ight now, we are definitely in the ‘dog days of summer’ - in fact, we are on our fifth straight day over 100 degrees! And…the forecast looks like it will continue to sizzle into the next five days! But that’s life in Northern California’s central valley. When we get hot stretches like this, it makes us miss living up in the mountains or wish that living near the coast was more affordable. As we all know that in the mountains – also comes snow in the winter, not conducive to riding and near the coast the cost of living is so high if you are not already there then you can pretty much forget about it. Now while I want to feel sorry for myself and start to complain - I have to remind myself that this is a small price to pay for the ability to RIDE year round which we can do here unlike most other places in the country. With a little preplanning, we can ride out early in the morning to head towards the coast for a cooler day and return back to the valley after it cools down. If you ask me - this makes for a spectacular day of riding in NorCal! So don’t let the heat get you down, it will be fall soon enough so embrace what NorCal provides us good and bad and count your lucky stars that we live in a place where if we don’t like what we have at home we can ride to a completely different climate without leaving the state. Once again, Terri and I had hoped that this would be the year that we could hit the road for Sturgis. But the truth is taking two big trips away from NorCal within a year is just not practical for us. We will fall behind by taking that kind of time away. After our x-country ride to North Carolina (Check out our Road Trippin’ Part 2 article in this issue) we figured we need to do something of a shorter duration. If you are fortunate enough to go - have fun for us and go to the Buffalo Chip to see Kid Rock perform! You won’t be disappointed. Plus be sure to check out some championship flat tracking racing with the RSD Super Hooligans. Safe travels to all that are making this annual migration from NorCal and back and most important have a kick ass good time while you are there! Stay cool!

EVENT
MY TWO CENTS:
Still Hot as All Get Out I’m in fourth gear on the frontage road and it looks like there’s a lake up ahead on the road. It’s just a mirage, heat waves coming off the pavement. The temperature was 104 when I left the shop. I guess I’m getting acclimated to the heat because it doesn’t bother me as much as it did a couple of weeks ago. I don’t mind riding in the high heat, it’s not my favorite time to ride and I know my bike doesn’t like it, but what are you gonna do? I have a good bike, and I maintain it, and I don’t beat it like I’m trading it in for a new bike in the morning. However I do ride aggressive and a little hard at times and if my bike could, it would put its hands on its knees gasping for air and ask me WTF!? But I try not to ride like that in this extreme heat. I also try to remember when it’s real hot outside to drink more water than alcohol. I’m not gonna sit here and tell you what to do and what to drink. I can only state the fact that water will hydrate you better than alcohol. It might not be as much fun but your head and body will definitely appreciate it. I got heat exhaustion once on the way to the Redwood Run way back in the day. We started partying the day before the run and by the time we got to the run site
on Friday I had to drink a couple little bottles of Pedialyte and a few waters and all around just take it easy. By Saturday morning I was golden! Bud, Jack Daniels, bacon and eggs for breakfast! Hell yeah!!! Let’s get this party started! After that I started bringing my own supply of Pedialyte when I went on runs, especially if I knew I was gonna party hard and drink like a failure. It really helps put the electrolytes back in your body and prevents dehydration brought on by over consuming alcohol. The shit works wonders once you get past the gagging reflexes. Or you could just not drink yourself into a coma. Sometimes that can be easier said than done, especially since this is the most fun you’ve had without taking your pants off in a while, and let’s face it, when we’re partying and drinking time can get away from you. Hell it happens to the best of us. In fact it’s happened to most of us that drink one time or another. All I’m saying is try to stay hydrated during these summer months. I know it doesn’t get too hot near the coast but the rest of Northern California can get sweltering hot, so keep an eye on your oil pressure and temperature and try to stay cool. That’s all I got this month, now go ride like hell, drink up and have fun! Al Cagle www.rackandpull.com

ast month, we finally got the whole immediate family together for a weekend. We all rented a large house in Dillon Beach. A fine place up on the bluffs overlooking the coast. While there enjoying our time with the kids and grandkids, we decided to come up on our own the following weekend and explore the other small towns in the area like Valley Ford, Bodega Bay, Bodega, Freestone, Occidental, Sebastopol and Tomales.

