Welcome Letter Friends and Supporters, Thank you so very much for being a part of the 41st USHCC National Conference and our first-ever virtual conference. We wish we could gather in person as we all value this time every year when we get to spend time together along with Hispanic business owners, corporate partners, government officials, and more than 260 local Hispanic Chambers of Commerce. As we launch this virtual conference, I hope that you will share in our Board’s Vision for 2020-2021.

VIRTUAL

Carmen Castillo

Chairwoman, USHCC Board of Directors President & CEO, SDI International Corp

It is a focused vision of partnership…and of progress. It is a vision of opportunity. The National Conference offers each of us the chance to connect and to pool our combined strength for the benefit of the more than 4.7 million Hispanic-owned businesses in the United States. Beyond being diverse, we are a dynamic, intelligent, and motivated community. Together, we have the power—and the opportunity—to make the path to success less challenging for Hispanic startups than it was for us. And that, too, is part of the vision: partnership, progress, and commitment that will lead to greater opportunities for all of the Hispanic entrepreneurs that will follow in our footsteps. For this 41st Conference, we have formulated our programming to reflect this vision. Our goals are to provide all attendees an enriching and empowering experience at this, the largest gathering of Hispanic business leaders in the country. We will recognize Hispanic groundbreakers and innovators. We will highlight and raise awareness around key issues…and workshop strategies for addressing them. Beyond the National Conference, the USHCC actively promotes the economic growth, development, and interests of our nation’s Hispanic-owned businesses. Combined, they contribute over $800 billion to the American economy every year, and we hope for that number—with our combined commitment—will continue to grow. We are 60 million Latinos in America. Without your efforts, we would not have the incredible opportunities we have in the coming days. Partnership. Progress. Opportunity. Commitment. Together, let’s share in our vision of change and growth—not just today or tomorrow, but forever into our bright future. There is no economic recovery in America without Latinos. Welcome to the 2020 National Conference – Building America’s Business Future! It starts now!

Carmen Castillo Chairwoman, Board of Directors United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

Welcome Letter Dear Friends and Supporters of the USHCC, First, I would like to thank each of you, especially our Hispanic Chambers, our corporate members, our business leaders, our strategic partners, and our small business community for your great support. Thank you for joining us at our 41st Annual USHCC National Conference and our first virtual conference! During this global pandemic, this has been a time of resiliency and perseverance for all Hispanic Business Enterprises who are innovating and changing their business models and rising to the challenge of this economic crisis. This year, we present to you our theme “Building America’s Business Future: Securing Wealth and Health for All Latinos.”

President & CEO United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

This year, we expanded our “Avanzar” Program, our small business accelerator program in partnership with Wells Fargo, to seven states and we have more than 170 small, scalable HBEs currently going through the program to learn how to take their businesses to the next level. We collaborated with other national diverse chambers on the Chamber Leadership Alliance to bring free professional development educational training seminars for our Chamber CEOs and their staff members.

WELCOME LETTERS

Ramiro A. Cavazos

This year has been one of resetting and rebuilding. We are glad to introduce you to our latest USHCC programming and resources for our Hispanic Business Enterprise (HBE) Members. We are proud to continue to add value to our USHCC Chamber Members, and new partnerships with America’s largest corporations to the benefit of our Hispanic business community.

We also awarded thousands of grant dollars to small business owners and to chambers of commerce to provide bilingual technical assistance to expand relief efforts during COVID-19 through generous partners such as Cargill, Rumba Meats, and many others. We are working together with our corporate partners to create programming that supports Hispanic small businesses while addressing each partner’s specific advocacy priorities through programs with vision and measurable success. Finally, we had our strongest advocacy year in Washington, D.C, where we made sure that the voice of our Hispanic business leaders was heard loud and clear with our members of Congress and the Administration, especially for economic relief, stimulus funding, and access to new capital. This success would not be possible without the support of our partners, sponsors, and HBEs. Thank you to our wonderful USHCC Board of Directors and Staff that work every day towards making a better and stronger USHCC. Above all, we must always remember that the USHCC is not about any one individual, it is about our whole community of 60 million Latinos coming together: creating wealth and health for our Hispanic businesses and Building America’s Business Future.

Respectfully,

Taking action on our commitment We know we must do more to address the very real consequences of systemic racism that exist in society today. The impact is clear for communities across the country, including where our teammates live and serve our clients. To drive progress, Bank of America has committed to invest $1 billion over four years to advance racial equality and economic opportunity, building on work we’ve had underway for many years. We’re partnering with community and corporate leaders to create sustainable change. Our actions will help address critical issues and long-term gaps that have only been widened by the coronavirus and amplified by the most recent acts of injustice. Our efforts include: • connecting workers to new skills and enhanced job readiness • increasing medical response capacity and access to health care and nutritious food • powering small businesses owned by people of color through access to capital • helping people find a place to call home

We know there’s a lot of work to be done, but we promise to keep listening as we work together on this shared mission.

