In Chelyabinsk in the Southern Urals, SMS Meer set up a large-diameter pipe mill that offers product quality down to the last detail. Overlooking to the future with a little more optimism. After an August dedicated to holidays, at least in Italy, signals of the long-waited end of the crisis are more tangible, according to experts’ forecast. We look at tomorrow with a certain dose of optimism but also with careful caution.

For the first time in several years, we can feel the change, given not only by speeches of institutional representatives, but also from the confidence in the people: next months will be crucial, especially in Italy, Spain, Portugal and Greece, and it is necessary to take decisions in economic, social and public administration matters with bravery and enthusiasm, but also offering the sense that things will be driven in the right way.

Next EMO edition, in semptember, will be the litmus test: after some fluctuating editions, with minor numbers of exhibitors if not of visitors, this year’s one will be the right event in which resumption will be more tangibly real and also the ideal situation for collecting impression and opinions from insiders. As always, our staff will be in Hannover and will report daily on the website on our meetings with economic operators and visitors.

At the same time, for the second consecutive edition Tube Today will also be present in Sao Paolo in Brasil for Tubotech, outstanding exhibition in Latin America. New markets but also the pulse of a growing economy will represent the ideal enviroment in which our optimism will grow up and get stronger. Affacciati al futuro con un po' più di ottimismo. Dopo un agosto dedicato alle vacanze, almeno in Italia, a lungo attesi segnali di fine della crisi sono più tangibili, secondo le previsioni degli esperti. Guardiamo al domani con una certa dose di ottimismo, ma anche con attenta cautela.

Per la prima volta in molti anni, siamo in grado di sentire il cambiamento, dato non solo dagli interventi di rappresentanti istituzionali, ma anche dalla percezione della fiducia nelle persone: i prossimi mesi saranno cruciali, soprattutto in Italia, Spagna, Portogallo e Grecia, ed è necessario prendere decisioni in materia economica, sociale e amministrazione pubblica, con coraggio ed entusiasmo, ma anche offrendo la sensazione che le cose saranno guidate nel modo giusto.

La prossima edizione della EMO, in settembre, sarà la prova del nove: dopo alcune edizioni fluttuanti, con numeri minori di espositori se non di visitatori, quest'anno sarà l'evento in cui la ripresa sarà più tangibilmente reale e anche la situazione ideale per raccogliere impressioni e pareri di addetti ai lavori. Come sempre, il nostro staff sarà ad Hannover e riferirà ogni giorno sul sito web sui nostri incontri con gli operatori economici e visitatori.

New SMS MEER plants

TMK Seversky Tube Works orders threading machines TMK´s OAO Seversky Tube Works from Polevskoy, Sverdlovsk, Russia, has placed an order with SMS Meer, Germany, for two new threading machines, including transport facilities. With these new machines, Seversky Tube Works is expanding its production capacities for premium joints.

The threading machines of the type CG 38/4 are able to thread pipes in the diameter range from 169 to 340 mm with wall thicknesses from 7.3 to 16.5 mm and lengths up to 13.5 m. Depending on the thread type and diameter, the machines finish between 46 and 87 pipes per hour.

The machines operate according to the "stationary tool – rotating pipe" principle. With this method the machines can cut standardized inside and outside threads as well as all premium threads. The pipe threads comply with the production standards API 5CT and GOST 632-80, as well as all other international pipe standards. The threading machines will go into operation in spring 2014.

Corinth Pipeworks orders JCOE® large-diameter pipe mill Corinth Pipeworks from Athens, Greece, has signed a contract with SMS Meer, Germany, for the supply of a JCOE® large-diameter pipe mill for longitudinally welded pipes. With this investment, Corinth Pipeworks is expanding its product range in order to meet the growing worldwide demand for high-strength pipes for oil and gas extraction and transit.

The new mill will be able to produce Longitudinal Submerged-Arc Welded (LSAW) pipes with outside diameters from 18 to 56 inches, wall thicknesses up to 40 mm and pipe lengths up to 18.3 m in highstrength steel grades up to X100. The annual capacity will be 400,000 t.

The pipes from Corinth Pipeworks will be used by its customers in future energy supply projects – for example in the Mediterranean region, the Gulf of Mexico, Latin America, West and East Africa and in the North Sea. Corinth Pipeworks has already an HF welded pipe plant With the JCOE® forming process an open-seam tube is produced and subsequently welded.

The new mill is scheduled for commissioning in the 1st quarter of 2015.

POSITIVE FORECAST FOR GLOBAL STEEL PRODUCTION As predicted by International Stainless Steel Forum about global stainless steel consumption, the second half of present year and entire 2014 will be marked out by a general increase in all products with a wide trend to further increase diffused worldwide.

Nuovi impianti SMS MEER

TMK Seversky Tube Works ordina filettatrici OAO Seversky Tubo TMK di Sverdlovsk, in Russia, ha fatto un ordine con SMS Meer, Germania, per due nuove macchine filettatrici, comprese le strutture di trasporto. Con queste nuove macchine, Seversky Tube Works sta espandendo le sue capacità di produzione di giunti premium.Le filettatrici di tipo CG 38/4 sono in grado di filettare i tubi della gamma del diametro 169-340 mm con spessori 7,3-16,5 mm, lunghezze fino a 13,5 m. A seconda del tipo di filettatura e diametro, le macchine producono tra 46 e 87 tubi all'ora.

Le macchine funzionano secondo il sistema "utensile fisso - rotazione tubo". La Corinth Pipeworks ordina la fornitura di una macchina di produzione tubi di grande diametro JCOE® Corinth Pipeworks da Atene, Grecia, ha firmato un contratto con SMS Meer, in Germania, per la fornitura di una macchina JCOE® per tubi di grande diametro saldati longitudinalmente. Con questo investimento, Corinth Pipeworks amplia la sua gamma di prodotti, al fine di soddisfare la crescente domanda mondiale di tubi ad alta resistenza per il petrolio ed estrazione di gas e di traporto.

Il nuovo impianto sarà in grado di produrre tubi saldati longitudinal-

mente ad arco sommerso (LSAW) con diametri esterni da 18 a 56 pollici, spessori fino a 40 mm e lunghezze dei tubi fino a 18,3 m ad alta resistenza di acciaio fino a X100. La capacità annuale sarà di 400.000 t.

Le tubazioni della Corinth Pipeworks saranno utilizzate dai suoi

clienti in futuri progetti di approvvigionamento energetico, per esempio nella regione del Mediterraneo, nel Golfo del Messico, in America Latina, Africa occidentale e orientale e nel Mare del Nord.

Milling Stainless Steel for Weld Seam Edge Preparation Fabricators of large stainless steel sheets are well aware of the stringent requirements for perfect weld joint preparation of containers and stainless steel pipes. The better the level of sheet edge preparation, the fewer are the issues to be faced during welding. While high quality weld edge preparation is a necessity to fulfil today's specifications, efficient and fast weld edge preparation is also required to keep production costs as low as possible. Traditional edge preparation methods (shearing, flame cutting, planing) are hardly up to today's standards, and are consequently receding into the background. The quality and running cost advantages of the now well established milled weld seam preparation technology as offered by LINSINGER are plain to see.

Shearing requires an overwidth of at least 15 mm. This high material wastage is very detrimental to running cost. Furthermore, deformations at the edge interfere with the welding process. While flame cutting leads to undesirable metal crystalline changes, planing is prone to ripple deformations in the sheet due to tracking issues.

In comparison, Milled Weld Seam Preparation produces mirror-like bevelled surfaces with no metal crystalline changes thanks to LINSINGER's well proven cold milling technology. The process is characterised by high degrees of precision and consistency, even with wavy sheet with uneven edges. Any waviness not already flattened by upstream driver rollers is detected

by LINSINGER sensors which control the milling heads.

These trace the wave contour with a high degree of precision and produce a constant milled bevel profile despite the sheet deformation. LINSINGER technology can also even out horizontally deformed sheets, which

unlike other processes only requires an overwidth of 1 mm to ensure a perfectly milled weld seam. This leads to significant material cost savings, especially in the light of ever increasing stainless steel prices. This is ready cash that LINSINGER customers enjoy together with enhanced ease of handling, lower overall costs and more convenient tools. The bottom line is significant benefit to the amortisation of the facility.

