IF YOU HAD A CHANCE TO HAVE BREAKFAST WITH HAIRDRESSING LEGEND BRUNO MASCOLO, WHAT WOULD YOU ASK HIM?
With more than fifty years in the industry and two extremely successful businesses under his belt (TIGI and TONI&GUY), Bruno has upgraded the hairdressing industry worldwide. His well-known accolades include being inducted into both the British Hairdressing Hall of Fame in 2001 and the prestigious North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) Hall of Leaders in 2005. Although typically painted as a businessman, Bruno’s creative work has found a forever home in pop culture as well. His looks include his iconic “chunky” cut, popularly known as the Farrah Fawcett, that he created in the early 70s and a look recently spotted on Lady Gaga, proving that his “hair bow” style that he originated in 1981 is indeed timeless. With so many successes, Bruno has done countless interviews. But we aren’t here to repeat history. Instead we wanted to shine the light on the unknown and show the man behind the impressive resume. Our questions were unconventional and garnered more intimate responses in the comfort of Bruno’s West Hollywood home. We hope you enjoy this inside scope on the man, the myth, the legend – Bruno Mascolo.

Austin Finley is the TONI&GUY Regional Creative Director and a Senior Art Team Member. Austin attended the TONI&GUY Academy in Dallas, TX and has been with the company for over 10 years. As a student, Austin found his passion for education and now teaches advanced courses nationally for TONI&GUY. His work is featured in both the TONI&GUY Reflective Collection and the TONI&GUY Freedom Collection. His work has also been highlighted in numerous trade publications including Behind The Chair, Beauty Launchpad, and Modern Salon. In addition to being an artistic leader for TONI&GUY, Austin works behind the chair at TONI&GUY Hillcrest Salon in Dallas, TX.

The group calls itself and the music they provide, electronic soul. It’s not hard to see their appeal: Airtight and carefully virtuosic, they’re perfectly wrapped up in their own hermetically sealed pop world. WHY WE LIKE THEM: The attraction largely boils down to singer Coco O’s elastic voice, sometimes chirpy and sometimes soulful.
