ur relationship with the planet is bankrupt.

As a species we no longer recognize what is sustainable. A consumerist mentality permeates every facet of society, even many ‘green’ endeavors. Many initiatives are priding themselves on being ‘the one’, when in actuality they are the same old strategies, just repackaged to look different.

There is an absence of relationship with our natural world. There is no intimacy. There is no awareness of relationship to our environment, let alone awareness of self. The precious and magical web of life goes largely unacknowledged.

We occasionally surface and have moments of clarity… but when we do, the guilt rushes in. So we shut down that thought process and dissociate from our place in the web of life once again.

No matter what your creation myth, this is what you arose from. This is the planet, the energy that sustains the physical body you are currently inhabiting. You are an individual and you are part of the whole, part of a larger system. Don’t fool yourself… every choice you make impacts the whole.

Take a moment to breathe, listen with your body not your mind, and ask yourself some hard questions: • Is scarcity truly an element, a current presence in my life or just a story, an illusion that I have bought into?

• Am I willing to explore what ‘consumes me’, what thought processes drive me to live this way?

• Am I consuming blindly or consciously? In every moment, once a day, once a week, once a month?

• Am I willing to transform my consumption of products, patterns of behavior, beliefs?

• If I am part of an evolving species, what reality am I creating in how I engage with myself in collectives?

Do I follow the herd or do I choose to be the change?

• How do I choose to nurture my relationship with the earth, with my earth family and with myself?

• Am I willing to choose for myself in every breath?

To live from an internal point of reference instead of succumbing to perceived outside influences?

• What is the reality I am feeding myself? What do I choose to consume?

Immersing and emerging with supra—consciousness

o “re-pair” yourself it is very empowering to “prepair” yourself by re-treating your self to your self.

Incredible healing is possible when you are in a deeply relaxed state. The best way to do this is to totally unplug from your busy, modern lifestyle. You “carve out” a “hermit spot” in your psyche and in this space you totally recharge your batteries.

Whether you maintain this supra-conscious state for one minute, one hour, one day or one week, you can garner many benefits from it.

Hypnotherapist Milton Erickson asks the question, ” Would you be willing to consider that you can remain in this state virtually all of the time?”

Another way of saying this is: “Re-member to remember to stay supra-conscious.” In this state, the body, the mind and the spirit are all one.

When you are immersing yourself into this state, the factors that must be considered and carefully architectured into the process are your mood, your mindset (projections, expectations, etc.), the physical setting, the other person(s) present and the topics or activities to be experienced or encountered.

If you choose to journey into a prolonged re-treat for several days or more, the following are some suggestions that you can use for your “re-treat preparation”. Note that they are quite reminiscent of the state of being of a very young, unspoiled baby (supra-consciousness is a balanced blend of simple consciousness and self-consciousness).

I am re-treating myself to myself by immersing myself into the following: Just pure be-ing.

Be-ing free-spirited.

Be-ing each feeling…in each moment.

The present tense only.

Outside of time. No clocks.

Be-ing immersed in Love.

Having lots of fun.

Be-ing nearly invisible to others.

As little human contact as possible.

No contact with family and friends.

As little talking as possible.

Long comfortable silences.

Tons and tons of rest and naps.

Only limited amounts of good food.

No alcohol. No coffee. Little sugar.

Lots of exercise. Many long walks.

No business. No work. No bills.

No doorbell. No mail. No e-mail.

- Adjust your body to be as comfortable as possible.

- Incorporate any noises or movements from the “outside”.

- Attempt to transcend thinking and, if you can’t, incorporate it.

- Have your cheque or payment method completed as much as possible before the session, so that it is not on your mind. c. The Day After (Emergence) • Adhere, as much as possible, to the “re-treat preparation” list.

• Plan the day as an “easy day”. Slowly re-integrate into your regular pace.

• Synthesize rather than analyze your hypnotherapy experience.

Grief – Working with Angels

A

s an AngelTherapy® Practitioner, it is my duty to talk about angels now and then! This article will focus on the different archangels you can call upon to assist in grief.

Any griever can tell you just how easy it is to slip into periods of desolation at the drop of a hat, regardless of how much time has passed since the loss of a loved one.

While these periods of grief resurface with different intensity and for a variety of reasons, they nevertheless are difficult to overcome. How long we suffer is up to us, but admittedly it takes discipline, knowledge and willingness to pull ourselves out of any slump. My daughter died 9 years ago this July. I am not immune to the recurrence of the pain from my loss, though I do know how to get myself out of the darkness quickly.

The following tips and tools can help you too.

1. Accept what you are feeling but be determined to let it be temporary.

2. Get angry and tell someone you are mad! It feels great to relieve some of the pressure.

3. Focus on one positive thing that feels believable and hold onto the vision. Don’t make it too big. Pick something that brings a minimal yet immediate sense of relief (i.e. something you recently accomplished).

4. Trust that things will get better. You don’t have to worry about how.

5. Share how you are feeling with a partner, friend, maybe your kids. Sharing can be soothing.

Even if you have never worked with angels or believe that they exist, I have recently witnessed people receive messages and miracles when they decided to give working with angels a try. Angels are the ONLY resource I turn to for healing or immediate relief. Here are names of a few that can bring instant comfort and relief, along with their aura colour. Simply ask for help with any issue related to the various topics:

6. Archangel Metatron to assist in comforting or solving problems related to children. Children do not need to know you are requesting help on their behalf. Metatron will assist regardless, especially if it’s in the best interest of the child (watermelon red and green).

Working with angels in general can also be of benefit if you don’t want to get too archangel specific.

However, I have found that going to the right angel for the right job can be of immediate help and relief.

Remember, looking too hard for answers will not make them more obvious. Life, as with all matters, is in the details. Manifesting what you want and need may first show up as something you don’t. Stay flexible and keep an open mind.

I

find that for myself and for so many of the people I speak with, we live a life that is not fully reflecting our potential. We tend to limit ourselves, perhaps afraid of being arrogant, or concerned that we may be taking too much territory. To be humble is even admired.

So to be humble is good, but are we limiting ourselves with this very desire to be humble? And if so, how to manifest that great potential in a balanced way?

I believe that it all starts with insight.

Developing insight about ourselves, our tendencies

and predicaments is a powerful way to begin the journey into developing further competencies and to live with greater awareness. I have a body, but how does my body feel? What messages is it sending me and am I paying attention? A client of mine entering the difficult state of professional exhaustion told me that she still continued to adhere to her loyalty to her employer, despite signs of deep physical distress. Do we listen to our body? Do we watch our mind field, our thoughts, hopes, fears, concerns, emotions? Certainly, the first step is to stay with those emotions and see what message they hold for us.

Living with awareness seems to be a path most fulfilling for it generates positive transformations and will enable us to move forward and build the future that we wish for.

