REBECCA’S MAKEUP MASTERCLASS ‘BEAUTIFUL FAVOURITES’, A STYLISH AFFAIR! Makeup artist Rebecca Shortt helped the ladies of Tralee celebrate Womens Christmas in style last weekend as her Sell Out event ‘Beautiful Favourites’ made Benners Hotel the place to be . Orla Winters from Benners greeted the guests around 5pm with Prosecco and canapes(which flowed for the entire evening !) before Makeup Artist and Skin-Care expert Rebecca Shortt treated everybody to an informative , creative and entertaining masterclass in all things beauty . Rebeccas event was sponsored by International Brand Blank Canvas as well as local sponsorship from the Lancome and Clarins Counters at CH Chemists . House of Glamour and Patricks Hair Salon . Everyone was treated to a High End Goody bag and there were prizes galore for the most interesting beauty /skin questions on the night . WHAT’S HAPPENING IN TRALEE... ROSE HOTEL GETS TOP WRITE-UP IN IMAGE MAGAZINE

“I Fell For The Charms of The Rose Hotel, Tralee“

The thing everyone thinks of when they think of the Kerry capital is the famous annual festival held in the town, inspired by William Pembroke Mulchinock’s ballad, “The Rose of Tralee”. And it’s true, even in a cold January there’s no escaping the week-long celebration as you wander around the market town and into The Rose Garden in the town park. However, The Rose Hotel, our home for the weekend, offers a sharp reminder of how far removed the eye-diddlyeye “lovely girls” competition is from the real festival experience. Bought by the parents of 2011 Washington Rose Dorothy Henggeler after her untimely death, the hotel a beautiful homage to some of their happiest memories as a family during the Rose of Tralee. In fact, the weekend of our visit, the Henggelers were over from the States to attend the wedding of the 2011 Texas Rose in the hotel. Now completely revamped, the hotel has a brand new spa, fine dining restaurant and bar, and has found the right balance of luxury and comfort. In the bar, aptly named Dot t‘s, we spent our first evening,

tucking into a delicious fish pie and chatting with arriving wedding guests and locals alike. Saturday arose, sluggish and grey, but some warming coffee and eggs set us right for a wander around the town. The rain held off long enough to get in some shopping and a visit to Siamsa Tíre. One of the busiest theatres in the country, Siamsa Tíre is also home of the National Folk Theatre, where it takes over for five months, from May to September, of productions and classes. Led by artistic director Jonathan Kelliher, this trope of full-time performers explores traditional art forms in music, song and dance. During the rest of the year, this the theatre welcomes plenty of national and international groups to the stage, from drama school productions to renowned comedy acts and musicians. The weather soon devolved into all-out storm status so we hot footed it back to the hotel, an Elemis Biotec facial awaits. After a blissful 45 minutes, we returned, fresh-faced to the lobby to relax by the fire before dinner. Between the bar menu and two restaurants, the Rose Hotel caters for every occasion. We opted for the

Rose Room, a small dining room filled with old world charm. I chose the scallops with cauliflower crisps, pea mousse and sweet golden raisins. My companion went for the Ashes white pudding with goat’s cheese and scorched orange and cucumber balsamic. Oddly, neither of us offered to share. For mains, my venison seemed to melt, helped no doubt by the beautifully caramelised quince. The dessert too was quite the finale, our lovely waiter seemed to get a bit giddy when I ordered the chocolate dome with honeycomb icecream, peanut butter and butterscotch. She practically skipped back to the kitchens. The reason for the excitement soon became evident as she arrived with a chocolate

COMPETITION WIN TWO TICKETS TO MY FAIR LADY ON THURSDAY 25TH OF JANUARY AT 8PM

snowglobe on which she poured the hot butterscotch, melting away the globe to reveal the nutty ice-cream goodness inside. Almost too good to eat. Almost. Following dinner, we half walked half rolled back to the bar for a digestif or two. As with the night before, we weren’t long sitting before our neighbours struck up a conversation and we whiled away the hours chatting to a few American wedding guests and some of the local crew. It was a weekend of great chats, excellent food and a side of pampering and I left with an understanding of the pride and community that surrounds one of Ireland’s largest and long-running festivals.

