CASTLEGREGORY GOLF CLUB JUNIOR ‘GET INTO GOLF WITH RORY’ INITIATIVE
The summer holidays took on new meaning for young people in schools around Castlegregory, as they packed themselves off to golf camp. The junior club committee working with the Confederation of Golf Ireland junior programme, ran lessons for absolute beginners to improvers throughout the summer months. The interest was phenomenal with 56 juniors signing up for the lessons. Liam Duggan Golf Ltd. provided the golf coaching with support from many committed Castlegregory Golf Club members, junior committee and parents. The initiative has been supported also by Kerry Recreation Sports Partnership/Sport Ireland through the school/club links programme, which according to junior club committee member Edel Randles,” has enabled us to reach out to all of the local schools, to invite youngsters in the community to try out golf. Playing with one’s friends is essential to developing young people in golf and keeping them in the game for longer”. The club will continue to provide coaching and mentoring throughout the winter months, on Sunday afternoons at 1.30, and will start the next golfing year with a junior Easter camp, for all playing levels. For further information on the Junior club, contact the club house at (066) 7139444, or speak with any of the junior committee members and mentors below: Pat Doody, John Dillane, Geraldine Flynn, Patricia Goodwin, (Ladies Captain), Mike Keane, Tommy King, Mike Mercer (Men’s Captain), Tom Moriarty (Chair of Management), Miriam Mulhall Nolan, Edel Randles, Martin Rice, Teresa Rice, John Rowan, Rob Sheehy, Con O’Connor, Colin O’Sullivan, Anne Woods, 2

LEGAL MATTERS CORNER MIRIAM MC GILLICUDDY ANSWERS YOUR LEGAL QUERIES
Rachel is thinking of buying her own home as she has calculated it will not cost her that much more than she presently pays in rent and she can access a mortgage through her bank. What does she need to look out for? Buying a first home is a very exciting time. There are a number of items to look out for. Firstly it is important to get a structural survey done by a qualified profession to check the structure of the dwelling. There will be a valuation done by the mortgage bank but this is not a structural survey. Most houses being sold have to have a BER Certificate showing the energy rating on the property, which is a guide to future heating costs, and should be looked at carefully. It may highlight work that need to be done to the house in insulation etc. Other issues the professional surveyor might look at are the identity that the property on the ground complied with the map and the planning and services situation. Contact the solicitor who will help you purchase the house and go through the house purchase with them to highlight other areas to look out for. The Solicitor for the seller will send all the paperwork for the house to your solicitor who will check through it with you and may have to raise various queries to make sure it is OK for you to sign the contract. A budget of purchase costs needs to be done to make sure you have enough to buy the house and pay the additional costs like stamp duty, property registration fees and professional costs e.g. solicitors, surveyor etc. It is a good idea to talk to the neighbors near the property you propose to buy to get a feel for the area and to try and get advance warning of any issues with the house and area. Yourself or your engineer should do a search on www. Cfram.ie to check whether the house is in an area prone to flooding. The mortgage institution will have many requirements including mortage protection life insurance and house buildings insurance and it is important to shop around to get the best deals on these. Even with no mortgage house buildings insurance is essential. It is important to contact your solicitor as soon as you are considering the purchase to get maximum value out of their services and to go through a list of other items to look out for e.g. rights of way and access. Remember the day you buy a property should also be the day you can sell it so make sure the property is one that will be good for reselling also. Lawquip: A housewarming if the final call for those who haven’t sent a wedding present. If you have a question we would love to hear it please email mirs@gofree.indigo.ie. RADIO KERRY IS THE 2016 PPI LOCAL RADIO STATION OF THE YEAR
Radio Kerry was named as the 2016 PPI Local Radio Station of the Year at the annual PPI National Radio Awards Ceremony at the Lyrath Estate in Kilkenny last Friday night. It is the fifth time that the station has received the accolade, which is awarded by a panel of peers, in the past 11 years. The PPI judges’ citation which accompanied the announcement of Local Station of the Year reads …. “Radio Kerry: Compelling Radio that pulls you to the place its coming from. Organic in its connection with the community. On the point in terms of what local radio should be”. In a year where the Kerry Minor Football Teams brought a third All Ireland Championship title back to Kerry this award for Radio Kerry brings further glory All Ireland glory to the Kingdom. The Station was also successful in three further categories winning Silver in the Innovation Category for the Just Once series developed by the students of KerryETB/Radio Kerry Training under the stewardship of Shane O Connor. The Just Once series also took Bronze in the Short Feature category. The third award was for Weeshie Fogarty who won Bronze in the Sports Broadcaster of the Year category. Radio Kerry General Manager, Fiona Stack, said that she is extremely proud that the station has been awarded PPI Local Station of the Year for a fifth time, a record unrivalled by any other station. She expressed her gratitude to the entire team at Radio Kerry for their dedication to producing excellent radio. She paid tribute to the Radio Kerry listeners and to the Advertisers and Sponsors who’s ongoing support allow us to be the voice of and for Kerry 365 days a year. The PPI invites radio stations annually to submit entries that they feel show a true and thorough representation of the output of the station. This year’s Radio Kerry entry contained content from music programmes, sports, news, and speech programmes amongst other things and represented a year in the life of Radio Kerry. This year is the 16th year of the PPI National Radio Awards. Radio Kerry has received 94 PPI Radio Awards nominations and won 48 awards - 15 gold, 13 silver and 20 bronze – in that time. 6

