Editor’s Note We have officially hit the one-year mark! Time flies when you are having fun, it was this time last year that Vegas Cannabis Magazine made its debut at Las Vegas Hempfest. And now, this month, we will take part in the Second Annual Las Vegas Hempfest. It is our hope for the patients, vendors and attendees that this event goes off without a hitch and proves to be an amazing time for all. Be sure to stop by our booth, say hi and pick up some goodies from our advertisers. In the coming months, we will see the opening of more Nevada dispensaries and cultivation facilities. There are also a wealth of cannabis events to look forward to. Locally, be sure to get your tickets for the Patient Choice Awards happening on October 17th. Las Vegas will also play host to the Marijuana Business Conference and Expo at the Rio Hotel, November 11-13.

On October 10th, AAA Indoor Garden celebrates their Grand Re-Opening. And, the Las Vegas Cannabis Info Center will be holding a Danksgiving celebration on November 21st. These events and more can be found in our Events section on page 12.

We have received an overwhelming response to our Medical Marijuana Assistance Program. If you have recently applied and have not heard from us, please be patient. We currently have four medical evaluations to give away each month. We ask that only one application is sent in per person as they are kept on file for future months. Thank you Dr. Green Relief, Ultimate U Medical, and Green Therapeutics for supporting this program. A special thanks goes out to Getting Legal for not only supporting the program but for also donating three additional evaluations last month. Without our support team, this program would not be possible.

Happy Halloween from All of Us at Vegas Cannabis Magazine!

Have a fun and safe month!

Medical Evangelizing Cannabis: Praise the Lord and Pass the Pipe! By Sharon Letts

The past four years I’ve covered four states and thousands of miles in a state of Divine Intervention, with people suffering from real illness put in front of me like little animals to St. Francis of Assisi. I often feel like Theresa Caputo, “The Long Island Medium” (less the hair and nails). Spirits come to her like patients are put in front of me, daily. Either I meet people with real illness, or they know someone suffering under traditional care – there are no coincidences – or, maybe everyone is just getting sicker? When I tell people Rick Simpson Oil, or RSO, put my breast cancer into remission, most don’t believe it. But, when sitting on this kind of knowledge it becomes a responsibility to share. It’s actually the only way to get the word out, for no Department of Health Services will be passing out pamphlets any time soon. Those who know must “be the pamphlet.” Physician Heal Thyself While traveling in Eastern Washington State my lower back went out, leaving me helpless with severe spasms in my sciatica. Anyone who has suffered from the pain of sciatic spasms knows what I’m talking about. The second the swollen muscle or tendon presses a nerve against a bone, the pain is excruciating and can level a grown man in a second. Out of real medicine, a visit to Urgent Care disappointed me as the doctor was a cold fish about my cannabis use for pain, only offering opioids or a steroid injection. Even then she could not promise the spasms would be gone. Cannabis makes them go away, I informed, but she wouldn’t engage. I finally asked if the clinic was federally funded, to this she gave a knowing and firm, “yes.” She couldn’t have talked about this good medicine if she wanted to. The nurse listened attentively, however, and confided in me when the doctor was out of ear shot that she was suffering from spasms in her legs, and how could she