A milling machine manufactured by LINSINGER produces any edge profile geometry with high precision and speed. When it comes to machines that are used to process stainless steel, all parts that come into direct contact with the sample are made from stainless steel in order to rule out the possibility of the sheets being corroded due to direct contact with particles of structural steel. The differences between such a milling machine and a milling machine for black sheets are limited to the special designs of the milling heads, which feature special carbide cutting tips designed by LINSINGER. LINSINGER milling tools are manufactured in-house with tool holders. Instead of being attached directly to the milling body, the carbide cutting tips are screwed into tool holders. Only the tool holder needs replacing, even after years of wear.

The range of application of LINSINGER Sheet Milling Machines for Weld Edge Preparation covers everything from vessels to duplex or super duplex stainless steel pipes. These machines can be used to process stainless steel sheets with wall thickness ranging from 6 to 70 mm, sheet widths between 600 and 4000 mm and sheet lengths up to 18 m long, or longer with the twin head pull-thru type milling machine. Fresatura di acciaio inox per la preparazione del bordo per il cordone di saldatura I fabbricanti di fogli di grandi dimensioni in acciaio inox sono ben a conoscenza dei requisiti severi per una perfetta preparazione della saldatura congiunta di contenitori e tubazioni in acciaio inox. Migliore è il livello di preparazione dei bordi di lamiera, meno saranno i problemi da affrontare durante la saldatura. Mentre la preparazione del bordo ad alta qualità per la saldatura è una necessità per soddisfare le specifiche di oggi, è necessaria anche una preparazione efficace e veloce del bordo per mantenere i costi di produzione il più bassi possibili. I metodi tradizionali di preparazione dei bordi (tranciatura, taglio a fiamma, piallatura) sono quasi fuori dagli standard di oggi, e di conseguenza rimangono indietro.

La qualità e i vantaggi di costo della ormai consolidata tecnologia di fresatura del bordo per la preparazione del cordone di saldatura come offerto da LINSINGER sono evidenti.

La tranciatura richiede un sovrametallo di almeno 15 mm. Questo spreco di materiale è molto dannoso per il costo di esercizio.

Inoltre, le deformazioni sul bordo

interferiscono con il processo di saldatura. Mentre il taglio a fiamma porta a cambiamenti cristallini metallici indesiderati, la piallatura è soggetta a deformazioni di ondulazione della lamiera e causa di problemi di tracciamento.

In confronto, una preparazione fresata produce speculari superfici smussate senza cambiamenti cristallini sul metallo grazie alla collaudata tecnologia di fresatura a freddo di LINSINGER. Il processo è caratterizzato da elevati gradi di precisione e consistenza, anche con foglio ondulato con bordi irregolari.

Qualsiasi ondulazione non già appiattita dai rulli conducenti a monte è rilevata da sensori LINSINGER che controllano le teste di fresatura.

Questi tracciano il contorno dell’onda con un elevato grado di precisione e producono un profilo di smusso fresato costante nonostante la deformazione della lamiera. La tecnologia LINSINGER può anche lavorare fogli orizzontalmente deformati, e a differenza di altri processi richiede solo un sovrametallo di 1 mm per garantire una perfetta lavorazione. Questo porta a notevoli risparmi di materiale, in parti-

colare alla luce dei sempre crescenti prezzi dell'acciaio inossidabile. Questo è il denaro contante di cui i clienti LINSINGER godono insieme ad una maggiore facilità di utilizzo, minori costi complessivi e strumenti più convenienti. Una fresatrice prodotta da LINSINGER produce un bordo con qualsiasi geometria del profilo con elevata precisione e velocità.

Quando si tratta di macchine che vengono utilizzate per elaborare acciaio inox, tutte le parti che entrano in contatto diretto con il campione sono in acciaio inossidabile in modo da escludere la possibilità che i fogli vengano corrosi per contatto diretto con particelle di acciaio strutturale. Le differenze tra una fresatrice e una fresa per i fogli neri si limitano ai disegni speciali delle teste di fresatura, che dispongono di speciali punte da taglio a carburo progettate da LINSINGER. Le frese LINSINGER sono prodotte in-house con i portautensili. Invece di essere attaccate direttamente al corpo di fresatura, le punte da taglio in metallo duro sono avvitate ai portautensili. Solo il portautensile deve essere sostituito, anche dopo anni di usura.

Il campo di applicazione della fresatrice LINSINGER per la Preparazione del Bordo per la saldatura copre tutto, dagli acciai ai duplex o super duplex. Queste macchine possono essere utilizzate per elaborare fogli di acciaio inossidabile con spessore di parete compreso tra 6 e 70 mm, dimensioni delle lastre tra 600 e 4000 mm e lamiere di lunghezza fino a 18 m o più lunghe con la testa gemella che spinge la lamiera all’interno della macchina fresatrice. Adda Fer Meccanica Arabic mission For a prestigious tube manufacturer, who is located in Saudi Arabia, Adda Fer Meccanica has recently installed an important plant for the cutting, finishing and handling of pipes.

The supply, which has been taken in charge at the end of last year, will be used to complete what is already present and it concerns in particular, the design, construction and installation of a flying cut-off double blade for pipes up to 219 mm (8 inches), an end facing, a hydro test and a handling.

Twenty years of experience and the know-how accumulated over the years, has allowed AddaFer technicians to design solutions on precise customer specifications.

With this implementation, the Asian manufacturer will be able to increase his productivity and, at the same time, the pipe quality.

Here below please find the details of the installed equipment.

Flying cut off double blade DB8 The machine has been optimised in order to make a near-perfect in-line cut that is absolutely clean and free of distortion or burr.

All functions of the unit are managed by a microprocessor, which makes it possible to control the machine with a very high level of reliability, ensuring very precise cutting lengths without influencing the effective production speed on the basis of which the cut-off performance parameters are optimised.

The guaranteed bar length tolerance is ± 1.5 mm at the maximum operating speed, although significantly higher precision is also possible.

These cut-offs are fully automatic: once programmed they can operate without requiring the constant

presence of the operator at the control desk; these units are pre-tested at the factory prior to shipment.

Milling cut-off machine with chip conveyor: • Base: it is composed by an heavy structure in normalized welded sheet, in which, linear sliding guides are seated in the superior side, for the support of the cut carriage, there is a side lodging for the rack that allow the motion of the same carriage.

Shock absorbers and carriage block systems are mounted at the end of the base, for emergency, in order to avoid damages to the rack and pinion system.

• Carriage: It is composed by a normalized welded steel structure on which all tables have been worked for the support and the lodging of units for the sliding of the cut heads, the vices and the control group dimensioned for the tracking.

• The cut heads are two and work in opposite way both on longitudinal and transversal axe from the center of the tube. They are composed by a reduction gear properly dimensioned with “0” play gears which allow the rotation of the mandrel on which the blade is seated.

• The vices are lodged in 2 portals of big dimensions positioned close to blades in order to give the max stiffness to the system. They are powered by 1 hydraulic cylinder.

• The tracking group is manufactured with a rack and pinion control, manufactured with vertical axe.

• Motorization: The unit is equipped with 7 brushless motors controlled by digital inverter of last generation.

The profile of the tube is followed thanks to a dedicated software (round-square-rectangular).

In this way, the reduction of cutting time and the extraordinary grades of superficial finishing of the same tube are evidenced.

A double vice group both at inlet and outlet side arrange the blocking of the tube during the phase of cut in order to avoid dangerous vibrations.

The alignment is obtained through two lines of rolls, V shaped, controlled by electrical motor which provide to the alignment of tube with different length against the stacking unit before the transfer to the bevelling station.

A transfer system moves tubes transversally step by step; it is composed by chasers, one set fixed and one set movable, provides to the transfer of tubes to different stations for the execution of the complete working cycle.

Hydro test HT8 TUBE DIAMETER: 73 ÷ 219.1 mm.

TUBE LENGTH: 6 ÷ 13.5 m.

TUBE MAXIMUM THICKNESS: 8 mm.

MAXIMUM OPERATING PRESSURE: 250 bar Machine can test No. 2 tubes simultaneously at 250 bar till a diameter of 168.3 mm. For larger diameters, it is possible to test only one tube at time at 250 bar or No. 2 tubes simultaneously at lower pressure.

For example: - No 2 tubes with diameter 203.2 at the maximum test pressure of 173 bar.

- No 2 tubes with diameter 219.1 at the maximum test pressure of 148 bar.

The maximum test pressure must be set in function of the characteristics of the tube to be tested and in accordance with the regulations to use. The maximum weight of the transportable tube is Kg. 575 which corresponds to a pipe with 219.1 diameter, 8.2 thickness and 13.5 m. length.

The PLC always know the position of the pipe, where is necessary to move it and which kind of the Tube mill.

