Kerry College Annual Careers Fair, a key event in the Calendar Kerry College Annual Careers Fair was held at Clash Road Campus last week and proved very successful. Organised jointly by Helen Brick, Work Placement Co-ordinator and Kay Lanigan Ryan, Industry Liaison Officer at Kerry College, Clash Road, it is a
key event in the Kerry College calendar and is mutually beneficial for Kerry College learners and employers who are interested in recruiting graduates with up-to-theminute skill sets. As final exams approach the learners are looking ahead, some are seeking summer employment as they will be returning to do Level 6 qualifications in September or moving on to third level. Others were eager to secure long term employment. Many interviews were secured by the QQI and ITEC students on the day,
there were plenty of jobs on offer by industry leading employers and students also got great tips and advice on how to move forward career wise. Recruitment agencies were present as well as individual organisations so it proved a great networking event and learners at Kerry College Clash Road, Denny Street and Killarney Campuses quickly realised how in demand their skills are and are now focused on completing their current studies in May. Some of the recruitment agencies and
organisations recruiting on the day were Home Instead Bluebird Care Gleneagle Group Muckross Park Hotel & SPA and FRS Recruitment.

Autopoint Motor Group was last week named by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI), as the “Independent Sales Operations of the Year’’. The awards ceremony was held in the Clayton Hotel - Burlington Road on the 7th of April last at the SIMI’s Irish Motor Industry awards. Presentations on the night were made by Brian Cooke, Director General of the SIMI and the Managing Director of Bank of Ireland Dermot McDermot. The Master of Ceremonies for the evening and host of the Awards Ceremony was Oliver Callan. The Tralee based company, which has grown from
strength to strength since it was founded, previously won the award in 2016, 2018 and 2020. “It’s a fantastic award for the team who have worked extremely hard and continue to show exemplary customer service in difficult and challenging times. Selling cars online was a real lifesaver for us during the pandemic. We are humbled and honoured to get recognition from the Irish motoring Industry once again. I’m sure there’s room for improvement so we’ll continue to strive to maintain the highest standards of customer service” Managing Director Brian Hanafin commented. Autopoint Motor Group offers a wide range of high quality pre owned cars and commercials, from €5,000 starter cars to €100,000 sports cars. Says

Need a Good laugh?
Oscar Wilde was in sparkling form when he wrote his short story ‘Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime’ in 1898. In this very funny tale poisonings, explosions and other lethal events are the order of the day. Adapted for the stage by Constance Cox, this play brings together eccentric characters such as a German anarchist, a fortune-teller and the dim-witted Lord Arthur Savile. Prospective bridegroom Arthur finds the road to matrimony has one big stumbling block… With a cast of ten, this wonderful comedy is guaranteed to banish any post-covid blues.

Kerry Greenways Brand is ‘Kingdom of Kerry Greenways’ The new greenway projects in County Kerry will be known and branded as the ‘Kingdom of Kerry Greenways.’ At a meeting of Kerry County Council today, councillors were presented with naming options and brand concepts for the two greenway projects which are due to open this summer. The Tralee-Fenit and Listowel-Abbeyfeale greenways will be open to the public in the coming months. The decision on the name of the greenways follows a stakeholder survey in relation to the two north Kerry projects which was undertaken by Kerry County Council, Fáilte Ireland and local community and business representatives. The survey highlighted the importance of greenways as amenities for the local community as well as their role in attracting visitors to the county. Groups and individuals along both routes were surveyed to inform the

creative process and to aid the development of distinctive branding and marketing by Zinc Design Consultants.
‘The naming process was undertaken in conjunction with Fáilte Ireland. The aim of the process was to select a name for the Kerry Greenways that is distinctive, appealing, and attractive to a local, domestic and international audience,’ said Niamh O’Sullivan, Head of Kerry County Council’s Tourism Unit. ‘This process resulted in a wide variety of names being suggested with two names being shortlisted for consideration. The name will act as an overarching or collective name for new greenways and will apply to other greenway projects in Kerry in the coming years,’ she said. Following today’s meeting, the consultants will further refine the branding and design
concepts in advance of the opening of the Tralee-Fenit and Listowel-Abbeyfeale greenways over the summer. The Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council, Cllr Jimmy Moloney welcomed the decision: ‘It is really exciting to see the design and branding concepts for the greenways coming to fruition. This is an important part of the process.

