LEGAL MATTERS CORNER MIRIAM MC GILLICUDDY ANSWERS YOUR LEGAL QUERIES
Ben bought a computer for his home business it cost him €1900 including printer. He set it up at home but found that the hard drive was burnt out. He tried to get his money back from the shop he bought it in but they are saying he burnt out the hard drive himself. He only has the computer a week. The small claims court is an efficient way to seek redress where a claim is below €2000. As there is no risk of costs being awarded against people for taking a claim people can bring claims themselves online through www. csol.ie . There are a huge range of claims that can be brought to this court e.g. claims against businesses for goods and services purchased for consumer or business use, minor property damage, and deposits for holiday rentals or for room/space where the landlord lives on the property. Otherwise landlord and tenant disputes need to go to the RTB. www.rtb.ie So Ben could issue his claim online through the site above. It is important he has the name and address of the business he bought the computer from as they are the respondent in the case and it would usually be on the receipt. Sometimes where it is a company the details may need to be checked on www. cro.ie. As it looks like that the state of the computer will be an issue it might be a good idea to have a computer expert look at the computer who could then be a witness in court as to its defects. In the claim as well as the details of the Respondent your own details need to be put in and as much detail as possible concerning the issue. Where a claim is brought to the small claims court the District Court Clerk will check if the parties wish to avail of mediation. If they do and it sorts the issue out then the claim will end there. Otherwise if parties do not wish to avail of mediation it will go straight to the Small claims court and be heard as a Civil claim by the District Court Judge. It costs €25 to take the claim. Some people do like to employ a solicitor to deal with the claim particularly if it is going to be very contentious. The small claims court does not deal with hire purchase disputes, leases or debts. However for defective purchases and services it is a very effective way of sorting disputes. If an award is made against a business there can be enforcement then for example through the Sheriff’s office. Law quip: “The power of the lawyer is in the uncertainty of the law.” - Jeremy Bentham

Medical Matters
TREATMENT OF SEVERE ACNE BY DR DAVID BUCKLEY Most people with acne have mild to moderate disease which can be easily managed by creams, gels and sometimes simple acne tablets. However, a small percentage of people with acne can have severe, resistant disease that does not respond to standard therapies. This can often lead to scarring which may be permanent. It can also have a profound effect on the patient’s mood and self-esteem. Fortunately, there is a tablet treatment known as Roaccutane (isotretinoin) which is extremely effective for severe, resistant forms of acne. This tablet can also be used for people with less severe but more persistent acne that relapses after standard therapies. Roaccutane is known as a vitamin A derivative and a course normally lasts six to nine months. This drug is usually only prescribed by skin specialists who must follow strict guidelines to ensure the drug is prescribed safely. It can cause severe damage to an unborn child. Therefore, all woman of childbearing age, must use effective contraception for one month before, throughout the treatment and one month after completing the course of Roaccutane treatment.
Patients on Roaccutane must see their prescribing doctor monthly for blood tests whilst on this treatment. There are rare reports that Roaccutane might cause mood disorders or depression, especially in young men. However, the evidence for this is very weak and it is far more likely that the acne itself could cause depression rather than the treatment. As Roaccutane is so effective at curing severe acne, most patient’s mood improves significantly on completion of the course of treatment. We advise people on Roaccutane to avoid alcohol and any other mind-altering drugs (hash, E’s etc) while on this treatment. Roaccutane always clears acne no matter how severe and 3 out of 4 people who complete a course will never get their acne back again. A small percentage of people may need a second course. For more information on Roaccutane please see www.kerryskinclinic.ie

