Cara Credit Union welcomes funding applications for community projects 21 community groups and charitable organisations have already benefited from Cara Credit Union’s Lauri Healy Community Sponsorship Awards. Speaking to Sean Roche, the Chairperson of Cara Credit Union’s Community Sponsorship Committee “Cara Credit Union is very conscious of our ethos. One way of rewarding the trust and loyalty we receive from our members is by supporting projects that can help build better communities, and add value throughout our common bond in Tralee, Castleisland and Killorglin. Our Lauri Healy Community Sponsorship Awards helps us achieve this objective with the distribution of funds used to encourage and complement the fantastic work that community groups do to make all our lives and communities a better place to live and work. The Sponsorship

Award pledged €120,000 over a four-year period from 20172020. All 21 benefactors are worthy projects and we wish them every success as their projects near completion. We are now accepting our final round of applications and would encourage community groups who are undertaking community projects of €10,000 or more to enter. Previous unsuccessful applications are also eligible to apply.” Speaking to Pa Laide CEO of Cara Credit Union “Lauri Healy was one of Tralee Credit Union’s founding directors who dedicated so much time and energy to Tralee Credit Union. Lauri was also active in his support and development of other credit unions in Kerry and further afield. He was a director with Tralee Credit Union for more than 30 years,

he served with Chapter 23 for as many years and as a board member of the Irish League of Credit Unions helped shape the movement in its early days. The Lauri Healy Community Sponsorship Awards is a fitting tribute to Lauri how gave so much to his local community.”

Your group could be next to benefit. Cara Credit Union are now accepting applications. Closing date is 30th of November 2020. Application forms are available online on their website and from any of their offices. For further information visit their website www.caracreditunion.ie

Kellihers welcome VRT reduction on Toyota Hybrids Ireland’s new motor tax system announced in this weeks budget will see new car buyers who opt for more sustainable vehicles such as hybrid electrics and EVs benefit with better value through lower VRT, while petrol and diesel cars with higher emissions will be more expensive. One example of savings for lower emissions vehicles as an outcome of the budget is a €360 VRT reduction on Ireland’s best-selling car, the Toyota Corolla self-charging hybrid. This saving is in addition to the 2% VAT benefit that customers who purchase a new car before Feb 28th 2021 will receive, which in the case of Corolla hybrid cumulatively adds up to €930 in tax savings overall. As such, there’s never been a better time to buy a Hybrid and save tax. Steve Tormey, CEO of Toyota Ireland, which predominantly sells hybrid cars, said, “I welcome the introduction of the new tax bands for passenger cars proposed in today’s budget. They clearly indicate the future policy direction for Government, whereby motorists will now be increasingly rewarded for purchasing lower emitting Friday 16th October 2020

vehicles, such as hybrid and electric, while paying more if opting for higher emission vehicles, such as diesel. Toyota, which uniquely moved away from the production of diesel-powered cars in 2018 to concentrate on a full hybrid strategy, says that the hybrid electric cars it sold in 2019 Tim Kelliher (centre ) with his team Jack alone will lead to a reduction brand and Irish drivers have on 60,000 tonnes of carbon embraced hybrid motoring as from the environment in their evidenced by the fact that the lifetime. best-selling car in 2019 and year to date in 2020 is a hybrid “By firmly committing to (Toyota Corolla). Hybrid for more than 20 years, while totally eliminating diesel from our range back in 2018, we in Toyota have long championed a strategy that is reflective of what we’ve seen in the 2021 budget -- one which propagates a cleaner environment. Thanks to this foresight, Toyota is now the lowest CO2 mass-market

“Today’s budget is, I believe, a statement of intent from the Government to meet reduced CO2 and NOx emission targets. It incentivises motorists, in a very practical manner by reducing the purchase price, to opt for lower emitting vehicles .

