LEGAL MATTERS CORNER MIRIAM MC GILLICUDDY ANSWERS YOUR LEGAL QUERIES

David wants to get a good physiotherapist to help him out with a work related injury he is also suffering from some post accident trauma and is wondering about a reputable counsellor to talk to. Health and Social Care professionals are now being regulated under an organisation called CORU. CORU is from the Irish Word Coir meaning fair, just and proper. CORU is the umbrella body that regulates health and social care professionals. There are a huge variety of such professionals, and each has their own registration board under Coru. Even though the act providing for CORU, and the regulation of such professionals was enacted in 2005 it has been a careful, slow road to registration of all the professional types. Those currently with active registers includes Dietitians, Dispensing Opticians, Medical Scientists, Occupational Therapists, Optometrists, Physical Therapists, Physiotherapists, Podiatrists, Radiographers, Radiation Therapists, Social Workers and Speech and Language Therapists. Those whose registration has yet to open are Clinical Biochemists Counsellors Orthoptists Psychologists Psychotherapists Social Care Workers. For the list with live registers CORU has established ethical and behaviour codes for those professionals as well as recognition of their qualifications and providing education standards. David therefore can look up any physiotherapist that he is proposing to use to make sue that they are registered with CORU as this provides a certain amount of security for him that he is dealing with a professional who will abide by high standards in the area. Moreover CORU will be ensuring that all these professionals engage in continuing professional development and lifelong learning. The website to look up to check a relevant professional is bona fide and registered is www.CORU. ie. Registration for counsellors/psychotherapists is on the way. Covid has delayed much of the earlier work in these areas. In relation to all these professionals if a member of the public, their fellow employees and managers has a complaint against someone it will be examined by a preliminary committee and if there are sufficient concerns that will necessitate the issues being brought to a professional committee which might recommend a sanction depending on the seriousness of the complaint. This fitness to practice procedure will ensure that persons unsuitable for the profession will be weeded out. There have only been a few of these cases to date involving e.g., convictions for theft and fraud offences, not being competent in the job etc. In this way the Board can show that it is performing a useful function in that it is chasing after professionals who fall below the expected standard while attesting to the fact that all the others in the profession are adhering to high standards This act is a great extension to allow meaningful regulation of the health and social care sector Lawquip: Life is like a 10-speed bicycle. Most of us have gears we never use.” If you have a legal query or need further information on any item addressed in this column please send in your query to miriam.mcgillycuddy@gmail.com Miriam McGillycuddy, Solicitor, Derryana, Ballyard, Tralee, County Kerry. MTU leads million euro Low Carbon Roadmap project! A new collaborative project , INFORMBIO, aimed at developing a low carbon roadmap for Ireland’s bioeconomy, will be led by Munster Technological University (MTU) with Teagasc, NUI Galway and the Central Statistics Office of Ireland. According to Project Coordinator James Gaffey, Co-director of the Circular Bioeconomy Research Group at Shannon ABC in MTU INFORMBIO, for the first time, attempts to quantify and model the potential of a circular bioeconomy to contribute to Ireland’s climate and sustainability targets. and is aimed at understanding the available bioresources and value chains which can best contribute to Ireland’s 2050 climate neutrality target.”INFORMBIO, funded through the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine’s Competitive Research Call, will develop a first Foresight Analysis for Ireland’s bioeconomy,

Friday 8th April 2022

David Styles, NUI Galway, will lead on life cycle assessment of priority bio-based value chains co-developed with expert stakeholders. The INFORMBIO project will also position Ireland as a front-runner among EU member states, by developing a prototype national bioeconomy monitoring system, enabling Ireland to track the development and progress of the bioeconomy against key bioeconomy indicators. Réamonn Fealy, working with Teagasc colleagues Maeve Henchion and Jesko Zimmermann in AFBSA, will lead on the design of a prototype monitoring system to benchmark Ireland’s bioeconomy. According to Carmen Girón Domínguez, INFORMBIO Project Manager and Researcher at MTU “the research developed through INFORMBIO will support preparations for a bioeconomy observatory for Ireland, providing

a roadmap for Ireland towards implementation of a sustainable bioeconomy, along with the tools to rigorously measure progress towards this objective”. The project is funded through the Dept. of Agriculture, Food, and the Marine’s Competitive Research Call, with a budget of €996,429.91 and will run

for 4 years, from 1st of March 2022 to 28th of February 2026.