Interested in taking a Foreign Student on Work Placement? Opticians - Childcare – Shop assistants – Carpenters – Office Administration – Waiters - Mechanics – Marketing – Social Media – Cooks – Healthcare assistants – receptionists – and lots moreSo many companies are already seeing the benefits of taking on a foreign student on work placement these days but it is not too late for any company to sign up for the programme either. What’s involved? Celtic School of English in Tralee organise English & Work Placement programme for foreign students coming to Tralee for a few weeks at a time. Over
the next few months they will have Italian, French and German students arriving and all looking to experience the Irish work environment as well as culture and everyday life. Students vary in their work experience history. Some are attending the equivalent of a vocational leaving cert and require a taste of what working life is like in their chosen field. Other students are a little older and are doing apprenticeship programmes. Quite often, these students are taking time off work in their own country and coming to Ireland to gain experience with the permission of their
own employers and are, perhaps, looking to make ties between their own employers and their new employers in Ireland. At Celtic School of English, we try to find the most suitable companies for students to do their work experience. There are so many benefits to a business who participate such as No payment necessary ...Work placements students are UNPAID!! Employers do not need to pay the students.. No Insurance required ; they can work
flexible hours ; They bring a fresh insight and a new culture; They can be short or long term and they can help bridge a gap for employers .Interested in taking a student on work placement? Contact Anne in Celtic School of School and she will organise everything for you! 066 7180088 / 087 2275677 / anne@celticschoolofenglish. com

Saorview connect box
Recently I had written about the new Saorview connect Box. They have now released new software which add a recording feature by connecting a USB hard drive. I have been testing one for the last week. Like Sky you can now setup series link but only on the saorview channels. However, I was a bit disappointed that you don’t have this feature on the satellite channels, you can only record now and next. You can record saorview and watch Satellite channels. The EPG Guide is very good on saorview, but I found on the satellite channels the EPG was poor only showing now and next. On the positive side there are coming closer to the features that sky offer, it also has the RTE player and you can download the app to enable remote recording provided you connect it to your broadband.
Paramount Joins Freesat
Anyone who has a Freesat Box can now enjoy the Paramount channel !. On channel number 132, viewers will have access to the best of premium US scripted drama, high quality comedy and movies featuring top Hollywood stars. Offering timeless TV moments and non-stop action, Paramount Network is the home of big characters and big stories. Highlights across April and May include top quality US dramas such as political thriller, Designated Survivor starring Kiefer Sutherland and Suits, the iconic legal drama set in a cut-throat US law firm. From Marvel, there’s Agent Carter, as well as the adventures of DC hero Arrow. There’s also comedy with hit US hidden camera show, Impractical Jokers, as four real-life friends challenge each other to prank unsuspecting members of the public; while fans of Dunder Miflin can reacquaint themselves with the spoof US fly-on-the-wall documentary, The Office US from the very beginning. The channel also houses a unique selection of movie-themed weekends, featuring particular genres or directors, such as a High School Movies Weekend (Easy A, Mean Girls, The Breakfast Club), a Musicals Weekend, (Les Miserables, Burlesque, The King & I) and a Baz Luhrmann Weekend, (Strictly Ballroom, Moulin Rouge, Australia).

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS: IS GOOD FRIDAY A PUBLIC HOLIDAY? Question Is Good Friday a public holiday? Answer Good Friday fell on 19 April in 2019. It is not a public holiday. While many businesses close on Good Friday, you have no automatic entitlement to time off work on that day. However, Easter Monday is a public holiday. This year it fell on Monday 22 April. If a public holiday falls on a day on which you normally work, you are entitled to either: • A paid day off on the public holiday • A paid day off within a month of the public holiday • An additional day’s pay • An additional day’s annual leave If the public holiday falls on a day on which you do not normally work, then you are entitled to one-fifth of your normal weekly wage for that day. Part-time employees qualify for public holiday entitlement if they have worked at least 40 hours during the 5 weeks ending on the day before a public holiday

HEALTHY RECIPES for 2019
A whole roast chicken is a joy to behold, crispy skin juicy flesh and the smell mmmmm yum yum, and with bit of thought not just a plain one,
CHICKEN ALLA DIAVOLA Serves 4
INGREDIENTS • • • • • • • • •
1/2 cup white wine vinegar 1 tablespoons dried oregano 1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil Two 3- to 3 1/4-pound chickens 2 teaspoons dried sage 1 teaspoon sea salt 1 teaspoon piment d’ Espelette or Aleppo pepper, or 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper 1 teaspoon dried rosemary 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
METHOD In a small jar, combine the white wine vinegar with the dried oregano. Cover and let stand at room temperature for 2 days. Strain the oregano-infused vinegar into a small bowl and stir in the olive oil. Using kitchen shears, remove the wing tips and the backbones from the chickens. Set the chickens on a large rimmed baking sheet, skin side up, and press down firmly on the breastbones to flatten them so that the legs face the breasts. Score each breast, drumstick, thigh and wing halfway to the bone in two places per part. Drizzle all but 2 tablespoons of the vinegar-oil mixture over both sides of the chickens and rub the mixture into the meat. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour. In a small bowl, combine the dried sage with the salt, piment d’ Espelette, dried rosemary and ground black pepper. Rub the seasoning all over the chickens. Let the seasoned chickens stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 180°. Roast the chickens in the upper third of the oven, skin side up, basting both chickens with the remaining vinegar-oil mixture half way through, until the chicken is just cooked, and an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh registers 75°, about 45 minutes. Preheat the grill or BBQ, Pour the pan juices into a small saucepan. Grill the chickens about 4 inches from the heat, rotating the pan, until browned and crisp, about 3 minutes. Carve the chickens. Reheat the pan juices

