HOLOTROPIC BREATHWORK By:Richard M. Haney, M.Ed., Ph.D.

few years ago I had the good fortune to participate in a one-week Breathwork Intensive at Omega Institute for Holistic Studies in the Hudson River Valley at Rhinebeck, New York. Their website is: eomega.org At this experiential event there was about a dozen top world leaders in the various practices of breathwork and in the psycho-neuro-biology of the bodymind.

Many of these diverse techniques can be practised in corporate, hospital, school and counselling settings. These other forms do not require several hours of focussed loving attention on the breather. They do not require such a disciplined adherence to a “contract” between the breathers, sitters and sentinels, which is an absolutely essential prerequisite and component of Holotropic Breathwork! One of the most powerful presentations was given by a New York psychiatrist who has done extensive research on how our brains process creative and inspirational material.

The “sentinel’s” role is basically to act as a “guardian angel” to safe-guard the Sacred Space of the experiential diadic teams. Thus, the breathers have 2 layers of safety, Sacred care, and nurturing so that they can then go on Spiritual journeys hitherto blocked from their ordinary consciousness. They are then free to follow their bliss! The other forms of breathwork that were experienced and discussed at this wonderful retreat were not as deep or as intensive as Holotropic Breathwork.

However, they may be much more practical when trying to spread breathwork out across the world to different societies, cultures, socio-economic classes and institutions.

Living with Wisdom An article by Lynne Cardinal

Monks have sought solitude for centuries, seeking the space necessary for self-awareness, as well as to develop the ability to deepen their connection with silence. In this period of confinement, we could explore this possibility, to learn the art of living with wisdom, to accept and even welcome moments of silence, stillness and even accept moments of boredom. As in boredom lies gifts, if we can only stay with it, not dread it nor reject it. Our previous active life may have generated dependency towards activities, social gatherings, the busyness of life. From this perspective, we can see this period as an opening, having the time to pause, and realize that our current period of isolation may be a blessing. We can learn to appreciate the quiet, the simpler gifts of life, nature, seasons, the privileges that we have in our own country.

Learning that our alone time should not be something to be afraid of.

I learned a long time ago that feelings of boredom can be accepted; I learned to surrender to them when they arose. To let them emerge calmly and not resist them. What I find is that it allowed something to shift, and I was able to develop an open mind and find creativity. It started with an internal exploration, cultivating compassion, the art of being present and to respect and honour my feelings. I saw that it may take a certain time before the unease turns into a more peaceful or pleasant experience. But once it did, it became the most important relationship anybody ever has, the relationship I had with myself. To stay with my feelings, and observe non-judgmentally. To be open to less comfortable feelings, to give those feelings permission to be, and as I observed them gently, see them morph or drift away.

In our active society, we may have forgotten the value of being quiet, to allow the feelings to come and go, to even allow space for the dreaded boredom, to see it differently and observe what arises from it.

Many great thinkers have explored the spiritual benefits of solitude–Lao

Tzu, Buddha, Moses, Nietzsche, Emerson, Woolf, and so on. Yet, in our current time, the value of solitude isn’t always realized. Perhaps the gift of this period of isolation is to learn to slow down, take time to walk in nature, being present to the beauty and grace that surrounds us. We can also learn how to meditate, and make this a practice that will stay with us, even when our rhythm of life start accelerating again. We may learn ways to simplify our life. As behind activity lies stillness, a serenity embedded in contentment. It is a gift, and it is for us to open it.

I am not encouraging us to become monks and to avoid stimuli. But rather to welcome quiet times, to learn to love those periods, and perhaps realize that there is more to life than it appears to be. As a result, we may feel more grounded, present, peaceful. We may learn that a smile, a kind gesture can be deeply satisfying, for us and for all. We may see more clearly than ever that we are never separate. We may also learn the art of communication.

We can also face our resistance and if needed seek some help.