This is where we start asking the important questions: What do I truly want in my future? Isolation and resentment, or love, forgiveness and freedom? I see this as the path of awakening that provides us with a deep sense of satisfaction, which all starts with insight.

But what is the nature of insight? If we look at the etymology of the word, exploring the true meanings and values of words, we find that it means inner sight, mental vision and wisdom.

However, sometimes from the level of the superficial mind the shifts we need may appear difficult to achieve. Yet we all have inside us great capacities and from the level of our subconscious mind hypnosis can help us achieve those desired changes. Hypnosis is all about co-operation between the hypnotherapist and the client so that the clear objectives of the client are attained. That is why hypnosis is so efficient.

Are You Arguing with Life?

W

hen the negative ego dislikes anything that is unfolding in life, whether it’s minor or profound, it will resist. This only creates suffering. Trying to push past it, or avoid it is only more resistance. So how do you manage your ego when resistance persists?

Defining resistance clarifies all else. Ego resistance can be described in many ways, but when I heard Adyashanti refer to it as “arguing with life”, it seemed to be an equally accurate description for ego’s dissatisfaction with big change as much as its grumblings about daily life. No matter how you describe it, when you are resisting, you are unwilling to accept what is and you move against the flow of experiencing.

I define resistance as being out of alignment with your Highest Self. Only your Higher Self views each experience in trust and acceptance that it is an opportunity and choice-point for your Highest Good.

Even when, or especially when, life is difficult or seems to be unravelling, you can remain aligned with the flow of things by being Spirit-directed.

There is great value in recognizing your own ways of resisting amidst its many forms, so that you can create conscious choice through them: • trying to change what is beyond your control • not following through on your higher guidance • pushing away uncomfortable emotions (anger, hurt, boredom, receiving love, etc.)

• thinking you should be somewhere else other than ‘here’ • living your life according to an idea of how you should live • living in the future or the past • hurrying through life, or completely dis-engaging • acting emotionally immature because you don’t like what’s happening • pushing ahead on false deadlines or expectations • upholding inner conflict • demanding what you want– now!

• debating or negotiating with your Higher guidance • not discerning when to allow or engage your energies • blaming others instead of looking within • leaving interfering fears unaddressed • repeatedly distracting yourself or trying to deny what’s already conscious • holding God as someone outside of you, or who judges/rewards • not forgiving yourself

from the comfort zone of your old self. You can’t force an ego death, however, at such times, it’s important to participate with your resistance/letting go. Otherwise, resistance can painfully drain your energy.

One way to tackle resistance is to witness yourself.

Each time you face a choice-point when you can either align with ego or your Higher Choice, but you still want and do choose ego, go ahead and do that without judgment. Accept the resistance is still there. However, be sure to very consciously acknowledge your choice every time. Eventually, you are likely to get tired of watching yourself make the less supportive choice and choose differently.

The more thorough method is to fully embrace the resistance like a limiting emotion: when it surfaces, be willing to sit in it, and accept it fully. Then using self-inquiry, unravel the ego story and payoff that’s behind it. This approach will also dissolve the energy of the underlying fear-based emotions that feed your resistance.

If you have been mired in resistance for a while, it’s helpful to seek support to clear obstacles to your Highest Soul Purpose and Expression. Especially if you are awakening to your multi-dimensional self, or stepping into your authentic power, you may feel deeply entrenched influences or triggers from other timelines interfering with your willingness to take a leap of faith now.

Learning How to Calm Your Mind

D

o you ever wake up in the middle of the night with frantic thoughts about all you need to get done the next day? Are you ever unsure about where to start because you have so much to do and no time to get it done?

Everyone has these feelings from time to time, but you can learn to calm your mind. A calm mind is a more attentive and proactive mind, and in learning to remove anxious thoughts, you can learn to enjoy your life far more than you already do!

How to Achieve Peace Within When you have a mind that will not stop, you usually are hard-pressed to find inner peace. The more your mind races, the more anxious and frustrated you may become, and this can lead to unproductive days, weeks, and even months. You don’t have to continue to live this way. There are many ways to calm your overactive mind and you really can learn how to live a more calm and peaceful life.

If your mind starts running a million miles a minute and you’re not sure which way to turn next, try to pause and repeat a positive affirmation. When you use the power of positive self-talk, you will program your mind to work in a new and different way.

When things seem as if they are getting out of hand, you can use an affirmation such as, “I trust my ability to relax. I am calm and peaceful.” Although this may not be the case at the moment, if you repeat this constantly you will start to believe it. This will help you change your inner dialogue in those moments when you are tempted to succumb to the craziness surrounding you.

Positive affirmations are important because they give you permission to turn off the negative dialogue in your mind and replace it with positive thoughts. The negative dialogue feeds the feelings of turmoil, and when you replace them with peaceful affirmations, you change your life, one positive statement at a time.

If you have a hard time believing that this strategy will work for you, give it a try with an open heart and mind. It really does work! In no time at all, you’ll feel more peaceful and reap the benefits in every area of your life.

Many of us feel like we cannot do anything about the crazy lives we lead and the inner discontent we feel. I can assure you that this is not true! When you use positive affirmations, you can reprogram your brain so that there is only room for positive thoughts. You will be surprised to find how quickly a positive affirmation such as, “I trust that there is a plan for my life, even if it has yet to be revealed to me” can work for you.

If you feel like your life has gotten off course and you don’t think it’s possible to lead a calm life, why not give a peaceful affirmation a chance? If you repeat

affirmations often enough, you’ll soon begin to believe them, and you’ll turn a seemingly simple statement into reality.

our body strictly regulates its level of acidity, using buffers such as alkaline mineral salts (for example, calcium carbonate). When the pH becomes acidic (less than 7.35 in the blood) the body will use any and all means to keep the pH balanced.

How do we become acidic? Acids are produced normally through your body’s metabolism. In hyperacidity, the amount of acids produced is more than normal. Acidosis can occur from various causes such as too much meat consumption, too little fruit and vegetable intake, stress, allergy and sensitivity, inflammation, medications and environmental toxins.

No one can escape at least some of these on a daily basis.

Acidosis is a concern because when the level of acids increases, the body uses its built-in buffering systems to neutralize them. If levels are too high the body will use any buffering substances which are stored in the body to keep the blood pH stable.

It will resorb calcium and other alkalinizing minerals from bones teeth and nails in order to maintain a stable alkaline pH. If your oxalate levels from food are too high (gout or FM sufferers) for example, the oxalates can prevent calcium from being absorbed from the digestive tract, even if you are eating well. (Sidebar: multi-strain probiotics prevent high oxalic acid levels by breaking down oxalates in foods). Nature has figured all this out for us. Today’s lifestyles are far from how nature programmed us. As such, we need to adjust diet, exercise and nutritional supplementation accordingly. Those with a tendency to pseudo gout, gout and Fibromyalgia should eat a low oxalate, low purine diet and take probiotics religiously.