Continental Inn
Valley Ford Hotel Potter School Bodega
Union Hotel Leaving Sacramento that first weekend, we took our normal route up SR 12 and up through Petaluma. Lots of rolling hills and wide-open spaces. Before checking into the house, we headed up Highway 1 to wander around Bodega Bay and have a late lunch. We’ve been to the Fishaterian a few times but decided to go next door to the Lucas Wharf Restaurant. Good choice! Excellent oysters and seafood dishes.
Wildflower Cafe Freestone
One of the highlights of our family weekend was the trip to the beach. The grandkids had an exceptionally good time. Hint: if you’re going to Dillon Beach and the seashore, get there as early in the morning as you can. It’s very popular and with only one road in, it backs up and can take you an hour or more to get down to the parking area. The following weekend we decided to stay in Valley Ford, at the Valley Ford Hotel. Built in 1864 as a stagecoach stop, it’s newly remodeled, quiet (no tv) and with its own in house restaurant (Rocker Oysterfellers) and bar. That is where we headed after hitting the market across the street. We listened continued.... Thunder Roads Magazine® Northern California 9

to the two-man band for a while before calling it a night. The restaurant closes fairly early, as does the entire little town. The next morning, before heading out, we took a three mile walk around “the loop.” It’s a few back-country roads that circle around through several cattle ranches with some great scenery along the way. Our first stop for the day would be the town of Bodega. Its claim to fame is the Potter School House that was used for Alfred Hitchcock’s movie “The Birds.”It was built in 1873 on land donated by the local sheriff, Samuel Potter. You can also check out the Casino Bar and Grill which includes Chef Mark Malicki’s Bodega Oyster Cult. Yum! Next, back on Bodega Highway, we made a stop at the Wildflower Bakery in Freestone. They bake hundreds of loaves of bread daily in wood-fired brick ovens. Their delicious scones are also very popular.

After our visit to Freestone, we headed up the road to the nice little town of Occidental. There we would have an excellent lunch at the Union Hotel and Saloon. It was built in 1879, and later bought by Carlo Panizzera in 1925. In 1949, his daughter Lucille married into the Gonnella family and they have run the enterprise ever since. So, we left town on Occidental Rd and made our way to Sebastopol, which is a larger city, about the size of Bodega Bay. The temperature was rising, so we decided to find a cool place to kick it. The HopMonk Tavern seemed like just the place. Definitely one of the best places in town to hang out. A good restaurant with plenty of choices when it comes to the brews. Even live music and a beer garden. On the road from Occidental, we noticed several pieces of artwork out in front of homes along the way. Turns out they were created by a local artist, Patrick Amiot. He and Brigette Laurent call the work “Junk Art.” He sculpts, and she paints. We decided we would check out his studio (house)
Thunder Roads Magazine® Northern California 10
Turning on to his block, we noticed every yard has one of their sculptures. We really enjoyed checking out these very unique pieces of art. Bravo! Back at the hotel that evening, we had an urge for something sweet, so we walked over to Dinucci’s Italian Restaurant for some spumoni to go. The next morning, before our trip home, we stopped in Tomales at the bakery for a little breakfast. Afterward, we walked over to the William Tell House. It’s been closed for a while, but I read it may open at the end of July with new owners. Next time up here I think we may stay at the Continental Inn. Looks pretty nice. It’s time to head back, so we hopped on the Tomales/Petaluma Road and pointed the bike homeward. Article and photos contributed by Chuck and Cindy Loseth