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN TRALEE... SPECIAL YOUTH EDITION OF JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOUR DREAMCOAT -THIS WEEKEND Tralee Musical Society are staging Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat - Youth Edition from the 12th-15th of October According to Suzan O Gara “ It is a mind-blowing musical, extremely vibrant, colourful, funny and energetic and really shouldnt be missed. !”
Says Suzan “This is a new venture for Tralee Musical Society, as we have never produced a show solely by our younger members before. It was a decision made as part of our 30th anniversary year celebrations, to celebrate all of our newer, younger members and we can’t wait to share the incredible talent they have with the audiences of Tralee. Tickets are selling fast, but are still available and can be booked via Siamsa Tíre. This is the second of three shows for us in 2016. The first, The Beautiful Game received 6 nominations at the national AIMS awards in June, and we were thrilled to take home first prize in two of those categories, with Gary Murphy winning Best Actor (in Ireland!) and Des Hurley winning Best Stage Management after putting in years of hard graft in the stage department. Our third show will be a huge celebration for us. ‘Salute to the Musicals’ will celebrate all of our award-winning musicals over the years, and for this we have openly invited all of our former members back if they wish to participate in the show. “Salute to the Musicals” will run from November 15th-17th and is guaranteed to be a special treat for Tralee audiences. “

JOHN CLEARY TO LAUNCH HIS BOOK OF OLD PHOTOGRAPHS IN THE GRAND HOTEL. One of Kerrys most renowned photographers, John Cleary is about to launch his new book “Through the Lens “ next Tuesday in the Grand Hotel at 7.30pm . His book is a fantastic collection of lovely photographs of Tralee and Kerry people from the 1970’ s and 1980’s. Says John “I have been in a privileged position as a photographer to have been a part of so many happy and sad occasions over my many years taking pictures . I now simply want to share my love of photography and some great images with the wider public “ John has worked throughout his long career as a freelance press photographer , a wedding photographer and also for the Kerryman Newspaper . Indeed he may be celebrating a significant birthday in the coming months but he is showing no signs of putting the lens cover back on the camera just yet . His page “Out & About with John Cleary “ is very popular in the Tralee Advertiser as is his page “Tralee through the years “ , also in The Tralee Advertiser ., consistently outperforming other posts in The Advertisers Facebook page. Its a trip down memory lane, not to be missed!

Beauty Tips from The
Glam Pod
Fiona O Donoghue gives some seasonal beauty advice Autumn Skincare tips
With the change in the weather , these should be your New Season's Resolutions! Autumn is a time of change and transition. As such, our skincare routine should also change to help our skin repair from the excesses of summer and be in prime condition to cope with a hectic christmas!
Facial First!
We gladly accept Clothes, Shoes, Handbags, Ornaments, Books, CDs, DVDs, Videos, Toys, Jewellery & Furniture 100% of our profits go directly to NCBI who work with people with sight loss in the Kerry Area
A facial is the ideal first step in adjusting to an Autumn skincare regime. Facials address common problems and keep on top of things that happen seasonally. Your facialist will analyse the skin, identify and advise on skin concerns, and perform a targeted treatment revealing a renewed complexion. You will leave equipped with the information you need to keep your skin looking great.
Exfoliate
Summer skin can appear slightly thickened and sun damaged, regular exfoliation will remove a build up of dead cells to encourage cell renewal and allow the skin to absorb nutrients more effectively. Top Tip: Be gentle! use a mask type exfoliator with AHAs that does not need to be frictioned
Hydration
You may need to adjust your moisturising routine. Products with a cream base tend to moisturise better than lotions in colder weather. Add serums and hydating mists to your routine to avoid dehydration.

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS: BENEFITS FOR CARERS Question My mother is in hospital and I will need to provide full-time care for at least 6 months when she gets out. What is available for people in my situation? Answer There are several entitlements available to you. In order for you to qualify, the person you are caring for (your mother) must be deemed to be in need of full-time care and attention. This decision will be made by the Department of Social Protection, based on information provided by your mother’s GP. If you are working at present and will be taking time off to care, you may be eligible for carer’s leave of up to 2 years. You must have worked for your employer for a continuous period of 12 months to qualify for this leave. While you are on carer’s leave, you are entitled to get credited social insurance contributions to maintain your PRSI record. You are entitled to annual leave and public holidays in respect of the first 13 weeks of carer’s leave. Your employer cannot dismiss you or victimise you for exercising your right to carer’s leave. You may also be entitled to Carer’s Benefit from the Department of Social Protection, if you have enough PRSI contributions to qualify. If you do not qualify for Carer’s Benefit, you may qualify for a means-tested Carer’s Allowance. If you get Carer’s Allowance, you are entitled to a Free Travel Pass. You may also qualify for the Household Benefits Package if you live with the person you are caring for. There is also an annual Carer’s Support Grant of €1,700, formerly known as the Respite Care Grant, which is paid to full-time carers in June each year. Even if you are not getting any other social welfare payment, you can qualify for this grant if you fulfil the conditions.

