Billy simplifies and explains Todays Technology I sometimes work from home... Can I access my work computer at home ? If your workplace has a fixed ip address you can setup remote desktop on your computer provided it is running Windows XP or above. Another solution which is easier is to download teamviewer, this is free at the moment for non commercial use. There is also another software package called VNC but you must have some knowledge of IP Address.. What is the best TV combo box with a 7 day guide? At the moment there is no reliable combo box that has a 7 day guide without upgrading the firmware .You can get a Sab combo box installed at the moment and it seems to be very reliable. Also if you connect it to the internet you can update the satellite channel list . From what I hear there are talks of bringing out a new box called Saorview Connect. I have not seen any specifications at the moment but there are talks of it having a 7 day guide for both satellite and terrestrial and a recording feature. No release date has been set. LEGAL MATTERS CORNER MIRIAM MC GILLICUDDY ANSWERS YOUR LEGAL QUERIES Tralee Advertiser Scenario 28th September 2016.

Fiona is suffering bullying and harassment at work and it has been ongoing for some period of time. She has asked the perpetrator to stop the behavior but hey will not do so. The bullying which is by a coworker includes snide remarks, shouting and roaring at her, pointing fingers at her and making comments about her including her appearance behind her back. Fiona dreads going into work and is presently out on a week’s stress related leave. Bullying has been defined as repeated inappropriate behaviour that undermines a person’s right to dignity at work. It can be done by one or more persons and it is aimed at an individual or a group to make them feel inferior to other people. Bullying can be verbal bullying, physical bullying or cyber bullying which is carried out on the internet or mobile phones, through social networking sites, email and texts. It can take many different forms such as: • Social exclusion and isolation • Damaging someone’s reputation by gossip or rumours • Intimidation • Aggressive or obscene language • Repeated requests with impossible tasks or targets It is important in these situations for a diary to be kept of dates and times of incidents. A Staff handbook will usually have all the information on the procedure to be taken if one is suffering bullying and harassment at work. It usually sets out first an informal procedure involving management in the workplace and seeing if a solution can be reached. If this does not work it ha to go to the formal procedure which involves Fiona making a written complaint with times and dates. If this does not work then Fiona may have to take matters further through the workplace relations Commission or else a personal injury case. One has only two years from the date of the injury or the date of discovery of the injury to bring a claim. Time runs in relation to a case until a case has been submitted to the Injuries Board and they acknowledge the application as complete. The injuries board may decide they cannot deal with the claim as it appears to involve some psychiatric injury If you have a question we would love to hear it please email mirs@gofree.indigo.ie. 15 YEARS OF STONEY ROAD PRESS AT SIAMSA TÍRE EXHIBITION IN OCTOBER

15 Years of Stoney Road Press opens on Friday 30th of September at 6pm in Siamsa Tíre, Tralee. This exhibition showcases a small sample of the past 15 years of collaborations with artists at the studio situated in Dublin’s Docklands. Over 40 painters and sculptors have worked with Stoney Road through the years on a variety of projects, resulting in a wonderful portfolio of limited edition prints, letterpress books, sculptures and tapestries. This exhibition is a wonderful medley of works by some of Ireland’s leading contemporary artists, Alice Maher, Felim Egan, Richard Gorman, David Godbold, Dorothy Cross, Barrie Cooke and Blaise Drummond. Work by Kerry artist, Maria Simonds-Gooding is also included in the pieces on display. The artworks are in range of print media, including etching, carborundum and giclée prints. Stoney Road Press was set up by David O’Donoghue and James O’Nolan in 2001. The pair have been collaborating with Irish artists for 15 years and have worked with many of Ireland’s most established artists during that time. Stoney Road Press is the only Irish member of the IFPDA (International Fine Print Dealers’ Association) which allows them to exhibit at Print Fairs in New York, Miami, Los Angeles and Portland. In addition to the portfolio of limited edition prints, Stoney Road Press also produces letterpress books, sculptures and tapestries. A very special book made recently at the studio was ’16’ - a collaboration between Stoney Road Press, An Post and Poetry Ireland, containing newly commissioned art and poetry alongside historical poems from the time of the rising in Ireland. ’16’ was presented by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny on behalf of the Irish people to the US President, Barack Obama on Saint Patrick’s Day in the White House this year. ’16’ is on permanent display in the GPO Witness History Museum in Dublin. 15 Years of Stoney Road Press continues until the 23rd of October Check out www.stoneyroadpress.com for further information. FUN RUN A HUGE SUCCESS !!!

