INNOVATIVE LEAP IN VISA PROCESSING THE KSA VISA PLATFORM In a significant move to enhance digital transformation and streamline the visa application process, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has introduced the 'KSA Visa' platform, a unified national visa system. This initiative, part of the Kingdom's efforts to realize Vision 2030, is a testament to Saudi Arabia's commitment to modernizing its services and making the country more accessible to visitors from around the world.
STREAMLINING ENTRY INTO THE KINGDOM The KSA Visa platform is an electronic service that amalgamates over 30 governmental and private entities, offering an array of visa services. This includes visas for religious purposes such as Hajj and Umrah, tourism, and business endeavors. The platform stands out for its user-friendly interface, guiding applicants through a seamless and comprehensive visa application process. The beauty of the KSA Visa platform lies in its simplicity and efficiency. It offers a straightforward process for selecting the appropriate visa category based on the individual's travel purpose, whether it be for tourism, family visits, medical reasons, or business. The platform's efficient design significantly reduces the time required for visa issuance, with e-visas being processed
4
in as little as 60 seconds in some cases. One of the standout features of the KSA Visa platform is its inclusivity in terms of the range of visas it caters to. Whether applicants seek to explore Saudi Arabia's rich culture and heritage, embark on a spiritual journey, or pursue business opportunities, the platform provides tailored application processes for each visa category. This not only simplifies the process but also ensures that each applicant's unique needs are adequately met. In terms of eligibility, the platform has collaborated with 65 countries to facilitate the visa digitization process. This international cooperation underscores Saudi Arabia's vision of a more connected
and accessible world. The specific eligibility criteria and documentation required vary depending on the type of visa and the applicant's nationality. The launch of the KSA Visa platform is a pivotal moment in Saudi Arabia's journey towards a digital future. It aligns with the country's Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the economy and attract foreign investment. By simplifying the visa application process, the platform is expected to boost tourism, create new job opportunities, and contribute to the Kingdom's economic growth. VISA PLATFORMS
In addition to the KSA VISA platform Saudi Arabia has introduced two specialized visa platforms, VisitSaudi and Nusuk, each serving distinct purposes and complementing the broader KSA Visa platform. These platforms reflect the Kingdom's commitment to streamlining the visa process for various types of visitors.
VISITSAUDI - THE TOURISM GATEWAY The VisitSaudi platform is specifically designed to facilitate tourist visas for international visitors. This platform is integral to Saudi Arabia's initiative to open its doors to global tourism, showcasing the country's rich heritage, vibrant culture, and diverse landscapes. User-Friendly Process: The VisitSaudi portal offers a straightforward, three-step process for obtaining an eVisa: filling out the application, paying the visa fee, and receiving the online visa. Eligibility and Scope: Catering to tourists from 63 eligible countries, the eVisa is a one-year, multiple-entry visa allowing visitors to spend up to 90 days in the country. It covers tourism-related activities such as family visits, leisure, and Umrah (excluding Hajj). Enhancing Tourism: By simplifying the visa process, VisitSaudi aims to attract international tourists, promoting Saudi Arabia's tourism sector in line with Vision 2030.
NUSUK - THE SPIRITUAL JOURNEY FACILITATOR Nusuk is another specialized platform, catering to religious tourism, particularly for pilgrimages like Hajj and Umrah. This platform would be significant in streamlining the process for millions of Muslims undertaking these spiritual journeys annually. Tailored Services: Nusuk likely provides tailored services and information specific to religious tourism, enhancing the experience for pilgrims. Cultural Integration: It is expected to integrate cultural and religious aspects, offering visitors a comprehensive guide for their spiritual journey in Saudi Arabia.

