LEGAL CORNER
The More you tell the more you sell!!!
LEGAL MATTERS CORNER MIRIAM MC GILLICUDDY ANSWERS YOUR LEGAL QUERIES
Denis is arranging a Halloween party for his children and is wondering what are the legalities around fireworks, bonfires etc. and what he should be look out for? Fireworks are exciting items that usually burn, explode, gives off a loud noise and have a visual effect. They are divided in Irish law into four categories 1 to 4 and it is the category 1 that can be legally sold in Ireland. These include Bengal matches Bengal sticks Christmas Crackers Crackling granules Flash pellets Fountains, Ground spinners Hand Held sparklers Novelty Matches, party poppers, serpents snaps, table bombs and throwdowns. These can only be sold to over 12’s and importers should have a license. These fireworks are regarded as posing the least danger, they make very little noise and are usually for use in a limited space. Having said all that, they should not be used without adult supervision as one has to be careful with them. e.g. sparklers can heat up to six times the heat of a hot pan of cooking oil and can get red hot at the burning end. Party poppers have caused eye injuries at close range. In relation to the legal category 1 fireworks the following should be on their packaging: Instructions for use, Minimum safety distance (if appropriate)“For outdoor use only” (if appropriate), Minimum age of person it can be sold to, Name, type of item and category of firework, Name of the manufacturer or importer, The CE mark and the Explosive content. Christmas crackers now if imported from the United Kingdom need to have name, address and trading name details of the importer. Aside from the above all other fireworks ( bangers, roman candles, aerial wheels etc) are illegal in Ireland and can merit large fines/ imprisonment for importation and use. Also the Gardai have considerable powers of Search, seizure and arrest around use of illegal fireworks. In relation to bonfires as burning of household and garden waste is prohibited it would appear that bonfires are illegal. Therefore it may be more appropriate to use the outdoor firepit or chimenea or even have a Halloween barbeque weather permitting. It is a difficult time of year for animals who can get very distressed at the loud noises and it is recommended to Keep the lights low or play a radio or television in the background to drown out some of the noise for your beloved friend from the animal kingdom

KEEP YOUR BUSINESS IN TRALEE AND KEEP TRALEE IN BUSINESS!
Hello everyone!
& welcome back to 'Create with Rebecca', a page where I will be talking ALL things social media! (yaaaaaaay!). This column will be especially helpful for those in business looking to navigate the world of social media for their business. I will be simplifying EVERYTHING as well as giving my top tips. Oh, by the way... I can edit videos, advise you on social media & create a new vibe for your brand! (Aka video editor, social media consultant & graphic designer) - so I know what I'm talking about!
YOU'RE OVERTHINKING YOUR CONTENT. The biggest mistake, and I mean the biggest, that every single business and brand is making is overthinking their content. I've talked about this briefly before, but I'm going to go into it again today. You're welcome. Between Instagram algorithms, shadow banning and people's ever changing interest, that one piece of content that you mull over for 2 weeks and then post a week after your last one, it's not going to help you in any way. It's not going to reach a new audience, nurture your existing one or really do much in terms of general social media presence. Why? Because you've spent two weeks perfecting and overthinking a single piece of content and not posting anything else. Of course, it is absolutely fine to spend some time on content, but make sure that your strive for perfect content isn't hindering your posting frequency. Some people may say quality over quantity, but to be honest... when it comes to social media and posting online, document document document create. What that means is the best content is documenting, I know you think it's boring because it is your business, but other people do not. Then of course it's good to get creative every few posts and have fun with it! Just make sure the documenting doesn't stop in the mean time. Frankly, people see through over produced content online, they want something that they can connect to. Of course, make sure your camera quality is good and that whatever it is your posting is well lit or aesthetic in some way, but it doesn't need to be hollywood esque.
For more information on what I do or if you are interested in any of my social media service: I offer 1:1 consultation calls, video editing, graphic design and more, you can follow @create.socialmedia on instagram or email me: createtralee@gmail.com to book a call!