, Tom , Niall and Tommy “While we recognise society’s move to full electrification there’s no silver bullet. Hybrid electric vehicles offer the best choice for the majority of consumers who want to pay less tax but aren’t yet ready to move into full battery powered electric cars for practical reasons. Thus, the recognition in today’s budget for the critically important role of hybrids in the new car mix, as part of the transition to zero emissions.” TRALEE ADVERTISER

Kerry College Teams Up With Kerry County Library To Support Online Learning (Kerry College) virtually welcomed Niamh Doyle of Kerry County Library Services this week as she presented an online tutorial on what the Kerry Library service has to offer. The interactive tutorial was streamed to multiple classes across both the Clash and Denny street campuses. Kerry College and the Library services are collaborating to ensure students in Kerry have access to a range of learning and research resources, regardless of the level of restrictions imposed during the 2020/21 academic year.

Hundreds of students and staff logged in to hear Niamh explain the simple process of registering online as a member of Kerry County Library. She also demonstrated how to use their website to access the extensive range of ebooks, audiobooks, electronic versions of national and international newspapers and magazines and online courses. Popular books, newspapers and magazines apps such as RBDigital, PressReader and Borrowbox are available to subscribers to the library’s online service. All services are free to Kerry

College students, as they are to all current members of Kerry County Library. It was the first part of an initiative developed by the County Library and Kerry College to mitigate against the impact COVID restrictions could have on learning. You can browse Kerry College’s range of courses online: www.kerrycollege.ie For Kerry Library Online queries, tel: (066) 7121200 or email info@kerrylibrary.ie

Best Phlipping Burgers in Town By Georgina Downes

How does a succulent, Black Angus beef burger sound right now? Or golden, free-rangechicken goujons with a fist-full of real potato chips on the side? All without leaving the house. Sounds too good to be true? Well it’s not, because Meet Me At Phillies, the incredibly woke takeaway in Caheranne Village, deliver! Finally, a fast-food outlet dedicated to locallysourced, organic fresh food. Sustainability informs

everything Shane Scanlan and Brian Harman do, from their 100% compostable sugarcane boxes, brown paper bags and cardboard accoutrements, to building relationships with local producers and farmers. But the gourmet vision was always there. “I was inspired by the film Chef,” Shane laughs, “I worked abroad before we bought the trailer and opened it in 2019. We wanted to serve superior fast-food. Business

boomed in lockdown but the mobile side stalled. Then we found a permanent premises in Caheranne, which has expanded our business and we’re delighted.” In the 2014 film, a disillusioned Jon Favreau leaves his job as a chef and starts a mobile takeaway with the emphasis on quality. Both the takeaway and the movie were huge hits so let’s hope life keeps imitating art at Meet Me At Phillies! And watch out for their new

deconstructed salad – coming soon to a Phillies menu near you. Phone 089 478 0316 www. meetmeatphillies.com

ROAST CHICKEN

WITH BUTTERNUT SQUASH

Serves 4

INGREDIENTS • • • • • • •

METHOD Heat the oven to 170°. Coat the chicken quarters with 1 tablespoon of the oil, 1/2 teaspoon of the salt, and 1/8 teaspoon of the pepper. Arrange the chicken quarters, skin-side up, in a large roasting pan. Toss the cubes of butternut squash with the remaining 2 tablespoons of oil, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1/8 teaspoon of pepper, and the sage. Add the cubes of squash to the roasting pan. Cook, stirring the squash occasionally, until the chicken breasts are just done, about 20 minutes. Remove the pan from the oven and remove the breasts from the pan. Tilt the roasting pan and spoon off most of the fat from the pan. Return the pan to the oven. Continue cooking until the chicken legs and the squash are done, about 10 minutes longer. Remove the chicken and squash from the pan Pour off the fat from the roasting pan. Set the pan over moderate heat and add the water. Bring to a boil, scraping the bottom of the pan to dislodge any brown bits. Boil until reduced to approximately 2 tablespoons. Add any accumulated juices from the chicken. Due to Covid, I am running out of cash, can I take money out of my company to cover my living expenses whilst I am claiming the COVID payment? Yes, subject to certain legal limits, the money you earned in the past is available to you. You can take a loan from your company and repay it when you begin to earn income again. I am thinking of retiring and either selling or passing on my business to my children, is it a good time to retire from my business? Yes, there are many significant tax reliefs available to people selling or transferring their business, to incentivise the continuity of small family businesses in Ireland. If the value of your business has fallen, you will have less tax to pay if you exceed the tax free thresholds. Tax reliefs may be cut back and capital taxes may increase next year, so this could be the cheapest time to exit for a number of years. My parents gifted me cash and shares for free, does that mean I don’t pay tax? No, Wrong. You can be liable to significant capital taxes on gifts and inheritances above certain tax free thresholds. There are ways to lower your exposure to this tax if you plan ahead of taking any action. Do I need to file my income tax return soon, when is it due? The income tax pay and file deadline for online ROS filers has been extended to the 10th December 2020, just get in touch if you need help.

