BoyleSports has named former Gold Cup-winning jockey Bryan Cooper as its latest horse racing ambassador, just ahead of the Cheltenham Festival.
Best known for his 2016 Cheltenham Gold Cup victory aboard Don Cossack, Cooper will now provide exclusive expert insights, previews, and analysis for BoyleSports customers. He joins trainer John ‘Shark’ Hanlon and former jockey Robbie ‘Puppy’ Power to form a high-profile racing trio for the bookmaker.
Cooper recently shared his expertise at BoyleSports’ Cheltenham Festival preview night in Limerick, helping raise funds for Irish Injured Jockeys. Expressing his excitement, he said, “I’m delighted to join BoyleSports
and share my insights with racing fans. With another thrilling Cheltenham ahead, I look forward to being part of the team.”
The Kerryman has high hopes for Gold Cup favorite Galopin Des Champs, predicting a third consecutive victory for Willie Mullins’ star. “Even a below-par run should be enough to win. The way he pulls away from top-class horses after the last fence is exceptional,” Cooper said.
BoyleSports’ Sharon McHugh welcomed Cooper’s addition, stating, “His impressive career and deep racing knowledge make him a fantastic addition to our team. Alongside Robbie and Shark, Bryan will elevate our racing coverage.” Cooper’s appointment reinforces

Kerry FC continued their 2025 season with a 0-0 draw against Cobh Ramblers at St. Colman’s Park. After last week’s opening-day win over Finn Harps, Kerry entered the game in high spirits, despite missing Joe Adams due to suspension. Cobh, considered promotion contenders, created the better chances early on. Barry Coffey and Cian Murphy tested Kerry goalkeeper Tim-Oliver Hiemer, who pulled off crucial saves. Kerry had a strong penalty appeal denied when Carl Mujaguzi was brought down, much to the frustration of the visitors.
In the second half, Hiemer continued to stand strong, denying Murphy again. Kerry’s Daniel Okwute and Cian Brosnan forced saves from Cobh keeper Timothy Martin. Cobh had a late goal ruled out for handball, and despite pressing for a winner, they couldn’t break Kerry’s solid defense. Kerry FC secured their second clean sheet in two games, proving their resilience. They now turn their focus to their next match, a historic first-ever clash against Dundalk FC at Mounthawk Park. photo by Adam Kowalczyk @ pix360_adam

The Network Ireland Kerry February event was hosted in the Brehon Hotel, Killarney, where the focus on the evening was “The Power of Influence - Transforming Marketing Ideas into Action”.
Network Ireland Kerry President Emily Reen opened the event and welcomed the National President of Network Ireland, Amy O’Sullivan, who was in attendance. Amy invited all those attending to be part of the first-ever All-Island International Women’s Day celebration on the 8th of March to celebrate International Women’s Day. The event will be hosted in Croke Park and will feature trailblazing speakers such as Dr. Norah Patten. This event is an opportunity for all those attending to connect with leaders and innovators and leave them motivated to break barriers in their journey.
The other exciting Kerry-focused news Amy shared was that Network Ireland’s National Conference and Businesswoman of the Year Awards are coming to the Kingdom in 2025, and will be hosted in the Great Southern Hotel, Killarney on the 25th and 26th of September. The keynote speakers at the February event were Brigeen O’Sullivan and Eimear Mc Donnell from Match Marketing and Anita
Michalak from the Digital Talk. The trio shared their industry expertise as to the value of Influencer Marketing and how it can positively impact your business, whether you are focussed on business-to-consumer or business-to-business, there is a campaign you can build that will yield results. In addition, in exploring the power of influence, the audience was reminded of the value each of them carries in influencing each other’s business or career, by sharing content from other members and broadening the reach of influence.
As the evening was the day before Valentine’s, there was a fun element of an “Influencer Bingo” game in the evening, with lots of Galantines and Valentine-themed prizes for the lucky winners!
The event was a great success and most importantly it started many conversations amongst members about how they can share their business message and how they can influence others to share their content.
Closing the evening Emily Reen, outlined the exciting calendar of events coming up for Network Ireland Kerry. On Saturday, March 1st, Network Ireland Kerry and Tralee Chamber Alliance are coming together to celebrate International
Women’s Day with a Sponsored Charity Walk on Saturday, from 10:15 AM - 1:00 PM. Participants will meet at The Rose Monument in Tralee Town Park before setting off on a guided journey along the Tralee Heritage Trail, exploring the heart of the town while supporting two incredible local charities – the Kerry Rape Crisis Centre and the Kerry Hospice Foundation.
This carefully designed route offers participants a unique perspective on Tralee’s history and culture while fostering a sense of community among attendees. it will be led by
Lynch, former archivist with Kerry County Library, who was part of the committee that developed the Heritage Trail for Tralee in 2022. This event offers a wonderful opportunity to connect with the community, enjoy Tralee’s rich heritage, and support vital local services. The walk will conclude at McCaffrey’s Bar, where participants can relax and enjoy refreshments. To register for this event visit Eventbrite https://bit.ly/43b5lvQ
Minister for Children, Disability and Equality and Kerry T.D Norma Foley has confirmed that a key respite centre in the county will reopen next month.
The Cois na Féile respite centre in Kilmorna was closed in February last year when Kerry Parents’ and Friends’ Association (KPFA) transferred the centre to the HSE due to staffing issues.
Minister Foley said that she had received confirmation from the HSE that the respite centre would reopen next month.
“I know the provision of respite is a vital resource for families and the absence of this service in the Cois
na Féile respite centre in Kilmorna over the past year has been a source of both disappointment and distress for everyone. I am pleased to confirm that a contract for restoration of respite will commence by the end of March. I have worked closely with HSE on this issue and I want to acknowledge their support in resolving the matter.”
The HSE is commissioning a new service provider to deliver the respite services that had previously been provided in Cois na Féile Respite Service.
The HSE procurement service is now notifying the service provider of the successful outcome of the tendering process. The HSE has
confirmed to the minister it is confident that the restoration of respite will commence by the end of March.

wins from seven with a 74-66 victory over Merry Monk Ballina at the Ballina Sports Complex. This win secures top spot in Conference 1 and guarantees home advantage in the upcoming playoff quarter-final.
The Warriors started strong, with James Fernane’s three-pointer setting the tone. Steve and Dan Bowler added to the lead, but Ballina’s Ronan McGarrity kept his side in contention, cutting the gap to 22-17 at quarter time.
A second-quarter surge, led by the Fleming and Bowler brothers, pushed the Warriors 15 points ahead, but McGarrity again rallied Ballina to reduce the lead. Zygi Kaletka’s three major scores and Dan Bowler’s inside play helped maintain a 42-29 halftime lead. The third quarter saw Ballina chip away, with Theo Daly’s eight-point streak cutting the deficit to 56-48. Ballina closed to within one point (62-61) in the final quarter, but clutch threes from Aaron Fleming and Fernane sealed a 74-66 win.