TEEN EVENING EVENT Wed May 29th 5pm-8pm | Thurs June 13th 5pm-8pm Spaces are limited (For teens aged 11-18) What is Invisalign teen?
Invisalign Teen is the virtually invisible way to straighten your teen’s teeth without the restrictions that come with metal braces. Rather than wires and brackets, Invisalign® uses a series of clear, removable aligners that have been custom-made for your teen’s teeth. Your teen simply wears them over their teeth and changes them out for a new set of aligners every week. Little by little, your teen’s teeth gradually shift into place, achieving that confident smile.
How does my Teen wear Invisalign Teen?
Invisalign Teen must be worn 22 hours per day and changed every week. Invisalign Teen has a built-in assurance check; each aligner has blue indicators that fade over time when used as directed, so that Dr Colm can track compliance.
Is Invisalign as effective as traditional metal braces?
Yes. When worn according to the recommendations of your Invisalign Provider, Invisalign Teen is as effective as traditional braces. Invisalign can effectively treat mild to severe cases, including underbite, overbite, overcrowding and gaps between teeth.
What are the advantages of Invisalign?
With Invisalign, the aligners are removable, so your teen can play sports as normal. They can also continue playing musical instruments properly, without braces getting in the way. With braces, there is a long list of foods your teen shouldn’t eat, with Invisalign, there are no such restrictions. The removable aligners make it easy to brush and floss normally to maintain proper oral hygiene.
My teen is sitting exams this year, will Invisalign treatment interfere with school?
Once your teen is fitted with Invisalign they will only need to attend once every 10-12 weeks to be reviewed. We put great effort into scheduling all appointments in advance so that they can be booked outside of school hours.

Beauty
HELLO BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE! I HOPE YOU’RE HAVING AN AMAZING WEEK!
This week I’m going to talk about my current makeup must haves - I haven’t been wearing any makeup as I’m currently in Thailand but I’m V excited to do a bit of glam again!
TOO FACED
URBAN DECAY
Born This Way Foundation: WOW. I got this Foundation as a sample from Mecca (its Australia’s answer to Sephora - better than the Sephora here in my opinion). Anyway, ever since first trying this Foundation I have been OBSESSSSSSSSING. It just makes my skin look sooooo flawless, healthy and just, fab. Not suuuuper full coverage but definitely buildable. As with any Foundation I recommend trying a sample first. I got it for $57 so that’s around €35.
All Nighter Setting Spray: I forgot how much I’m obsessed with this Setting Spray. It’s literally the best, better than the ridiculously expensive YSL one I got a notion to buy this one time. Buy this - it will change your makeup game, promise.
NARS - SOFT MATTE COMPLETE CONCEALER I typically am more of a liquid concealer Gal but the salesperson in Mecca gave me a sample of this to try… and oh my god, I think I’m converted. My problem with a cream concealer is that I thought it would go really dry and cakey and crease really badly - but this one did not. At least on my skin anyway. (Which is combination/acne prone/red)
CHARLOTTE TILBURY AIRBRUSH FLAWLESS FINISH POWDER
I was lucky enough to get this in the Makeup by Mario Masterclass gift bag when I went this one time with Keilidh Mua & The Cloud10 Gals. This Powder really does make my skin look flawless.its worth the splurge and you literally only need the tiniest bit.
SO THEY’RE MY CURRENT MAKEUP OBSESSIONS… EVERY PRODUCT HERE I 100% RECOMMEND.