Keep your Business in Tralee and keep Tralee in Business!

Important for students to strike that balance! THE TEAM AT THE CLINIC ARE HERE TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS ON COSMETIC AND HAIR RESTORATION ISSUES. This is the perfect time to get your skin Summer ready and at CHRC, we recommend our medical grade peels to correct, enhance and rejuvenate your skin. So what is a peel? Its an advanced type of exfoliation (www.vogue.co.uk/article/how-much-exfoliation-is-too-much) instead of using a physical scrub to remove skin cells, a peel uses a chemical liquid (either acid or enzyme) to remove the dead cells. Before you visualise Samantha in Sex and the City after her disastrous facial, I can set the set the record straight about the treatment, and reassure you that that a chemical peel (when performed by an experienced practitioner) is a wonderful thing! Peels help to lift away the dead skin cells that sit upon the skin, an excess of which can cause dullness, congestion and an uneven complexion. Having a skin peel can help stimulate healthier skin, keep blemishes at bay and address pigmentation concerns, and some even reduce fine lines and help tighten.

It is that time of the year again when students have to get serious about their preparations for the Leaving and Junior Certificate Exams. Easter is a time where students have to strike that balance between recharging the batteries and getting that vital revision done. At Brookfield there is a long history of providing quality help to pupils preparing for exams. “Students feel they get a huge amount of revision done in a short space of time. Expert experienced teachers revise the main areas of the course and provide notes and solutions etc.” according to Elisha Dowling. Brookfield Tuition will have courses running over the next two weeks. To contact Brookfield Tuition phone 085-2648363 or email brookfieldtuition@gmail.com.

At CHRC, each of our peels are tailored mix to suit you, combining a mix of active ingredients, customised to meet your specific skin concerns. To find out if a peel would benefit your skin, we will complete a full skin analysis and discuss your skin concerns with you. Our revolutionary skin peels actively work to give you smoother and firmer looking skin with little or no down time and visible results. We recommend “Glow” peel to rejuvenate your skin, minimise the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation issues like age spots, discolouration and uneven skin tone. It can be done on the face, neck, or hands to reduce fine lines under the eyes and around the mouth. Also great to treat wrinkles caused by sun damage. Have you ever wondered how gorgeous Laura Whitmore gets that amazing glow for Love Island? Well, the Irish presenter swears by Alumier Glow peels and Glow peel bookings soared after the Irish beauty told all about her beauty secret. “Glow” is suitable for dry, normal, oily, dehydrated, acne, ageing and hyperpigmentation skin. The multipurpose solution is effective in minimising the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation issues like age spots and uneven skin tone. Dead cells are exfoliated and new cells are stimulated to leave your skin glow like never before. If you have a big occasion coming up, the time to have your “Glow” is four weeks beforehand. The end result…radiant, soft and luminous skin. To find out more about our range of peels and which one if right for you, contact us at CHRC for a one to one consultation to get your glow on!

Litter Bugs – Clean Up Your Act! By Georgie Downes

Does the sight of rubbish in hedgerows bother you? Do you disapprove when you see someone littering on the streets or despair when folks leave a mess behind after a day on the beach? If the answer is yes, then you might well have been one of the thousands of volunteers (as were we) who gave up their time last Saturday to make our environment a better, cleaner and more beautiful place and we salute you. If the answer is no, then where’s your sense of civic pride? The wonderfully communityminded folks of Kerry gathered together, threw on some high-vis vests, donned their hygiene gloves and got stuck in, clearing drinks bottles (the most common litter item), plastic bits and pieces, and even household rubbish from streets, roadsides, villages, towns and beaches filling

hundreds of bags rubbish of across the county making this tenth annual County Clean-Up an unmitigated success. You can see the results along the roads. No rubbish! This was the first time in three years that the annual cleanup was able to take place at full capacity and almost 5,000 volunteers registered with KWD Recycling to participate. Kerry County Council Cathaoirleach Jimmy Moloney was delighted with the turn out. “It was really uplifting to see so many litters pickers in towns and rural areas in every part of the county,” he said as he thanked all those who took part. “Particularly the Tidy Towns committees and community groups who coordinated the work in their areas,” he added. Noel O’Reilly of KWD Recycling echoed the appreciation for all

of the volunteers. “The County Clean Up is now a well-established community event and gives a focus to the environment and waste in Kerry. We would ask everyone

to bear with us while we gather up all of the bags of litter for disposal. Well done to everyone who took part.”