get some of this medicine? She shared this with me as she stood (all day) at a computer taking down patient information. My heart sank to hear her situation, and I shared what I could. She not only “liked” my fan page on Facebook, she read an essay I penned on pain management and sent me a note of thanks. All Aboard the Wellness Train! On a train recently, the conductor asked if anyone on board had nausea medicine. Now, the ramifications of me helping someone with cannabis are great. First, I’m not a doctor; I’m merely an enlightened cannabis patient. Second, well, there are enough reasons why I shouldn’t help, but my mom is looking down on me from Heaven. This is God’s medicine, and she didn’t raise someone who sits on their hands. No matter the consequences, I adjusted my proverbial Florence Nightingale hat, put my faith on the rule of the rail’s “right of way,” and headed down to the car in question with my little bottle of Nternal Oil, a light oil made in the Bay area of California, with very little psychoactive properties due to the low heat process used. There sat one very sickly passenger and all eyes were on me as I announced, “I have medicine that works great for nausea, but it’s made from cannabis.” To this, I get the usual blank stares, and I must use the dreaded word, “Are you familiar with marijuana?”(You know, I really wanted to say “The Marijuana.”) To this, her eyes light up, knowingly, and I ask if she has a teaspoon. The looks on the faces surrounding this woman are priceless as she takes the dose. She thanks me and I wish her well, making my way back to my seat. Checking on her two hours later, she is found chatting it up with the woman next to her, a drink in one hand and food in the other. “How are you feeling?” I inquire, already knowing the answer. To which she replies with eyebrows raised, “I’m feeling better,” as if surprised at the outcome. No Coincidences Stories are all around me. Sitting in the waiting room at a local lab in Humboldt County, California where I live, a woman next to me explains how her 45-year-old daughter is getting an MRI done for a brain

Vegas Cannabis Magazine • October 2015 • 14

tumor. The woman was confined to a wheel chair with multiple health issues, including chronic pain, depression, and PTSD for a past trauma. Her daily prescription cocktail consisted of more than 20 pharmaceuticals and for the most part she was bedridden on a daily basis. One thing led to another and I informed of my work and my own healing with the plant. Both the woman and her mother were cannabis patients, only smoking to relieve symptoms and complications from numerous prescription meds, as is the norm, but bud is expensive and they couldn’t always medicate as needed. To make a long story short, within weeks I was able to introduce them to a local dispensary for its “Compassionate Care Program,” and today (some months later) she is out of the wheelchair, progressed to a walker, and is now walking of her own volition. She’s also done away with more than 10 prescription meds to date. Can I get a witness? The minute someone is educated on this plant, lives are changed. And I don’t say that lightly. While the psychoactive properties of the plant can be challenging, lower percentage strains are being hybridized and grown everyday now, with real medicine being made with lesser or non-psychoactive effects. Safe access is crucial in getting the medicine to the masses in legal and medicinally legal states, but even the best dispensaries need to know about ingesting and provide many options for many ailments. Once someone knows the benefits of this plant, they are compelled to share. All we have are our words. These are mine: The Lord as my witness, I will evangelize cannabis until the last non-violent, failed Drug War patient is released. I will sing this truth to the heavens until God smiles down upon me with thanks for praising his good work. Though I may be called a conspiracy theorist, I will walk through the valley of cannabis and know that it is good. Amen. Medical What Are Those Things Called Cannabinoids? And What Are They Doing In My Marijuana? Part I: THC By Dr. Kit, Pharm.D, RPh.

Cannabis is made up of more than 400 known compounds, contained in 18 different classes, which, in varying combinations, result in both the beneficial and side effects of cannabis. Of these classes, the best known and most studied are the cannabinoids. Cannabinoids are both in cannabis as well as made by the human body. We have naturally-occurring receptors that are activated by cannabinoids, called the endocannabinoid system. Cannabinoids within cannabis, as well as the ones produced within the body, are able to bind with the receptor to stimulate this endocannabinoid system, resulting in the compound’s effects. With the new statelicensed dispensaries in Nevada, medicinal cannabis must be lab tested to determine the percentage of several different cannabinoids present in each batch of marijuana. In this three-part series, I will explore the effects, side effects, and therapeutic uses for the three most common cannabinoids: delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabidiol (CBD), and cannabinol (CBN), to help you select the best strains to treat your medical condition. In this, the first column of the series, I will discuss delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (aka THC).