BEXBLAH
FITNESS!
HELLO MY STRONG STRONG FRIENDS, I hope you’re all having a great week. I’ve been loving a good cardio sweat sesh so this week I’m going to talk about the importance of cardio. Now when I say cardio is important I don’t mean jogging excessively on the treadmill for hours, hating every second, punishing yourself for that ‘bad food’ you ate. NO. I’m talking about doing different exercises that make you feel good and improve your cardiovascular health while doing so. It might be swimming, boxing, a gym class, walking the dog, cycling anything that gets you up and moving and feeling good!
I used to hate ‘cardio’ because what cardio meant to be was doing the same exercise EVERY time. Aka jogging for 30 mins. When I started switching up the cardio workouts I was doing, introducing swimming, sprints, interval training, boxing, gym classes etc… I really started enjoying it! I love getting a good sweat on and getting my heart rate up! I also fell in love with the Cardio classes in Titan Fitness, I loved the feeling I got after them. Doing cardio is important to maintaining a healthy heart. Your heart is the centre of your cardiovascular system, and is vitally responsible for giving your body life! Of course, doing excessive intense cardio is not good either. It will put your body in a catabolic state and burn your hard earned muscle. Then if you lose too much muscle it will slow down your metabolism in turn making it harder to burn fat. So if you think introducing a training regime where all you do is intense cardio sessions 5 times a week with no weight training, you’re not going to benefit!
If you think you have fallen into a rut of either extreme(all weight training or all cardio) just try and introduce something new to switch it up a little. Of course you can do things like HIIT training with some weights and get the best of both worlds. All I’m saying is, cardio is not the devil when done correctly. And it will actually help your performance in the weight room.
Rebecca

Denis is not really looking for your vote! Well; this certainly is one for the books, perhaps the first time we’ve ever seen a candidate running for local election that is not actively canvassing for your vote. Denis O’Reilly is a Natural Health Practitioner and the last into the race for the election just before the close. Mr. O’Reilly felt compelled to run on what he says are the imminent health implications which will be caused by 5G wireless technology. Here are he thoughts from Mr O’Reilly “People can see these new 5G antenna being located on almost every second pole in town. This technology is masquerading as being beneficial with faster broadband speeds and increased efficiency; however the health implications are toxic and irreversible. Scientific and Medical Independent peer-reviewed reports show clearly that 5G will be detrimental to all living organisms. 5G will exponentially increase the microwave and millimeter wave radiation in our environment. Trees in particular will impede the distribution of these waves
and therefore they must be severely trimmed or cut down altogether to allow stronger penetration into buildings. Take a look at the beautiful Trees severely cut at Day Place by The Dominican Church, this kind of thing will become more and more commonplace. There is an uproar in cities like Sheffield in the UK already because of tree felling. “Don’t take my word for it” said Denis; I would literally implore the people of Tralee to watch the ‘5G Apocalypse’ on YouTube. Would any of us put our head or a baby’s head into a microwave oven and switch it on? Even at the lowest level? We owe it to ourselves and to our children to stop this radiation being imposed upon us on poles around towns, schools, hospitals and the countryside. Our rights and due processes have been by-passed since Irish planning law was amended in 2018. Local and nationally elected officials haven’t raised Health and Safety issues. It’s up to us, the public to speak out, then they will be compelled to take action.
Despite the evidence, the dept of Communications, Climate Action & Environment (DCCAE); Comreg, ESB and the wireless industry continue to assert that there is no proven harm from EMR. I am running to bring awareness to this very important issue. I have two children at primary school. I don’t want to see children with genetic defects in the future, then one day, say my own may say “Daddy knew all about this, and did Nothing!” I’m being very clear and straight by saying that I’m not going to be at the end of a phone to fill in pot holes, or have your back door repaired or anything like that. There are others for that. This vital issue concerns each and every one of us. If you wish to vote for me on this issue then I will accept it gratefully. Your vote will really be for yourself, your children and your children’s children. No issue by any other candidate is as important as this. All of the wars ever fought will pale in comparison to the damage that this technology will bring on Humanity and Nature in order to make
trillions of dollars for a select few while violating our human rights. 5G is being rolled out worldwide at present; it’s being blocked by regulators in places like Brussels, Rome, Israel & Washington siting heath concerns. Ask yourself why? This is our opportunity to try and stop it, after the elections I feel it may already be too late. What a price to pay so people can download a film faster. Let’s all get real for once! Denis O’Reilly is also a qualified Radio, TV and Electronics Mechanic and he says that; ‘Fiber Optic Broadband’ to homes and businesses throughout the country is a safer and feasible option. When the people pay for it, they should own and control it. Voting? The choice is yours!

