One of my endearing memories is that of the very friendly, "downto-earth" folk in this part of Canada.

There was no "second shoe to drop" when meeting these hardy people.

The "hype" of large cities and suburban dwellers was almost totally absent. After being with them for only a few minutes, it felt as though I had known them for years.

There was an almost immediate feeling of honesty and trust between us. There was a powerful feeling of community. In one small village on one of the islands, I was invited to a "jigs dinner" together with all the local citizens.

Humility is the antidote to arrogance. It takes great emotional courage to face arrogance with humility. To be authentic, all the time also takes immense courage and fortitude.

I am honored to work with many couples at the depths of human emotional connection, including "disconnection," when they are parting. Staying truly honest with oneself and with one's mate is a very challenging task.

In truly authentic relationships, mutual respect, integrity, honesty, and humility are essential ingredients. It is very important to "lovingly address" conflict issues with one's mate rather than being confrontational with them. When just loving each other doesn't work, the four ways that couples deal with their very deep-seated conflicts are: facing, denying, hiding and running. Facing is, by far, the most successful road to a better relationship. Facing, with humility and authenticity, seems to be THE KEY!

Humility is not the same as humbleness. Humility is "straight out" and maintains an individual on a level playing field with others. Humbleness often involves putting oneself down. Humility is the complete opposite of arrogance. Arrogance is a way of putting others down. Arrogance is one of the most repugnant of human traits.

Trusting Life

I

n an ancient Sanskrit text called the Yoga Sûtras of Patanjali, trust is strongly emphasized. It is described as important and even fundamental. Trust is called Shraddha in Sanskrit, and represents the deepest kind of trust or faith, and it is explained that trust is one of the first steps to take towards our well-being. Trust in life. That no matter what, I will be fine.

It represents a sense that I may not always understand why I am in this situation, but that this situation just may lead to deeper understandings, evolution, and perhaps even humility. Humility is good, it is calming, and rooted in wisdom. If things always go my way, I may feel like my life is in control, that I am rather wise, organized, worthy of well-being, and even quite enlightened. Perhaps this sense of temporary comfort can lead to a certain level of arrogance, something I may not like to admit to myself. Indeed, this illusion of power can make us quite fragile, without us even realizing it.

When our world is challenged, we are faced with ourselves, and we get to see how we react and if we can stay balanced or strong as we thought we were. In fact, challenges are an opportunity to surrender our ego-mind and its own, often limited, ideas. This ancient Sanskrit text says that to remember to trust in life, in our own path and destiny, and in our future, will provide us with energy. It also states clearly, that if we lose trust, we lose energy. Trust is not naïve, trust is healing. Trust adds hope and positivity to our lives.

I see this type of deep spiritual trust as a ground from which

our mind can better cope with life in general. This type of trust isn’t a matter of blind faith; it refers rather to a dropping of our resistances and fears, to be fully present. When we trust, our mind is clear. Trust helps us move on. Trust helps our mind feel clearer and open to possibilities. Think about the amount of time we can spend worrying, questioning our path, our relationships, our life. Can we put this aside, even if momentarily, to trust that we have learned from our past, and so we just may be still learning? I do believe that we will always learn, and this makes life rich and inspiring. In retrospective, at now 62 years old, I can look back and see that I took decisions based on many factors in my life, and surely it may have appeared to some as not always wise choices. One predominant reason for my choices was my belief system, accompanied by impulses I half understood.

Perhaps needs, hope or fears were at times also guiding me, even unknowingly. Impulses coming from deep within lead me to live 15 years in India, studying ancient scriptures passionately, with a definite sense of curiosity; I was thirsty for knowledge and emancipation. During this time there was some good and great moments. But also, some difficult, not so good times. I got to see that there were serious unethical behaviors. For sure, it wasn’t perfect. Yet this path helped me to develop and grow, to change my belief system, and learn. I find that we can help ourselves if we stay trustful, hopeful, and in this way gradually make our way to the highest perspectives and understanding. With some help, patience and perseverance. I have seen it in myself and in my clients

Why not find this inner ground of trust, even in times of uncertainty? The truth is that our past struggles shaped us into the person we are today, so we can be thankful for the hard times as they can make us strong.

