The Technology Behind

Circle Bracelet

You live in an era where YOU can’t

move away or stay one second without your smartphone. And at times, it gets uncomfortable to carry it around. But have you ever wondered if you could use it at any time and even while taking the most relaxing bath in your tub? Here is a new technology that has been introduced called the circle bracelet. Let’s see what it is and how it works.

What is it? It actually looks like a bracelet that you wear on your wrist, and once you shake it, your phone scene will be visible on your arm. It seems as if your phone is attached to your skin which it definitely is. It comes in various ten colors just as your taste.

How it works? There is a Pico projector that displays the phone interface on your skin along with the 8 long proximity sensor that helps your finger move the interface. This little bracelet contains a processor, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB port , memory card and more. It has a memory capacity of 16 GB to 32 GB.

Green Bus?

Recently, in the United Kingdom, a bus was made of recycled items and waste material. The idea of the bus is to be environmentally friendly and at the same time make use of waste and recycled items once again. As Britain is one of the countries known for taking care of the environment, being green and making green inventions is not a surprise.

Green Road ? Have you ever heard of an environmentally friendly road? Probably not. A road in a park was covered from materials that can absorb sunlight during the daylight and then illuminate at night without the need of lamb lights.

The desert has its own beauty, and

that beauty lies in the silence and emptiness of the desert. Saudi Arabia has many Mounty places where people can go hiking. Usfan, a place that is nearly 70 km far from Jeddah town, has the coolest hiking area.

A lot of foreigners and some locals seem to be going to such trips. When asked some of the hikers how they found the trip, most of the replies were positive. One Tunisian man said, “it’s a place to vent.” Another couple of French ladies said that it was a very good trip according to them.

Though wearying and exhausting, the hiking experience was worth the try.

The Power of Will

A

Saudi scholarship student living

in Vancouver, Canada tells her story of how she was able to lose a great amount of weight and change her eating habits. From a very opposite teenager back in her home country to a totally different, responsible and independent adult. Not only that she took care of her health, but she is also very talented when it comes to singing.

Issue 12—Winter Wonderland

The girl was asked of what made her change drastically and look after her body. Raneem Roushdi begins her story, “ There are so many reasons why I have changed dramatically. The most important reason is living alone and being responsible for my own, in terms of my health or my education. When I first came to Vancouver, Canada, I was very dependent on my cousins and family, but with their support, I became just as independent as they are. After a year and a half to be exact, everyone that I knew left to different cities and some even went to another country. This is when I started becoming more and more responsible everyday, and what I saw first was my body! I was very shocked that someone my age only 20 years old could actually be this big in size; I’m only 159cm “tall” so very short! And to be 92kgs at the time, it was too much!” R continues, “The second reason is that Vancouver or Canada in general has an amazing culture, very accepting of whom you are, what are your opinions and how you look like etc. The list can go on and it can never end. This really motivated me because whatever I do in Vancouver, it would be appreciated.” R adds “I also used to be a really heavy smoker for five years, and thank god I got the will to stop smoking and after doing that I got way more energy. It was very hard after quitting because I had severe withdrawal symptoms, but I got through them by many help from friends and family. On the other side, when I was in Saudi, I had tried so many ways to lose weight, but my problem was that I was never consistent, I was always trying and not seeing a change then stopping and going back to the old routine, which is not exercising nor eating healthy. For my style, I did not change it, I just felt more confident that I could wear a smaller size. I love wearing loose clothes because I feel more comfortable in it than wearing very tight, but in Saudi they call it tomboy and I just call it a style. When asked if she felt happier than she used to be and her response was, “ I feel so much happier now because I feel more confident and comfortable, I love that I can go shopping, find my size easily, and not go through the hassle and feeling bad that I can’t find anything that

Inspirational Story for YOU

could actually fit me nicely.

“Even a salad at a restaurant

She was also asked of what steps that she undertaking to maintain her health, “I am maintaining my health by following few steps,” R replies, “First, eating healthy, this is because having a healthy diet has an 80% affect in maintaining the change you’re doing to your body. For example, I never skip breakfast; I have a one egg white sandwich because it’s very high in protein and low in fat. I also can have oatmeal or a grilled cheese sandwich as long as I know how many calories I’m getting into my body. To be specific, around 300 calories for breakfast is perfect. Secondly, I go to the gym every other day. This affects the body by 20%; I workout around an hour to an hour and a half every other day. For example, I walk on the treadmill for 35 minutes and then I do weights for the time I have left.

is full of calories like you can’t imagine

’’

How Raneem used to be

“Having

patience is very important because not everyone can see the change in a month.

’’

Finally, she was asked what advice she would give to girls her age struggling with weight. Raneem responses, “ Whoever is reading this you should know that there is nothing called I can’t or it’s impossible; everything is possible by having the will and determination! Having a healthy diet and going to the gym is your way to go. You shouldn’t eat fast food nor you should go to a restaurant and order “grilled chicken breast”, even a salad at a restaurant is full of calories like you can’t imagine! You can do that once or twice a week. If you really want to change, you can! You should just work for it. It will take you time, but it’s worth it! I honestly hated going to the gym at first, but you just keep pushing until you get used to it, and the time will come were you will feel uncomfortable not going to the gym. Having patience is very important because not everyone can see the change in a month.

How she transformed!

Poll for YOU

Are you addicted to

Social Media ?

YOU! Newsletter did a little poll asked 60 people, fans on Facebook page, Instagram and other non fans this question: Are addicted to Social Media? Males and females of different ages were asked. The graph displays the percentages of their replies.

60.00% 50.00% 40.00% 30.00%

56.67%

46.67%

20.00% 10.00%

0.00%

It is apparent that percentages of people who think they are addicted compared to people not addicted are more but relatively close and the only difference is 10% That does not mean that people are not using social media but some are just not that addicted or may be addicted but they think they are not. They may spend one hour or more checking social media but addiction is when someone cannot perform any other daily tasks because of social media. Addiction is when you actually spend few hours or so on any social media sites. A lot of health professionals say you shouldn’t even look at your phone for more that one hour. But social media is inevitable and it is becoming part of our lives.

a: Addicted

b: Not Addicted

One mentioned that if they don’t check social media, they would feel disconnected from the world. Other mentioned that she checks her phone right after she’s awake. And other said she checks after and before having a meal. Some may also have confession issues as one was observed checking her phone but said otherwise. Peer pressure is also a strong factor for addiction. When one group of people together were asked, they almost had the same response. Kids and preschoolers were noticed more addicted that adults since they even watch You Tube videos nonstop on their iPads. Some adults would actually use it for business purposes since one mentioned that they will start using social network because of a business need.