The Rock Celebrates Juvenile Silverware Sunday
Cups in memory of Martin ‘Bracker Regan, John Galvin, Paddy Drummond, Garry Fernane and Jimmy Barry were presented to captains of various juvenile Rock teams on Sunday last in Connolly Park. These presentations, at the end of five different football tournaments, certainly put a wonderful finish to a brilliant football season that ended on an enjoyable and happy note on a beautiful autumn sunny Sunday morning (24th) i bPáirc Uí Chonghaile. Gaelic matches were won and lost and/but everyone had fun! All the boys who played brilliant football i rith an tséasúir were thanked by mentors, by organisers, by juvenile chairman, Tim McMahon, and by club chairman, Billy Ryle. Tributes were paid to bainisteoirí, coaches, mentors, groundsmen and other helpers for their great dedication and, ní nach ionadh, thanks was given to all parents/guardians/grandparents/cousins/fans for their great support.

Know Your Rights: Burning Household Waste Q. Can I burn household waste in my home or garden? A. It is illegal to burn household or garden waste at home or in your garden. This is an offence under waste management legislation and the Air Pollution Act 1987. If you are convicted, you can be fined up to €3,000 or imprisoned for 12 months. Burning waste is illegal because there can be toxic chemicals in waste items. For example, paper waste can contain synthetic materials and disposable nappies contain gels, bleaches and plastics. Many wood products are treated with toxic chemicals to prevent rot. The by-products of low-temperature, uncontrolled fires can become airborne and then fall on surrounding soil and vegetation contaminating them. It is illegal to burn household or garden waste in any way, including:

● In a barrel or exposed pile in the yard or garden ● On a bonfire ● On an open fire, range or other solid fuel appliance ● In a mini-incinerator Note: Garden incinerators and similar devices are illegal, even if they are attached to a stack or flue. Q. What can I do if my neighbour is burning waste? A. You should talk to your neighbour about the situation and ask them to stop burning their rubbish. If you are unable to resolve the issue with your neighbour directly, you should contact your local authority to help you with this issue. If the issue remains unresolved, you can contact the National Environmental Complaints Line on 1850 365 121. Cara Credit Union supporting inclusivity in Kerry classrooms with dyslexia-friendly books Fifty-five local schools across Tralee, Castleisland, Killorglin, Ballyduff and Causeway will each receive a set of 4 dyslexia-friendly children’s books about Irish wildlife, thanks to Cara Credit Union and author, Shane Casey. Dyslexia affects, on average, 3 children in every class of 24. However, despite a significant increase in the awareness and understanding of the challenges faced, there remains limited resources available for the children themselves.Through the support of Cara Credit Union, one collection of Irish published books, the ‘Nature’s Adventures’ collection, is working to buck this trend. Speaking about the dyslexiafriendly elements of the book’s design and layout, author Shane Casey says, ‘they’re only little changes, but they make a huge difference. We use a combination of special font, colour schemes, and layout to make it easier for children with dyslexia to read. Little things, like avoiding
a double space after a full stop, prevents white lightning on the page. Or left aligning the text instead of justifying it, makes it easier to see where the sentence ends, and is less daunting for a young reader than a block of text’.‘The stories themselves are also important,’ continues Shane, ‘many of the books used by children with dyslexia can be quite juvenile, and so having stories that are age appropriate is key to encouraging children to read more. For some 11- and 12-year-olds, these were the first books they had managed to read in full on their own, and it had given them the confidence to try other books.’Shane is a former Biodiversity Officer, and with three stories in each book, his series helps to engage children with the wildlife on their own doorstep, from hedgehogs and mayflies to song thrushes and salmon. ‘So many children’s books personify wildlife and nature beyond recognition,’ says
Siobhan Donnelly Marketing and Business Development Manager and Pa Laide CEO Cara Credit Union. Shane, ‘and in the midst of a global biodiversity and climate crisis, it’s important to both understand and appreciate the world around us’. Siobhan Donnelly, Marketing & Business Development Manager of Cara Credit Union, continued; “ We are delighted to be in a position to work with Shane and our local primary schools on this initiative. Inclusivity is very much part of the credit union operating principles and we will continue to work with our communities
to ensure we put our members at the heart of everything we do. We would like to thank our members for their support, as without this we would not be in a position to support these worthwhile projects.”The four books sponsored by Cara Credit Union are ‘Nature’s Secret Adventures’, ‘Nature’s Hidden Adventures’, ‘Nature’s Marvellous Adventures’, and ‘Nature’s Incredible Adventures’.

