1996 as if it were yesterday. On that day, I let go of all attachments to my body and surrendered to a sense of freedom never before experienced. I was living in a small ashram in the city of Mumbai – reserved for saints and holy men. I did not qualify for either category yet felt their grace at hand. I felt at one with all my spiritual ancestors, their wisdom, love, and gentleness as a tangible presence.

One humorous manifestation of that grace occurred one morning when I woke up and opened my eyes to greet one of my swami mentors. He smiled broadly and helped me to sit up, then surprised me with his words: “We are all so happy Ian that you have decided to die with us in India, if indeed you are to die. And we will be most happy should you live.”

To the best of my memory I just smiled and said “Me too!”

He made me some tea with herbs and beamed love and understanding to me before leaving. When I went to sleep that night I was content and happy. I thought about my many mistakes and chose not to deny them or brush aside the bodily pain. I felt very simple, that I was living properly without panic. I felt all my teachers throughout lifetimes gathering together inside and around me, without boundaries.

I felt very calm about the impermanence of my bodily existence. My heart opened wide. While I did the meditations on “Looking Deeply and Healing,” I thought about my many mistakes, and chose not to deny them or brush aside the bodily pain in this moment, for I knew that the experiences of joy and freedom that were flooding through me were dissolving both. I felt very simple, that I was living properly. I was without panic and present with whatever arose.

I did not fear death. This lack of fear gave me freedom and strength, and

opened a huge door to send love and joy to all. I felt my true self, peaceful, not pulled in any direction. Despite all that was going on, I was solidly and timelessly present. I could freely share whatever gifts, skills and energies I had. I finally understood the real significance of the Buddha’s words about The Five Remembrances.

To be with myself at this time—happy and content in the moment—was all I had, and it was enough. As I practiced this meditation, I felt that each moment of life was absolutely precious and somehow, I was communicating this to all that I connected to. Before I slept that night, one last meditation secured me in the refuge of all my spiritual ancestors. Although the focus was on the Buddha, I felt all my teachers and guides throughout lifetimes gathered together inside and around me, without boundaries, and they stayed while I slept. When I fell asleep, I was content and happy.

The next morning, to my surprise and joy, I woke up! Over the next six months, I slowly recovered my health. Friends in North America who tune in to me very closely had booked airline tickets in December to take me out of India to recover. While I was touched by their love, I said no to their proposal.

Whatever the outcome, this particular journey was to be in India. I had written countless Christmas cards to friends and loved ones all over the world and signed them with “Blessings and Love from Ian.” That is what I had wanted to send before my death. Then I lived! And I was even more happy that the cards were sent.

My work in progress took me back to India six years later. My wife Carolyn and I embarked on a pilgrimage with Shantum Seth - In The Footsteps Of The Buddha - through North India and Nepal in February 2003. We journeyed to Rajghir, Bodh Gaya, Varanasi, Sarnath, crossed into Nepal at Lumbini and then to Kushinagar, Vaishali and Sravasti. I created insight poems to provide a glimpse of experiences that are too immense to otherwise communicate. My wish was to record Living Dharma - people, life and experience in their vibrant mundanity. The Footsteps of the Buddha pilgrimage was full of wonder and miracles. It was a journey to the center of being so that everyday life becomes a pilgrimage. Every reality I am engaged with is also a pilgrimage.

Reprogramming the Fear of Failure

There are countless reasons why people think that if they put effort into an endeavour in life they will fail. It’s not just because they’ve failed in the past, or think they‘re unworthy, though both can certainly be contributors. But one of the most profound reasons that people fear failure is because they hold a memory of failing long ago, and their consciousness is trapped in a program that dictates they will fail again: all the perceptions, sensory memories, fears and emotions that comprised the experience of failing continues to feed the sense that there is doom around the corner in the same way, and what comes next can’t possibly be better.

