Overview of ActivateUTS: Formerly known as UTS Union, ActivateUTS is a non-profit organisation established over 40 years ago, dedicated to enhancing the student experience during their time studying at UTS. ActivateUTS supports over 130 affiliated clubs and societies, we also bring together an array of campus facilities including great bars, cafes, retail outlets, a fitness centre, physiotherapy and also student events, clubs and societies.
Overview of ActivateSport: The ActivateSport team also known as UTS Sport works alongside the University in delivering sports programs, events and activities for all UTS Students, staff and the wider UTS community. UTS Sport manages over 30 sports clubs, an elite athlete program, two indoor sports venues, a fitness centre, a full year intervarsity sports program, wellness programs and a range of social sports competitions.
Overview of the position: Reporting to the Director of Sport, this position is responsible for the management and supervision of the UTS Ross Milbourne Sports Hall (RMSH), the UTS Sydney Boys High (SBH) Stadium and oversee the attendants that are employed to work at both facilities during the hours of operation. The position also includes running various sports competitions and programs for students and staff at the RMSH, as well as any other tasks assigned.
Duties & Responsibilities: Ross Milbourne Sports Hall (RMSH): •
Organise all bookings at RMSH
•
Maintain communication and correspondence between all users and the ActivateSport Office
•
Manage contact relationships involving internal/external stakeholders
•
Organise RMSH rosters & management of all RMSH attendants
•
Ensure all customer service expectations are met
•
Develop & maintain comprehensive social sports and wellbeing programs in line with student demand

Organise and manage several sports gala days and sports events throughout the year as required
•
Oversee and maintain the RMSH private elite gym facility used by elite student athletes and high performance sports clubs
•
Monitor & ensure there is appropriate workplace health and safety procedures and they meet standards
•
Assist with general day to day administrative tasks and duties to ensure smooth running of the facility
•
Assist with other duties, within the nature and scope of the position, as required from time to time
Sydney Boys High (SBH) Stadium: •
Organise all bookings at SBH
•
Maintain all communication and correspondence between all users and the ActivateSport Office
•
Manage all contact relationships involving internal/external stakeholders

Organise SBH rosters & management of all SBH attendants
•
Ensure all customer service expectations are met
•
Organise maintenance of the facility which includes organising and scheduling repairs
•
Maintain appropriate records and inspections for the facility.
•
Maintain regular meetings with the school regarding the management of the stadium
•
Monitor & ensure there is appropriate workplace health and safety procedures and they meet standards
•
Assist with general day to day administrative tasks and duties to ensure smooth running of the facility
•
Assist with other duties, within the nature and scope of the position, as required from time to time
Selection criteria: Essential: •
Qualifications in Sports Administration/Management or related field and/or equivalent experience
•
2-3 years’ experience and understanding of sporting facility management
•
Demonstrated experience in managing social sporting competitions & sporting events
•
Current first aid certificate
•
High level of interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written
•
Demonstrate initiative, ability to meet deadlines and work effectively within a team environment with minimum supervision
•
Good understanding of budgeting process
•
Good understanding of the youth market and cultural diversity
•
High level customer service skills
•
Understanding of WH&S procedures.
•
Flexibility to work outside of normal working hours (including weekends) with time in lieu available
•
Current drivers licence

Authority: This position is subject to direction of the Director of Sport, but will be required to make decisions in relation to the Ross Milbourne Sports Hall (RMSH) and the Sydney Boys High (SBH) Stadium on a day to day basis
Direct Reports: Direct reports will include the occasional casual staff member and volunteers. Workplace health and safety You must work within Workplace Health & Safety practices and procedures; work with due care and consideration to safeguard your own health and safety, and the health and safety of others.
Terms & Conditions of Employment: Appointment will be conditional on an initial 6 month probationary period; thereafter termination by either party will require written notice of 4 weeks’.