The body stores excess acids in its connective tissue and in fat structures. This causes inflammation and degeneration throughout the body and can lead to cellulite formation. Women are more prone to cellulite because they have fat structures that are configured differently from those of men. This is an effect of estrogen. ne of the most frequent issues my clients bring is their challenge in living or working with negative people. My clients tell me they work so hard to stay bright, cheerful, positive and upbeat, they feel beaten up by someone who dwells in pessimism, negativity, cynicism and criticism. It brings them down, makes them angry, depressed and ill and they need to know how to not let it affect them in such a detrimental way.

There are many things we can do when we encounter negativity. The first thing is to extend love to yourself, surrounding yourself in a ball of glowing golden white light. I put the light around me then put a fine mesh of gold around that allows the love out, but does not allow the dense, negative energy in. I continue to extend love to fill my aura ball and begin sending love to them. We all know that someone who is lashing out really just wants to be loved. They don’t love themselves and are desperate to receive love yet reject it at every turn as they believe they are unlovable and undeserving of receiving it. Just keep extending love. They need it, they really want it, but feel unworthy to receive. You are love and benefit from extending the love from you.

Second, see them as the wounded, unhappy beings they are. See them as a hurt, frightened child needing love, attention and support. Nobody really wants to be miserable, unhappy and negative. They have gotten lost and don’t know how to find their way out.

Your love, kindness and understanding can have a huge effect on their behaviour. Everyone really wants love and acceptance. They are unable to do that for themselves, but you can help by role-modeling self-love and emanating love to them.

Third, and very important. Do not take their actions toward you personally. They are projecting their unhappiness and self-judgment on to you. You do not have to accept it; see it for what it is, their own misery flowing out where they can see it. They think it is you that is the problem, when in fact, it is their own unresolved issues they are seeing. When you know that, you can remain impartial to their behaviour and with love and acceptance be a witness to their journey. Do not take it on and make it your issue; it is not.

Stand strong in your knowing of who you are. You are a Divine, Radiant Being of Light and Love here to raise your consciousness, the consciousness of all sentient beings on the planet and the planet’s consciousness itself, and here to help usher this universe into Divine Love. We are doing it. We are making a difference. We chose to incarnate at this time; we knew it would be challenging because we would forget our mission, but we knew that we would begin awakening to our Divine Potential in this time period. TRUST IN MEDIATION “Nothing is as fast as the speed of trust.” Stephen M. R. Covey wrote these words in his 2006 book The Speed of Trust. Trust always affects two outcomes – speed and cost, writes Covey. When trust goes down, speed goes down and cost goes up. Conversely, when trust goes up, speed goes up and cost goes down.

Although Covey was writing about the business world, his insights are also applicable to the world of separation and divorce. When we hear about divorces that are taking two years and a six figure legal bill to finalize, the reason is rarely because the case is substantively complicated. Rather, it is because it is emotionally complicated, and distrust between the parties is a key component of this.

The negotiation of a divorce settlement that is fair for both parties requires communication. “But what is communication like when there is no trust?” asks Covey.

“It’s impossible. It’s like walking through a minefield.

What if your communication is clear and precise, yet there is no trust? You’ll always be looking for hidden meanings and the hidden agenda. A lack of trust is the very definition of a bad relationship.”

(I’m not talking about blind trust here, but rather what Covey refers to as “smart trust.”

Trust in mediation does not mean that people simply take each other’s word for something. Full financial disclosure is just as important in mediation as it is in the adversarial process, with parties providing the same documents (income tax returns, RRSP statements, etc.) as they do in the adversarial process, but in an overall atmosphere of trust. ) I have a couple in mediation right now who illustrate the power of trust. Cindy had strong personal reasons for not wanting a 50/50 division of the couple’s assets. Bob understood and respected those reasons, even though the law would have given him one-half their assets.

Bob opened up the mediation with what he called his “mission statement” for mediation, a series of criteria he wanted the final settlement to meet. These included his wish that Cindy be able to stay in the family home with their children, as well as his desire that Cindy feel the overall settlement was “fair in all the circumstances, not just legal.” Bob concluded his opening statement by saying that the law and his mission statement were incompatible and, accordingly, he wanted to follow his mission statement and ignore the law.

Cindy was clearly affected by his statement, which she said took her by surprise and which required a week or so for her to fully digest. Then, at the next session, she said she also wanted to make an opening statement.

She then revealed that she had recently obtained a private appraisal of the matrimonial home that gave a value $20,000 higher than the value she and Bob had

Because she now trusted him to “do the right thing” in all the circumstances, she wanted him to know about the higher value for the home, and to take this into account in the settlement. Because their trust level has increased, Cindy and Bob are now well on their way towards working out a settlement that truly works for their family and feels fair for them both.

The subtitle of Covey’s book The Speed of Trust is “The One Thing that Changes Everything.” It certainly does.

D

iscrepancies in desire is a common issue that brings couples to our office. It is not uncommon for one person to have a higher desire for physical/ sexual intimacy than the other. Another issue may be low desire in both couples.

One of the first things we do is normalize differences in desire. We might point out that two people rarely have the same desire for anything; whether it is for food or purchasing something new. It is usually the lower desire person who controls the speed. We might ask, “So what do you do when one of you is hungry and the other one isn’t?” We typically get responses like, “We’ll go ahead and eat together anyway,”, or “One person will have a snack that will tide them over.” We say that this is not that different from a discrepancy in desire.

We then go on to explore with them the meanings they make of dissimilarities in desire. We often hear about stories of rejection, abandonment, mistrust, entitlement, self-sacrifice, or defectiveness.

In this article we want to explore, the role that willingness plays in desire. People get stuck thinking that desire is something they can’t control, that they are at the effect of whether it is present or not. They think that desire has to be present for there to be a sexual relationship. This concept of desire is linked to a young person’s response, which we might call lust.

It is hormonally driven. It is also driven by dopamine, the hormone that is released when the relationship is new. Inevitably, in long term relationships, hormonally driven desire lessens.

That is when willingness becomes important. Are you willing or interested in exploring the possibilities even if at first you don’t feel like it? Many of us have had the experience of not feeling hungry, but when seeing, smelling or tasting a delicious meal someone has made, we realize we are hungry after all. The same is true for physical and sexual intimacy. I may be caught up in the busyness of my life, and not feel desire. But when I get willing, I realize it is exactly what I need right now. I

Allergic Rhinitis and Acupuncture

A

llergic rhinitis, often called hay fever or seasonal allergies, is an allergic response to indoor or outdoor airborn allergens, such as pollen, dust mites, or pet dander. This causes cold-like symptoms such as runny nose, congestion, sneezing and sinus pressure.