July 6 – 8 (Hollister) The doors swung open at the Wild One Saloon in downtown Hollister to welcome bikers rolling into town to celebrate the birthplace of the American Biker! The Wild One Saloon was located at the large Veterans Memorial Building right in the center of town making it the perfect place James Aaron Band to cool off with your favorite beverage and catch the bands that were entertaining us all weekend. Once again, the town council voted the rally down (which in my opinion is very short sighted) so there was no big organized sanctioned event this year. But that did not stop bikers from making the trek to Hollister. They did and in fact they came in fairly large numbers - considering. Corbin Seats, of course always has their annual event; and this year they

celebrated 50 years in their huge parking lot which drew a big crowd on Saturday. Top Hatters MC of Hollister had their 71st Anniversary Run and Johnny’s Bar and Grill got into the action as well. And over at Indian Motorcycle of Hollister, the Indian factory truck was on hand with their fleet of demo bikes for people to ride. TRM NorCal had a booth set up for the weekend at the Wild One Saloon alongside several other vendors thanks to Indian of Hollister and 41 Live! It was a lot of fun hanging out and meeting so many people that stopped by our booth. Since the town can’t seem to get their collective act together - it is sounds like they are about to miss out on another big opportunity. TRM NorCal has been told that continued....

there is a big Buffalo Chip-style event in the works at a location just out of town for the 2019 Fourth of July weekend. You heard it here first! Indian Motorcycle of Hollister along with event promoter 41 Live! have been working together to promote a large scale event in 2019. That’s right! Plans are in the works for a full blown 3 day - 4 night biker bash with live bands and much more! With the experience of the people behind this event it is sure to be the best way to spend the fourth of July weekend so set your calendar now for the best thing to come to California in years. Stay tuned and we will keep you up to date on further information as it becomes available but for now it sounds like this event will take place on July 4th through July 7th. Since this will be taking place outside city limits, the town council will no longer have the ability to cancel it. This could be the opportunity we have all been waiting for to have this event and be able to count on it year after year without interruption! Article and photos by Stan and Terri Hill

hout out to the old AMF days of HarleyDavidson and this bike is a great example of what was up back then. We love to showcase classic bikes so I am sure that this one will bring back memories for those that were riding or started riding during this era of motorcycling. This bike is owned and meticulously cared for by Rick (a big supporter of this publication) and the owner of Rick’s Automotive in Rocklin. Rick has been riding motorcycles for 35 years. And although Rick owns two other bikes, he remains ‘true’ to his Maybellene and still shows his love by taking her out for a ride often. Rick’s Automotive has been doing business in Rocklin since May of 1999. Along with his righthand man Jason, they are the ones that have been responsible for keeping our hard working Thunder Roads van on the road for the last 7 years. 290,000 miles later, the van still runs great thanks to the experience and knowledge that Rick and Jason bring to the table so we can still load it up and hit the road with confidence. You might be able to catch Rick at the Roseville Speedway on the weekends where he is regularly out there racing cars and has been since 1993. I have been to his races and he usually puts on a great show! Rick is one of the fastest drivers on the track and is defiantly aggressive when it’s time to make a pass for a win! We love to show our support to Nor Cal biker-owned businesses and Rick’s Automotive located at 3725 Pine Street in Rocklin is rated highly on our list. Article and photos by Stan Hill