Cannabis strains high in THC are useful in treating several diseases. Patients suffering from chronic pain who consume cannabis can have decreased pain perception, decreased inflammation, and muscle relaxation. In glaucoma, THC decreases the pressure inside the eye, which can slow vision loss caused by increased pressure on the optic nerve. Patients being treated with chemotherapy, as well as patients with AIDS or dementia, benefit from the decreased nausea and increased appetite associated with THC. As you can see, THC has several benefits in a wide variety of disease states. However, high levels of THC can result in unwanted side effects. Many newer strains have been developed, through cross breeding, to produce cannabis with THC percentages greater than 15% or even 20%. The most well-known reactions associated with high-THC strains are psychotic episodes, paranoia, increased anxiety and depression. Factors that put you more at risk for this effect are personal or family history of psychotic episodes, depression, or anxiety. Another common effect is short-term memory impairment, which can lessen as users become more accustomed to using cannabis. Less commonly, increased heart rate and blood pressure have been reported, including an increased risk of heart attack and stroke within 1 hour of smoking cannabis. This is an uncommon side effect, has only been

reported with smoking cannabis (not with other ways of using cannabis) and has been mostly reported in patients who have a history of previous heart attack or stroke. Some examples of strains high in THC (>15%) include Girl Scout Cookies, OG Kush, Super Lemon Haze, Strawberry Cough, Chem Dawg, Master Yoda, Sour Diesel, AK 47, Bubba Kush, Northern Lights, White Widow, Pineapple Express, Blue Cheese, and Ghost Train Haze. High Times is an excellent reference for additional strains to try. Some dispensaries, such as the state-licensed dispensaries in Nevada, will list the THC percentage on each batch of medicinal cannabis sold, which will make the choice of medication easier. Unfortunately, testing and reporting of THC levels is not required in every state that allows medicinal cannabis. However, as states see the experience of states that do require testing, more may add the testing requirement to their programs. Next month, I will talk about the cannabinoid that, due to recent media attention, is almost as famous as THC: cannabidiol, aka CBD. Learn why CBD has been touted as a “miracle drug” for such difficultto-treat diseases as epilepsy. Dr. Kit, Pharm.D, RPh, is the co-owner of Medigrow, a Nevada grow school, established in 2008. She has also been a licensed, practicing pharmacist in Las Vegas since 2004.

Delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is created by heating tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, via smoking, vaporizing, or cooking, which converts it to active THC. Active THC is responsible for several effects in the human body. The most well-known are psychoactive effects, which result in the “high” commonly associated with marijuana, as well as relaxation and decreased coordination. However, THC also possesses anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxant properties, and is a potent antinausea compound. Ingestion or smoking of THC can also lead to a mild increase in appetite, as well as decreased intraocular pressure (the pressure inside the eye).

Rick Simpson: Cannabis Oil Pioneer

By: Stephanie Shehan

This month, I had the opportunity to interview Rick Simpson, a pioneer in the cannabis oil movement. Whether you agree with his methods or not, the sacrifices Rick Simpson has made in an effort to bring the healing properties of cannabis to the mainstream are undeniable. Following is what he had to say about his plight and the healing powers of cannabis oil. VCM: How are you? RS: I am still alive and kicking, but I have become totally exhausted from all these years of effort, although it now seems that the public is finally starting to catch on to what has actually been done to them. Still, they are allowing their corrupted governments to continue to withhold the free use of the most medicinal of all plants, which no government actually ever had the right to outlaw in the first place. So, it appears to me that it will take some time before we can rid ourselves of all this manipulation, but rid ourselves we will. For when this comes to pass, I think that we will all begin to live much longer and healthier lives and I will finally be satisfied that my goal has been achieved. VCM: You currently reside in Europe. Is that where you are originally from? RS: I am from the province of Nova Scotia, in eastern Canada. The only reason I am in Europe is simply due to the corruption of the Canadian government, which gave me a criminal record for the horrible crime of healing people and saving lives. The criminal methods which the legal system employed to see that I was convicted, truly sickened me and after witnessing this, I was no longer proud to call myself a Canadian. In addition, I think that the public should also know that I am not running from the law nor am I wanted by the police of any country and if I choose, I am free to return to Canada at any time. VCM: Did you research cannabis oil before making it yourself? RS: When I first produced the oil, it was out of desperation. What the doctors were providing to me to treat my injury was doing me nothing but harm. At that time, I had no idea about the true healing abilities of these extracts. But as soon as I discovered their real medical virtues, I began to research this subject very deeply. VCM: What illness compelled you to look for alternative treatments? RS: In 1997, I suffered a severe head injury at work and many months later, I was diagnosed with Post-Concussion Syndrome and due to the lack of proper treatment, I was no longer able to return to the profession which had kept me employed for the past thirty years. It was the