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS: ACCESSING HEALTHCARE ABROAD Question There is a long wait for a medical procedure that I need. Can I get my medical costs refunded if I have the procedure done in another European country? Answer If you are entitled to public health services that are available in Ireland, you can access these services in the European Economic Area (EEA). You will be repaid the cost if you meet the requirements. This is provided for by the Cross-Border Healthcare Directive. The Directive covers services that are publicly funded and available in Ireland. These include acute hospital services and community-based outpatient care. Other services covered include physiotherapy, ophthalmic, psychology, disability and mental health services. Occupational therapy services and dental and orthodontic services are also covered, but with some exceptions. The Directive doesn’t cover treatments that qualify for the Treatment Abroad Scheme (in general, treatments that are not available in Ireland). You must be referred to the health service abroad in the same way that you would be referred to public health services in Ireland. This referral may be by your GP (family doctor) or public hospital consultant, for example. They may also be able to tell you whether the service you require is covered by the Directive. You can also check with the National Contact Point (details below). If the treatment involves an overnight stay in hospital, it will need to be authorised in advance by the Health Service Executive (HSE). For other treatments, you should check whether prior authorisation is required. You pay the costs of treatment and then apply for a refund when you return to Ireland. The amount repaid is either the amount that the treatment would cost in Ireland, or the cost of your treatment abroad, if that is less. It does not include other costs such as travel. The HSE has published refund amounts for different treatments. To get a refund of treatment costs, you and your healthcare provider abroad must complete a HSE form. You then submit it with the healthcare provider invoice and receipt. The HSE provides an invoice format that it recommends using for the invoice to make sure it includes all the required details. To find out more, contact the National Contact Point: phone (056) 778 4546 or email crossborderdirective@hse.ie.

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN TRALEE... LENDERS IN KERRY AMONG MOST SUPPORTIVE OF LOCAL BUSINESSES – LINKED FINANCE Kerry lenders are among the most supportive of businesses in their own county, according to research by Linked Finance, Ireland’s leading P2P (Peerto-Peer) lending platform. Linked Finance reviewed all loans made by its users and publishes a league table of the most loyal lenders to their county. Lenders in Cork came out top of the table, with Kerry third, with the desire to lend locally also high in Galway and Waterford. The lowest level of local support was found in counties Monaghan, Leitrim, Longford and Roscommon, although this is likely in part due to the smaller choice of loans available in these counties. The Linked Finance platform has supported fantastic Kerry businesses including Skellig’s Chocolates, Murphy’s Ice Cream and Spa Seafoods, raising over €1.1m to fund business growth. Niall Dorrian, CEO of Linked Finance said: “The data reveals that lenders in Kerry are dedicated to

supporting local businesses. Wherever our users choose to lend their money they can do so in the knowledge that they will earn a good return while supporting the growth ambitions of entrepreneurial Irish businesses. There are borrowers and lenders on Linked Finance from every corner of Ireland and 2017 was a record year of growth for the business, with new lending up nearly 200% in the first 9 months. Having recently raised over €2m in new funding, we are well set to invest in driving further growth in 2018.” Kieran Murphy, Owner of Murphy’s Ice Cream, comments: ‘Making ice cream that puts a smile on people’s faces excites me much more than raising finance. That being said, we need finance to grow, and the process with Linked Finance was straightforward and hassle-free. We raised €75,000 in less than 2 days, and we were very happy with the experience.’ Linked Finance has now

provided more than 1,200 loans for Irish SMEs since its launch in 2013, with more than €3 million in interest already repaid to Linked Finance lenders. Companies that have been supported by Linked Finance loans include Viking Splash Tours, Lolly & Cooks, Murphy’s Ice Cream, Iconic Offices and the Irish Fairy Door Company.

market-leading platform has demonstrated that there is a real appetite among Irish SMEs for new and innovative paths to funding. Lending on the site has effectively doubled each year and 2017 has been a transformational year for the business, with total loans in the first 9 months of the year up 192%.