Recovery Haven Kerry welcomes new members to bereavement support group
Cancer support charity, Recovery Haven Kerry, is reaching out to those bereaved by cancer to join their monthly bereavement support group, which begins again this November. Facilitated by counsellor and psychotherapist, Claire Lyons Forde, the free online group meetings offer a safe, supportive and confidential environment to those struggling with the loss of a loved one through cancer. Whether you want to share your own personal story or simply sit and listen to what is being discussed, the group has proven to be a huge source of support and comfort to those dealing with loss. “When a loved one dies, mourning is what we do and what people can see on the outside, but grief is what goes on in the inside. Our experience of grief is individual to each one of us and is as unique as our fingerprint,” course facilitator Claire explained. “At the Recovery Haven’s bereavement support group meetings, people are offered a warm and friendly welcome in a safe and confidential space. They have a choice of sitting quietly and listening to what is being said or taking part in the chat and sharing their story and what they find helpful as they journey through their own grief. “Being in the company of others who understand the pain you are going through is comforting and can help people feel less alone. Bereavement support group meetings allow people to give themselves permission to grieve and just be themselves, knowing that they are fully supported as they do so.” The group meets on the third Thursday of every month, with the next meeting taking place online on November 18thth. Silent screams ushered further from sight. As images full of ancient scripture take flight! Note, the drowning of the faithful. As sinners stained with dark matter their eyes so fearful. Cries that are heard in the winds breath. As Eagles shed no tears for fear of death. Come to arms those with vigor in a sobered stance. As I guide my blade to a silent snigger, no belly of fate left in the dark romance. A cup of blood spills, obliged with screams held to a devil dance. A gut full of laughter, as zombies take delight under a blissful moon ordained by a queen. Her eyes that scream sending cuts to your spleen. Shadows travel in direction out of sight. As vampires, those eyes hidden, take their bite! Implore those of a frightening scene, as enemies who take pleasure in those howls as you scream. All things fester with ease as marrow is taken to a shallow stream. Collapse from the kiss of death as poison on the tongue, What a horrific scene. Cut from the bone, A serving to the night. All howls go with a murmur of all being lost to the fight! As in the pale moon no one is left as a serving to the twilight! Silent screams ushered further from sight! (C) Mark Flanagan

Parkgate Coffee Celebrates 1st Year in Business What a year it’s been for Parkgate Coffee. After gaining a passion for good coffee while living in the Antipodes, Jack returned to Ireland and settled in Kerry He began working on his dream to open a small, takeaway coffee shop and knuckled down to the restoration and renovation work himself with assistance from family and friends. Parkgate Coffee opened its doors at the end of October 2020. Not an auspicious date as the opening happened to coincide with the second
nationwide lockdown. Parkgate sources from as many local and Irish suppliers and producers as it can and offers specialty coffee roasted by Roasted Brown, based in Wicklow. Parkgate stock freshly baked treats from Bacus bakery in Dingle; fresh sandwiches by Kingdom foods in Tralee; farm fresh milk from Ardfert Dairy and Lee Strand. They also offer a selection of other hot and cold drinks, snacks, coffee beans, Keepcups, and brewing equipment for customers to brew at home. Parkgate Coffee is open 7 days a week, and on bank holidays. Their 1st anniversary proved that Parkgate Coffee is a real hit with locals and visitors alike. Lucky customers were able to indulge in a specially commissioned birthday cake and spot prizes, while raising funds for Kerry SPCA. The owner Jack Boyle was thrilled with the weekend
“ We had a great weekend celebrating our first birthday here at Parkgate Coffee. We received so many kind wishes, gave away some prizes and raised much needed funds for the Kerry SPCA in the process. The support from our customers over the last year has been incredible and we
