LEGAL MATTERS CORNER MIRIAM MC GILLICUDDY ANSWERS YOUR LEGAL QUERIES

Angela and Fred had lived together for 20 years and never married. Angela had a highly paid job involving extensive foreign travel. Fred had a less well paid job closer to home and he effectively kept the home fires burning and did all the house maintenance, home making and cooking. Angela’s income allowed them to travel widely and engage in their favourite hobby horseracing to the extent that they have shares in a number of award winning horses. They had no children. Angela developed a terminal illness and died without making a will. Her immediate relations are her three brothers and one sister. What is Fred’s legal position. The Civil Partnership and Certain Rights and Obligations of Cohabitants Act 2010 gives Fred rights in this situation which he would never previously have had. Before that the law would have provided that Angela’s relatives her three brothers and one sister would have inherited everything. However this act now provides that where persons have cohabited with a person in a same sex or heterosexual relationship in an intimate and committed relationship for over 2 years where they have children and over 5 years where they have no children and the relationship is subsisting at the time of the death that they can apply for a share of the deceased cohabitants estate. It is up to the court then to set out based on the criteria under the act a fair share to the living cohabitant. The number of these applications since the act came in is not huge. Moreover it is likely that once proceedings issue particularly where it was a very long term relationship that other family members may agree to a fair division of the estate between the relations and the cohabitant without the matter going to court. There are a number of Succession Mediators available if agreement cannot be reached between the parties themselves to help them resolve the issues. If the matter does go to court the judge will consider a number of factors in order to come to a fair decision. Firstly it has to be established if the person is a qualified cohabitant within the meaning of the law. A qualified cohabitant is “one of 2 adults (whether of the same or the opposite sex) who live together as a couple in an intimate and committed relationship and who are not related to each other within the prohibited degrees of relationship or married to each other or civil partners of each other”. Secondly the court will look at a number of factors to decide fair provision e.g. the length of the relationship, the type of living together, the extent of financial dependence, the financial arrangements between the adults including any joint purchases of property, children and caring arrangements for children and the degree to which the adults present themselves to others as a couple. Financial dependence while it is a criteria for other relief under the act is not essential for applying for a post death order. This is a new area of the law and considering the number of cohabiting families in Ireland it is likely there will be more caselaw in the area in the years ahead. It is important for cohabitants to seek legal advice where a relationship breaks down or a cohabiting partner dies. The above scenario also highlights how important it is for cohabiting couples to do Wills.

Join the Roses in this years Celebration of Light CANCER support charity, Recovery Haven Kerry, is extending a warm invitation to the people of Kerry to join them at Tralee Bay Wetlands on Thursday, August 22nd for their eighth annual Celebration of Light ceremony. Run in conjunction with the Rose of Tralee Festival and Kerry Choral Union, this poignant candle-lighting ceremony has become a hugely important event for those touched by cancer, offering them a welcome opportunity to come together to share experiences and celebrate the lives of family and friends. This year’s ceremony will commence at 7.30pm with a performance by Kerry Choral Union, followed by the symbolic lighting and release of candles on the water. The candles will be available to buy on the night or at Recovery Haven in Tralee in advance of the event. 2018 Rose of Tralee Kirsten Mate Maher will be the special guest on the evening, while several of this year’s Roses 4

Recovery Haven Kerry manager, Siobhan MacSweeney said that this very moving ceremony creates a great meeting point for people who have been affected by cancer, either personally or through someone they love. “The symbolic lighting of candles creates a very special atmosphere, whereby people are united and hope is renewed,” she said. “Through solidarity and light, our sincere aim is to being hope to our community in a time when, perhaps, they may be struggling to find some.” Recovery Haven Kerry delivers caring and therapeutic services to those who are experiencing cancer, their families and carers free of charge in a tranquil and safe environment in Tralee - with outreach services in Killarney and most recently Killorglin. Last year, there were just over 3,800 attendances to our Friday 2nd August 2019