The Power of Social Media Strategy with Create Social Media

Create Social Media has been very active in the world of Social Media and has a lot of knowledge to share on how you can use a Social Media Strategy for your business or personal brand. Rebecca, CEO of Create has worked with Influencers, YouTubers, Tiktokers & Businesses, most of which are very well known including Love Island stars Yewande Biala(729k) and Laura Anderson(1.4m), Irish Influencers Kiki Nugent(254k), Sinead Hegarty(205k) and Siobhán O’Hagan(158k) and Global YouTuber Kelly Stamps(660k) as well as Lead Riverdancer Amy Mae Dolan(28.6k) and more… Through working on with these Rebecca has a huge insight on not only how the Social Media Stars of 2022 work, but how to approach the different platforms Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. “There is a huge shift in Social Media happening right now, what worked pre

10

Friday 8th April 2022

2020 is fading and fading fast - businesses, brands and personal brands need to be ahead and the best way to achieve that is to hire an expert!”

Rebecca knows Social Media, and how different strategies work for different people. “Showing up on Social Media without a clear strategy, or having more sales as your only one, is like sitting in a car not knowing how to drive! It will not harness the amazing power of Social Media. What I am seeing right now is a lot of people putting in effort with no reward, and that is to the fault of their lack of understanding the platforms they are posting on, and not posting on the most powerful one, TikTok”. Seams About Right! The Zip Yard Sew Up Sustainability Accolade At Irish Franchise Association Awards Alterations Franchise Wins ‘Franchise of the Year Sustainability’ The Zip Yard, the alterations franchise with 23 stores across the Republic of Ireland, has scooped the coveted ‘Franchise of the Year Sustainability’ award at the Irish Franchise Association (IFA) Awards. Ireland’s only clothing alterations and garment restyling franchise are no strangers to the IFA Awards, having previously acquired the overall Franchise of the Year title. The ‘Franchise of the Year - Sustainabilty’ award, sponsored by INNOVU Insurance Company, was one of three for which The Zip Yard were shortlisted for this year. “We are proud and delighted to receive this award as sustainability and sustainable fashion is what our business is all about,” commented Caroline Wallace, The Zip Yard’s Managing Director. “Consumers are more and more uneasy about the

environmental - and financial - costs of fast fashion. Altering garments - whether it’s a much-loved Winter coat or your favourite pair of jeans - is an easy way to save money and help save the planet. For example, extending the life of your clothes by 9 months, can reduce their carbon, water, and landfill footprint by up to 30 per cent.” The company itself has also implemented several initiatives to make daily operations more sustainable. The use of paper receipts (made from recycled paper) has reduced by 80 per cent, while The Zip Yard carrier bags are produced from 100 per cent recycled materials. The awards ceremony took place on Friday 25th March at the Radisson Hotel, Golden Lane, Dublin after a two-year absence due to public health guidelines, so it was fitting that a new Covid Response Award was introduced for the first time. Wallace agrees that the pandemic has had a huge impact on the franchising world.

“The disruptive nature and uncertainty around Covid-19 was a huge challenge for franchises,” said Wallace. “As we emerge into a postpandemic world, certain changes in society will continue to cause an impact - for example, city-centre businesses will need to adapt as work-from-home continues to be the norm for a certain section of their customer base. However, the tenacity shown by Irish franchises over the past two years will prevail.”

in the Republic of Ireland, The Zip Yard has grown to 23 stores nationwide with plans for several innovative kiosk locations in the next few years. Wallace, a passionate advocate of women in franchising, is currently the only female Board member of the Irish Franchise Association. She has her sights firmly set on improving the landscape for women in franchising during her appointment.