Budget 2021 A tale of two Economies

Overview Finance Minister, Paschal Donohoeʼs Budget has been made within the back-drop of an economy running at full employment in January and February, to an entirely different scenario soon afterwards of significant unemployment, huge expenditure on health and social protection and many sectors of the economy collapsed. It focuses on the significant impact of the Covid 19 pandemic, with measures and reliefs aimed at sectors of our economy hit the hardest. In particular, it is aimed towards businesses that have been wiped out by implementing a compensation fund for businesses forced to close. The VAT rate reduction from 13.5% to 9% for the tourism and hospitality sector is a positive move for Kerry and other areas dependent on these sectors. This should aim to maintain employment and support the tourism and hospitality sector. The Budget tries to deliver on pre-Covid challenges such as housing, healthcare and climate change.

What is crucial to Irelandʼs recovery is understanding that the health of the country and health of the economy are interdependentʼʼ – Minister Paschal Donohue. ‘Itʼs a small change in the right directionʼ – John Burke, MD Armada Hotel, Co Clare ‘No change to the flexible home working allowance other than allowing a share of the broadband costs to be claimed back in tax, a missed opportunityʼ – Chambers Ireland ‘These tax reliefs (consanguinity and consolidation relief) are essential to young farmersʼ – Thomas Duffy, President of Macra ‘Measures introduced in Budget 2021 to aid the sector will bring some degree of confidence to publicans, who are facing into a protracted period of uncertainty after enduring a near total shutdown for most of 2020ʼ - Vintners Federation

Upgrade Of Tralee Streets In Nov Part Of €10m Package

The next phase of the multimillion-euro investment in the upgrading of Tralee town centre is to commence early next month. €3.4m is to be invested in a major upgrade and enhancement of Russell Street and Bridge Street which will see a continuation of the shared space and new public realm at the Mall. The statutory notices required to facilitate the works will be published in the coming week. Funded by Kerry County Council and the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government through the Urban Regeneration and Development Fund (URDF), the Tralee Pavements Phase II – ‘Russell Street and Bridge Street’ project will build on the success of Phase I – ‘The Mall’ which involved the development of pedestrian priority ‘shared space’ enabling pedestrians to move more freely while reducing the priority of vehicles. Phase II will see a similar shared space developed along Russell Street and Bridge Street. Construction work is set to begin on the project in early November 2020

and is scheduled to last approximately 12 months, but the work will take place in different phases, during different periods of street closures, and with every effort being made to minimise disruption for businesses and customers in the area. Local diversions will be in place. Mayor of Tralee, Cllr Terry O’Brien said: ‘I am really pleased to see the commencement of works at Russell Street and Bridge Street which will greatly complement the major investment in the upgrading of The Mall. Now, more than ever, it is vital that we continue to invest in our town centre for the benefit of local business, customers and visitors to our town. This is very significant investment in the town at a time when local businesses and the local economy need every possible support.’ In order to facilitate works on Russell St and Bridge St, street/road closures will be required. A road closure requires publication of a statutory notice and a period of four weeks for receipt of objections/submissions. The