TRANSFERRING IMAGES
In the last issue, I began discussing some common methods of transferring art images. Before I go on to another method, I would like to share with you a few statements from well known artist Clive Powell…image transfers have been going on since before the time of the great masters, who, by the way, made copies or image transfers for themselves. Unfortunately the only technologies they had available were the grid method and tracings. Today we not only have the old methods, (which are still used) there is a host of new technologies to help us on our way, such as projectors. No, not like in high school - these specifically designed for artwork. There are two types used opaque and digital. An opaque projector comes in various source image sites. For example, Artograph makes projectors that will accept originals from 2x3in to 5x7in, as well as different models will enlarge the image from 5x’s to 20x’s depending on the model. The price on Artograph opaque projectors run from about $40 to $250 dollars. These will last as long as you replace the bulbs. Digital projectors use LED’s as a light source. As you know, the life span of LED’s are measured in years, their brightness is measured in lumens with a range of about 200 to 1500. This type of brightness allows you to project in dim light and produce a very sharp image. These types of projectors come with many features not found with their opaque counter parts, such as color contrast, grids and inputs/ outputs. It seems there are a multitude of manufactures - Panasonic, Hitachi and Canon to name a few. The one main concern is price. The best opaque projectors are about $250 and the digital projectors for art will probably start at $400 with an upper range of about $900. My best suggestion for digital projectors is to visit your favorite electronics store and have them demo a few brands with some work you are familiar with. Next issue we will complete this topic with a couple of tried and true methods. OUR XCOUNTRY ROAD TRIP: PART TWO
ROAD’
TRIPPIN
J
North Carolina to california
ust to catch up from last month’s article, I made a solo trip from Folsom, California to the coast of North Carolina – spending a couple of days catching up with our oldest son and his family before Terri flew in to join us. Although the ride was exciting and enjoyable – honestly, the best part of this adventure was to have the quality time that we were able to spend hanging out with the family at the beach and catching up on everything that we have missed out on.
Family North Carolina
had ‘The Dragon’ to ourselves. And what a treat is was! As far as roads go, I really did enjoy the ride! The turns are tight, but it is fairly easy to find a nice rhythm. And the pavement was absolutely pristine based on California standards. If you are ever out this way, we recommend trying to ride it on a weekday to avoid some of the crazies out there on the weekends. But it is definitely worth knocking this one off of your bucket list or as Terri and I like to call it our Ride It list. We really enjoyed riding through eastern North Carolina and Tennessee, the hilly terrain and nicely paved roads made for some spectacular scenic riding. We were wishing that we had a month to spend in this part of the country to just explore.
Civil War battlefield Tennessee
DAY 5 / NORTH CAROLINA
The skies were on the gloomy side when we pointed our Indian Roadmaster westward to start our journey back to California. Sure enough, we road through several little thunderstorms during the day. Nothing bad - just enough to make the road wet. Our goal for the day was to ride the legendary Tail of the Dragon which is located on the North Carolina/Tennessee border. Come rain or shine - we were committed to ride it! As luck would have it, about an hour away the skies cleared up and the road was dry by the time we got there. Because of the forecast and it was a Monday, there were not very many people out riding so we basically Ride It List Tail of the Dragon

DAY 6 / TENNESSEE As we rolled on through Tennessee, we stopped at Parker’s Crossroads – a Civil War battlefield (www. parkerscrossroads.org) as well as looked up Terri’s Great Aunt Boots Family visit TN gravesite. She just passed away in 2017 and the groundskeepers at the cemetery were very helpful in helping us locate the family burial site.

DAY 7 / ARKANSAS OKLAHOMA
From Tennessee we rolled through Arkansas, stopping briefly for some authentic southern cooking with fried catfish, fried chicken, fried okra, collards and a slice of Nilla wafer banana crème pie. Arkansas was another very beautiful state that we wish we had more time to see; but we had a service appointment with Indian of Oklahoma City where we checked in for an oil change. We got a hotel room there and did some exploring downtown. Since we were right there in Oklahoma City, we visited the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building (www.oklahomacitynationalmemorial.org) which is the site of the bombing in 1999. The city had a very impressive memorial to the victims of this horrible tragedy and it is a must see if you are ever in this area. You should also go check out Bricktown - lots of restaurants, breweries and shops all in a chic industrial area with really cool old red brick buildings.
DAY 8/ TEXAS – NEW MEXICO
We left Oklahoma early in the morning and headed towards Texas as we were chased by an ominous looking thunderstorm that surrounded us as we road like hell to outrun it! Fortunately, our trusty Roadmaster did its part without one raindrop! It was a good thing too as we heard the next day there were tornados in the area that we road through. Those storms out there are no joke! We road straight through the Texas panhandle into New Mexico before calling it a day in an authentic motel in Gallup located on the Mother Road – Route 66.

