ey there I can’t believe it is already October. This was one busy and fast moving summer, but I am excited to welcome back our beautiful NorCal fall. I have said it before and I’ll say it again… if I were to describe perfect riding conditions; for me, it is this time of year that you’ll find them. Not too hot and not too cold, after surviving this past’s summer with temps over 100 that seemed to never go away - we were more than ready. As we were saying, it has been a busy year so far and we are excited about what the rest of this year has to offer and even more excited about some new things coming for next year. As all of us riders grow older and newer younger riders bring new faces into the mix. The old traditions and interests start to mix in with what the younger generation brings to the table. Some want to hold onto the past and not let go, but changes are inevitable. When we were the young ones, we brought change with us and now is no different. It is not a bad thing at all as interests change and events start to change with them keeping things fresh, new and exciting for all of us. So in my opinion for what it is worth, we are far better off encouraging the younger generation to ride their way and soon enough it will be their turn to come to grips with the generation that will follow them. This cycle is healthy and will keep this industry going into the future with new innovation. Come to think about it, the bikes today are defiantly superior in every way to what I road in the 70’s - that is, if I wanted to get out of my zip code without bringing a shop worth of tools with me. And I find it interesting that sometimes old interests becomes new again. Take the resurgence of Flat Track and Hooligan racing as an example. It has once again become very popular, if you have not been to any of these races you owe it to yourself to do so, they are a great time for the whole family. Well the weather is just right and I can’t sit in front of a computer any longer - we are going for a ride! See ya next month!

MY TWO CENTS: Wait! Where Am I?
Have you ever got to work or home and wondered how the hell you got there? That’s some scary shit when you’re on a motorcycle, and especially since I wasn’t drinking. I got to my shop (and even home!) a couple of times this week and didn’t remember the ride there! I have a lot going on right now and I’m stressed out as all hell and I think when I get on my motorcycle I’m just going through the motions. Hell - I don’t even know if I’m paying attention because I don’t remember the ride! This could be good because it might mean the ride to work or home was uneventful, which means I didn’t have some nose picking, ass scratching, texting fool almost hit me. At least that’s what I’d like to think!
mind off all the math and CAD drawings that I’ve been working on. Once we start the manufacturing of the equipment, which should be in the latter half of the month - I’ll be alright and most of the stress will be gone. Then I can get back to my normal happy, yet angry self again. I think what I need is a nice long motorcycle ride with no destination in mind – JUST GO! That reminds me…of my Brother Z Bones who stopped by the shop for surprise visit while he was on a ride. I asked “Where you going, Bro?” He said “I don’t know, I’m just gonna head up Highway 50 and maybe cruise the mountains for a while, maybe I’ll end up in Lake Tahoe - I don’t know.” I asked him “then what?” He said “I don’t know, I’ll figure it out when I get to the stop sign, maybe I’ll go north, or east. I won’t know ‘til it happens.” Then I started thinking, I had no idea how I got to work, and Z Bones had no idea where he was going! He was just going for a ride! That’s a biker for ya and that’s my two cents! Now go ride like hell, just go ride!

I stopped scheduling frame and alignment work for three weeks so I can get my CAD drawings ready for the machine shops, CNC shops and the welder. There are several shops around the country buying The Rack and Pull System and opening motorcycle frame, alignment and collision repair shops or they are adding this line to their existing shops. or this month’s ride, we originally were going to head north to the Shasta area. But the day before we were to leave, another of the seemingly endless fires broke out along I5. So, with the freeway closed and the fact that we had had enough of smoke-filled air from a couple of weeks before, we went in the opposite direction, back down to Oakhurst and unfinished business. Last month, we wanted to go to Glacier Point, but SR41 was closed because of the Yosemite fires. They were now
contained, so we made the best of our opportunity.
Leaving Sac Town on 99 South, we turned east on SR219, made our way to SR132 and pulled up later at the LaGrange Saloon and Grill - an old Western establishment that offered up some great grub. The pork shanks and fish tacos were excellent. It used to be called Louie’s Place, but the longtime owners sold and it was renamed. Weekend bands and other events are a common fare.

