KEEP YOUR BUSINESS IN TRALEE AND KEEP TRALEE IN BUSINESS!
Meet Norma, Kerrys TD in the new Government and Minister for Education! Norma Foley, Fianna Fail TD for Kerry, was last Saturday evening appointed by Taoiseach Micheál Martin as the new Minister for Education and subsequently received her seal of office from Uachtarán na hÉireann, Michael D. Higgins at Dublin Castle. Minister Foley said on her appointment: “It is a tremendous honour and privilege to become the first female Senior Minister from Kerry following my appointment as Minister for Education last weekend at Government buildings in Dublin and to secure a Cabinet position for The Kingdom. “I am looking forward to getting on with the work of the new Government immediately and meeting the challenges we face in this sector with a positive and proactive approach on all matters.
She added that one of the particular challenges facing her in the new role is the reopening of schools as we journey through the current Covid-19 pandemic. “I’m very keen that would happen. But I’m very keen that would happen as a consequence of engagement with all stakeholders and also acting on the very best public health advice available to us”, she said. Ms Foley, a teacher until recently in Presentation Secondary School Tralee said she “values the expertise, talent and input of all the stakeholders in education and as Minister said her goal will be to work in a collaborative spirit of engagement. Finally, she wished to place on record her gratitude to all who have taken the time to contact her through phone, email and
social media in the past week wishing her all the best in the new position: “Sincere thanks to all those who have sent lovely messages of support across all the various platforms in recent days, I’ve been overwhelmed by the wave of
support and really appreciate it. I acknowledge the huge responsibility bestowed upon me but assure the people of Kerry that I will do my absolute best for our County and indeed our Country.
Cllr Terry O’brien Elected Mayor Of Tralee
Cllr Terry O’Brien has been elected Mayor of Tralee today at the annual meeting of the Tralee Municipal District. It is the Labour councillor’s fifth term as Mayor of Tralee and he takes up the chain of office from Cllr Jim Finucane (Fine Gael) who was mayor over the past year. Cllr O’Brien, who was first elected to Kerry County Council in 2004, said that during his term as mayor, he would focus on investment in Tralee town centre and helping Tralee and the wider Municipal District to recover from the impact of the coronavirus. He said he looked forward to progress on a number of projects including the development of the former Denny factory site, the Tralee-Fenit Greenway, the next phase of improvements in Tralee town centre and other projects and amenities of benefit to the community. Cllr Jim Finucane was elected Deputy Mayor.

Halotherapy rebrands as Stas’ Salt Spa
With almost 7 years of helping Kerry breathe and feel better through a relaxing spa experience, we have reopened as Stas’ Salt Spa! We want to share our story and express our utmost gratitude for the town’s continued support over the years. Having suffered from breathing, skin and immune-system related illnesses, our family went to Russia to try the traditional salt rooms, where such treatment is commonplace. After seeing first-hand how they operate, we decided to bring the benefits back home, where we could hopefully help others too. We want to reduce families’ reliance on expensive medicines and antibiotics by providing a good value, drug-free alternative. We use a modern Halogenerator machine and pharmaceutical grade Dead Sea salt in our rooms, providing a relaxing experience that helps de-stress and feel better both physically and mentally We are looking forward to hearing from our wonderful customers again, . Best wishes from our family, - Stas.