Since its establishment, Linked Finance has pioneered P2P lending in Ireland. Its

HELLO MY BEAUTIFUL FRIENDS! I HOPE YOU’RE ALL HAVING AN AMAZING WEEK. Last week was absolutely unreal. If you didn’t know, I had my first event ‘Beautiful Favourites’ in Benners Hotel on Saturday. To those who came, THANK YOU! I had so much fun, enjoyed answering all of your questions and just enjoyed the entire night in general. Also the feedback since the event has been INSANE, the messages from people who attended were so so lovely and I’m just so happy to be able to share what I love doing with you all. Thanks to Blank Canvas Cosmetics, House of Glamour, Patricks The Hair Company, Cindy & Helen from Clarins and Lancome in CH, Benners Hotel, Kingdom Printers, Orlagh Winters and everyone else who was involved in making

the night the huge success that it was! At the event, I talked about the importance of washing your brushes. Don’t worry if you don’t keep on top of washing them you’re not alone. You should at least try and wash your facial brushes, (foundation, concealer, bronzer, blush and powder) once a week or once every two weeks to start. Depending on how often you use them. The main thing I recommend to wash your brushes with is the Blank Canvas brush cleaner. It’s 15 euro and you can get it in CH Tralee. It’s so easy to use and washes your brushes really quick! I hope you all have an amazing week!

If you don’t want to get that use the Johnsons Original Baby Shampoo to wash them, it does take a little more time but it is a bit cheaper. I just prefer the Blank Canvas one.

FITNESS!

HELLO MY STRONG FRIENDS, I HOPE YOU’RE HAVING AN AMAZING WEEK! This week was a great one, mainly because I made my fitness Instagram public (I created it in October/November). I have a huge interest in the fitness industry and I follow so many fitness accounts on Instagram so I thought why not start my own. So I created ‘rebeccashorttfit’ to post about fitness, the gym, and to just keep me accountable in general. So you can go follow that to see more content from me. Now, I know I’m always talking about fitness and health with regards to the gym and food, but today I’m going to talk about health with regards to mental state and self development. January is such a month where EVERYONE is talking about their new diet/fitness plan and why it’s so amazing and that you should do it and it can be very overwhelming. What you should do is focus on YOU, what YOUR goals are and what YOU want. Don’t focus on anyone else’s food plan, workout plan or whatever. Just focus on what you know you should be doing for yourself. If you don’t know what

that is… seek the help of a professional to see what you need to be doing. Be it a personal trainer, online coach, whatever. Just be sure they’re reputable and know what they’re doing. Also, a great thing to do for yourself is to read. Reading develops the mind and gives you new things to think about. One of my goals for January is to read as much as possible, I got a few books for Christmas and I’m really getting stuck into them. I like non fiction books, some of the books I have on my list at the moment are…

I didn’tmake any big New Years Resolutions, bar one, to make more daily, weekly and monthly goals. By focusing on what you want on a daily, monthly or weekly basis you’re more likely to achieve what you want and stay on track.

AN ELDERLY GERMAN MAN VISITS HIS PRIEST FOR CONFESSION...

An elderly man in Germany walks into a confessional box after feeling the urge that he needed to confess. Man: Forgive me father, for I have sinned. During the great war I hid a Jewish refugee in my attic. Priest: Well, that’s not a sin my son, but rather a heroic act of great compassion and daring. THOUGHTS AFTER A NIGHT OF PASSION...

Woman: Yeah we were good together tonight . We’re laying next to each other. He’s looking at the ceiling, thinking. I’m a bit worried. What’s he thinking about? I’m sure it’s about our relationship. He’s frowning, but he doesn’t say a thing, he’s just starting up. He’s probably calculating, thinking that we’re in a relationship for a bit over two years now. He probably noticed that I’ve gained some weight. Ooh, he’s pursing his lips now, he must’ve come to a decision. But he’s silent, just starting at the ceiling with an angry expression on his face. Man: That fly up there. It’s crawling around. Why the hell doesn’t it fall down!?

AN OLD MAN WAS LAYING ON HIS DEATH BED

With only hours to live, he suddenly noticed the scent of chocolate chip cookies coming from the kitchen. With his last bit of energy, the old man pulled himself out from his bed, across the floor to the stairs, and down the stairs to the kitchen. There, the old man’s wife was baking chocolate chip cookies. With his last ounce of energy, the old man reached for a cookie. His wife, however, quickly smacked him across the back of his hand, and exclaimed, “Leave them alone, they’re for the funeral!”

I ONCE GAVE MY HUSBAND THE SILENT TREATMENT FOR AN ENTIRE WEEK... At the end of which he declared, “Hey, we’re getting along pretty great lately!”