From there it was a beautiful evening back country ride down Mercer Falls Road. Then a short moonlight ride on 49 got us to our weekend digs, the Yosemite Sierra Inn - a clean, comfy place with a Denny’s right next door. continued....

way through the shrub strewn valley. After some lunch and a brew or two at the Stonehouse Tavern, we made our way over to SR168 and hauled butt up the side of the mountain, really enjoying the fine sweepers on this smooth four-lane blacktop! About a half dozen miles from the lake, it’s back to the two-lane twisties and more fun. Arriving at our destination, we pulled into a nice shady area along the lake and took a short butt break. The lake was pretty packed with lots of boaters, kayaks and plenty of swimmers, all having a good time on the smooth waters. Seems like a popular weekend hangout. Making our way back to Bandit Town for the BBQ, we ran into our new friend Jackie again. We met her that morning. She is the owner of the Dirty Donkey Bar in Oakhurst. She lent her expertise to the event which went off without a hitch. If you’re over this way, drop on by her place! Whitey Morgan’s band was tight and on-the-money, ending the night appropriately with ‘Waitin’ ‘Round To Die’. Check out the video. We had a great time hanging out with a crowd of mostly ‘good ole boys’ and other friendly folk. The Bandit Town USA venue is a reproduction of an old Western town built in the 1970’s. It reminds us of another Western style music and events venue, Pappy and Harriet’s down in Pioneertown. Yucca Valley is close by if you’re wondering. So, after some great music and BBQ, we had a nice leisurely, starlit ride back to Oakhurst. It was time to head back home, so the next morning we had breakfast at the Sweetwater Steakhouse and headed back through Hornitos to Sac Town USA. Later! Article contributed by Chuck and Cindy Loseth
Whitey Morgan Band
In the morning, we were off to Glacier Point and if you’re into two lane woodsy rides, this should do you just fine. Lots of twists and turns up SR41 and then the same on Glacier Point Road. There were still sections on the road where you could not only see the devastation of the fires but could still smell the burnt wood and ash. Lots of the pink fire retardant could also be seen on stretches along the road. Glacier Point is one of the most impressive places we’ve ever been. God’s handiwork on full display. Half Dome and the surrounding granite mountains, the water falls, wow! We picked up some groceries before leaving town, found a flat rock, and had ourselves a picnic. Hard to beat the view! After hiking around a bit, we mounted up and enjoyed that same great ride in the opposite

direction. Before leaving Sac, we knew that one of our favorite country musicians, Whitey Morgan was playing in North Fork. (FYI-the geographical center of California.) We couldn’t get tickets for this 2nd Annual Birthday Bash, so the following morning we rode down to the Bandit Town USA venue on the chance that somebody might be looking to dump a couple. Sure enough, we got lucky, and a guy had two to sell. Yeah! Since it was an allday affair with several bands, including Alex Williams, we would go for a little day ride up to Shaver Lake. Road 222 out of North Fork will take you down past Bass Lake to the town of Auberry. Again, another great two-laner. Twists and curves galore as you make your

19TH ANNUAL SARAH RENEE PHILLIPS MEMORIAL RUN August 25 (Vacaville): On this day, we rode with Sarah’s family to Eleanor Nelson Park to visit a lovingly landscaped section among a eucalyptus grove dedicated as ‘Sarah’s Garden’. For the past nineteen years, motorcycles ride along the bicycle path to pay their respects to the memory of Sarah (6/8/86 – 4/6/00) - the daughter of ABATE #17 President Glenn Phillips. Later riders feasted on a BBQ lunch and enjoyed live music from Savannah Blue. REDWOOD RUN / BLUE LAKE RALLY September 1-2 (Blue Lake): Okay - let me catch those of you up that have not been following along with the Redwood Run tribulations this year. First off, many of you might be questioning that the Redwood Run was held in September this year. This is our understanding of how it all went down this year. First the owners of Riverview Ranch property in Piercy did not welcome us back this year which caused the organizers (all of which are volunteers, by the way) to scramble to secure a new location. After some lengthy effort on their part, it looked as though the new location for the Redwood Run would be at Cooks Valley just a few miles north of the old location in Piercy. All was moving forward smoothly until
somebody started to complain to the county about the event being held there, no doubt it was somebody who had watched SOA once and said not in MY back yard. End result was the county pulled the permit and left the annual Redwood Run high and dry once again. Long story short, it was fortunate that at the last minute - Blue Lake Casino stepped in and offered to host this long-standing run on their property. Now we will be the first to say that this is not the Redwood Run that we are all accustomed to - but as a standalone event, the Blue Lake Casino venue was quite good. Not to mention, it was very nice to have been accepted in while many other businesses in California often will turn a large group of bikers away.
Thunder Roads Magazine® Northern California 14
As it turned out, Terri and I had a blast at this event! There was a lot going on! There were two outdoor stages and bars with the main stage within close access to the casino and the Kickstand Lounge which was within walking or riding distance within the venue and close to the Mad River. There were a variety of vendors, plenty of flat tent camping areas continued...