Sometimes just a few meetings can serve to bring us back into alignment, clarity, wisdom.

Our scathing words for billionaire greed awakes realization that their doomed progeny will also become nothing but broken shards.

The strength of well-written words of new horizons and literacy become the environmental charge to bring necessary strength to the center.

THE FOREST Whisper of wind through pine needles.

Shimmering aspens and soft poplars of the forest.

Green – spring fresh green, a relief to the year round darkness of the spruce’s darker timbre and twin pronged sheaths.

The river denies our passage so we walk through sheltered forests rather than meet our death by foolishness.

We wander and find herbs, trilliums white in dense bush, hiding among the wild strawberries un-bodied with their rich red summer promise.

Guardian trees, lichen laced, protest the spring violets pushing upwards.

In the forest a great many entities of the earth and sky speak of before and what is to be.

Clearings sunk into the earth await further visits.

In the center of one clearing stood a single tall aspen - lonely.

Waiting for companionship, fragile in its aloneness, in her aloneness, in our aloneness.

I stand within her circle - this tree and I and for a brief moment, neither were alone.

re winter blues and Covid drawing you down? Are the issues of Covid such as isolation, separation from family and friends, disruption from your dayto-day routine generating anxiety and depression? Dehydration has been identified as one of the culprits in declining brain health and we offer a simple solution to this: Live water. It takes 32 glasses of pH9.0 alkaline water to neutralize one, eight oz soda! The consumption of aforenoted foods and beverages compromises our immune system.

Psychiatric drugs are often prescribed to treat depression and anxiety. The use of these psychiatric drugs, sucks water out of our brain that is essential for neurotransmitter functionality, thereby increasing dehydration, further exacerbating these conditions.

The dehydration/ acid buildup in our bodies resulting therefrom, in conjunction with that from diet and metabolic further compromise our systems increasing our feelings of depression and anxiety. Furthermore, there is fear, anxiety, depression and stress associated with the severe winter condition. This, in conjunction with the risks associated with the current pandemic spreading, causes the body hormones and neurotransmitters in our brain to work harder and consume more vital resources that need water to keep functioning.

When a person is dehydrated, it affects all functionality and systems in a derogatory manner, including the brain. Water protects the tissues from shriveling up and helps dissolve minerals. The undissolved minerals harden up in the organs of our bodies and, in this case, our brain. When the accumulation of hardened minerals in the brain is left unaddressed – through the medium of hydration using Live water – it has the potential to culminate in severe life-threatening medical conditions.

Proper hydration of the body using the right type of Live water, especially the brain, allows oxygen to be carried to the brain cells, flushing out toxins/ poisons, helps produce digestive enzymes and keeps our bodies pain-free. In our previous articles, we have discussed the side effects of dehydration, its impact on disrupting the flow of energy resources to our brain, culminating in poor brain function and furthering the feelings of anxiety and depression.

This is because they do not have the electro-magnetic energy moved by the fluids in the brain through the right kind of Live water to get rid of their depression.

The cumulative effect of winter-related depression and anxiety, in conjunction with dehydration associated with consumption of prepared and comfort foods and beverages and the use of psychiatric drugs has the potential to culminate in extreme dehydration, generating severe health-related issues and adversely affecting our health overall. This problem can be mitigated by hydrating our brain with clean Live water.

Water has become the most misunderstood and underappreciated nutrient in the world.

It is one of the most important elements essential for optimum operation of our vital organs and systems, most importantly, our brain. Our brain is 80% water that runs the pituitary and hypothalamus glands – glands that regulate our bodily functions. Oxygen from free-radicals compromise the optimal performance of bodily systems and functions, and in the brain, they hamper neurotransmitter functionality.