TORQUING CARS! WOMAN THREATENED WITH COURT ACTION AFTER BEING FINED FOR PARKING HER CAR OUTSIDE HER OWN HOUSE

A woman has been threatened with court action after being fined for parking her car outside her own house - because she used her parking permit in a visitor bay. Jo Hind, 57, was slapped with a £40 fine after she used the space while her own was being taken up by a plumber working at her house. And it later emerged she wouldn’t have been fined at all if she had left her dashboard empty, rather than displaying her own resident’s permit while using the bay. UK Car Park Management has now threatened Jo, from Shoreham, West Sussex, with court action after she refused to pay the fine. She said: “I am worried that I am risking paying hundreds on court fees. “It’s escalated beyond reasonable proportion.” Finance manager Jo used the space in January after a plumber took her own space while she was at work. She said she even contacted the parking company to ask if it would be an issue. She added: “People who come to my house for dinner just park in the visitor’s bay. “But because I was aware the parking regulations were stringent I thought the best thing to do was contact the parking authority just to alert them that that would be happening.”The company failed to get back to her and Jo was then hit with the £40 fine. Jo said: “It had a photograph of my car parked in a visitor bay with my resident’s permit displayed in the window. At the time I did not even understand what I had done. “Had the plumber used the space there would not have been a visitor’s space for a fortnight.” UK Car Park Management has been approached for a comment.

DIESEL DECLINE LOOMS AS DRIVERS SEEK CLEAN BREAK

Irish motorists have fallen out of love with diesel. The switch to petrol is happening at a much faster rate than the motor industry or market analysts predicted, according to the head of one of the major motor importers. James McCarthy, CEO of Nissan Ireland, said more urban drivers are now choosing petrol models, with UK diesel sales dipping by 30pc, in Germany by 11pc and France by 6pc. In Dublin, diesel sales for last year, compared with pre-sales figures for 2018, are down from 49pc to 24pc and in Cork from 68pc to 42pc. The industry forecast is that in 2018, sales of diesel models will drop from 65pc to 50pc with petrol models rising from 31pc to 44pc. And the forecast for 2021 is that petrol cars will account for 55pc of sales with diesel models at 25pc and EV (electric vehicles) and others at 20pc. “The diesel crown is eroding and the prediction is that petrol car sales are increasing faster than anticipated,” Mr McCarthy said. The trend has emerged from pre-sales figures for 181 registrations. Nissan is Ireland’s number one selling petrol car brand. The number of new car buyers who have opted to buy the Nissan Qashqai petrol model has increased from 29pc in 2017 to 54pc for 2018. The numbers buying the diesel model have fallen from 71pc to 46pc, while the Qashqai mix outside of the cities has doubled from 21pc to 40pc. “Sales of the Qashqai provide a very accurate barometer of what is happening in the market and our 181 pre-sales figures have swung in favour of petrol for the first time, indicating a return to the natural market position of a 70/30pc share.” Mr McCarthy also hit out at the import of dirty diesel models from the UK. He said the Government’s open-door policy was contributing to harmful emission levels going up here and this could result in penalties of between €3bn to €4bn for breach of our agreement to reduce levels. 32

Intermediate runners must be born on or after July 1st 2001 and here the girls will race over 2500m and the boys over 4000m while the seniors qualify under the same age terms in 1999. with “The Voice” Pat Harnett

FAI NATIONAl P.R.O. OF THE YEAR DOUBLE HEADERS ANOTHER GOOD MOVE FOR THE LADIES GAA: There is no doubt that one of the most progressive governing bodies in sport at the moment is that of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association. Their signing of the LIDL sponsorship and the work done of their big day in Corke Park are just some of the initiatives. Over 30,000 attended the Ladies All Ireland final this year. The one question still to be answered is if all the improvements are filtering down to each County squad? As an aside it has never been a better time to be an elite lady in sport at the Republic of Ireland senior ladies team is unbeaten in its present qualifying campaign and could be on line for qualification for the first time for a major tournament. The u17 and u19 Women’s National League are also due to begin supporting the Women’s National League. Now for the new League the LGFA has announced a number of double headers with the Ladies games being played before the men’s equivalent. This will certainly increase the profile of the ladies game. Those going to the men’s game will hopefully head along early and catch the ladies in action and cheer on their own county. Many might be pleasantly surprised by the standards of the ladies games. The Kerry Ladies will certainly be looking forward to their double headers which will be against Monaghan on February 11th and then a hugely exciting trip to Croke Park. This will see the Ladies Munster and All Ireland Ladies face off before another Kerry / Dublin clash. These games are on March 3rd. It is disappointing that none of the home games are double-headers but hopefully going forward these will take place. The rest of the Ladies League games start with the opener on January 28th at home to reigning champions Cork. They host Mayo a week on a weekend where the Kerry men are away to Mayo! Maybe in time these anomalies will be sorted where all games involving the same counties can be play in the home county. Taking the weather and pitches into consideration if a double header at the same pitch was not possible