Over 450 runners gathered at CBS, the Green Secondary School on Sunday last to participate in their annual 3k and 5k fun run in aid of their astro pitch development. This event was organised by teachers Helen Kelliher and Karen Tobin and kindly sponsored by Lee Strand and Norman Foley of Spar. After a showery start to the morning, the day brightened and the event was a fantastic success. Participants ranged from 3 years old to 87 years young and it was great to see so many families taking part. Martin O’ Sullivan was on hand to MC the event and provide the music while Billy O’ Brien provided a mass warm up for all the children to make sure they were ready to rock when the gun was blown by rising running star Shona Heaslip and Kerry footballer Barry-John Keane. The Tommy Markham cup also arrived tightly secured by minor players Stefan Okunbor, Kieran O’ Dywer and Tomas O’ Connor .CBS students Sean O’ Donoghue, Niall O’ Mahony also brought their silverware along for winning the minor B Hurling Championship a couple of weeks back. Bouncy castles and face painting kept the smallies entertained and everyone enjoyed some post race refreshments in the new spacious extension of the school. Tommy O’ Brien retained his 5k title from last year in an impressive time of 16.16 minutes. Hot on his heels was Arthur Fitzgerald(16.42) and the legend Steven Griffin was third home (17.12 ) Sharon Cahill also retained her title as first female in a time of18.40. Charlotte Costello was second (21.07) and Liz Heaslip came in 3rd. (21.27) The winner of the first past pupil of CBS went to Fran McElligott and the international student winner was Patrick Ventura. The first national school pupil in the 5k was Donagh Stephenson of Spa National School. The first year winner was David Callaghan, second year, Sean Horan, third year, Luke Chester, 4th year, Cian Bardon, fifth year, Daire Lowth. and 6th year, Paul Moore. MICHAEL HEALY-RAE WELCOMES MINISTER FOR HEALTH PROPOSAL

I welcome very much the proposal by Minister for Health with regard to rural GPs being given additional supports from central government to run their practices. It is a well known fact that many rural GPs were struggling to the extent that they were considering no longer providing the service and many of our rural villages and towns were actually in danger of losing their service. The new proposals, if properly resourced, will ensure the continuation of the great service that our local GPs give to their patients over the decades. This was an issue that I had been campaigning for over a long period of time as it was so important to our communities, in particular in rural County Kerry.

JOE, THE HAPPY SNAPPER, IS ON THE MEND! Joe Hanley , Tralee’s famous Happy Snapper and Top Photographer has sent The Tralee Advertiser word that he is on the mend after his recent operation and will be back down in Tralee this weekend “Many thanks to my friends Betty O Mahony and Family Fenit and Helen and Patricia , The Kerry Book Shop.for always feeding my dog Snapper , and a big thank you to all my neighbours .... Charity Corner KNOW YOUR RIGHTS: NEW EARNED INCOME TAX CREDIT Question I am self-employed and make a tax return each year. What is the new tax credit for self-employed people? How do I apply for it? Answer From 1 January 2016, a new Earned Income tax credit of €550 is available for self-employed people (in addition to the normal personal tax credits and other reliefs). Proprietary directors who are not eligible for the PAYE employee tax credit can also claim this credit.

in association with

Tralee

We are currently LOOKING FOR DONATIONS to our Shop in Ashe St.

This Earned Income Tax Credit is calculated at 20% of your self-employed (or earned) income. It does not include any earned income that is taken into account for the PAYE employee tax credit. Note that if you also qualify for the PAYE tax credit, the combined value of both tax credits cannot exceed €1,650. The maximum relief for 2016 is €550. However, if your earned income is below €2,750, the tax credit is restricted to 20% of the income. For example, if your total earned income is €2,000 your maximum tax credit is 20% of this or €400. As a self-employed person you pay tax under the self-assessment system. Under this system (known as “Pay and File”) you must file your return, complete a self-assessment, and you must pay the balance of tax outstanding for the previous year. At the same time, you must pay preliminary tax (an estimate of tax due for your current trading year) for the current year. When you pay preliminary tax for 2016 you can include the Earned Income tax credit in your calculations. However the new Earned Income tax credit is not available for the 2015 tax year. The date for payment of tax and filing of returns is 31 October each year. For 2016, if you file your tax return online using the Revenue Online Service (ROS), the due date is extended to 10 November 2016.

