Cara Credit Union welcomes funding applications for community projects 22 community groups and charitable organisations have already benefited from Cara Credit Union’s Lauri Healy Community Sponsorship Awards. Speaking to Sean Roche, the Chairperson of Cara Credit Union’s Community Sponsorship Committee “Cara Credit Union is very conscious of our ethos. One way of rewarding the trust and loyalty we receive from our members is by supporting projects that can help build better communities, and add value throughout our common bond in Tralee, Castleisland and Killorglin. Our Lauri Healy Community Sponsorship Awards helps us achieve this objective with the distribution of funds used to encourage and complement the fantastic work that community groups do to make all our lives and communities a better place to live and work. The Sponsorship Award pledged €120,000 over

a four-year period from 20172020. All 22 benefactors are worthy projects and we wish them every success as their projects near completion. We are now accepting our final round of applications and would encourage community groups who are undertaking community projects of €10,000 or more to enter. Previous unsuccessful applications are also eligible to apply.” Speaking to Pa Laide CEO of Cara Credit Union “Lauri Healy was one of Tralee Credit Union’s founding directors who dedicated so much time and energy to Tralee Credit Union. Lauri was also active in his support and development of other credit unions in Kerry and further afield. He was a director with Tralee Credit Union for more than 30 years, he served with Chapter 23 for as many years and as a board member of the Irish League of Credit Unions helped shape

the movement in its early days. The Lauri Healy Community Sponsorship Awards is a fitting tribute to Lauri how gave so much to his local community.” Your group could be next to benefit. Cara Credit Union are now accepting applications. Closing date is 31st of March

2020. Application forms are available online on their website and from any of their offices. For further information visit their website www. caracreditunion.ie<http://www. caracreditunion.ie

Retail Excellence assure Continuity of Supply for all Grocery Outlets This afternoon Retail Excellence spoke with all of the major grocery multiples and forecourt operators in Ireland. We would like to reassure everyone that Ireland is prepared to continue to supply all grocery outlets for the coming months. There is no reason for Irish citizens to have any concern in that regard. The industry has never been more prepared having planned for a hard Brexit over the past number of months. Minister Heather Humphreys, Minister of Business and Enterprise,

has done a tremendous job in monitoring this matter and please be assured that we have more than adequate contingencies in place. Social media images of empty shelves are simply sensationalizing the matter. These shelves are restocked every evening and restocking will continue into the future. We echo An Taoiseach’s comments when this morning he confirmed that the shops will remain open and we have plans to ensure supply chains will not be interrupted.

“St Patricks Parade would have been 40% bigger” Roll on 2021! Tralee Chamber alliance expressed their disappointment last Tuesday on the country wide cancellation of all St Patricks Day Parades due to COVID-19 precautions .Ken Tobin said “Losing the St Patrick’s Day festivities is a hammer blow to our restaurants, shops, hotels and bars. We are asking the local community to try to support them as best as you can in the challenging times ahead. The ‘Let’s get Green’ themed spectacle showcasing Kerry County Council’s Arts project ‘St. Patrick and the Curlew’ will now go into storage for twelve months for next years parade.

Before Monday’s cut off for applications, Tralee St. Patrick’s Day Festival parade already had seen a 40% increase in participants with over 57 groups already confirmed to participate. Numerous local businesses and organisations had committed their time and support in the planning for this year’s Patrick’s Day parade. The Festival committee want to thank all those who had been working so hard over the last number of weeks to showcase the town and its groups, clubs, organisations and businesses. The town’s pre and post parade events have also been cancelled due to public safety.