Welcome Letter Dear USHCC Members and Friends, Welcome to the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) virtual national conference. We are proud to partner with the USHCC and to support the national conference. American’s long-standing partnership with the USHCC continues to thrive because we share the common purpose of developing vibrant communities by connecting people and economies. Our support for diverse organizations and our initiatives in the diversity and inclusion space are important to us as a company. The contribution of cash and in-kind support including AAdvantage miles and volunteer hours are just a few of the ways we’ve supported the USHCC.

Managing Director Global Talent and Inclusion & Diversity American Airlines

Even during these uncertain times for the economy and our business, we have a responsibility to address systemic racism. We understand actions matter over words. At the core of air travel lies the mission to connect people. We can only do that when we embrace the diversity the world has to offer. We seek to embed diversity, equity and inclusion into everything we do, and we have never had a greater responsibility to do so than today.

Welcome Letter Welcome to Our Virtual 2020 National Conference! This year has tested our small business community in ways we never imagined. Because of the pandemic, millions have closed up shop, experienced losses, and are being forced to make tough decisions about reopening or reconsidering their business model to adapt to the times. Because Hispanic small business ownership outpaces any other group, we are feeling these impacts at a higher rate. More so, since many of our businesses are in sectors that have been hardest hit like restaurants, hospitality, retail and construction, for example.

VIRTUAL

Alice Rodriguez

Chair-Elect, USHCC Board Consumer Bank Senior Advisor Managing Director JPMorgan Chase & Co.

Before the pandemic, we were already facing barriers to sustained success—access to capital, technical assistance, and other resources are not as prevalent and easily accessible for minority entrepreneurs. Yet, according to a Stanford study, our businesses contributed $500 billion to the economy just last year and employed more than 3 million people. I have seen adversity firsthand. My mother came to this country looking for opportunity like so many of us. She and many in her family were seasonal workers, growers, challenged by unsteady income, yet committed to building a strong foundation for their families. In my years in banking, I have spoken to many of you and know that what motivates us to succeed are the same principles that brought my mom here: make it better for our families and build wealth. I know the grit and perseverance that Hispanic small business owners continue to demonstrate will lead us to recovery, innovation and growth. As incoming chair, I am bringing all of your stories with me so the USHCC can pave the way to recovery. I know we will survive, but I also want us to thrive and have even more participation in the economy as it rebounds.

The last few months also have accelerated the importance of having more digital tools that can help us with business recovery and keep operations going. Together, the USHCC leadership team will do more to serve you this way, including delivering services and education virtually. My mission is to create pathways so that more business can breakthrough $1 million in sales, hire more people, acquire, grow and sustain. When we look ahead, I want to see more of us on Main Street. To help Hispanic-owned businesses of every size to reach their full potential., we also need the commitment of corporations and banks like mine. Providing a forum for networking, education on new trends, technologies and competencies, and expanded access to capital are part of JPMorgan Chase’s efforts to help business owners to expand, hire more people, grow sales, and continue to shape our economy. As our country rolled out help, my bank provided more in Paycheck Protection Program loan relief than any other lender, and we will continue to support small business owners in need. We learned a lot from the process and identified opportunities to make sure we help even more businesses, of all backgrounds. In March and April, we also approved more than $45 billion in new credit for our clients impacted by COVID-19. This included more than $6 billion to hospitals and healthcare companies, educational institutions, nonprofits and state and local governments.

The road ahead will have some challenges, but our community has the resilience we need to build back up. Thank you to the USHCC for the years of continued collaboration. Here is to a successful national convention, and thank you, Ramiro Cavazos and team, for your dedication and drive to bolster one of the most important growth engines of our country: our strong and growing Hispanic small business community.

Saludos, Alice Rodriguez Chair-Elect, USHCC Board Consumer Bank Senior Advisor Managing Director JPMorgan Chase & Co.

Welcome Letter Dear USHCC Members, Chamber Leaders, Sponsors, and Participants, On behalf of Comcast NBCUniversal Telemundo’s 200,000 employees, we are honored to support the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce 2020 Annual Convention. This year has been like none other in modern history – our community and country have faced significant challenges: a global health pandemic, economic hardship, fires, and extreme storms. Yet we still unite to mobilize and advocate as our nation’s leading Hispanic business leaders and entrepreneurs.