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN TRALEE... TRALEE FOOD FESTIVAL GOES DOWN A TREAT !

THE second annual Tralee Food Festival last weekend was a great success with appetites satisfied and thirsts quenched throughout the town. The extended Food Trail incorporating restaurants, hotels, pubs and cafés showcased the excellent culinary offerings of the county capital, while the Craft Beer Trail confirmed the growth in demand for new brews. This year’s festival was launched by Tralee Chamber Alliance CEO, Kieran Ruttledge, at a Guinness and Spa Seafoods event in Kirby’s Brogue Inn on Friday night. The chefs who hosted the cookery demonstrations in the Square on Saturday both entertained and educated the palates of the large crowd that was in attendance during the day. Once again, similar to last year, the weather played ball and the Market Stalls in the Square were thronged by foodies interested in sampling the great local produce on display. Kieran Ruttledge thanked all the sponsors of this year’s Tralee Food Festival and the organiser, David Scott.

BALLYGARRY NAMED “WEDDING VENUE OF THE YEAR “ At the recent Keeling gold medal awards Ballygarry House Hotel & Spa was named Ireland’s Wedding Venue of the year!! Bexblah Beauty This page is sponsored by Munster Robes & Kitchens

Hello my beautiful friends, I hope you’re all having a great week!

This week we’ll be talking about a new obsession of mine, LASHES. I’ve have recently became obsessed with false lashes. I think they complete any makeup look and especially great in pictures. Whenever I’m doing makeup for pictures for my blog or instagram, I find that adding lashes really makes the eyes pop. Having a false lash obsession ain’t cheap though. I have a few favourites that are all different price points. Also when it comes to lashes, depending on the quality and how well you mind them, you can get a few wears out of them. I always make sure to take off my lashes, put them in a safe place and clean them after each use with some eye makeup remover. So here are a few of my favourite falsies!

The Eylure 120’s are my ultimate go to lashes for a night

out. If I ever am stuck I always have a pair of these on hand. They usually cost me about 7 euro and I get about 5 wears out of them. I usually get them in Boots and there’s also usually a 3 for 2 offer on them!

The Ardell Demi Wispie are my number

1 go to lashes at the moment, so many people have said they look like my own lashes and they’re perfect for daytime. Not only this but they’re only €5 in Penny’s and you can get multiple wears out of them!

I always use duo glue with whatever lashes I use so when I saw that Duo had their own lashes I absolutely had to try them. I got them in CH Chemist last week for 13 euro and wore them all easter weekend. I love them and I got so many compliments on them. They are a bit more on the pricier side but I’ve worn them 4 times already and they’re still perfect.

So that’s it for this week everyone, if you have any questions or want to know more you can email me at bexblahbeauty@gmail.com, follow my Facebook page ‘Bexblah Blog’, Instagram @Bexblah, Snapchat @Bexblah

BEXBLAH

HELLO MY STRONG FRIENDS!

Hope you’re all having a great week. This week I’m going to to talk about the importance of knowing what you’re doing at the gym! I’m going to be starting a new fitness plan since I’m home from Ayia Napa so i’ll be talking all about that next week.

When it comes to going to a gym, knowing why you’re there and having specific goals is essential. There’s no point going to the gym and hopping from machine to machine not really knowing what you’re doing or why you’re there, you’re wasting your own time and money. I’m not saying you have to go out and spend a fortune on a personal trainer 5 days a week, unless you want to. But I am saying definitely talk to someone with knowledge so that you can gain the most from your money spent. Here are my top tips for getting the most out of going to the gym…

FITNESS!

from going to the gym? Do you want to lose body fat? Gain muscle? Put on weight? Knowing what you want from going to the gym is the first step. 2. Talk to a trainer: Whether it’s one of the people who work in your gym or another personal trainer, I think it’s very important to talk to someone in the know about what you want to achieve from going to the gym. Most gyms I have been in offer free consultations with their trainers where you can talk about what you want etc. Otherwise you can contact a personal trainer and have a once off consultation where they will make you a gym programme and talk to you about food and your own personal diet. You can go to a personal trainer as often as you like, you don’t have to go 5 days a week. 3. Set goals: Once you meet the trainer make sure to set goals that fit you and what you want from going to the gym. And I’m not talking long term unachievable goals, O’m talking realistic short term ones to keep you motivated. 4. ALWAYS HAVE A PLAN: Whenever you are going to the gym, always have a plan of what you are going to do, for example, leg day, hiit cardio, arms and chest etc. By having a plan you know exactly what you are there to do and it will keep you on track and focused.

