LEGAL MATTERS CORNER MIRIAM MC GILLICUDDY ANSWERS YOUR LEGAL QUERIES
Cohabitation Scenario. Donal is living with his girlfriend Anne and they are buying a house together but do not plan to get married. He is wondering what should be put in place so that if they for any reason split up what will happen with the house. Cohabitee/ cohabitation/cohabitant agreements are a very good idea to have in place in relation to non-married partners. They provide security and clarity going forward as to what will happen in relation to joint assets. The Cohabitee agreements are for situations where romantic partners or friends buy an asset together and set out what will happen if either of them die or they decide to go their separate ways. It also will set out what monies each party put into the property and what they should receive out of the property in the event of a number of different life events happening. It would usually provide that if the parties separate either party should have an opportunity to buy the other out and if that is not possible that the property would be put on the market and sold and proceeds divided in accordance with the rights and interests reflected in the agreement If parties live together or are in a committed intimate relationship for five years with no children or 2 years with children they would have rights under the Civil Partnership and certain rights and obligations of cohabitants Act 2010. This includes rights to apply for maintenance, lump sums, portion of a pension and succession rights inter alia. It is possible to contract out of the terms of this act with a cohabitants agreement . This agreement can provide for financial arrangements during the relationship or when the relationship ends through death or otherwise. To be a valid binding agreement both parties must have received independent legal advice before entering the agreement or have waived in writing the right to independent legal advice, it must be in writing signed by both cohabitants and the general law of contract must be complied with. It can provide that neither party can apply for redress under the cohabitants legislation or for provision out of the estate of the cohabitant. However a court can vary or set aside a cohabitants agreement in exceptional circumstances or where its enforceability would cause serious injustice. An agreement of this nature could be even done up before the parties enter a relationship. Brings a whole new dimension to the world of dating! While the definition of a cohabitant is one of 2 adults who live together as a couple in an intimate and committed relationship and who are not related to each other it could mean that they operate between two homes. The court will take into account the duration of the relationship, the basis on which the couple lives together, financial dependence and nature of financial arrangements including joint purchase of property, children and caring for children and the degree to which the adults present themselves as a couple. A relationship does not cease to be an intimate relationship because it is no longer sexual in nature. The obvious message from all the above is that applying the head to the heart couples need to be clear on the financial and other arrangements as between themselves and putting this into a contract of the type set out above is a good idea. If you have a legal query or need further information on any item addressed in this column please send in your query to miriam.mcgillycuddy@gmail.com Miriam McGillycuddy, Solicitor, Derryana, Ballyard, Tralee, County Kerry. Medical Matters
TEN RULES FOR BETTER SLEEPING BY DR DAVID BUCKLEY 1. Get regular daily exercise. This helps to deepen sleep. 2. Remove noise as much as possible, particularly if the noise is intermittent. In certain situations, this may require some form of soundproofing or ear plugs. 3. Maintain a comfortable temperature in the bedroom and in particular, avoid excessive heat. 4. Avoid caffeine containing beverages (coffee, tea, cola, chocolate) after 2pm. in the afternoon. 5. Avoid nicotine prior to sleep. Alcohol can help you to relax but is addictive and should not be used regularly to induce sleep. 6. Sleep as much as is necessary to feel fresh during the following day. Too much time in bed can cause fragmented and light sleep. 7. Keep a regular time for waking up and getting up in the morning. This strengthens the natural rhythms of the body.
8. When trying to go to sleep, lie in a comfortable position in the bed and relax all your muscles. Focus your mind on a pleasurable experience (e.g. walking on the beach or in the mountains), and keep your mind fixed on this. You will not sleep if your mind is full of worrying thoughts about family, work, finance, etc. 9. Do not try to force sleep. If you cannot get to sleep, get up and move around, read a book or do something different. Do NOT have a cup of tea! After a period, turn off the light and try again to fall asleep. 10.If these measures fail, take an occasional sleeping pill, particularly if this helps to break a period of insomnia. Remember, however, that sleeping tablets are addictive if they are taken for more than a few weeks. Talk to your GP if you have sleep problems for more than two weeks. It may be the sign of an underlying medical or psychological problem such as anxiety or depression.