choice would be Naphtha, which is often called Benzine or Benzen here in Europe. One can also use alcohol if they choose, but it is a somewhat less effective solvent and will also dissolve unwanted chlorophyll from the bud material that you are working with. VCM: Do you believe that cannabis oil works for any ailment or disease? RS: Yes, if produced properly, due to the harmless nature of these extracts and the fact that the cannabinoids they contain work with our endocannabinoid system to provide balance in our bodies. I cannot imagine a more effective or safer medication to use to treat practically all our medical problems in a much more sensible and non-addictive manner.

horrible effects from this injury and lack of help from the medical system which compelled me to seek my own solution. And what I stumbled upon, has not only helped me but countless others now as well. VCM: You also had a bout with skin cancer right? RS: Yes, I was already suffering from undiagnosed skin cancer when my head injury occurred and it was many years later before I finally sought treatment from the medical system. One of the areas I was suffering with was operated on, but in a matter of weeks the cancer came right back. So I acted on a report I had heard on our local radio station back in the mid-nineteen seventies, which stated that THC had been found to kill cancer cells. After applying the oil to the three areas that were giving me problems, in four days they were all completely healed and that was over twelve years ago, so I feel that I have every right to say that this oil cured my cancer. As for chemotherapy and radiation, I was never offered these so-called treatments and even if I had been, I most definitely would have refused. VCM: What in your opinion, is the best solvent to use when making oil? RS: I have come up with my own method, concerning how these extracts can be produced with the use of no solvents at all. But still I feel that the use of solvents does not pose a danger, if the oil is produced properly and one follows the safety instructions which are available on my website phoenixtears.ca. When I was still manufacturing these extracts, my solvent of choice was Ether which can often be quite hard to acquire, but next to Ether, my solvent of

VCM: What about healthy adults? Should they be taking a maintenance dose for overall well-being? RS: Could anyone who is full of heavy metals and other toxins really be considered to be healthy, even if they look that way from the outside? The sad truth is, all adults are carrying around these ticking time bombs, which sooner or later will wreak havoc with their health. In my opinion, I believe that all adults should ingest a full 60-gram treatment, as quickly as they possibly can. This amount of high quality medicinal oil taken over a three month period, should rid their bodies of all toxins. Then afterwards they can just continue to ingest a drop at night, about an hour before bedtime and by doing so, they should be able to maintain a state of good health. VCM: What are your thoughts on cannabis oil for children? RS: I tend to look at children in a somewhat different way, due to the fact that they have only existed in this poisoned environment for a short time. Therefore, they may indeed be able to protect their health, by simply ingesting a drop at night, the same as their parents should be doing. Still, it should be noted that this is a very powerful medication, so it is necessary for most people to start off by ingesting very tiny doses. Then as they increase their dosage, in a short time they will be able to ingest a drop and feel no effects, so the same procedure should be followed when giving these extracts to children. If you really want to protect your children, to make sure that they are in the best state of health possible and since this medication is harmless and non-addictive, I would strongly consider giving them a full 60-gram treatment to deal with any health problems which could be lurking in their bodies. VCM: In your opinion, is oil the only way to cure cancer? RS: I think that by far, these extracts are the most effective and safest way we currently have

