Key Club Resolutions It’s that time again to reflect upon the past year and establish goals for the new one. While breaking resolutions can be just as easy as making them, we hope that these small, simple goals towards Key Club service and improving our community can be accomplished.

1.

Volunteer for at least two hours every month! There are so many activities you can participate in at Key Club, from bringing in food donations to making CSH cards and working at K-family events. Most of the opportunities for service are fun and easy, and they’re all for improving our school and community. For January, you can earn up to two hours for bringing in candy for Valentine’s Day.

2.

Attend at least one meeting per month. You earn half an hour for every meeting you attend, and these easy volunteer hours can add up! Meetings are also the best way to stay informed and get involved. Sometimes, there are volunteering opportunities after, like packing candy or making decorations for events.

3.

Do something for the Eliminate Project! The Eliminate Project is a fundraiser committed to preventing and eliminating neonatal tetanus, and it only takes $1.80 to protect a mother and her future children through three tetanus vaccines. $1.80 can buy a large soda, an iTunes song, and a chocolate bar, but it can also buy enough vaccines to immunize one mother and her children. By skipping your morning coffee or afternoon snack, you can do something amazing.

From 1915’s single Kiwanis club in Detroit to today’s multi-faceted Kiwanis organization, the K-family certainly has made a big difference in a century. This year we congratulate Kiwanis International for its centennial year! That’s 100 years of service and hard work to give back to our world’s communities. Comprised of groups like Aktion Club, KCI, and Key Club, Kiwanis International continues to donate more than 18 million hours of service each year and over $100 million in charitable donations. To commemorate, Kiwanis was able to feature its very own floats in the 126 Annual Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. At the event, Kiwanis offered over 7,000 volunteers 56,000 hours of service, which was by far the most volunteers for an organization out of the entire parade!
