Swap Meet Report Barring another COVID mutant popping up, it’s now pretty clear that we’ll be all go with Swap Meet, so we’re beginning our planning based on the assumption that there will be no restrictions on numbers and no requirements to check vaccine passes. The latter alone had the potential to create major hurdles in getting people through the gates without choking up traffic trying to get into Swap Meet. The first meeting of Swap Meet committee will be on Thursday 14th April. The first task will be to set about nominating and confirming the committee. All positions are open as outlined below, and you can nominate any financial member of the branch for any position (or alternatively volunteer your services) with a proposer and seconder. Nominations must be emailed to the Branch Secretary, Rod Thrower, before the meeting in 14th April so positions can be confirmed by that date. If there is more than one nomination for any position an election process will be put in place and advised in the May Hub. One thing I am particularly keen to ensure we have well covered off this year is publicity and public relations for the event. If there is a member out there who has expertise or connections in this field and is interested in helping, please contact me directly. Swap Meet Committee Positions: Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Workforce, Main Displays, Security, Publicity and PR, Sites Coordinator, Camping Coordinator, One-make Club Displays, Parking Coordinator, Food Vendor Coordinator, Facilities Management, Traffic Management. Please send your nominations by email to Branch Secretary, Rod Thrower, email canterbury@vcc.org.nz before the meeting in 14th April. With most Swap Meets in our region having been cancelled for the best part of two years now, we are expecting this year’s one to be fully subscribed and very busy. If you don’t already have a site booked and want one, now is the time to book it – contact Neil Shaskey (see page 45 for contact details). Colin Hey 13