to deal with this dreaded disease. Not only does this oil fight cancer, it is also very effective in the treatment of a whole array of other serious illnesses. Through the years, many people have treated cancer in much more sensible and effective manners than our current medical systems choose to employ. These medical pioneers used many different methods and philosophies, but for the most part this has been hidden from the public. Many of these methods have been discredited or given little attention, even though they worked and had much better success rates than chemotherapy or radiation. VCM: Do you believe that those ingesting oil to treat a disease such as cancer should also follow through with traditional western medicine such as chemotherapy and/or radiation? RS: First off, I would like to know what is traditional about killing people, with poisonous chemotherapy and radiation or all the other pharmaceutical trash that our medical system seems to prefer to use. Isn’t medicine supposed to be based on something called the Hippocratic Oath and does that Oath not state, First Do No Harm, and as a doctor, I Shall Not Administer Poison? If these statements are true, then it seems that most doctors are living in ignorance, or non-compliance concerning the sacred Oath they swore. In regards to chemotherapy and radiation, I think that only someone who was badly misinformed about their effect, would even consider taking such dangerous treatments. In addition, I look at those who supply this madness, as being little more than criminals of the first order themselves. In reality, I cannot imagine how they live with themselves, knowing the harm they are causing to the patients, who put their very lives in their hands. Traditional medicine, is medicine from plants which do no harm and follow the Hippocratic Oath and these are the medications which doctors should be providing, if we are to continue to put our trust in them. When patients came to me, the first thing I would tell them, is to stay as far away from the medical system as possible and those who heeded my warning, had the best success rate. VCM: What factors do you believe lead to cancer and other disease? RS: I consider the biggest threat that leads to cancer and disease to be the lunatics we have allowed to run this world, for they are the ones who for the most part have brought about all this illness and death. Look at the way they are poisoning our planet more and more every day, with their fossils fuels and nuclear power, when it is common knowledge that cannabis could offer us a sensible solution to fulfill most of our energy needs. In addition, there has been genetic modification of our food supply and good old American beef is considered toxic in Europe. Chemtrails in our skies, pesticides, preservatives and factories everywhere spewing poison and yet still, most wonder what is causing so many of us to become sick? When I was a young man, cancer was still quite rare, but over the last forty years the rates of both cancer and many other serious health problems have skyrocketed. Now, shouldn’t it have become obvious to us all by now what

is causing disease rates to escalate at such an alarming pace? And, when are we actually going to get together and stand up as one to do something about it? VCM: What legal ramifications have you suffered due to your work? RS: I have been raided by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police on four separate occasions and I have been put through what they call their justice system and have seen that it is all corrupted to the core. If you would like to know more about the way one is treated when they try to do something good for this world, then I think the book I have written will prove to be a very eye opening experience. So for those who can withstand the ugly truth about our way of life, please go to my website phoenixtears. ca and purchase my first book, “Phoenix Tears: The Rick Simpson Story.” After going through its contents, I think that it will give you a much clearer picture of what has truly been going on and how we have all been deceived. One cannot challenge the alarming facts about our world which lays between its covers and I hope that this book will help many to realize that it is we ourselves who must bring the changes about which will ensure our survival. VCM: What is the most important thing that you want people to know about the cannabis plant? RS: I will use a statement from the late great Jack Herer to answer this question. In Jack’s amazing documentary Emperor Of Hemp, which was released in 1999, he stated that he didn’t know what will save this planet, but he does know that cannabis is the only thing that can, and I am in complete agreement. All that is required is a little simple research on the internet, and you will find that what Jack was telling us was true and cannabis hemp is obviously the only thing which can offer us salvation. Cannabis is a God-given medicinal plant, which no one ever had the right to outlaw, or restrict the use of in any way. We used this plant all through history, to ease our suffering and in reality, it is simply our natural right as humans to put it to good medicinal use and in many other manners as well. When we set the use of this plant free once more, we too will set ourselves free from all this manipulation, so let’s roll up our sleeves and get at it. VCM: Who inspires you? RS: It should come as no surprise that Jack Herer is the man that has inspired me the most. This individual was a warhorse, who withstood all that abuse and criticism, for forty long years and I am very proud to have known this man. Jack and I never did get the opportunity to meet face to face, but we did spend many long hours talking to each other on the telephone and I soon realized that this is a person who deserves the highest respect. So I honor you, my late friend, and I and many others still miss your presence and guidance every day. VCM: What strains do you prefer to make oil with? RS: Thousands of people have contacted me, asking my advice on what strain they should