However, tentative plans are already being put in place for signature events and activities that will take place across the

coming weeks and months once the current concerns have abated...We look forward to 2021 “

Ballygarry House Hotel, Tralee’s first to sign up to Flogas carbon offsetting initiative Two well-known Kerry hotels, the Ballygarry House Hotel and Spa in Tralee and the Castlerosse Park Resort in Killarney, are the first Flogas customers to sign up to the company’s recently launched carbon offsetting initiative. The two luxury hotels will now compensate for over 700 tonnes in LPG-related carbon emissions in 2020 by investing in climate protection projects via Flogas and its collaboration with South Pole, a gold standard provider of carbon offsetting projects worldwide. Carbon emission reductions are certified through globally recognised standards and audited by independent third parties. Padraig McGillicuddy, proprietor of Ballygarry House Hotel and Spa, said, “This is a superb initiative and makes us all more accountable for our carbon footprint. We are delighted to lead the way

on this and encourage other hotels and industry to do similar and reduce our impact and improve sustainability on our precious planet.” For a minimal fee, Flogas will purchase carbon credits on behalf of participating commercial customers like Ballygarry House and Castlerosse Park, investing in sustainable global projects that either reduce or capture an equivalent amount of carbon emissions.John Rooney, managing director, Flogas Ireland said, “ We’re delighted to welcome Ballygarry House and Castlerosse Park as our very first customers for the carbon offsetting initiative. We would also urge other business customers to take a proactive approach towards tackling climate change and differentiate themselves from the competition. Participating customers will be able to display marketing materials

and certificates demonstrating their carbon offsets and it’s an excellent opportunity for savvy business owners keen to get ahead of the curve.”Examples of the supported projects include forest protection, providing access to clean and

efficient LPG cookstoves, supporting renewable energy projects and wastewater treatment and biogas utilisation projects. www.flogas.ie/carbon

KBN mark International Womens Day with a March in March! Last Sunday, (March 8th), 60+ women, men, some courageous kids, and some delighted dogs, braved the elements and came together to walk 5km in Killarney National Park. The event was organised by the Kerry Businesswomen’s Network, in celebration of International Women’s day, and in support of Kerry Rape & Sexual Abuse Centre, and the Kerry Women’s Refuge & Support Centre. The 5km March for Change highlighted the importance of these two essential support services, raising a total of €800 to further assist them in continuing their outstanding work. Vera O’Leary of Kerry Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Centre said, “Thanks to all who braved

the elements and turned up this morning to walk 5km. ...We definitely saw the four seasons during the walk but we kept going as women do!... we are so grateful to all who donated. Thanks to Elin and her team for organising the event.” The Network hopes to add more outdoor events to their calendar, “We might be serious about business, but we know that there are plenty less obvious ways of inspiring, building bonds, and crossing bridges, benefits that feed right back into your life and into your business or work.” said Elin Sorensen, Chairperson. KBN is holding another of their unique After Hours Networking Nights in Madden’s Tralee on Tuesday,

Steak... Pizzaiola Style!

In Italy, the briefly cooked fresh tomato sauce called pizzaiola is traditionally served atop steakOriginally .Pizzaiola was invented to tenderize tougher and less expensive cuts of beef. The meat is seared and then braised until tender. It is easy to make and is perfect for a weeknight. But it works wonderfully with any of your steak preferences! During the 70s and 80s, many Italian-inspired regional dishes became popular in America and Steak Pizzaiola was one of them.

In a large frying pan, heat the remaining 2 tablespoons oil over moderate heat. Season the steak with the remaining 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Cook the steak for 2 minutes. Turn and cook until done to your taste, about 3 minutes longer for medium rare. Remove the steak and let rest in a warm spot for 5 minutes. Beauty

HELLO BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE I hope you’re having an amazing week.

I hope you enjoyed my favourites last week, and maybe some of you checked out my video on YouTube. This week I’m going to be talking about products I have been using on my skin that have improved my blackheads, pore size and overall skin texture. I myself have combination, sensitive acne prone skin, and these products have worked amazingly for me.

DERMALOGICA DAILY MICROFOLIANT This stuff is honestly magic. It has helped my skin so so much, I use it everyday in the mornings or evenings and since I have started using it I have seen a huge difference in my skin. It removes dulling surface debris and evens skin tone. Reveals brighter, smoother skin, and is gentle enough for daily use.