Quality of Being by: Ian Prattis

Our journey of healing, of transforming suffering and growing into wholeness does have a surrounding framework – the economic and political structures that we must engage with from the intelligence and clarity of our refined consciousness. But how are we to engage? The quality of our engagement with society and the environment rests on our quality of being. When the quality of being is rooted in the stillness of non-action there is a different ground for all subsequent actions. Deep silence, truly doing nothing inside, allows love, compassion, understanding and wisdom to emanate from the core of being. This touches those around us so events may take a different course. This is the quality of engagement required for our post-modern world. We can be very active in this way and our foundation in non-action brings harmony to those we are with. The most significant interaction is with our true nature.

Life provides constant testing grounds, which invoke negative patterns and habit energies that interfere with our recognition of the constant presence of inner Divinity – our true nature. Everyone has their Achilles heel, be it inappropriate relationships, control, addictive or violent behaviors. Any one or combination of these patterns sets in motion internal blockages that prevent full connection to our true nature. This provides an opportunity to put our mindfulness to work. Moments of slipping out enable a return to conscious breath, recognizing and transcending reactive emotions, doubts, angers and fears. Conscious Breath speaks inwards to our soul and maintains it at its highest level of consciousness. It is a wonderful tool, for as we breathe to live, we can now live to breathe - consciously.

We develop a presence that is uniquely different, a maturity that emanates quietly. Manner of being is no longer about becoming, but being nothing other than who we fully are – the practice of non-practice. Striving to become often shapes our lives to someone else’s agenda, whereas being is already there fully alive, ready for connection and action. Being empowers “remembering” by removing ignorance, and from deep silence bringing inner consciousness to the forefront of thought, speech, and action. Being is not static. Its fullness shatters the vehicle it contains for there is infinite expansion in simply being.

This personal pilgrimage was long and arduous. I frequently ignored the necessity of doing it at all and avoided seeing my lack of responsibility. I know what devastation, injustice and desolation are all about. These energies plagued me for a long time until I owned them, took care of them and transformed them. We all make mistakes and I have made more than my fair share, yet I am now able to recognize them and take responsibility. I take my mindfulness and engage, as best I can, with the world of which I am a part. As my mindfulness deepens through daily practice many veils of illusion fall away leaving only the joy of being and serving in their place.

I

f you could live your ideal life, what would you need to change to make that happen? Is it better health or wealth or both?

There are so many tips I can give when it comes to health. I usually start with a basic health questionnaire that pinpoints trouble areas.

Some simple tweaks to your hydration or diet can make a huge difference in your health.

What can you do to tweak your diet?

1. Minimize processed foods and packaged items, these tend to have higher sodium and additives that cause high blood pressure and other health issues 2. Avoid drive thru’s which can be costly over time and full of unnecessary additives, sugars, sodium, high in calories and low in food nutrient value 3. Aim to consume a minimum of 8 cups of water (not carbonated water or diet pop) 4. Prepack healthy snacks such as vegetables, fruits and nuts, or a healthy protein bar When it comes to wealth creation, do you have a Plan B? Do you have something that makes residual income while you are sleeping? Do you have something that you can rely on if you get hurt or sick and can’t do your current profession? If you don’t have a Plan B, I can help you with that but in the meantime here are some tips I have come to utilize over the years.