notice will be published in the coming week. This notice will list all the impacted street and lanes and outlines a 12-month closure period from 2 November 2020 to 31 October 2021. This does not mean, however, that a road closure will be in effect for this entire period. Instead, works will be phased and not all sections of the streets will be closed at the same time. This plan is designed to ensure maximum flexibility for contractors to allow works to be completed as quickly as possible. Kerry County Council will provide updates on the various phases of the project as it proceeds, and an engineer will be on site to liaise with local businesses on an ongoing basis. Local business owners are being briefed on the

project and will be updated as it progresses. Phase II (Russell/Bridge Street) will see a total of investment of €3.4 m on top of the €3.5m investment of Phase I (The Mall). Meanwhile, the development of the public realm at the Denny Factory site in the Island of Geese which was granted planning approval in July is also due to commence construction in late 2020. This separate €3m project is co-funded by Kerry County Council and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The three projects together represent a total investment €10m in Tralee Town Centre.

Beauty

HELLO BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE! I hope you’re having an amazing week!

Here is my make-up wish-list if I could buy anything...Enjoy!!! Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Pro Pigment Palette: I’ve actually

never tried an eyeshadow palette from ABH & this one created by Norvina looks AMAZING. There’s actually 3 palettes in the range, Volume 1 is my favourite.

Skindinavia Bridal Setting Spray

I love setting spray and I recently came across this one online and was very intrigued. Surely a bridal setting spray would keep your makeup on lock for the day? I need to try it and see how it compares with my ride or die setting sprays!

Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer

If you follow me on Instagram you know that my big thing when it comes to makeup is skin. This is one of the most talked about skin products and I’ve heard great things.

Fenty Beauty Hydrating Foundation:

I tried the first Fenty foundation but it was just too matte and drying on my skin. I didn’t like it. But the new one is hydrating, and, as I always say HYDRATION IS KEY.

Ole Henriksen Phat Glow Facial Mask

I am a BIG fan of Ole Henriksen, The Banana Bright Primer is probably the first ever primer I have fully used up, I cannot do my makeup without it. Anyway, I have been dying to try out this face mask. It seems like it’s right up my street.

T26O R Q U I N G C A R SGet!your business noticed in Tralee’s favourite Friday read DIESEL POWER DROPPED FROM FORD FIESTA SUPERMINI LINE-UP

Ford has removed diesel options from the Fiesta line-up in the UK , citing dwindling sales figures and shifting consumer attitudes as the main motivators for change. The Fiesta’s 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine only accounted for around two percent of the supermini’s sales last year in the UK , which works out at around 1,500 of the 70,000 sold in the UK in 2019. This, coupled with the introduction of a new mild-hybrid variant, means it’s now surplus to requirements. Ford remains confident that the Fiesta’s newly introduced 1.0-litre threecylinder mild-hybrid petrol engine will fill the void left by the diesel, offering “three quarters worth” of the engine’s economy benefits – complemented by a similar starting price but also more performance. For now, buyers can still secure a brand-new diesel-powered Fiesta, as Ford is currently clearing its residual stock levels. However, the remaining examples are available on a firstcome-first-serve basis, as the diesel is gradually phased out over the coming months. Any new factory orders cannot be placed. The entry-level, three-door Fiesta Trend can be had with the 123bhp mild-hybrid powertrain for £18,110, which makes it £170 cheaper than the 84bhp 1.5-litre diesel model in the same trim. What’s more, Ford’s 153bhp mild-hybrid petrol-engined Fiesta Titanium costs exactly the same as the diesel-engined model spec for spec at £20,180.The two hybrid engines also have claimed fuel economy figures of 57.6mpg and 55.4mpg respectively compared compared the outgoing diesel’s 65.7mpg figure.(UK Ford article , Republic of Ireland details may differ )