Easter Week Pageant In St Johns

Good Friday Pageant on The Passion of Christ will again be staged in the Church of St John the Baptist, Castle St, Tralee, after a three-year enforced COVID break. Almost 40 people, aged from 10 years to over 70, will participate in this year’s performance and the church choir, under the direction of Mike O’Shea, will be a vital part of the ceremony. The pageant cast will include 10 secondary school pupils as well as some 3rd level students and it will be part of the traditional Good Friday Ceremony that will commence at 3pm on 15th April (Aoine an Chéasta). The Pageant began over 20 years ago under the direction of Fr Pat Ahern who still keeps an eye on proceedings. It was a ‘follow-up’ from the very successful and highly acclaimed Green Glens (Millstreet) Millenium Pageant that celebrated 2,000 years of Christianity. Kerry Premiere of Matilda the Musical Jr. in Siamsa this week! The children are rising up. Join the revolt in this Broadway Junior Licenced adaptation of the Olivier Award-winning hit! Makes its Kerry Premier in Siamsa Tíre this week. Rebellion is nigh and the Children of Kerry are rising up in Matilda JR., a gleefully witty ode to the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination! This story of a girl who dreams of a better life and the children she inspires will have audiences rooting for the “revolting children” who are out to teach the grown-ups a lesson. During the Christmas break over three months ago Bryan Carr Stage School held auditions for its core cast and went on a search to find some Matilda’s who would be strong enough while being timid and endearing to take on a lead role for five performances in Siamsa Tíre. After over 120 young people attended workshops he ended up with

a core cast of 30 young actors including three phenomenal young Matilda’s; two nine-year olds girls - Aoibhinn from Ardfert, Tralee and Imogen from Listry, Killarney and the youngest Matilda at just seven young Kate from the Spa, Tralee. Matilda has astonishing wit, intelligence... and special powers! She’s unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Matilda’s school life isn’t completely smooth sailing, however – the school’s mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don’t abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils’ saving grace! Packed with high-energy dance numbers and catchy songs, Matilda JR. such as ‘Quiet’ , ‘Naughty’, ‘When I

CAN’T-STOP-EATING-IT GOOD!

Fish Chowder is such a great easy fish recipe that’s can’t-stop-eating-it good! A wonderful fish recipe for Easter – or anytime! Just imagine that moment when you dunk in a hunk of warm crusty bread... I think it’s a great easy fish recipe that’s a little different to the usual pan frying or baked fish recipes that can be made with many types of fish.

SPRING PEA FISH CHOWDER INGREDIENTS • • • • • • • • • • • •

3 leeks, white and pale green parts only, tough outer layer removed 2 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil 1 lb. baby potatoes, 2 tsp. salt, divided 1 1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper, plus more 1 cup pure clam or muscle juice 2 bay leaves 1 lb. skinless cod fillet, cut into 2x1” pieces 1 cup cream 1 (10-oz.) bag frozen sweet peas, 1 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice Pea shoots (tendrils) or sprouts, basil leaves, finely grated lemon zest, and flaky sea salt (for serving)

METHOD Cut leeks into 1/4” rounds. Rinse, tossing with hands so that leeks separate into individual rings, and drain thoroughly. Transfer to a medium pot. Add oil and toss to coat. Cover pot and cook over medium heat until leeks begin to soften, 5–6 minutes. Add potatoes, 1 tsp. salt, and 1 1/2 tsp. pepper and stir to combine. Add clam juice, bay leaves, and 2 cups water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook, uncovered, until potatoes are fork-tender, 10–12 minutes. Season cod with remaining 1 tsp. salt. Add to pot along with cream and peas and stir to combine. Cook, stirring occasionally, until cod is opaque, 3–4 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice. Divide chowder among bowls. Top with pea shoots, basil, and lemon zest. Season with sea salt and a generous amount of pepper

JOINT HEALTH

With OSTEOARTHRITIS joints gradually lose their cartilage (the smooth gel-like shock absorbing material) that prevents adjacent bones from touching. Most commonly affected are the fingers, knees, hip, neck and spine. The onset is often gradual, marked by mild joint stiffness and pain, especially in the morning and following rest. RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS is a chronic disorder in which the cartilage and other tissues in and around the bones become inflamed and damaged. Symptoms may include fatigue, weight loss, low fever and joint stiffness, which may be followed by red and painful swollen joints (wrists, fingers, knees, ankles and feet) that may feel warm. In rheumatoid arthritis, the immune system attacks the body’s own joints and associated tissues – the so called autoimmune reaction. In some people this inflammatory condition, which can appear between the ages of 20 and 40, may be the result of genetic predisposition. OSTEOARTHRITIS may be the result of decades of joint wear and tear, though genetic factors, excess weight and impairments in the body’s ability to repair cartilage may also play a role. Although osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis have different causes, there are many similarities in the natural supplements recommended for both. These products include....