Tyre Depot invest in keeping you safe on the road
Since opening a little over a year ago, the Tyre Depot in Boyles Business Park, Clash ( next to Kellihers Mills ) has gone from strength to strength., and has built up quite a strong customer base . Its in no small way due to the foresight and hard work of owner Aidan O Connor and his team . “We currently stock over 500 tyres and thats all the top brands, Pirelli, Hankook , Continental etc as well as the top budget brands such as Davanti, Landsail etc... so we have something for all budgets and all types of vehicles “ says Aidan. Another unique feature of Tyre Depot is the fact that
they are open 6 days a week , Mon to Sat... Aidan added Kerrys newest 4 Wheel 3D Wheel Alignment system by John Bean immediately when he opened and his customers are seeing the benefits with their vehicles.
And recently he has made another significant capital investment in the latest tyre technology , namely the latest John Bean tyre changer which can accomodate all types of tyres including low profiles and runflats and will safeguard against any damage to the (expensive ) alloy wheels most cars have nowadays . Also the latest John Bean Computerised wheel balancer with Pinpoint
laser . “This gives a ‘truer balance says Aidan and also means the unsightly wheel weights are now hidden from plain sight !
We have also invested in the latest technology that allows us to repair or replace systems for cars that have faulty Tyre Pressure Monitors .It allows us to ensure our customers cars pass the NCT and keeps them away from costly Main Dealer bills “ says Aidan ...So it keeps our customers happy , very happy ! Watch out for Tyre Depots adverts every week in the Tralee Advertiser .
Raising funds for the children in Yemen
Fidelma Fitzgerald and Anna o Shea will be doing a 12-hour prayer and food sacrifice on Friday the 10th of July in aid of the Children Crisis in Yemen. This is a cause worth while like all other causes. Anna o Shea will be based at St John’s Church Tralee & . Fidelma Fitzgerald will be based at the Dominicans Tralee. . Says Fidelma “The fast will begin at 8am. 8.30 mass will start off our prayer and throughout the day in silence offering hope for all. The day will draw to a close with evening mass. All proceeds will be counted and banked on Monday morning in the hope to make a difference. Michael Jackson has left a legacy that many opinionated about, however I can’t nor won’t judge. I don’t have that luxury. We can however remember his words. “WHO ARE WE TO BE BLIND, PRETENDING NOT TO SEE THEIR NEEDS”. Anna & Fidelma thank you in advance for your thoughts and support .

FITNESS!
Get your business noticed in Tralee’s favourite Friday read
Hello my strong friends I hope you are all well!
Last week I talked about what I did with regards to fitness and working out during lockdown, this week… I’m going to talk about my first day back in the actual gym, which was today. So as you all probably know, I go to The Arena Gym in Tralee, it’s hands down one of the best gyms I have been to! The vibe in there is ALWAYS high and all the guys and gals working there bring the best energy to the place. Today I went back to the gym for the first time since March, walking into The Arena, I felt like I had never left. The vibe was the same, the music was pumping and I was met by the same friendly faces as before (just behind masks this time). I sanitised my hands, and read the guidelines that were on the desk. I had a 1:1 PT session with Brendan. Brendan sanitized everything but before and after I used it, spraying down the machines, weights, and plates before and after each use. We maintained a social distance and got on with the training session. At not one point did I feel nervous or uncomfortable in the gym, there was 4 other people in there between PT’s and clients, and of course we were all spread out. All the PT’s wore masks the whole time. I felt much safer in there than I did in a grocery or retail store.
Rebecca
Friday 3rd July 2020
It was so so obvious all of the guys at The Arena had been well informed on protocols for maintaining a safe, enjoyable enviornment. I was majorly impressed. As for the workout, IT FELT SO GOOD. I loved being back in a gym setting, and I will most definitely struggle to move tomorrow - and that’s how I like it! I think as everything gets back to this ‘new normal’ we must remember that most gyms in Tralee are locally owned small businesses as opposed to chains. These gyms are a fantastic asset to the town and it would be sad to see any of them struggle when they are going above and beyond to ensure their members feel safe.
As for my experience, The Tralee Arena is just such a good fit and I can guarantee you will feel safe there. I will be doing a competition over on my Instagram @rebeccashortt with The Tralee Arena in the next few days so be sure to check that out!
As I always say, every gym is different and there is a gym for everyone. It’s so great to have such variety and choice in Tralee!