As we were preparing to head home from the rally, we talked to a few of the organizers who told us that they are already working on securing a location and returning to Southern Humboldt for a June Redwood Run! And since this run went off so well at Blue Lake Casino, there is a possibility that this September run could return as well. We think that would be great and would love to have the excuse to head north for both events. Stay tuned!! Article and photos by Stan and Terri Hill. Additional photos contributed by Tina DeKruse of Awesome Photography and RV parking – something for everyone! And if you wanted, Blue Lake Casino and Resort was right there for a chance to win some cash or to just grab a nice warm meal. And to top that off - it did not matter which way you road in from - you could count on some great roads and scenic views. The turnout was not huge but most that we talked to were having and making it a great time. And there was no lack of entertainment on and off the stage, that was for sure.
Check out ‘Redwood Run / Blue Lake Motorcycle at .com Rally’ video on
We have to really hand it to all of the hard working volunteers that have been working tirelessly to keep the Redwood Run alive. They are all a bunch of fighters and we all need to respect and understand that they are fighting for this event on our behalf so that we can look forward to the Redwood Run and its traditions rolling forward long into the future. It is easy to sit on the sidelines being an easy chair quarterback – smack talking about the event on social media. You may not agree with all that the organizers do; but the bottom line is unless you are willing to stand and work beside them all year long - investing your spare time - with no expectations other than to help provide an opportunity to the youth of Humboldt County then you’re not qualified to criticize. So how can you sit back and judge when you have no knowledge or understanding of the bureaucratic hurdles that they have to go through in order to make this event happen? We’re not a fan of this realization and we hate to break it to you - but it is not 1977 anymore. Thunder Roads Magazine® Northern California 16

Airbrushing – Part One If I had a dollar for everyone who has asked me, ‘can you teach me how to airbrush?’ - I would be very wealthy. Airbrushing can be dated as far back as our ancient ancestors blew pigments through hollowed out bones on to their cave walls. In more current times, (circa 1890) they were used for re-touching photograph. Jumping ahead to the 1930’s, George Petty and Alberto Vargas were two artists that gave America what we now call pinup girls. Today, my favorites are Olivia and Hajime Sorayama. A word of caution, their artwork is intended for adults only! Ok, I am not trying to give you a history lesson, there are literally thousands of artists who have contributed to this art form for centuries. In its most basic format there are three pieces of equipment needed an airbrush, compressor, and an air line connecting the two. Airbrushes can be divided into two broad categories single action and double action. Single action airbrushes do not allow you to set or manipulate air to material ratios. When you pull the trigger, you can only control the total volume of air/paint ratio. The more you pull back the more air/paint you get. Dual action airbrushes allow the artist to control the amount of air and the amount of material independently. This allows for an infinite number of spray patterns. When the trigger is pushed down, you control air flow. The more you push down, the more air. For material you pull the trigger back (hence double-action). A couple of considerations, 1) Single action brushes are less expensive, however you will be very limited for any fine renderings, 2) I personally do not know any professional who use single action brushes in custom motor arts. The reason is control. The more you can control the more accurate the outcome and 3) material delivery systemI do not like siphon feeds because force-fit fittings change. Over time, the constant wear effects the material delivery. At the very least, stay with double action, gravity feeds. Our next concern is which manufacturer will give me the most bang for my buck? To keep some objectivity, I asked Google which manufacturers produce the most air brushes. The names that kept coming up were Iwata, Badger, Paashe, and Thayer & Chandler. Ok, lets further narrow our choices. Let’s start with the type of material we will be shooting. There are two types of paint you will use; they are waterborne (which includes acrylics, inks, water colors, etc) and solvent borne (which includes urethanes, polyurethane bases, etc.) Should you decide to use solvent borne, check with the manufacturer as to whether they use solvent resistant “O” rings. If not, your air brush will dissolve itself. Stay tuned for Airbrushing - Part Two in the next issue. If You Can See What I Can See - You Might Be Riding On The Back of a Harley Pacific Ocean Coastline with the Compass Riders
SF Golden Gate
Curt & Cyndee Ready to Ride
Ride Leaders Michael Paul and Poppie
We Ride - long distance, short distance, weekends and vacations. We are on the bike as often as we can be. We joined the Compass Riders for their Nor Cal Pacific Coast Surfs Up three day weekend ride. Our ride leaders were Michael Paul and his lady Poppie. We rode approximately 750 miles, most along the northern Pacific Ocean Coastline. We stopped for a break almost every 2 hours and were encouraged to sightsee and take many photos. I am a lifetime local Nor Cal girl. I had already been to some of the places on this ride, so I thought I’d sit back, relax and see some of the same things again. It turned out that most were places that I often passed and never stopped at. When this trip was all over, I was elated and exhausted from having so much fun. This was a great ride and I recommend it to all riders. The first morning started with meeting friends and strangers, saying hello, visiting and eating breakfast together. There was a safety meeting with a reminder about the responsibility to stay together, and be aware of who is ahead of and behind you. Time for kick stands up and the large group of 29 people, 19 bikes and 1 car were on the road, all riding off to Ft. Bragg. One of the first sights to catch my attention was the unique Stevenson Bridge, built in 1923. Today it is a local landmark, fully covered in Graffiti. It’s one of only three bridges in California that utilizes an architectural design known as the overhead tie arch. Quickly we were riding through the hills of