TECHNOLOGY CORNER with Billy O Meara (HRI Services)
Billy simplifies and explains Todays Technology What’s the best way to secure my home? Feeling secure in your home is important, whether you’re a homeowner or a renter. That’s why security plays a central role in all the best connected-home systems Firstly you could install an alarm system which can be connected to your a phone line or a sim card which will dial a monitoring station, which you will have to pay a yearly or monthly charge. Or you can set it to call your mobile which would be cheaper. Installation of CCTV Systems in another option which can be connected to your broadband in order for you to view it on your smartphone. It’s very important when buying these systems that you get it from a PSA Licensed installer so that you know that it will be installed correctly. There is a good website www.securityproducts.ie which is owned by ADA Security and they are experienced in all aspects of security so you know the advice that you. are getting is correct. We have a small business with 2 phone lines and three phones. Is there any way to transfer calls between them? When running a small business, it is important to have a good phone system also to make sure the customer gets through to the right department. For example, you can set it up for Auto Attendant so when a customer calls they get a message telling them to dial 1 for sales or 2 for accounts. You can set for one phone to ring, not all of them at once, the ability to transfer calls. At night you set it to night mode so all calls go to an answering machine. I have installed many phone systems over the years and we do not charge a service contract. Because they are so reliable.

Hello beautiful people! I hope you’re having a fab week. This week I’ll be talking all about my current favourite beauty products.
Lancôme Advanced Genifique Serum
Ardell Wispie Lashes
Advanced Génifique Key Features Advanced Génifique Serum targets 10 signs of youthfullooking skin. Up until a few weeks ago I had never really used any serums on my skin. Until I found out that serums penetrate 5 layers of the skin and moisturisers only penetrate 2. So I started using this once a day every day after my toner, my skin feels so much softer, is glowing and my makeup is sitting so much better throughout the day.
Kylie Jenner Lip Kits
I am a huge fan of these since they launched earlier in the year. They stay on so well on my lips, the packaging is fab and they’re such fab quality. I now have the shades, Candy K, Dolce K, Mary Jo K, King, Leo, Brown Sugar & the Candy K Gloss. If you haven’t tried them and are thinking about it, I highly recommend them.
These are hands down, my absolute ride or die, FAVOURITE lashes! They’re €5 in Penny’s & I’m on my 4th wear of my current set. You can get so much wear out of them, they’re not too dramatic for day time but still add that hint of glam. I’ve honestly had people ask did I get lash extensions & complimenting them, well I do work in Makeup so it’s normal for people to notice, but still. Go to Penny’s, get yourself some Wispies & duo glue, and thank me later. And yes, I’m wearing the lashes in the picture above.
So that’s it for this week everyone, if you have any questions or want to know more you can email me at bexblahbeauty@gmail.com, follow my Facebook page ‘Bexblah Blog’, Instagram @Bexblah, Snapchat @Bexblah

BEXBLAH HELLO MY STRONG STRONG FRIENDS! I HOPE YOU’RE ALL HAVING A GREAT WEEK.
This week I just wanted to talk about the time of year we’re at currently. This time of year is a tricky one with regards to fitness and health, summer is over and Christmas is coming… It’s very easy to say “Feck it I’ll take my eye off the ball now and relax a bit until January”, basically what I did last year. But, there’s just over 10 weeks until Christmas, yes I said it. Imagine what you
FITNESS!
could do in 10 weeks? Imagine having a 10 week headstart on yourself! Literally every single time I put off getting serious about my diet and fitness regime I regretted it, I would say “why didn’t I just start 2 months ago instead?”. Another thing, why wait til Monday? Monday is just a day. If you really want to get healthy/loose fat/gain muscle why not start as soon as possible?! Who cares what day it is! If you’re going to put it off til Monday, you’re probably going to keep pushing the Monday back further and further, Monday will actually be the symbol of your
procrastination rather than anything else. Just do it - there’s a reason that’s one of the world’s biggest brands trademarks. And trust me, I know. It’s 1000 percent easier said than done… But once you want it and want to do it for you and you only, the rest comes easy. There are SO many health and fitness facilities in Tralee to suit absolutely everyone, so get out there and find the one for you.
On another note, I have a “Less Guilty Cookies” recipe for you all this week! I tried them this week and I would highly recommend. I got this recipe from ChocolateCoveredKatie.com, check out the website she has so many recipes!! • • • • • • • • • •
oat flour (140g) 1/4 tsp salt 1/2 tsp baking soda 4 tbsp coconut sugar (brown sugar or sucanat will also work) 4 tbsp xylitol or evaporated cane juice (white sugar will also work) 1/4 to 1/3 cup chopped macadamia nuts (or walnuts) 3 tbsp to 1/2 cup chocolate chips (Throw in a big handful. I never bother to measure.) 1 tsp pure vanilla extract 2 tbsp vegetable or melted coconut oil 3-5 tbsp milk of choice, as needed
Instructions
Healthy Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe: Preheat oven. Combine all dry ingredients and mix very well. Add wet, and form into a big ball. Now make little balls from the big one. For soft cookies, refrigerate until cold (otherwise, just bake right away). Bake 7 minutes, or until they’ve spread out and look just a little undercooked. Remove from oven when they’re still a little undercooked, then it’s important to let cookies cool at least 10 minutes before trying to remove from tray, as they’ll continue to cook while cooling. For soft cookies, store in a lidded plastic container. For crispy cookies, store in a lidded glass container.