MEAL OF THE WEEK

This week’s meal of the week is LUNCH/ BRUNCH! It’s a simple quick easy and filling meal with all the essentials, protein, carbs and healthy fats! BAGEL WITH CREAM CHEESE, SMOKED SALMON, SPINACH AND POACHED EGG. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

1 Country Kitchen Bagel Slim Philadelphia Light Spinach & Rocket Mix Smoked Salmon 1 Egg

Poach the egg, I use the little poachies to poach my eggs. You can get them in supervalu, they make poaching eggs so much easier! Toast the bagel. Spread some philadelphia light on the bagel. Add smoked salmon, spinach and poached egg on top. Season with salt and pepper, I use Himalayan Pink Salt as it’s better for you. And you’re done! A simple healthy yummy lunch or brunch!

1. Sit down, and ask yourself what you want: What do you want to gain

HEALTHY RECIPES for 2016 Well folks I hope ye got down to the food festival this year . There was quite a good crowd around all day, watching the cooking demos, myself included doing mc for the lads in a three chef demo. The taste trail was very busy and great feed back the recipes we did on the day (the recipes are on the blog www.traleeculinarygangsters.com). So this week we will look at crab apples (in season at the moment) you will find wild crab apples all around Kerry

HOMEMADE CRABAPPLE JELLY Apples picked off a tree, or bought at the market • Cinnamon sticks (optional) • Sugar Wash, stem and coarsely chop or just quarter the apples and put them in a large pot. (Don’t bother to peel or core them.) Add enough water to just cover them and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes until the apples are very soft. Mash the whole lot with a big spoon or potato masher and cook for another few minutes. Spoon the mixture into a colander lined with cheesecloth set over a large bowl or pot, and let the juice drain out, stirring the pulp to extract as much juice as possible. Measure the resulting juice into a pot (this is easy if you drain it into a pot with measurements marked on the side) and add ¾ cup sugar for every cup of juice. Bring to a boil over high heat and boil rapidly, stirring often, until the mixture reaches 210°F on a candy thermometer, or until a small amount placed on a cold plate and put into the freezer turns to gel. This should take about 20 minutes. While it’s still hot, pour the jelly into hot jars, adding a cinnamon stick to each jar if you like; skim off any foam that rises to the top with a spoon, and seal. Set aside to cool. Process in a hot water bath or store in the fridge INGREDIENTS 3 pounds crab apples 1 orange 1 box (15 oz.) raisins 1 cup apple cider vinegar 2 1/2 cups brown sugar, firmly pressed 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon cloves Core and dice crab apples. Peel and dice orange. Combine all ingredients in large pan. Bring to a boil; then simmer, covered until the crab apples are tender (about 30 minutes). Immediately ladle the hot mixture into 4 pint jars (or 8 half-pint jelly jars); cover with syrup, filling to within 1/4 inch of jar top. Wipe jar rim, and put lids on. . Process in boiling water bath for 10 minutes.

IT’S ONLY A JOKE A GOLDEN OLDIE BLONDE JOKE...

A blonde called her boyfriend and said, “Please come over here and help me… I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can’t figure out how to get it started.” Her boyfriend asked, “What is it supposed to be when it’s finished?” The blonde said, “According to the picture on the box, it’s a tiger.” Her boyfriend decided to go over and help with the puzzle. She let him in and showed him where she had the puzzle spread all over the table. He studied the pieces for a moment, then looked at the box, then turned to her and said, “First of all, no matter what we do, we’re not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a tiger.” He took her hand and said, “Second, I’d want you to relax… Let’s have a nice cup of hot chocolate, and then…” He sighed, “let’s put all these Frosted Flakes back in the box.”

AN AMERICAN SOLDIER IS DEPLOYED TO IRAQ...

An American soldier is deployed to Iraq around 2005. One of the first things he noticed upon arrival was that women walked about 10 paces behind their husbands. He had never seen this before and asked his commanding officer why they did that. “Iraq isn’t as advanced as the US and women don’t have equal rights here, they must walk behind their men as a display of subservience.” replied his CO. Ten years passed and the soldier was once again deployed to Iraq, this time to fight the Islamic State. When he returned, however, he was surprised to see that the women now walked about 10 paces in front of the women. Figuring that some societal change must have occurred and elevated women’s status, he decided to ask an Iraqi man what prompted the change. The man replied, “landmines.”