For many people, allergic rhinitis is seasonal, worse at certain times of year, especially in the spring, summer or fall. But some people experience year-round.

Allergic rhinitis is due to an over-reactivity of the immune system. The immune system mistakenly identifies a harmless airborne substance as something harmful, and then starts producing allergy-causing antibodies in a process called sensitization. Every time the body comes in contact with the substance after that, these antibodies recognize it and signal the immune system to react, releasing chemicals (such as histamine) that lead to the irritating symptoms of hay fever.

Allergic rhinitis can be triggered by either seasonal or year-round (perennial) allergens. Seasonal triggers include tree pollen, grass pollen, weed pollen, and spores from fungi and molds, which can be worse in warm-weather months. Year-round triggers include dust mites, cockroaches, pet dander, or spores from indoor and outdoor fungi and molds. Symptoms usually develop immediately after exposure to allergens and often start or worsen at a particular time of year, such as in the spring when they are triggered by tree pollen, grasses, or weeds. People with sensitivities to indoor allergens such as dust mites, cockroaches, mold or pet dander may have year-round symptoms.

Common symptoms include runny nose and nasal congestion, watery or itchy eyes, sneezing, cough, itchy nose, roof of mouth or throat, sinus pressure and facial pain, swollen, blue-colored skin under the eyes (allergic shiners), and decreased sense of smell or taste. More intrusive are symptoms of sleeplessness, fatigue, and irritability. Conventional treatment may involve overthe-counter and/or prescription medications to relieve symptoms. Medications may include nasal or pill-form corticosteroids to treat and prevent the inflammation symptoms, antihistamines for itching, sneezing, and runny nose, decongestants, or medications that have an effect on the immune system.

With Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the lungs, kidney, and immune system often play a role in the cause of allergies. Allergy is very often due to a kidney deficiency because the kidneys are responsible for breathing as well as sneezing. The kidneys also play a role in our immune system so when the kidneys are weak, our immunity is affected. In the case of allergic

rhinitis, this manifests as a hyper-reactive immune response. The more severe the kidney deficiency, the more frequently the allergic reactions are experiencedthis includes year-round allergies to allergens such as dust, fungus, or animals.

A kidney deficiency leaves the body susceptible to external environmental invasions, leading to an invasion of wind in the nose, and this is when allergy symptoms begin to occur. Wind-cold pattern will produce symptoms of sneezing, profuse runny nose with white-watery discharge, pale complexion, stuffed nose, slight headache and no thirst. Wind-heat pattern will lead to sneezing, runny nose with white-watery discharge, itchy throat, itchy red eyes, and slight thirst.

During allergy season, frequent acupuncture treatments focus on alleviating the symptoms experienced and often yield a quick response. Patients may notice a decrease in their nose stuffiness, sneezes, and number of itching episodes around the eyes, as well as an increase in overall energy levels. Outside of allergy season, treatments may be less frequent and focus on correcting the underlying imbalance in order to strengthen the body and boost the immune system in order to prevent future allergic reactions from reoccurring.

When I was searching for help for my daughter who had been diagnosed as possibly being ADD and having a learning disability, I happened on the book The Gift of Dyslexia. It was the first time that I read anything that recognized my child’s difficulties in school as an innate talent, and didn’t describe her as “disabled”. It was hard to believe at first, as it seemed to contradict what others were saying.

It was the only thing I could find that explained why she was having trouble and how it could be overcome.

It was the first time anything made sense - how she could read words like “caterpillar” but she could not figure out the difference between the words “what” and “that”. It was also the only thing that explained why one day she could read and the next day (or minute) she couldn’t.

Her teachers were skeptical. They weren’t sure a week out of school was a good thing for a student who was “already struggling”. I decided that if my daughter was not understanding her school work, missing a week and doing a program to help, couldn’t hurt that much.

Her teachers, however, were convinced when she came back reading at grade level, and she no longer needed to take breaks from the classroom to regain her focus.

On the last day of my daughter’s program she smiled, held her head high and read from a book she couldn’t have gotten through a paragraph of a week before, even with assistance. More importantly, she enjoyed reading it because she understood what she read. The program has helped my daughter and me to understand the truth about her “learning disability”, not as a “disability” but as dyslexia and dyslexia as a gift.

More important for me is that my daughter now enjoys reading, writing and her school. Her confidence is back and when she is confused or doesn’t understand her school work she knows how to help herself, get focused and then get the help she needs. These days the only “chats” I’m having with teachers are about how well she is doing and how much they enjoy her. I would recommend the Davis programs to anybody having learning problems.

Is Shiatsu Painful?

T

he most common question I have been asked by new clients is if shiatsu is painful.

During a treatment the pressure applied can be as deep or as light as the client needs. Some clients may require deep pressure but at times the body is may not respond to deep pressure and light pressure should be applied. As a shiatsu therapist it is important to keep connected to the client at all times during treatment to apply the most effective treatment.

No pain, no gain isn’t always the best when it comes to a shiatsu treatment. I have heard from clients whom have received deep pressure during their treatments and come out feeling sore for days. In this situation they are arriving for a treatment expecting an uncomfortable treatment and their body is already tense. Their yang energy (protective energy) is very strong. The body is so guarded bracing for an uncomfortable treatment reducing the effectiveness of the treatment. In these cases a yin treatment would be best as it helps to reduce the yang energy allowing the body to receive a deeper treatment. With Yin treatments (light pressure) the body will start to respond to the therapist’s touch, leaving the client feeling relaxed and balanced after a treatment.

Shiatsu’s main purpose is to balance the meridian’s (energetic pathways) and release stagnant energy called tsubo points. This treatment can be given with deep or light pressure, achieving the same end result.

he dictionary describes a boundary as a limit. As humans we have many possible boundaries.

We have physical and sexual boundaries, as well as thinking, feeling and behavioural boundaries.

Our external boundaries pertain to everything in our environment. External boundaries determine when and where we will allow others to touch us. We also have internal boundaries. Healthy internal boundaries allow us to take responsibility for our thinking, feeling and behaviour. This also allows us to realize that others are responsible for theirs.

This shows us that it is inappropriate to manipulate and control others.

Some people have little or no boundaries, walking around not knowing if they are being abused or if they are abusing someone else.

Some people have holed boundaries. Some times they can say no and other times they give in when they really do not want to. They may be able to set boundaries some time but are unable to when they are sick, frightened or tired. They are only partly aware.

Still others have walls that consist of anger, fear, silence or words. The wall of anger con be expressed either verbally or physically. The wall of fear is used to escape or retreat from others in order to feel safe. A wall of silence allows the person to fade into the woodwork.