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN TRALEE... RICHARD & GOOCH LAUNCH COLLEGE AWARENESS WEEK 2016
Minister for Education and Skills, Richard Bruton, today launched College Awareness Week 2016 with the help of Kerry footballer Colm Cooper and students from St. Joseph’s Secondary School, Rush; Dun Laoghaire Further Education Institute; and Trinity College Dublin. College Awareness Week, now in its third year, will run from 21 to 27 November and promotes the benefits of further and higher education. The campaign places particular emphasis on encouraging students of all ages, and social and economic backgrounds to consider their options and to become ‘college-ready’. CAW organisers and supporters are eager to play their part in achieving the objective of a 30% increase in participation in higher level education amongst students from DEIS schools by 2025, as set out in Department of Education Action Plan for Education, published last month. Since its inception in 2014, College Awareness Week has been a runaway success. Last year over 700 events took place across Ireland, and this year the organisers expect the number to increase to 1,000 events. Minister Richard Bruton said “I am delighted to give my support to this great initiative. One of the core objectives of our recently published Action Plan for Education is to increase participation in higher and further education by those from socially disadvantaged communities. College Awareness Week is supported by the Higher Education Authority, the National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals, IBEC, the Institute of Guidance Counsellors and the Trinity Access Programme. Based on her powerful New York Times bestselling memoir of the same name, the emotional place shares Mary Lou’s personal story of a family in love, in loss and in triumph. The Kerry date is part of a nationwide tour with all proceeds to benefit local hospice groups through The Irish Hospice Foundation (IHF), a national charity striving for best care at end of life for all which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Mt Ted Moynihan, Chair of the Kerry Hospice Foundation, said he is delighted that Mary Lou, a great champion of the hospice movment, is coming to Siamsa Tire to do the show.
“We need all the financial support we can get at the moment. Kerry Hospice Foundation is currently building an inpatient room with 15 beds on the grounds of University Hospital Kerry at a cost of €6.2 million. All the rooms will be en suite and will open onto a landscaped and it will make a huge difference to care of patients near end of life in the area.” In addition to this project Kerry Hospice Foundation is donating €400,000 a year for five years to the running of the new unit which will be finished next February and opened in the middle of next year. “We appeal to as many people as possible to come out and support this wonderful play which has as one of its themes loss and grief and letting go of loved ones.” This comic and heart wrenching play tells how after her mother’s death Mary Lou discovered “God Boxes”, small containers stuffed with hundreds of tiny notes, sharing her mother’s innermost thoughts. They revealed her concerns about her kids’ demanding careers, to private wishes for people she’d never even met, to concerns about her own health and everything in between. The poignant notes, scribbled in supermarket queues, restaurants, and at the kitchen table, were her mother’s way of releasing life’s worries and hopes. The discovery of the boxes triggered Mary Lou’s own unraveling, a journey to confront the greatest human challenge – learning to let go. Cowritten with Martha Wollner, an award-winning actor/playwright and director of NYC’s LAByrinth Theatre, the play has been presented in theatres across the US, including Off-Broadway. In 2014 it enjoyed a 24-night run to rave reviews at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Quinlan has donated all proceeds to hospice, cancer care and education. To date she has raised nearly $400,000. Mary Lou Quinlan is a hugely successful entrepreneur, and widely known in the US for her marketing company, Just Ask a Woman. She has advised over 100 blue chip companies on marketing to women and was formerly CEO of a large NYC ad agency. She was recently named as one of Irish America Magazine’s Power 50 Women Bookings for The God Box: A Daughter’s Story at Siamsa Tire Theatre, Tralee, 8 p.m, Friday October 21stth are now open. 30