BEST CARS FOR FLOODS

Need a car that’s prepared for anything? Here are the most affordable cars that can cope with deep flood water It doesn’t matter whether you live in the centre of London or rural Somerset,Dublin City centre or West Cork ... flooding can cause big issues on the roads. If you don’t want to be marooned away from home, however, you can take matters into your own hands, by choosing a car that is capable of driving through deep water without suffering serious damage and conking out. With more and more drivers choosing high-riding SUVs, you might think these cars are capable of ploughing through deep water without incident. However, some tough looking models like the Mercedes GLC or BMW X3 are hardly any better at wading through water than an ordinary hatchback. That’s because many of these crossover cars are built upon the same foundations as smaller models, so all the important bits like the engine and electrical components remain exposed and relatively low to the ground. The GLC can only survive driving through 300mm of water. That’s just half of what the similarly sized Land Rover Discovery Sport can manage and much less than the far smaller and cheaper Ford EcoSport can handle, at 550mm. Choose an ordinary car, though, and you may find that even 300mm of water is far too much for your car to handle, meaning that if you encounter any deep water, you’ll have to turn around and take a detour. So, if you’d rather stick to the straight and narrow, a car that can wade through the deepest water is surely a priority for you. Best cars for floods 2019 • Land Rover Defender • Ford Ranger • Toyota Land Cruiser • Toyota Hilux • Mitsubishi Shogun Sport • Land Rover Discovery Sport • Ford EcoSport • Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk • Jeep Renegade Trailhawk • Volvo XC40

OPEL’S UPGRADED CROSSLAND SUV

These are the first pictures and details of Opel’s new Crossland compact SUV/crossover which arrives here early next year.Sporting the brand’s dramatic new Vizor front ‘face’, it replaces the Crossland X (the X is now dropped).Opel claim it has a better chassis so driving dynamics should be much improved. There’s more by way of comfort levels too, the manufacturers say.And there is a range of technologies as well as a sporty SRi Line trim.Prices, line-up and spec are due nearer its early-2021 arrival.Depending on trim there will be front and rear skid plates, LED front fogs, and 16ins and 17ins alloys. The spread of technologies includes several driver assist systems. For example, there are adaptive full-LED headlamps with cornering light, high-beam assist and auto levelling, head-up display, forward collision alert, driver drowsiness alert, panoramic rear-view camera and automatic park assist.Their IntelliGrip adaptive traction control system is optional. It is something I think is well worth having in a car. It doesn’t cost that much but it gives great traction on all kinds of surfaces. In the case of the new Crossland there are five settings which should cover most bases: normal, snow, mud, sand and ESP.Infotainment systems comprise radio, multimedia and top-of-line multimedia Navi Pro with 8ins touch screen. The seating arrangements will suit families in particular. There are individually sliding/reclining rear seats (60/40 split). They slide by up to 150mm. That means you can boost boot space from 410 to 520 litres, for example. And that expands to 1,255 litres with the rear seats folded.(Indo Motoring ) Friday 16th October 2020