The rollers are driven by electric motor with inverter and a series of tilting arms.

• 4 places collecting station: It consists of a ramp that connects two parallel bogies, running on both tracks drowned in the soil and allow the formation of tube bundles during the normal working of the line.

Bundle can be formed with round or square shape and if requested content from protective wood sticks.

Both carts allow the sliding of the strap attachment and allow the hoisting crane.

Pipes positioning needs to be checked by the operator.

Adda Fer Meccanica missione araba Per un prestigioso produttore di tubi situato in Arabia Saudita, Adda Fer Meccanica ha recentemente installato un importante impianto per il taglio, la finitura e la movimentazione di tubi. Ogni testa di bisellatura è composta da una struttura con trasmissione tramite motore a corrente alternata ed inverter del mandrino.

Essie sono montate su un sistema di guide con pattini a rulli e il movimento per l'operazione di bisellatura è realizzato mediante una vite a sfere comandata da un servomotore.

Due gruppi di morse, spinte da un cilindro idraulico con sistema autocentrante, garantisce il blocco del tubo in modo efficace durante

l'operazione di bisellatura.

L'allineamento è ottenuto attraverso due linee di rulli sagomati a “V” comandate da motore elettrico; questo garantisce l'allineamento del tubo all'unità di impilaggio prima del trasferimento alla stazione di smussatura.

Un sistema di trasferimento si muove trasversalmente rispetto ai tubi ed è composto da inseguitori, una serie fissa ed una mobile, garantendo il trasferimento dei tubi attraverso le varie stazioni della linea per l'esecuzione del ciclo completo di lavorazione.

La massima pressione di prova deve essere impostata in funzione delle caratteristiche del tubo da provare ed in funzione delle normative da utilizzare.

Il massimo peso del tubo trasportabile è 575 Kg. Che corrisponde ad un tubo diametro 219.1 spessore 8.2 mm. e lunghezza 13.5 m.

• 136 m. Trasferitore a gravità: Realizzato in carpenteria pesante dove sono alloggiati sensori di pressione per il controllo d’ingresso ed uscita tubi.

• 136 m. Trasferitore motorizzato: Realizzato in carpenteria pesante con una catena motorizzata che funziona tramite sensori di prossimità che controllano sempre la posizione del tubo ed in grado di trasferirlo alle altre parti della linea: End Facing, Hydro Test e confezionamento.

Il PLC sa sempre la posizione del tubo e dove è necessario spostarlo.

I rulli sono azionati da motore elettrico con inverter e una serie di bracci basculanti.

• 4 postazioni di raccolta: Si compone di una rampa che collega due carrelli paralleli, e consente la formazione di fasci di tubi durante il normale funzionamento della linea.

Il fascio può essere realizzato rotondo o quadrato con bastoni di legno di protezione.

Entrambi i carrelli permettono lo scorrimento della cinghia per il sollevamento con gru.

New production site at Grüsch TRUMPF Laser Marking Systems AG is expanding by about 3,300 square meters the floor space for its product development and manufacturing activities at Grüsch, Switzerland. The investment volume for the new building comes to 17 million Swiss francs (13.7 million euros or 17.8 million USD). Opening ceremonies took place on June 4, 2013, following only slightly more than a year of construction work. Some 150 guests were in attendance.

With this new structure TRUMPF is responding to the tremendous demand, all around the world, for its marking lasers. “Our previous capacities were simply no longer able to handle the numbers of incoming orders. At groundbreaking in March 2012, order receipts had risen by 70 percent in comparison with the year before. We will be introducing two entirely new TruMark product lines during the upcoming business year. That will certainly support our plans for continuing growth,” explains Andreas Conzelmann, general manager at TRUMPF Laser Marking Systems AG. “I am especially proud of the fact that we are celebrating not only the expansion of the facilities

here, but also the ten thousandth marking laser to be built in Grüsch,” Conzelmann noted. The new structure doubles the production floor space formerly available.

The building is outfitted with the most modern technology and an isolated clean room meeting high cleanliness standards - significant in terms of product quality. The manufacturing and logistics processes in this new building are fully aligned with the TRUMPF Synchro production system. All the work is now carried out on a single level, making for easier control of the procedures. All in all, this new structure has brought about a significant improvement in manufacturing and logistics processes. TRUMPF Laser Marking Systems AG was founded in 2001 and, since its formation, has generated revenues of more than 600 million Swiss francs (484 million euros, 629 million USD). Pursuing tasks here in the development, production, service and administration departments are 110 employees.

With this new structure, TRUMPF is making a clear commitment to the Grüsch campus in Prättigau Valley, in the Canton of Graubünden. “Second only to Schramberg, Grüsch is a major center for the development and production of solid-state lasers. The ten thousand marking lasers already in place give us good reason to look optimistically into the future,” reported Peter Leibinger, Vice Chairman of the TRUMPF GmbH + Co. KG and President of the Laser Technology and Electronics Division. “The Prättigau area is home to many highly educated and committed employees with excellent skills. That is why we are continuing to expand the site,” according to Leibinger.

More than thirty employees will be manufacturing marking lasers in the new building. Responsible for planning the building and supervising the construction were Barkow Leibinger architectural offices in Berlin.

Along with the TRUMPF buildings already in place at Grüsch, the pavilion blends in harmoniously with the Alpine panorama. When planning and erecting the building, great attention was attached to sustainability.

That is why renewable materials such as wood were selected. Over and above that, only resources available in abundant quantities - including gravel, limestone and glass - were used in construction. The building is also distinguished by the ergonomically correct design of its workplaces.

VICTREX® PEEK for Nuclear Plant VICTREX® PEEK SELECTED FOR NUCLEAR REACTOR ABEYANCE SEAL SYSTEM EGC Critical Components has selected VICTREX® PEEK for a self-actuated abeyance seal system in one of the most performance-critical industries, nuclear energy generation. The material selection and design of this application was created for a first-to-market OEM supplier requiring an abeyance seal to manage potential reactor coolant leaks during an emergency shutdown. The newly designed seal is self-actuated without the need of springs or pistons.

Tests have shown this abeyance sealing system alone has added an additional 96 hours of continuous use under the most rigorous operating environments meeting the higher demands of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).

A nuclear reactor’s primary cooling pump (PCP) relies on the multi-stage abeyance sealing system, including actuation and back-up rings, to limit the leakage of the reactor coolant fluid along the pump shaft. These components are critical to the pressure boundary

system. Reactor cooling systems are tested heavily and are expected to withstand continuous service of more than 15 years. Testing of the EGC patented sealing system included two hours in 400°F (204°C) water with a sealing pressure of 750 psi (51.7 bar). Once completed, the temperature and pressure were increased to 560°F (292°C) and 1250 psi (86.2 bar), respectively. The test results concluded that even under extreme conditions and loss of seal cooling, the VICTREX PEEK ring within the abeyance seal system was intact with no appreciable loss of reactor coolant.

Several grades of VICTREX PEEK polymers have been specified by EGC Critical Components for more than 15 years due to its superior quality, security of supply and excellent material properties. “Victrex has been a great supplier and partner to EGC Critical Components. Il VICTREX® PEEK per un impianto nucleare IL VICTREX® PEEK SELEZIONATO PER UN SISTEMA DI TENUTA BLOCCANTE DI UN REATTORE NUCLEARE La EGC Critical Components ha selezionato il polimero VICTREX® PEEK per un sistema di tenuta autobloccante destinato ad uno dei comparti industriali più complesso e critico: quello dell'energia nucleare.

La selezione del materiale e il progetto di questa applicazione nascono per una prima introduzione sul mercato da parte del fornitore OEM che richiedeva una tenuta bloccante destinata alla gestione delle possibili perdite di refrigerante del reattore durante la chiusura di emergenza.

La tenuta, di nuova concezione, è in grado di azionarsi da sola senza la necessità di molle o pistoni. Le prove condotte mostrano che questo sistema di tenuta autobloccante è in grado di aggiungere un prolungamento di utilizzo di ulteriori 96 ore nell'ambito dei contesti operativi più difficili, rispondendo ai requisiti più elevati previsti dalla Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).

Una pompa di raffreddamento primaria del reattore nucleare (PCP – Primary Cooling Pump) si appoggia sul sistema di tenuta autobloccante, inclusi gli attuatori e gli anelli di tenuta comprese per limitare la perdita del fluido refrigerante del reattore lungo l'albero della pompa.

Tali componenti hanno una funzione critica per il sistema di pressione che si trova in prossimità.