Oxidization occurs when an oxygen molecule has an overabundance of electrons

which then damages cells in our body. However, when active hydrogen combines with the free-radical oxygen, then the result is water – water that helps the detoxifying of the cells. The use of micro-clustered, electrolyte-reduced, hydrogen-enriched Live alkaline water is readily absorbed by the cells, hydrating the brain culminating in optimum brain functionality. Such ionized water carries oxygen to the cells, culminating in boosting energy levels. e’re experiencing extraordinary changes to our planet and our universal time matrix. The question you may wish to ask yourself is, “Am I feeling genuinely curious about this?” Because there’s plenty of reason to be: while the outer landscape looks at times grim, never forget that in this daily Earth reality, things are not as they appear.

The mainstream media continues to blatantly and desperately lie to humanity about the US election, the virus, the vaccine, the Great Reset, and anything else that will maintain the controller agenda.

Gaslighting, fear-mongering, and distraction is name of the game as they do the bidding for the cabal and the Satanic and Luciferian forces. Yet, the energetic architecture that these forces rely upon cannot exist in our new Earth, and much is already dismantled and the negative forces have been purged.

Additionally, even through alternative media we can only attempt to know the truth. While much less is hidden through these channels, with certainty, there’s just as much, and much more, being held back from the masses – both negative and positive. We can fully expect that in 2021 we will see more disclosure about the negative alien agenda and the immense impact it has had on humanity. This may bring more shock, emotional pain, and feelings of betrayal that we all have been deceived. This stirs old traumas and we have to go through it to heal.

This is the way it is in the journey of the dark night of the soul. A catalyst, often one that shakes up what you think you know, calls you to question and confront what has shaped you in the past and pulls you to discover who you want to be. While that soul-searching and healing can bring up heavy emotions, healing always leads to release of the shadow, relief from the burdens you have carried, and joyful freedom for your Soul-Spirit. This is happening in the Earth’s body, the collective body, and your body. Are you willing to participate in the healing of your shadow in order to know freedom and peace for you and everyone?

Lent and Easter

L

ent, the 40 days leading up to Easter, is a holy season in the Christian world, including at Unity. As The Daily Word tells us: Lent, which started on February 17th, is a time of deep, prayerful contemplation and of spiritual spring-cleaning.

During Lent, we commit to deepening our spiritual understanding and more fully expressing our divinity. To do so, we ask ourselves “which habits or thought patterns are keeping us from being the persons we want to be?”

Sitting quietly in meditation we ask ourselves “what can I give up?” and we release old thoughts and patterns of behaviour. Having released what we do not want, we then turn to the ideas, habits, and patterns we do want. In so doing, we welcome a new way of living.

A good affirmation for this time of year is: I begin my Lenten journey and welcome a new way of thinking and being.

At Easter, which this year falls on April 4th, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, who metaphysically represents to us our own spiritual capacity to have a resurrection experience. Again from The Daily Word: Guided by the resurrecting power of the Christ spirit in us, we are set free from the tomb of lack and limitation.

At Easter, we enter the light of new awareness, a new dimension of life.

Taken metaphorically, we are reminded at Easter

No life escapes this process. The Easter story is about an old way being crucified so something new can be born.

This is not a once-in-a-lifetime event. When someone experiences a divorce, the death of a partner, loses a job, or experiences a shift in external circumstances, an old identity dies so a new one can be born. The Easter story is a reminder that, no matter what seems to happen to us, it does not have the final word. We can look beyond appearances and recognize that there is a divine plan unfolding.

Our task is to hold on to that vision until our life bears witness to truth that liberates us and sets us free.

MY WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY

o I battled with weight for about 25 years of my life. I knew how to train and eat because I was a trainer for much of my life. I trained many people how much pretty good at my job. Even though I was a fat bastard, I’d annually gain 50 pounds and lose 50 pounds. This continued year after year.

Then you see, I became dreadfully bored with this problem. It was just so boring for me to continue to have the same problem year after year and not resolve it.