Beauty
HELLO BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE I hope you’re all having an amazing week. This week I’m going to talk about my current shower routine, and all the haircare and bodycare products I am using. I only wash my hair once per week because especially with lockdown, my hair doesn’t need any more than that. SHAMPOO - Briogeo Scalp Revival: My scalp got so so dry during lockdown. It was constantly a little flaky and I did a little research and I decided to try the brand Briogeo. I chose them because it had amazing reviews, is 95% naturally derived and 6-free hair care. No Harsh Sulfates, No Silicones, No Phthalates, No Parabens, No DEA & No Artificial Dyes.It is also vegan and cruelty free! This has sorted my scalp right out! I love it.
SAND AND SKY BODY SAND: A new addition to my shower routine, I wanted a body scrub for a while now, but I wanted one that was actually good for my skin. Sand & Sky actually sent me out this one to try as it is new and I have a good relationship with them. It is suitable for all skin types and free from any nasty ingredients!
CONDITIONER - Bumble & Bumble Creme de Coco: I’ve been using this conditioner for a few months now, not only is it lasting ages but I adore the smell. It makes my hair feel super soft and shiny.
SOL DE JANEIRO BRAZILIAN 4 PLAY MOISTURISING SHOWER CREAM GEL: I love love love this bodywash. It smells phenomenal and leaves my skin feeling super soft. It is a bit more pricey but after going from using it back to my cheaper alternative, I can definitely justify it.
Throughout quarantine i have been uploading a lot of content online, if you wanna keep up with me more you can find me on many parts of the internet.

HEALTHY RECIPES for 2020
No Recipe this week from Noel... But he has something very important to say ! Hello folks , So each week I get sent a little reminder for the recipes from the team at The Tralee Advertiser and sometimes I reply very fast ,othertimes I need to get a second or even third nudge from the good people here..God Bless their patience and really, they must get flabbergasted at times with me,!. But I’ve been thinking about what recipe to do this week and I rarely stray off doing them bar perhaps Christmas time when I talk about planning and organising !But this time i will! It has been a really tough time for people. I think nothing brings us together better than food .It is the conduit to so many of our celebrations, both happy and sad! Well the laces we usually go to sometimes without... though whether it is for lunch or dinner or a passing coffee and chat that we have sorely missed until now. For a lot of small business owners the close down caught them right before a busy time , some lost stock, some won’t reopen from this, a lot will ,but
Friday 3rd July 2020
for some even reopening is a challenge and can only last if all of us support our local restaurants coffee shops cafes pubs and hotels , our small shops and retailers, Each is facing their own challenges to reopen and get going again .So be nice to them! God i know they are like myself giving it everything they have.We are spending hours and i mean hours, on courses and learning the best ways to run a business under new guidelines and given precious little time to sort it out. Some have opted to stay closed and give themselves more time... some can’t .We have changed everything we can to make it safer and still try to retain what it is we do because that’s us! .. Thats our makeup! So i guess I’m asking all of ye out there to buy a coffee from a local coffee shop , your lunch from a locally owned cafe or pub or hotel... go for lunch or dinner in a locally owned restaurant ...forget the chains for now, buy from local shops .If you want a burger we have great locally owned takeaways that do handsome stuff, our restaurants match anything anywhere around us, our hotels are top class we
have it all in Tralee, we just need to make sure it is all still here this time next year! So folks go out enjoy yourselves and keep it local , very local! We want to celebrate your birthdays and specials occasions next year with ye too ! Never have the words ‘Shop Local, Stay Local’ meant so much!

Lovely words about someones recent visit to Dan Fitzgeralds on the Mall in Tralee! I would just like to thank the sales assistant in Dan
Fitzgerald who dealt with us this morning for a uniform fitting for my two little girls . I didn’t get her name but she was such a lovely lady .. nothing was too much trouble. My daughter has sensory processing disorder along with additional needs and the time and effort she put in to ensure that every piece was comfortable on her was outstanding. . She made her feel so at ease and kept her concentration through the whole fitting and most importantly she made sure that my daughter would be comfortable and confident going back to school and I cannot thank you enough for your patience , kindness and understanding