grow and the answer is always the same. I really cannot advise you on what strain you should grow, other than to tell you that you should be looking for a sedative indica strain which has a THC content of 20% or more to get the best medical results. In addition, I feel that it is probably a good idea if one grows more than just one strain of indica. For when you have extracts from different indicas to mix together, you then receive all their different medical benefits. That is why I called the oils I used to produce in Canada a cure-all, because in the vast majority of cases that is exactly what they proved to be. VCM: Must it always be an indica strain? If so, what is the reason for this? RS: I have used some strains which were strongly indica-dominant sativa crosses with good effect. But one should be aware of the fact that if the sativa content is too high, the effects from such an extract may have undesirable effects on the patients. Therefore, when choosing a strain to work with, when there were no pure indicas available, I preferred to use varieties which were no more than 10% sativa. For the most part, extracts produced from sativas are very energizing and I do not recommend that such oils be ingested. But they can be used effectively to treat any number of skin conditions and other external problems, such as infections, warts and unhealthy moles etc. When I produced these extracts, I always preferred to use very strong sedative indica strains, due to the fact that they would cause the patient to sleep a great deal and this aids in the healing process. So as far as I am concerned, strong sedative extracts from powerful indica varieties are the way to go when treating serious internal diseases like cancer and other life threatening conditions. VCM: Any last words? RS: I think that it is everyone’s right to grow this plant freely, and if they choose to produce these extracts for their own use, then it is no one’s business but their own. We are the ones who create our own future and we are also the ones who must now stand up to save both our planet and ourselves, so we can provide a decent future for coming generations. In reality, I see no need for violence and cool heads must prevail, if we are to make a smooth transition to a better way of life. So wake up everyone, for we now have the medicine of our dreams at our disposal and all we have to do, to have the freedom to use it, is to unite and make our demands known.

PRISON OUTREACH

Marijuana activism is a roller coaster of emotions, to say the least. Some days the world is awakening and realizing common sense, other days it feels the world is against you due to more than 80-years of propaganda and misinformation. A roller coaster of emotion from the recent release of Jeff Mizanskey after more than 20-years in prison, to the recent two-year sentence for family man, chef, and caregiver Chris Martin of Hempful Farms Cafe in Arizona. It’s troubling when justice is corrected for one but then another is served an injustice; our country has bi-polar tendencies when we need to be on the same path. People are still being arrested and incarcerated even in legal medical states, as in the case of Chris Martin, while other states are flourishing with marijuana tourism and spa retreats. At the time of this article, Chris’ family reported he had been in custody for ten days, without health care, medicine, or the nutritional necessities he requires to treat his advanced Crohn’s Disease. In addition, Chris has been on lockdown 23.5 hours a day. Something is not right and it’s the law that is flawed, not the plant. As we celebrate the release of one of our oldest P.O.Ws and mourn the recent sentence of the newest, let us not forget those who have been serving time because they took a chance. Took a chance at being a respectable business person, took a chance to feed their families, took a chance on helping others. Please take the time to keep Chris Martin and his family in your thoughts. When an address is available, we hope you will send a letter of encouragement. This month we also like to ask if you would write to Jerry Harrison, Jr., convict number 209619, he’s living out a life sentence the same way Jeff Mizanskey did. His first two strikes were from non-violent drug offenses and, of course strike-three, where in Alabama, Judge Robert Smith had no choice but to give Jerry a life sentence for an amount of marijuana we’re now seeing in state run stores. Please take a minute and write a P.O.W, it means the world to them. Jerry Harrison, Jr. #209619, Fountain/Jo Davis