then play them as close together as possible with staggered throw in times. Back to the fixture list and after the double headers the ladies will see Galway coming to Kerry on February 25th while they will round off their campaign making the long trip to Donegal on March 25th. KERRY SPORTS ACADEMY WELL ON TRACK: The e16.5 million Kerry Sports Academy has received a donation of e500,000 from Kerry Group as this very important development for the town and county continues towards its completion. The Kerry Sports Academy development is the largest educational capital project to be undertaken in Kerry in recent years. Scheduled to open in January 2019, the Kerry Sports Academy will be home to a number of very important programmes at the IT including The UNESCO Chair in Inclusive Physical Education, Sport Fitness, and Recreation, the National Centre for Adapted Physical Activity – CARA, the Health and Leisure Programmes and the Kerry GAA Centre of Excellence. On the cultural side the Academy will also house the new headquarters of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann, the traditional music organisation. Speaking at the handing over of the donation Mr. Dick Spring, Chairman of the IT Tralee Foundation Board, said; “The Foundation is extremely grateful to Kerry Group for their very generous support for the Kerry Sports Academy. The IT Tralee, which has over 3,000 students, employing 350 people plays a key role in the economic and social development of the county. The main objective of the Foundation is to raise funds for the future development of the Institute, as it embarks on its ambitious five year strategic plan.” Frank Hayes, Director of Corporate Affairs at Kerry Group said; “Kerry Group is pleased to support IT Tralee with the development of the Kerry Sports Academy. The Institute has a proud record of fostering inclusion in sport and in shaping the future of adapted physical activity regionally, nationally and internationally. In addition, the Institute provides

Friday 12th January 2018

a financial contribution of circa €60 million annually to the local economy and Kerry Group supports its future development as it prepares to amalgamate with the Cork Institute of Technology and form the Munster Technological University.” Dr. Oliver Murphy, President of the IT Tralee, expressed his sincere thanks to Kerry Group for their vote of confidence in the project. “The Kerry Sports Academy is a very exciting project which will provide the Institute with facilities of an international standard, in addition to providing an excellent sporting resource for the county and the region. The IT Tralee has an esteemed international reputation for leadership in inclusion and adapted physical activity and is the only higher education provider globally to be awarded a UNESCO Chair in this area. This is testimony to the excellence of the Institute’s work in including people with disabilities in physical education, sport, fitness and recreation.” TRALEE BOXER HONOURED IN HOME TOWN: The Tralee Municipal District Awards take place this Friday night and they will honour those who have made a significant contribution to the local community and for their achievements. League. Next up this Sunday is a trip to Moycullen this Sunday with a 7pm tip-off. The Warriors are in second place in the SuperLeague but have played more games than the teams around them. All those in Tralee basketball are wishing Keane’s Supervalu Killorglin and St Mary’s Castleisland plus Fr Mathews coach James Fleming and Glanmire’s Aine McKenna all the best in their Cup finals.

TRALEE TEAMS SOCCER RESULTS: In the Kerry District League Denny Youth League the Tralee derby was a tight affair with The Park beating Tralee Dynamos 1-0 with the away side wondering how did not take at least a point back across the car park as they has a number of chances.

TRALEE RUGBY PROGRESS AT BALLYARD: In the first round of the Munster Junior Cup Tralee rugby club had a very impressive 47-23 point home win over Thomand. The Tralee tries came from Mike Lyne, Fearghal O’Nuallain, Danny Cournane and Nessan Crean, Eoin O’Carroll and Jeaic O’Suilleabhain and Jack Quilter was in good form with the boot. Tralee will be hoping for a good run and this was certainly a good start. Tralee are away to Clonakilty this Sunday. In the Munster u16 Cup Group 1Tralee defeated Thurles 22-7. Tralee started well and led 12-0 and when they got another try early in the second half there was no way back for the visitors. This weekend Tralee are at home in the Munster u14 League Plate against Killorglin.