DAY 9 / ARIZONA
Chased by Oklahoma Thunderstorm
The next day was one of our shortest but hardest days as we road into Arizona. The wind gusts were intense! But we still wanted to visit the Petrified National Forest (www.nps. gov/pefo) htmand the Painted Desert so we pushed through it! The desert’s beauty was well worth it! The downside continued....

was as we turned to head back into town - we were riding INTO a 50+ mph headwind and anxiously watched the gas gauge AZ Crater wind needle falling fast with no civilization on the horizon. Fortunately, we made it - on fumes! After filling the tank, we did some more touristy sightseeing and headed to the crater of largest known meteor to strike the earth. The magnitude of the crater (www. meteorcrater.com) was impressive – however, the wind was blowing at a reported 90 mph! Enough to make it hard to keep your balance while navigating narrow paths to the observation deck, but kind of added to the experience! From there, we rolled into Flagstaff for the night. We were beat and tired from all the wind, but having a blast anyway!
Petrified Forest, AZ
After a rare two week road trip, we rolled into a beautiful California sunset with a sadness that our adventure was almost over. The realization hit us that we needed more time to really see America from ‘sea to shining sea’ Sunset CA than the few days of riding that we had available. That We woke up bright and early the next morning being said, should the stars align for us to make it happen knowing that this would be our last day of our motorcycle again - we would do it all again in a heartbeat! trip across the country. And since we were so close and neither of us has seen the Grand Canyon, we decided to Article and photos by Stan and Terri Hill add a slight (100 mile-round trip) detour. This little detour turned our last day into a 900+ mile iron butt home stretch. Check out ‘Daily XCountry Vlog’ videos on Once again, it was worth it! The Grand Canyon (www.nps. gov/grca) was even grander than we expected it to be. Just at the sheer size of this landscape makes a person feel pretty small and insignificant in the big picture.

The group was led by Woody and Denise who have explored some of the back roads in the area. We road through some of the most scenic roads west of Ukiah into the redwoods at Montgomery Woods State Park into the coastal towns of Mendocino and Fort Bragg for a very nice seafood lunch at Silver’s at the Wharf out on their deck. It was a spectacular day of riding and I think most of us just hung out and enjoyed the park-like setting and the amenities of our cabooses. Sunday morning, we were once again treated to a wonderfully delicious breakfast before all getting together for a group photo then heading off on our separate ways home. Not wanting the weekend to end, we took a long and twisty route home with the Wood’s once again as our road captain. We said our farewells at our new advertiser in Winters – Green River Brewing & Taproom! What a cool place! acramento has just welcomed RoadRunner Natural Wellness to town! As it turns out the owners, Tony “RoadRunner” and Susan “Kitty” Chesney are avid motorcycle riders. Their new store is the first CBD American Shaman franchise in California. Tony and Susan got into this business to help people with pain as well as a multitude of other symptoms without the use of narcotics. With the opioid epidemic on the rise - this is a natural way to help people with their ailments. What exactly is CBD? Cannabidiol (CBD) is a compound in cannabis that has medical effects but does not make people feel “stoned”
and actually counters some of the effects of THC. The reduced psychoactivity of CBD-rich cannabis may make it an appealing treatment option for patients seeking antiinflammatory, anti-pain, anti-anxiety and/or anti-spasm effects without disconcerting euphoria or lethargy. Scientific and clinical studies indicate that CBD could be effective in easing symptoms of a wide range of difficultto- control conditions including: Acne, Addiction, ALS, Anorexia, Anxiety, Arthritis, Autism, Cancer, Depression, Endocrine Disorders, Fibromyalgia, Heart Disease, Inflammation, Kidney Disease, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Obesity, Osteoporosis, Rheumatism, Sickle Cell Anemia, Sleep Disorders, Stress, ADD and ADHD, Aids, Alzheimer’s, Antibiotic Resistance, Atherosclerosis, Asthma, Bipolar, Digestive Issues, Diabetes, Epilepsy and Seizures, Glaucoma, Huntington’s Disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Liver Disease, Migraine, Motion Sickness, Nausea, Chronic Pain, OCD, Parkinson’s Disease, PTSD. CBD has demonstrated neuroprotective effects, and its anti-cancer potential is currently being explored at several academic research centers in the U.S. and other countries. CBD is organic hemp oil derived from industrial grade hemp with no intoxication or harmful side effects. Some of the most commonly known benefits are to help people with things like PTSD, DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, STRESS AND PAIN. It gives you a refreshed mind and an elevated mood. ohn Jessup’s Dream Rides in Stockton took the Best In Show title last year at the FXR’s of California show with this sweet ride. A big congratulations are in order for this FXRDG that is called ‘Stromboli’. Jessup is really into FXR’s and has built several custom rides in his expansive shop in Stockton on 2383 North Wilson Way - it’s here that you can also find a very large assortment of used parts. Keep this in mind while you’re on the next project and you find yourself searching for that one elusive part. At Dream Rides, you can buy, sell or trade used parts with a pretty good chance that they just might have what you are looking for. We really liked this particular bike with its vintage paint but modern 124ci beast of a motor it has all the bases covered with both style and performance in one tight package. John Jessup’s Dream rides is a full service shop offering basic maintenance to full on custom builds like this one. So have you been wondering how this bike got its name? We wanted to know too - so we asked and found out that John let his four year old son name the bike and waaaalah - he named it ‘Stromboli’ after the animated puppet master in Disney’s Pinocchio. Now I’m having a serious craving for some Italian food! Ciao Article by Stan Hill. Photos contributed by Billie the Kid Photography Thunder Roads Magazine® Northern California 37