I sistemi di raffreddamento del reattore sono sottoposti a prove molto severe e hanno una spettanza di utilizzo pari a oltre quindici

anni. I test dei sistemi di tenuta brevettati della EGC prevedono due ore di immersione in acqua a 204 °C con una pressione pari a 750 psi (51,7 bar).

Una volta completato il test, sia la temperatura che la pressione vengono aumentate, rispettivamente a 292 °C e 1250 psi (86,2 bar). I risultati ottenuti mostrano che, anche in condizioni estreme e perdita di refrigerante, la tenuta realizzata in

New Quacker's lubricants Quaker Chemical Shines as a Front to Back Supplier for the Tube and Pipe Industry Tube manufacturers generally focus on changing the shape of a metal workpiece, whether through cutting, bending, end forming or some other process. Often, this shaping requires a fluid to prevent friction, overheating or premature wear. Another focus is the prevention of corrosion. Some fabricators rely on metalworking fluid to provide both in-process and final corrosion protections while others use a final process to apply a short- to long-term corrosion preventive.

Through either process the corrosion prevention agents prevent corrosion of the steel by inhibiting the interaction with oxygen in the atmosphere. Whether the corrosion takes the form of red rust or black stain the process is similar: Oxidation of the metal is linked to reduction of other constituents in the process, including the metalworking fluids. Although corrosion is an overall problem in the steel industry, tube and pipe manufacturing faces similar challenges given the round, hollow shape of the metal. Quaker Chemical is able to provide valuable expertise to its customers that address corrosion related issues within these industries. For example, a major North American tube and pipe manufacturer was struggling with premature corrosion on pipes resulting in end user warranty claims causing revenue losses. The manufacturer determined that if it could find a coating that had more flexibility, and increased corrosion protection, there was an opportunity to sell more tonnage. Quaker Chemical, a supplier of process fluids and coatings, helped the manufacturer identify process issues where heavy mill oil was present on incoming steel impacting coating adhesion and residual coolant on the pipes from the washing process. Further, gummy deposits from the tube forming and welding operations were present causing appearance and dirt issues on the end

product. Finally, vacuum issues affected the coating application. Quaker’s solution was QUAKERCOAT™ UV 036, a UV coating, which helped solve the identified issues, and provided a more flexible coating to meet the needs of the sister mill. Quaker also recommended switching to a more compatible coolant, and an improved cleaner and dewatering aid. By eliminating the warranty claims Quaker helped increase the manufacturer’s profits improving quality and consistency among their mills. Quaker’s expertise in mill processes, in combination with its premium quality process fluids, resulted in a positive impact on its customer’s business and operations.

Quaker Chemical’s cold pilger lubricants, ATLAS™ 3374-140 and ATLAS™ 3374 – DPX, provide an alternative to the traditional chlorinated paraffin containing products for lubrication in the pilgering process. These two products were formulated together and designed to be fully compatible for internal and external lubrication. ATLAS 3374-140 and 3374-DPX have successfully replaced their predecessors and can be applied on stainless steel as well as on duplex alloys, since the products are non- chlorine containing and provide extreme pressure (EP) lubrication through sulfur. The ATLAS 3374 brand provides an alternative that not only maintains productivity, but also easy disposal. Other advantages from this product line are secondary tool wear, high temperature resistance, and suitability for stainless steel deep drawing.

Quaker Chemical brilla come Fornitore completo per l’industria del tubo e condotte I produttori di tubi in genere si concentrano su come cambiare la forma di un pezzo di metallo, sia per mezzo del taglio, della piegatura, della sagomatura o di qualche altro processo. Spesso, queste lavorazioni richiedono un fluido per evitare attriti, surriscaldamento o prematura usura.

Un altro obiettivo è la prevenzione della corrosione. The majority of optical systems equipped with laser or CCD cameras measure the shadow height of a product.

This, however, like the human eye, is subject to heavy fluctuation if the product is not precisely aligned with the laser beam. A deviation of a twist angle of 1 degree may already lie outside the permissible tolerance range.

So how can perfect production of flat profiles and profile wires be ensured?

Our answer is in our product range. It includes various solutions for in-line height and width measurement of profiles which are able to measure with extremely high precision, regardless of position and twist, and thus.

NO worries about incorrect measurement. Robust and compact measuring systems can easily be integrated in existing production lines. Measurements are performed using either laser technology (ODAC®, DVW 1, DVO 2) or the light-cut method with image processing (PROFILEMASTER® PMM 30/50/80).

Measuring with laser technology Our ODAC® laser measuring heads measure the height and width of any profile without contact and ultra-fast (1,200 measurements/s). The extremely dirt-resistant scanners ensure maximum error detection and permanent calibration - incomparable with manual measurement methods and, in view of tight manufacturing tolerances, an advance in quality in every respect.

The pivoting mechanism of the DVW 1 support rotates the ODAC® laser measuring heads mounted on it continuously around the measuring axis within +/-2.5° , +/-5°, +/-7.5° or +/-10°. Extremely accurate measurements are ensured by the continuously pivoting motion of the laser heads together with the electronic "minimal value detection" of the relevant dimension.

With the DVO 2 oscillating device for ODAC®, the angle can be increased to +/-50°, thereby ensuring maximum possible measurements of profile dimensions. The values acquired from the DVW 1/DVO 2 and ODAC® are processed via a connected USYS system and used for automated production monitoring.

Measuring with the light-cut method Product quality can also be assured using image processing profile measuring systems.

Our PROFILEMASTER® PMM 30/50/80 are non-contact in-line and off-line high-tech systems for measuring profiles.

The CCD megapixel gigabit Ethernet cameras used measure fields with diameters of within 30, 50 or 80mm.

One to six laser / camera modules continuously measure the cross-section of the moving profile. A powerful PC-based processor adds the cameras' partial images, consisting of straight lines and curves, together to yield the momentary cross-section of the profile. All relevant dimensions such as width, height, thickness, angle and radii are added together to form the full cross-sectional picture.

TeZetCAD "All in One" TeZetCAD - once more surprisingly innovative with „All in One“ The customers of the world market leader in tube specialised software are used to news about innovations at shorter intervals. Unexpected new functions such as interfaces to benders or import/export data to other programs, more selection for documentation, or even inspecting data with the mouse instead of measuring with a measuring device.

This means designer, controller or production preparation staff no longer needs to go to the production facilities to do their work, but can stay in their offices. As a proverb says „great events often come from little causes“ these are small but fine innovations in TeZetCAD, which influence the production process positively, fulfil the customers wishes and keep the software package of topical interest.

Because the industry uses more and more tubes with add-ons like hangers, specially treated centres of pressure, connection parts, flanges etc. which also need to be controlled and documented because of the fitting accuracy, the TeZetCAD software, which was up

to now a specialised tube software, has been extended with a function which was until now more or less ignored – the ability to be able to measure and handle such data together with the tube and to meet the customer requirements. Often the add-on parts must be produced and delivered within a minimal tolerance because otherwise the counterpart would not fit.

Therefore TeZet Technik AG has extended the TeZetCAD software to laser scanning for geometric parts on tubes and in relation to tubes. The new

module „geometric parts“ runs under Windows XP and Windows 7. If the customer has measured the geometric parts with another software in the past and could manage it, he now can import the file and drawings into TeZetCAD via the TeZet interfaces IGES, STL or STEP and manipulate according to the tube specification, for instance meshes or point clouds.

These TeZetCAD interfaces are programmed specifically for tubes and cannot be used for „only geometric parts“ software. Instead of selecting points, using the lasso or smoothing the measured parts, TeZetCAD measures virtually with the mouse with the TeZetCAD function „check points on object against Master-IGES.“ Another very practical new function which could help other departments that do not have, access to the measuring device, but nevertheless are dependent on the data. In this function „measure virtual“ the mouse can rollover the drawing on the screen to each xyz point, especially it is possible to turn and rotate the part which should be measured.

A new era started since TeZetCAD now has a status of „All in One“ with its tube specialised software due to the integration of the measurement and manipulation of geometric parts which are in relation to tubes. This new function was especially created for the TeZetCAD software, corresponds with tube data and cannot be integrated into other software.

Parallel to this Klaus Leistritz, CEO der TeZet Technik AG presents another innovation relative to measuring devices. Because optical gauges and measuring arms often are too small for a 3D volume for big or long tubes, or even if they are too heavy to bring them to the optical devices or to the measuring tables with the measuring arms. A new freehand scanner will be presented at the EMO 2013 in Hannover at the booth of TeZet Technik AG. With this novelty you can go to the objects which should be controlled. Here are the details: a blue light scanner which can scan reflective materials, even glass. But despite this innovative technology we cannot do without the smallest measuring arm „Microscribe“. This is a cost efficient device in the tube business and is sufficient to measure even rocket tubes.