It was late night and the mother had gone to sleep, after 1 or 2 glasses of wine too many !. Little Johnny waddles into her room, and says to her “Mommy! I need to go whisper!” Dazed, the mother slurs “If you need to whisper, go do it in daddy’s ear.”

A MARRIED COUPLE IS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY DOING 80KM/H..

The husband is behind the wheel. His wife looks over at him and says, “Honey, I know we’ve been married for 15 years, but, I want a divorce.” The husband says nothing but slowly increases speed to 100km/h. She then says, “I don’t want you to try to talk me out of it, because I’ve been having an affair with your best friend, and he’s a better lover than you.” Again the husband stays quiet and just speeds up as his anger increases. She says, “I want the house.” Again the husband speeds up, and now is doing 120km/h. She says, “I want the kids too.” The husband just keeps driving faster, and faster, now he’s up to 140km/h. She says, “I want the car, the checking account, and all the credit cards too.” The husband slowly starts to veer toward a bridge overpass piling, as she says, “Is there anything you want?” The husband says, “No, I’ve got everything I need.” She asks, “Really? What’s that?” The husband replies just before they hit the wall at 200km/h, “I’ve got the airbag!”

I FORGOT TO PUT THE SEAT BELT ON MY FIVE-YEAR-OLD BOY THIS MORNING

As we were leaving the parking lot, somebody shouted, “You are an irresponsible father!” I said, “Who the heck was that? Stop the car, son.”

LITTLE JOHNNY NEEDED TO GO TO THE BATHROOM So he told his mother “I need to poop!” The mother was entertaining a bunch of friends and was clearly embarrassed to hear this out loud. So Johnny’s mother leaned in and says “Next time you need to poop, say you need to whisper.” 36

FAI NATIONAl P.R.O. OF THE YEAR MINORS HOME BUT NO HOMECOMING: Firstly like everyone else in the county we send our congrartulations to Peter Keane, his management team, backroom staff and the stars of the show – the players on their historic win. What’s rare is all the more special and a 3 in a row for Kerry is an amazing achievement and has not been done since the 30’s. And with a number of players on underage again next year plus a squad coming behind them that is reckoned to be every bit as good, and in some eyes, even stronger then the 4 in a row certainly a possibility. It must also be acknowledged the these successes have come thanks to alot of work done by the developments squads under the likes of Donal Daly and Sean O’Sullivan. And of course it all starts with the club and the coaches there while having successes in the schools competitions all leads up to having a squad of skillful players that we saw in Croke Park on Sunday. Galway did put it up to them but the Kerry always had the ability to get scores easier and the goals were the difference between the sides. And David Cliffords goal will live long in the memory. So all was good on Sunday evening with the Tom Markham Cup safely tucked up and ready for his trip back to Kerry once again. Tom come home to storm! But i bet Tom was not expecting such a contraversial homecoming! It all started with question in the media and on social media on Monday about the homecoming and it was slow to emerge thar none was planned. The County Board must take the blame here for a communication failure. As an aside they have also been heavily criticised for not having bunting or flags at Austin Stacks Park which is the headquarters of the GAA in Kerry and this has to go down as a poor showing. Back to the homecoming and it then emerged that the plan is to introduce the players at the County Championship games on October 2nd. Which is great if you are going to the game but hardly gives the opportunity to families and the wider general public to fate the boys. And it has also emerged that some of the players could be required by their clubs on that date which would be a shame if the whole extended panel were not together on what is the ‘official homecoming’. The County Board is a very media savvy operation and is very good at getting the maximiun air time and print space for their games and that is their right. But the can get tetchy is they receieve any bit of negative comment. And they certainly got lots of that this week with a firestorm on social media. A statement on Sunday evening / Monday morning saying that there would not be an offical homecoming and the reason why would have cleared things up. The fact that there have been no reason given leads to speculation.