GOOD MOLECULES NIACINAMIDE SERUM A new brand that is so affordable, ethically sourced and cruelty free. The Good Molecules Niacinamide serum has helped with blackheads and pores., niacinamide is clinically proven to improve the look of enlarged pores, uneven skin tone and texture, and dullness. Niacinamide also helps to strengthen the skin’s barrier function and reduce moisture loss for a healthy, hydrated complexion. The lightweight, water-based formula layers seamlessly under skincare and makeup, making it ideal for daily use GOOD MOLECULES DISCOLORATION CORRECTING SERUM Another serum from Good Molecules because I just can’t get enough. Target skin discoloration and promote a clear skin tone with tranexamic acid, a brightening powerhouse derived from the amino acid lysine. Improve the appearance of uneven skin tone and texture, dullness, and enlarged pores with niacinamide.

SAND AND SKY FLASH PERFECTION EXFOLIATOR This is my once a week exfoliating treatment. I put it on and leave it for 5 minutes before washing it off, you can massage it into your skin for 30 secs if your skin is less sensitive. It absorbs excess oil and resurfaces the skin. It’s rich in AHA’s and is full of antioxidant rich oils such as rosehip, grapeseed and olive. It also has none of the nasties, no sulfates, silicones, parabens or plthalates.

SAND AND SKY AUSTRALIAN PINK CLAY MASK I used this facemask for years and hadn;t used it in about 9 months before i reintroduced it in January. The secret ingredient, Australian pink clay, is the real star of the show here – it draws out impurities, toxins and pollutants from the skin unlike anything else, refining pores and deeply cleansing as it goes. To invigorate skin and brighten further, organic liquorice and old man’s weed help to regenerate skin cells and stimulate cell production, gently removing pigmentation clusters from the skin’s surface. To continue this refining action, organic pomegranate and aloe vera tighten pores and soothe, stimulating collagen production for long-term firming. Brilliantly brightening, the pink clay is also complemented by kakadu plum and organic mangosteen to guard against free radical damage and create a defensive shield to deflect harmful pollutants. Impaired by absolutely nothing and suitable even for sensitive skin types – no nasties nor animal testing here! – this luscious, naturally powered clay mask instantly boosts radiance, leaving you with a clearer complexion and an unbelievable, youthful glow.

If you enjoyed reading about these products, there are videos on my YouTube channel so be sure to check that out. All the links to everything I mentioned are there also. I recently set up an email list for weekly beauty emails so if you want to be on that, email me at bexblahbeauty@gmail.com Friday 13h March 2020

FITNESS!

Get your business noticed in Tralee’s favourite Friday read

Hello everyone!

Hope you’re having a great week. This week I want to talk about focusing on YOURSELF. When it comes to being fit, working out and going to the gym everyone is doing something different, everyone has a different idea of what fitness means to them and what their goals are. What you should do is focus on YOU, what YOUR goals are and what YOU want.

Arena, a gym that always has the best energy.

Don’t focus on anyone else’s food plan, workout plan or whatever. Just focus on what you know you should be doing for yourself. If you don’t know what that is… seek the help of a professional to see what you need to be doing. Be it a personal trainer, online coach, whatever. Just be sure they’re reputable and know what they’re doing.

Not A Diet Book - James Smith What I know for sure - Oprah Winfrey Atomic Habits - James Clear The Chimp Paradox - Prof Steve Peters

Also, a great thing to do for yourself is to read. Reading develops the mind and gives you new things to think about. News concepts, new ideas, you are always learning when you read I like non fiction books, some of the books I have on my list at the moment are…

At the end of the day, the only person who has to live in your head, is you. So by focusing on what you want for yourself and your goals you will ensure that you’re always happy with your choices. Don’t feel pressured to do the latest diet craze or kill yourself running in the gym. I think it’s really important to workout because you want to and because it makes you feel good! I’m so happy to be in a consistent routine - I go to the gym 5 or 6 days a week because working out almost everyday is something that I do for myself. I’m lucky to be a member of The Tralee

Bank of Irelands Breakfast Club celebrates International Women’s Day! Bank of Ireland in Castle Street celebrated International Women’s Day at its Friday Breakfast Club in Workbench Tralee with an amazing panel and a huge audience full of the most inspirational people.Run in conjunction with CEED It Tralee, those who attended this special edition of Friday Breakfast Club heard wonderful stories, shared memories and received nuggets of wisdom from the panel and from the panel’s role models. “Be true to yourself”, Be there for your family”, “Start with a Yes” and “Be Kind” were just a few of the many quotes to get us thinking. They also heard how each of these leaders have risen to their positions and how resilience in tough times is vital.

