H

appy New Year!

Hello again! I hope you all enjoyed your Winter Break and are ready for the new semester! Sadly, this marks the last four months of the term, but let’s work hard to continue serving the community and create wonderful memories together. Elections are coming up very soon! Be aware of upcoming dates that you are required and suggested to attend. Positions available include: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Bulletin Editor. Appointed positions will depend on the new board and what they choose to have. Please make sure to not tell others what you are running for, as it is considered campaigning and you can be disqualified! Also, please let Justina know if you are interested in running for a position. Enjoy the rest of your break. See you soon! Happy reading,

Tracy Ly Page 3

Best Decision - Henry Duong

Featured

Joining Key Club has been the best decision I have ever made in my life. What I like about Key Club is not that I just get to help out my community and get my service hours, but the fact that I get to do it with my friends every week. Even though I’ve been in Key Club for almost two years now, I didn’t do much when I was a freshman. But this year, I decided I wanted to become a more dedicated member mostly because of the fact that not many people were volunteering at the service events. Even though waking up early and getting out of bed every weekend is one of my BIGGEST struggles. Hanging out with everyone in Key Club while helping the community is something I never want to miss. In my opinion, the freshmen this year made Key Club way more enjoyable and fun than my freshman year, their overwhelming energy and positive vibe around them is what motivates me to better myself and to get out of my comfort zone every day. Honestly, thanks to all my friends and everyone I met in Key Club, this year has been a year I will never forget. Despite only starting to be more of an active member this year, it has even come to a point now where I can’t imagine myself not being a part of Key Club.

Key Cub Through the Hectic Days - Justina Voong

As a senior in Key Club and also serving my home club as President, there has been a lot on my plate in the past weeks. In between homework, club work, college applications, scholarships, and so much more, I found myself missing out on Key Club. Work, tasks, and responsibilities filled my mind. I had so much to get done in a short amount of time and no time to do anything. Community service was pushed to the back of my mind. It wasn’t until I attended my first service event in about three weeks did I feel like some weight was lifted off my shoulders. Despite knowing what else I needed to get done, being able to serve alongside other members made me extremely happy. I forgot about my worries and enjoyed my time serving at the California International Marathon. Key Club and serving is something, I feel, eases my mind, some fun in between the tasks I have. Key Club helps me get through the days of constant work and sleepless nights. It is one of the constants in my life I have been able to rely on for the past four years and will continue to for the rest of my high school career. Key Club is the rainbow after it pours on a gloomy day. Despite the busy days I have, being able to attend a service event or lead a weekly meeting frees my mind and allows me to be me.

Leading our way into the future - Stephanie Ilaga

Leadership Training Conference was a great event to attend. There were workshops about different executive positions that allowed us to learn about the specific roles and duties within the club and division, and even a quick caucus session. The breakout sessions allowed members get to know each other more through an ice breaker and to come up with different ideas on how to resolve a problem from a given scenario efficiently. The main lesson I learned was to make sure to have good communication skills, especially after the maze game that involved being able to listen, communicate, and cooperate well with one another in order to finish. Seeing so many people interested in different positions made me happy to know many people are passionate about Key Club and look forward to taking a leadership position. Leadership Training Conference was a great and I’m glad I was able to learn more from it. Page 12