3 Major Tralee retailers already sign up to Chambers Voucher Initiative VOUCHERS that may be redeemed exclusively in shops, hair and beauty salons, restaurants, cafés and hotels in Tralee have been launched in Kerry’s Shopping Capital to give the retail and tourism sectors in the town an economic boost of up to €300,000 in the first year. Tralee Chamber Alliance has devised the initiative to encourage consumers, from home and away, to purchase and redeem the vouchers in the town and in doing so, support local businesses. Launched by the President of Tralee Chamber Alliance, Aidan Kelly and the Mayor of Tralee, Cllr Graham Spring, the first Vouchers will be available to buy in the next couple of weeks, just in time for Christmas shopping, and will make a great gift for family and friends. Employers are also being urged to consider using these vouchers as a tax efficient Christmas gift to their employees. 12
TRALEE ADVERTISER
The Managing Consultant for Tralee Chamber Alliance, Ken Tobin, said: “The Tralee Voucher initiative has the potential to yield €300,000 worth of revenue to the various participating sectors in the first year. To make the Tralee Vouchers as successful as possible, we are asking all Tralee businesses to sign up to become a registered Participating Outlet. The more places that accept these vouchers, the more people will purchase them.” The Tralee Vouchers, which will be available in €10, €20 and €50 denominations with no expiry date, can only be purchased at The Tech Co,(formerly B-Mobile) Dominick Street Tralee and online at www.Tralee.ie on behalf of Tralee Chamber Alliance. A full list of participating outlets, which is subject to change, will be available from Friday 9th November 2018
www.Tralee.ie and Tralee Chamber Alliance is encouraging all businesses in the town to sign-up. Three high profile retailers in Tralee - Garvey’s Supervalu, Shaw’s Department Store and CH Chemist - have already signed-up as outlets where the vouchers will be accepted as payment for goods and/or services. “The registration process is simple, and while participating outlets will pay a small 6% handling charge, the Tralee Vouchers will help generate more sales for local businesses,” said Ken Tobin.
For more details on how to sign-up as a participating outlet or for customers to learn how the system will work, visit www.Tralee.ie, email business@Tralee.ie or call Tralee Chamber Alliance on 066-7121472.

Bexblah Beauty HELLO MY BEAUTIFUL FRIENDS, I HOPE YOU’RE HAVING A FANTASTIC WEEK! Sometimes, we get so caught up in our busy lives that we forget how important it is to make OURSELVES feel amazing. Fear no more, this little list will help you to feel FAB! TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN: When my skin feels good I feel better about myself, I always make an extra effort to take care of my skin, use facemasks, exfoliate, moisturise and all the little things that make my skin soft and glowy. Google some DIY Facemasks if you don’t have any at home. PAINT YOUR NAILS/ GET THEM DONE I don’t know about you, but when my nails look fab I feel fab! Because I wasn’t blessed with the gift of being able to make my nails look in any way decent, I get mine done. But if you can paint your nails without them looking like a three year old did them, by all means do that!
DO SOME EXERCISE It has been proven that exercise makes you feel amazing as it releases happy hormones. What better way to make yourself feel FAB than working on number one, YOU!
DO SOMETHING JUST FOR YOU Whether it’s learning a new skill, reading a book, or working on a project you’ve wanted to start for AGES, doing something just for you is a sure way to make you feel FAB!
GET A NEW PAIR OF PJS This is one of my absolute favourite things to do if I feel crappy. Head into Pennys, grab yourself a new pajama set complete with fluffy socks, go home and just CHILL! FAB.
DO A HAIR MASK When I have a good hair day I feel a million times better! I love putting a hair mask in my hair for that extra softness and shine. If you want to use a salon hair mask I 100% recommend Redken or Kerastase, or again, you can go DIY and use some good old fashioned Coconut Oil.

BEXBLAH
FITNESS!