COMMITMENT TO MARINE WILDLIFE CONSERVATION Saudi Arabia, recognizing the crucial role of marine ecosystems in global biodiversity, has taken significant steps to protect its marine wildlife as part of its broader environmental sustainability initiatives. Central to these efforts is the commitment under the Saudi Green Initiative (SGI) to protect 30% of its terrestrial and marine areas by 2030, a goal that aligns with global conservation targets.
Coral Reef Conservation One of the key elements of Saudi Arabia's marine conservation strategy is the protection of coral reef ecosystems. The seas around the Arabian Peninsula, particularly near areas like the Farasan Islands, are home to some of the world's most intact and resilient coral reefs. These ecosystems offer vital insights into coral reef conservation, especially in the context of climate change. Saudi Arabia's commitment to preserving these marine habitats is critical for maintaining biodiversity and understanding the impacts of environmental changes on marine life.
Marine Species Protection In addition to coral reef conservation, Saudi Arabia focuses on protecting various marine species. The Ba’a Foundation is actively working to protect Red Sea turtles from extinction, aiming to increase turtle nesting rates and improve hatchling survival rates. This initiative is part of a comprehensive approach to safeguard marine biodiversity and contribute to global efforts in protecting endangered species.
Global Ocean Alliance Saudi Arabia's involvement in the Global Ocean Alliance further highlights its commitment to marine conservation on an international level. Participation in this alliance underscores the Kingdom's acknowledgment of the importance of collaborative efforts in preserving the world’s oceans and the diverse life they support.
Collaborations and International Partnerships Collaborative efforts with leading global organizations, such as the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), are integral to Saudi Arabia's strategy. These partnerships facilitate knowledge exchange and the implementation of best practices in marine conservation, enhancing the effectiveness of the Kingdom's sustainability efforts.

THE LEGEND OF AJWA DATES
Ajwa dates, grown exclusively in the Al-Madinah region of Saudi Arabia, are deeply revered in Islamic tradition. These small, dark, and soft dates are not only cherished for their delightful taste but also for their spiritual and health significance. In Islamic tradition, Ajwa dates hold a special place. They are mentioned in several Hadiths for their protective and healing properties. One of the most significant Hadiths, as narrated by Sa‘d ibn Abi Waqqaas, states that consuming seven Ajwa dates in the morning protects one from harm caused by poison and witchcraft for the day. This Hadith is found in both Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. The specific mention of Ajwa dates from Al-‘Aliya, a region in Madinah, emphasizes their unique status.
like ibuprofen and aspirin. Research conducted by King Saud University in Riyadh highlighted these properties, showing Ajwa dates' potential in disease prevention, including cancer. Ajwa dates are also beneficial during childbirth, aiding in the smooth expansion of uterine muscles and reducing pain. They contribute to increased milk production in mothers and help prevent blood loss post-childbirth. Their high calcium and phosphorus content is essential for bone health, making them a good dietary addition for people concerned about bone diseases like osteoporosis.
Apart from their religious significance, Ajwa dates are known for their numerous health benefits. These dates are a natural source of various nutrients and have been found to have anti-inflammatory properties similar to commercial drugs

Al Sadu Weaving
The Timeless Art of the Arabian Peninsula Al Sadu weaving, a traditional form of Bedouin embroidery, is a captivating art that has been intricately woven into the cultural fabric of the Arabian Peninsula, particularly in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. This ancient craft, recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage, is characterized by its geometric patterns and vibrant colors, masterfully created on traditional looms.
10
Historical Significance Historically, Al Sadu met the essential needs of nomadic life in the harsh desert environment. Bedouin women, using resources like sheep's wool, goat's, and camel's hair, created robust textiles vital for survival. The weaving, done on rudimentary floor looms, yielded tight, durable fabrics with geometric patterns that mirrored the Bedouins' surroundings and lifestyle.
The Craft and its Techniques The process begins with shearing wool and collecting hair, followed by thorough cleaning and dyeing with bright colors derived from local plants and spices like henna, turmeric, saffron, aloe, and indigo. The looms used are traditionally made from palm or jujube wood, contributing to the authenticity of the craft. The motifs in Al Sadu weaving vary by region, date, tribe, and weaver, allowing them to serve as historical and cultural markers.
Al Sadu Today Despite the influence of urban development and modernization, Al Sadu weaving remains a significant part of Arabian culture. Today, it is preserved and promoted by institutions like the Al Sadu Society of Kuwait and Bayt Al Sadu in Kuwait City, which house galleries, museums, shops, and workshops dedicated to this art. The craft has been adapted to new materials and colors, reinterpreted in fine art, and preserved for decoration and personal expression rather than just practical use.