Brilliant MC Breda O’Dwyer led the discussion with Patricia Sheahan (Palliative Care Consultant and Kerry Person of the Year), Fiona Stack (General Manager Radio Kerry), Caroline McEnery (MD, The HR Suite), Laura Collins (Kerry Camogie and Collin’s Equestrian Centre), Emily Brick (Founder of Athena Analytics) and Aine McCleary (Head of Distribution, (Bank of Ireland). Heather O’Sullivan, John Ross Jewellers supplied a beautiful gift for the audience and Maura’s Cottage Flowers supplied lapels for the panel. All who attended enjoyed a fantastic celebration of brilliant leadership. Friday Breakfast Club continues on the first Friday of

each month in Bank of Ireland and is open to everyone to attend. For details contact pat.carmody@boi.com or

Tyre Depot invest in keeping you safe on the road

Since opening a little over a year ago , the Tyre Depot in Boyles Business Park, Clash ( next to Kellihers Mills ) has gone from strength to strength., and has built up quite a strong customer base . Its in no small way due to the foresight and hard work of owner Aidan O Connor and his team . “We currently stock over 500 tyres and thats all the top brands , Pirelli , Hankook , Continental etc as well as the top budget brands such as Davanti , Ling Lang etc ...so we have something for all budgets and all types of vehicles “ says Aidan . Another unique feature of Tyre Depot is the fact that they are open late 5 nights a week , Mon to Fri til 9pm ...This is of great service to a

Friday 13h March 2020

lot of our customers who may need to keep their vehicles on the road by day and can come in after 5, 6, 7pm and get their tyres sorted or someone who doesn’t want to send time on their day off , can call in any evening instead “ Aidan added Kerrys newest 4 Wheel 3D Wheel Alignment system by John Bean immediately when he opened and his customers are seeing the benefits with their vehicles . And recently he has made another significant capital investment in the latest tyre technology , namely the latest John Bean tyre changer which can accomodate all types of tyres including low profiles and runflats and will safeguard against any damage to the (expensive ) alloy wheels

most cars have nowadays . Also the latest John Bean Computerised wheel balancer with Pinpoint laser . “This gives a ‘truer balance says Aidan and also means the unsightly wheel weights are now hidden from plain sight ! We have also invested in the latest technology that allows us to repair or replace systems for cars that have faulty Tyre Pressure Monitors .It allows us to ensure our customers cars pass the NCT and keeps them away from costly Main Dealer bills “ says Aidan ...So it keeps our customers happy , very happy ! Watch out for Tyre Depots adverts every week in the Tralee Advertiser .

LAUGHTER ....THE BEST MEDICINE ! A COP PULLED A CAR OVER FOR SPEEDING

When the Cop asked the driver why he was traveling 95mph, the driver answered that he was a juggler on his way to do a show for a birthday party and didn’t want to be late. The Cop told the driver he was fascinated by juggling, and if the driver would do a little juggling for him that he wouldn’t give him a ticket. The driver told the Cop that he had sent all of his equipment on ahead and didn’t have anything to juggle. The Cop told him that he had some flares in the trunk of his patrol car, and asked if he could juggle them. The juggler stated that he could, so the Cop got three flares, lit them and handed them to the juggler. While the man was doing his juggling act, a car pulled in behind the patrol car. A drunk got out, watched the performance briefly, went over to the patrol car, opened the rear door and got in. The Cop observed him doing this, and went over to the patrol car, opened the door and asked the drunk what he thought he was doing. The drunk replied, “You might as well haul my butt to jail, cause there’s NO way I’ll pass that test.”

A PILOT IS MAKING AN ANNOUNCEMENT TO HIS PASSENGERS

We got some good news, and some bad news. The good news is you guys will be on TV tonight!”

DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE CROSS-EYED TEACHER WHO LOST HER JOB?