(Lost Child.) Still others carry a wall of words. This allows them also, in a way to become invisible because people will often tune them out.

People will often move from a wall to nonexistent boundaries. They can move back and forth between the two. This happens because when they feel the pain they quickly try to turn the pain off and the only way they know how to do this is to put up their wall. This can be lonely.

pring is in the air, can you smell it? I want you to be able to smell the lilacs, the apple blossoms and soon, my most favourite Ottawa feature of all, the Russian Olive blossoms.

Essentially, all unwanted and natural human reactions to life are now the purview of psychotherapy to assess and treat where there can be no other means permitted of resolving the unwanted reactions. The only treatment can be psychotherapy, as prescribed by the College of P s y c h o t h e r a p y, despite the fact history has shown that most human issues such as anxiety, stress management, depression, chronic pain, fears, psycho-spiritual and subconsciously-rooted emotional issues have not usually been effectively resolved by psychotherapy.

Effect of this law on alternative practitioners, spiritual advisors, healers and their clients: While alternative practitioners may not immediately feel the imposition on their right to offer their alternative services, the stage has been set through this legislation for the ‘creeping elimination’ of all treatments that do not fit the psychological and psychiatric models through restrictive College rules, regulations and impositions.

It would seem that the underlying agenda in this action by the licensed professions is to eventually eliminate the availability of all popular alternative therapies for normal human disturbances and to centralize control of the treatment and assessment of same in the hands of psychotherapists, psychologists and psychiatry. Despite 75 years of self-promotion by the licensed professions, independent science has not shown their treatments to be more effective or efficient than alternative approaches and in fact, studies have shown they are often less effective, less efficient and too often, very harmful.

What it means for all non-licensed health & wellness practitioners: Once this College of Psychotherapy is proclaimed in the fall of 2014, and therefore its regulations made courtenforceable, anyone who is involved in any way, shape or form with individual treatments, therapy, counseling or ministration to another for thought, cognition, mood, emotional regulation, perception or memory that may impair the individual’s judgment, insight, behaviour, communication or social functioning (which is essentially all normal issues of life) and who is not registered with the College as a psychotherapist will be prohibited from continuing and potentially subject to severe fines.

In other words, all alternative wellness specialists, including clergy, are deemed to be psychotherapists by another name. If a practitioner helps people with

grief, anger, resentment, self-sabotaging behaviors, persistent sadness and depressive feelings, or if they advertise services for anxiety, fears, phobias, compulsive behaviors, chronic pain, stress and unwanted habits and addictions, they are engaging in psychotherapy despite using approaches and techniques not remotely associated with psychotherapy.

How to help with Actions now Underway: (1) Lawyer T.J.Green of Green & Associates, Ottawa has been retained to file formal appeals with the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care for legislative amendments to the Psychotherapy Act, 2007 to ensure a change in the definition of ‘a controlled act of psychotherapy’.

The amendments sought would prevent restrictions of the activities of non-psychotherapy therapists, spiritual healers, counselors, practitioners and clergy. The amendments would seek to establish that psychotherapy is only ONE means of treatment among many legitimate, safe treatment options. This must be done before by June 2014.

(2) We seek testimonials from satisfied clients who resolved their issues with alternative treatments means AFTER having tried psychotherapy, psychologist or psychiatry treatments. Such stories will be put into affidavit form for the client’s signature at no cost to them and attached to legal submissions to support the appeals.

ine Gate Mindfulness Community and Asian Buddhist communities in Ottawa – from Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and Thailand - worked together to bring about a joint Vesak Celebration in Ottawa City Hall on May 4, 11.00am – 4.30pm. The 2014 Vesak Festival had the good fortune to receive guidance from three spiritual advisors – Master Bon Dat, Bhante Rath Sam and Dharmacharya Ian Prattis. They each come from different Buddhist traditions in Ottawa and three different countries – Vietnam, Cambodia, Canada. They established a common cause to spread the seeds of Buddha Mind across Ottawa for the Vesak Festival in Ottawa City Hall, Jean Pigott Place, on May 4, by creating an atmosphere of generosity, humility and kindness.

The planning of the program, participants and networking all went very smoothly. Organization meetings were held during the winter months in the various temples and mindfulness centres in the city.

Support for these efforts of multi-culturalism and interbeing came from all levels of government in Canada. The Governor General, Prime Minister, Premier of Ontario and Mayor of Ottawa fully endorsed this initiative, which is new to Ottawa and indeed new to Canada. The three advisors ushered in a consensus that donations taken in on Vesak Day would support the education of young boys and girls in Cambodia.

Education was seen as a vital antidote to the trafficking of children in that country. It was recognized by the three advisors that future events would focus on different causes.

Buddhism is a religion based on the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha, who lived and taught in India ca. 2,600 years ago. There are an estimated 550 million people in the world who identify Buddhism as their religion or way of life.

While most live in Asia, Buddhism is recognized as the fastest growing religion in Western societies.

As Buddhism spread from India, it was adapted to many cultures, and consequently Vesākha Day is celebrated in many different ways in various countries, such as China, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Burma, Tibet, Bhutan, Thailand, and Nepal, the birthplace of Siddhartha Gautama.

Some will visit their local temple before dawn, to raise the official Buddhist flag, which represents a rainbow. Some may bring simple offerings of flowers, candles and incense, which serve as a reminder that just as the beautiful flowers will wither, and the candles burn out, so too is life subject to impermanence. In some countries, birds and animals are released in a symbolic act of liberation.

On Vesākha Day, Buddhist practitioners are encouraged to reiterate their determination to lead noble lives, to practice loving-kindness and to bring peace of mind to themselves and peace to the world. This is done by “going for refuge” in the Buddha (the human being, who through right effort, is able to free him/ herself), the Dharma (the teachings the Buddha left for us), and the Sangha (the Buddhist community of monastics and lay practitioners, which has continued, unbroken, for 2,600 years).

In the West, the coming together of various cultures fosters ecumenism, which is one characteristic of the new Buddhism taking root here. Vesākha Day is therefore a time when we reach out across the various Buddhist traditions to celebrate, and to non-Buddhists to enjoy dialogue and harmony.

How the Dementia Caused by Psychiatric Drugs Is Spun Into a Problem of Aging

T

he Ontario Ministry of Transportation introduced discriminatory ‘special’ testing for older drivers in Ontario, under the false pretense that older drivers constitute a significantly higher risk in traffic. Testing is already in effect in Alberta, Kingston and Ottawa.

In November 2012, retired RCMP Officer Ed Rockburne conducted research, obtaining every valid statistic in Canada and a major Australian study that used Canadian statistics. Together with statistics from the Ontario Ministry of Transportation itself, the results revealed that consistently, year-after-year, older drivers have had fewer accidents than any other driving group, and as they age, have fewer still.