1. Avoid debt whenever possible

Cindy found that she was so busy she often didn’t have time to eat. When her friend a nutritionist, Dani, introduced her to a 30 day nutritional cleansing program she thought she would give it a try. The convenience and the high density nutrition in the full meal replacement shakes were tasty and rewarding. Quick, Easy and Effective Ways to De-Stress by: Diane Oliver

As a retired reflexologist, I know first-hand what stress can do to the body and the immune system. Chronic stress can bring chronic pain, which may require something deeper than these ways to de-stress, but you have to start somewhere, right? Here are pro-active suggestions: 1- Laughter – on purpose Without getting scientific, let’s just say that laughing awakens and stimulates all of the feel-good stuff in your body. It breaks the tension. It changes the subject. It pushes the re-set button. Since to laugh is a verb, it means it is an action – one you can decide to “do” on purpose.

Find something that triggers laughter for you – go to YouTube and perhaps start by finding one with a baby laughing. This kind of laugher is often contagious.

Once you start laughing, just “give into it” and continue laughing, on purpose, for a few minutes. Once you stop, see how you feel.

Make a pact that when tension is high, you will change the subject on yourself by cracking a joke – not a stab at someone, but an actual joke. The issue that was so seriously stressful before could, after laughter, be seen in a different light. Healthy laughter versus cynical sarcasm lightens the mood – which is good for the immune system.

3- Walk & Say “Hi!” while respecting social distancing.

Those who have a dog need to walk it. It ends up being an enjoyable activity because dogs are a great way to break the ice to meet new people and are conversation starters. You can ask what breed the dog is and see if the owner is willing to talk.

Go from there for a couple of minutes. This provides a social, face to face contact with appropriate distance and breaks the isolation. Even if you don’t care for dogs, if you need a social outlet, say hello! Most dog owners like to talk about their dogs. It could give you the opportunity to talk about your cat, your bird and even your children, grandchildren or something else. You get to know people in your community that way. Again, this breaks the isolation, even if only for a few minutes.

If you really are not an animal lover, say hello to the person pushing the baby stroller, or simply say hello to a passerby and smile. See where that takes you.

4- Smile!

You cannot frown and smile at the same time – a grimace does not count. Smiling makes others feel good, and it brings lightheartedness. It shows you care. It’s free and easy.

Every little bit helps. It’s all up to you, though. Moving and shifting your energy requires action. Social distancing and “staying home” doesn’t mean we’re not allowed to move and not talk. It means we have to get creative to make sure it happens.

Reflexology and essential oils for gut health

P

roper digestion, absorption, assimilation, and elimination of foods is the key to health. Unless the foods you eat are broken down so the body can absorb and assimilate them into cells, a person will enjoy less than optimal health.

Many digestive problems such as constipation, IBS, heartburn, bloating, can be lessened with Reflexology. There is an entire network of reflex points on the feet that can be linked to the different areas of the digestive system. Reflexology stimulates all the components of the digestive system from the mouth to the other end and “encourages” those parts to wake up and start moving!

It naturally encourages the body to flush out toxins by boosting blood circulation and lymphatic movement.

As a general rule of thumb, this is usually weekly for between four to six weeks, after which it may be reduced to fortnightly or even monthly visits (as a maintenance programme). It very much depends on the clients’ health and how they feel.

IBS sufferers often complain of alternating constipation and diarrhea, and two different Reflexology techniques can be used to balance these out. Firstly, constipation can be improved by using a finger walking technique through the small and large intestines, clearing any blockages in the process and ‘waking up’ the body’s digestion. Secondly, in the case of diarrhea where food is being rushed through the system too quickly, pressing on the middle of the small intestinal area of the feet can be highly effective in giving the body the message that it can relax, thus reducing the urgency of elimination which is so common in IBS cases.

Other reflex points that can assist clients with IBS are the adrenal glands and solar plexus, both of which are involved in the stress response. The stomach reflexes are also worked as are the liver and gall bladder. The gullet reflex runs down the big toes and can be felt to be quite tense in someone with digestive issues.

More and more people are becoming more proactive with respect to taking care of their health and turning towards natural, alternative solutions such as essential oils.