It’s true that, if in childhood, we had an experience that led us to believe that we fell short of some expectation, we created a corresponding subconscious negative ego story from thoughts and feelings of disappointment, frustration or shame. This then serves as a limiting filter through which we weighed subsequent opportunities to experience and grow. If we didn’t have other experiences that restored our self-esteem and healed our self-perceptions, we may still fear that we’ll fail again, and compromise our willingness and ability to succeed. As an example, those who have perfectionist tendencies will try to avoid the criticism they received as a child, and therefore, struggle with taking steps forward if they can’t be assured that they can do it perfectly. It’s the continued expectations of themselves that will press upon them to succeed but conflict with the fear of failing.

It’s also true that our fears of failing were seeded long ago, when alien invasions, holocausts and multiple galactic and planetary wars created extreme trauma in our collective consciousness memory and that of our planet. Quite simply, trauma negatively impacts our nervous system and brain, creates pain and suffering, fragments our wholeness, and generates feelings of powerlessness. Our subconscious memory holds imprints of the abuses that degraded humanity’s highest consciousness, even if our conscious memories were wiped, our DNA was damaged, and our history was rewritten with lies. For example, as humanity collectively moves into the soul body consciousness and the 5th dimension, there’s an opportunity to heal the trauma and fears arising from the explosion of Tara, our 5th dimensional Earth.

Being lost in the dark void, being abandoned by God, fearing abuse of power, or even the fear of planetary explosions are examples of fears related to fear of failing and powerlessness.

through mind control so that there’s an assault on the nervous system and brain, and ego mind, which distorts how reality is perceived. This has propagated ‘victim of trauma’ addiction programs, miasma of shame, and phobias that confuse and diminish our inner clarity, self-trust, self-love and our sense of power.

We fear, play small, hold back, and often remember little of our truth and our greatness. Once the seeds were planted long ago through traumatic events, the controlling forces need only subconsciously trigger the same traumas with repetitive fear-mongering, Armageddon prophecies, and manipulations that maintain instability. Humanity then dooms itself. That’s been, and is, the insidious plan and pattern.

However, your human brain is flexible, adaptable and can be reprogrammed.….

Introduction to Unity: Affirmative Prayer

There’s a joke about a university student taking an exam, and when finished, the professor asks the students to sign a release form to confirm they had received no outside assistance. This particular student was hesitating to sign the form. In the interest of full disclosure he explains to the professor his dilemma: “I just want you to know that before the exam and even during the exam I prayed to God asking for help to do well on the exam… so I don’t know whether I can sign the release.” The professor quickly scans the student’s exam and hands the form and test back to the student and says “you can sign the form with a clear conscience. You clearly did NOT receive any outside assistance.

God did not answer your prayer!”

In affirmative prayer -- the foundation of the Unity movement -- our prayers are always answered because we are the answer to our prayers. There is no relying on or waiting for a capricious god out there to grant our wishes. In other words, with affirmative prayer, we are not praying TO a God we are praying FROM a God consciousness. As spiritual beings having a human experience, we believe that, behind the physical appearance of the human condition which is constantly changing, there is an invisible, eternal, unchanging part of us which is known as divine nature.

We know that we are each an individualized expression of the one power and one presence which is everywhere present. This divine presence within us and all around us means that wherever God is we are and all the qualities of the divine are within us. It’s

not something to get from out there….it’s something to realize, recognize and remember.

With affirmative prayer then, we remember and claim our divine identity which has been temporarily forgotten in whatever human condition and situation we are facing. In other words, we are not praying for conditions out there to change; instead we pray for an expanded awareness of the divine qualities within us.

With this greater acknowledgement of Divine nature, we are then empowered and inspired to take the necessary actions. Unlike our bank account balance or our physical body or the state of our relationships, this Divine nature cannot be seen with human eyes.

It is ever present, yet invisible and that’s why we can forget about it. But make no mistake about it … it is the very energy in which we live and move and have our being. We truly are the answer to our prayers.

The Context Eating Method identifies four main triggers that lead to disordered eating.