INTER COUNTY GAA ACTION READY FOR THE THROW-IN: GAA fans have been keeping their fingers crossed for the last few months that the Inter County season would get underway even if it at a strange time of the year. But it certainly has all the makings of a very busy and interesting few weeks and will certainly shorten the winter. From a management and administration point of view there certainly is a lot more to think about than the normal heavy workload. Peter Keane has been expressing the concerns over travel as the Kerry seniors go to Monaghan this weekend and then welcome Donegal. The questions obviously include what is the best way to travel. Like all sports players are travelling to training in their own cars, or at underage level in the family car. So is it right then to have the squad travel in a bus for up to 5 hours? Most teams are now also travelling to games in cars and while this is not ideal from a Covid point of view it probably is the safer option. Peter did also raise the question of playing the games at a neutral venue and while he did say he was including Donegal who have to travel to Kerry in the discussion, while it makes sense in one way no team really wants to give up home advantage. Governing bodies, County Boards and clubs have done everything asked of them and when they do get a positive in the camp all the proper protocols are being adhered to so hopefully from now to the end of the Inter County GAA season all goes to plan. It certainly is a busy opening weekend for Kerry with, the Kerry hurlers probably deserving pride of place as they take part in the Division 2A final against Antrim in O’Connor Park Tullamore at 1.30pm on Sunday. With the County Championship over and the different regional championships underway the Kerry player will be raring to go to add another national title to honours list. The Kerry minor hurlers are also in action on Sunday in the Munster Minor quarter final where they face the might of Tipperary in the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick with a 1pm throw-in. While this will probably be a step too far for the Kerry boys playing counties like Tipperary is the level they will aim to get to and they need to be playing at this level. The football action starts on Saturday with the Kerry u20’s also in the Gaelic Grounds for their Championship semi-final clash with Galway. This gets underway at 4pm. And then is the aforementioned big one in most people’s eyes where Kerry takes on Monaghan in Iniskeen at 2pm also on Saturday. WOUNDED WARRIORS READY FOR THE NEW SEASON: Also getting underway this weekend is the national basketball Leagues and from a Kerry point of view it’s a huge year with two teams in the SuperLeague – Garvey’s Tralee Warriors and Keanes Supervalu Killorglin, two teams in Men’s Friday 16th October 2020

Division 1 both from Killarney – Scotts Lakers St Pauls and newcomers Team Kerry Cougars and two ladies teams with Team Garvey’s St Mary’s now in the Women’s SuperLeague and St Paul’s Killarney coming into Division 1. Speaking to the Irish Examiner CEO of Basketball Ireland Bernard O’Byrne put it very well saying “There will be hiccups and challenges. But people are so determined not just to play and have games but to do it properly”. And one thing that the Warriors have done over the last few seasons is doing everything properly. But now it will be very different from the last few seasons where the problem was trying to fit everyone in. Now it is not allowing them in with only 50 allowed to cover all squads, table officials, medical staff, media and floor staff etc. All the Kerry sides are in action this weekend and like other sports basketball fans will be getting very familiar with streaming services. It was interesting to hear the new Garvey’s St Marys player Jordan Chavis, who is from the US, saying that while playing in an empty hall would be very usual the streaming of game will allow her family and friends in the US to watch her play. I reckon that many Kerry basketball fans who are not around will be doing likewise. From a Warriors point of view this is a new start with John Dowling stepping up as Head Coach and will a number of new players. Last year’s very shabby treatment (to be nice) is in the past. The first game will be tricky encounter across the border to take on newly promoted Tradehouse Central Ballincollig who were so impressive in Division 1 last season and will be going all out to take a huge scalp in their debut game. The game tips off on Saturday at 4pm in the Ballincollig CS. NATIONAL LEAGUE SOCCER AT THE BUSINESS END OF THE SEASON: While all local soccer is on hold for at least another two weeks the National League continues with all four Kerry sides in action. The 13’s begin Phase 2 away to Wexford and being in a 3 team group a win or certainly avoiding a defeat is vital. The 15’s got their Phase 2 off to a great win last weekend defeating Wexford 3-1 and will also have played Limerick in midweek by the time this comes out. Should they win this and then win away in Waterford on Saturday they will have one foot in the 15’s Shield semi-final.

The 17’s are at home to Limerick on Sunday and following a lost last weekend away at Carlow/Kilkenny a win in their last game is vital but might still not be enough to reach their semi-final while the 19’s go to Cobh hoping to follow up on their impressive win over Galway. Last weekend the Kerry 15’s girls bowed out of the Gaynor Tournament at the semi-final level of the Bowl going down to the MGL from Dublin. The Kerry girls have been a credit to the League all season.

FRIDAY AND SUNDAY RACING AT THE TRACK: There are two nights of action at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium this weekend. On Friday there is a 12 race programme starting at 7.42pm while on Sunday night the 10 race programmes starts at 6.36pm.