‘Choosing an overarching name such as ‘Kingdom of Kerry Greenway’ allows us to seamlessly integrate future greenways into the marketing and branding of all greenways in Kerry. ‘I want to thank all of the stakeholders who engaged with the consultation phase and I look forward to seeing the final brand being produced very soon,’ he said. THE TEAM AT THE CLINIC ARE HERE TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS ON COSMETIC AND HAIR RESTORATION ISSUES. This is the perfect time to get your skin Summer ready and at CHRC, we recommend our medical grade peels to correct, enhance and rejuvenate your skin. So what is a peel? Its an advanced type of exfoliation (www.vogue.co.uk/article/how-much-exfoliation-is-too-much) instead of using a physical scrub to remove skin cells, a peel uses a chemical liquid (either acid or enzyme) to remove the dead cells. Before you visualise Samantha in Sex and the City after her disastrous facial, I can set the set the record straight about the treatment, and reassure you that that a chemical peel (when performed by an experienced practitioner) is a wonderful thing! Peels help to lift away the dead skin cells that sit upon the skin, an excess of which can cause dullness, congestion and an uneven complexion. Having a skin peel can help stimulate healthier skin, keep blemishes at bay and address pigmentation concerns, and some even reduce fine lines and help tighten.
Sharon Chocolate-orange overnight oats Breathe new life into your brekkie routine with our zesty, chocolatey overnight oats reboot (9 Syns per serving, 5 minutes plus 12 hours overnight chilling, Serves 1, Deduct 7 Syns if using Porridge oats dried as a Healthy Extra ‘b’ choice.)
At CHRC, each of our peels are tailored mix to suit you, combining a mix of active ingredients, customised to meet your specific skin concerns. To find out if a peel would benefit your skin, we will complete a full skin analysis and discuss your skin concerns with you. Our revolutionary skin peels actively work to give you smoother and firmer looking skin with little or no down time and visible results. • 40g plain porridge oats • 2 level tsp cocoa powder • 1 tsp vanilla extract • 80g fat-free natural yogurt • 1 level tsp sweetener granules, optional • 1 orange, peeled, pith removed and cut into segments, to serve
“Glow” is suitable for dry, normal, oily, dehydrated, acne, ageing and hyperpigmentation skin. The multipurpose solution is effective in minimising the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation issues like age spots and uneven skin tone. Dead cells are exfoliated and new cells are stimulated to leave your skin glow like never before.
The night before, put the oats, cocoa powder, vanilla, yogurt and 100ml water and sweetener, if using, in a lidded, airtight container. Stir well, then seal and chill overnight.
If you have a big occasion coming up, the time to have your “Glow” is four weeks beforehand. The end result…radiant, soft and luminous skin. To find out more about our range of peels and which one if right for you, contact us at CHRC for a one to one consultation to get your glow on!

Irish Chef becomes the first qualified Green Manager worldwide
Odran Lucey, executive chef at The Rose Hotel in Tralee, Ireland, has become the first person in the world to successfully complete a brand-new qualification for Environmental Sustainability Management in Hospitality. Fifty Shades Greener (FSG) and the Confederation of Tourism & Hospitality (CTH) joined forces in late 2021 to create the first Level 4 (Level 6 in Ireland) certificate in
environmental sustainability management in hospitality. This is the first qualification of its kind to be regulated as an official qualification on the Ofqual framework of education. “Reducing carbon emissions should be something that becomes paramount in our daily routines if we really want to provoke a mindset change. Environmental education is key to driving this transformation and the general education system has a responsibility to not only prepare learners for the world of work, but provide them with the skills to influence employers, politicians and the wider society. This can be achieved through teaching learners how to measure, manage and monitor carbon emissions. When you do not measure something, you cannot manage it” explains Raquel Noboa, CEO of Fifty Shades Greener.