MAGGIE McEldowney’s first return visit to Ireland since being crowned the 2016 Rose of Tralee has set the bar for the year ahead following a packed programme of engagements including a live TV appearance in a Lip Sync Battle. She went head-to-head with DJ Eoghan McDermott on The Ray D’Arcy Show on RTÉ to promote the Marie Keating Foundation’s latest fundraising initiative. Arriving from Chicago on Thursday morning, Maggie announced her plans for the coming year: “I aim to visit every county in Ireland, become the first Rose to visit every Rose Centre throughout North America (18) and in the summer, I’m hope to head Down Under to Australia and New Zealand. She also met the Mayor of Kildare, Cllr Ivan Keatley and the Acting Chief Executive of Kildare County Council, Joe Boland at County Buildings in Naas. A round of press interviews, a photoshoot for VIP Magazine, a guest appearance on TV3’s Seven O’Clock Show and reconnecting with her fellow Roses at the Friends of A Ball capped-off a wonderful weekend. She also managed to squeeze in a short drive to Derry in her KIA car to visit family relations. IT’S ONLY A JOKE AN ARAB AND A JEW
An oil Sheikh that was in a coma and needed a blood transfusion to survive. Being O- it was hard for him to get a donor with the same rare blood type. Finally they found an old Jewish farmer that was listed as a blood donor with the same blood type. However he was very reluctant to give his blood to save an Arab guy. Finally after lots of discussions and pestering by doctors he agreed to donate only enough blood to help make sure the Arab guy was stabilized. After the blood transfusion and when the Arab guy is healthier, he sends the Jewish farmer a brand new John Deere tractor and a Cartier watch and $100000 as a token of appreciation. After a year, the Arab is requires another transfusion. The old Jewish farmer is contacted and this time is willing to give more blood. After the transfusion the Arab send the Jewish guy a box of chocolates and a bouquet of flowers. When the Jewish guy gets this he is furious as he is expecting much more since he gave more of his rare blood type. He contacts the Arab sheikh and asks him why he only gave him such a paltry gift? The Arab says, ya Akhie (brother) I have Jewish blood in me now….
VICKY GETS HER HELICOPTER RIDE
Henry and his wife Vicky went to the state fair every year, and every year Vicky would say, “Henry, I’d like to ride in that helicopter”. Henry always replied, “I know Vicky, but that helicopter ride is 50 dollars -- and 50 dollars is 50 dollars”. One year Henry and Vicky went to the fair, and Vicky said, “Henry, I’m 85 years old. If I don’t ride that helicopter, I might never get another chance.” Henry replied, “Vicky that helicopter is 50 dollars -and 50 dollars is 50 dollars”. The pilot overheard the couple and said, “Folks I’ll make you a deal. I’ll take the both of you for a ride. If you can stay quiet for the entire ride and not say a word I won’t charge you! But if you say one word, it’s 50 dollars.” Henry and Vicky agreed and up they went. The pilot did all kinds of fancy maneuvers, but not a

word was heard. He did his daredevil tricks over and over again, but still not a word. When they landed, the pilot turned to Vicky and said, “By golly, I did everything I could to get you to yell out, but you didn’t. I’m impressed!” Vicky replied, “Well, to tell you the truth, I almost said something when Henry fell out, but you know -- 50 dollars is 50 dollars.”
TWO IMMIGRANTS
Two immigrants arrive in the United States and are discussing the difference between the Old Country and the U.S. One of them says that he’s heard that people in the U.S. eat dogs, and if they’re going to fit in, they better eat dogs as well. So they head to the nearest hot dog stand and order two ‘dogs.’ The first guy unwraps his, looks at it, and nervously looks at his friend. “What part did you get?”
THERE WAS A BOY STANDING ON A CORNER SELLING FISH...
There was a boy standing on a corner selling fish. He was saying, “Dam fish for sale, dam fish for sale.” A preacher walked up and asked why he was calling them dam fish. The kid said, “I caught them at the dam, so they’re dam fish.” The preacher bought some, took them home and asked his wife to cook the dam fish. His wife looked at him in bewilderment and said, “Preachers aren’t supposed to talk like that.” The preacher explained why they were dam fish, and she agreed to cook them. When dinner was ready and everyone was sitting down, the preacher asked his son to pass him the dam fish. His son replied, “That’s the spirit dad. Now pass the f***ing potatoes!”

TORQUING CARS! TESLA FOUNDER PROMISES NEW ELECTRIC VEHICLE ANNOUNCEMENTS
NEW vehicles could include minibus, van and pick-up truck, plus Model Y car Elon Musk, the founder of electric carmaker Tesla Motors, has promised that the company will announce a raft of new models on October 17. In addition to the launch of Model Y - a compact SUV that will be based on the same platform as the forthcoming Model 3 - there is also likely to be news on an electric cargo van, a minibus and a pick-up truck, which Tesla recently confirmed that it was developing. Musk also suggested in his Twitter post on next week’s announcements that there would also be an ‘unexpected’ revelation. This could be information on improved charging or road imaging technology - but nextgeneration driverless technology isn’t likely to be ready for several more months, according to industry experts, so we don’t expect any more information on that development. We should, however, discover more on potential launch dates for the new Model Y, along with the cargo van, pick-up and minibus, which will be based on the chassis of the Model X. Musk revealed the details on social media when James Ross, a British man following the Tesla founder on Twitter, asked about a possible electric rival to the perennially popular Ford Transit and pointed out that pick-up trucks are relatively rare in Europe compared with in the US. Musk’s response was that building a van based on the same chassis “probably made sense”
NEW TOP GEAR
With the first series of Top Gear receiving a mixed reception (causing Chris Evans to step down as its lead presenter), many will be looking forward to seeing how its rival show fares on Amazon Prime. It’s called The Grand Tour and will be presented by a certain Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond. The trio signed with the online streaming service in July 2015 after the BBC decided not to renew Clarkson’s contract following his “fracas” with producer Oisin Tymon. However, it’s only more recently that details of the new show have started to emerge. Fasten your seat belts - here’s what we know so far. When does it start? It airs on Friday, November 18 and the trio have signed up to present three 12-episode series, with each episode set to be roughly 60 minutes long. The first episode will feature footage from their studio tent recording in California. Mark your diaries. After their previous filming sessions in Johannesburg and California, The Grand Tour will finally arrive on British soil this October. “Our first UK stop on The Grand Tour will be the historic North Yorkshire town of Whitby, so we invite fans to get in early to join Jeremy, Richard and James for thrills, spills and fish and chips by the seaside,” said Amazon Video VP Jay Marine. The opening sequence for The Grand Tour may be the most expensive ever made for TV, reportedly cost a jaw-dropping £2.5m. By the sounds of things, the show’s producers are fans of Mad Max: Fury Road; like the hit dystopian action movie, The Grand Tour’s opening scene is set in the desert, with a huge line-up of cars (150), and a posse of “petrolheads” (2,000 of them) flanked by acrobats and stilt-walkers. Oh, and six jet planes. I’m excited. How can I watch it? The show will be available to anyone who has signed up to Amazon’s £79-per-year Prime streaming service, which also includes free delivery of items bought on Amazon.
RECKLESS HGV DRIVER FILMED STEERING WITH FOREARMS WHILE USING TWO MOBILE PHONES BEHIND WHEEL Footage, filmed by Cheshire Police, captures the man holding one phone to his ear in his left hand whilst texting on another in his right hand A reckless driver has been caught on camera steering with his forearms to while using two mobile phones behind the wheel of a huge truck. Shocking footage was captured secretly from a Highways England on a busy motorway in Cheshire.
Their ‘ghost truck’ as part of a 16-month crackdown on dangerous drivers carried out by police forces across England. Traffic officers from Greater Manchester Police began using the specially-adapted, unmarked £70,000 Scania truck in April last year. With its high driving position, the HGV enabled officers on board record drivers using their mobile phones behind the wheel and committing other serious motoring offences. The footage, filmed by Cheshire Police, captures the man on a stretch of the M6 in Cheshire, reports Manchester Evening News. He’s caught holding one phone to his ear in his left hand whilst texting on another in his right hand. He’s using his right forearm to steer. The driver recorded in the video was fined and given points on his licence.