TeZetCAD "Tutto in Uno" TeZetCAD - ancora una volta sorprendentemente innovativo con "All in One" I clienti del leader di mercato mondiale di software specializzati nel tubo sono abituati a notizie sulle innovazioni a intervalli brevi. Inaspettate nuove funzioni come le interfacce per piegatrici o import / export di dati verso altri programmi, più scelte per la documentazione, o anche dati di ispezione con il mouse invece di misurare con un dispositivo di misurazione. World’s largest section bender machine in the world AMOB HAS RECENTLY SECURED AND EXECUTED MAJOR CONTRACT FOR THE LARGEST SECTION BENDING MACHINE IN THE WORLD This machine was developed also for one of the world’s biggest companies in fields such as cement, mining, oil, gas and petrochemical. AMOB’S scope of work in this contract envisaged design, manufacture, supply, installation & maintenance but also engineering consultancy targeting reduced cycle times and providing accurate and repeated bends of large mild steel profiles with extreme tight, both plane and radius, tolerances.

The president of this multinational company that already had three other AMOB machines in their production said “relations with AMOB are since day one, the most trustful, straightforward and professional as a customer/supplier relation can be and in every occasion AMOB showed that they are up to the task; it was an easy decision to choose once more AMOB as our partner for this deal…” and continued “…the most impressive in this equipment was that they were able to get under the pre-specified specs allowed by our engineers in a consistent 37% basis.”

This gigantic machine was 100% designed and built in AMOB’s recent renewed 16.000 sqm production facilities in Portugal and has some highly impressive numbers such as 175 Tons frame, 540mm shafts, 238 kW installed power and will be transported in 5 trucks. The result is a machine with 20.000cm3 section modulus and the capacity to bend up to 440x440mm bar as well as HEB1000 with residual material waste.

Questa macchina è stata anche sviluppata per alcune delle più grandi aziende al mondo nei settori del cemento, del minerario, del petrolifero, del gas e del petrolchimico. Il presidente di questa azienda multinazionale che già aveva altre tre macchine AMOB nella loro produzione ha detto che "i rapporti con AMOB sono fin dal primo giorno, semplici, lineari e professionali, come un rapporto cliente / fornitore deve essere e in ogni occasione la AMOB ha dimostrato che essi sono all'altezza del compito,

pertanto è stata una decisione semplice scegliere ancora una volta AMOB come nostro partner per questo affare ... "ed ha continuato" ...la cosa più impressionante in questa apparecchiatura era che essi erano in grado di arrivare sotto le specifiche pre-specificate consentite dai nostri ingegneri in una base costante del 37%. " Questa gigantesca macchina è stata progettata e costruita al 100% in questi ultimi rinnovati 16.000 mq di impianti di produzione della AMOB in Portogallo e presenta alcuni numeri impressionanti come il telaio da 175 tonnellate, alberi di 540 millimetri, 238 kW di potenza installata e sarà trasportata in 5 camion. Il risultato è una macchina con un modulo a sezione da 20.000 cm3 e con una capacità di piegare fino a barre da 440x440mm nonché HEB1000 con uno spreco di materiale residuo.

L’ amministratore delegato AMOB spiega: "Mentre le presse per la formazione di questi pezzi impiegano circa 9 ore, i nostri clienti richie-

dono una media di soli 12 minuti per una curva ..." una grande sfida che AMOB accettò piena di energia "... in 53 anni di esperienza abbiamo sviluppato la produzione di macchine di piegatura a freddo progettate appositamente per applicazioni pesanti, questo è stato un altro passo avanti nel nostro continuo progresso ".

After completing the “full electric” offer in diameters up to 80 mm, the Company CRIPPA has currently entered into the large diameter field with full rights; with a real machinery platform which uses the entire experience from CRIPPA that was acquired across over 60 years of activity, and which interprets and achieves customers’ needs and market trends.

There are two new models of these bending machines, the “CA N114” and the “CA N150”.

Dopo aver completato l’offerta “full electric” nei diametri fino a 80 mm, la Società CRIPPA entra oggi a pieno titolo nel settore dei grandi diametri, con una vera e propria “piattaforma” di macchine che si avvalgono di tutta l’esperienza CRIPPA maturata in oltre 60 anni di attività e che interpretano le necessità dei clienti e le tendenze del mercato. Per ora i modelli “new entry” di recentissima realizzazione, sono le macchina CA N114 e CA N150.

ASPETTI TECNICO PRODUTTIVI - Macchine completamente programmabili con utilizzo del Software grafico di interfacciamento “UII” sviluppato da CRIPPA che garantisce anche la possibilità di realizzare accurate analisi di fattibilità e di simulare fedelmente la curvatura assicurando una rapida messa in produzione e la riuscita della lavorazione sin dalla prima campionatura.

CONCLUSIONE Si potrebbero citare numerosi altri elementi distintivi e soluzioni progettuali apparentemente secondari ma l’ideale, per tutti coloro che operano nei settori automotive ( camion e movimento terra ), ferroviario, aeronautico ed impiantistico e che sono alle prese con curve gravose su tubi di grande diametro, raggi di curvatura stretti e spessori ridotti è “toccare con mano” questi nuovi prodotti, osservandoli mentre operano e facendoseli illustrare dai tecnici della Società CRIPPA, che sapranno accompagnarli in un "viaggio nella tecnologia, curva dopo curva”

EU and industry join forces for innovation Commission proposal would see €22bn invested in research and innovation for health, transport and the environment over the next 7 years.

The funding would support partnerships between the European Commission, EU countries and industry from 2014 in 5 areas: innovative medicines, aeronautics, biobased industries, fuel cells/hydrogen and electronics. A partnership on air traffic management will continue under a different set-up.

These sectors provide good quality jobs, tackle major challenges that can’t be solved by individual countries or companies alone, and are key to Europe’s competitiveness. The research is long-term, large-scale and often high-risk.

Under the proposal, funding from the next HYPERLINK "http://ec.europa.eu/research/horizon2020/index_en.cf m" \o "EU research programme" \t "_blank" EU research programme, Horizon 2020, would be boosted by some €10bn from industry and €4bn from national governments.

In addition, the EU funding will support public-public partnerships (Commission and EU countries) addressing treatment for poverty-related diseases, industrial measurement technologies, help for small high-tech companies, and tools to help the elderly and disabled live safely in their own homes.

Three of the public-private partnerships are already in place, and have had impressive results: - a hydrogen-powered fork lift truck - new types of hydrogen-powered buses - more efficient electric vehicles - a lighter aircraft wing, able to reduce aviation CO2 emissions by more than 20% - discoveries on diabetes treatments The partnerships work by making public calls for project proposals – to which small and large companies, universities, research organisations or other bodies respond. Proposals go through a peer review before selection for funding.

This funding will come from the EU budget for research in 2014-20 – the Horizon 2020 programme – amounting to some €79bn (the exact figure is still under discussion between the Commission, MEPs and national governments).

Keeping Europe’s steel sector competitive Action plan tackles fall in demand, environmental challenges and unfair competition with focus on costcutting and innovation.

The EU is the second-largest producer of steel worldwide, accounting for 11% of global output and employing over 360 000 people.

But times are hard. Demand has fallen with the global economic downturn, energy costs continue to rise, many raw materials must be imported, competition is often unfair and meeting environmental requirements

With global demand forecast to increase by 2025, it is in Europe’s interests to help the industry become more competitive. A newly released EU Commission action plan for the European steel industry tackles 7 key areas: Regulation The EU will assess the regulatory burden on the steel industry, checking that EU laws are not creating extra costs.

Boosting demand The construction and automotive sectors account for around 40% of demand between them, and both have been hit by the economic crisis. Two EU initiatives will stimulate these sectors (CARS2020 and Sustainable Construction).

Fair competition Some non-EU countries have introduced barriers to EU exports, or incentives for their own exports, giving an unfair advantage to their own companies. The EU will continue to negotiate free-trade agreements with nonEU countries, and challenge unfair practices.

Bringing down energy costs Energy accounts for around 40% of the costs of producing steel, and European companies pay more than most of their competitors. The EU’s plan to interlink its energy market will increase competition and lower costs.

Climate policy Clear environmental rules would encourage the investment needed to adapt to greener technologies.