HELLO EVERYONE! Hope you’re having a great week I know the mornings are a little dark now but it’s still great to get up early and make the most of the day! This week I’m talking all about how to stay motivated & the benefits of morning exercise! I myself am not the best morning person, at all. But I’ve been researching the benefits of morning exercise and I must say, it makes me think twice about pressing that snooze button! •
When you exercise early in the morning, it “jump starts” your metabolism and keeps it elevated for hours. That means you’re burning more calories all day long just because you exercised in the morning! • Exercising first thing in the morning is the only way to assure something else won’t get in the way of your workout. If you are hit with a really busy day your exercise could be put on the back burner! • Exercising in the morning energizes you for the day, not to mention that gratifying feeling of
virtue you have knowing you’ve done something disciplined and good for you. • More than 90% of those who exercise consistently have a morning fitness routine. If you want to exercise on a regular basis, the odds are in your favour if you squeeze your workout into the a.m. • Studies have shown that women and men who wake up early for regular exercise sleep better than those who routinely exercise in the evening. Since exercise stimulates your body, when you exercise at night, it becomes more difficult to fully relax and drift into peaceful sleep. • By knocking out your exercise first thing, you will approach your food differently throughout the day. You will be proud of yourself for getting up and burning some calories, so why sabotage it with an unhealthy lunch? Instead, you will want to continue your positive choices by eating foods that make you feel fresh and energized. HOW TO STAY MOTIVATED! Think Positive: I am a huge believer in the power of positive thinking! Instead of saying ‘I hope I don’t gain weight’ say ‘I will lose weight’. Positive thoughts can turn into positive things.
I find it’s best to make goals, both longterm(monthly) and shortterm(daily/weekly). If you don’t make goals it is very easy to fall off the wagon! Visualise: Visualise yourself when you are at your goal weight/ fitness level. Buy a dress the size you strive to be and hang it in your room, print out motivational quotes and images and stick them up! Do whatever works best for you. Reward Yourself: For every goal you reach it’s good to have a corresponding reward. For example, a new pair of shoes, a spa trip, new workout gear, a night out with the girls. Change up your workout: If you stick to the same workout routine everyday you could get bored and your workouts could become less effective. It’s good to change up your workout routine every week or so to keep both your body and mind motivated.

AN OLD MAN DIES AND STANDS BEFORE THE PEARLY WHITE GATES
He’s standing there, knocking on the pearly gates, but unfortunately for him St Peter’s on his lunch break. However, it just so happens that after a little while Jesus passes by. Being the helpful sort, he goes up to the gates and asks if he can help. “Yes,” says the old man, “I’ve just died and I was hoping to see my son, who died before me.” “I’ll see what I can do.” says Jesus. “Can I ask your name?” “Oh, it’s Joseph.” replies the old man. “OK, and what’s your occupation?” “Oh, I’m a carpenter.” Jesus thinks about this for a moment. “In that case... does your son have any distinguishing features?” “Yes, it’s very odd, he’s got holes in his hands and holes in his feet, you can’t miss ‘em!” “I knew it!” cries Jesus, flinging wide the gates. “dad?!” The old man rushes forward in rapturous happiness, crying “Pinocchio?”

TORQUING CARS! NEW SIMPLE TEST PREVENTS YOU DRINK-DRIVING ON ‘THE MORNING AFTER’
A new device to prevent you from driving under the influence of alcohol ‘the morning after’ has just been unveiled here. It’s called the AlcoSense personal breathalyser and it is designed to help you avoid unintentional drink-driving. Prices range from €3 to €300, depending on the model. With stricter new drink-driving laws and the advent of Christmas parties, the device’s arrival is timely, to say the least. I saw it work in Dublin recently; the sensitive and expensive technologies and sensors are used by several police forces around the world. RSA figures show 12pc of drink-driving arrests occur between 8am and 2pm. It can take as long as 14 hours for alcohol to clear your system if you’ve had the equivalent of four large glasses of wine, for example. The Excel version costs €119.99, while the other models include the AlcoSense Lite, Elite, Pro and Ultra. The range is sold here by Halfords, or you can touch base at www.alcosense.ie.