Do you feel obligated to eat the rest of the $15 dessert that you bought at the restaurant even though you are stuffed after 3 bites?

Identifying these triggers and simply becoming conscious of them allows you to make informed food decisions, rather than simply responding to the situational stimulus that leads to overeating.

Habitual triggers are things that you do on autopilot...They are things that you do with food that you don't consciously think about.

Things like...stopping at the drive through window to pick up a snack while you are out running errands. You don't stop and ask yourself if you are actually hungry and need a snack...it's just something you do because you are out...

You have pizza on Friday nights...whether you want pizza or not...

You munch away on the food that you are cooking for supper and by the time supper is made you have eaten an extra half a portion...

Physiological triggers occur because your body requires specific nutrients for optimum health.

When you are lacking certain nutrients your body will crave things like fat and carbohydrates leading to weight gain. Once your body receives what it needs, the physiological cravings will stop.

You pour yourself a glass of wine (or two) because it's wine-oclock…

When you sit down to watch TV you grab the bag of chips or chocolate...

You take the same portion size of food that you always take no matter how hungry you are…

Physiological cravings need to be addressed before you can have long-term success mastering the other disordered eating triggers.

You grab a snack on your break at work because... what else would you do on your break?

If you try to address the other triggers without first quenching your physiological triggers you will be completely dependent upon willpower which is not a good long-term strategy to stop disordered eating. This is what diets do and why most people cannot stick to a diet program for the long term.

Habitual triggers can have a range of hold on you. Some are easy to let go of once you become aware of them and others are much more difficult.

Physiological cravings can be easily addressed by giving your body what it is actually craving.

Emotional triggers occur when you have emotional attachments to food.

The drive to overeat can be very strong when it fulfills an emotional need.

Identifying your emotional triggers and finding alternative ways to meet those needs can help break those attachments.

Start with the ones that are easy and then over time, work towards eliminating the ones that are more difficult.

When you start to understand the WHY behind your disordered eating you can then access the information you need to eliminate the need for restrictive diets and finally find food freedom! This is what context eating is all about...

This process allows you to naturally stop wanting to eat your comfort foods, rather than constantly feeling like you are depriving yourself.

It also addressed the idea of "morality based" eating where you feel like you are "good" or "bad" based on the food choices you are making.

Eliminating the idea that you (or even certain foods) are "good" or "bad" can stop the cycle of emotional eating that leads to unhealthy weight gain.

Situational triggers occur when you are presented with specific situations that are associated with certain foods or food quantities. Things like “all you can eat” buffets or celebrating birthdays at the office with cake are everyday examples of situational triggers.

Situation triggers are things that you need to walk into consciously and decide ahead of time what your response to the trigger will be...

Think about what situations are negotiable and what are non-negotiable for you...

WALKING OUT OF LOCKDOWN

Results: Marnie has updated her resume. She reports fewer butterflies in her stomach and more patience with teens. (She has healthier kidneys too, but that is preventive stuff- removing emotions from organs results in less-stressed organs. eg. grief from lungs, anger from liver, loss and sadness from hearts, nurturing issues from breasts.)

I do only what the client’s energy directs me to do. I communicate with their energy with muscle-testing and clairvoyance.

Flora, age 71, vaccine fears, anxiety, dizziness, breast cancer survivor.

Her father, who crossed over several years ago, attended the session.

He had a message of support and love for her. Her reply, through tears: “Thank you Papa. It means so much to me!”

1. anti-anxiety procedure (general calming)

Walking out unscathed, that is, as opposed to crawling out in fear.

Energy healing examples: Marnie, aged 39, survived lockdown with 2 adolescent boys and her husband working from home.

1. calming procedure, removed generalized anxiety.