GLUCOSAMINE...essential for maintaining healthy cartilage, the smooth tissue that lines joints. CHONDROITIN...is an important structural component of cartilage MSM...this is a perfect partner to glucosamine and plays an important role in joint health. VITAMIN C.. is needed for the manufacture of COLLAGEN, the protein that forms connective fibres in tissues such as ligaments, cartilage and muscles. Warriors add Super League crown to National Cup Garvey’s Tralee Warriors completed an incredible double of national titles by adding the InsureMyVan.ie Super League crown to the InsureMyHouse.ie Pat Duffy National Cup with a 78-72 win over C&S Neptune at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght on Saturday night. For the second time they denied C&S Neptune a major title with a come from behind victory, which at times seemed unlikely, as they trailed the Leesiders throughout the contest only to take the lead for the very first time with just four minutes on the clock. In the final quarter there came a crucial momentus swing to the Warriors. The Warriors fans were on their feet when Donaghy fired in the toughest shot in the game with a three from the corner and the supporters were in full voice when a floated effort from Calixte pushed them into a 74-70 lead. The All Star point guard repeated the dose a minute later with an uncontested lay-up after a Neptune turnover and with it the realisation that it was not going to be their night. Calixte would finish the game in style by adding two from two to finish with a game high 21 points and secure the Super League title for the Warriors much to the delight of the army of travelling fans who spilled onto the court to celebrate the Cup and League double. It was a fantastic final, full of incident and drama and it was a late charge from Warriors that proved to be the difference between the sides in the end. Photos credit Liam Ryan

TALKING SPORT WITH THE TRALEE ADVERTISER

with “The Voice” Pat Harnett

FAI NATIONAl P.R.O. OF THE YEAR RECOGNISE THOSE IN YOUR CLUB WHO MADE A CONTRIBUTION DURING THE PANDEMIC: Every club put in a huge effort during the pandemic and many volunteers made a huge contribution. There is now the opportunity to recognise these people who often do all their work behind the scenes. The portal is now open at www. volunteer.ie/about-us/covid-19volunteer-recognition/ Nominees can come from local authorities, PPNs, volunteer involving organisations and volunteer centres and the closing date is April 13th. Events will take place during National Volunteer Week to recognise their contribution. Announcing the launch of the portal this week, Minister Joe O’Brien said: “Thousands of volunteers around the country ensured that the most vulnerable and hard to reach members of our community were supported throughout the pandemic, through numerous initiatives including the Community Call. Their contribution, no matter how small, was absolutely crucial and my Department is working with Volunteer Ireland to recognise this and we urge everyone entitled to to nominate their volunteers.” WARRIORS DESERVE ALL THEIR REWARDS FOLLOWING HISTORIC ACHIEVEMENT: By now you will probably have read of Garvey’s Tralee Warriors SuperLeague title win where they defeated C&S Neptune 78-72 at the National Basketball Arena. They had to do it the hard way as the Cork side opened a 17-5 early lead and continued to lead narrowly all the way to the final 3 minutes. There was never much more than seven points between the sides but even the most dedicated of Warriors of fans must have been a little worried that they would not close the gap. However they did more that close it thanks to a Darragh O’Hanlon three pointer and two layups from Nikola Rosa, who had a huge influence on the second half of the game. Another Rosa layup was followed by a two point jump shot from the corner by Kieran Donaghy that brought the Warriors faithful to their feet and it seemed to take all the wind out of the Neptune sails. The Warriors, who had beaten the same opposition in the Cup final, knew this was their moment and they pushed on to take the win by 6. Aaron Calixte was named as the MVP and he ended with 21 points followed by Nikola Rosa on 13 and Eoin Quigley on 12. This was a historic win for Kerry basketball as no team had completed the Cup and League double and is a fantastic for the huge efforts the Warriors have put in since their foundation six years ago. The Warriors were led on the playing side by John Dowling – isn’t it great to see a still young local coach who served his