On Monday the 2019 Recovery Haven with Anthony O'Gara (CEO Rose of Tralee) and members of Tralee Bay Wetlands launches the Celebration of LIght for the August 22nd 2019 at Tralee Bay Wetlands cancer support centres across the county – a record for the charity. August 10th is Mattress Day! Kerry County Council is providing householders in the county wishing

to dispose of old mattresses with the opportunity to do so on Saturday 10th August. Clean, dry mattresses will be accepted at the North Kerry Landfill at Muingnaminane near Tralee between 9am and 3pm and for no charge. Deposits from commercial customers will not be accepted and a maximum of three mattresses per household is permitted. The initiative is supported by Kerry County Council’s Anti-Dumping Initiative 2019 in conjunction with the Southern Waste Enforcement Regional Lead Authority. WHAT’S HAPPENING IN TRALEE.. Kerry ETB and UCC come together Kerry Education and Training Board (Kerry ETB) and University College Cork (UCC) July) have just signed an agreement that will see both institutions working together to enhance opportunities for and engagement in outdoor education and training at Cappanalea, The National Centre for Outdoor Education and Training (NCOET), which is based at Oulagh West, Caragh Lake, Killorglin, Co. Kerry. The Centre, with accommodation for 50 people is located on 57 acres on the side of Caragh Lake, with access to 120 more acres of wilderness and the wider beautiful countryside around the Centre, including the MacGillycuddy Reeks and Killarney National Park. Speaking at the signing of the agreement, Mr. Brendan Griffin TD, Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, complimented both Kerry ETB and UCC on their collaboration to promote Outdoor Education and Training and enhancing outdoor education and training opportunities. “At a time when outdoor

activities and sports are seeing an enormous increase in participation (upwards of 25% per annum), it is important that we provide suitable education and training for our young people (and others) who wish to learn about the outdoors. I would hope that they might feel confident that they can partake in outdoor education and training activities both safely and enjoyably.” “This agreement brings together the superb facilities and instructors in Kerry ETB’s Centre at Cappanalea with the various Departments in UCC that have a particular interest in the area of outdoor education and training. This includes the Sports Department, that covers all the clubs in UCC, together with all the other 23,000 students and 3,000 staff who may not partake in regular club activities but who may like to avail of some of the outdoor activities.” Prof John O’Halloran, Deputy President and Registrar, UCC, stated “UCC has one of the highest rates of student participation in sports clubs among Irish universities.

This agreement is a natural extension, combining our passion for activity and our sporting knowledge with Cappanlea. " Cllr. Jim Finucane, An Cathaoirleach of Kerry ETB stated “the signing of the MoU with UCC is a welcome development for Kerry ETB. The ETB places great emphasis on the holistic development of its students and learners by providing quality physical education in all levels as set out in the goals in the Education and Training Strategy 2018-2022.

Fenit RNLI Lifeboat saves lives of four people last weekend! The volunteer crew of Fenit RNLI responded with full efficiency to a mayday call following an urgent request for assistance by the Irish Coastguard late on Saturday night. Urgent assistance was required for a speedboat carrying four people which was taking in water very quickly. The vessel was approximately 1.5 miles west of Samphire Lighthouse, located in Tralee Bay. The boat had left Castlegregory earlier and was on its way to Fenit Harbour when the incident occurred. The All Weather Lifeboat arrived at the scene within a very short time. This was a time critical rescue. There were four people on the pleasure boat whom were assessed very quickly and were in a position to transfer 10

from the vessel onto the lifeboat safely and securely by the crew. At that time the vessel was partially submerged in water but with the people being cared for on the lifeboat the crew were in a position to attach a tow rope and bring the vessel back to Fenit Harbour as part of the rescue. The lifeboat and all persons returned to Fenit at approximately 00.03 hours in Sunday morning. The relief at the outcome of the callout was very evident amongst those rescued and crew when all involved walked up the gangway leading from the lifeboat to the station. Lifeboat Operations Manager, Gerard O’Donnell commenting on the rescue said “we are extremely pleased with the outcome of the rescue. The people rescued are safe Friday 2nd August 2019

"If your dream is to improve your communication skills, overcome your nerves and develop your leadership skills, join Tralee Toastmasters members at this event and you'll be pleasantly surprised at the warmth of the welcome there for you," Garvey concluded. Tralee 'Born to Run' Ultramarathon... a Sell Out! Tralee Born to Run Marathon Club hosted its 40 Mile Ultramarathon and Relay event on Saturday last. It was the fifth year of the event and once again was a sell-out, with all proceeds going to St Ita's and St Joseph's Special School in Balloonagh for children with mild learning disabilities. Counted among the 122 runners who took part in the various race events were strong contingents from Tralee Born to Run, the Kerry Crusaders and St Brendan's AC, Ardfert along with many other participants from all over Ireland. Runners set off around the four-mile looped course along the River Lee Walkway and through Caherwisheen and Ballyard at 7am when elite runner Derek Griffin officially got the race underway. 18