ECHOES OF THE THAMUD The Enigmatic Curse of Madain Saleh
The Sacred History of Madain Saleh Madain Saleh, also known as Al-Hijr, stands as a significant site in Islamic tradition due to its connection with the ancient Thamud tribe and the Prophet Salih. Its historical roots delve into narratives of idol worship and societal oppression prevalent among the Thamud people.
Prophet Salih's Call and the Thamud's Defiance Prophet Salih, a name deeply intertwined with Madain Saleh, implored the Thamudis to embrace repentance. The narrative deepens with the tale of a sacred camel, sent by Allah as a divine sign, yet tragically slain by the non-believers. This act of defiance against the sacred camel and rejection of Salih's message culminated in the catastrophic demise of the Thamudis, with an earthquake and lightning strikes leaving behind only lifeless bodies. The current ruins of Madain Saleh, marked by their grand tombs and Nabatean architecture, echo this ancient tale.
Respecting the Sacred: Beliefs and Customs at the Site The religious narrative surrounding Madain Saleh has fostered beliefs about a curse on the site. Visitors, especially those of Islamic faith, are advised to approach with reverence, acknowledging its sacred history and avoiding any acts of disrespect. More than an archaeological marvel, Madain Saleh serves as a portal to the ancient Arabian Peninsula, embodying the profound narratives that have sculpted the region's cultural and religious heritage.

DECODING ALULA Unraveling the Civilizations and Cultural Lexicon of Ancient Arabia DADAN
The Thamud
Dadan, an ancient city near AlUla in Saudi Arabia, is an archaeological site of significant historical importance. It was the capital of the Lihyan Kingdom, an influential Arabian civilization that predated the Nabatean Kingdom. Dadan is known for its cultural and commercial significance in the ancient world, especially in the context of the incense trade routes. The archaeological site features remnants of Dadanite and Lihyanite civilization, including inscriptions, tombs, and urban infrastructure. The discovery of these ruins provides valuable insights into the early history and development of Arab civilizations. Today, Dadan forms an important part of the cultural landscape around AlUla, offering visitors a glimpse into a forgotten era of Arabian history.
The Thamud, an ancient Arabian tribe, is renowned for its connection to the Al-Hijr region, now known as Madain Saleh. These people, steeped in historical and Quranic references, are recognized for their advanced rockcut architecture visible in their tombs. The Thamud's narrative in Islamic tradition is a cautionary tale of prosperity, moral decline, and divine retribution, exemplified in the story of Prophet Salih and the miraculous she-camel. Their legacy is a stark reminder of the consequences of defying divine guidance, preserved in the archaeological remnants of Madain Saleh.
DADAN
LIHYAN KINGDOM
NABATEANS
The Lihyanites, an ancient Arab kingdom, predated the Nabateans. They were influential in the first millennium BCE, with Dadan (modern-day AlUla) as their capital. The Lihyan civilization is renowned for its contribution to the development of the Dedanite and Dadanite scripts, early precursors to Arabic script. Their control over the incense trade routes made them a significant economic power in the region.
Following the Lihyanites, the Nabateans emerged as a dominant civilization. They are famous for their spectacular rock-cut architecture in Petra (Jordan) and Madain Saleh. The Nabateans were masters of water harvesting and storage, which was critical for thriving in the arid desert environment. Their trade networks extended across the Arabian Peninsula and beyond, facilitating the exchange of goods, culture, and ideas.