Oils for gut health Peppermint oil capsules or oil have been shown to be effective at naturally helping alleviate the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. Peppermint oil reduces spasms in the colon, relaxes the muscles of your intestines, and can help to reduce bloating and gassiness. Peppermint is one of the best essential oils for nausea and diarrhea too.

Ginger essential oil is one of the top natural remedies for nausea as well as indigestion, diarrhea, stomach aches, vomiting, upset stomach, menstrual disorders and inflammation. The most potent form of ginger is the essential oil because it contains the highest levels of gingerol. It can be taken internally to treat health conditions or rubbed topically with a carrier oil on an area of pain.

Fennel is another excellent essential oil for an upset stomach. It is commonly used for heartburn, intestinal gas, bloating and loss of appetite, which are all digestive symptoms that can accompany nausea. Fennel essential oil can really help to calm digestive diseases when used both internally and externally. It has a licoricelike flavour and an aroma that’s developed from crushing the seeds of the fennel plant and going through a process of steam distillation. Even if you’re not a fan of that licorice taste, don’t write it off too soon. It provides phenomenal digestive support and can help you to find balance in your diet. Fennel is also an antiseptic and can help reduce and possibly eliminate gut spasms, help prevent gas and bloating, have purifying and detoxifying effects, is an expectorant, can help increase the flow of breast milk, and is a natural laxative and even a mouth freshener!

A

s summer is here and fall is upon us, increasing of our activity level leads to back pain for many individuals. As we venture out into our yards to garden for the summer, hike, paddle board and are generally more active many people will over do it and unfortunately experience back pain.

•

Try not to sit at your desk for more than 45 mins straight without a “micro-break”.

•

When wearing shoes, try to wear ones with less than 2” heel.

•

Warm up for 10 minutes whenever possible before activity.

It is known that roughly 60-90% of individuals in Canada will suffer from some sort of back pain at some point in their lives. Back pain accounts for as much as 45% of lost time in the workplace. What is staggering is that of these individuals suffering from back pain, is that if the pain is left untreated or they do not receive any therapy, this pain has a 90% recurrence rate. This is where interventions such as physiotherapy, chiropractic, massage therapy and a good back rehabilitation program can be of benefit to stop this pain from recurring, to help give pain relief, and allow individuals to get back to work and to their life activities.

When might I need therapy?

You may benefit from Physiotherapy, Chiropractic and/or Massage Therapy for your back pain if you have any of the above mentioned symptoms and your back pain is not getting better after 1-2 weeks. At this point in time you may want to consult your doctor and let them know about the pain you are experiencing and see if they recommend that you start your therapeutic process.

There is hope!!!

What can cause low back injuries or pain?

Many things can cause low back injuries or pain and these include: muscle strains or spasm, sprains of ligaments, joint problems or a "slipped disc”. Contrary to popular belief the disc does not slip but rather bulges.

The most common cause of low back pain is using your back muscles in activities or ways that you’re not used to, like lifting heavy furniture, playing basketball, snow shovelling, doing yard work and even can happen bending over to tie up your shoe.

A slipped disc (medically know as a disc bulge) happens when the disc between the bones bulges and presses on nerves. This is often caused by twisting and bending while lifting. This pain can be felt down one or both of the legs and is commonly known as “sciatica”. Back pain can also follow normal activities such as bending over the sink to brush your teeth. This pain may be made worse by stress, long periods of inactivity or being in an unusual position for a long time. If you are experiencing back pain be sure to monitor your symptoms.

Call your doctor or seek medical help (physiotherapist/chiropractor or a massage therapist) if: •

Pain goes down your leg below your knee.

•

Your leg, foot, groin or rectal area feels numb.

•

Your pain was caused by an injury.

•

Your pain is so intense you can’t move around.

•

Your pain doesn’t seem to be getting better after two to three weeks.

After your doctor has given you the green light to start therapy, be sure to contact a reputable therapist to help you get rid of your back pain.