A charge under the Ontario Human Rights Act was laid against MOT in Nov 2012. After six months of intense correspondence, the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal dismissed the complaint of discrimination and elder abuse on the grounds that the Ministry and all its Agencies are exempt! The point cannot be missed that despite a violation of human rights having been identified and acknowledged, the very system designed to ensure such violations are corrected has been hogtied.

Rockburne then contacted the Minister of Transportation directly, who admitted that the Ministry did not have the statistical justification to enact the discriminatory legislation against elderly drivers, but proceeded anyway, apparently on preconceived opinions about seniors. This violates the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, The Human Rights Act, The Criminal Code on Elder Abuse and the person’s right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The new test, called the Simard MD Protocol/ DriveABLE has no credibility with Academics and Professional Organizations, who have come out stating that they are surprised that the Government of a democracy would use a test that is not scientific, is unreliable, and sets the seniors up for failure. 20% fail, 20% cannot be determined. This test is paid for by the elderly -- $250.00 each time tested -- and paid to a private firm. Worse, the test has nothing to do with driving skills!

Geriatric psychiatrist, Dr. Mark Rapoport”s study (Toronto’s Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre) found about 40,000 out of the roughly 210,000 people of all ages in Ontario identified as having dementia had active driving licenses. Close to 9,000 of them were involved in crashes. The demented were not only from the senior group: drivers on psychotropic medications— antidepressants, antipsychotics or benzodiazepines to deal with anxiety, agitation or sleep problems —had a collision risk 54% higher than when they were not.

One out of three drivers of all ages with dementia in his survey who crashed were taking psychotropic drugs. This suggests that the problem when seniors do have accidents, which is clearly more infrequently than any other driving group, is likely caused by medications.

Ontario MOT has put this useless, discriminatory, grossly abusive ‘test’ for an obscene fee payable to a PRIVATE company and designed for failure into full use in Kingston and Ottawa, without public discourse.

Anxiety, sleep issues and other normal reactions to life’s bumps and bruises can be more effectively and safely resolved with the help of a competent hypnotherapist who is fully able to help seniors and others on medication address and permanently resolve the originating issues as well as the rebound, withdrawal and side effects of dangerous medications.

Here are the reasons we recommend the Biotron test: • It is consistent. Unlike any other sensitivity or allergy test we know of, the patterns are similar if you test again in one, three or five years. God Himself is the Supreme Musician and each human being is a note in His cosmic Game. God is playing His cosmic Role in mankind through music. Music and God cannot be separated. The one who creates music everywhere and at every moment is God. Music is the language of God. It is not like mathematics or geometry. It is a language of love.

Everybody on earth is a musician and a singer. A singer does not have to carry a note perfectly. If we love music, that is enough. If we love music, we do not need to know the proper techniques and so on. Otherwise, if we do not love something most sincerely, most intensely, then no matter how many years we spend practicing, we will just learn the techniques and after a few years we may forget them.

When somebody is singing or playing music, it is very easy for us to identify with it because we are on the same level. Music is a universal language. We do not need any other language. God has created a universal language, and that is music. Because it is universal, it has to be inside any material object. The universe itself is music. Unfortunately, most of the time we do not hear the music of the universe. We hear only the air conditioner or some outer noises.

But if we can enter into the inner existence of the air conditioner, we will hear music. When we talk, even inside the talking, there is music. In everything, if we can become aware of it, there is music. Everything in God’s creation embodies music. We can hear it only when we dive deep within.

Music keeps us alive. The sweetness and the haunting quality of music teaches us how to behave properly. Our inner music does not allow us to create disharmony. Music gives us the feeling of sweetness,

Find Your Retreat with Reflexology

I

’m sure we can all agree here in Eastern Ontario that this has been a LONG and HARD winter. The effects of such have taken a toll on many of us, including myself. While some of us have taken vacations to sunnier and warmer climates in pursuit of escaping winter, many of us haven’t been so lucky. Retreats are important to our well being and to our overall quality of health and not solely about getting away from the cold climate. Retreats offer us the time to recharge, to restore and to renew.

But what happens when week or even weekend retreats are not possible or accessible? We need to look at alternative solutions to retreats. Daylong spa getaways, Nordic Spa baths are great ways to retreat and so is REFLEXOLOGY!!!

While Reflexology may not seem like a retreat in the conventional sense, it is. Reflexology allows us the opportunity to recharge, restore and to renew, just like a retreat. Plus it’s a great way to pamper ourselves (a retreat). Getting our bodies and minds out of that constant Sympathetic Nervous System state (aka. Flight/Fright) and moving into the more nurturing Parasympathetic Nervous System state (Rest and Repair) is important and critical to long term great health and regular Reflexology treatments offer this.

A Case of Energy Work

“Denise”: 7 years old, gluten allergy, digestive complaints, tantrums, nightmares: I communicated with Denise’s energy by using muscle-testing. It led me through menus and submenus to these healing procedures: - Reconnective Healing (Eric Pearl) This energy is reorganizing and soothing.

- Next, her energy led me to old hidden emotion. It was anxiety in the brain. I removed it by balancing the brain.

- Next, I was led to a N.E.T. procedure where I find 3 things and understand the connection between them. In this case they were: premature birth + small intestines + nightmares = feeling vulnerable.

Denise has felt vulnerable since her premature birth.

At night, it’s hard for her to let down her guard and go into a deep restful sleep. This has affected her in many areas of her life: sensitive bowels/stomach, over-cautious behaviour, choosing younger playmates.

This had happened before. (I often find we are carrying energy from other lifetimes.) Several lifetimes ago Denise was born a boy in Chili, 1845. This boy had terrible stomach pains from a gastro disease, worse at night. He died at age 5.

I removed the old emotion of vulnerability from the small intestines.

- Next I was led to a procedure that removes anxiety.

- Next I did a holographic healing. (I pull a holograph out of an organ or chakra and work on the holograph energetically to fix whatever is wrong with it. It is often symbolic. The body responds.) I pulled a holograph of a boat out of her small intestine. The boat was full of rocks so I removed them.

- As I worked on the holograph of a boat, my treatment room filled up with dark evergreen trees. They crowded all around us. This tree energy told me that Denise felt weak and at risk, as if a great wind could just sweep her away. I worked on grounding her, giving her a more solid and heavy feeling in her lower body.

Session 2- Denise: - Reconnective healing (Eric Pearl) soothing, reorganizing energy - holograph in solar chakra (This chakra is about honouring yourself, your relationship with yourself...) I saw a very large boat with sails on calm blue water. It was on a great journey. Denise was alone on the boat. (I offered to get her a crew but no,) I was guided (always using muscle-testing, I decide nothing on my own) to put her at the wheel.

was super-happy to be driving. I asked if this was about confidence? yes. Being in control? yes. Feeling competent? yes.