Napa County, stopping at Markley Cove at Lake Berryessa. We wanted to stop at the Glory Hole in Lake Berryessa, but there wasn’t much to see. The water currently isn’t high enough to spill over into the hole. On to St Helena and then an hour break at Calistoga, giving us a quick chance to sightsee and stretch our legs. We did go to the Sugar Train, and enjoyed a refreshing cold fruit smoothie on a hot day. We left Calistoga and headed to Geyserville for a buffet lunch at the River Rock Casino. Knowing we were coming, they reserved the patio for us. We enjoyed a miraculous view from the mountain top overlooking the Napa Valley. After lunch we rode to the Lake Sonoma overlook, taking amazing photos of the lake behind us. Leaving there, we rode through many little towns that I never noticed before, including Cloverdale, Hopland and Yorkville. The roads were twisty and fun. The next break and time to relax was a stop at the Navarro General Store. All of us enjoyed sitting on the wooden patio deck, laughing and talking about the ride. Moving on, heading to Ft Bragg, west on Hwy 128, we travelled through the Navarro River Redwoods Forest. The trees provide a breathtaking view as we rode through filtered sunlight, looking at the towering tall trees and giant ferns. After a long day on and off the bike, at 8pm, we arrived at Ft Bragg, exhilarated and tired, almost 12 hours after our 8:30 KSU that morning.
We rode through many interesting and beautiful towns, Mendocino, Little River, Albion, and Elk. We were looking, but we never saw any elk in Elk. Curt and I have been wanting to plan a Lighthouse Tour ride. We were happy the next stop on this ride was at the Point Arena Lighthouse. We laughed and called this the first of our 2018 Lighthouse Tour. This lighthouse was originally erected in 1870. The museum on sight features an original 1st order Fresnel glass prism lens. This lens is 6 ft. in diameter and weighs 4,700 lbs. It is amazing that prior to electricity the huge lens was manually rotated by a clockwork mechanism, and managed to shine 21 miles out into the ocean warning ships that land was nearby. We decided to go inside and up to the top of the lighthouse. After climbing 115 feet up 144 stairs, we realized we might not do a Lighthouse Tour after all. Still, just being that high up and looking out at the ocean was incredible. Next stop was Fort Ross State Park, a Russian Settlement Village. Still standing on the grounds is California’s first Windmill, built in 1817, and the Holy Trinity Chapel, built in the 1820’s. The Chapel was the first Russian Orthodox
Church built in North America outside of Alaska. Many cannons on site remind you that they were prepared to fight and defend their position on the California Coast. After our lessons on local history, we traveled down the coast, through Jenner and the Sonoma Coast State Park to Bodega Bay for lunch. Our next stop was a visit to Stinson Beach, where some of the group enjoyed walking in the sand, out to the water’s edge. On the road again, we passed Muir Beach as we traveled through the hills of Mill Valley and Tamalpais. Amazing views of lush green trees standing on wheat colored hills looking up at the vast blue sky. This view was one of my favorite of the entire weekend. Riding on, 19 bikes roared loudly through the tunnel at Sausalito. Once out of the tunnel, we came upon the Golden Gate Bridge. Another very cool part of the ride, was enjoying the bikes roaring across the Golden Gate Bridge together. Just after we got off the bridge, I caught a breathtaking view of sun going down over the Pacific Ocean. We stayed on the