Executive Director, External Affairs Comcast Corporation

We are engaged in programs with partners while our company is working hard to support our customers, employees, and communities during this unprecedented time. So far, we have committed more than $500 million to support our employees where operations have been closed or impacted, made work from home options as broadly available as possible, and enhanced safety measures for customerfacing employees. Our technology and engineering teams work tirelessly to support our network operations 24/7 to ensure network performance and reliability. Those networks have held up remarkably well, despite an increase of 32% in Internet traffic. We are committed to keeping our customers connected to the Internet during economic hardship because we know accessible and reliable Internet is more critical than ever.

WELCOME LETTERS

Jackie Puente

I am proud of the partnership that Comcast NBCUniversal Telemundo shares with the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. I am honored to serve on this organization’s Board of Directors. We have collaborated on important initiatives during this year, including briefing members on PPP Loans, public affairs support to uplift the stories of Hispanic businesses, and refreshing the public policy blueprint to reflect policy principles to support job creation and growth.

Comcast has also expanded access to Internet Essentials, the nation’s largest, most comprehensive, and successful internet adoption program that has connected more than 10 million Americans to high-speed Internet at home since 2011. Today, eligible new Internet Essentials customers receive 60 days of service free. And we’ve increased the speed of this internet service for all customers. To learn more, please visit www.InternetEssentials.com. And while we spend more time at home, Telemundo, NBC, and Sky news teams work around the clock on news coverage to keep us informed in English and Spanish. While we multi-task between conference calls and video meetings, Comcast has partnered with Common Sense Media to curate thousands of hours of free educational content for children – available in Spanish and English, to help parents are working from home and support learning for kids K-12. I am hopeful that these efforts and our partnership with the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will set the pace for better days ahead. I am looking forward to the dialogue at this year’s virtual Convention, and I am hopeful that we will continue our work together, in person, very soon! Welcome Letter Dear Friends, On behalf of Toyota, welcome to the 2020 U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce National Conference. Although we are not able to meet in person this year, we’re grateful to have technology that allows us to connect virtually from wherever we may be. This has been an extraordinarily challenging year on multiple fronts, and the USHCC’s role has never been more vital. With 200-plus local chambers and more than 4.3 million members, the USHCC’s collective voice representing and advocating for Hispanic businesses as we navigate our economic recovery has taken on special importance.

This year has also served to highlight disparities in healthcare access between the Hispanic community and the community at large. It is incumbent upon all of us to work to eradicate this inequity in any way we can.

WELCOME LETTERS

Carlos Becerra

The USHCC is working hard behind the scenes — testifying on Capitol Hill and writing letters and making phone calls to Washington legislators and policymakers — to ensure that Latino entrepreneurs are considered in recovery initiatives. The USHCC’s efforts help everyone — small, medium, and large Hispanic-owned firms — and that in turn helps the business community at-large.

If there’s a key takeaway from 2020, it’s that we must support one another in times of crisis. No one can win if someone else loses. That’s why it is crucial that each one of you is here, contributing to this virtual conference and to the USHCC. We must ensure that Hispanic entrepreneurship recovers from this devastating year and stands ready to thrive and flourish. The wealth and health of our shared Latino community depends on it. On behalf of Toyota, we wish you a productive conference and look forward to greeting everyone in person in 2021. ¡VAYAMOS JUNTOS! Welcome Letter Dear members and supporters of the USHCC, Welcome to the 41st Annual U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce National Conference. During these unprecedented times, it’s never been more important for advocates, executives, business owners, and others to come together—virtually—to develop and implement solutions that will advance the 4.7 million Hispanic-owned businesses in the U.S. Hispanic-owned businesses contribute more than $700 billion to the American economy each year and they are core to the fabric of our neighborhoods and communities. The impact of the pandemic has been severe, and Hispanics have been disproportionately impacted by the crisis. Wells Fargo is committed to helping Hispanic-owned small businesses stay open and get back to growth by providing substantial credit and liquidity, waiving fees, deferring payments, as well as providing support through the Paycheck Protection Program.

CEO Wells Fargo & Company

Through our recently created Open for Business Fund, Wells Fargo is donating approximately $400 million in gross processing fees from the Paycheck Protection Program to offer capital, training, and long-term recovery support to small businesses struggling through the pandemic with an emphasis on racially and ethnically diverseowned businesses. At Wells Fargo, we strive to create long-lasting collaborative relationships with our suppliers. In 2019, we spent more than $141 million with certified Hispanic-owned businesses and we remain focused and engaged on growing relationships with Hispanic-owned businesses.