PREMIUM ADVERTISING 19 The More you tell the more you sell!!! DAMIEN MCCARTHY HR Consultant (Assoc. CIPD) T: 086-1936752
Damien from Killarney HR & Payroll answers the most common concerns that employers may have in re-opening their business and employees returning to work 1. Can a new employee be placed on the Wage subsidy scheme, if they were previously on another employer’s payroll earlier in the year? NO, they needed to be on your payroll previous to Covid-19 2. Can seasonal workers be placed on the employers wage subsidy scheme? NO, the circumstance as question 1 applies. 3. When an existing employee returns to work can the employer keep them on the wage subsidy scheme? Yes, provided the employer meets guidelines and is/has been accepted on to the TWSS. 4. Can an employer change the terms and conditions of an employment contract such as hours, start times, rate of pay? Yes, but the employee must agree to this. 5. If a business does not reopen, what is the alternative for employees? Redundancy 6. Is an employer responsible for paying employees when they are off work sick? No, however this depends on what is in the employment contract under sick pay conditions. All contracts should be reviewed. 7. What if there is no employment contract? Get one now as it is illegal to not have provided one and lack of written terms and conditions surrounding temporary lay-off, short time and redundancies will be tested by law. 8. Can an employer refuse annual leave requests? Yes, high annual leave requests may be an issue in late summer this year. Employers need a clear & consistent annual leave policy that is transparent & fair. 9. Can an employee simply refuse to return to work because they feel it is unsafe to do so? No, once the employer is adhering to the return to work protocols and all answers on the return to work form are No. 10. Employer qualified for the TWSS as turnover fell by 25% in Q2. In Q3, turnover will recover so the 25% test will not be fulfilled. Can I continue to claim the TWSS in Q3 (July & Aug)? Yes, the eligibility criteria turnover test is remaining the same i.e. a 25% drop between 14 March and 30 June.
Employers , here are a few things to watch out for as you Re-open your business • Where Employers offer a return to employment to employees and it is then refused by the employee – Documentation accounting for this should be kept. • Returning Mothers – Maternity leave expirations - usual law applies, can now avail of TWSS • Bank holiday accruals – backdating costs for temporarily laid off staff • Staff refusals towards protocols and attending training – Ensure employment contracts are in Place and that reference to training obligations and health & safety responsibilities are included. • Redundancy – law has not changed but employee applications process is on emergency hold. • Wage subsidy cannot be used during redundancy consultation process. • Real-time information in line with Business strategy – payroll costs, overheads, outgoin cash Flow and the adaptation of HR policy to allow for swift responses from the Business and its people in circumstances that will frequently change. • Home working – time deadlines, policies developed or corrected, legal compliance assurance, expenses etc.

A MAGICIAN GETS HIMSELF A PARROT FOR HIS ACT
After a couple weeks of performing with the magician the parrot begins to heckle the magician during his shows. “it’s under his hat, it’s up his sleeve, his assistant has it.” The magician is performing on a cruise ship when the ship sinks. The magician wakes up on a piece of driftwood with the parrot standing on the opposite end. The parrot and the magician spend 2 days floating at sea without saying a word. Finally the parrot says, “Alright, I give up. Where’s the boat?”

So he hired the best attorney he could find. A few days into the case, the attorney calls the art collector on the phone. He says, “Saul, I’ve got some good news and some bad news.” The art collector replied, “I’ve had an awful day; let’s hear the good news first.”

The attorney said, “Well, I met with your wife today, and she informed me that she invested $5,000 in two pictures that she thinks will bring a minimum of $15-20 million. I think she could be right.” Saul replied enthusiastically, “Well done! My wife is a brilliant businesswoman! You’ve just made my day. Now I know I can handle the bad news. What is it?” The attorney replied, “The pictures are of you with your secretary.”