coast while in San Francisco, passing through Sea Cliff, and saw many fascinating mansions. We passed the Legion of Honor Museum, and the famous Cliff House. Still on Cabrillo Hwy (Hwy 1), we enjoyed the coastline. The ocean view was breath taking as we approached Half Moon Bay. Eleven hours later, another long day of seeing the sights and traveling on the bikes, we finally arrived at the hotel. Time to relax and go to dinner, with more unique things to see at Cameron’s English Pub. Memorabilia from all over the world covered every inch on the walls and ceiling. Getting out a little earlier on this morning, our last day of this trip and fabulous ride, started with more education. We rode the coast to the UC Santa Cruz Seymour Marine Discovery Center. We spent at least an hour, looking at various forms of marine life, from skeletons of whales to a moving baby Swell Shark that is still forming in the egg seed pod, and beautiful starfish on coral. This center is a fascinating hands on, touch and feel, place that the entire family will enjoy. Next stop was a relaxing visit to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Pier. Across the water was the world famous Santa Cruz Amusement Park. Leaving there, we rode through the Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. Riding on the bike through the redwoods you could feel the sun as it splashes through the trees and enjoy the fresh smell of the redwoods. We stopped for lunch at a cute place in Woodside, called Alice’s Restaurant. The building was built in the early 1900’s, and first used as a General Store. Alice bought the place in the 1960’s and named it after herself. Story has it that she loved being connected to the Arlo Guthrie song of the same name, Alice’s Restaurant. Lunch break was over and we were back on the bikes again, until we stopped at Arlen Ness Motorcycle. Wow!! What a cool museum of BadAss bikes and memorabilia. We spent an hour there, just looking around while the group dropped a few dollars on souvenir tee shirts.

We took the road through the windmill power area with hopes to catch less traffic. It didn’t matter, we were stuck in slow moving traffic on a hot day in the hills. We were no longer enjoying the cool coast weather. I was impressed every time we were about to sit in slow traffic, our leader pulled a U-Turn and simply took us another way to get where he wanted to go. He knew these roads, kept the pace quick but not too fast. He took us through the hills and along the coast, bringing us home through the Delta where we passed by or crossed over at least six different style bridges. Every bit of this trip was exciting and more to see. A 12 hour day of riding, we arrived home feeling beat up and happy about it. We had the greatest ending to the ride, watching the sunset over the Sacramento River. Article and photos contributed by Cyndee Reed Van Hooser