28

Friday 8th April 2022

apprenticeship over the past few seasons take his opportunity with both hands, he was able assisted by Garreth Moore, the basketball encyclopaedia that is Jimmy Diggins and team manager Kathleen Collins. On the court they had the perfect blend of hugely skilful imports and super talented local players while they always keep an eye on the future by bringing forward the next generation. Off the court their committee and huge group of volunteers put in a huge effort all through the season and the match day experience in the Sports Complex is second to none. Finally, and I know the players and coaches will also acknowledge this, the Warriors fans have been wonderful at both home and away games and were again by far the loudest of the two sets in Dublin last weekend. The Warriors deservedly received a Civic Reception during the week and can now relax in the knowledge of a job very well done. But knowing Terry O’Brien and those in the Warriors brain trust thoughts won’t be long turning to next season when they will be the team everyone wants to beat. BOBCATS SET FOR TILT AT ALL IRELAND TITLE: The All Ireland Club Championships in basketball have been taking place over the last few weeks with the u14 boys and girls in action. This weekend it’s the turn of the u16 Girls to head to Gormanstown with Ballymacelligott Bobcats and St Mary’s Castleisland set to represent Kerry. They will each play 3 Group games on Saturday with the play-offs, semi-finals and finals set for Sunday. TRALEE BOXING CLUB SELECTED TO HOST WOMEN’S BOXING PROGRAMME: The Tralee Boxing Club is happy to announce that they have been selected by the IABA as one of 20 clubs around the country that have been given the opportunity to become a delivery partner for the LEAD-Women’s Boxing Programme 2022. This six week programme aims to help clubs to increase the number of women participants in boxing training. Classes begin on Sunday April 10th at 4pm at the Tralee Boxing Club’s premises at Unit 5 Monavally Industrial Estate. The fee is e5 per person for this noncontact training and is open to complete beginners and no equipment is needed. LEAD- Women’s Boxing Programme participants must be age 18 years and over. This programme is fully funded by the IABA. Contact is through Liam 0838070207 or Caroline on 0872248484. TRALEE MANOR WEST BC READY FOR RAS MUMHAN: It’s hard to believe that we are just one week away from Easter which for cycling fans is a huge weekend as the Kerry

Group Ras Mumhan is back on the roads of Kerry. It was thought that Kerry had lost the Ras as the Killorglin based organising committee ended their 20 year association with the race when it was cancelled due to Covid. But credit to the new hard working committee led by Race Director Daithi Creedon and Race Secretary Sinead Moriarty it is all systems go for the 4 day Ras starting next Friday. Friday’s stage is run by the Tralee Manor West Club with a start and finish in the town after the race goes through Annascaul and Castlemaine covering 90km. This stage will begin at approximately 2pm. We will have full details of the other three stages next week – Stage 2 Killarney to Sneem 120km (Killarney CC), Stage 3 based in Knocknagree 110KM (Sliabh Luachra CC) and on Easter Monday the final 96km is based in the Knocknagohel area and will be run by the Currow CC club. AT THE TRACK: There is racing each week on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday nights at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium. The Tuesday night racing begins at 6.53pm with a 10 race SIS program. This Friday night from 7.46pm it’s the second round heats of the A1 570 yards John and Mary Killeacle Dowling Memorial as part of a 10 race programme. The racing this Saturday night also commences at 7.46pm with the two semi-finals of the A6 525 Yards Resets as the feature event in a 10 race programme. Entries are being taken for the much anticipated Lee Strand 550 yards for 60-72 entries for confined A3 Class which starts on Friday April 29th and all enquiries through the Racing Office on 061 448057. KERRY LADIES BID FOR LEAGUE GLORY: Following on from the dominant display by the Kerry seniors over Mayo to secure their Division 1 League title attention turns to the Ladies who are in headquarters this Sunday. Armagh are the opposition in Croke Park in the Lidl Ladies National League Division 2 final which throws in at 2pm. The management have, at the time of going to print, only one worry but it looks like Mary O’Connell will be fit for selection giving joint manager Declan Quill and Declan Quill and their backroom staff a nice headache. TRALEE/ST BRENDAN’S BOARD GO GAMES: This non-competitive League, sponsored by Kelliher’s Mills, is to give teams games before the County League programmes begin. In Group A Round 3 Ballymac were at home to Austin Stacks and Na Gaeil played John Mitchels while in Group B Round 2 it was St Pats against Kerins O’Rahillys last night (Thursday). Our Juvenile fixtures will take a break for a bit now while the clubs compete in the County and Central League’s. We wish them the best of luck. Well done to the Kerry Senior Team on Defeating Mayo in National League Final Div 1. It was great to see Joe o Connor of Austin Stacks who is the captain the Kerry team, receive the Cup alongside David Clifford, hopefully it’s not the last Cup for this year. We wish also to congratulate the other players for our town clubs who were on the panel last Sunday.

AUSTIN STACKS NEWS: Details of the GAA Gaeltacht scholarship scheme are available from the club. The younger age groups continue to train at the usual times this weekend.