T RQU ING CARS! 22 O PREMIUM ADVERTISING MOTORING CHATTER
Tyre maker Bridgestone and software giant Microsoft have combined to develop an ingenious device that detects tyre damage early. As such it could significantly reduce the risk of an accident or a dangerous blow-out.It is called the Tyre Damage Monitoring System (TDMS).It can detect when a tyre has been damaged - by contact with a pothole or kerb for example. The latter misfortune befell me in the spring and I wasn’t aware of it for 200 metres. If TDMS was on board it would immediately have notified me.Anyway, the system uses data from Microsoft’s connected vehicle platform (MCVP) cloud framework. It also uses sensors that would have already been fitted to your car.The clever thing is that the system uses algorithms to detect irregularities on the tyre surface.I can see this being a life - and money - saver as it alerts so early in the process and doesn’t require visual inspection to detect faults.Who says tyres are boring?
AUDI’S Q5
has been updated, upgraded and revised and is due to go on sale later in the year. The popular mid-size SUV gets sharper new looks and an improved cabin which includes the latest touch-screen MMI Touch. The brand’s impressive - but sometime-optional - virtual cockpit is now standard across the range, Audi says.Width and height are the same but larger bumpers add 19mm to the overall length of the SUV.The tail lights are interesting when did I ever think I’d say that? They employ next generation OLED technology. This is claimed to be a world first in the automotive sector as it permits personalisation of the light design.Noteworthy at launch will be the 2-litre diesel, especially as its power is increased from 190PS to 204PS.A mild hybrid system (MHEV) boosts the 2-litre’s performance and lets the car coast with the engine off at speeds of up to 160kmh, Audi claim. As well as the diesel et al, there will be two plug-in hybrids to power other models.Expect
OPEL’S NEW MOKKA CROSSOVER
looks the business doesn’t it?It’s due here early next year and will have electric and internal combustion-engine powertrains from launch. It highlights the brand’s face of the future, with the Vizor design out front, and a new digital interior cockpit.Opel say it is a bold new departure for the brand.I think they can say that again. With short overhangs, a marginal increase in wheelbase (+2mm) and at 4.15m long, they claim there is cabin room for five passengers - as well as 350 litres of boot space.Standard spec includes LED lamps, electric parking brake, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and traffic sign recognition. The electric version with its 50 kWh battery has a 136hp motor, three drive modes and a claimed range of 322km.
VW’S NEW ELECTRIC CAR ID3 GOES ON SALE HERE
Volkswagen here claims its new ID.3 electric car has a €5,000 advantage over key rivals ( it starts at €33,625). No doubt named competitors (including Hyundai, Tesla and Nissan) will vehemently dispute that as the new ID.3 1st Edition goes on sale and the motor giant highlights price, range, equipment, finance and charging deals as key reasons to buy its car.The 45kW version has a range of 230-330km (WLTP official figures awaited). The 58kW version - the one in the 1st Edition just on sale - ranges from 300km to 420km and later in the year there will be the 77kW with a 550km range. The ID.3 is 4.26 metres long with a small turning circle and has the same acceleration as the Golf GTi.Standard spec on the 1st Edition includes 18in alloy wheels, LED front/rear lights, lane assist, front assist, parking assist, ID light, 10in touchscreen, 5.3in display, Discover Media Nav system and ACC. 1st Plus adds keyless entry, matrix headlights and 19in alloys. They expect this to be the big-seller. 1st Max adds head up display, travel assist, panoramic sunroof and 20in alloys (later in 2020).The 1st Edition will have two updates within a few months: augmented reality on the heads-up display and an upgrade to make it two seconds quicker. The 77kwh models will only have four seats because the car would be too heavy with five people on board, Volkswagen says.(indo motoring)