2. Look and Fix procedure. I am clairvoyant. I saw things in Marnie’s energy asked her energy whether they should be removed. Generally, the image represents an experience or emotion. I removed red (anger) and water over her entire body (overwhelming sadness). I removed chains from around her feet and wrists, a collar from her neck (lack of control and freedom) and some pots and pans. (She says the kitchen work was “unending”.) There was a dog in her aura and her energy wanted him to stay. I described him- small, black, barky. She said it was Bailey who had died several years earlier. (Sometimes I see things that the energy does not want removed: flowers of all kinds, musical instruments, babies, totems... The baby and dog are not really there- it’s love, a memory only.)

3. Holographic healing. Marnie’s energy directed me to her root chakra.

I pulled out a holograph of a dining room table, many people around the table, very crowded and chaotic. Not enough chairs for everyone. My job when seeing a holograph is to fix it. In turn, the chakra becomes less burdened, the body healthier. In this case, Marnie’s energy directed me to add chairs, make the room & table bigger, give everyone some space.

Then I blew the darkness / black away with my breath and replaced it with red, the proper colour for that chakra.

4. Holographic healing on kidneys. I saw a red wagon with only 3 wheels. The client was “fearful about moving forward”. Kidneys hold fears. I put a fourth wheel on the wagon, greased wheels.

5. Past life healing. Marnie’s energy took me to a vision of her life 5 lifetimes ago. She was male, Asian, and stuck behind a locked door. It was a jail of some sort. I unlocked the door & let him out, but, as well, I cleared the emotions from that lifetime. It was resonating with covid restrictions, making it more difficult for Marnie to cope.

6. Sugar Correction. This a Biocomputer Operating System procedure to assist the body with sugar detox. (Ya, I think a lot of us fell into poor eating habits during lockdown.)

7. Calming procedure again, this time specific to “job search”.

(mistrust of medical professionals and procedures, cancer trauma) 4. holographic healing on root chakra. (I repaired a broken house that represented her body.)

6. Look and Fix (medical paraphernalia, a car accident, various stuck emotions- all removed from her aura.)

RELAXATION

When we stop to really look at a word, at times other words embedded within the word appear. Take the word Relaxation. The first sub word that jumps out at me is “LAX”. A quick look up in the webster dictionary reveals the following: Not taut, firm, or compact; slack. Loose and not easily retained or controlled. See Synonyms at loose How interesting as the word lax found within the word relaxation is what is being pursued. It is a signal from our brains to our body to let go of tension. Be in a state of ease and release. This fits so perfectly for the physical state. But what about the soulful state, how does relaxation present itself? What does it mean to be relaxed in relation to spiritual pursuit?

The notion of letting go has become synonymous with spirituality. An expectation of having to give up something to gain wisdom and the peaceful essence that comes with the pursuit of spirituality. However, this is a false principal imposed by humans as it is not derived from the fundamental nature of spirituality. Spirit has no limits, no boundaries, and no expectations. It is the ebb and flow of energy that goes where summoned, serves those that ask and delivers not when it is wanted but when it is needed. Giving up something leaves voids within and causes an urning to comfort the loss felt. That action can lead to comfort being found in means not spiritual but rather more human such as drugs, alcohol or denial of one’s own desires and dreams.

Instead, the pursuit of spirituality is not to fill any void but rather brought in to enlighten the burdens of life, encourage a path forward and draw upon inner strength. All these elements lead to achieving relaxation from deep within the core of oneself. Relaxation does not come from giving up and leaving a void within but doing the opposite, bringing in peace, light and love leaving less room for the elements weighing down one’s soul.

Making the commitment to oneself to no longer force a release of an event, idea or occurrence and instead bring in all that gives you peace, light and love. Amp up what is good within. Turn up the volume on the goodness within your life, your situation, your day and raise that. It will result in the achievement of relaxation to flow within. The lax, or being loose and not controlled will be the effect and lasting feeling.

CHANGING YOUR MIND by: Liz M Raymond

Combining the reframing practice with a daily ritual of writing out one to three things I was grateful for (never repeating the same thing twice) I began to gain a different perspective. I did these simple things along with opening a savings account, nicknamed it “Hopes and Dreams”, and committed to depositing 2% of everything I earned in it. This was the beginning of my mindset shift.