I
speak quite often on the Tombstone principle. I heard about this principle many years ago at a business conference I was attending. The principle made such an impact on me, I could barely sleep thinking about it. The principle states that if we fast forward throughout our lives and come to the place where we are standing in front of our own tombstone, what would we read? I understand some of you reading this will think, what a morbid way of thinking. But, the principle and thought must strike you as intriguing. What would our loved ones write on our tombstone that would capture our entire life in 1 or 2 sentences? What would they say about our character? What would they write about when it came to our integrity, our honesty or our humility? I wonder what it would say about our family values or how we treated our friends. I often think about my own mortality and what may be spoken of me if my grandchildren were to ask some of the people that know me now. When I am long gone, will my character be strong enough to leave a living legacy in my family? Will my name be one of integrity and steadfastness? When they ask, did you know Johnny Lujan? What will be said? Man, if you are not thinking about that now, maybe it’s time to start. There has never been a better time to change the things you can and start building on the legacy you may be leaving in the future. I sit with many people as they begin the ending journey of their life. There often seems to be the same couple questions asked when the end is near. Did I make a difference? And did I leave a legacy for my family? You can start creating the
answer to those questions now. No matter where you have been, what you have done, or the life you have lived in the past, you can create a new future for yourself and your family starting today. It takes courage, it takes faith and it takes the willingness to stand strong for what is right and not what the world is telling you to be. Harley-Davidson is now a household name. The legacy the company has created is that of integrity. Although, at one time not long ago, when Harley-Davidson was run by the AMF Corporation, they had a reputation of losing bolts, leaking oil, inferior parts, and not being reliable, almost to the point of extinction. Imagine what the legacy would have been if it were not for a few business men who wanted to rebuild the legacy of Harley-Davidson. Today, the name not only represents freedom, but also prestige, reliability, pride, and international growth. There came a point where changes needed to be made for the sake of the brand. Today, Harley-Davidson will leave a profound legacy. Just like Harley-Davidson knew there was a much-needed change. You too may be thinking a change is needed in your life. Don’t hesitate! There is no better time than now than to rethink your legacy and make a change. Mathew 22:37-40 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul and all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself. Riders arrived early to be part of the first group leaving the American Legion Hall Post 119, ready to chase the Joker and find their lucky cards. The route took them from Placerville to the historic town of Coloma, where the first stop was the Coloma Club. Riders were pleased to see local Pageant Queens there to greet them and help select their first card. Off to the next stop, the group approached a red light at the Bringing smiles to Children crossroads of Hwy 49 and Hwy 50. (Little Johnny may just be quicker than all of us) Teacher: Johnny, go to the map and find North America. Johnny goes to map: Here it is. Teacher: Correct. Now, class, tell me who it is that discovered America? Johnny: It’s me. I did it just now. Teacher: Johnny, how old is your Father? Johnny: He’s 10 years old. Teacher: What? How exactly is that possible? Johnny: Well, he only became a Father when I was