Physiotherapy and Chiropractic care has been shown to be effective in reducing both the discomfort of back pain and the recurrence of this pain.

Massage therapy also has been shown to improve low back pain outcomes as well as help to reduce stress and tension in the area.

The rehabilitation program outlined by the therapist is aimed at reducing the muscle spasms, correcting posture as well as strengthening the weak muscles that are at fault. This integrated approach is paramount to getting individuals back to their wellness and activities that they enjoy.

This is done with a multitude of techniques varying from: exercise therapy, mobilizations,manipulations, acupuncture, Dry Needling, or the Graston Technique.

If you have back pain, or any pain for that matter, do yourself a favour and get the therapy you need so that you can begin your journey to improved wellness and health. Tips for preventing back strain and pain: •

Don’t lift by bending over.

•

Lift an object by bending your hips and knees and then squatting to pick up the object.

•

Keep your back straight and hold the object close to your body.

•

Avoid twisting your body while lifting.

•

Push rather than pull when you must move heavy objects.

•

When starting an exercise program, start slowly with a gradual build up.

evels of obesity have been on the rise for decades now, having trebled over the last 30 years, according to nhs.uk and reports from records collected in 2014, which state that one in two women and three out of five men were overweight or obese.

Introduction to Unity: The Power of Power

I

n Unity, we believe that God (the Divine, the Source, etc.) is within, always present. God has twelve attributes or powers that are also ours by virtue of our oneness with God. This article is about one of those twelve Powers, Power, the one we use to succeed, to move forward and to accomplish. We are grateful to Linda Martella-Whitsett’s book, Divine Audacity, for much of this material.

Unity co-founder Charles Fillmore said that the Power that rules the world is within. He added, “Today men are striving to acquire power through money, legislation, and man-made government, and falling short because they have not mastered themselves.” Instead of using our Power to control our material lives, we should cultivate it “as spiritual power for inner transformation and for blessing others.”

We can express our Power in the following ways: Concentration: is the opposite of the multi-tasking that seems to be so valued in our work and in society (because it promises, but does not deliver, increased achievement).

According to Martella-Whitsett, “multi-tasking leads to ... switching from one focus to another, reducing our attention on anything and diminishing the quality of our focus.

Our concentration ... is the power of single-mindedness ... intensifying thought the way a laser intensifies light.” And where should we focus our laser thoughts? To “our truest Self, our Infinite Self, the source of which is divine – divine honour, divine justice, divine love.”

Self-mastery: is our capacity to guide our thoughts, words and actions in integrity with our Infinite Self, instead of reacting from only human, ego-driven impulses or compulsive behaviours. Unfortunately, many of us either give our power over to other people or we are controlled by our compulsions. We generally, therefore, operate from fixed attitudes or a paradigm dictated by our culture and what our parents taught us. We must, instead, learn to respect ourselves, trust ourselves, and be self-determining.

We must not dim our inner light over rifts, family feuds, and everyday power struggles. Doing so will only lead to our withdrawing from the blessing we are here on earth.

Spiritual authority: is our inner wisdom to be centred in spiritual truth. Partnered with Power, our very presence can change to one of being so “solidly standing in the truth of wholeness that [others] feel empowered to experience [their own] wholeness” (Martella-Whitsett). In matters of ultimate truth, discover that truth within you and express it with spiritual authority.

I

t’s not easy to breathe new life into what’s been dead for thousands of years - to resurrect lifelessness into vibrant creation. But it’s not impossible.

If you know the truth of what’s now unfolding in this reality you’ll see two views.

Dark agenda timelines are not inconvenient or uncomfortable.

They’re diabolical. We must remember that history repeats itself unless we’re willing to wake up and see the manipulation behind the horrors of what’s been. That trajectory is steeped in artificiality, slavery and surveillance, blood sacrifice, and soulless living.