THE OVAL BALL: Well done to Tralee’s Ultan Dillane and Finuge’s Louise Galvin who have both been shortlisted for the upcoming Rugby Players Ireland 2020 Awards. On the field Louise and her UL Bohs teammates were as expected too strong for the new Kerry side at the game played in Listowel. Galvin and another Kerry woman Laura O’Mahony scored three tries in the UL win. There was no senior Kerry Ladies side for these players to play in so they moved to Limerick. Having this Kerry side means the younger talent coming through can now stay in the Green and Gold all the way to senior level which is a great step forward for the game. VIRTUAL WALK AND RUN: In honour of the late Paul Lucey his club Austin Stacks have been organising the Run/Walk in his name. Like so many fundraisers this is now not possible to do ‘in real life’ and is going virtual. However the monies raised are as needed as ever so those out running or walking are asked to upload their pictures and videos to the Stacks Social Media channels and to donate register with Eventbrite for the event that will take place over a 24 hour period on Saturday 31st October and Sunday November 1st, NOT A SPORTS STORY BUT ABOUT A SPORTS PRESENTER: Congratulations to Radio Kerry’s sports presenter John Drummy who has been named as the General Manager of the Kerry Mental Health Association. This does not mean his dulcet tones will be lost to the listeners of Radio Kerry’s sports coverage! But we all know the challenges to mental health at the moment and the importance that sport is to having good mental health. I am sure John will be delighted to work with any club in Tralee and beyond on this very important issue. WINTER TURKEY SWIMS CONTINUE: Like all sports the Tralee Bay Swimming club had to re-jig their Winter Swimming-Turkey Series. Those taking part are asked not to do so in groups but to spread out your times. The rules are still the same – put your name and e2 in the name bucket before you swim and you will be in the draw for the much anticipated pre-Christmas goodies. This week the club also informed swimmers that the temperature in the water had dropped over the last week so those entering the water, especially without wetsuits for those taking part in the Winter Swim, to be careful and acclimatise properly.

that due to the move by the Government to Level 3 the recently launched Street League for hurlers and due to start for the camogie players is postponed for the coming weeks. Week 1 was a great success and everyone hopes to be back on the astro turf in the short term. Most of the club’s teams were finished but the u10’s and u13’s had games to play. These obviously are postponed and all other teams who are finished competitive action have ceased activities. The club is delighted with the efforts of everyone this season. The club wishes its players who are on county duty in the coming weeks all the best of luck. AUSTIN STACKS NEWS: Like all clubs all training and games are now on hold. The underage are now finished for 2020 and the clubs thanks the players, coaches and parents for their commitment during the season. The younger ages are asked to continue to practice at home and the club is making plans for the 2021 season. The club also asks all its members to continue to support its Lotto. The club will have players involved with Kerry teams in the coming weeks and we wish them well. ST PAT’S NEWS: There was no winner of the Lotto from the numbers drawn 5, 7, 8 and 20 with the next jackpot being e2700 and the draw taking place in the Clubhouse on Sunday night. The club is thankful to all who support the Lotto. All Academy and underage training has come to an end for the season and the clubs thanks everyone for their great efforts all season. BALLYMAC NEWS: Like all clubs everything is halted with the underage seasons and Academies not ended. With this being Mental Fitness week the clubs encourages all its members to access the links to the different services that are on the clubs website and on the GAA’s. There was no winner of the Lotto where the numbers 3,5,23 and 17 were drawn in that order. That jackpot was e880. KERINS O’RAHILLYS NEWS: All training and playing has been put on hold to comply with Level 3 protocols. The u13’s and u15’s are disappointed that their competitions have been ended. The clubs thanks the various governing bodies who got competitions played at various ages when it looked at one stage that there might have been no football. The club is fundraising for sets of jerseys for the u8 and u10 girl’s games and there is a blue bucket in Moran’s for Strand Road for any loose change. In the Lotto news there was no winner from the drawing of the numbers 7, 16, 27 and 31 and the club asks members to keep supporting the Lotto.

PARNELL’S NEWS: The club is disappointed to announce