HQ TRALEE – KERRY’S FIRST DEDICATED CO-WORKING SPACE
Kerry’s first dedicated co-working space will be officially launched this Friday, October 14th at HQ Tralee, based off Abbey Street. Co-working is a style of work that involves a shared working environment, often an office, and independent activity. In Ireland, there are now coworking offices in all the major cities, from warehouse-sized complexes for tech start-ups to a barge in the heart of Dublin’s Silicon Docks. HQ Tralee is Kerry’s first co-working space and was opened for business this month after 5 months of a fit out. HQ Tralee is a modern business location in the heart of Tralee. Combining own-door Business Suites, Co-working Space, Hot-desks, Meeting Rooms and business event spaces HQ Tralee is the first space developed by HQ Co-working Space Limited a Company started by two local business owners Tom O’Leary, owner of O’Leary & Associates and Result Business & Marketing and Ken Tobin owner of Weebiz Media, Social Media Consultancy. According to Tom “HQ Tralee is the first location we have developed. It is located on Abbey Street and occupies 3 floors over the Abbey Inn and House Café. The space is a mix of office suites and hot desk co-working space. The hot desk space is a flexible space that can be rented on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Other facilities on site include a coffee dock with free tea and coffee, and a training/meeting room which can be rented to businesses located outside of the building. We have also high speed fibre broadband and wifi access throughout the building. “ Businesses based at HQ Tralee will also benefit from networking, collaboration on projects, workshops and access to business advice and supports. The space is currently at 80% occupancy with businesses such as Financial Services, Graphic Designer, Web Developer, Video Production, Marketing, IT Consultancy and Digital Marketing. Virtual Office Space, basically a business postal address and forwarding service is also available for those looking working from home but needing a separate business address. “Our main aim is to provide local start-ups and small businesses with office space equivalent to what they would get in large cities. It’s really about bringing entrepreneurs and ultimately jobs back into the heart of rural towns. says Tom For further information on space and supports available at HQ Tralee check their website www.hqtralee.com or follow their facebook page. FAI NATIONAl P.R.O. OF THE YEAR SHOULD AUSTIN STACK PARK BE THE COUNTY FINAL VENUE? If the question is should it be the venue this year then the answer has to be no. As the venue was not sorted before the final then it wound make no sense to bring Dr. Crokes and Kenmare District all the way to Tralee. Even if the Fitzgerald Stadium is just across the road from the Crokes home pitch! However if the question is should Austin Stack Park be the home for all County Finals then that is a different issue. I would suggest that it should be but this needs to announced at the start of the County Championships it would not become an issue.
Every sports fan in the county will join with us in thanking Marc for his years of dedicated service to the Green and Gold. Sean Walsh goes for the top job: It has also been announced that the Kerry GAA County Board have nominated Sean Walsh to contest the Presidency of the GAA next year. Walsh, who was Chairman of the Kerry County Board for 10 years from 1998, was beaten for the top job last time out be current President Aogan O’Fearghail. Walsh has also served as Vice Chair and Chair of the Munster Council and on a number of Croke Park Committees and it currently Chairman of the National Referees Development Committee.
Leaving the venue until the finalists are known always leads to this debate. All sports need a home and surely Austin Stack Park is the home of the GAA in Kerry just as Mounthawk Park is the home of Kerry soccer. All finals are played there and for the last few years we moved the Schoolboys and Girls finals there too. All clubs know this before they take part in the competitions.
BEST OF LUCK TO NA GAEIL: Best wishes to Na Gaeil who take on GlenbeighGlencar in the Castleisland Mart Junior Premier Football Final which makes a unique curtain raiser to the Senior final next Sunday. This is the first time that this competition has been branded the Premier Junior. Na Gaeil topped Division 4 of the County League and are a young up and coming side. They have seen off Cromane, Ballymac, Annascaul and Emmets to reach the decider. The winners will receive the Tom Keane Perpetual Cup, named in honour of the late Tom. The game throws in at 1.30pm.
Back to the GAA and if they don’t want to set Austin Stacks Park as the venue they could look at alternate years between Tralee and Killarney. However knowing Murphy’s Law two South Kerry teams would probably in the final when it’s set for Tralee! However they could swop and do the following two years at the alternate venue. However as you see this becomes complicated so I think that nominating Austin Stacks Park as the venue every year for the County Championship Final is the best way. One thing the GAA does need to do is to work with the business around Austin Stacks Park as big match days do impact negatively on their business. Cars take up parking spaces at the Horan Centre and other areas the usually shoppers will use. There is no point in saying that just because you bring a big crowd to a venue it is a win / win for all. But that can be sorted with dialog. The Garvey’s County Senior Football Championship final is the show piece for sport and it should be played at the headquarters of the game and that is Austin Stacks Park. IN THE SQAURE: Marc bows out: Staying with the GAA and it has just been announced that Mark O’Se has called time on his Kerry career. And what a glittering career it was stretching back to 1998. He made his Championship debut in 2002 and ends with 5 All Ireland medals from his 88 Championship appearances, sharing the record with his brother Tomas. Between Championship and League games Marc played an amazing 176 times for Kerry and on top of all his medals he was Player of the Year and Texaco Player of the Year in 2007.