However, you’ll also see such power pulsing through Earth that, unquestionably, the resilience of the Human Spirit will prevail, and unexpected miracles will appear that only God can create. You’ll see that in the face of prayer, fearlessness and faith, evil intentions are like dust carried by the wind: they have no anchor in a unified world that values truth, freedom, sovereignty, transparency and love. You’ll see life restored from the destructive forces, and God’s natural laws flowing freely.

Either version is a possibility. We’re in an energetic wild card, and the battle between life and death.

It’s safe to say though that the darkness is upheld by only a few who are destabilizing and pushing humanity to their breaking point so that we’ll be pleading for their solution: more money and power for them and less freedom for us. If you doubt this please look at the encroaching narrative: social distancing turned into lockdown and then mandatory masks, as falsified data justified a parasitic vaccine race, growing from one to multiple vaccinations per citizen while denying simple, life-saving treatments. To extend control and build vaccine demand, talk then turned to a delay. That suggested mandatory masks for 2-3 years, followed by lies that the virus may never go away. Australians have curfews and police checkpoints, and in New Zealand they’re removing people from their homes. Be very clear, the negative alien agenda has no intention for health or freedom - ever! These escalating measures are markers of compliance to living life on their terms the New World Order. The real virus is the deception, and they’re counting on humanity’s conditioned ignorance and consent.

Pay attention to the truth spilling out through alternative media, as secrets and lies that have been creating unspeakable suffering are illuminated from the shadows. More people are unafraid to call out the hypocrisy and tyranny.

Most importantly, if you doubt your own power, think to a time when you liberated yourself from some suppression. I assure you, you did! You realized that something was no longer tolerable and you chose change. On your own or with help, you did it! Was it easy? Likely not. But despite your fear of what others might have thought of you, or self-doubt, you took one step and then another.

You’ve been changing this way since you were born!

When powerlessness or insecurity takes hold, two questions will guide you: “What’s my fear?” or “What’s my truth?” Then take action with new behaviours. Seek help if you need it, but please take your steps and stand up now because if you don’t find the courage now you will certainly need much more of it later.

The Impact of Chronic Stress by: Chris Peacock

We are now six months into the response to COVID-19. Dr. Vera Etches, Medical Officer of Health, told Ottawa City Council in June that a recent EKOS Research Survey found that 38% of Ottawa residents said their mental health was fair or poor, compared to 9% reporting the same in 2017. As our COVID response continues, it is important to understand that chronic stress has a significant impact on the functioning of the brain, our physical and mental health.

If stress is starting to or has become more chronic, it is very important to attend to it. Effects of chronic stress on the brain When we are stressed, the brain releases a hormone called cortisol. This is helpful in the short term. However, when cortisol levels remain high over long periods of time, this can result in the prefrontal cortex (responsible for memory, attention, decision making), actually shrinking and the amygdala (responsible for emotional responses), getting larger. What that means is that our stress response may increase even more! As Christopher Bergland wrote in Psychology Today, “Neural pathways start to build, and for some people, that can result in being stuck in a stress loop where they are responding to situations that normally wouldn’t cause stress, from a place of fear.”

Effects of chronic stress on physical health When we are stressed, our heart rate increases, and we breathe faster and less deeply. When these symptoms are prolonged, they can lead to an increased risk of heart disease, high blood pressure and stroke. The risk of headaches, gastrointestinal issues, lowered immune system, muscle tension and fatigue

believe they could teach a class? How would my fat, frumpy body endure a full day of learning seated on the floor? What did I get myself into?

For over 10 years I had been suffering from terrible foot pain that was so intense that I could not walk barefoot, ever! At home I wore 1” thick soles to protect my feet from touching the floor directly to avoid the pain. Over time, the pain became much worse so I would limit my walking whenever possible. I felt trapped in a body with limited mobility and could not imagine living another 40 years in this condition. I knew that I had to do something to regain my mobility.

I was blessed with encouragement and respected for my decision to become a Sacred Athlete! I was able to reconnect to my own body's way of movement in a magical way. I found ME and my tribe.