WELCOME LETTERS

Charles W. Scharf

Wells Fargo also remains proudly committed to supporting and increasing Hispanic homeownership, because—as a leading home lender—we’ve seen how homeownership helps families to build wealth and stability. In 2015, we made a 10-year, $125 billion pledge to increase Hispanic homeownership through home purchases, and an additional $10 million pledge for home-buyer education and counseling. To date, Wells Fargo has helped roughly 163,500 Hispanic families become homeowners with $41.3 billion in financing. Our company is proud to contribute to the small business ecosystem. In 2019, the Wells Fargo Foundation and the National Association of Latino Community Asset Builders started the Acceso loan fund, the nation’s largest loan fund for Latino-owned small businesses, with a $10 million grant. We also continue to be one of the top funders of the Stanford Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative, which aims to strengthen the U.S. economy by empowering Latino business leaders to grow substantial firms that create jobs, develop leaders, and create a new generation of companies. We applaud the USHCC’s mission of providing development and growth opportunities for the Hispanic community. We at Wells Fargo look forward to continuing to work together to support the road ahead to meaningful economic recovery.

Sincerely,

NUESTROS NEGOCIOS

Two-thirds of American jobs are created by small businesses, and Hispanic enterprises are leading this critical growth; starting new ventures at a rate three times the national average. The HBE program provides a national platform to Hispanic-owned companies that have scaled and grown beyond the scope of local chambers of commerce. In addition to advocating on behalf of HBEs on Capitol Hill and across the country, the USHCC equips members with resources and knowledge to grow their business by raising awareness on procurement opportunities and introducing them to a broad network of decision makers in both the public and private sectors.

NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises in partnership with the USHCC launched the “Nuestros Negocios” (“Our Businesses”) nationwide campaign under the umbrella of Telemundo’s award-winning platform “El Poder En Ti” (The Power in You). Launched the multiplatform campaign will tap into Telemundo’s network, local stations, digital and social platforms to spotlight small and medium-sized Hispanic-owned businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and promote their services to help them sustain their businesses through these challenging times.

CORPORATE PARTNER MEMBER (CPM)

BUSINESS MATCHMAKING

CPM program provides USHCC Corporate members with access to a vast array of Hispanic Businesses Enterprises (HBEs) from emerging small ventures to established businesses with revenues of over one billion dollars. Our ability to connect USHCC Corporate members to such a broad network of HBEs is facilitated by the network we maintain with our over 200 Hispanic Chambers across the country, numerous business matchmaking events throughout the year, and our nationally-renowned conferences, including the Annual Legislative Summit and the USHCC National Conference -- the largest gathering of Hispanic business owners in America.

The USHCC’s Business Matchmaking provides a unique forum for Hispanic Business Enterprises (HBEs) to connect with procurement officers from federal agencies and Fortune 500 companies, representing hundreds
of millions of dollars in business opportunities. Last year 4,000 unique appointments resulted from this event. These meetings provide an opportunity for buyers and sellers to discuss specific projects and capabilities. Small businesses or “sellers” must pre-register for the event using individual NAICS codes or business categories. Each meeting lasts approximately 15 minutes. All meetings are scheduled on a first come, first served basis.

The USHCC has partnered with Wells Fargo to provide substantial funding each year directly to chambers across the country for programs that strengthen and foster the growth of small business communities. Multiple grants ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 are awarded to select local chambers. These funds support a variety of programs that empower female entrepreneurs, promote green energy, and advance diversity and inclusion.

USHCC Educational Fund Programs AVANZAR PROGRAM Avanzar (‘Advance’ in Spanish) is an eight-month business accelerator program designed for Hispanic small businesses that are ready to take their businesses to the next level. The USHCC launched this program in 2019 thanks to an investment from Wells Fargo & Company. Each Latina and Latino entrepreneur participates in courses that are aimed to help develop business plans, strategy, and the leadership skills needed to scale their small businesses. Course topics include building financial plans, streamlining operations, lowering expenses, marketing, leveraging social media, human resources, and obtaining access to capital for each business.

CHAMBER LEADERSHIP ALLIANCE AND CHAMBER LEADER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR SMALL & DIVERSE BUSINESS ADVOCATES The USHCC is one of four partners of the Chamber Leadership Alliance along with the the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), the U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. (USBC), and the US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Together, we co-present the Chamber Leadership Development Program which consists of virtual and in-person trainings for trainings for our empowering and strengthening our chambers of commerce and their employees.

GREEN BUILDS BUSINESS Greening Toyota’s Supply Chain Through the USHCC Green Builds Business Program seeks to offer business coaching on proven green best practices to its suppliers. The goal is to enable business suppliers’ ability to identify, design and implement green projects that achieve triple bottom line results of lower costs, enhanced human benefits and reduced environmental impacts.

IN HER FOOTSTEPS Launched in 2018 by USHCC and Bank of America, the “In Her Footsteps” Podcast hosts dynamic Latina business owners who are helping drive the American economy and creating change in their communities. It provides listeners with information and resources to better run their businesses, while also working to highlight the contributions of the Hispanic community and Latina businesswomen. This program is proudly sponsored by Bank of America.