40

TRALEE ADVERTISER

Of course we must say that the players got a huge reception in Kenmare, the home of the captain, on Monday night and probably have had other nights out since then. But the lack of an official home coming and the depth of the anger of GAA supporters around county will certainly have rattled the powers that be. So what is the solution going forward? It is very important at this stage to point out that Kerry have had a very successful year. We have All Ireland titles won by the u16 girls, the Minor Hurlers and the Juniors and none had an offical homecoming. I suggest that the County Board should bring in a protocol for All Ireland wins as very few years go by without them. For all wins, apart from Senior All Ireland wins, there is a homecoming in Austin Stacks Park on the Mondaty night after the game. It would not take much to set up a reception area and it would be a safe environment for all ages. If they did not want to do this then it should be at the captains ground / town. If this became the norm it would give people the chance to make plans in advance. And it would give the public the chance to turn out and welcome the victor’s home. That really was all that everyone wanted to do last Monday! SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE TRACK: This Friday night at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium it’s the final of the Steve Kennedy Memorial A5 525 yards plus the semi-finals of the Castleisland Tyre Centre A5 525 yards. There will be no racing at the track on Saturday night but the normal Trial Session on Saturday morning will take place. The track is taking entries for the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium Supporters Club A3 confined 525 yards which starts on October 7th for 48 runners with a winner’s prize of e6000 if the stake fills. Owners must be members of the supporters club and dogs must have run at least twice at Tralee over any distance. The track is also taking entries for the Kelliher’s Garage Tralee A1 Current 525 yards which begins on Friday October 14th. IRISH TV TRALEE WARRIORS BRINGING HOOP DREAMS BACK TO TRALEE: For those of us of a certain vintage we can remember the great nights in the Tralee Sports Complex when Tralee Tigers welcomed the best basketball clubs in the country to town. The visit of St Paul’s Killarney was always an eagerly anticipated one and I reminisced about this with Terry O’Brien who was involved then and is now the Chairman of the new Warriors Club. “Myself and my late brother Donal and others were involved then and they were great times. And we are still very proud of the successes and from the mid to late 2000’s Tralee was one of the top clubs in the country. But now it’s time to look forward and we will be hoping that we get

Friday 30th September 2016

lots of support from Killarney rather than being in opposition to them!! “We have put together a very good squad in the Warriors. This has been possible with the cooperation of both Tralee clubs St Brendan’s and Tralee Imperials. We are also delighted to have Mark Bernsen back in the hot seat. And we have great sponsors on board with Irish TV leading the way alongside Garvey’s and the Sea Lodge in Waterville. It will be great see the Complex rocking to the sounds of top class basketball on Saturday nights.” Also present at the launch, held in the Wetlands was IRISH TV Commissioning Editor Brian Hurley. He said that the collaboration between the company and the Warriors was a perfect fit. “Irish TV was born out of the idea of supporting local. I am from Tralee and it gives me great pleasure to have secured the sponsorship deal with the new team, especially as Irish TV has its Munster base in the town. We know that the Warriors will be competitive and we plan to document their journey over the season and this will be broadcast on all our national and international platforms in 2017”. Kieran Donaghy is as well known from his prowess on the basketball court as he is on the GAA field. He is looking forward to the new season. “It’s been a wish of mine for a long time to have Super League basketball back in Tralee. We had a great win with St Brendan’s in the National Intermediate Cup. Tralee has a long and proud history in basketball and this is the latest chapter.” The Squad and Management: Kieran Donaghy 6’5 Guard, Michael ODonnell 6’3 Point Guard , Darragh O’Hanlon 6’3 Guard John Dowling 6’5 Centre, Trae Pemberton 6’4 Point Guard , Rick Leonard 6’7 Forward/Centre, Ryan Leonard 6’3 Shooting Guard, Darren O’Sullivan 6’2 Guard, Stephen Hanafin 5’9 Point Guard, Fergal O’Sullivan 5’11 Shooting Guard, Paul McMahon 6’3 Power Forward, Garry Fernane 6’2 Shooting Guard, Dusan Bogdanovic 6’11 Centre, Gary Murphy 6’1 Point Guard, Goran Pantovic 6’10 Centre/Power Forward. Coach - Mark Bernsen, Assistant Coaches Rick Leonard and Rob Mulcahy, Manager Jimmy Diggins, Assistant Manager Thomas O’Hanlon. The Irish TV Warriors begin their 2016/2017 Super League campaign this Friday night, September 23rd when the travel to Cork to take on UCC Demons. Their big home debut will be the following Saturday night, October 1st when Belfast Star will be the first visitors to the town. ST BRENDAN’S BASKETBALL NEWS: The training times for all the ages at St Brendan’s Basketball club have been announced and are available from all club coaches and committee members. The Academy, for 5 to 9 year olds, train on Tuesday from 5 to 6pm. The club will cater for teams, both boys and girls from u10’s to seniors. St Brendan’s are very much behind the new IRISH TV Tralee Warriors Superleague team and wish all the club members the best of luck for the coming season. SUCCESS ON THE PITCH AND PUTT COURSE: Last Saturday the National Mixed Foursomes took place in Riverdale, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary. Tralee had two pairs competing with Munster Mixed Foursomes runners-up Lisa O’Connor and Tony Blake and sister and brother pair Charlotte and Jamie Blake. Both pairs played in the afternoon session with Charlotte and Jamie returning a seven up total while Lisa and Tony returned a ten up total to claim the session prize. The Deerpark Scratch Inter Club team travelled