born. Teacher: Johnny, how do you spell ‘crocodile’? Johnny: k-r-o-k-o-d-i-a-l Teacher: No, that’s incorrect. Johnny: Maybe so, but you asked me how I spell it. Teacher: Johnny, what is the chemical formula for water? Johnny: h-i-j-k-l-m-n-o Teacher: What are you talking about? Johnny: Yesterday you said it was ‘H to O’. Teacher: Johnny, your assignment on ‘My Dog’ is exactly the same as your brother’s. Did you copy his? Johnny: No ma’am, it’s exactly the same dog. -------------------------------------------------------------A senior man walks into his local Pharmacy and finds the aisle he’s looking for but not the product as the labels are too small of writing for him to read. He sees a perky young blonde stocking the shelves and asks her, “Excuse me Miss, could you help me find the ball-type of deodorant”? The blonde looks and him with her eyes really big eyes and says, “I do all the stocking here sir, and we don’t have deodorant for your balls, just your under arms”. -------------------------------------------------------------One nice thing about narcissists; they don’t talk about other people. Whose cruel idea was it for the word ‘lisp’ to have an ‘S’ in it? Why is it called Tourist Season if we can’t shoot at them? Why do they lock gas station bathrooms? Are they worried someone will actually clean them? Why is there an expiration date on sour cream? Why are hemorrhoids not called assteroids? -----------------------------------------------------------------
Our teacher asked what my favorite animal was, and being a farm gal and a young hunter with my Dad I said, “Fried chicken”. She said I wasn’t funny, but everyone in the class laughed. She sent me to the Principal’s office. I told him what happened and he laughed too but told me not to do it again. I got home and told my Dad what happened and he said my teacher was probably a member of PETA. He said they really like animals. I thought to myself that I really like animals too; especially chicken, pork and beef. The next day in class the teacher asked me what my favorite live animal was. I told her chicken. She asked why. I told her because you could make them into fried chicken. She sent me back to the Principal’s office. I told him what happened and he laughed and told me not to do it again. I really don’t understand, my parents taught me to be honest but my teacher doesn’t like it when I am. Today in class she asked me what famous person I admired most. I told her Colonel Sanders. Guess where I am now? --------------------------------------------------------------A pirate walked into a bar, and the bartender said... “Hey, I haven’t seen you in a while. What happened? You look terrible.” “What do you mean?” said the pirate, “I feel fine.” “What about the wooden leg? You didn’t have that before.” “Well,” said the pirate, “We were in a battle, and I got hit with a cannon ball, but I’m fine now.” The bartender replied, “Well, OK, but what about that hook? What happened to your hand?” The pirate explained, “We were in another battle. I boarded a ship and got into a sword fight. My hand was cut off. I got fitted with a hook but I’m fine, really.” “What about that eye patch?” “Oh,” said the pirate, “One day we were at sea, and a flock of birds flew over. I looked up, and one of them shit in my eye.” “You’re kidding,” said the bartender. “Can you lose an eye just from bird shit?” -----------------------------------------------------------------“It was my first day with the hook.” Little Johnny finds himself at the Principal’s office and the Principal ushers him in and lets out a long sigh and asks ‘why are you here yet again?’ Little Johnny explains in a very innocent voice. ‘Well, the teacher was going over our numbers for the 8th time this week and she asked, ‘what comes after 69?’ ‘Apparently “mouthwash” was the wrong answer cause’ here I am with you, yet again.’