NIKOLA UNVEILS LONG-RANGE HYDROGEN FUEL CELL LORRY ‘DESIGNED FOR EUROPE’
Utah-based Nikola Motor Company has unveiled a hydrogen fuel cell lorry designed specifically for Europe, a move described by company founder Trevor Milton as “long overdue”. The Nikola Tre is an articulated truck unit with between 500 and 1,000bhp and a range of between 500 and 1,200 kilometres, depending on options and specification. Several axle configurations will be available, and the designs correspond with European HGV categories. It resembles the conventional cab-over design Testing is expected to commence in 2020 with production scheduled for 2022 or 2023. Similar products include Hyundai’s planned hydrogen fuel cell artic, as well as other FCEV and batteryelectric models from smaller manufacturers. “It will be the first European zero-emission commercial truck to be delivered with redundant braking, redundant steering, redundant 800Vdc batteries and a redundant 120 kW hydrogen fuel cell, all necessary for true level 5 autonomy,” said Milton. Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles convert stored hydrogen into electricity using an on-board fuel cell. The only ‘exhaust’ product is clean, drinkable water, and refuelling takes a few minutes – comparable with existing diesel trucks. This is a key advantage over battery-electric vehicles, which can take hours to attain similar levels of charge, though hydrogen infrastructure is still in its infancy in Britain and parts of Europe. Hydrogen itself can be generated through electrolysis, which can in theory be powered with green, renewable energy. Nikola’s first European hydrogen recharging stations are scheduled to open in 2022, with Europe-wide coverage anticipated by 2030.
HYBRID-ONLY TOYOTA COROLLA SHOWS THE MARKET IS SHIFTING TOWARDS ELECTRIFICATION’
It may be a name from the past as far as UK & Irish buyers are concerned, but the reborn Toyota Corolla has every chance of looking bang up to date when it lands in our showrooms next spring. The Corolla is Toyota’s best crack at a proper Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf rival for a generation – and not just because the Japanese manufacturer has at last delivered the sort of decent chassis that family car buyers demand. The fact that it’s built in Britain isn’t the key factor, either. No, the Corolla feels like the right car at the right time because, while there is technically a 1.2-litre pure-petrol version available in some other markets, UK & Irish Toyota dealers won’t be stocking it or selling it – officially. The new model’s line-up is exclusively electrified, therefore, and mainly based on a 1.8-litre hybrid powertrain that has a lot in common with that in the Prius and C-HR. However, the scale of Toyota’s ambition (and opportunity) with the Corolla is really demonstrated by the new 177bhp 2.0-litre hybrid that we’ve tried this week. Prices and specs mean that it may not ultimately prove to be the pick of the range, but the fact that it has been created at all, specifically for European customers who may consider switching from a 150bhpodd turbo petrol or even a 2.0 diesel, shows Toyota’s engineers are well tuned to the way the new-car market is shifting. Will this all-hybrid hatch succeed where its predecessors failed? There’s no doubt that Toyota’s hybrid powertrain still requires a different driving technique. But the ever-increasing number of people looking for reviews of electrified vehicles on our website – and our recently launched sister site DrivingElectric.com – suggests more potential customers than ever are willing to give it a try.

FAI NATIONAl P.R.O. OF THE YEAR SPORTING LEGENDS IN TOWN FOR RECOVERY HAVEN NIGHT: One of the things in a job like this is that you get lots of press releases regarding events and each one is a worthy as the next. But while not all have a sporting side the night for Recovery Haven certainly does. An Evening of Sporting Greats that will take place in the Ballyroe Heights Hotel on Friday November 9th. It promises to be a great night with GAA greats Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh and Aiden O’Mahony; horse racing guru Ted Walsh and Ireland’s women’s rugby captain Ciara Griffin are among the sporting personalities who will be there on the night And if that line-up was not enough then well-known journalist and sports writer and raconteur Billy Keane will be the MC on the night. He will chat to the guests about their life and career highs and lows, with some audience interaction also planned by way of a Q&A session from the floor. The charity is thrilled to secure the support of such high profile personalities as Micheál, Aiden Ted and Ciara, with even more wellknown stars expected to join the bill in the coming weeks. Recovery Haven PR & Marketing officer Marisa Reidy says that everyone at the charity is honoured to have such renowned sporting names take part in the fundraiser, and also paid tribute to event MC Billy Keane, who she said has been a huge support to Recovery Haven since it first opened its doors. “From the minute we approached Billy about doing this he was on board, and we really appreciate that because we know he is asked to do this kind of thing a lot,” she said, “And to have people like Micheál, Ted, Aiden and Ciara take time out of their busy schedules to do this for us is really humbling.” And Marisa also told us that the line-up is still not complete and they are still in talks with a number of other exciting sports stars and is confident will be added to the bill once scheduling can be confirmed.