A
s we enter the 3rd quarter of 2018, it is surprising how fast the year has gone. It’s been an outstanding year, and for some, they are stuck in the same place they were last quarter, and the quarter before that, and for some, they are still stuck in 2017. There is no growth as they continue doing the same things over and over again expecting different results. This we have come to know as insanity. The phone rings and my email gets blown up with people in devastating situations that are generally the same situations they were in last time or even last year and continue to be in as they are unable to come to grips with the need for change in their life. We go through coaching and counselling sessions that free them up with ideas to change, yet they fall into the same old traps that grip their life with hurt and despair. Why is it that an animal will learn to stay away from danger, yet we humans are prone to relive the pain over and over? The definition of being foolish according to the dictionary is…’having or showing a lack of good sense, judgment or discretion’. Okay, how many of us can raise our hands on that one? Plenty, I am sure. Talking with many people that come to me and ask my advice, I can honestly say that one of the key areas that keep us from moving forward in our lives is arrogance. This word has deteriorated plenty of friendships, business relationships, marriages as well as relationships with our children. The definition of arrogance in the dictionary is…’an attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner’. We fall in to the trap of arrogance towards situations and others. Sometimes, it’s towards the very people that are trying to help us.
us standing alone. We will look for our families and they will be gone. Those once close friends will soon find new friends that give as well as they receive. Changing arrogance into humility is no easy task and not for the faint at heart. It is a transformational thing that takes place on the inside of a human being. Choosing humility over arrogance, although it may sound like a weakness, it is actually a very strong asset. When you get to a point in your life that you no longer need to be arrogant to get your way, a new world opens up for you. A sense of well-being comes over you as more and more people gravitate towards you and your cause. Once upon a time, there were two gentlemen walking toward each other on a small dirt path that lay on the side of a mountain. It was narrow enough that two people could not pass each other at the same time. As they got closer and closer, they both knew there was no way for them to pass each other and one was going to have to move aside. As they came toe-to-toe on the trail, it was obvious someone was going to have to move. They were staring eye-to-eye when the first gentleman said in a very arrogant voice, “I never move out of the way for a fool” and didn’t budge. The second gentleman said, “I always do”, stepped aside and waved him on. Humility always wins. See you at Thunder Road Church. 1 Peter 2:15 For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people” (NIV) “Never Ride Alone” Pastor Johnny Lujan – Thunder Road Church

EVENT Two biker chicks are laying on the beach in Daytona while on vacation for Biketoberfest, deciding which Club to go to that night. The one younger chick says she heard of a great place where “the men customers are Best known for being really good in the sack’. The older chick wisely responds, ‘Yeah, I’ve always found men are like beer; some just go down better than others’. -------------------------------------------------------------A little Louisiana’ boy was sitting on the curb with a gallon of turpentine and shaking it up and watching all the bubbles. A little while later a Priest came along and asked the little boy what he had. The little boy replied, “Dis here is the most powerful liquid in the world, it’s called turpentine.” The Priest said, “Actually, the most powerful liquid in the world is Holy Water. If you take some of this Holy Water and rub it on a pregnant women’s belly, she’ll pass a healthy baby. The little boy replied, “Oh yeah, well, if’n I take some of dis’ here turpentine and rub it on my lil’ brother’s ass, he’ll pass a Harley-Davidson.” -------------------------------------------------------------Five surgeons from big cities are discussing who makes the best patients to operate on. The first surgeon, from New York, says,” I like to see accountants on my operating table because when you open them up, everything inside is numbered.” The second, from Chicago, responds, “Yeah, but you should try electricians! Everything inside them is color coded.” The third surgeon, from Dallas, says, “No, I really think librarians are the best, everything inside them is in alphabetical order.” The fourth surgeon, from Los Angeles chimes in: “You know, I like construction workers. Those guys always understand when you have a few parts left over.” But the fifth surgeon, from Washington, DC, shut them all up when he observed: “You’re all wrong. Politicians are the easiest to operate on. There’s no guts, no heart, no balls, no brains, and no spine. Plus, the head and the ass are interchangeable.” -------------------------------------------------------------Just who was the first person to say, “See that chicken there? I’m gonna’ eat the next thing that comes outta’ it’s ass”. Two young business men in California were sitting down for a break in their soon-to-be new store in the shop-
ping mall. As yet, the store wasn’t ready, with only a few shelves and display racks set up. One said to the other, “I’ll bet that any minute now some lame-as senior is going to walk by, put his face to the window, and ask what we’re selling.” Sure enough, just a moment later, a curious senior gentleman walked up to the window, looked around intensely and rapped on the glass, then in a loud voice asked, “What are you sellin’ here?” One of the guys yelled sarcastically, “We’re selling ass-holes.” Without missing a single beat, the old timer said, “Sales are good. Only two left.” --------------------------------------------------------------A man was leaving a convenience store when he noticed a most unusual funeral procession approaching the nearby cemetery. A black hearse was followed by a second black hearse about 50 feet behind the first one. Behind the second hearse was a solitary man walking a dog on a leash. Behind him, a short distance back, were about 200 men walking in single file. The man watching couldn’t stand the curiosity. He respectfully approached the man walking the dog and said... “I am so sorry for your loss, and this may be a bad time to disturb you, but I’ve never seen a funeral like this. Whose funeral is it?” “My wife’s.” ‘’What happened to her?” “She yelled at me and my dog attacked and killed her.” He inquired further, “But who is in the second hearse?” “My mother-in-law. She came to help my wife and the dog turned on her and killed her also.” It was a very poignant and touching moment of brotherhood. Silence passed between the two men. The man then asked... “Can I borrow the dog?” The man walking the dog replied, “Get in line.” --------------------------------------------------------------A 12 year old is upstairs walking down the hall to the kitchen when he hears a woman’s scream over and over coming from his parent’s bedroom. He opens the door and sees his parents only with their heads at the bottom of the bed, his Dad on top. His Dad in the throes of passion looks up and sees him, but his only reaction is a big-ass grin and a thumbs up. About a week passes and the Dad is in the kitchen getting a late night snack when he hears all this moaning from the downstairs bedroom. He quietly opens the door to see his son really going hard on Grandma. The son looks up, stares straight into his Dad’s eyes with a big ole’ grin, a thumbs up, and says, “It’s not so damn funny when it’s your Mom is it?”.