FIFTY DOLLARS

Morris and his wife Esther went to the state fair every year, and every year Morris would say, “Esther, I’d like to ride in that helicopter”. Esther always replied, “I know Morris, but that helicopter ride is 50 dollars -- and 50 dollars is 50 dollars”. One year Esther and Morris went to the fair, and Morris said, “Esther, I’m 85 years old. If I don’t ride that helicopter, I might never get another chance.” Esther replied, “Morris that helicopter is 50 dollars -- and 50 dollars is 50 dollars”. The pilot overheard the couple and said, “Folks I’ll make you a deal. I’ll take the both of you for a ride. If you can stay quiet for the entire ride and not say a word I won’t charge you! But if you say one word, it’s 50 dollars.” Morris and Esther agreed and up they went. The pilot did all kinds of fancy maneuvers, but not a word was heard. He did his daredevil tricks over and over again, but still not a word. When they landed, the pilot turned to Morris and said, “By golly, I did everything I could to get you to yell out, but you didn’t. I’m impressed!” Morris replied, “Well, to tell you the truth, I almost said something when Esther fell out, but you know -- 50 dollars is 50 dollars.”

WE’RE GOING TO THE ZOO !

A gorilla dies of old age at a zoo right before the zoo opens. It is the only gorilla at the zoo since they are not very profitable. However, the gorilla is their most popular attraction by far, and they cannot afford to go a day without it. So the zoo owner asks one of his workers to wear a gorilla suit they have in storage for an extra $100 a day if he will go in the gorilla cage and pretend to be the gorilla until the zoo can afford a new one. Quickly, the new “gorilla” becomes the most popular craze at the zoo. People from all over are coming to see the “Human-like” gorilla.

coffee morning

About a month in, the craze has started to wear off. So, to get peoples’ attention back, he decides to climb over his enclosure and hang from the net ceiling above the lions den next to him. A large crowd of people gather watching the spectacle in awe and terror. Suddenly the man loses his grip and falls to the floor of the lion’s den. The man starts screaming “HELP!! HELP!!!” Suddenly a lion pounces him from behind and whispers in his ear, “Shut the heck up right now or you’re going to get us both fired.”

SHORTCUTS WITH EDDIE (MOTORING INDO )

A new cyclist-injury report finds there is an urgent need for action on speed limits and infrastructure.Regardless of who is at fault, the laws of physics dictate that when a cyclist and a car collide, the cyclist always comes out worse. As the primary reason for cyclist injury is due to collisions with vehicles the report says the obvious solution is to remove the potential for conflict by providing more dedicated and better cycling infrastructure. An average of 10 cyclists have died on our roads for each of the past 13 years. But the report finds the mortality rate represents only the tip of the iceberg’The wider consequence is the number injured in crashes. The RSA study examined the number of cyclist injuries from 2006 to 2018 - with a focus on 2016.It looked at the main causes of cyclist injuries and found numbers increased from 211 in 2006 to 1,056 in 2018. The increase is due to two factors:The growth in cycling’s popularity. In the 10 years between to 2016, census figures indicate there was a 52pc increase in the number cycling to work, school or college;* New reporting mechanisms, introduced in 2014, helped collect more detailed data. The research finds cycling injuries mostly happened as a result of collisions with cars and goods vehicles (more than 90pc) - and more often during morning and evening commuting periods. The results show most (87pc) were injured in collisions on urban roads with a speed limit lower than 60kmh. More than four-in-five were injured on two-way single carriageways. In excess of half the cyclists were injured at junctions; nearly a quarter at T-junctions. One-in-five were injured when cars were turning right while the opposite was true with goods vehicles: one-in-five cyclists was injured while the van was turning left.Critically it was found the most common driver action prior to a collision was “failure to observe” (40pc).Ireland is lagging behind many European counterparts in introducing dedicated cycle tracks.”We need separate infrastructure for vehicles and bicycles that remove danger points from our roads and reduce conflict between road users,” the RSA says. * Well done to Peugeot on their new 208 being voted European Car of the Year for 2020.It garnered 281 points, ahead of the Tesla Model 3 (242 points), Porsche Taycan (222), Renault Clio (211), Ford Puma (209), Toyota Corolla (152) and BMW 1 Series (133).* Congratulations to Bandon dealership Finbarr Galvin Ltd which has been chosen as SEAT Ireland’s dealer of the year 2019.This is the third time to win the accolade (previously in 2015 and 2016).Consistently a top-performing retailer it employs 16 staff in the SEAT side of the business and 32 in total.