NATIONAL NEWS

KANSAS - Since the world learned that the Kansas Department of Children and Families (DCF) and the Garden City Police Department seized medical marijuana activist Shona Banda’s eleven-yearold son for speaking out during a drug prevention presentation at school, much has transpired. Her story has been spread internationally to Australia, France, Spain and the UK appearing everywhere from the crime blotter of a small local newspaper to international headlines in publications such as The Guardian, Huffington Post, Reason, The Atlantic. The list is quite substantial. Shona has a GoFundMe account that has raised almost fifty thousand dollars, with contributions from people such as Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple. The View, an ABC daytime broadcast spoke out in support of Shona as well. In spite of such overwhelming outrage regarding this case, on June 5th, Finney County District Attorney, Susan Richmeier filed charges against Shona Banda that could lead to over thirty years in prison. Shona’s pretrial begins on November 16th at 8:30am. To come and show your support, please arrive at 425 N 8th St., Garden City, KS dressed in your best. INTERNATIONAL - A new coalition of cannabis activists has begun formation recently. The United Coalition of Cannabis Activists (UCCA) mission statement is, “Uniting activists worldwide to repeal cannabis prohibition”. As of September, thirty-five activist organizations from Canada to Mexico, California to New York, and all other states between have united to end cannabis prohibition. The goal is to unite all organizations into a central hub to allow sharing of information, events, court dates and resources while maintaining individual group autonomy. Any group interested in joining can look up United Coalition of Cannabis Activists on Facebook. A website is being completed and will be up and running soon.

Patient Voice

So What Happens Next??? By: James Parsons

The main question people have been asking me over the last month is this, “What do you think the outcome of Parsons v. Nevada will be, James?” This is a very complex question, but I’m going to explain it as best as I possibly can, and also try to provide the reasons why the Parsons v. Nevada complaint needed to happen in the first place. First, let me just say this: In Las Vegas, you can bet on sports all day long and there are “experts” all over town that can “pick winners”; you can ask 50 experts about the same sporting event, but there are only going to be two outcomes. You’re either going to be on the winning side, or you will be on the losing side. However, this isn’t always the way it works in the justice system. To get a better perspective on this, just ask 50 attorneys about the same case and what they think the outcome will be. Good luck trying to keep track of the 50 different interpretations you’ll receive. When you ask 50 sports gamblers, you get one of two answers; however, when you

ask 50 attorneys --- you will get 50 different and 50 equally impressively argued interpretations. After all, these guys just “practice” law whereas a professional sports gambler wins or loses. Sometimes being first doesn’t always mean that you are trying to win. In fact, in the justice system, it is very rare that the first plaintiff to raise the complaint is the one whose case sets the legal precedent. My goal in filing Parsons v. Nevada was twofold: 1.) Fight for my rights that were unlawfully violated and learn the process. 2.) Raise awareness that our rights were violated so that others could fight as well by learning the process I would learn. Parsons v. Nevada raises awareness. Parsons v. Nevada provides a blueprint for others to fight by removing the fear of doing and the wondering of how to do it for themselves. Doesn’t that sound like the same two reasons MCCNV was opened? Learn the process of how to join the program and then teach others to do the same? There is always a method to my often misunderstood madness, and after MCCNV and the raids, the next steps to take were easy to figure out.

Vegas Cannabis Magazine • October 2015 • 26

As far as I’m concerned, these two goals have achieved the desired effect. Usually the first plaintiff raises awareness on the issue. Once awareness is raised on an issue, then the public starts taking a look at the issue. That is when you will start seeing other cases hit the dockets. Then, as more and more people are exposed to the Parsons v. Nevada complaint, it is almost like a permission slip from the universe for them to file similar complaints. Its part of the universal law of attraction: if you shine your light on a path, it will attract others on that similar path. This is the same method I used back in 2008, getting people to have the courage to open brick and mortar businesses. Remember MCCNV? I know I keep mentioning it for a reason. That’s because within 18 months of opening MCCNV, there were over 200 more locations in Las Vegas advertising to help patients navigate the patient registry process. I expected the same thing to happen in 2015 when I filed Parsons v. Nevada. And guess what? Within a month of filing the Parsons v. Nevada complaint, two more attorneys have filed similar complaints. Where was this activity for the last 15 years? Where were these attorneys 3, 5, 10 and 15 years ago? I’ll tell you where: waiting for somebody to come along and remove fear, as well as to clarify the obvious (just like MCCNV did) --- the medical marijuana patient registry card process in Nevada violates the United States Constitution and the Nevada Constitution. Then, after the first path is cleared (Parsons v. Nevada), they waited for somebody (John Doe, for example, in the Hafter Law case) to come along and retain them (pay/compensate) to form and file the complaint. So, usually what happens is that somebody in the community sees another person take action (like I did), then the fear is removed and the inspiration is there for them to take action as well. This usually sends other potential plaintiffs from the community seeking legal answers for themselves. This is no different than the entrepreneurs that saw the MCCNV office back in 2009 and decided they should