look forward to serving them their coffee for many years to come”

Tralee Rowing Club win at the National Heritage Awards Tralee Rowing Club took the County Award for Kerry at the National Heritage Awards 2021. The Rowing Club’s winning project featured an online presentation and an outdoor display mounted at the Tralee Ship Canal Marina during Heritage Week in August subtitled. ‘What Lies Beneath’. An Ecological Investigation of the Tralee Ship Canal was undertaken by local ecologist, Dr Noel Mulligan working with Aquafact International
Heidi Giles ( Club Captain ) Dr Noel Mulligan , Billy Giles , Evie Giles, Tania Lawlor, Paul Cusack, Celine Cusack
Services. The Rowing Club wondered what type of wildlife shared the canal with its members as they rowed along its surface. Its curiosity was prompted by the discovery by Dr Mulligan of a large population of Australian Tubeworm. It was a case of finding out what else lay beneath the surface of the canal water. The investigation revealed some very interesting findings. Dr Mulligan said ‘I had first noticed what turned out to be an unusual invasive alien species, the Australian Tubeworm. My investigation uncovered a community of organisms living along the length of the canal’. The Rowing Club community comprising about 100 members was able to attract Local Authorities Water Programme funding to engage Aquafact to undertake the study. ‘The Rowing Club were very supportive in the study of the ecology of the canal . The investigation provides a valuable baseline against which the ecology of the canal can be monitored into the future. ‘We discovered
Dr Noel Mulligan and that the canal is a brackish water habitat (a mixture of freshwater and seawater) that supports an interesting collection of species. Alongside the Australian Tubeworm is the New Zealand Mud Snail and 20+ other species but the canal basin itself is dominated by the tubeworm. It will be very interesting to see if the upcoming draining of the canal for three months
Tania Lawlor ( TRC ) will eliminate the unwanted invasive alien tubeworm. Dr Mulligan said . Heidi Giles , TRC Club Captain said ‘We in the Rowing Club know that we have a unique amenity here that we share with the people of Tralee and with visitors. We await eagerly the refilling of the canal so that our members can get back on the water again in the New Year.’
So whats the latest on my bike refurbishment with Atom Mobile Bike Service? Good news , Adam from Atom Mobile Bicycle Service has come back to me with his report on my ageing Carrera Mountain Bike which he collected a few weeks ago. ' Its not too bad' he says ...Yes of course I will have to spend a little but it is not for the Skip just yet ! Adam mentioned corrosion and rust issues (well it has been laid up in a shed for quite a while!) possible chain replacement along with testing all the gear and brake cables ...
Friday 29th October 2021
Hes not sure about the tyres yet but I get the feeling that if the Guys at Atom can refurb, recycle or repair any bike, they'll do it... It seems they pride themselves on keeping old bikes on the road even more than seeing shiny new ones! So we wait for the final result in eager anticipation ..Again ..watch this space! T RQ U I N G CINA R SAND ! KEEP TRALEE IN BUSINESS! 24 O PREMIUM ADVERTISING KEEP YOUR BUSINESS TRALEE SEATS EV CUPRA BORN DUE EARLY NEXT YEAR !
Cupra’s new electric car, the Born, arrives here around next March. Exact pricing has yet to be finalised, but we’re told it will start from under €39,000, excluding grants and delivery charges. It is the brand’s first 100pc electric model. There will be three versions/outputs: a 45kWh, 150PS with a claimed range of 350km; a 58kWh, 204PS with 424km of range; and a 77kWh, 231PS with up to 540km. The last includes an e-Boost performance pack that pushes power to 231PS and manages a 0 to 100kmh time of 6.6 seconds. The Born paves the way for Tavascan in 2024, which in turn will be followed by an electric urban car in 2025. The new car is powered trough the rear wheels and is built on the Volkswagen Group’s modular MEB platform. It extends to 4,322mm in length, is 1,809mm wide and 1,540mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2,767mm and a 385-litre boot capacity.