LAUGHTER ....THE BEST MEDICINE ! A CRUISE SHIP PASSED A TINY, ISOLATED ISLAND.
Everyone on board could see a bearded man on the island, shouting and desperately waving his hands. “Who is that man?” a passenger asked the ship’s captain. “Why is he so upset?” “I have no idea,” said the Captain, “but every year when we pass by here, he goes nuts.”

IN THE WORDS OF BILL MURRAY...
An Irish man knocks on the door of an old lady, he says he’s broke and looking for work. The old lady says “Sure, I’ll pay you to paint my porch.” So she gives the Irish man some paint and he leaves. One hour later the man comes back, “Are you already done?” the lady asked, “Aye.” said the Irish man, “But it’s not a porch it’s a Mazda.”
THE IRISH MILLIONAIRE
“I haven’t got a clue.” said Mick, ‘’So I’ll use last lifeline and phone my friend Paddy back home in Dublin ..” Mick called up his mate, and told him the circumstances and repeated the question to him. “Feckin hell, Mick!” cried Paddy. “Dat’s simple it’s a cuckoo.” “Are you sure?” “I’m feckin sure.” Mick hung up the phone and told Chris, “I’ll go with cuckoo as my answer.” “Is that your final answer?” asked Chris. “Dat it is.” There was a long, long pause and then the presenter screamed, “Cuckoo is the correct answer! Mick, you’ve won 1 million euros!” The next night, Mick went round to Paddy’s to buy him a drink. “Tell me, Paddy? How in Heaven’s name did you know it was da Cuckoo that doesn’t build its own nest?” “Because he lives in a Feckin clock!”

FAI NATIONAl P.R.O. OF THE YEAR TRALEE BC’S MARY MCDONAGH’S BID FOR BOXING GLORY: Tralee Boxing Club will once again be on the national stage when their young boxer Mary McDonagh will take on Sarah Cowen (Evolution) in the National 57kg Girl 1 final in the National Stadium. Mary was very impressive in her semi-final when she stopped her opponent in the first round. For one so young she is a very strong boxer often throwing around 90 shots per round. Hopefully she can bring the title back to Tralee. Ellen Burke just failed to become the second boxer in action as she lost out in the semi-final of the Girl 2 57kg. It will be a big night for Kerry boxing in the National Stadium ring with Sliabh Luachra BC’s Shauna Riordan takes on Chloe Black from Tulllow BC and Keri Goad from Ballyduff will go up against Caoimhe Carthy from St Brigids Kildare in the Girl 6 (80+kg). Sliabh Luachra’s Katelyn Horan and Ava Fitzmaurice have both qualified for the finals but it looks like they will get walk-overs as there are no opponents for them in the 54kg and 60kg categories. Kerry already has a new champion with Ballyduff’s Sarah Griffin experience the feeling of having her hand raised in triumph in the Stadium last weekend. She took the title with a very impressive unanimous win over Katie Rose Lavery from the Loughshore club. ACTION AT THE TRACK: At the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium this Friday night there are the second rounds of the Kingdom Stadium Novice 325 yards. On Saturday night there are the finals of the Lee Strand 550 yards plus a top class all sponsored Lee Strand program. Racing will take as normal on Sunday night with the first of the 8 SIS races off at 6.36pm. The racing office on 061 448057 is currently taking entries for the Kerry Group club Championship starting on Fri May 24th, the Kingdom Stadium Novice 525 yds starting on June 1st and