Events on the day included the 40 Mile Ultramarathon in which individual runners posted times ranging from 4 hours 44 mins to 10 hours 37 mins. Two-person and four-person relay teams also took on the course to earn the much sought after finisher's medal. Organisers set out to make the event as kind to the environment as possible with runners encouraged to drop their rubbish with volunteers along the route while a cleanup of the course took place after the event. Race director Brian Ó Sé thanked everyone involved for making the day such a success. "My main hope was that people would enjoy their day. People were smiling and talking and relaxing after their run. It was a great day enjoyed by all," he said. Friday 2nd August 2019

BEXBLAH

FITNESS!

HELLO STRONG PEOPLE I hope you are all having a fantastic week! Recenty I’ve been waking up a lot earlier, usually 6am. When you think about it, being healthy, fit, going to to gym and improving your nutrition are all elements of self improvement. And I want to implement every method of self improvement that I can, because being healthy isn’t just about the physical but also the mental. You can be as physically healthy as you want but if you’re not as healthy mentally, you’re not living to your full potential! This year I’ve been reading more, through reading more books and articles, I’ve become engrossed in improving myself fully. The brain is a muscle too you know! Anyway, back to getting up early. I read last year that the most successful people in the world all share the same trait - they get up early. And by getting up early I mean EARLY - all before 8am. Most between the hours of 5 and 7am.

executives wake up before 6am on weekdays and nearly 50% of self-made millionaires wake up at least three hours before their workday actually begins.

setting, answering emails and… working out! All before ‘most people’ ever get up at all. Getting a head start on the day before distractions and obligations arise.

Why get up early? It gives more time for things like having a proper morning routine, journalling, goal

Attacking the day on your own terms first thing gives a sense of control. By getting up early though, these people are not losing sleep they are going to bed earlier and all get 6-8hrs a night.

Some studies show that 90% of

Willpower is highest in the morning which leads to better decision making.

CHERRY GAZPACHO

Serves 6

INGREDIENTS • • • • • • • • • • • •

2 pounds ripe tomatoes, cored and chopped 1/2 pound sweet cherries, pitted 1 small pepper—stemmed, seeded and chopped 1 1/2 cups day-old cubed crustless rustic white bread (2 ounces) 1/3 cup chopped red onion 1/4 cup sherry vinegar 1 garlic clove, finely chopped 1/2 cup plus 1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil Sea salt Pepper 1 cup packed basil leaves Slivered anchovy fillets, chopped pistachios and grated frozen goat cheese, for garnish

METHOD In a large bowl, toss the tomatoes with the cherries, pepper, bread, red onion, vinegar, garlic, 1/2 cup of the olive oil and a very generous pinch each of salt and pepper. Let the gazpacho base stand at room temperature for 2 hours. In batches, puree the gazpacho base until very smooth, about 2 minutes. Transfer to another large bowl. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours or overnight Meanwhile, in a small saucepan of simmering water, blanch the basil until tender, about 1 minute. Drain well and cool under running water. LAUGHTER ....THE BEST MEDICINE A MAN WAKES UP AND LOOKS AT HIS CLOCK. IT IS 7:07 AM He gets out of bed, goes downstairs and glances at his calender. It says it is July 7, the seventh day of the seventh month. As he steps outside he notices Bus #7 going by. He walks to a coffee shop and orders a coffee and a bite to eat and the bill comes to 7.77$. The man thinks "hmmmm... all these sevens... I think the universe is trying to tell me something". So feeling that maybe this is his lucky day, the man cuts out early from work and goes to the race track. He reads the racing schedule and sees that in seventh race horse 7# is called "Lucky Universe". The man can't believe it . He runs up to the teller and bets all his money on the horse. The horse came in seventh.

A STATE TROOPER PULLS OVER A FARMER...