RANGE ROVER FLAGSHIP SUV, DUE IN 2022
Range Rover is making a lot of noise about its ultra-quiet new SUV flagship, which goes on sale later in 2022. Irish prices have not yet been disclosed. It is also telling anyone who will listen that the latest model sets new technological standards across the board, from power sources to intuitive interactivity and, of course, the height of luxury. The Range Rover is traditionally a benchmark for super-car refinement and performance and the maker has pulled out all the stops to be number one again at a time of intense competition.Despite a staggering array of tech and powerful engines, one thing is missing – yes, an electric version. All is not lost, however, as one is planned for 2024. Meanwhile, there are plug-in hybrids as well as mild-hybrid petrols and diesels. There is a choice of plug-ins: the P440e and P510e. There is also the latest mild-hybrid (MHEV) P360 as well as the P400 Ingenium petrol and D250, D300 and D350 diesel engines. The 510PS and 440PS plug-ins have a claimed pure-EV range of up to 100km and sub-30gkm emissions. A new petrol flagship, the P530 Twin Turbo V8 (0100kmh in 4.6 seconds), also joins the range. This fifth generation of the SUV has standard and long wheelbase body styles with four, five or seven-seat interiors. There will be SE, HSE and Autobiography spec as well as a First Edition.Amazon’s Alexa is coming along for the ride too in what Range Rover says is a major effort to reduce distractions by recognising verbal commands for music, navigation etc. Alexa works in addition to wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.As I said, there is a huge emphasis on quietness in the cabin. Speaker technology uses the 1,600W Meridian Signature sound system to create an ultra-quiet space. There are additional 20W speakers in the four main headrests. The new car is the first Land Rover to have power-assisted doors with integrated hazard detection and anti-pinch safety elements. Five-seat models debut a new auto-folding loadspace cover. There is a new rear-seat entertainment (RSE) system with adjustable 11.4in HD touchscreens in the rear of the front seatbacks.(Eddie Cunningham , Indo Motoring)
AT LAST! YOUR CAR IS ACTUALLY GOING UP IN VALUE!
Your car is worth 16pc more than it was this time last year, a new report reveals. The phenomenal increase is due to a ‘perfect storm’ in the marketplace, experts say.The winners are motorists who are planning on trading in their second-hand vehicle for a new car.At play are a combination of factors. They include: The ongoing fallout from Brexit, which has restricted supply of used imports from the UK quite heavily. The global shortage of microchips on which new cars’ electronic systems and elements depend so much. This is delaying or curtailing production of new cars and, consequently, holding up cars being traded in against them.New real-world testing of new cars (WLTP) has tightened supply due to lack of model variety.General lack of supply of good used cars as people hold on to their vehicles while waiting for a new one.Years of low volume buying of new cars means fewer second-hands on the market. All of this has led to scarcity on a major scale and an unprecedented increase in used-car values across the board. Some of those sampled for comparison dated back as far as 2003Instead of depreciating, as is usual with the vast majority of cars, most vehicles have increased in price, according to findings from vehicle data expert Cartell.ie and car sales platform Carsireland.ie Jeff Aherne of Cartell.ie said that since his company’s database was set up in 2006, they “have not seen anything like this before”.He added: “Lead-in times for delivery of new vehicles have extended, principally due to the microchip shortage, and until supply ramps up again we don’t see this situation improving in the near-term.“Those who benefit most are the owners of used vehicles, which have seen a spike in values, who are looking and can afford to wait for a new vehicle.” The resulting increase in prices is based on a sample of 5,000 vehicles. The potential winners in all of this are buyers who are trading in against a brand new car.Their cost of changing to new may be notably less than usual as they get more for their trade-in. TALKING SPORT WITH THE TRALEE ADVERTISER Boards Leagues u13 Division 3 between the clubs C team and Kerins O’Rahillys A turned out to be a cracker. The final took place under lights in the Nuns’ Field in Connolly Park where a big crowd of parents had gathered to cheer on both sides. Rahillys took the narrowest of wins 4-06 to 3-08.