The u14’s played Austin Stacks in Round 3 of the Town League and came away with a big win. This put them into Sunday’s final where they played John Mitchels. This was a cracking game and ended Rahilly’s 6-09 to John Mitchels 4-12. 4v of the u16’s were involved with Tralee District who defeated East Kerry in the u16 County District Championship last weekend. Ladies training continues as normal. The u14 Girls were in Dingle for the final of the Strettford End North Kerry Division 3. STACKS NEWS: The u6’s have only 3 weeks left and their big game is the final of the Jimmy Barry Cup on October 30th. The 7/8/9/10’s had a great time in the Siobhan Cotter Blitz in Churchill. The club has retained the Siobhan Cotter Trophy following the combined score of their teams. The u12’s are getting ready for the Na Piarsaigh Club Blitz in Cork on October 22nd while the u12’s annual Charlie Healy Cup brought their season to a close. The final was won by the team captained by Donnacha Og Sayers with Josh Lynch named Man of the Match in the final. Michael Lesniak was the Man of the Match in the Plate Final. The B’s were unlucky to lose away to Kerins O’Rahillys while u16 members were on the County Championship Plate final winners. DAMIEN TO DEFEND HIS BANNA TITLE: The Kerry Motor Club Banna Winter Rally will once again draw a huge crowd of Kerry rally fans to North Kerry on November 13th. The Banna Resort has been sponsoring the rally for nearly 4 decades and this year another bumper entry is expected with the action taking place on two stages, ran three times and service on the seafront in Ballyheigue. The Rally is the final round of the Top Part West Coast Rally Championship with several awards still to be decided. The vastly experienced Jakes Kelly is the Clerk of the Course and has picked two very challenging stages that will be run three times giving drivers a big challenge but limited road milage. Speaking on the route he said that “the stages are exactly what the drivers expect for the Banna Rally. Fast flowing roads with plenty of challenging twists and turns added to the