BIKER BAND REVUE:
GENRE ROCK: Diversity of One
I
caught up with the band Diversity of One, for an interview, just hours before they were scheduled to perform in Arizona. With little time on their hands, they agreed to sit down with me and answer a few questions that I had prepared. Taleah: The textbook definition for diversity of one has many definitions. Has anyone ever asked you what Diversity of One means to you? Diversity of One: Actually No. We have been asked what D-1 stands for. The name Diversity of One also known as D-1 is a story, not a definition. The diversity comes from the four of us. Each one of us come from different walks of life, different roots, economic situations etc. We have come together as one unit to create what we have created. It’s something really special. To us, it means bringing together different cultures and making one amazing thing. Taleah: If you could say one thing to your audience as you walk out on stage, what would you say to them? Diversity of One: Respect Taleah: Who’s the shy one? Diversity of One: The assassin. Off stage he’s quiet and reserved. Unlike his fired up stage performance. Taleah: What’s in the future of D-1? Diversity of One: We are putting together the material for a new CD. At present we are in the writing stage, but hope to release it in 2019. Because of their tight schedule, I wrapped up the interview and we all said our good byes. In just a few hours they would be back on tour and heading to Phoenix, Arizona. NorCal can catch Diversity of One playing at the Shinerfest on September 28-29th in Wilseyville.
BMC (Bass/ Back-up vocals) BMC is the papa bear of the group. He has logged many years on the road starting when he was a teenager racing cars all throughout the U.S. and now our musical Doctor of the Bass. He administers that rumble you feel in your chest. He is a true student of the game of life. BMC is not afraid of the hard work and he constantly finds ways to become a better musician. His infectious and extreme work ethic makes the people around
him better. BMC’s background reflects his playing style: Hard Rock, Big Country Guy, 80’s Rock, Metal, Old School Low Rider Music, and HipHop.

Jemezzy Ba’be (Lead Vocals) Growing up in a family full of entertainers one might think that Jemezzy Ba’Be may have chosen a different path, like becoming a doctor or lawyer or even a police officer. Well that is not the case. After countless shows and thousands of hours on the road, sharing the stage with some the biggest HipHop legends, yes you guessed it, a musician. Growing up with music playing from sunup till sundown, planted the seed in a young boy that would become Jemezzy. He would have to follow in the huge footsteps left by his family tree of musicians. Joeliath (Drums / Back-up vocals) Joelliath brings 20 plus years of experience in the music business. His knowledge alone is priceless. The fire and passion Joeliath plays with is on the thin line between genius and insanity. With pure love and respect for the ones who showed him the way, they continue to inspire him to play the drums with so much grit. Joeliath plays with that in your face edgy Hardcore Metal–I’m going to murder every song style drumming. He’s a proud member that takes so much pride in destroying snares… stemming from his background of playing Metal, Punk, Thrash HipHop, and Various Other Styles. Assassin (Guitar/vocals) Assassin is the baby brother of the crew. He is not a stranger to the music scene. Assassin comes from a long family of shredders, from grandfather to uncle, and now the torch has been passed onto him. Assassin has put many years into the local circuit. He brings that bang your head till your neck get stiff style of guitar with face melting rifts and sneaky snake like scales that will blow your mind. When he hits the stage, you can see by the crazy look in his eye that he is a shredder. His style reflects his background which includes Death Metal, Rock, Hard Rock, Alternative HipHop.