the Navillus Race of Champions starting on Fri June 7th. BANNA RALLY BACK NEXT YEAR: There was good news on the rally front when the Kerry Motor Club announced that it will bring back the Kerry Winter Stages Banna Rally in November 2020. The club felt it was not in a position to run the rally in 2017 or again this year. It will be great to see the event, hopefully again under the longrunning sponsorship of the Banna Beach Resort, back again as it was aimed mostly at the club crews with many of the counties drivers and co-drivers making their debut in Banna over the years. PITCH AND PUTT NEWS: At the draws for the Provincial and National Matchplay Championship finals on the Rockledge course on the June Bank Holiday weekend Tralee’s Tony BLake will tee off in the very first match on the weekend s he faces defending champion Bryan Delaney of Cork. Jason O’Regan will take on Stephen O’Reilly from Hillview and Lisa O’Connor will face Sarah O’Neill in the opening game of the Ladies NETT event. In the Munster Matchplay in Larkspur Park Tralee’s Jason Cregan will play Cork’s Daithi Sexton in the first round of the Senior Mens with Aidan O’Sullivan facing Martin O’Connor in the Intermediate section. David Hobbert will play Darren O’Donnell after the Junior Draw. Lisa O’Connor will have a busy time as she is also in the Munster Intermediate event taking on Margaret Courtney from Tipperary. There was hard luck for my nephew Robbie Harnett and his St Brendan’s College teammates in the Munster Secondary Schools competition. They took 10th with the top 9 teams qualifying for the All Ireland finals. MORE SUCCESS ON THE HARDWOOD: The Kerry basketball season is on a high at present with the Kerry U14 and U16 Girls teams both recording Friday 17th May 2019
notable successes picking up titles at tournaments in Cork and Dublin, The U14 Girls under Coach Tommy O’Connor and captained by Roisin Smith and Shauna Tagney defeated Cork and Dublin in Artane. This weekend the same teams are hosted by Kerry at the Moyderwell Gym in Tralee with 6 teams competing in the tri county tournament with Kerry Green , Kerry Gold Cork A & B Dublin A & B all competing Last weekend the Kerry U16 girls attend the Cork Area board invitational blitz in the Fr Mathews Arena in Cork. Kerry overcame Cork A & B teams, Galway and Dublin A and B teams to take the title. Coaches were Martin Conway and Trish Phillips Captains were Eimear Burke and Aoife Kerins. Mounthawk Gym will host the Kerry U16 & U17 girls Kerry Cork A Cork B this weekend. The U12 Kerry girl’s teams have commenced development training with Coaches Tracey Hartnett, Conor Brosnan, Trish Phillips. 30 players have been selected from trials of almost 100 players for training over May & June with Blitz competitions set for later in June. TWO OUT OF THREE WIN ON THE CRICKET PITCH: It was a good weekend for Kerry cricket with the Kerry 1ST eleven seeing off Galway at the Lydican. The visitors to Galway won by 6 wickets. There was no joy for the Kerry 4th eleven as they went down away to Lismore losing out by just 19 runs. The Kerry 2nd eleven defeated their Limerick counterparts by a wide margin of 248 runs. Kerry put up a big total of 398 for Limerick to chase but they were all out in the 33rd over for just 150. This Saturday Kerry 2 go to Adare to take on Limerick 2 in the Junior Cup, The 1st are in Cork for the Premier division clash on Sunday with the 3rds at home to Cork Harlequins in Division 2 at the Spa. 19’S WIN THE LEAGUE OF IRELAND HIGHLIGHT: The Kerry u19’s League of Ireland side had to wait a while for their first goal and first win of the season but last Sunday all of this came to pass. They put three past Cabinteely in Mounthawk Park with Jordan Barry getting 2 and Martin Coughlan announcing his return with the second goal. It was a great effort by the squad and management after they lost out in the Enda Magill Cup in midweek. The Kerry 17’s went down 2-1 away to Cabinteely whose goals came from two penalties. They are at home to UCD this Sunday at 2pm with the 19’s away
to the same opposition. The Kerry 15’s left it late but a Cianan Cooney goal gave them a vital share of the points in their home game against Limerick. Kerry sit second in the Division with three games to play and travel to Mayfield to take on Cork on Saturday. The 13’s put in a good effort but went down 4-0 away to title chasing Limerick. They face another tough game this Saturday at home to the unbeaten Cork. The Kerry girls were in action in the CWSSL Blitz in Cork where they took on Wexford, two Cork sides and Dublin with Mollie Duggan on the score sheet. A FINAL FOR THE NOSTALGIC The final of the Greyhound Bar Cup this year will certainly stir some nostalgia in Kerry soccer fans. Killarney Celtic were already through and Tralee Dynamos got past their neighbours the Park 1-0 (Illr Sahiti) to set up a final that will bring back memories of the great clashes of the past. Things have totally changed for both clubs and the rivalry is certainly not as intense as it once was. But in a one-off Cup final this Sunday at Mounthawk Park at 3pm while Celtic will be hot favourites the new Dynamos side will be well up for the battle. PARK U12 C’S TAKE THEIR TITLE: St Brendan’s Park u12 C team won Division 2. The team mainly is made up of u11 players with a few u10 players also as part of the squad. Head coach Barry McMahon did a terrific job with his squad as 19 players received medals last week from Colm McLoughlin on behalf of the Kerry schoolboys/schoolgirls league. The main benefit is the exposure these young players had this season to competitive football. Captain Tadgh Falvey accepted the trophy on behalf of the team. All at Park FC are very proud of Barry and his squad for their achievements this season. SUMMER CYCLING SEASON UNDERWAY: The Summer competitive cycling season got underway last week with the first of the Hill Climbs, part of the National series. The 3km up the hill by Craig Cave in Castleisland saw the versatile Conor Kissane clock the fastest time of 7m 29 seconds. There was a tie for second with John James Griffin and Jerry McCarthy both stopping the clock at 8.38.The top 5 was rounded out by Joe Roche and Sean Higgins. The events continue on Thursdays night alternating between the Time Trial, the Road Race League and the Hill Climb. Last night – Thursday night May 16th – was the first of the new short course Time Trial over the 10km from Farranfore to just outside John Mitchels. ATHLETICS: There were some strong Tralee performance in the u9’s to u16’s

