SEWING A PATCH POCKET

1. Assemble all pieces needed for this procedure.

5. Bag out the edges by sewing a 1cm seam.

2. Mark the wrong side of the fabric with chalk.

6. Turn through and press.

3. Fold over the top edge of the pocket 1cm and press.

7. With right side up, top stitch the pocket facing into position. Do not backtack.

4. Fold back the pocket facing at the notches so the right sides are together.

8. Tie off the ends of the threads. 9. Press the pocket seam allowance over a template. 10. Fold to create the curve of the pocket. 11. Pin the pocket to the shirt front, matching balance marks.

12. Top stitch into position. Backtack at the start and end to secure the threads. 13. Lightly press. 14. Finished patch pocket.