VOLVO RECALLS MULTIPLE MODELS OVER SEATBELT STRENGTH CONCERNS
has launched a recall for a number of its models to fix a problem with the strength of the front seat belt fastening. The affected models were built between 2007 and 2018, and include the V70 and XC70, S60 and V60, S80 and XC60. No new vehicles are part of the recall.A statement released by the Swedish brand said it “has identified a problem regarding the front seat belt fastening, mounted on the outer side of the front seat. The front seat belt fastening cable may over time suffer from reduced strength under certain circumstances”. Volvo claims the issue is “extremely rare” and there have been no reports of any related incidents. The firm recommends drivers of affected vehicles put the driver and passenger seatbelt fastening in a vertical position, aligned with the back rest, so it isn’t bent over the seat cushion when sitting down. As with most recalls, the work will be completed free of charge by a Volvo dealer. Affected owners will be contacted by their retailer with further information, with the expectation that the “majority of vehicles” will be fixed before 2020 is over.Concerned owners can visit Volvo’s website to check if their car is affected. GARVEY’S COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP STARTS WITH TRIPS TO KILLARNEY: For GAA fans of the traditional championships – that is the ones with no back door – this year is one to really saviour. Of course it is much tougher on players and managers with no second chance and with games ending on the day due to the truncated time frame we could also be looking at penalties deciding big games. But for the fans, especially the neutrals this gladiatorial aspect is mouth-watering. And there is also the possibility of an upset in any one off encounter. The opening round for the Garvey’s County Senior Championships will see the road from Tralee to Killarney being busy with Austin Stacks going to Dr Crokes and Kerins O’Rahillly’s heading to the Legion. Champions East Kerry, who will be stronger this year as Rathmore have joined them, begin their bid to retain their title away to Feale Rangers. Mid Kerry will welcome Kilcummin, Templenoe make the long trip to Dingle, St Kierans are at home to South Kerry, Kenmare Shamrocks face Shannon Rangers and St Brendan’s tackle West Kerry. All the Round 1 games will take place on the weekend of August 23rd and with no Munster or All Ireland club championship this year the County Championship really is the big one. NEIGHBOURS SET TO BATTLE IT OUT IN THE HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP: No matter what the outcome of the Garvey’s Senior Hurling Championship neighbouring sides or sides that know each other well were always going to meet. The first round of the race for the Nicholas Flynn Cup sees Lixnaw facing Abbeydorney, Ballyheigue up against Ballyduff, St Brendan’s Ardfert taking on Kilmoyley and Causeway facing Crotta O’Neill’s with no second chance for any side. KERRY LADIES CHAMPIONSHIP GROUPS ANNOUNCED: Having announced very early that the LGFA was being cancelled the faster than expected re-opening has seen a change of mind. The Championship draw was made this week with the four semi-finals from last year seeded. Pone will come from the Group which sees Kerry, who were undefeated in the League, taking on Cork and Cavan in Group 1 of 4. While 1 from the Group can lead to dead rubbers the Kerry ladies and management wont fear any side. CLASH OF THE TITANS IN MUNSTER MINOR CHAMPIONSHIP: Friday 3rd July 2020