THE KELLIHER’S TOYOTA TRALEE CENTRAL REGION 16’S FINAL, AUSTIN STACKS V LAUNE RANGERS Austin Stacks proved too strong for the challenge of Laune Rangers when they met in the final of The Kelliher’s Toyota Tralee Central Region under 16’s football competition on Monday evening. Stacks were first to score but Laune Rangers soon ran into a two point lead after fifteen minutes. Some fine points from Shane Bastible put the boys from the Rock into a two point lead and a goal by Donnacha Sayers put five between the sides. Laune Rangers quickly responded and Callum Russell stuck the ball in the Stacks net. Play was evenly distributed between the two teams up to this stage but by half time Stacks lead by 2-05 to 1-04. The opening ten minutes of the second half saw Stacks off to a good start scoring a further goal and three points without reply from Rangers increasing the margin
between the sides to ten points. A purple patch by the lads from Killorglin saw them hit five points without reply reducing the margin to five. Stacks again dominated for the last five minutes and ran out eventual winners by a score of, Austin Stacks 4-09, Laune Rangers 1-10 PARNELL’S NEWS The Parnell’s club are looking forward to a big night in the Ashe Hotel on Saturday the 25th when the club party will take place. Tickets are now on sale in the club. It has been a big year for the club with their men’s team competing as a Senior club playing in the Intermediate competitions and the adult women’s team who took part in the Blitz in Currans recently. The club was very proud of its players Devon Burns, Luke Chester and Enda O’Connor who all lined out with the successful Kerry minors. The hurling and camogie panels are fundraising to offset the cost of Feile 2019 and are asking for lots of support of their climb of Mount Brandon. In the underage sections Keegan Walsh was the U8 Boys Player of the Week with Scott Fitzmaurice and Aoibheann Collins taking the u6 awards over the last two weeks. Many of the clubs players were in action in the final blitz of the year hosted by Causeway Comprehensive School which took place on Wednesday. This Saturday Kerry hurling welcomes Tipperary u20 manager Liam Cahill to Currans where he will host a coaching workshop. This will focus on forward play from u12’s to seniors and all coaches are welcome to attend. The club is grateful to O’Connell’s Pharmacy at St Brendan’s Park for the sponsorship of first aid kits for the clubs camogie teams. AUSTIN STACKS NEWS: The underage teams continue to train at their usual times. The u8’s will host a Blitz this Wednesday. The Go Games for the u10’s took place on Wednesday hosted by Kerins O’Rahillys. The u12’s had a great day in Dublin at the annual Kilmacud Crokes Blitz with the Division 1 team coming away victorious to repeat last year’s result. The Division 2 also got to their final but they came up just short against the hosts. The club thanks the hosts for their hospitality and all the players came home tired but with life long memories. The u14’s were busy this week. The A’s put in a very strong second half performance to defeat Kilcummin in the Division 1County semi-final. They are due to play Keel / Listry in the final this Friday night, May 17th, in Killorglin. The U14 B’s saw off Keel / Listry in the first round of the County League Division 9A. The u16’s are the Central League A champions. They defeated Laune Rangers in the final. The Division 3 side played their final Central League game coming up just a little short against Churchill. They will now