with “The Voice” Pat Harnett
FAI NATIONAl P.R.O. OF THE YEAR DO PLAYERS PLAY TO GET MANAGERS SACKED? Even the most ardent Man United fan deep down probably felt that Liverpool would get the better of them last weekend. What they couldn’t have expected was the manner of the defeat and the 5-0 score-line. United were poor all over the pitch and looked disorganised with questions being asked of the coaching, the game plan and how the team was and is being prepared for games. Liverpool played as a team and United were a team of individuals. And as often happens after big defeats questions are asked as to whether the players are ”looking” to get the manager sacked or if he /she has “lost the dressing room”. Do players actually consciously or unconsciously go out on the field with that mind-set? At the other extreme do players put in an extra effort if they feel a manager they “like” is in danger? This seems to only a professional club issue or occasionally it comes up at international level. On one hand it is hard to think that professional players would go out with that mind-set but then how do we explain the new manager bounce? Take my own club Nottingham Forest for example. Ex Irish international Chris Houghton was in charge at the start of the season and we lost six games in seven. He got fired and Steve Cooper came in and we are now on five wins and two draws from 14!! So the new manager bounce has certainly worked for Forest. Looking at other big games over the last few days and we have seen two of our international Ladies teams putting in huge efforts and getting their deserved success. The Irish Ladies hockey team won their qualifying tournament and are heading to the World Cup. The Irish soccer side, with Kerry’s Savannah McCarthy starring, won away in Finland to put themselves right on track for a World Cup play-off – which would be the biggest game in women’s soccer in the countries history. So back to United with the question being how will they respond over the next two or three games, will things change on the coaching or will there be a new manager in the United hot-seat by December? ROAD TO BISHOP MOYNIHAN GLORY BEGINS: GAA fans attention was on Croke Park last weekend where motions to reorganise the Championship were defeated. This weekend Kerry GAA fans attention will be on on-field issues with the first round of the Garvey’s Senior Football Championship which sees 16 teams taking to the pitch with no second chances in this knock out format. From our point of view we will be cheering for Kerins O’Rahillys who take on St Kierans at 5pm on Saturday in Austin Stack Park and Austin Stacks who tackle the three-in-a-row chasing Friday 29th October 2021
East Kerry. The other games are Mid Kerry versus East Kerry, Spa taking on Killarney Legion, Feale Rangers up against South Kerry, Templenoe facing Shannon Rangers and West Kerry against Dr Crokes. Also of interest, especially from a Killarney point of view, is the fact that if Dr Croke or the Legion don’t win the Bishop Moynihan Cup the two sides will face off in a relegation play-off. Star in line to break record: On the Stacks game, the stats people have been busy and they have discovered that Kieran Donaghy, should he play, will surpass Ger O’Keeffe’s 30 year old record of 59 senior football championship appearances. Donaghy has already played 59 games so an appearance will set a new record in Kerry and cement his place in the Rockies history books. PAIRINGS KNOWN: The draw for the Lee Strand Senior District Championship for the combined clubs of the Tralee and St Brendan's boards took place. This competition is kindly sponsored by Lee Strand. The draw sees St Pats versus Ardfert, Austin Stacks against Churchill, Na Gaeil facing Ballymac and its Kerins O’Rahillys taking on John Mitchels. The times and dates of the games are to be confirmed. PARNELLS NEWS: The club AGM will take place on Sunday November 14th from 4 to 6pm in the sports hall at the Tralee Sports & Leisure Centre. Notice of motions and nominations must be received by the Secretary no later than Sunday October 31st. The club is hoping that members volunteer for all positions on the Executive Committee. The club is encouraging the u11 and u13 players to meet on Saturday mornings from 9.15am to 10am at the Astro pitch of the MTU Sports Academy for some social hurling where the games will be supervised. There was more history for the club when they played their first ever match in the North Kerry u21 Championship with Ballyduff the visitors for a game under lights. Parnells won 1-14 to 2-09 and next up is a semi-final game against Ballyheigue. AUSTIN STACKS JUVENILE NEWS: There was a great turn-out for the final morning of the u7’s who really enjoyed a great season of work. The club thanks all the dedicated coaches and the parents for their cooperation over the last few months. The club looks forward to seeing everyone back for the indoor season in January. There was great competition for the Bracker Regan, Paddy Drummond, Jimmy Barry and the Gary Fernane Cups and the John Galvin Trophy and well done to all the teams and managers and congratulations to all the winners. The final of the Timberland Kitchens and Flooring (Tralee) Tralee and St Brendan’s