A farmer got pulled over by a state trooper for speeding, and the trooper started to lecture the farmer about his speed, and in general began to throw his weight around to try to make the farmer uncomfortable. Finally, the trooper got around to writing out the ticket, and as he was doing that he kept swatting at some flies that were buzzing around his head. The farmer said, "Having some problems with circle flies there, are ya?"The trooper stopped writing the ticket and said -- "Well yeah, if that's what they are -- I never heard of circle flies".So the farmer says -- "Well, circle flies are common on farms. See, they're called circle flies because they're almost always found circling around the back end of a horse."The trooper says, "Oh," and goes back to writing the ticket. Then after a minute he stops and says, "Hey... wait a minute, are you trying to call me a horses back end?"The farmer says, "Oh no, officer. I have too much respect for law enforcement and police officers to even think about calling you a horses back end." The trooper says, "Well, that's a good thing," and goes back to writing the ticket. After a long pause, the farmer says, "Hard to fool them flies though.

NOVENA TO ST. MARTHA O St. Martha, I resort to thee and to thy petition and faith, I offer up to thee this light which I should burn every Tuesday for nine Tuesdays. Comfort me in all my difficulties thro’the great favour thou didst enjoy when our Savour lodged in thy house.l beseech thee to have definite pity in regard to the favour I ask (mention favour). Intercede for my family that we may always be provided for in all our necessities. I ask thee St. Martha to over come the dragon which thou didst cast at thy feet. One Our Father and three Hail Mary’s and a lighted candle every Tuesday and the above prayer made known with the intentions of spreading devotions to St. Martha. This miraculous Saint grants everything before the Tuesdays are ended. No matter how difficult. E.R.

TORQUING CARS! NEW TECH ALLOWS ELECTRICITY TO BE GENERATED FROM TYRES

A new technology is being developed which could see tyres generate electricity to be used to power tyre pressure monitoring systems. Sumitomo Rubber Industries – the parent company of Falken – is working with Professor Hiroshi Tani from Kansai University in the city of Suita, Osaka to develop the Energy Harvester, a system that takes advantage of the build-up of static electricity inside the tyre to efficiently produce power as the car’s wheels turn. The Energy Harvester consists of two layers of rubber, each covered in an electrode, along with a negatively charged film that interfaces with a positively charged film. When fixed to the inside of a tyre, the system generates electricity as the tyre deforms during rotation. The engineers behind the Energy Harvester think it could be used to power a tyre pressure monitoring system or another automotive device without the need for batteries.Initially created as part of Sumitomo’s research and development programme, aimed at creating technologies that improve safety and environmental performance, the device has now earned the support of the Japan Science and Technology Agency. Sumitomo Rubber Industries is a Japanese company that owns well-known tyre brand Falken. It’s the fifth-largest tyre manufacturer in the world and employs 37,852 people worldwide

NEW DRIVE ENERGI CHARGING NETWORK: 2,500 STATIONS ANNOUNCED

BOX ENERGI - an investor in energy and e-mobility projects - has signed a deal with charger manufacturer Tritium to deliver its DRIVE ENERGI charging network in the UK.The firm is promising 2,500 new charging stations by 2025, with each location featuring up to two DC chargers capable of 50kW.At the rate, the company says drivers will be able to add more than three times the range needed for the average daily commute in as little as 20 minutes. DRIVE ENERGI CEO James Moat said: “We chose to work with Tritium because its technology is proven and its chargers are reliable, robust and trustworthy.“These chargers are not only the fastest and most advanced in their class, but incredibly easy to use and, with the world’s smallest physical footprint, to deploy as well – particularly in our cities and high-density areas where space is increasingly limited.” DRIVE ENERGI is aiming to have 100 sites in operation by January 2020, and has plans to expand into Europe, Canada and Australia. 24-hour support will be available should drivers encounter a problem while charging. The network will use Tritium’s Veefil-RT 50kW DC Rapid Chargers; the company recently signed a deal with IONITY to supply 120 chargers capable of 350kW charging speeds across the latter’s European network. “As the nation increasingly looks to electrify transportation, and as the ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone) scheme comes into effect, the need for reliable, smart and easy-to-use charging infrastructure is critical,” said Tritium’s business development manager for UK and Republic of Ireland Kevin Pugh.He added: “DRIVE ENERGI is an exciting addition to the market with a vision to build a new network offering charging confidence with the EV driver’s needs at its core.”