You see, I had told myself that it’s in copious amounts of sugar and carbs, and generally, too many calories made me happy. And it wasn’t until about seven years ago that I really tested that belief out. I’d gone a few days without eating carbohydrates. So when it was time to re-feed, I had my first sip of the Frappuccino—filled with sugar, caffeine, milk. Everything a growing boy needs. The first sip was amazing. Second set almost as good. But by the third ship, there’s just nothingness. Emptiness! It was in a realized my belief was faulty, and I’d been lying to myself for 25 some odd years.

I promised myself in that moment. The the next time, I nudge to overindulge in carbs. I’d sit down or stand up and face whatever the thing was that I needed to face. Whatever the thing was that I’ve been running for 25 years to avoid. The thing that I’ve been numbing myself to with food for all this time.

So one day, I am walking around City Hall in Toronto. And I had the stroke urge to all of a sudden run home and eat carbohydrates and switch myself off from the world. Now nothing consciously had happened. What I mean by that is nothing bad happened. It just kind of came out of nowhere.

And as I started with my automatic response to start home so I could eat a bunch of carbs and overindulge. I stopped, and I remind myself of my new commitment to facing whatever it was that needs to be faced. So all I can say is this darkness this force essentially came over my head and damn near bought me to my knees.

The same darkness that I’ve been overindulging, numbing myself too, running away from for some 25 years prior. So I member standing there at City Hall and just wanted to run. To run away and hide. Some numb myself to this darkness. Now I don’t know what this darkness was. I didn’t label the emotion, nor did I have an event to trace it back to. But it was very real, and it was essentially in my face and over my head.

So I resolved to just stand there. Stand in it. To feel it. To feel ALL of it. It was horrible, lonely, dark. And I said to myself I wasn’t going to use any of my Hypnosis or coaching skills to overcome it. I was going to feel at all then let it go! See, I knew one thing for sure that no matter how big battle scary it was at some point, I had to go.

Maybe I lost a minute, an hour, a day, a week, a month or a year. But at some point, it would have to go and be replaced with something else. So I timed it. 75 minutes to the T! Then it just evaporated, eviscerated, deleted, disappeared! And you know why it never came back. It’s be 7 years. And it never will.

Of this, I am certain.

See this thing this darkness whatever you wanna call it just wanted me to acknowledge it to fell to be with it sit with it. So be with it. To not run, medicate, or hide. Just be in it to feel totally!

What’s new and exciting? Craniosacral Therapy!

D

o you know that a new physiological system was discovered as recently as 50 years ago? Do you know that this discovery has led to a non-invasive way of relieving stress and anxiety, headaches, neck and back pain, concussion symptoms, vertigo and foggy memory? This physiological system is called the craniosacral system and the therapy that has arisen from its discovery is craniosacral therapy. The craniosacral system gives rise to a gentle rocking motion in every part of the body and this motion (or lack of motion) is an indicator of normal or abnormal tension patterns.

Here is a brief introduction to the craniosacral system, the craniosacral rhythm, and other evaluation tools that are used in craniosacral therapy.

The craniosacral system goes from the head (cranium) to the tail (sacrum) hence the name craniosacral. It is a dynamic system containing the delicate tissues of the brain and spinal cord and enclosed by a tough waterproof membrane. An important function of this system is the production, circulation and reabsorption of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).

The craniosacral system not only circulates the cerebrospinal fluid, but it also produces it. CSF is produced by filters in the brain that allow some of the liquid from the blood capillaries to cross into the brain. At the same time CSF is drained off or reabsorbed by other filters into the venous collection system.

This process creates a cleansing effect in the brain tissue and is important for the health of the central nervous system. There is no need for a pump for the CSF because the filling and emptying of the brain with CSF creates a rhythmical rise and fall of fluid pressure. This is enough to circulate the fluid throughout the system. It’s an ingenious self-contained hydraulic system.

