Based in Kerry
Keith Malee, Sales Manager with Green Energy Ireland, answers some of the most common questions asked about installing a Solar Energy System
Q; How long do solar panels last?
Q: How many solar panels do I need?
Keith says: "The amount of energy that a homeowner wants to generate will generally determine the number of solar panels needed. There are a number of factors to be considered, such as historic usage, future expectation and available space, to name just three. Ultimately, the easiest and best way to determine how many solar panels you will need, is to consult a professional installer. Experts can help you assess your energy usage, the size of your home, and other factors, to determine the best solar system size for for your needs and your budget."
Keith says: "As with virtually all hardware there is going to be some degradation over time, however the efficiency of a solar panel actually only degrades by about 0.5% per year. What that means, is that even after 20 years the panels still output 80% of their rated power, and they will continue to provide electricity efficiently and effectively for many years. On average, solar panels can last anywhere from 25 to 35 years, the key is to ensure that your installer is using a high end, high quality panel, as some cheaper panels may not be

• Tams( Farmers ) grant up to 60%

• ESB suppliers allow credit for excess electricity usually on average about 50% of unit rate
"Dirty solar panels can definitely reduce their efficiency and output, but all is not lost, far from it. Simply put, the best thing to do is to do nothing and let the rain do the hard work for you. Most solar panel systems involve no

Q: Do I need to install a battery?
Keith says: "In terms of frequently asked questions, this is definitely one of the big ones that we hear every day. And the answer is no, you don't specifically "need" a battery, your Solar PV system will work perfectly effectively without a battery storage system. Solar battery storage allows you to store excess energy generated by your solar panels during the day and use it during times when your panels aren’t producing enough electricity, such as at night, which is a really great idea. But there are a lot of things to be considered before making the decision to install one eg. cost versus benefit (the cost can be significant) and household energy usage patterns to name just two. The best thing to do before making the decision to include a battery in your Solar PV installation is to speak with an expert. Everybody's requirements are different and discussing them with a professional will best position you to make the most informed and educated decision.
Want to see your energy bills going down and your energy savings going up? Make the switch to solar power this summer and make the most of the sunshine!
Now has never been a better time to switch with SEAI grants to help with the costs AND for a limited time only Green Energy Ireland are also offering a 10 Panel Solar PV System installation from €4,950*!

Kerry FC secured a 2-1 victory over Treaty United at Mounthawk Park
Capping off the Bank Holiday weekend. In their last encounter in Tralee, Kerry triumphed in the Munster Senior Cup Semi-Final, while Treaty previously edged a league win with a single goal. Treaty United, currently eighth after a poor run, hoped to revive their form after a recent win against Longford Town. Kerry FC’s Head Coach Conor McCarthy made one change from their previous
Kerry FCmatch, bringing in Ronan Teahan for Daire McCarthy.
The First Half started strong, with Daniel Okwute nearly scoring in the first four minutes. Despite an early injury, Kennedy Amechi scored in the eighth minute, thanks to a slick pass from Ryan Kelliher. Amechi was then replaced by Daire McCarthy due to his injury.
Treaty United almost equalized with a goal-line scramble, but Kerry’s keeper Antonio Tuta managed to secure the ball. Kerry had further chances, including Ethan Kos’s header and Kelliher hitting the post, but couldn’t extend their lead before halftime.
In the Second Half Kerry continued their momentum, scoring their second goal nine minutes after the break. A cross from Ronan Teahan led to an own goal by Treaty’s Evan O’Connor. Kerry pressed on with more chances, but Corey Chambers kept Treaty in the game.
Treaty’s Enda Curran tested Tuta with a sharp shot, but Kerry’s keeper made a crucial save. With fifteen minutes remaining, Treaty gained a lifeline through a penalty, which Curran converted. However, Curran’s red card for an off-the-ball incident soon after diminished their chances.
Kerry FC held firm through seven minutes of added time, securing back-toback home league wins for the first time. They now prepare to face UCD AFC in their next match.