Engaging with the programme in 2021, Odran implemented an environmental management system at The Rose Hotel with many different reduction initiatives including: Changing all bulbs to LED across the Hotel, installing sensor lighting, replacing seals in all windows, collaborating with a local garden centre to utilise disposed of coffee, provide training to all employees, forming a green team and actively monitoring their utilities and CO2 every month. So far, the Hotel has achieved a reduction of energy of 16% and food waste by 26%. “When undertaking the FSG programme, while somewhat aware of the environmental issues we face, I was completely unaware to what extent our business was contributing to some of these issues. As the course progressed and we began completing the workbooks, we immediately saw areas where
much improvement could be made, from an environmental and financial perspective” Odran explains For further information get in touch with info@ fiftyshadesgreener.ie or Aisling Foley, Sales & Marketing Manager, The Rose Hotel afoley@ therosehotel.com

Our Town mourns the passing of a great character... Willie Seeler ...1941-2022 lilt and proud Tralee accent. A true genuine ould shtock of the rock, his stories could bring you back to times when men were men. He told me things about my own grandfather and harder days, boats going through the town when Tralee was flooded, how proud the town was of Connie Foley when his voice appeared in The Quiet Man singing The Wild Colonial Boy and bonfires for an eleven year old Billy Curtin in Stacks Villas after he was on tv in America. He shared tales of war time and so many other things... He marched with us in Gill O Briens band many moons ago, He loved DJ Curtin’s singing, and the song Peace in the Valley and of course the Stacks, Kerry, and a roll up cigarette and often speculated on the strength and the adventures of Tom Crean. Love-Kerry Lunch & Fashion Show in aid of Palliative Care Unit, Kerry General Hospital is a Spectacular Success All the months of meticulous planning by Claire Murphy and her hard working organising committee, paid off as over 300 guests enjoyed a wonderful day at the Love Kerry Lunch & Fashion Show in aid of Palliative Care Unit, Kerry General Hospital in Ballygarry Estate Hotel & Spa Sunday on Sunday. Claire Murphy, who organised the event in memory of her late father, Noel J. Loughran, thanked the generosity of those in attendance and those who sponsored prizes and said “My thanks are to everyone who sponsored, donated and gave up their Sunday to be at the event. I haven’t the final figure yet but the Dial-a-Diamond raised 5k alone which is outstanding”.
Guests enjoyed a pre-drinks reception, followed by a 4 course sumptuous Kerry sourced menu with wines and then were treated to a spectacular fashion show - opened by international fashion designer Colin Horgan and closed by another international fashion designer Don O’Neill. The full line up also included Carol Kennelly, MacBees, Hannons, Jasmine, Cathy Troth, Rebekah Wall and Goose Boutique Tralee. The show was fully sponsored by Upfront Model Management and Ray Stack Productions.. The afternoon was brilliantly mc’ed by well known fashion blogger and Instagram star the wonderful Orlagh Winters. The Best Dressed Lady judged by Danny Leane was Myra Glennon who won a spectacular prize of a bespoke
neckpiece by Rebekah Wall and a hamper from Expose Tralee. John Ross Jewellers generously sponsored the diamond for the ‘Dial a Diamond’ draw on the day, and the pre drinks reception
was sponsored by Clifford’s Cash & Carry. Bathrooms 4U also kindly sponsored two tables for the palliative care until at Kerry Hospice.