RAHILLYS NOTES The club was delighted with the win in the game mentioned above. Five girls from the club were on duty with the Mounthawk Schools senior ladies who defeated Dingle in the Munster schools competition. The u16’s put up a good show before going down to Abbeydorney 3-08 to610 in the North Kerry League Division 1. There was no winner of the Lotto from the number drawn 1,16,19 and 29 with the next jackpot being e2300. COLLEGE UPDATES: Well done to the Tralee CBS who are celebrating their winning of the Dr Eamonn O’Sullivan Cup defeating Colaiste na Sceilge 1-16 to 2-08. Gaelcholaiste Chiarrai won the Moynihan Cup seeing off St Pats, Castleisland in a cracker that saw the Tralee college only pull away late on to win 0-15 to 0-11. Gaelcholaiste Chiarrai u15’s were unlucky to go down to Inbhear Sceine Kenmare as were the Mercy Mounthawk u15 boys who went down to St Michael’s Listowel. The Green’s u15’s defeated the Sem in the semi-final of the Brother Taft 5-11 to 3-11. 3PEAT FOR WARRIORS IN SUPERLEAGUE While it is still early in the InsureMyVan. ie Men’s SuperLeague Garvey’s Tralee Warriors remain unbeaten with their latest win seeing them overcome C&S Neptune 88-78. This win came in a game that went down to the final quarter where a huge three pointer from Fergal O’Sullivan with three minutes remaining finally swung the game in the Warriors favour. Once again the young players such as Keelan Crowe and Stephen Bowler impressed alongside the big stars Aaron Calixte and Nikola Roso. The Warriors led 24-23 at the end of the first quarter and by just two at the half 42-40. After three quarter there was still just the minimum between them with Neptune leading 66-65 but in the fourth the home side finished strongly. Calixte and Roso scored but Neptune still wouldn’t go away. That was until Calixte won a rebound and fired a super pass to O’Sullivan who drained the three pointer. Neptune tired and Roso made them pay hitting seven from eight from the free throw line to send the Garvey’s Tralee Warriors into Sunday’s huge Cup game. Also unbeaten are promoted side Tradehouse Central Ballincollig and they come to the Complex on Sunday for a 2pm tip-off in round one of the InsureMyHouse.ie Pat Duffy National Cup. They will again be looking to Aaron Calixte who hit 30 against Neptune, Nikola Roso 22 and Daniel Jokubaitis but will also need big games from the full squad. WINTER SWIMS GET OFF TO A GREAT START: The Tralee Bay Swimming Clubs Turkey Series of Winter swims got off to a great start with 72 hardy souls taking to the water in Fenit. Round 2 takes place this Sunday morning at 11am and

Halloween costumes are encouraged!! Everyone is welcome and the regulars will be delighted to give advice to any newcomers. You don’t even have to swim – just dip your toes in the water and of course don’t forget the e2 for the draw for some lovely pre- Christmas treats. And for this Sunday only there is an extra Christmas Raffle for the best costume! TRALEE GIRLS ON TAG RUGBY DUTY: The Tralee Rugby Club was delighted to see Shone and Ayesha Roche starring with the Ireland & England side who played in the British & Irish Tag Cup at the weekend in UL. Both girls learned their rugby in Tralee. NATIONAL HERITAGE WEEK AWARD FOR ROWING CLUB: Congratulations to all involved with the Tralee Rowing Club who took the County Award at the National Heritage Awards. The clubs presentation was called ‘What Lies Beneath’ and is a fascinating ecological survey of Australian tubeworms in the Tralee Ship Canal. This interesting project was instigated and managed by local Marine Biologist Dr Noel Mulligan together with funding from the Local Authorities Waters Programme (LAWPRO) and was undertaken together by Aquafact International Services. ON THE GREENS – GOLF: ALAN’S TEAM TAKE VICTORY IN THE PARK’S GC: With the much anticipated work already underway to transform Christy Leahy Park, the home of St Brendan’s Park FC, one of the clubs big fundraisers, alongside their weekly Lotto, took place at the Tralee Golf Club last weekend. The club was delighted with the turnout and thanked all those involved in making the event such a big success as a fundraiser for their new Astro. The results of the golf classic saw Alan Carey’s team from Croon take the victory on 95 points followed by Mick McGrath’s (Select Integrated) team on 93 points and Ger Teahan’s (Sales Sense) team on 90.Barry Murphy’s AIB Team was fourth on 90 points. The prize for Nearest the Pin (on the 16th) went to Darragh Carmody, the Longest Drive (on the 9th) was hit by Eoin Lynch with the raffle for a four ball at the Tralee GC being won by Wayne Guthrie. PITCH & PUTT SEASON REACHES ITS 18TH HOLE: The 2021 Pitch and Putt season came to an end last Sunday with the Men’s County Matchplay Championships held in Castleisland. Deerpark’s Damien Fleming retained the title he won in August 2019 – the last holding of the event. Fleming defeated Tralee’s Jason Cregan in the semi-finals and beat the host clubs Aidan O’Connor in the final. Tralee players lost out in the Intermediate semi- finals as Keith O’ Brien was beaten by the eventual winner Gearoid Cronin from Deerpark while runner up Chris Curran, Listowel, beat Roger Guthrie in the other last four match. Darragh McCarthy won the all Castleisland Junior final. The season saw a number of Kerry player excel on the national front including Tralee’s Ella Moynihan who was crowned the National u16 Girls Matchplay Champion.