In Denny Premier B CSKA Tralee went down to Killorglin while Tralee Celtic and Mitchels Avenue drew 1-1. Players are asked to bring e2 to cover the pitch and lights hire and to wrap up well due to the cold weather. U-12 League Report - Our youthful side went down 3-2 to our near neighbours Park in an entertaining encounter last Saturday. Our scorers were Shayne Stack and Adam Evans. Having gone two down by half time it was a battling performance in the second half which brought the game back to 2 all. Park nicked it at the death with a last minute winner. This was a great performance by the lads. The club is delighted for Luke Horgan who was named in the Kerry Schoolboys Girls Team of the Week. WARRIORS LEAGUE AMBITIONS: With no Tralee interest in the Cup finals in Tallaght at the end of the month all the attention of Garvey’s Tralee Warriors is now on the

HARRIERS BRING HOME THE GOODS: The athletics seasons certainly kicked off with a bang for Tralee Harriers AC and they brought home 13 medals from the Munster Junior / u23 Indoor championships and the Munster Indoor Juvenile and Youth Combined events. Limerick in the second round of the Co-Op Superstores Munster senior hurling League. Kerry fans will be looking forward to Sunday when they play their first home game against Cork at Austin Stack Park. The game throws in a 2pm and while the John Meyler managed side will be firm favourites Kerry will be looking to build on the 1-12 they scored in the second half last weekend. DOUBLE DELIGHT AT SCOR: There were big celebrations at the Scor nOg Munster Finals in Ovens when Na Gaeil were crowned Munster Leiriu Champions completing a double for Kerry as reigning champions Spa Killarney won the Set competition once again. The Leiriu (which used to be the Novelty Act section but is now much expanded to be a short play) group from Na Gaeil, representing the Tralee / St Brendan’s Board were – Barry Sugrue, Dearbhala Quirke, Joshua Roche, Liam Og Kingston, Emily Crowe, Aine O’Sullivan and Aoife O’Sullivan. There was hard luck for Dearbhala Quirke who put in a great effort to complete a double in the Recitation but just came up short. TRALEE CBS THROUGH IN CORN UI MHUIRI: Tralee CBS have qualified for the quarter finals of the Corn Ui Mhuiri but had to wait for other results to go their way. They now face a tough game against St Flannans from Ennis who have knocked out a number of Kerry sides over the last few years. If the CBS can get past the Ennis school they will face either Hamilton High School from Bandon or Colaiste Cholm from Ballincolling in the semi-finals. In the Corn Ui Mhurchu Gaelcolaiste Chiarrai from Tralee will take on Presentation College Mardyke in their quarter final. In the quarter final stages of the Frewen Cup on January 24th Mercy Mounthawk will play St Flannans. RULE CHANGE: All the GAA clubs this week have mentioned the New Rule that has come into force. The Rule is that from January 1st, a rule change has been introduced to Gaelic Football: The ball shall travel not less than 13m and outside the 20m line before being played by another player on the defending team. The penalty for breaching this rule is that the kick-out will be cancelled and the ball thrown-in on the defending teams 20m line in front of the scoring space. It will be interesting to see what the players and referees make of the new rule. ST PAT’S NEWS: There was no winner of the Lotto from the numbers drawn 3,9,14 and 26 and the next Jackpot will be e5,700 with the draw on Sunday night in Skelper Quane’s. MIRACLE PRAYERS

Get your business noticed in Tralee’s favourite Friday read

THE MIRACLE PRAYER Dear Heart of Jesus in the past I have asked for many favours, this time I ask you this special one (mention favour). Take it dear Heart of Jesus and place it within your Heart where your Father sees it, then in his merciful eyes it will become your favour not mine. Amen. Say this prayer three times for three days and your favour will be granted. Never known to fail. Must promise publication of prayer.

HIT THE ROAD FOR THE 10K BLUES RUN! People from all over the county are looking forward to the Kerins O Rahillys 10k run which will take place on Sunday 28th Jan from the club house. This is the clubs first fundraiser of the year and already there has been great interest expressed in the event which has grown in popularity over past few years. Essentially this is a community based event with runners of all abilities welcome and the route being similar to other years taking in Ballyvelly, The Kerries, Knockanish culminating in a lap of Cahills Park before crossing the finish line in the club house The event coincides with Kerry’s first game of the Allianz National Football league when Kerry take on Donegal in Killarney ( throw in @ 14.00) so runners will have plenty of time to make the game afterwards. Registration is €20 and people can register on line or on the morning of the run at the club house.