The Commission will promote best practices, but countries must also look into national polices affecting prices and set aside funding for energy efficiency projects.

Innovation Between 2014 and 2020, almost €18 billion in EU funding will be available for strengthening industrial leadership in innovation through the Horizon 2020 research programme.

L'UE e le imprese uniscono le forze per promuovere l’innovazione La Commissione propone di investire nei prossimi sette anni 22 miliardi di euro per la ricerca e l'innovazione nei settori sanità, trasporti e ambiente.

I fondi sono destinati a sostenere i partenariati tra Commissione europea, paesi dell’UE e industria a partire dal 2014 in cinque settori: medicinali innovativi, aeronautica, bioindustrie, celle a combustibile / idrogeno ed elettronica. Il partenariato in materia di gestione del traffico aereo proseguirà con un assetto diverso.

Questi settori forniscono posti di lavoro di qualità, danno risposta ai grandi problemi che non possono essere risolti dai singoli paesi o dalle singole imprese e sono essenziali per la competitività dell’Europa. La ricerca è un'attività a lungo termine, su vasta scala e ad alto rischio.

La Commissione propone di aggiungere ai finanziamenti del prossimo programma di ricerca dell’UE (Orizzonte 2020) un importo di circa 10 miliardi di euro e un altro di 4 miliardi di euro, forniti rispettivamente dall'industria e dai governi nazionali.

I fondi europei sosterranno anche i partenariati pubblico-pubblico (Commissione e paesi dell’UE) riguardanti la cura delle malattie legate alla povertà, tecnologie di misurazione in ambito industriale, gli aiuti alle piccole imprese ad alta tecnologia e gli strumenti per aiutare anziani e disabili a vivere in condizioni di sicurezza nelle proprie case.

Tre partenariati pubblico-privato sono già attivi e hanno ottenuto risultati impressionanti: - un carrello elevatore alimentato a idrogeno

- nuovi tipi di autobus a idrogeno - vetture elettriche più efficienti - un'ala di aeromobile più leggera, in grado di ridurre le emissioni di CO2 di oltre il 20% - scoperte riguardo alla cura del diabete.

I partenariati pubblicano inviti a presentare proposte di progetti, ai quali rispondono piccole e grandi imprese, università, enti di ricerca o altri organismi. Prima di essere selezionate, le proposte sono soggette a una valutazione inter pares.

I fondi proverranno dal bilancio dell’UE destinato alla ricerca per il periodo 2014-2020 nel quadro del programma Orizzonte 2020, che dispone di una dotazione di circa 79 miliardi di euro (la cifra esatta deve essere ancora stabilita congiuntamente da Commissione, Parlamento europeo e governi nazionali).

Preservare la competitività della siderurgia europea Il piano d'azione affronta problemi come il calo della domanda, le sfide ambientali e la concorrenza sleale, con una particolare attenzione alla riduzione dei costi e all'innovazione. IGBT laser annealing The Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) market is constantly growing because of significant advantages IGBTs offer compared to other transistor devices such as high voltage capability, low ON-resistance, ease of drive, fast switching speeds, robustness, etc.

One of the key factors contributing to this market growth is the increasing demand in automotive and industrial applications, including renewable energy, communications, medical, lighting and transportation.

IGBTs are manufactured on mechanically thinned wafers with a typical thickness of 100 µm or less. In order to establish a field stop and/or emitter layer on the rear side of the wafer, deep-implanted doping elements (like phosphorous or boron) have to be activated through a high-temperature annealing process towards the end of the FEOL process chain.

Very often, the sensitive devices on the wafer front side are protected by an attached tape. Due to low damage temperatures of the tape, the heat-sensitivity of the front side devices, as well as a non-uniform heat distribution in the processing chamber, conventional oven activation is characterized by low activation levels and rates. ROFIN’s laser annealing process has been developed to overcome these issues and to provide significantly higher process stability and yield at competitive costs/wafer levels. Laser annealing deepactivates the dopants and simultaneously prevents damage to the wafer front side and the protection tape. The laser allows for precise depth control of the field stop and/or emitter layer activation in the range of up to 2 µm. With activation rates exceeding 90%, ROFIN’s IGBT laser annealing solution is far superior to conventional methods.

Wafer marking ROFIN’s Waferlase® 200/300/450 systems produce traceable markings on transparent, semitransparent and opaque wafer materials.

Two methods - hard and debris-free marking are used which differ in terms of process, depth and location of the mark. Debris-free marking in clean-room environment is achieved solely by melting of the silicon wafer surface.

ROFIN's new patent-pending marking technology allows the user to precisely control the marking depth ranging from less than 1 µm to 7 µm. The debris-free marking process uses a tailormade IC–marking laser source with 532 nm wavelength.

Al fine di stabilire un field stop e / o strato emettitore sul lato posteriore del wafer, vengono impiantati elementi in profondità (come fosforo o boro) che devono essere attivati attraverso un processo di ricottura ad alta temperatura verso la fine della catena di processo FEOL . Premiere of wire South America and continuation of TUBOTECH success story in São Paulo wire South America and TUBOTECH invite international exhibitors to São Paulo.

The first-ever wire South America - International Wire and Cable Fair – will be staged at the Exposições Imigrantes exhibition centre in São Paulo from 1 to 3 October 2013. The inaugural edition of the trade fair for wire and cable production and finishing will take place in parallel with TUBOTECH – 7th International Trade Fair for Pipes, Valves, Fittings and Components.

Exhibitors at wire South America and TUBOTECH will present their new products on a total floor space of 13,000 square meters. Some 150 exhibitors will showcase their innovations from the wire and cable manufacturing and finishing, process engineering tools and auxiliary components, and measurement, control and test engineering sectors. The seventh TUBOTECH, an event that had a great attendance record of over 18,000 trade visitors back in 2011, will offer a forum for some 300 exhibitors presenting a broad overview of the tube manufacturing and processing sector, as well as

The conditions in the run-up to the wire South America and TUBOTECH events in São Paulo are promising: According to a report by GTAI (Germany Trade and Invest), the strength of Brazil’s construction, automotive and consumer electronics sectors is causing a sharp rise in the demand for wire, cable, and tube and pipe products. Infrastructure expansion, the boom in the construction industry, increasing investment in capital goods and favourable market conditions in the consumer goods industry are all generating strong momentum.

Wire and Tube Southeast ASIA 2013 Robust regional growth draws strong international appeal at wire and Tube Southeast ASIA 2013 wire and Tube Southeast ASIA returns to The Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) from 17 – 19 September 2013 in Bangkok, Thailand. La macchina può lavorare tubi a sezione tonda, quadra e rettangolare su diametri compresi tra 20 e 145 mm.

E’ possibile lavorare tubi di diverso diametro soltanto con la semplice sostituzione dei rulli di contatto.

L’angolo d’innesto è regolabile da 30° a 90° ed inoltre è possibile effettuare gole destre e sinistre senza bisogno di ruotare il tubo nella morsa.

APOLLO Srl TWIN WITH MAch 3 TWIN punching lines, which are our strength, are produced in different lengths and can be equipped with an automatic storing unit for loading and unloading the tubes, what reduces the operator’s work to the minimum.

The operator can work safely thanks to photocell barriers integrated to solid yellow or black nets, which are 2 metres high and arranged all around the machine.

Our TWIN can punch 4 slots at a time and process two tubes contemporaneously, thus doubling productivity; it is equipped with two opposing heads and can be supplied with a third vertical head. As far as materials and applications are concerned, the tools are technologically innovatory, what lets the tubes slide through the machine very quickly and avoids them to get scratched. The machine can process either semi-oval or rectangular tubes with no bubbles thanks to an exclusive system of ours. Another important aspect is the quick change of tools and accessories by means of joints; this system is specific for reducing the use of screws to the minimum.

Working precision: ± 0,2 mm from first to last hole. Apollo Srl has first produced MACH 3, a CNC Cartesian axis manipulator for loading the tubes to punch and unloading the punched tubes on two pallets. It has specifically been thought to be combined to our punching line Twin, but it can also be combined to other punching lines by Apollo. The size of the tubes can quickly be changed by means of a magnetic gripper that allows the tubes to be arranged precisely and quickly. This manipulator makes the punching line fully automatic with a safe arrangement of the tubes.