Three on the bounce for Warriors as they see off Neptune
Garvey’s Tralee Warriors made it three from three as they saw off the challenge of C&S Neptune at the Tralee Sports Complex on Saturday night. In a game that ebbed and flowed for the first three quarters with little between the sides throughout it was a trademark three pointer from Fergal O’Sullivan with three minutes to go that put the Warriors into a game winning position. Next up for the Garvey’s Tralee Warriors is the eagerly awaited InsureMyHouse.ie Pat Duffy National Cup clash with Tradehouse Central Ballincollig at the Tralee Sports Complex on Sunday next, 31st October, with a 2.00pm tip off. LAUGHTER ....THE BEST MEDICINE !
A MAN WALKS INTO A BAR
A man walks into a bar and orders six whiskies. He lines them up in a row and knocks back the first, third, and fifth glasses. Then he gets up to leave. “ Don’t you want the others?” asks the barman.”You’ve only had three of your whiskies.” “Best not” replies the man, “My doctor said it was only okay to have the odd drink.”
MY EX MADE THIS FACEBOOK STATUS ABOUT HOW SHE FEELS LIKE SOMEONE IS WATCHING HER... ...but I’ve been following her around all week and I can guarantee no one is stalking her.
A GUY TOOK HIS BLONDE GIRLFRIEND TO HER FIRST FOOTBALL GAME...
After the game, he asked her if she liked it. She replied, “it was fun but I don’t see why they made such a big fuss over 25 cents.” The guy asked, “What do you mean?” And she said, “Well, at the beginning of the game, they flipped a coin and someone took it, and for the rest of the game, they kept shouting ‘Get the quarter back! Get the quarter back!’”
DONALD TRUMP IS BOARDING AIR FORCE ONE
When all of a sudden, an assassin jumps out and points the gun at Trump. A member of the secret service sees this and yells, “Mickey Mouse!” This startles the would-be assassin so much that it gives the other agents time to apprehend him. While the agents interrogate the assassin, Donald Trump pulls the agent aside and says, “ Why did you yell Mickey Mouse when you saw the assassin?” The agent says, “Well, I got nervous and meant to say Donald Duck.”
A MAGICIAN WAS WORKING ON A CRUISE SHIP IN THE CARIBBEAN. THE AUDIENCE WOULD BE DIFFERENT EACH WEEK, SO THE MAGICIAN ALLOWED HIMSELF TO DO THE SAME TRICKS OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
There was only one problem, the captain’s parrot saw the shows every week and began to understand what the magician did in every trick. Once he understood that, he started shouting in the middle of the show: “Look, it’s not the same hat!” “Look, he’s hiding the flowers under the table!” “Hey, why are all the cards the Ace of Spades ?” The magician was furious but couldn’t do anything; it was the captain’s parrot, after all. One day the ship had an accident and sunk. The magician found himself on a piece of wood in the middle of the ocean, and of course the parrot was by his side. They stared at each other with hate, but did not utter a word. This went on for several days. After a week the parrot finally said: “Okay, I give up. What’d you do with the boat?”
I STARTED DATING THIS BLONDE CHICK LAST NIGHT. “Do you have any kids?” she asked. “Yes,” I replied.
“I have one child that’s just under two.” She said, “I might be blonde, but I know how many one is.”