SPONSORED BY RON CONSTRUCTION, BUILDING & CARPENTRY SERVICES to Tipp Hill course in Tipperary town on Saturday to take on Collinstown club from Co. Westmeath. It was a tight close affair but the Killarney club came through on a five four scoreline to progress to the semi-finals. Killarney’s Deerpark Pitch & Putt Club has been invited to host the National Inter County Finals in 2018. It is twenty three years since Tralee hosted this event in 1995 and thirty years since Kerry won the Anchor Cup in 1986, Kerry’s only time to have won.

THE SOCCER CORNER:

KERRY DISTRICT LEAGUE NEWS: The Kerry U17’s sadly went down to Salthill Devon in their final away game of the season. It was a game that they hoped to get something from but stunning first goal from 25 yards, albeit with the wind and two poor goals from a defensive point of view saw the home side take the win. Kerry are at home in their final League game of season on Sunday October 2nd when they face Limerick in Mounthawk Park. They will then know who they face in the first round of the Shield the following week. The all Tralee Munster Junior Cup clash went the way of Tralee Dynamos as they enjoyed a 2-1 win over neighbours the Park. Dynamos went ahead early with a 6th minute goal from Danny Roche. Josh O’Reilly saved a Park penalty to keep his side ahead. Donagh O’Brien equalised but Dynamos won it late on. Mitchels Avenue were beaten 2-0 by Killarney Celtic in the same competition. In Denny Premier B CSKA Tralee went down 2-1 to AC Athletic while Athletico Ardfert drew 0-0 with Ballyheigue Athletic in Denny 1A. The club thanks Blennerville National School for allowing the youngsters to train in the sports hall last Sunday and well done to Ruby Foley for being named player of the week. The club was delighted with the turn out for the academy despite the bad morning. There is no Academy this weekend due to the St Pat’s Family Fun Day. St Pat’s are into the St Brendan’s Senior Championship after getting a walkover in the semi-final. They await the winners of the Ardfert v Na Gaeil semi-final. The Ladies are training under new management and Denis Healy will welcome new members. The Family Fun Day and Memorial Walk which was postponed a few weeks ago takes place this Sunday, September 25th weather permitting. Action will be in the club grounds and environs and all are welcome to attend. All proceeds on the day go to the Palliative Care Unit / Kerry Hospice. PARNELLS NEWS: Well done to all the parents who completed 1 of the 4 ‘Hurl With Me Initiatives’. All parents were

given a hurley and sliotar and introduced to the basics by Kerry Camogie players Olivia Dineen and Kerry hurler Colum Harty. The u14’s were in Dublin to take part in the Cooper All Ireland U14 Championship last Saturday on All Ireland Camogie Weekend. The Kerry girls beat Meath, Cavan ,Westmeath and Down but ran out of steam a little in semi-final against Tyrone but it was a great effort by the girls. The u6’s and u8’s had a great night in Caherslee taking on visitors Ballyheigue and Abbeydorney. The u10’s hosted the very successful North Kerry U10 Blitz last week. The u12’s defeated Rathmore, Abbeydorney and Dr Crokes in three County League Division 2 back games and are looking forward to this Saturday mornings County League Final. MIRACLE PRAYERS

Get your business noticed in Tralee’s favourite Friday read

THE MIRACLE PRAYER Dear Heart of Jesus in the past I have asked for many favours, this time I ask you this special one (mention favour). Take it dear Heart of Jesus and place it within your Heart where your Father sees it, then in his merciful eyes it will become your favour not mine. Amen. Say this prayer three times for three days and your favour will be granted. Never known to fail. Must promise publication of prayer.