NEW 2021 MERCEDES-AMG C53 TO DITCH SIX-CYLINDER POWER

The upcoming Mercedes-AMG C53 4Matic has been spied undergoing cold-weather testing for the first time, less than a year before it’s planned to head into UK showrooms alongside standard versions of the new, fifth-generation C-Class. Set to directly rival the Audi S4 and BMW M340i xDrive, the four-wheel-drive C53 will replace the existing C43 4Matic. It forms part of an extensive new C-Class line-up from AMG alongside successor models to today’s C63 and C63 S – each to be offered in saloon, estate, coupé and cabriolet body styles. Despite its extensive disguise, the C53 prototype pictured here is clearly differentiated from standard versions of the new C-Class we’ve already caught testing by a series of typical AMG styling elements, including a ‘Panamericana’ grille with vertical louvres, a deeper front bumper assembly with new vertical ducting and so-called flics within the outer edges, wider sills and a bespoke rear bumper housing four round tailpipes. It also sports large brake discs and what appear to be six-pot front brake calipers – a telltale sign that this is no ordinary C-ClassAs first reported by Autocar last year, AMG has settled on a four-cylinder strategy for its new C-Class models. The C53 is planned to eschew the turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine of the existing C43 for a further developed version of the turbocharged 2.0-litre fourcylinder petrol engine already used by the A35 and its more powerful A45 sibling. Nothing is official just yet, although indications are it will be tuned to develop in the vicinity of 380bhp, giving the new C53 and subtle 13bhp increase in power over the outgoing C43.Along with the new engine, the new AMG model is set to adopt a nine-speed automatic gearbox and heavily updated four-wheel drive system offering a greater apportioning of drive front to rear. EVERYTHING’S COMING UP ROSES!

Get your business noticed in Tralee’s favourite Friday read SPORT WITH THE TRALEE ADVERTISER PREMIUM ADVERTISING 42TALKING a Kerry team can do anything once it gets to Croke Park!!

with “The Voice” Pat Harnett

FAI NATIONAl P.R.O. OF THE YEAR COVID 19 – WILL THE WHISTLE BE BLOWN ON SPORT? At this stage everyone should be aware of the precautions that we can all take to try and slow the progression of the Covid 19 virus. All sporting bodies have issued guidelines regarding procedures including stopping shaking hands and the non- sharing of water bottles. At the moment there are no plans for a blanket call off of all sport. But as we all know some games with big crowds are being played behind closed doors, including it looks like our Euro play-off. I don’t know if the GAA are planning to play any of the remaining League games or the final without supporters but I presume they are also working hard on contingency plans. Like all the bodies they will be taking their lead from the health experts. But after the St Patricks Day Parade was called off and the number of virus cases here continues to increase people seem resigned to major restrictions coming down the tracks. Hopefully we can continue to live life and enjoy all sports. And follow the advice of the experts. Maybe we will get a hot summer and this will speed up the demise of virus. CAN GARVEY’S TRALEE WARRIORS WIN ON AND OFF THE COURT:

Once again the Men’s SuperLeague end of the season is like something from a sports movie. Last season we had the Warriors beating UCD Marian twice in two days to win their first title. And now two sides are still in contention going into the last game. But the drama on the court is only part of the story. If you asked Pat Price at the start of the season would he take being three points ahead with a game to play and he would have snapped it up. Warriors as expected easily beat bottom side Abbey Seals Dublin Lions to move onto 17 wins from their 21 games and on 51 points. Their challengers Belfast Star are on 48 from 21 played. Friday 13h March 2020