- Visitor- Bear (large, brown/black, masculine) had a gift for Denise. It was a little pouch filled with energetic balls that looked like marbles. I was directed to put 3 blue ones in the right eye and 3 brown ones in the left eye from where they would travel to the brain.

- calming procedure for stomach. I heard “nervous stomach” - holograph in the crown chakra- I saw a purple velvet throne with lots of gold. The seat had a stain on it that I removed. What a glorious thing it is!

Denise is reportedly better-focused and hasn’t had a tantrum or nightmare since her energy work. She is learning about bears in the forest.

From the Kitchen to the Cosmetics Counter

T

aking care of your body naturally includes what you put into it, but also what you put on it. The skin (our largest organ) is responsible for absorbing nutrients and well as releasing waste products. It is the first defense against the external world.

So it only makes sense to give it the best possible care. If you are a healthy eater, chances are your kitchen contains wonderful skin care ingredients.

Yogurt is an amazing product: it is alkaline in nature, and applying it to the skin can help with conditions like acne and eczema (do use a plain, organic yogurt without added flavours or sugar). The naturally occurring probiotics in yogurt are a real boon to the skin as well as the gut.

You can use yogurt as a spot treatment for acne by applying a small amount to the affected area and letting it tighten.

Remove gently with warm water. For a complete facial mask, I suggest adding 1 T gluten free ground oats to thicken the blend, half a mashed avocado, 1T honey and 1t apple cider vinegar. Why? Read on!

Honey is a great spot treatment for blemishes.

Honey is drawing and antibacterial in nature, so it is a very gentle way to address acne inflammation. It is a humectant, which means it draws moisture to the skin.

I stay clear of alcohol-based treatments because they can cause the skin to produce more oil by their drying nature, setting up a vicious cycle. Because of its drawing ability, honey is also useful for drawing stingers out of the skin after being stung, or in any case where an infection is setting in due to an alien object in the skin.

What else is in the kitchen? Fruits and vegetables!

Avocados are easily absorbed into most skin types, are smoothing and soothing to the dermis and packed with nutrients like Vitamins A, C and E and beta carotene, an antioxidant..

One of my quick and dirty treatments for smooth, soft skin is avocado, and it goes like this: Step 1: eat avocado Step 2: scrape what is left in skin and massage generously over face.

Step 3: leave for 10-15 minutes and then rinse off with warm water or remove with a facecloth.

Results: smooth, soft skin!

It restores the skin’s acid mantle, which helps protect it from infection. It will remove shampoo residues, tone the scalp, and leave your hair feeling silky soft. It is also fantastic as an after-sunburn remedy. It also helps tighten and firm the skin The antiviral properties of the vinegar suggest that it can be an effective treatment for warts. The recommended treatment is to apply the vinegar on a cotton ball, undiluted, to the affected area and leave it there as long as possible (this would be a good overnight treatment) and continue this protocol for as long as necessary.

To use as an after shampoo rinse, dilute 50/50 in water and gently pour through hair and massage into scalp, taking special care not to get near eyes.

Rinse and comb out. As a facial toner, dilute 1:3 with water and gently clean face with washcloth or spritz onto skin and let dry, avoiding eye area.

Oatmeal has been used for centuries.

This ingredient is soothing, so great for dry, irritated skin and as a gentle exfoliant. You can use a coffee grinder to mill the oats into a finer powder, leaving a little grit. This is an easy shower treatment: take the ground oats with you and make a slurry with the shower water. Apply the oats to your face and gently rub in a circular motion over the entire face. Rinse and pat dry. Oatmeal has a long tradition of being used to ease the itch and soreness of chicken pox or diaper rash.

To use in the bath, add to bath water and soak-making sure to use a cheesecloth or muslin bag to keep the oatmeal from messing up the tub.

There are many other ingredients you can find in the kitchen and use on your body-these are just a few examples. Just remember that although an ingredient is natural, you might still have a reaction to it. For example, gluten allergies may preclude you using oatmeal if there is a chance it has been cross-contaminated.

I like it when life is simple. And the easier things are to do, the more we are inclined to do them.

I believe in a Higher Power, and I have my own version.

Where can I go to celebrate this with people who won’t force their views on me?

I am Christian, and haven’t been to church for years because I hate the dogma and people telling me how to live or practice what they think I should believe.

Since my parents were killed in the accident, I’d really love to know if they are OK and if they have any messages for our family. We miss them so much!

I’ve always been interested in things like mediumship, psychic abilities, healing and life after death, but people don’t discuss let alone practice these, particularly at my office.

I’ve always been drawn to the Ministry, but can’t afford to pay for it. Are there any other options?

I’m new to Ottawa and don’t really like church but I am quite spiritual.

Where can I meet like-minded people?

“I would love to find a female Pastor I can be inspired by and relate to.”

I’m Jewish and my partner is Protestant.

It’s tough. Is there somewhere we might find like-minded people to be non-judgmental and accepting of our choices?

I keep things simple - love is our natural state, and living joyfully and abundantly is our birthright, and I just want to find and be with others who feel the same way.

I really like the idea of experiencing different guest speakers and attending occasional workshops on spiritual topics.

We would like a spiritual ceremony for our wedding, but we don’t relate to either of our churches.

For me, I get my spiritual needs met through meditation and being active in nature.

I’m new to Canada and my spiritual beliefs are a bit different from my neighbors. Where can I go without being judged or criticized?

Are you living your life on Purpose?

I

f you refer back to my February 2014 entry, I talked about the four pillars of a successful retirement as being Finances, Health, Relationships and living on Purpose. The Webster dictionary defines the word purpose as …the object toward which one strives or for which something exists… It also defines the term on purpose as doing something willfully: deliberately.

Successfully transitioning to that “after work” phase of your life requires you to take some time to do some introspection to find out what exactly your new purpose in life will be. You had a purpose for the 30 or 40 years when you were working and now, as you move away from that old reality, you need to re-discover a new one.

Having a purpose in life will get you out of bed in the morning because you are striving towards that goal(s) and you have a desired or intended result. You have something to live for.

I continuously remind my clients of this simple phrase: Retire to Something…not Retire from Something.

What this means is that you need to have a vision for your life, of things that you want to accomplish willfully and with deliberate intent. You need to discover new things to do, new projects to embark on so that you can have some fulfillment in your life. Where do you find meaning? Where do you find awe wonder and delight?

What causes do you support? These are questions that you must ask yourself today in order for you to find your purpose for this next period of your life.

The personal rewards for living a life on purpose are countless. You can see first-hand the amount of joy and happiness that you create for the people benefiting from your activities. It also provides you with a great sense of personal validation by you knowing that the activities that you are engaged in are making a difference in this world. It is such a great thing to witness the impact that one can have on other people’s lives.