The fluctuations of pressure in the craniosacral system, along with other mechanisms, gives rise to a gentle rocking motion in every part of the body. It is a subtle movement but can be detected by the hands of trained practitioners. This movement is called the craniosacral rhythm (CSR). The CSR is an important evaluation and treatment tool in craniosacral therapy. A healthy person has a corresponding healthy feeling to their craniosacral rhythm. A CS therapist assesses the rhythm using parameters such as symmetry, quality, amplitude and rate. One of the goals of craniosacral therapy is to enhance the craniosacral rhythm and restore it to its unrestricted range of movement and symmetry throughout the body.

Along with the craniosacral rhythm, a craniosacral therapist uses several other methods to evaluate the presence of restrictions to movement, fluid flow and energy. A typical craniosacral session begins with a whole-body evaluation. Some of the tools used in this evaluation are fascial glide, arcing for energy disturbances and spinal cord mobility.

The craniosacral system is a semi-closed hydraulic system that is pulsing in the center of your body. It creates a physiological movement throughout the entire body that assists the movement of body fluids in and out of cells. This craniosacral rhythm is used as an evaluation and treatment tool in the gentle-touch therapy called craniosacral therapy. Over 125,000 therapists in 110 countries around the world are helping clients to better health using this nurturing and noninvasive therapy. Nourishing your Mind, Body & Soul for Business by: Sheri Godfrey

O

ften times when you speak of nourishing your mind, body and soul we gravitate towards health and wellness….and although this is the perfect place to land as being well does affect all aspects of our being, of your life and yes, even your business!

Nourishing your Body seems obvious, good nutrition following the 80 / 20 rule with 80% of the time maintaining clean eating habits and thus allowing for 20% of the time to be indulgent. Yes, sometimes chocolate cake is perfectly acceptable for breakfast and it even pairs well with coffee!

Nourishing your Mind and Soul, well this can be a little more complex! Weeding out the negative energy around you, you know, the people who are not in alignment with your thoughts, beliefs and values. Being still with your thoughts so you can move through heavy stuff that may be weighing you down, reading a good book, listening to your favourite music so you can just ‘be’ in the moment. This is not an exhaustive list by any means.

Moving to business we often fail to see the importance of how all of this ties together to elevate you and your business. We can be so consumed with the hustle and bustle….the business of being busy that we forget to pause and nourish ourselves so we can nourish our business.

Nutrition, check, still equally important and the same 80 / 20 rule still applies. Fueling your body from the inside out gives you the energy and the stamina to pull those long arduous days when needed.

Nourishing the Mind and the Soul is also equally important for your business. When your mind and soul are nourished sufficiently your creative juices can flow effortlessly, you can engage with clients with your full heart, and most importantly when your feet hit the floor in the morning your soul is singing your praises….you are EXCITED to be making a difference.

A new website on the block! by: Diane Oliver

M

y name is Diane Oliver. Whereas I am not a new kid on the block in Tone Canada, my new website is!

During this time of pandemic, we have all had to learn how to look at and relate to things differently. As a result, Unmute the Sacred was born!

Unmute the Sacred is a learning site about the Science of the Sacred-Self. It is philosophical in nature. It contains “Building Blocks” of MP3 files attached to written text that you can explore for free.

Who am I to speak of these things? I am an Indigenous Woman who was born with gifts of sacred-energy healing – I am Shaman-born. I was trained and initiated through my own family. I was taught how to read and deal with Energy and how to navigate the Sacred, beyond the ordinary.

I was raised French Canadian Catholic. I left that path at the age of 16. By the age of 18, I started noticing that I seemed to look at life differently from others. At the age of 27, I started to explore esoteric and personal development teachings. I put myself on a strict course of study. I noticed that when the majority of the people I knew went in one direction, Great Spirit would point me in a different direction. I did not fit into the Western ways of thinking and religious beliefs. I still don’t but respect them.

