WHERE BOUNDARIES ARE PUSHED AND THE CLASSICS ARE RE-IMAGINED. GENIUS IS DRIVEN BY RISK AND RISK REWARDS THE BOLD. Celebrating 50 years of hair, fashion & culture, Zak Mascolo and the TONI&GUY artistic team shift the perspective with three distinct looks complete with cut, colour, make-up and wardrobe to create a fashion-forward collection. Each technique works in tandem with anti-directional movement, asymmetry, block layering, and graduation to compliment the finished look. This collection was designed for the hairdresser’s creative side, providing salon viability.
THE ELEMENTS OF
strength & anti-direction
MAKE THIS COLLECTION FOR THE HAIRDRESSER WHILE MAINTAINING SALON VIABILITY. - ZAK MASCOLO, CREATIVE DIRECTOR USA
CUT HORIZONTAL GRADUATION IS UTILIZED TO BUILD WEIGHT THROUGHOUT THE PERIMETER WHILE THE INTERNAL LAYERING PATTERN IS INDEPENDENTLY DISCONNECTED IN ORDER TO CREATE AN ANTI-DIRECTIONAL FEEL. COLOUR ASYMMETRIC DIMENSIONAL COLOUR IS ACHIEVED WITH OFFSET ZIG ZAG SECTIONS AND UNDER COLOUR PLACEMENT CREATING A BEAUTIFUL SPIN ON DIMENSIONAL COLOUR.
CUT SHORT VERTICAL GRADUATION IN THE OCCIPITAL REGION ESTABLISHES A CONTOURED SILHOUETTE WHILE THE HORIZONTAL LAYERING PATTERN BUILDS WIDTH THROUGHOUT THE SHAPE. A STRONG, HIGHLY TEXTURED FRINGE IS CREATED BY ALTERNATING THE ANGLE OF THE BLADE WHILE ESTABLISHING A SQUARE LINE. COLOUR INTERIOR PLACEMENT ADDS MOVEMENT TO THE SHAPE BY UTILIZING ZIG ZAG PARTINGS THROUGH THE INTERIOR, ALTERNATING COLOURS AND PATTERNS. BLOCK COLOURING THE FRINGE AND UNDERNEATH ADDS DEPTH TO THE OVERALL LOOK.
CUT DISCONNECTED INTERNAL LAYERING ESTABLISHED JUST BEHIND THE EARS CREATES A LIGHT AND AIRY TEXTURE THROUGH THE SIDES, MOVING FLUIDLY OVER THE DISCONNECTED FRONT HAIR LINE. A STRONG SQUARE FRINGE IS ESTABLISHED UTILIZING A SHALLOW POINT CUT FOR A SOFT TEXTURE. COLOUR UNDER COLOUR AND HIGHLIGHT PLACEMENT IS ACHIEVED IN THIS TECHNIQUE WITH CURVED DIAGONAL BACKS INTO AN ALMOND SHAPE; CREATING MAXIMUM DEPTH THROUGH THE UNDERNEATH WHILE GRADUALLY GETTING LIGHTER.

This year, TONI&GUY was the official hair sponsor of Phoenix Fashion Week sending teams to over 27 shows, as well as academy students beautifying Fashion Week guests at the Style Villa with a Braid Boutique. At Los Angeles Fashion Week, our teams were again behind the scenes with our last show featuring designers such as Puey Quinines, Karina Copado, Maya Hansen and Flemings Couture; and at New York Fashion Week, our stylists from TONI&GUY Maxwell Place presented models with the beautiful designs of Gregory Parkison’s new line. From latex gowns and provocative swimwear, to everyday menswear and women’s designs, our TONI&GUY team has seen and done it all. L.A. BRUNO “Growing by a yard is hard, but growing by an inch is a synch” Simply put, this quote means we all need to have a vision of our plan and goals for our future – there should be a goal of where you want to be in your personal life, where you want to be in your spiritual life, and so on. The most important thing, however, is once you realize what you want, you then have to work backwards to the now and create a plan to accomplish it. For example, if you want to be an educator, you must be good at executing your hairstyles and haircuts, and really good at communicating how to create those looks while teaching them. This means you have to learn how to speak in public because you’ll be speaking in front of several crowds. Now that you understand your goal, you can create the steps it will take to get there. This quote is really important to keep in mind because it identifies in inches what you have to do, making it a synch to be able to get to where or what you want. If you do it in huge milestones of yards it becomes much more difficult because it doesn’t give you the clarity of all the things you have to do to accomplish that yard. For this reason, when you’re working toward your plan and goals, take one little thing at a time, then move to the next one and the next one. As you accomplish each inch of your goals you will become stronger and more confident so the next inch will be easier and the next inch becomes even easier.
8 Contour with TIGI Allure Powder Foundation and highlight with TIGI Vanilla Eyeshadow.
the look by applying TIGI Diamonds & Pearls 9 Finish Luxe Lipgloss to the center of the lips, blending out for a precious pout!