But with 0.1 of a second to go in the last game between Neptune and Star it looked like that lead would have been 6 points. However Conor Quinn let fly from the half way line on the buzzer (or slightly after if you believe some!) and his massive three saw them win 79-77. And to add to the intrigue the Warriors last game is away to Neptune. However that’s the story as I write this column. At the same time in Dublin the appeal against the Warriors successfully arguing at the BI hearing that the signing of Andre Berry was legitimate is going ahead. And with 6 points on the line – the Warriors won 2 from 3 in the period where it is being argued that he was ineligible. The Tralee side are adamant that they were given permission to play Berry and were given a licence number for him plus they have proof they tried to play the e22 fee. But having been cleared by the National Appeals Committee the Men’s National Competitions Committee has taken the decision to Sports Dispute Solutions Ireland. I have to say it’s the first time I heard of one part of a sporting body appealing the decision of another part of the same body! The case was heard on Tuesday afternoon but no decision was made at the time of going to print. SPORT NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE AS KERRY QUALIFY FOR HURLING FINAL: Kerry’s hurling League ambitions looked to have ended with bad look on and off the field. Firstly the Antrim Offaly game fell to the weather and was re-fixed after the final round of games. In that final round Kerry were hit by a mumps outbreak and were depleted. But Antrim we deserved winners in Tralee. Offaly then knew what they needed to do and it looked be all set up for back to clash clashes between the sides when the Faithful county led by 6 points in injury time. However credit to Antrim – who might feel they have a better chance against Kerry in the final – fought to the end and hit two late goals to carve out a 2-14 to 0-20 point draw. Kerry will be delighted to have gotten a chance to avenge the defeat to Antrim and it got even better when it was announced, after a call by Brendan Cummins, that the game would be played in Croke Park next Sunday. Kerry might not be favourites going into the game but we all know that

KERRY LOSE OUT TO WEXFORD IN CAMOGIE DIVISION 2: Kerry took on a strong Wexford side, who had played in Division 1 last season and are looking to straight back up, in Tralee in the Littlewoods Ireland National Camogie League Division 2. Kerry played with the wind but the visitors made the better start and thanks to two early goals were 2-7 to 1-3 up at the break. Julianne O’Keeffe got the Kerry goal. Two early points against the increased wind saw Kerry close the gap but a third goal for Wexford, who were down to 14 players, wrapped up the win for them despite a battling Kerry performance. KERINS O’RAHILLYS JUVENILE NEWS: Over 100 young players lined out for the Academies on Sunday in the Kerry Sports Academy. They will do it all again this Sunday in the same venue. The club is very grateful to all the volunteers who help out with the Academy. The u12’s got their season underway with a game against St Pats and Daniel McCarthy had the honour of scoring the first goal of the season. The second half was a cracker with the boys hitting 4 goals including 2 from Nick Lacey, Daniel McCarthy added his second and Jude Lacey the other goal as they took the lead. But the St Pats side re-grouped and hit a purple patch to put the game out of reach. The u14’s enjoyed a very comprehensive win over the Stacks with a goal from Ryan Houlihan helping them on their way. Jamie McCarthy hit another goal and Tomas Kennedy had a big game scoring 2-04 in a 5-15 to 0-05 win. The u16’s preparation for the new season is well underway. All members are asked to make sure their membership is played. The u12 Girls are away to Annascaul in Round 1 of the Town League, the u14’s will play Dr Crokes in Round 1 of the Non County Player County League set for March 31st. THE u16’s enjoyed their Gaelic4teens training and will be away to Castlegregory in the County League Round 1. The Minor County League begins on March 20th with Currow at home in the first game while the Senior ladies will play the same club in round 2 of their League on March 16th. The Ladies are hosting a table quiz on April 11th in Charlie’s Bar as part of their fundraising for their April 26th trip to the Gaelic4teens Festival in Abbotstown. Tickets are also on sale for a signed Kerry jersey. Bag packing will take place in Dunnes Stores on March 14th and all help will be appreciated. Seniors – In the Credit Union County League Kilcummin won in Tralee 1-07 to 0-08. They played with the wind in the first half and had a great penalty shout turned down. At half time they led 0-05 to 0-02 but it wasn’t enough. The sides were level at 7 point each when the penalty incident occurred and then Kilcummin got the vital

goal with the ball having come off the post. In Division 5 of the County League Austin Stacks defeated the B team 0-08 to 1-03. ST PAT’S NEWS: There was no winner of the Lotto from the numbers drawn 1,6,15 and 30 and the next jackpot will be e2900 with the draw on Sunday night in O’Dwyer’s Bar. Members are asked to ensure that if they haven’t done so to play their membership as soon as possible.