Just a few weeks earlier, I had been invited to a special dance class offered by one of the only 2 Black Belt Trainers in Canada.

I accepted the invitation and quickly asked my GradUit Thrivers partner, Liz M Raymond, to join me to give me an objective opinion. Personally I always had a passion for dancing and knew I would like it. I just hadn’t realize how much so.

Today I step-in to teach my class several times a week with individuals who are empowered by their body's ability to heal itself through the Nia Technique movement practice now via Zoom. Together we arrived at the beautiful sacred space in Kanata, kicked off our shoes and stepped into the class. I stepped in with a much fear. Fear of not being able to follow with my limited mobility and fear of being judged when I couldn’t keep up the pace due to my limited mobility, getting up off the floor due to my limited flexibility and fear of my lack of endurance with my limited strength or stability.

The words I heard next were a huge gift: "Move only your own body's way." Sensing the Joy of Movement was the focus of the class. Sensing JOY was my mantra. Moving only to sense pleasure was a new concept to me. "Tweak if you feel any discomfort" was repeated by the Black Belt instructor. This was not what I had believed exercise to be.

I always heard "No pain, no gain." With the Nia Technique it was quite different. I instantly fell in love and discovered that were no instructors in the East end of Ottawa where I could easily access a class. The GradUit in me inquired how to become an instructor. I knew if it was to be, it was up to me.

Crystals by: Tony Gyenis

Y

ou are energy and how you are feeling is in direct relation to what you vibrate to. Your body is a connected state of energy influenced by factors within and around your energy field. Days when you feel empowered, well connected, and grounded, your energy field is vibrating at an optimal level. Days when you are feeling unsure, unwell, or not connected, your energy field may not be vibrating at its peak. There is a way to aid your energy field to raise its vibration and has been around for thousands of years; Crystals.

Crystal use dates back at least 6,000 years, to the era of ancient civilizations - the Romans, Egyptians, Greeks, and Japanese, to name a few. Crystals have long since been believed to have metaphysical properties to enhance psychic abilities and are considered to bethe building blocks of life, as they are made from two of the most common elements in the Earth, silicon and oxygen. As silicon conducts electricity very well, crystals are widely used (quartz crystal specifically) in things like transistors, radios, telephones, and many advanced electronic systems, such as microchips.

If quartz crystal is one of the most stable crystalline structures in existence that can enhance the development in the tech industry and we as humans are made of energy, it is a natural extension that energy beings can benefit from crystals and the energy they emit.

When one’s energy is not at its optimal state, it means it is pulsating at a lower vibration. As vibration will mimic what is around it, exposing one’s energy to a higher vibration will cause one’s energy to rise. How energy rises and to what speed is a direct function to what energy is around it. Using this principal is the explanation to why crystals are an effective way to raise our vibration.

When one holds a crystal in their hand the vibration from that crystal transmits directly into the person’s energy field. That transmission of energy causes immediate sensations within the body. The human body knows exactly how to raise the vibration resulting from holding that crystal and the brain waves will immediately begin to respond. This suggests that we can alter our energy state by holding a crystal in our hand and we can alter how our brain thinks as brain waves are being influenced by the vibrational energy within the crystal.

As an example, if one feels they are lacking motivation to engage in a task, by merely holding a crystal that stimulates brain waves to increase high enough to spur the body to move, will result in the task being done. In other words, the brain must be open to having its brain waves elevated and one needs to match the proper crystal that has the energy within to achieve this. Finding the crystal with such properties is as simple as a Google search (Tiger’s Eye is one such crystal). Having the mind accept that it should accept the vibration from the crystal is the journey of spiritual awareness –the mind can accept or reject this step.

How to wrestle the mind to submission to the soul is the ancient question. We leave that to another time where we discuss the art of Tuning Forks. Here we merely wish to explain that Mother Earth has given us great tools to work with to enhance and stimulate our energy waves. We hope you give it a try but remember, it is not the crystal that does the work on its own, the mind must allow it.