A SUNDAY ROAST ON EASTER SUNDAY... PERFECT!
Perfectly marinated meat that melts in the mouth is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. In my humble opinion slow roasting at a low temperature is the best way to cook a lamb shoulder. Sunday, the traditional day of a roast dinner...so no better timing than this Easter Sunday!
SLOW ROASTED LAMB SHOULDER Serves 4
INGREDIENTS • • • • • • • •
1.8kg / 3.5 lb lamb shoulder (bone in) 2 tbsp olive oil 2 tsp salt 1 tsp black pepper 1 onion, quartered (no need to peel) 1 head garlic , cut in half horizontally 3 garlic cloves , cut into slivers 8 sprigs rosemary 1 cup water
METHOD Preheat oven to 220°C fan Rub the lamb with the olive oil, salt and pepper. Use a thin, sharp knife to make 12 incisions in the lamb, deep as you can but without piercing through the bottom of the lamb. Stuff bits of rosemary and garlic slivers into the holes Place the onion, halved garlic bulb and rosemary in the base of a roasting pan. Place the lamb on top. Pour water around. Cover with lid or tightly with a double layer of foil. Place in the oven, and TURN DOWN to 180°C Slow roast, covered: Roast, covered with the foil, for 3 hours. Brown it, uncovered: Remove foil, check to ensure there’s still liquid in the pan. If not, add 3/4 cup water (otherwise onion/garlic will burn). Turn up the oven to 220°C and roast for a further 20 to 30 minutes, until the skin is browned and crisp. Check if ready: By now, you should be able to part the meat with two forks - if not, just cover and return to oven at 180°C until you can do so. Rest: Remove lamb from the roasting pan and transfer to a plate. Cover loosely with foil then a couple of tea towels and let it rest for at least 20 minutes, up to a couple of hours (after this, you may want to reheat).

FAI NATIONAl P.R.O. OF THE YEAR RAS MUMHAN ROLLS OUT OF TRALEE: After an absence of three years and with possibility of the Ras moving to Tipperary it will be wonderful to see the 2022 Kerry Group Ras Mumhan roll out of Tralee for Stage 1 of 4 on Friday. The first stage will see the peloton of almost 180 riders and the associated cavalcade of team cars and support vehicles roll out from the Manor West Hotel at 2.15 and continue through the town and out to Blennerville where the racing will start. The stage is being hosted by the Tralee Manor West BC and covers the same route as the Lacey Cup (Camp, Annascaul, Inch, Castlemaine) with an additional loop around Inch / Annascaul and finishing just past the Caherleahan junction between 4.40 and 5pm following 90km of racing. The second stage is the 120km ride from Killarney to Sneem while on Sunday it’s a 111km stage starting and finishing in Knochnagree. The final day, Easter Monday, sees the Ras based in Knocknagoshel covering 96km. Putting on an event of this magnitude is a huge undertaking and we all wish Race Director Daithi Creedon, Race Secretary Sinead Moriarty and Race Technical Director Stephen Griffin and all their officials and volunteers every success for the weekend. And to all the riders we hope you enjoy your four days of top class bike racing on our roads. For Tralee fans the Tralee Manor West BC riders will be wearing numbers 1 to 5 as the host club. Shane Courtney, John James Griffin, Cathal Moynihan, Vinny O’Leary and Joe Roche make up the Tralee BC team. 24 teams will take part while in the Junior section Cycling Ireland have entered a Junior team on which Killarney rider Sam Bolger will ride wearing 151 and Cycling Munster will have two teams. RALLY OF THE LAKES LAUNCHED: There will be plenty of Tralee rally competitors and fans heading to Killarney over the May Bank Holiday weekend where the International Rally of the Lakes, organised by the Killarney and District Motor Club, will take centre stage. The crews will cover two loops of the Kilsarcon, Banard and Gortnagane stages on Saturday and on Sunday it’s the classic Molls Gap followed by Ballaghbeama twice and then two loops of Shanara and Caragh Lake. Close on 200 cars will compete with the rally starting with a ceremonial start at 6pm on Friday night in Killarney town centre. KERRY CELEBRATES LADIES WIN: There was great joy in Croke Park and around the county last Sunday as the Kerry Ladies were crowned Lidl National Football League Division 2 champions. Under joint managers Darragh Long and Declan Quill they defeated Armagh 1-12 to 0-12 and will play in the top division