Kerry’s Damien Fleming alongside his Cavan driver Stephen McCann won the event last season in a Subaru Impreza which they have subsequently sold. The have acquired an R5 spec Ford Fiesta which they will be debuting at the Banna event. Damien is looking forward to leading out the rally. “It will be an honour to be first on the road in one of my local rallies. It will be our first time in the left hand drive car which should be interesting!! The plan is to test the car in Banna with a view to entering the Irish Tarmac Championship next season”. Regulations and entry forms can be downloaded from www.kerrymotorclub.com TRALEE RIDERS IN CYCLOCROSS ACTION: The first round of the Munster Cyclocross League took place in Fota in Cork with a number of Tralee riders in action. Cyclocross is mostly off road and is getting very popular and Killarney CC’s Richard Maes was the top Kerry rider in 2nd place in the A race. From a Tralee point of view Tralee Manor West’s Cormac Daly was 14th. In the B race Tralee Manor West’s Cormac Daly was 14th with Killarney CC’s Patrick Clifford in 20th and John Crowley 23rd. In the B race Tralee Manor West’s Shane O’Brien finished 21st.. Kerry also had great success in the Ladies race with Tarbert’s Michelle Geoghan winning the race, riding for Orwell Wheelers with Kenmare’s Lisa Staplebroek was third. AT THE DOGS: This Friday night at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium it’s the first rounds of the Kelliher’s Toyota Garage Tralee A1 current 525 yards. On Saturday night there are the first rounds of the Track Supporters Club A3 confined 525 yards for 48 runners with a winners prize of e6000 if the stake fills. Entries are also been taken for the Red Mills Open Unraced Bitch Stake which begins on November 11th. HALF THE ODDS IN PLENTY IN GLIN: Half the Odds trained by Kevin Barry was the winner of the Desmond Cup at Glin’s Coursing meeting last weekend. He had been impressive in the run up to the final and didn’t have to compete here as opponent Crafty Gonzalo was withdrawn due to injury. Donegal pipped Kerry in the Derby Trial when Do It Barney just got the better of Vals Image. Pumpkin Abbie collected her Trial Stake ticket while in the All Age Bitch Final going to Corbraighe Holly. Bexhill River took the Glin Derby with Offshore View winning the Glin Oaks. This weekend the action heads to Ballyheigue with the action getting underway this Friday morning. MLLOW BEAT TRALEE WITH THE OVAL BALL: In Rugby’s J2 Mallow defeated Tralee in a game where both sides really wanted the win. The Cork side ran out 23-16 winners. This Sunday the Tralee side will take on Crosshaven in the Challenge Shield. Tralee Ladies had an impressive 61-0 win over Dungarvan-Youghal while in the Gleeson League Section A there was a 41-5 points win for the Tralee boys.
SOCCER CORNER: KERRY DISTRICT LEAGUE NEWS: 17’s Last Game? The Kerry 17’s take on Limerick in UL at 6pm on Saturday, not Sunday as previously announced, in the 1st round of the Shield. This is a knock out competition so this could be their last game. There is no doubt that while this has been a tough season it has been a very worthwhile one from a soccer point of view. We now have 20 players who have experience at the highest level available to them. I, for one, really hope that the KDL enters a team next season. With the 15’s National League starting in August 2017 we could see Kerry team’s in 15’s, 17’s and even 19’s in a few years. Surely then it’s time for a serious debate regarding a League of Ireland Kerry team! FAI Junior Cup Draw: The 3rd Round of the FAI Junior Cup (Kerry/Clare/Desmond area) has seen Mitchels Avenue taking on Killarney Celtic and Tralee Dynamos away to Avenue in Clare with the games set for the weekend of October 22nd and 23rd. FAI OSCAR TRAYNOR /YOUTHS DRAW: Kerry are drawn in Group C of the 2016/2017 Oscar Traynor Trophy alongside Limerick, Desmond League and West Cork. Kerry open their campaign away to Limerick on November 5th/ 6th. Kerry are then at home to the Desmond League and finish away West Cork in January. In the Youths Kerry are in with the Clare and Limerick District Leagues. First up is an away trip to Limerick at the end of the month their opening game. SCHOOLBOYS NEWS: The Park Premier side have progressed to the next round of the Skechers 13’s National Cup but their Division 1 side and Tralee Dynamos went out. In the 15’s National Cup Tralee Dynamos had a very good away win at Shannon Town to progress to the next round, just one win away from the Last 32. WARRIORS WIN ON THE ROAD: Two win from their first three games has seen Irish TV Warriors enjoy a great opening to their SuperLeague campaign. Their first away win came in a 77-59 victory over KUBS in Dublin. While the margin of victory looks like it was an easy game the facts are that there was only a point between the sides with just 5 minutes to go in the third quarter. The Tralee side led by 10 at the end of first quarter 25-15 and were up by 8 at the break 4032. Kieran Donaghy, Darragh O’Hanlon, Ryan Leonard and Dusan Bogdanovic were impressive for the Warriors and with Trae Patterson hitting vital baskets, including a big three at the end of the third saw them lead by 48-57. They never looked back and took the win which coach Mark Bernsen saying he is happy with the improvement from his side. “We shared the ball extremely well and were unselfish on the floor. While we are still a work in progress we are all working together towards an end and we will have to step up as we will face better teams in the coming weeks. But it was a very good win on the road”. This weekend The Warriors are away with all the fixtures in the National Basketball Arena. Their opponents are SSE Airtiricity Moycullen. The following weekend is the big Cup clash against GCD Swords Thunder at home at 8pm.
ST BRENDAN’S BASKETBALL NEWS: In the Boys Under 16’s Division 3 St Brendan’s were 49-37 point winners away to Ballybunion Wildcats. In the Boy’s 14’s Division 2 St Paul’s defeated the Tralee boys 22-16 while the Girls went down in Division 3 to St Anne’s. There is action in most of the underage Leagues this week and training continues at the normal times. BADMINTON IS BACK: The AGM of the Kerry Badminton Association took place this week in the Grand Hotel. This was the 80th AGM of the association which saw a nice synergy as the first meeting took place at the KPH, Nelson Street which is now Ashe Street on November 4th 1936. Tralee’s Marion O’Neill is again the Treasurer for the coming season with Junior Griffin from Listowel being the Chairman and Kingdom Castleisland’s Brid Murphy the Secretary. ON THE GREEN: Tralee: The Munster Classic Final was won by Anton O’Callaghan with 41 points. 2nd was Fergus Kelly with Mike Sheehy 3rd. 4th place went to Martin Mitchell with the Best Gross to Killian Woulfe. In the Singles Club Championship Billy Morrissey was the winner from Eddie Enright and Michael Dowling. John Keane Jr was 4th with Graham Spring taking the Best Gross prize.