Your age is not the determining factor in this case.

the moon has gone around the earth since you were born. As you are contemplating that transition, you need to think about what your next calling will be. It can be a series of smaller, more manageable projects or it can be a very big singular goal. There is no right or wrong way to measure the validity of your purpose. If it means something to you, then chances are that it is what you need to do.

The big question to ask yourself is “Now that I’m retired…Now What?” Some people ask that question a few years before their transition and they are more than prepared to start that new chapter in their lives. Unfortunately, many others find themselves in retirement spending their days simply keeping busy.

I call that Idle Busyness and it only serves to fill the hours of your day. There is no purpose to this other than to make the time go by. Yes, we all need to have days where we can disengage from life by doing a bunch of smaller tasks. It is healthy for us to do that. However, when this starts to become your daily routine, then there is a problem that is emerging.

The simple remedy to this situation is to find your life purpose! But for some that is easier said than done.

Using various modalities and asking good questions, I do help my clients work through this challenge.

There are also many very good life coaches that can successfully help you work through this challenge.

It’s all about asking yourself the right questions which invariably will guide you towards your answers. Your internal guidance system knows the answers already… it always did. You just need to tune into it and it will help you with your decisions.

Live your life with deliberate intent and see what amount of joy you can bring to the people around you, today and in the next phase of your life! Dare to Dream!

YOUNG YOGI

I

am. I am a young yogi. I am a truth seeker. I am a healer . What is it to be a young yogi in these times? More importantly what is it to raise very young yogi’s and instil, from the beginning, the optimistic view that life is ours for the taking?

Firstly, if we consider the definition of a yogi, as one who partakes of yoga (stemming from ‘yolk’ or ‘unity’ in Sanskrit) we eventually become aware that a simple, singular definition is unsatisfactory.

The truth is, being a yogi means many things; all yogis share similarities in their quests while having differences in the way they choose to walk their path.

In the beginning, you signed up, we all signed up, for something that would open our eyes and our hearts to the real truth. In my case, at the age of about 25, I signed up for my first kundalini yoga course after being referred to a spiritual counsellor and yoga teacher. Then I spent five years training with beloved GuruDev, the teacher of wisdom and the ancient, basic and complete form of yoga. But my actual journey in yoga, I can now see, began much, much earlier.

As early as I can remember, in fact, I was continually on a yogic quest for ‘union’. Although I had no words or even points of reference to describe my feelings at the young age of four, I was aware that there was more to life, that there had to be, and I supposed I just had to keep waiting for my higher purpose and that eventually, when the storm finally brewed to a peak, ‘it’ would happen.

After years of rising early to meditate and practice pranayam every morning, after years of pushing my physical body into newer and more challenging postures, after studying light working in various forms, and after struggling on certain days to hold onto that glimmer of hope that my purpose was just around the next corner, I realise it was there inside all along, I just needed some advice on how to access it. And of course, it turns out that the very early lessons I learned from the masters, that we are all of the same energetic foundation,

and that you really can influence the outcome of your life, were the same lessons I now embrace in coming full circle.

The truth is, everybody is right, every spiritual discipline and practice is teaching the same thing in a different way; that we have a palpable say and choice in what our day-to-day reality looks like. Embracing your inner world opens you up to new opportunities, improved health and incredible new perspectives in life.

As a yogi and energy worker I have learned to find out from the inside what is going on with a particular issue on the outside. TAKING ACTION

sn’t it wonderful when life just points you in the right direction and everything seems to flow?

Yesterday I made a decision to get off my duff and make a list of what I feel is important to me and what I would need to do to accomplish each of them.

Within minutes the phone started to ring and I have been receiving emails that keep coming in with answers and confirmation towards the fulfillment of the choices I have on my list.

The Universe truly listens when we take ACTION. I think the process of writing a list on paper was my way of letting the Universe know that I am indeed making a commitment.

The starting point for me was that I noticed that something was out of sync. I knew I was feeling out of sorts, guilty about my lack of energy and being so sedentary during this lonnngg winter. So I forced myself to just stop for a moment and think. It was then that I decided to take inventory of what is and is not important in my live.

By writing a list, and really discerning what means the most to us it can enable us to bring our hopes, desires and dreams into realization.

BodyTalk: Balancing the Sub-Conscious Mind

S

o what is it that drives our behaviours and influences our words on a daily basis? Where is it that 95% of our beliefs, thoughts and feelings are stored? Why do we sometimes feel as though we are robots on autopilot with little choice about the acting out the cyclical behaviours that no longer serve us?

It is the subconscious mind that serves all of these functions. And while it may be helpful in navigating our daily lives, e.g. how to interact in a “civilized manner” in society, other aspects of it may feel less beneficial, e.g. reacting to a detrimental belief system about the world not being safe since a traumatic fall in childhood and 20-40 years later, it still runs life via relationship fears, allergies, physical tension and other symptoms.

These types of belief systems, stored in the subconscious mind, can powerfully undermine our greatest intentions in life. In addition, the scientific experiments of Dr. Bruce Lipton, a well-known Cellular Biologist and Author, have shown that messages from our thoughts and beliefs control the function of our DNA and therefore our physical and mental/emotional health as well.

So how can we move past these long held beliefs, reflex behaviours and related mental or physical symptoms that provide less than the quality of life that we desire?

I use BodyTalk, as it is a phenomenal energy therapy that does just this. I watch client after client move

through deeply held issues, that seem to go “Poof” (one client used this word recently!) and leave them as the filters/belief systems in the subconscious minds lose their charge and come into greater balance. I am in awe of what the subconscious mind reveals during a session and how, when brought to the surface, the detrimental, thought, belief, behaviour, feeling is able to shift. It also brings up memories related to various physical stressors within the body that have been stored in tissues for decades and helps them to move on when they have been adequately brought into awareness.

Healing in the 21st century has become so much simpler than the past (though not every case is simple!) Yet, it seems that the conditions are right to move beyond past limiting and self-sabotaging belief systems that no longer serve where we are headed, both personally and as a collective.

Allergies: Your Body, Asking for Help

e live in the era of the ‘quick fix’. Solutions must come ready-made and deliver now! The cultural norm is one of disconnection from the earth and our bodies, and these subtle environments are often treated with disrespect and outright abuse – though often unintentionally. Even the most attentive can forget that the nourishment we seek lies in reconnecting with the ever-present, all-patient, gentle source found within us and all of nature. I mean, how’s that going to get me where I want to go – now?!

With the onset of spring, we may begin to experience the impending doom of allergies, those pesky, persistent reactions that deplete us of energy and joie de vivre.

Our commonplace allopathic approach is to stuff the symptoms by taking a pharmaceutical anti-histamine, suppressing the body’s natural defense system.