There was another first for the club at senior level when the B’s had their first outing. In the South Kerry League they took on Rathmore which was also a first and to mark the occasion the Parnells captain Ronan Gilsenan presented the hosts with a plaque to mark the occasion. With the help of an Andrew Morrissey goal, adding to one from Paul Daly, Parnells trailed by 1 points at half time 2-04 to 2-05. A third goal from Darragh Maloney saw the Tralee side lead by three points with ten minutes to go but Rathmore fought back to level the game 3-08 to 2-11. The club was delighted to see its u17 players Oran Murphy, Sean Naughton, Odhran Kerins and Donncha Buttimer on the victorious Mercy Mounthawk side that won the Munster u16.5 Frewen Cup for the first time this week. The club was delighted to host a fun day for the families from Ukraine that are currently staying in Tralee. Coach Diarmuid Brennan showed them some of the skills of hurling which they enjoyed. very strong Sunday with two wins over Tipperary Knights and Maree to take 5th in Ireland in the A Division. BULL’S ROAR PAST THE WHEELBLASTERS: The Kingdom Wheelblasters took on the Ballybrack Bulls in the latest round of the IWA Basketball League. The Tralee side made a very good start and led by two after the first quarter 12-10 and at the half 22-20. However the Bulls fought back in the third quarter and the Wheelblasters were unable to break their press. By the end of the third quarter the Bulls had gone into the lead 30-26. The Wheelblasters battled hard but it was their opposition that finished the stronger and took the win 39-27. With two games left in the League the Wheelblasters squad are gaining experience with each outing and are aiming for a 4th place League finish which would be their best. There next game will be in two weeks where they will be in Dublin to face Killester. For the Kingdom Wheelblasters Tadgh Buckley was the top scorer with 13 followed by Cian Horgan on 6 with both Ryan Paul and Dean McCarthy shooting four points each. KEVIN NEARS THE END OF HIS 200 DAY CHALLENGE: Kevin Williams will complete his 200 Day Winter Cold Water Swim Challenge on Easter Monday which is some achievement. And he also has over e200 in the kitty which he plans on spending on bringing some of the towns Ukrainian families from the Earl to Fenit and providing them with some lunch or coffee and cakes. Kevin is looking for some help with a bus etc and he can be contacted on the Tralee Bay Swimmers or the Fenit Winter Swimmers and Dippers FB pages. ON THE GREENS: TRALEE GC: At the Tralee Golf Club the Spring Medal Stroke, sponsored by Bailys Solicitors, was won by Cianan Ferris on 74 followed by Martin Mitchell, Colm Sheehy, Pat Prenderville and Trevor Harty. Well done to Bernard Keane who hit a Hole in One on the 3rd Hole. In the Club sponsored singles the winner was Sean Reidy with Sean O’Keeffe in second. The Ladies Rose Hotel Open Day was won by the team of Mary Savage, E Kenny-Ryan from Ballybunion and Ann Kinane Cremer from Tipperary. Second was the Killarney trio of Fionnuala Mann, Mary Murphy and Louise Langan. The Singles stableford for the Ladies went to Rhona Johnson with Eleanor Dowd second while the Single Stroke competition was won by Mary Murphy.

IN MEMORY THE MIRACLE PRAYER Dear Heart of Jesus in the past I have asked for many favours, this time I ask you this special one (mention favour). Take it dear Heart of Jesus and place it within your Heart where your Father sees it, then in his merciful eyes it will become your favour not mine. Amen. Say this prayer three times for three days and your favour will be granted. Never known to fail. Must promise publication of prayer. Many thanks for favours recieved L.T.
PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING Father in Heaven, Creator of all and source of all goodness and love, please look kindly upon us and receive our heartfelt gratitude in this time of giving thanks. Thank you for all the graces and blessings. You have betowed upon us, spiritual and temporal: our faith and religious heritage. Our food and shelter, our health, the loves we have for one another, our family and friends. Dear Father, in Your infinite generosity, please grant us continued graces and blessing throughout the coming year. This we ask in the Name of Jesus, Your Son and our Brother.