In my 40’s, I was compelled to start practicing reflexology and study homeopathy. This is when my shamanic healing gifts started to reveal themselves to me in a bigger way! I started to actively study Indigenous ways. This refreshed my forgotten memories and my healing skills improved exponentially. I am a certified trainer/facilitator and an intuitive life coach/mentor.

The “Building Blocks” I share with you, are a combination of Indigenous, Eastern and Western teachings mixed with A Course in Miracles. It is original, copyrighted material, whose purpose is to unmute the sacred within each interested individual. It suggests that there is a different way of looking at things and of moving forward.

I must warn you however, that when you start to unmute your sacredness, old hurts and wounds can come up to the surface. If you find that you need assistance, healing or support in this introspective, energetic work, you can reach out to me. The scope of my work does not include psychotherapy.

Einstein said: “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you always got.” My sincere hope is that Unmute the Sacred – the Science of the Sacred Self will inspire and motivate you to look at things differently and assist you in moving forward and upward strategically, one step at a time.

Lastly, my studies revealed the difference between the Human, earthly way and that of the Spirit Way. STEPS TO STARTING YOUR HOME BASED BUSINESS ...

O

ne of the questions I am often asked is “how did you start your business?” While it’s not easy all the time, it has certainly been a rewarding experience for me over the last 3 and a half years and, most days, I’d highly recommend it.

Over the next two articles, I’ll tell you about eight tips that had the most impact on me. These are the words of wisdom I have learned from so many people that I have met while on this entrepreneurial road.

Love your product In order to sell something easily, you need to know your product and love your product. After coming across an amazing before and after video made by a lady living with balance and stability issues, I quickly jumped on board to get products for my sister who was struggling with the same issues due to MS. Of course, I tried the socks and insoles out too and appreciated the pain relief they gave me in my legs and feet!

Very soon I shared about VoxxLife with anyone who would listen to me!

Make a decision Know your why. Did I want to be someone else’s customer or did I want to share the word about the amazing benefits people were receiving wearing VoxxLife products, and not only buy at wholesale cost, but make money as well?

It was an easy decision for me to make to become an independent representative. I was a retired nurse, however I still had a passion for helping others and from what I could see, absolutely everyone could benefit from wearing this neuro technology and I truly felt I had an obligation to spread the word about VoxxLife.

Get organized Find some space in your house; it could be an office or a corner of the basement, but a space that is dedicated to your business. Immediately set up a filing system as it is crucial to keep good records. Buy yourself a special note book where you can write any ideas that come to mind; make a list of the people you know that might benefit from this technology; what training do you want/need; tax tips to remember, etc. Set up your finances by getting a business specific credit card and bank account. Investigate the tools your company provides to you as they likely provide great inventory and client contact programs.

Get ready Before Covid, I used to recommend you keep on hand a good cross-section of stock for people who wanted to buy right away. Now I suggest you carry a sample of products only. Wear the products yourself and share them with your family. Get wearers’ feedback as stories sell! Know your product inside and out! Who makes the product; where is it made; what is the product made of; what are the benefits of the product; any special instructions required? Then store your samples in a sturdy bag and bring them everywhere you go. Share the news that you are now a proud rep for your chosen company and show off the amazing products for sale on your website ( most companies provide this for you). Eventually, order some business cards. Pass them out as you get to know and develop relationships with new people. ( NB! don’t just push your product on people however! The Blank Page

By Susanne Shields and Tony Gyenis I have always loved paper. It has brought me great pleasure to shop for unique hand made paper that was thin and delicate. I appreciate the care that goes into making the fibers of paper stretched so thin you can see through it and yet durable enough to be written on.

Paper has such power yet, is never discussed. Paper holds the proof of purchase in a receipt, has random numbers on it wrapped in hope of a lottery win, has markings of dates for a calendar to keep us on schedule and has words handwritten by those who journal. Paper can transform to be so many things. It has the innocence of being blank for so long, until it given purpose and direction.