For many years I didn’t take any vacations, not until in recent years. I didn’t think I could afford to. As a solesupporting single mompreneur of two children, with a money mindset that was deep in “lack” I spent much of my time “chasing the money”. When I had it, I firmly believed I wouldn’t have it for long because something always came up that I had to spend it on, unwillingly but necessarily. I worried so much about money (checking my bank account often throughout the day), always wondering when sh*t would hit the fan and take whatever I did have. (I actually read that worrying is like praying for what we don’t want).

Little did I know that changing how I thought would be part of the equation ( needed to change my mindset about money.) Learning how to reframe my thoughts shifted my perspective. Instead of telling myself “I’m broke”, I changed it to “My funds are limited at the moment”. I was trying to build my business so I used to attend a lot of networking events. I knew I needed a different way to tell people I wasn’t able to attend just because I didn’t have enough money. I decided that instead of feeling bad about not having money to attend an event I would change how I answered people. I changed “I can’t afford to go” to “I have reached my quota for this month, but perhaps next month”. I made a consistent effort to begin thinking to myself that “I am strategic in where I put my money” rather than “I don’t have enough money”. The more I practiced the more I was able to

Changing my reality began with changing me. It began with changing my mind.

The mind is a funny thing and it is more powerful than we realize. I watched the documentary “Heal” where it shared stories of people who healed their bodies through using their mind and focusing. “What you think about, comes about.” “Energy goes where focus grows.”

There are several ways to elicit this response: 1. Meditation, any activity that keeps the attention pleasantly anchored in the present moment and just being, ignoring any distracting thoughts, elicits the relaxation response.

2. Deep breathing slows heart rate and lowers blood pressure.

Sit up straight with your eyes closed and one hand placed on your stomach. Inhale through your nose, breathing from your diaphragm, not your chest. You should feel your stomach inflate. Exhale slowly through your mouth.

3. Decompress and reduce muscle tension by squeezing the body part and then releasing it.

4. Get active. Join a mind-body fitness and dance class like Nia, to release feel-good chemicals and help your body work out the stress.

Combined with the healing power of music, Nia’s mindful movement eases tension and anxiety.

5. Laugh often. Laughter lowers cortisol, your body’s stress hormone while boosting endorphins, stimulates circulation and relaxes muscles., improves your immune system and relieves pain.

“Relax and enjoy moving your own Body’s Way” is the message I heard loud and clear in my very first class with my friend Barbara Carriere, also 20 years my senior. I admired how she moved with ease and grace when my mobility was limited. I thought to myself, if she can do this, so can I! Today it is an honour to hear my mentor's wisdom shared in this article about relaxation.

“Stress is how your body and brain respond to challenges, such as pressure at work, the pandemic, job loss, increasing family responsibility, and other negative experiences. Not all stress is bad , and everyone has their unique tolerances to various stressors.

Most people that experience anxiety also experience unpleasant physical (somatic) sensations such as muscle tension, headaches, backaches, a clenched jaw, feeling keyed up, restless and “on edge”, increased blood pressure, sleep loss. These symptoms are a side effect of our body’s attempts to protect us; blood moves around our body and brain, into our large muscles, like our arms, legs, back, and neck, to get us ready to “fight” or to “flee.” This changes the feelings in our bodies as our body is working hard to protect us, and these feelings are uncomfortable! Relaxation happens when the body stops trying to protect us, which helps us feel more calm and at ease.

6. Keep a gratitude journal. Be grateful for what you have, celebrate accomplishments and savor good experiences to cancels out negative thoughts.

Science tells us that too much stress isn’t good for us and can lead to depression, and over time can really impact our bodies and our brains. Your mind and your body are intertwined - what happens to one happens to the other. When you experience stress, whether it is a short-term event (unexpected company arrives and the fridge is empty), a long-term event (how are we going to be able to live on just one paycheck for the next 5 months), whether it is a physical event (sprained ankle) or mental event (generalized worry or fear), your body releases hormones.