There is no soccer star on the panel yet but with John Delaney and a number of high profile officials from the FAI in town next week for the Victory Shield maybe a word with John Regan could help fill that void! The event promises to be a wonderful occasion for sports fans of all disciplines, with some great banter guaranteed with Billy at the helm. There will also be some great sports-related items up for auction. The aim of the night, of course, is to raise much needed funds for Recovery Haven, which delivers free, non- medical therapeutic services to those who are experiencing cancer, their families and carers at their Tralee base, as well as their outreach services in Killarney and Killorglin. “With absolutely no State funding, we rely solely on donations and fundraising events to help us meet our annual operating costs of over €150,000, so we really want to make our sports night in November a truly memorable one,” Marisa said. Tickets, priced at €20, will be available from Recovery Haven from this Friday (066 7192122). NO LUCK FOR NA GAEIL LADIES: Na Gaeil Ladies great run came to an end as they went down to Dunedin Connollys in Edinburgh. The Munster Intermediate champions lost out in the All Ireland quarter final but can be very happy with their run that saw them crowned Munster Intermediate champions. In that game they easily saw off Agahda from Cork 1-11 to 0-05. For Dunedin it was the second side with a local connection that they had defeated as they beat Kingdom Kerry Gaels to win the All Britain Intermediate title. RORY THE PERFECT CHOICE FOR COACHING AND ACADEMY POSITION: Well known for his work with John Mitchels and a number of Kerry squads Rory Kilgallen is Friday 9th November 2018
the first holder of the Coaching and Academy Coordinator for the Kerry Ladies Football Association. Rory will be responsible for all the Kerry LGFA academies and will work on restructuring and development of the structures for the future stars. He certainly has the experience for this position from his time as a player and coach where both as manager and assistant manager he was involved with Kerry u14 girl’s teams that won Munster and All Ireland titles. Kilgallen’s main job will be to develop the standards of coaching in the county and ensure that all players are developed to the levels required to progress onto the inter-county scene. Rory is the current club secretary with John Mitchels and is also a member of the Austin Stacks Development Committee. MANAGERIAL APPOINTMENTS: There has been a raft of announcements regarding the new Kerry Ladies management at various levels. Spa Killarney’s Donal Doherty has taken the hot seat as the Senior manager. There is an all Tralee management team for the Kerry Minor Ladies with Darragh Long of Austin Stacks and Declan Quill of Kerins O’Rahillys being named as joint managers. Austin Stacks Gillian Healy has been named as one of the selectors for the u16 Girls team. QUEST FOR ALL IRELAND GLORY CONTINUES: This is the time of the year when those clubs still involved in All Ireland competitions begin to really believe that it could be their year. For the Clanmaurice camogie team they continue their yearly quest for glory. This Sunday at McDonagh Park in Nenagh the will take on Kilmessan in the All Ireland Junior Club Camogie semifinal. The game will throw in at 2pm on Sunday with extra time to be played if necessary. ST PAT’S NEWS: There was no winner of the Lotto from the numbers drawn 9,17,21 and 30 and the next jackpot will
be e3,200. The draw will take place in Keane’s Bar and tickets are available from all the usual local outlets. The Information Night held last Friday night in the Rose Hotel will hopefully lead to many more people taking an active role in the club activities for the coming year as well as increase the playing numbers in the club. Club chairman Jimmy Mulligan welcomed those present and outlined the facilities at the club and also reiterated that St Pats, based in Blennerville is a Tralee club. He stressed that it is important for as many parents as possible take up role in the club that has an astro pitch, gym and community rooms. Next up was in-coming Kerry Minor Manager, James Costello, who delivered the keynote address and outlined the advantages of playing with a smaller club where a player’s leadership qualities are heightened and he also touched on how players within the club can develop and progress to wear the county colours. Finally, a Q & A session on how the club can increase participation was open to the floor and people gave their views which will be implemented in the coming year. Kerry Minor Manager: The club is delighted that James Costello has been appointed as the new Kerry minor manager. James has given many years to the club and the county where one of his highlights was the All Ireland Junior win in 2006 where he played at full back. Indeed that was a great year for James as he trained the St Brendan’s Board to win the u21 county title. He has been involved with development squads up to recent weeks and now turns his thoughts to trying to lead the minors to an unprecedented 6 All Ireland titles in a row. Fitness Training open to registered club members takes place on Mondays and Thursdays 8.30pm to 9.30pm in Community Room’s gym. Contact PJ Higgins or John Breen. PARNELL’S NEWS: The Parnell’s Awards Night takes place tonight, Friday November 9th at the Rose Hotel. It has been another very successful year and the awards will get underway with the u10 hurlers at 7.30pm. This is a great night for parents and players to celebrate the season. The recent meeting looking saw players, mentors, parents and club officers supporting the proposal to proceed with the an application to begin playing at u21 level as soon as possible. This shows that while Parnells are still a young club they now have a number of players who are overage for minor so it is important to have a team for them to play with. The next step sees the Chairman putting together a group of officers, mentors and players to take this forward.