SPECIAL EDITION FORD MUSTANG '55 REVEALED

A new model of the Ford Mustang has been revealed to celebrate the iconic muscle car’s 55th anniversary. Available as both a ‘fastback’ coupe and a convertible, the Mustang55 special edition brings new colours and styling touches, and you’ll be able to order it from August. At the same time, Ford has announced changes to the EcoBoost and Bullitt Mustang models. The Ford Mustang55 is based on the Mustang GT with its 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine. Power is unchanged at 444bhp, and you can opt for either a six-speed manual gearbox or a 10-speed automatic gearbox. Its rivals include the Audi A5 coupe, BMW 4 Series and Nissan 370Z.The Mustang55 stands out thanks to black dissolve-effect stripes on the bonnet and body, a black roof and black 19-inch alloy wheels. Black is also used on the grilles and badging, and you can choose an optional black spoiler. That’s unless you choose Ford’s Shadow Black metallic paint, and then the stripes are painted silver. Four new paint colours - Twister Orange, Grabber Lime, Iconic Silver and Lucid Red - have been included across the Mustang range, and these are available for the special-edition model. As it’s based on the range-topping model, the Mustang55 gets heated and cooled front seats, a 12-speaker B&O sound system, DAB radio on the SYNC 3 infotainment system and FordPass Connect, and an in-car modem that allows you to remotely unlock and start the car (on automatic models), as well as check where you’ve parked and access online services. The standard Mustang is also available with a 2.3-litre EcoBoost petrol engine that’s shared with the new Ford Focus ST. Ford has given the EcoBoost Mustang a range of performance and styling upgrades, such as active valves on the exhaust system and a new ‘Good Neighbour’ mode that prevents the car starting too loudly early in the morning. At the same time, Ford has revealed that the Mustang Bullitt will remain on sale in Europe for another year. There has been huge demand for the Bullitt special edition, which celebrates the 50th anniversary of the premiere of the original Bullitt film and Mustang. 36

EVERYTHING’S COMING UP ROSES!

TALKING SPORT WITH THE TRALEE ADVERTISER

with “The Voice” Pat Harnett

FAI NATIONAl P.R.O. OF THE YEAR TRALEE PLAYERS IMPRESS ON THE INTERNATIONAL BASKETBALL COURTS: While basketball fans are beginning to turn their attention to the new SuperLeague and Division 1 season there are plenty of interest on the International basketball courts. On the Senior men’s team are Eoin Quigley who is with the Garvey’s Tralee Warriors side as well as their former player Ryan Leonard. They beat Luxembourg twice in Dublin last weekend 105-101 and 90-83. A sign of the strength of Tralee basketball at the moment is that three of the 12 man u18 Irish squad are from the town. Daire Kennelly, Rapolas Buiyvdas and Leeroy Odiahi are on the squad that is taking part in the FIBA U18’s Men’s European Championships Division B in Macedonia. In their Group games they lost to the home side 74-60 before bouncing back to defeat Romania 89-57. On Sunday afternoon they pushed Ukraine all the way before going down 63-74 despite the best efforts of Rap who ended with 22. Next up was Romania and the Irish boys got their second win 81-60 over Denmark with Rap again leading the Kerry trio’s scoring returns with 13 points. They were due to play Georgia in mid-week before the Classification sections gets underway today Friday.

u16’s, and all finishers will get the new Casement Medal. Entries are open from 8am costing e20 for the longer distance, e10 and e5 for the other distances, with the action off at 9.30am. Walkers are also welcome and they will start at 9am.

TRALEE AND KERRY GOLD: There was another chapter added to the proud athletics tradition in the county when Tralee Harriers Travane Morrison brought the National 100m title back to the town. The hugely talented athlete created history by being the first Kerry athlete to win a national sprint title. His winning time was 10.61 which saw him win by the narrowest of margins from Jason Smith. Also with the Harriers, Clare Fitzgerald had another good weekend at national level taking silver in the discus throwing 50.29m. Their club mate Solange Diogo was just outside the medals taking fourth in the women’s triple jump.