Our soul is much like paper in the sense it starts out in life blank and needing purpose. Throughout our life, our soul fills with stories, experiences, victories, accomplishments, and joy. But life is not always about the joys, as there are moments of hardship, loss, and conflict. The difficult times in life leave a mark on us and for some circumstances can leave a deep impact, because we are not able to move toward forgiveness. If our soul bears the weight of the deep impacts, it will equate to the writings on a piece of paper that tells a difficult story of how and what happened. And, if it were so simple, we could just take an eraser and make it just disappear on the paper.

But this is where the similarities of paper and soul end; we cannot not do any rewinds in life, we cannot just erase a difficult situation, a hurtful moment, or a heartbreak. It remains within our soul.

Being able to heal past a hurt involves forgiveness. Forgiveness is not accepting what happened to you as justifiable or coming to terms with it being ok it happened. What forgiveness is not, is retelling yourself the story in your mind and adding “could have”, “should have”, or “would have”. Forgiveness is not having the last word or seeking a way to make another person see your side of things.

Forgiveness is the act of making the decision to move our attention away from the other person, away from what they did or did not do, or needed to do. This takes the focus off them, off waiting for and wanting them to be different, and moves instead our own energy toward ourselves, our own experience, and our heart. Forgiveness means we do not place importance on having others understand what they have done. We no longer place our worth on having other sympathize with our pain. That is what forgiveness is.

As you consider how forgiveness can free your soul, hold a blank piece of paper in your hand and ask yourself, what can I transform it into: a page in your own story, folded into an intricate piece of origami, reflect your artistic impression within you or part of a paper lantern to set free into a summer evening lighting your journey ahead.

What we get from forgiveness is greater than the pain given to us. We gain freedom. We gain the ability to spread our wings again, not looking over our shoulder to see if they are looking. We take shape of who we have become from the experience and recognize we are strong, we are love, and we are capable of what we set our heart to, regardless of, if it was hurt before. We accept we have no limitations, just like a blank piece of paper.

Working From Home, Getting Clear on What You Can Claim by: Liz M Raymond

E

ntrepreneurship has changed significantly, now that working from home has become a new normal I see too many getting bad advice from someone who is not up to date on the guidelines from Canada Revenue Agency.

I highly recommend you finding a qualified resource! Too much FREE advice is being offered and it’s getting people into trouble!

One of the most important things you need to know is that the expenses must be incurred to earn the business income and they must be reasonable under the circumstances.

Guidelines show you can deduct expenses for the business use of a workspace in your home if one of the following conditions are met: A) It is your principal place of business B) You use the space only to earn your business income and you use it on a regular and ongoing basis to meet clients, customers or patients -- Note that as many businesses are virtual, although your clients/customers do not physically meet you there (especially during COVID lockdowns) as long as the space is used to earn income you are good to go.

Let me help clarify a few things for you.

A) Your home office must be designated a room that is set up solely for your business. Not a corner of your living room or a spare bedroom that has a bed and a desk in it.

B) You need to calculate the space you use - total home square footage versus office square footage. This provides you with the business percentage you can claim.

C) Any maintenance and repairs done in your designated office space, you can claim 100% of the expense.

D) You can claim a percentage (calculated above) of the expenses you incur to run your home: a) Utilities - including heat, hydro, water b) Home Insurance c) Property tax d) Mortgage Interest (if you rent you can claim a portion of your rent) e) Maintenance - Cleaning materials, snow removal and general lawn maintenance (not landscaping) Let’s talk about house repairs! What often causes confusion is when a homeowner does repairs around the house. New furnaces, new roof and even windows are not claimable. Why??? Because they increase the value of your home. Only repairs like patching a hole in your roof, can be included in the repairs and maintenance section of the Business Use of Home expenses where the business percentage can be claimed.

For those of you who are HST registered, you are allowed to claim the same business percentage of the Business Use of Home expense.

Example, $8.00 of HST on your Hydro bill - the business percentage can be claimed - $1.60 of that HST can be added to your HST remittance.