The open draw for the Munster Minor Championship saw Kerry coming out of the hat first followed by Cork to set up a winner takes all clash. On the other side of the draw Clare or Tipperary will take on the winner of Limerick or Waterford. In the Munster Minor Hurling championship Kerry will face Tipperary with the winners taking on Waterford. KERRY GAA CUL CAMPS: Many clubs are hosting Kellogs GAA Cul Camps during July and August and bookings are open for these at the individual clubs. Priority is now being given to those who had registered before the shutdown. Contact the club where you want your child to attend and they will give you the full details. PARNELLS BACK IN ACTION: There is great excitement in the club this week as the Parnells hurlers and camogie players return to training in Caherslee. The u6 boys and the u8 boys and girls are back on Friday July 10th from 6.15pm while the u10 girls and u12 boys and girls are back this Friday, July 3rd from 6.45pm. The u14 boys and girls are already back with the u16 boys back this Friday. The details of the Minors and Seniors returning will be announced shortly. AUSTIN STACKS NEWS: With the GAA pitches open training is returning. The u6’s are back from this Sunday at Connolly Park from 11.15am for an hour. The u8’s starts 15 minutes earlier while the u10’s start training from 10.45 also for an hour. The u12’s train on Thursdays from 6.30pm with the u14’s on Wednesdays with both of their League campaigns to begin in July. The u16’s are back since last Monday and will also train on Wednesday’s with competitive games back from July 20th. On the hurling front Bord na nOg hurling fixtures will start for the u12’s on July 17th, the u14’s from July 25th and the u16’s from July 18th. The Austin Stacks Lotto tickets are on sale from the usual outlets and all clubs should be supported where possible as fundraising has been drastically reduced over the last few months. ST PAT’S NEWS: The Lotto is still suspended but the club is gradually restarting activities in line with GAA advice over the next month. The Juveniles with the u6’s and u8’s are on Sunday mornings from 10.30am, the u10’s on Friday evenings from 6pm, the u12’s on Friday evenings, the u14’s on Wednesdays with the u16’s to be confirmed. The League competitions for the older age groups will begin in July. The Senior’s are looking forward
to their Championships while the Juniors are in Group 1 along with Gneeveguilla, Fossa and Ballyduff. The top two teams qualify for the quarter finals. Round 1 is set for the weekend of July 25th and 26th. Players in the club are also looking forward to the various League and District competitions. KERINS O’RAHILLYS NEWS: The clubs Juvenile Academy is opening up for the boys and girls from Sunday July 5th. Training times for the u12’s to the u16’s will be announced in the coming days and again these will be done under the Return to Play protocols. The Girls side of the club will also be back in action with the u12’s back from last Monday, the u14 girls will train on Tuesdays and the u16’s train on both Tuesdays and Thursdays. The minor ladies are set to return to training this week and the minor ladies will be at home to Currow on Friday July 31st. Registration forms will be available at the training sessions,. GAA Protocols: Players and parents should make themselves aware of the GAA Return to Training protocols before going to the pitch. Disappointment for the Green: There was disappointment this week when The Green CBS footballers who won the Munster Cup – the Corn Ui Mhuiri – found out that the latter stages of the Colleges will not be played. St Brendan’s College are in the same boat as their All Ireland semi-final and final have been cancelled. TRALEE BAY SWIMMING CLUB:
the final round on January 10th in Carrick.. Locally: There is no news yet on whether there will be a summer Road and Time Trial series in Kerry this year. NATIONAL LEAGUE BASKETBALL NEWS: Basketball Ireland has announced that the Men’s SuperLeague and Division 1 will be split into a Northern and Southern Conference with action getting underway on the weekend of October 17TH. With teams playing home and away plus one cross conference game we can all look forward to two big derbies in the SuperLeague. Details of Division One will be announced later on. To usually get a play in the National Basketball Arena, which is a great venue you will need to qualify for the final stage of a national competition. However to mark the restarting of the game after the lockdown Basketball Ireland are offering clubs the chance to train their for a 90 minute session in July with details from UseTheArena@ basketballireland.ie ON THE GREENS: Golf and Pitch and Putt were two of the first sports back and now members can also look forward to competitive action. Like all sports that governing bodies had to make changes but coming from where were a few months ago I don’t think anyone will be to put out by this. Pitch and Putt Notes: Pitch and Putt players are happy to see competitive action resuming from Monday.
The club is unable to announced dates for their regular season of summer swims. However they are planning to hold as many swims as they can on a pop-up basis and also hope to have a BBQ or two. These will be announced on a short notice basis so keep an eye on the media for details. ON THE BIKE The Munster CX League has seen some great performances from Kerry riders over the last few years. Riders like Richard Maes, Patrick Clifford, Denis Dunworth, John Crowley, Ruairi Coughlan and Lisa Staplebroek have all done well. The provisional dates are out for the 2020/2021season with the 9 rounds set to start with the St Finbarrs round on October 4th and

Munster Golf Competitions: Golfers at Kerry clubs will be looking forward to their competitions with full details on the GUI social media outlets. Tralee will have teams in the Pierce Purcell, Senior Cup, Junior Cup and Jimmy Bruen Shield. The target for all is the National Finals in Donegal between October 15th and 18th..