On June 29th, ‘Rock For Reason’ was held at Harlow’s Restaurant & Nightclub in downtown Sacramento. The music line-up was off the hook as were the 300+ guest that came together and raised 5K to benefit children in music. Performances from the All-Star line-up included Greg Golden (guitar), Joe Fraulob (guitar) Halie O’Ryan (vocals) Lowell Hackney (vocals) Tiffany Novella (vocals) Chris Cary (vocals), David Strelz (drums), Bobby Campbell (drums), Kelly Smith (drums), Jeff Montgomery (guitar) Virgil McKenzie (keyboard) Michael Spencer (bass) Rod Simpkin (bass) David Strelz (bass) and Phil/Skip Braun (bass). Opening the show was Madi Gold, JT Loux, Kyle Belt, Reilly Olsen and Rico Ucles of the up and coming Tonic Zephyr Band. ‘Rock For Reason’ is becoming one of the top gala events in the Sacramento area and among those in attendance to contribute to this great cause was 93.7 The River, Scott Plowman of Plowzone radio show at 89.5 KZCT, Frankie James from Sun Stroke Photography and Culture Rock Media, Heath Santi from Photos by Heath, Taleah Ebey from T3 Design Studios/TRM NorCal, Twanna Turner daughter of Ike Turner and Capitol Choas TV. The mission statement for Higher Purpose Events is to utilize its resource and event skills to put on large events that will raise money to support programs and other non-profits benefiting men, women, and children and to renew hope for a better tomorrow. GREG GOLDEN - I was honored to be a part of this All Star jam. Ryan Fleenor asked Joe Fraulob (INSERT JOE PHOTO) and I to form an all star lineup for this amazing show. I have played these events before for Ryan and his charitable cause. This year was really a blast. Joe and I basically picked our teams so to speak and hit the stage with our best line ups. My newly formed Greg Golden Band (Greg Golden, Jeff Montgomery, David Strelz, Michael Young, Lowell Hackney) played a majority of the songs with added appearances by Danny Kurywchak, Michael 26 Monroe, Robert Ferrell, Halie O’Ryan and Tiffany Norvella. We also combined bands with Joe Fraulob, as well and added songs in the beginning and the end of the show. There was a great crowd and a wide variety of music. It is always fun to play in Sacramento. The folks in Sacramento have always been extremely receptive to my band.
Joe Fraulob
We felt honored to have Twanna Turner (Ike Turner’s daughter) in the crowd and many friends from Reno and of course Northern California! We played songs from the first album, first EP and brand new songs not released officially yet. Thank you Sacramento, Joe Fraulob and his friends and band, Taleah Ebey, the staff at Harlow’s, Ryan Fleenor and most of all the wonderful folks that came and supported this fine event. Love you all!! GG Side note: The Greg Golden Band won best rock band in Northern Calif as voted on by N.C.E.M. (Northern California Entertainers Music Awards). GGB will be playing again at the Opera House in Roseville on August 18. HALIE O’RYAN - Rock For Reason 2018 brought Northern California musicians closer together while raising money to gift foster kids instruments, lessons and other needed support for displaced men and family members. To give or receive to this cause visit their website - www.higherpurposeevents.com Side note: Halie has performed on the main stage at Fleetwood’s in Hawaii, of the legendary Fleetwood Mac; her 2019 schedule will include Maui, Oahu, and Molokai. Halie performs often in Reno at Circus Circus and the Silver Legacy. Check her schedule out at www.halieoryan.com. SCOTT PLOWMAN - Rock for Reason was amazing! Such a caliber of talent came together for this Higher Purpose Charity Event. Since being a radio DJ here in Northern California, a variety of people in the music business have been on my Plowzone Radio Show. At this year’s Rock For Reason, Capitol Choas TV and myself teamed up to cover this charity event. Funny thing is, I didn’t know anything about most we had on camera. After doing some research and looking up the names of the ones interviewed, I am blown away by the level of talent on stage at the 2018 ‘Rock For Reason’ Article and photos contributed by Taleah Ebey of T3 Design Studios For more information on Higher Purpose Events / (Non Profit 501C3 Exempt # 45-5635520) www. higherpurposeevents.com (916) 224-6989 Facebook: Higher-Purpose-The-Event-Foundation-