TALKING SPORT WITH THE TRALEE ADVERTISER The club AGM takes place on Friday November 16th and all officer reports are now due to be sent to the club secretary. The club’s u10 players were delighted to take to the field against a Lixnaw side during that clubs recent Munster championship win over Cashel. It was great for players from u7’s to u10’s playing before such a big crowd and the club thanks Lixnaw for the invitation. Parnells Hurling and Camogie gear is now available on line as thought begin to turn to Christmas presents! STACKS JUVENILE NEWS: The medal presentation for the u6/u8’s and u10’s will take place this Sunday in the club house. The players, parents and mentors are all looking forward to celebrating another good year. The u11’s have had a busy year on the road and last weekend were in Cork for the Na Piarsaigh hosted Dee O’Leary Tournament. This tournament has been running since 1979 and the trophy is inscribed with the names of a number of players who have gone on to have great careers in the game including Dublin’s Diarmuid Connolly. And in the future someone could be looking back at the day Ronan Carroll added his name and that of the Stacks to that Roll of Honour. The whole team was excellent on the day and have been all season and are now looking forward to playing for the u12’s next year. Stacks and Na Piarsaigh underage sections have a long relationship stretching back over 30 years with the Cork club regular visitors to the Lee Strand Tournament. The u15’s also enjoyed success recently by winning the Super Touch competition at the Centre of Excellence in Currans. They are now getting ready for the Tralee Town Championship. The u16’s went down to Ballymac in the Tralee Town Championship Group 1 decider in Strand Road. It was still a good year for the team winning the Central League and having great runs in the County and Town Leagues. KERINS O’RAHILLYS NEWS: The club is celebrating its senior team retaining its Town Championship title by seeing off a strong challenge from Austin Stacks. The game was played in tough conditions but a goal from Tommy Walsh put the side up 1-02 to no score and by the half both aides added two points. A 1-04 to 0-02 score line at the break showed how tough the conditions were. While Stacks did improve in the second half the forwards kept the score board ticking over and by the end Rahillys took the win 1-07 to 0-08. The Roddy O’Donnell Cup was presented to Danny O’Sullivan by the Board chairman John Slattery
with Shane Foley deservedly being named as the Man of the Match. The Senior team now await news of the County League final against Dr Crokes with the date still unclear due to the Killarney side’s progress in Munster. The club congratulates Declan Quill who along with Dara Long of Austin Stacks have been appointed as joint Kerry Ladies managers. The club also wishes James Costello all the best in his new role as Kerry minor manager. Grace Moran Walk: This takes place on November 11th and this year Grace’s family have chosen Pieta House, Cuan Mhuire and the MS Society as the chosen charities to benefit from the walk. It all begins at Strand Road at 2pm. The club’s AGM takes place this Friday night, November 9th in Charlies Bar starting at 8pm and all members are welcome to attend. Ladies: While on-field activities have ended the Ladies side of the club is still busy. Indoor training is being organised, there will be Kerry trials in a few weeks plus the Christmas Fair, the AGM and the Awards night. Also many of the underage players will be taking part in Grace’s Walk this Sunday. Lotto: There was no winner of the Lotto from the numbers drawn 3,15,17 and 23 and next week’s jackpot will be e3,100. BALLYMAC NEWS: There was no winner of the e7,100 Lotto from the numbers drawn 12,20,21 and 23 and the jackpot this week will be e7,200 with the draw in Ballygarry. Well done to the u16’s who enjoyed a great win over Austin Stacks to take the Town League Division 1 title on a 4-09 to 4-07 score-line. What made the win even sweeter was that they were