BODY LITERACY THROUGH THE WISDOM OF THE FEET by: Penny Lee Prevost Mother Earth is a rich resource available to each of us every day.

Becoming aware of what is around us, bringing gratitude into our lives, showing appreciation for what is available to us, these are the steps we can take to reach our greatest potential.

Let’s take a look at our FEET, our most basic and obvious source for connecting to Mother Earth.

Debbie Rosas, Creator and Founder of the Nia Technique discovered the healing power of connecting to Mother Earth when she took off her shoes back in the 1980’s after years of pounding on her foundation as a BodSquad Aerobics teacher/trainer. Introducing the very first “fusion fitness practice” done barefoot to music. Listening to the voice of the feet led her on a path of an extraordinary discovery that today is proven by science. Here is an excerpt of her Podcast "GET IN" “When you think about it, your feet are that part of your body that are constantly touching something, most of the day! Your feet act like a conduit that makes it possible for you to allow energy to move, to receive, to draw energy up from the earth into your whole body through your feet you actually receive energy.

The physical and sensory structures of your feet are made alive through the over 7000 nerve endings in each foot. Just think about that in each foot! You have 7000 nerve endings designed to send signals of pain and pleasure. It’s pleasure that we want to notice and pay attention to. It’s pain that we want to respond to. The feet actually encourage you to move and receive that beautiful Chi, Prana. Kundalini energy up into your whole body, all the way up through to the crown of your head. Your feet, while they're your connection below, are also your connection to what is above.

When you “listen” to your feet (meaning when you sense what they're doing), the more pressure you place on the ball of your foot, the more pressure on the heel, you're accessing the intelligence of the body wisdom of your feet, you are becoming body literate. Your feet will tell you how you're standing. Your feet will tell you whether you're in balance or out of balance. The key is to step, gently and confidently, and to use your feet not only for grace, but for power as an upright being to get up from the floor, and to go back down or to get up out of a chair and to sit down in a chair.

Besides your physical connection to your body through your feet, there's also a mental connection. Your feet send information regarding balance and safety. So mentally you can be more relaxed when your feet are in contact with the floor. What does this mean? Let’s Talk Skin!

H

ow is your skin looking these days? Did you know that skin is the largest human organ? The outer layer is called the epidermis. The epidermis is our protective barrier. When our skin is exposed to winter weather elements such as cold air, cold wind, sun reflecting from the snow, in addition to the dry heat in our homes, it’s no wonder how our skin can become dry, flaky and itchy! When our skin is dry, flaky and itchy, that is when our skin can crack and bleed. Hands are especially affected by winter with cracked bleeding skin.

Now, apply hand sanitizer on those hands. OUCH! My father was a Bread Salesman and every winter his hands and fingers would split, bleed and be so sore.

Keeping our skin moisturized during the winter takes a little effort but is well worth it! Here are a few tips on how to add moisture to your skin during the winter months: ● Heat is drying. Add moisture to your home. Try running a humidifier to put moisture back into the air. ● Water is hydrating! Increase your water intake to help hydrate your skin. ● Showering/bathing strips your skin of moisture! Avoid long showers and baths. Use warm water instead of hot water. After bathing or showering pat dry your skin and apply moisturizer to damp skin. ● Sun is damaging! Always wear sunscreen. Even in the winter!

Applying these tips and taking extra care to gently cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize your skin will be very helpful in combating the effects of winter on your skin. Having a healthy, glowing skin is achievable, even in the winter months!

People are always commenting on how young and healthy my skin looks. Considering my age that is a true compliment! I have always taken care of my skin since a young age of 12. Cleansing, exfoliating, toning and moisturizing, both face and body.

The key is using good quality products that do not have any bad ingredients that are harmful to your skin or block the pores. You want to use products that promote good skin health and result in glowing healthy skin. Products that allow your skin to breathe.