look forward to the County League. Seven of the u16’s are also on the North Kerry Development squad. The Club’s Cul Camps will take place in Connolly Park from July 1st to 5th. KERRY GIRLS REACH THE MUNSTER FINAL: The Kerry Junior camogie side made it a successful trip to Waterford where they defeated the fancied home side to reach the Munster Final. Kerry only had 18 players on duty but all put in a great effort which saw them win 1-12 to 0-07. This was a great achievement for the girls especially away from home and they will now play Cork in the final after they overcame Limerick. ST PATS NEWS: There was no winner of the Lotto from the numbers drawn 1,17,22 and 28 and the next jackpot will be e5900 with the draw in Keane’s Bar this Sunday night. The Dingle Way Challenge takes place on June 2nd so please sign on for your chosen route. In the Juvenile Academy the u6’s had enough for two teams and they all put in a great effort. Listry will visit as will some of the senior players. There were over 20 players at the u8 training and they will also take part in the St Brendan’s Board Blitz. Listry will also bring some u10’s who will play a curtain raiser to the senior game. The u10’s were in the Go Games in their Group with Ardfert, Ballyheigue and Chruchill. They trained again on Sunday. The u12’s are preparing for their County League while the u14 Girls had a great win against Ballymac B in Round 3 of the Non County Player County League. The players won’t train this week due to the Community Games and will be back on the 22nd. The u16’s played a cracker against Ballyheigue in the last round of the Central Region going down 5-13 to 5-08. The Seniors went down to Ballydonoghue in the County League Round 3 2-12 to 0-10.The Junior League throws in this Friday at 7.30pm away to Keel. Their next round is at home to Listry on May 26th at 2pm. The clubs Cul Camp will be held from August 5th to 9th and will run from 10am to 2.30pm each day with booking now open. KERINS O’RAHILLYS NEWS: In the Credit Union Co League Division 1 the seniors had a tight 3-13 to 2-15 win over Rathmore. With the game in the balance and the clock ticking down O’Rahillys worked the ball up the field methodically. Jack Savage was fouled 55 metres out and played a short free to Keane who lobbed a high ball into the square. Waiting inside was Tommy Walsh and he knocked it down to Hayes who placed Karl Mullins to score what looked like the winning goal. The B’s were defeated 2-17 to 3-04 in their Division 5A campaign away to Scartaglin. All the goals were scored in the first half with the home side leading 2-08 to 3-02. Friday 17th May 2019
In the u14 Town League Division 2 Final a big crowd was on hand to see the boys take on John Mitchels. And it was the boys ability to hit goals, scoring 5, gave them the win 5-07 to Mitchels 2-11. The u16 made the trip West to Gallarus toi take on An Gaeltacht in their Central Region semi-final. And they boys came back with a 3-14 to 2-07 win to set up the final against Blennerville that was set to be played in mid-week. Training for all the under-age teams is as normal this week. Phase 2 of the u12’s will take place next weekend. There was another great turn-out at the Academy and the Players of the Week were U6 Boys – Colm Horgan, U6 Girls - Dani Moriarty, U8 Girls - Katelyn O’Brien, U8 Boys – Kyle Caper and Shane O’Keeffe, U10 Boys - Barry O’Sullivan and U10 Girls - Rachael Ahern. In the Girls section the Go Games dates for the u8’s and u10’s will be announced shortly. The u12 girls had a busy week drawing with Milltown / Listry and they just got past Dingle 5-05 to 4-06. The u14’s played in the non-county player County League this week.