The wraps are off - Behringer unveils its new HBE Dynamic series to an eager public for the very first time at the EMO 2013 in Hanover. It has been heralded as the answer to ever growing market demands for more efficient, more economical and more precise sawing machines. “Increased performance coupled with reduced energy consumption, a smaller footprint, and improved occupational safety without compromising handling simplicity were only part of the product brief for the development team working on this new machine”, recalls CEO Christian Behringer. Available in four model types – 261, 321, 411 and 511 with corresponding cutting ranges – the new HBE Dynamic series will cover a broad application spectrum for the steel trade, for mechanical engineering, tool making and for high-end metalworking shops.

Impressive economy and minimized noise With an outstanding tool life of over 400 sawing cuts in 200 mm dia. 42CrMo4 material, for instance, the new HBE261A Dynamic performs well above standard, taking even the most stringent demands easily in its stride. Playing a key role in this achievement are proven Behringer features such as further improved cutting pressure control, which consistently helps prevent tool overload. A stable saw frame made of vibration-damped grey cast iron and doublesided bearings for the band wheels take care of minimized noise and optimum cutting precision. Tests have revealed increases in tool life of up to 30 per cent, with a visible improvement to the quality of cut surfaces. The inclined position of the band wheels also helps protect the bandsaw blades as a result of reduced flexural stress.

No-compromise energy efficiency Production using minimal resources and efficient, sustainable use of energy are recurring themes which are constantly in the news. Rising energy prices mean that companies are having to rethink their existing processes and develop innovative technological solutions to achieve higher output with lower energy input. “With the new HBE Dynamic series, we are proving that energy efficiency and high-performance hydraulics are not a contradiction in terms”, explains Christian Behringer. With the use of state-of-the-art frequency-controlled drive systems from renowned manufacturers and application-oriented gear speeds, a simple kW motor output specification is no longer any guarantee of high cutting output. The optimal and constant bending radii do not deform the bent pipes. A QUANTUM LEAP IN SAWING TECHNOLOGY Gebrüder Lennartz GmbH & Co KG, from Remscheid, Germany, the world market leader in manufacturing and supplying carbidetipped circular saw blades for the ferrous and non-ferrous industry, is pleased to present a totally new development in saw blade technology.

The X-max blade is a circular tipped saw blade designed for cutting special and high alloy steel produced by the seamless tube, forging, aircraft and automotive industries. Due to continuous inquiries for circular saw blades for cutting high chromium steel with more than 10% chrome, nickel base alloys, stainless steel, Duplex and Super Duplex, Lennartz is proud to offer a suitable cutting tool to meet the customer’s requirements. Previously, it was almost impossible to cut these materials economically with carbide-tipped saw blades because of the very low wear life in relation to the cost of the blade. Successful trials together with targeted customers, users and machine manufacturers have shown that the X-max blade is able to achieve life times which are 5 – 7 times higher than conventional circular saw blades. Cutting the X20Cr13 grade, the X-max reached a material removal of nearly 16m². Conventional blades reach a material removal of 3m² maximum. The same results were proven when cutting P91/T91. The achieved wear life is 9 – 13m² compared to 3 – 5m².

In the past alloys that were nearly impossible to cut with any saw blade, are now easy work for the X-max blade.

With the X-max blade one customer achieved a material removal of more than 7m² when cutting Super Duplex material. Further wear life tests and enhancements are planned to improve the blades performance even more.

Using the X-max blade is an enormous advantage for every application with difficult alloys or steel grades. This applies for cutting tubes (single or layer) as well as for cutting billets.

L'X-max è una lama circolare progettata per tagliare l'acciaio e leghe speciali di tubi senza saldatura prodotti dall’industria della forgiatura dell’aereonautica e dall'industria automobilistica.

Grazie alle continue richieste di seghe circolari per il taglio di acciaio al cromo con oltre il 10% di cromo, leghe di nichel, acciaio inossidabile, duplex e super duplex, Lennartz è orgogliosa di offrire uno strumento adeguato di taglio per soddisfare le esigenze del cliente. In precedenza, era quasi impossibile tagliare questi materiali economicamente con lame a carburo a causa della vita molto bassa in relazione al costo della lama.

Sperimentazioni di successo insieme a clienti, utenti e costruttori di macchine selezionati hanno dimostrato che l'X-max lama è in grado di ottenere tempi di vita, che sono 5 - 7 volte superiori rispetto alle convenzionali seghe circolari. Tagliare l’ X20Cr13 è possibile con l'X-max che ha raggiunto una rimozione di materiale di circa 16m ². Le lame convenzionali raggiungono una rimozione massima di materiale di 3m². Gli stessi risultati sono stati dimostrati durante il taglio P91/T91. La vita raggiunta è di 9 - 13m² rispetto al 3 - 5 m². Nel passato era quasi impossibile da tagliare le leghe con una lama, ora il lavoro è diventato più facile grazie alle lame X-max.

Con l'X-max un cliente ha raggiunto una rimozione di materiale di più di 7m², durante il taglio di materiale Super Duplex. Ulteriori prove di usura e miglioramenti sono previsti per migliorare ancora le prestazioni delle lame.

Utilizzando l'X-max si ha un vantaggio enorme per tutte le applicazioni con le leghe difficili o tipi di acciaio molto resistenti. Ciò vale per il taglio di tubi (singolo o strato), nonché per il taglio di billette.

SCHULER AG Schuler awarded major order from Turkey Largest single order in company history – line for production of railway wheels In order to expand its Rail division, the Turkish company Karabük Iron & Steel Industry and Trade Inc. (Kardemir) has placed an order with Schuler worth over € 90 million for a line to produce railway wheels. It represents the largest single order the press manufacturer has received in its 174-year history. “This order confirms our successful strategic diversification into promising market segments like Railway and underlines our high technological expertise,” stated Stefan Klebert, CEO of Schuler AG. With 4,000 employees and an annual turnover of € 660 million, Kardemir is Turkey’s oldest steel manufacturer with an annual capacity of 3 million metric tons. The company is based in Karabürk, a town some two hundred kilometers north of Ankara. Turkey’s most modern integrated steel plant is located here with a wide range of equipment for processing raw materials into steel products. “We aim to make Karabürk the center of Turkey’s railway industry,” stated Kardemir’s CEO, Fadil Demirel, on signing the contract. “With our high-quality steel, we are able to produce top-class forged wheels which meet the needs of a high-speed rail network,” added Demirel. Kardemir already manufactures railway lines and switch points for high-speed railroads – which the Turkish state is expanding strongly at present. According to government sources, the whole rail network will be doubled to 25,000 kilometers by 2023. Thanks to an economic boom, Turkey is a highly promising future market for Schuler – in addition to China. “The Turkish economy is on a fast track to success. We aim to expand our presence here as our innovative products fit perfectly with current needs,” explained Martin Habert, Managing Director of subsidiary Schuler SMG GmbH & Co. KG, which will be handling the order. The Turkish order is the second the company has received for its newly developed wheel rolling machine, which produces railway wheels from pre-forged blanks. As a systems supplier for the new manufacturing center, Schuler will also be supplying a heat treatment line and equipment for machining the railway wheels. Moreover, the complete package includes testing technology for the finished wheels. The production line will be able to produce around 200,000 wheels per year with an average blank weight of approximately 500 kilograms. The order is also the first joint project of Schuler with a company belonging to the ANDRITZ Group since ANDRITZ acquired its majority stake in Schuler. As a partner of the project, ANDRITZ Maerz will supply heat treatment technology for the railway wheels.

KG New U-Press characterized by energy efficiency At EMO 2013 in Hannover, Siempelkamp will present presses for the complete manufacturing process of large-diameter pipes via C-, U- and Oforming. As a single-source systems provider, Siempelkamp not only offers the machine engineering, but also provides the processing technology for all three applications. Once more a new press for a long standing customer proves that Siempelkamp has set the right course with its C-, U- and Oforming presses. Tenaris Confab ordered a 18-MN U-press for its plant in Pindamonhangaba, Brazil. It went on line in April 2013 together with the Opress that had been ordered shortly before. With a new control system it is characterized by particular energy efficiency. U-cannings for longitudinally seam-welded pipeline pipes with diameters of 12 ¾ to 48“ are manufactured on this press. It is part of a press line comprising of an existing Crimping-press, the new U-forming and the new 500-MN O-forming press, Tenaris already ordered in March 2011. With the new press Tenaris is able to produce thicker-walled pipes of higher steel grades in the future. A particular feature of the Tenaris U-press is its exceptionally high energy efficiency. It is achieved through the new Siempelkamp frequency-controlled drive and control system which is unique for presses of this size. Due to the quick lowering of the moving beam, the press recovers energy from the process which is then fed back into the customer's power supply system. The order also includes an innovative press control and drive system which is installed directly at the press as well as the automated tool change and automatic clamping system for tool segments. Also included in the scope of supply is the C-U-O application software developed by Siempelkamp by means of which the complete forming process can be simulated and the optimum setting parameters can be determined.