Is Your Life Like A Star Wars Movie? by: Heather Elliott

W

hen Star Wars came out, I never failed to see the new ones. I loved it! It was about space, about new frontiers, cool characters, and galaxy chases. But as time wore on and we saw more of them, I began to grow tired of them for no apparent reason. Upon examination I realized I was bored! Each movie revisited the exact same theme of the previous movie. It was predictable!

There is a Luke Skywalker character, a Dark Lord character, a Princess Leah character and a droid with an important message. There is a ‘death star’ equivalent that needs to be destroyed.

Sure, each movie is filled with impressive special effects that, when seen in 3-D on a large screen, provide hours of thrilling entertainment. But it’s the same story retold with new characters in each role and some of the old ones thrown in for good measure.

There’s nothing wrong with repeating a story as long as it works for you.

But what if it doesn’t work?

Sometimes our lives are like a new Star Wars movie. Different people come in to fill a role, but the central story is the same.

When it works for us, that’s awesome. When it doesn’t, we feel like it becomes the…

Same Shit, Different Day (SSDD)!

Is there a ‘central story’ that keeps repeating in your life?

If you’re enjoying a similar success to a new Star Wars movie, your story might be a good story to keep retelling.

But if you feel more like it’s the SSDD, it’s time to find your central story and change it or completely stop creating and recreating it.

• Feeling like a victim – thinking your life is out of your control • Poor me – nothing good ever happens and you expect it never to change • Lack – living small because you don’t believe there is enough and you don’t deserve more • Drama – life is a big drama and you are caught in the middle of it • People are not trustworthy - so you have to do it all yourself and end up alone • Fear, worry, anxiety – you’re immobilized by them and can’t move forward in life • Powerlessness, helplessness – life happens to you and there’s nothing you can do about it Stories operate in the subconscious of your life. Without realizing it, they become the silent framework upon which the rest of your life hinges. The more you live out your story, the more real it becomes to you and the more you let it define you.

You live your central stories without ever realizing you are doing it.

How can you get off the SSDD rollercoaster?

Acknowledge that your story is creating your world, and realize that it’s time to do something about it!

The first step is to look closely at your life and find your central story or stories. You probably have at least a few of them in your life. A different one about money, work, health, relationships, etc.

The next step is to do something about them.

Community, Change and Choice by: Liz M Raymond

C

hange always happens. Like it or not, change is constant.

Like the seasons change, so do the seasons of our lives. They can represent new beginnings and celebrations, like when flowers bloom in the spring or when the leaves change from green to a beautiful display of yellow, orange and red in the fall! The seasons of life can come in the form of a graduation, wedding or even the birth of a new baby.

My first positive step forward was making that decision!

Then I needed to figure out what was next. With the help of a friend I said YES to a weekend workshop that presented me with questions, strategies and a path to begin my journey of positive change. Committing to participate in the additional training and implementing the strategies every day have proven to be life changing in all areas of my life.

Then we have the seasons that bring darkness and dreary weather that make us want to hibernate and retreat from the elements. Events like relationship changes, children growing up and moving away and death can show up as these darker seasons in our lives. The confusion, stress and challenges of these darker seasons can set us on a spiral to a place that can be a struggle to come back from.

Change isn’t always easy, but it is doable. Reaching out, taking steps that allow you to cross that bridge of hope to a life of beautiful seasons, is an act of courage that can bring experiences beyond your expectations. One of the dark seasons in my life that set me on my spiral to a feeling of hopelessness came in the form of a relationship breakup, followed by bankruptcy and a landlord that made it clear I wasn’t welcome without my partner.

Then one day I was driving down the highway with no destination in mind, as the tears were streaming down my face and I watched the mile markers fly by, a switch flipped. At that moment I decided I was done crying over the “guy” and was ready to create a different life. I was ready to change “it”.