ALL IRELAND SEMI-FINAL PLACE WILL BE SECURED: All the best to Peter Keanes and his charges as they head to Navan to take on Meath in the final round of the Super 8’s in what is in essence an All Ireland quarter final. Kerry are in the ideal position topping the Group and playing a side who can’t qualify. However the managers will not be taking their opponents for granted nor will they want to go into Croke Park for the semis on the back of a loss. Kerry will be happy the Tomas O’Se’s card has been rescinded and David Moran looks to be fit again as they lead the table by just one point on scoring difference from Donegal who go to Mayo. So all Kerry need to do is match the Northern side but in truth they will be expected to do better. The battle for second could be a cracker with Mayo needing to win to keep their hopes of another All Ireland semi-final alive. And it’s probably this being the last hurrah for many of the Mayo players that might just see them through. The prize for topping the group means that it will most likely be Tyrone in that Last 4 encounter with Dublin taking on the second place in Kerry’s group. But none of this will be on the Kerry sides mind as they will only be concentrating on Meath and on Saturday evening all the rest will unfold. The Kerry minors are a round further on and have already secured their All Ireland semi-final place. They put in a great second half to defeat Tyrone 1-12 to 0-09 to extend Kerry’s winning run at this age group.

BANNA RUN: This Sunday August 4th is a big day for St Brendan’s AC when they host the Banna Run 2019. Over a fast flat course there are 3 distances – 10kwith the winner getting the Tom O’Riordan Memorial Trophy, 5k and 2k, for

CLUB V CLUB AND DISTRICT V DISTRICT: While the starting dates for the Garvey’s Senior Football Championship will depend on how far Kerry go in the Championship (hopefully it will be the weekend of

September 15th as this will mean Kerry will have reached the final) those involved know who they will be playing in the first round. The Preliminary Round of the Championship sees Feale Rangers taking on St Kierans. From a Tralee point of view Austin Stacks are away to Dingle and Kerins O’Rahillys will be at home to Kenmare Shamrocks. The other games will see South Kerry taking on Shannon Rangers, Dr Crokes up against Rathmore, the winners of the Prelim round taking on Mid Kerry, Killarney Legion facing Kilcummin, Kenmare District up against West Kerry and St Brendan’s meeting East Kerry. PARNELL’S NEWS: The quarter final against Lady’s Walk of Ballyduff was one that the Parnells players and supporters will remember. The knock out game in the Intermediate Championship went all the way to wire after extra time. Playing in this competition for the first time the Tralee side were down 9 points at the break. They fought back hard in the second half but it took until the last minute for them to equalise much to the delight of the big crowd who were supporting the Parnells. And they took that momentum into the extra time securing a very special win. The Parnells players and mentors thanked the Ladys Walk Chair and captain who came into the dressing room afterwards and wished them well for the semi-final. In that they will take on Kilgarvan in Lewis Road Killarney on August 6th at 7pm. Today Friday August 2nd the u14 and u15 players are in Clare for friendly games against the Kilkee Bealatha camogie club in Kilrush. The Parnells Cul Camp which will take place in Caherslee from August 12th to the 16th still has some places available and booking is open on line. The Minors are away to Causeway/ Kilmoyley on Monday with a 7.30 throw in. This is the biggest game of the season for this panel and all support will be much appreciated. The u17’s had a great day away in Waterford for their tournament with two squads from the club making the trip. Also enjoying their day out were the u10’s camogie team with 24 girls travelling to Killarney. The club is delighted for players Katie Dwyer, Saoirse Maloney and Saorlaith Moore who are part of the Kerry team that have progressed to their All Ireland u16C semi-final that will take place on Sunday August 11th. AUSTIN STACKS NEWS: The Summer Camp takes place from August 6th to 10th at Connolly Park. The camp runs from 9.30am to 1pm daily and some places are still available. The under 6’s to the u10’s will train as normal this weekend while the u9’s also enjoyed their final Blitz last week. The u12’s are training for the Central League and also some will be involved in the u13 Lee Strand Tournament in early September. The u14’s had a big win in the

Central Region semi-final defeating Churchill and will now play Killorglin in the final. Having lost narrowly to Laune Rangers in the County League the u16’s bounced back and beat Dr Crokes to qualify for the next round. A number of the clubs players were in action with North Kerry in the All Ireland Inter County series. They lost to Cavan by a point and to Galway in the Shield Final. The Rock was also represented on the winning Kerry minor team who can hopefully go all the way. ST PAT’S NEWS: There was no winner of the Lotto from the numbers drawn 8,18,24 and 30 and the next jackpot will be e7,000 with the draw this Sunday night in Skelpers Quanes. The u16’s were defeated by Skellig Rangers / Valentia 1-05 to 3-12 and the were due to play Spa in Killarney in mid-week. The Senior B team had a good win over Milltown/Castlemaine in their rescheduled Junior League Round 5 game. The win sees them face Keel in the semi-finals with An Ghaeltacht already through to the final.