Nuova Pressa a U caratterizza dall'efficienza energetica Alla EMO 2013 in Hannover, Siempelkamp presenterà presse per il processo completo di produzione di tubi di grande diametro con forme a C-, U-e O. In qualità di fornitore di sistemi single-source, Siempelkamp offre non solo la costruzione di macchine, ma fornisce anche la tecnologia di elaborazione per tutte e tre le applicazioni.

Ancora una volta una nuova pressa per un cliente di lungo corso prova che Siempelkamp ha fissato il corso giusto con le sue presse a C-, U e O. Tenaris Confab ha ordinato una pressa a U 18-MN per il suo stabilimento di Pindamonhangaba in Brasile. E' andato in aprile 2013 insieme con la pressa O che era stato ordinata poco prima. Il sistema è caratterizzato con un nuovo sistema di controllo dalla particolare efficienza energetica. U-Cannings per le saldature longitudinali dei tubi delle pipeline con un diametro di 12 ¾ a 48"sono realizzate su questa pressa. Fa parte di una linea di stampa che comprende una piegatura-stampa esistente, il nuovo sistema di formazione a U e la nuova pressa 500-MN di formatura a O, che Tenaris aveva già ordinato nel marzo 2011. Con la nuova pressa Tenaris è in grado di produrre tubi più spessi sulla parete con qualità di acciaio più elevate in futuro. Una caratteristica particolare della pressa Tenaris è l‘eccezionalmente elevata efficienza energetica. Si è ottenuta attraverso il nuovo azionamento a controllo Siempelkamp che è unico per presse di queste dimensioni. Grazie al rapido abbassamento della trave mobile, la pressa recupera energia da questo processo l‘energia viene poi reimmessa nel sistema di alimentazione del cliente. L'ordine include anche un controllo innovativo della pressa e un sistema di azionamento che viene installato direttamente sulla stessa e il cambio utensile automatico e il sistema di bloccaggio automatico per gli utensili. Inoltre incluso nel volume di fornitura c‘è il software applicativo sviluppato da CUO Siempelkamp per mezzo del quale il processo di formatura completa può essere simulato e i parametri di impostazione possono essere determinati prima della lavorazione.

SMS MEER GmbH South Steel in Jizan, Saudi Arabia, has commissioned a minimill from SMS Meer and SMS Concast. The steelworks produces up to 1 million t of billets per year, the rolling mill up to 500,000 t of rebar. The plant satisfies high demands on efficiency, flexibility and productivity.

Continuous caster produces 1 million t of billets The electric arc furnace from SMS Concast is equipped with eccentric bottom tapping (EBT) and a full platform and is designed for 24 charges per day. The ladle furnace is used for the secondary metallurgy. 80 percent HBI (hotbriquetted iron) and 20 percent scrap are used as raw material, but the furnace can also process up to 100 percent HBI. The electrode control and process automation of the steelworks meet very high demands, allowing a homogeneous process with considerable flexibility and high productivity. The continuous caster has five strands and can produce 1 million t of billets in the formats 130 mm square and 150 mm square. Half of the cast billets are sold

on the regional market, the other half is further processed while still hot in the rebar mill.

Highly productive for small dimensions The rolling mill from SMS Meer is equipped with a walking-beam furnace with several control zones: The ratio of fuel to air is monitored separately in each zone, enabling the fuel consumption to be significantly reduced. The furnace can be operated flexibly, irrespective of the production volume. The fully automated rolling mill consists of 16 housingless stands followed downline by a finishing block with six stands. The compact design of the HL (HousingLess) roll stands and the employment of a finishing block ensure compliance with close tolerances. Thanks to the HSD® (High-Speed Delivery) system, final rolling speeds onto the cooling bed of up to 41 m/s are possible. The plant can therefore reach a high production rate per hour even for small dimensions. “We are very pleased about the successful cooperation with our customer,” says Stefan Rutishauser from SMS Concast. “Thanks to the high capacity of the components, the performance and productivity of the minimill is impressive, exactly as South Steel had expected it to be.” The South Steel minimill is regarded as a major milestone in setting up a steel cluster. "Jizan Economic City" is one of six newly constructed cities with which the Kingdom aims to make the Saudi economy less dependent on the export of crude oil by 2030.

L'elettrodo di controllo e di processo delle acciaierie soddisfa esigenze molto elevate, consentendo un processo omogeneo con notevole flessibilità ed elevata produttività. La colata continua ha cinque fili e in grado di produrre 1 milione di tonnellate di billette nei formati quadrato da 130 mm e quadrato da 150 mm. La metà delle billette vengono vendute sul mercato regionale, l'altra metà viene ulteriormente lavorata ancora caldo nel laminatoio per tondo per cemento armato.

Altamente produttivo per piccole dimensioni Il laminatoio SMS Meer è dotato di un forno mobile con diverse zone di controllo: Il rapporto tra carburante e aria viene monitorato separatamente in ogni zona, consentendo così di ridurre significativamente il consumo di carburante. Il forno può essere azionato in modo flessibile, indipendentemente dal volume di produzione.

Il laminatoio completamente automatico è composto da 16 stand housingless seguiti a valle da un blocco di finitura con sei altri scomparti. Il design compatto del (HousingLess) rotolo HL stand e l'impiego di un blocco di finitura garantisce il rispetto di tolleranze ristrette. Grazie al sistema HSD ® (High Speed Delivery), la velocità finale di laminazione sul letto di raffreddamento arriva fino a 41 m/s. L’impianto può quindi raggiungere un alto tasso elevato di produzione all'ora anche per piccole dimensioni. "Siamo molto lieti della collaborazione di successo con i nostri clienti", afferma Stefan Rutishauser di SMS Concast. "Grazie alla elevata capacità dei componenti, le prestazioni e la produttività il laminatoio è impressionante, esattamente come La South Steel si aspettava che fosse." Ecco i dettagli: uno scanner a luce blu che può eseguire la scansione di materiali riflettenti, anche in vetro. Ma nonostante questa tecnologia innovativa non possiamo fare a meno del più piccolo braccio di misura "Microscribe". Questo è un dispositivo efficiente nel business del tubo ed è sufficiente a misurare anche i tubi di razzi.

WAFIOS CNC Tube Bending Machine RBV 60 R Celebrates its Premiere in front of an International Audience of Specialists at the EMO 2013 The WAFIOS tube bending machine series RBV has a new member: The RBV 60 R is the official successor of the successful B 10 and will be presented to an interested audience of specialists for the first time.

The fully electric tube bending machine offers even more degrees of freedom for a very diverse range of parts. It is extremely convenient to use and maintenance-friendly and produces at the same high output rate as usual.

Our exhibition program in Hannover also includes the B5 – the latest WAFIOS CNC wire bending development.

The single-head bending machine for the production of two- and three-dimensional wire parts has been designed for a wire diameter range between 4 and 10 mm. It is the second machine of this series, following the B3.

This series features proven and tested components and significantly decreases unit costs due to its reduced and optimized machine concept.

La curvatubi completamente elettrica offre ancora più gradi di libertà per una gamma molto varia di soluzioni. È estremamente comoda da usare e di facile manutenzione e produce con la consueta affidabilità. Il nostro programma espositivo ad Hannover comprende anche la B5 - l'ultima WAFIOS CNC per il filo. La macchina piegatrice monotesta per la produzione di parti in due e tre dimensioni è stata progettata per una gamma di filo tra i 4 e i 10 mm di diametro. È la seconda macchina di questa serie, seguendo la B3.

Portable pipe bevelling machines We were the first inventors and manufacturers in 1982.

We have all the range of machines from 3/8" to 35" with adaptations of the same for flattening flanges and sealing surfaces in general. (e.g. valves).

In addition to bevelling, the machine operates as a portable lathe that can carry out facing, milling, counter-boring, external and internal turning, boring and removing welds. (Thicknesses ranging from a few mm up to 150mm).

We are able to guarantee the maintenance and support of all products (both current products and obsolete models) having all the necessary spare parts for both the mechanical parts and for the pneumatic motor park.

We are also able to provide cover for a good part of the special applications which were performed under the previous management.

Finally we should note that various technical improvements have been made and new solutions found, that have improved the productivity of the machine as well as containing the