down by 10 points at one stage. Darragh Leen was the delighted captain who collected the trophy. The u15’s boys will play their championship final on Sunday November 18th. The club’s Medal presentation for the u12’s, u14’s and u16’s will be held in the pavilion of Ballygarry House Hotel at 5.30pm on Sunday November 18th. The countdown is on for the 2019 Ballymac GAA Strictly Love Dancing. The big event will take place on January 26th. The club is now looking for those interested in taking part. This Sunday November 11th the Ballymac Community Games will hold a registration for all competitors who are interested in taking part in 2019. The registration will take plae in the Community Centre from 11am to 12.30 with the cost being e5 per participant and e10 for a family. CHANGE OF TIME FOR HURLING LEAGUE FINAL: There is a change of time for the County Senior Hurling League Division 1 Final. Due to the

darkening evenings the game will throw-in at 2.30 with Causeway at home to Ballyduff in the decider. WARRIORS LOOKING TO BOUNCE BACK: Garvey’s Tralee Warriors will be hoping to get back to winning ways this Saturday night when they welcome Belfast Star to the Tralee Sports Complex with a tipoff at 7.30pm. Last weekend was a tough one on the road for the Tralee side as they went down 86-82 away to Pyrobel Killester in Round 5 of the Men’s Super League. Garvey’s PRO Alan Cantwell said that it was a tough loss for the Warriors as they led by 11 in the final quarter but a 16 point swing saw them come away pointless. “This was an evenly contested game early on with Killester just ahead at the end of the first quarter 21-18. Again the second quarter was just as competitive and by the half the homes side had a gap of 5 points 41-36. “The Warriors took the game to their hosts in the third quarter and offensively they were hitting some big threes. However they were finding it hard to stop Killelster and especially Royce Williams. But a 6 point lead going into the fourth quarter looked healthy and they soon had it out to 11. In the final 6 minutes both sides were hitting three pointers and two big ones from McGeever put Killester into the lead. With the Tralee side in foul trouble some indiscipline put Killester on the line and they were able to make these and so they took the win. For the Warrior Jordan Evans was the highest scorer on 26 points with Kieran Donaghy on 17 and Darragh O’Hanlon ending with 14. Williams hit 29 for the Dublin side. AT THE TRACK: Racing this Friday night at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium features the first round heats of the Red Mills Unraced Bitch Stakes plus the semi-finals of the Listowel Coursing Clubs AO 525 yards Buster Stake. There is no racing this Saturday night, November 10th, while the normal SIS program takes place on Sunday evening where the first of 8 races is away from traps at 6.35pm. The Track is currently taking entries for the Kingdom Stadium Hurdle for novices and nonwinners over 525 yards and it starts on Friday December 7th. YOUTHS AND U17 WINS BEFORE EYE TURN TO VICTORY SHIELD: The week from November 12th to 16th will see Tralee playing host to the Victory Shield with Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland in town for the week. They will play game on Monday and Wednesday at 1pm and 6pm with both games on Friday taking Friday 9th November 2018
place at 1pm. Mounthawk Park, Christy Leahy Park and Tralee Dynamos hosts the games and it will be a proud time for all involved to see competitive international soccer taking place on their pitches. We all wish Paul Osam and his squad and staff all the best and hope all involved and supporting the tournament enjoy their stay in Tralee. Before this the Park defeated Killarney Celtic 3-1 in the FAI Youths Cup while they also won in the Munster Youths Cup defeating Ballyhar. Locally there were wins for Park u17’s and Dynamos Youths. This Saturday the Park are at home to Avenue United in the FAI Youths Cup Round 2 while Tralee Dynamos go to Ballingarry in the same competition.