open offices too; only now I’m encouraging people to bring charges against the state and file complaints. Once these plaintiffs started asking attorneys to look at the Parsons v. Nevada complaint and the attorneys actually took a look at the statute for themselves (something attorneys frequently do not do unless they have been retained to do so), a few of them obviously saw what I have been saying all along. They decided to file some lawsuits on behalf of these clients, who are now feeling safe to follow a path that they see is now available to them. This is what makes the answer about what will happen next so complex. You will hear this all the time, “the judicial system works on a case by case basis”, and it couldn’t be more true.. Parsons v. Nevada is no exception. I have absolutely no clue what will happen. I have my thoughts (as does every arm chair supreme court justice out there), but I can only go to court and hope to have the opportunity to argue the merits of my case. That is it right now and I’m grateful for even that opportunity. I learned not to play the “what if” game here in Nevada’s justice system. I have been in far too many courtrooms around the country already, where I’ve watched slam dunks get rejected, and also cases more flaccid than fresh boiled spaghetti destroy families.

Patient Voice The next opinion I’ve received is that the state’s motion to dismiss will be denied. The state will be ordered to actually address the merits of the complaint and oral arguments will be scheduled for the next court date. This is a very positive potential outcome, because I believe the state has no argument and I can win a motion for summary judgement (that I’ve already prepared) just as easily as I can file it. And the final opinion (and obviously what I am hoping for), is that the motion to dismiss will be denied and I will prevail on at least 2 of the 3 counts, if not all 3. My HIPAA/Right to Privacy argument is the one that created the most diversity of opinions throughout the legal community, but I am 100% confident in the Fifth Amendment and the Second Amendment arguments. I am even more confident that one of the cases filed after Parsons v. Nevada will clean things up. For this reason, I would encourage people to take a look at the case that has been filed by Jacob Hafter of Hafter Law. If Parsons v. Nevada is sidetracked or delayed in any way, then I know the case filed by Mr. Hafter will force judicial decisions to be made about the registry

before the end of December. This is a great feeling, as now I know the state is on watch, and it’s only a matter of time before one of us throws the dart that sticks, so to speak. I have no problem being the tip of the spear, just as long as it empowers others to bring their spears into battle as well. That is exactly what is happening. Will Parsons v. Nevada change anything for the patients? IT ALREADY DID. You now have at least 3 cases working their way through the system that will help the patients. They may not win, but they will provide the guidance and the foundation for us to eventually get there. I wish I could be more of a fortune teller. We all know we have waited far too long to receive the rights given to us by the people of the great state of Nevada in 2000, but right now, all I can tell you is that you’ll know by the next issue of Vegas Cannabis! Keep picking up issues and start picking one up for a friend and sharing the love. I’ll see you next month to fill you in.

You honestly cannot predict what will happen in court. You just can’t. (See OJ Simpson’s murder trial for example). What I can do is to share with you what have been the most honest and understandable positions I’ve heard about the case. There are three potential outcomes I’ve been told that make the most sense. Here they are in no particular order. First, I’ve been told that my case has some structural and procedural issues that will need to be fixed and that the state’s motion to dismiss will be affirmed. I will have to refile the case at the District Court level or it will be transferred. This means that my case isn’t dead, just that I need to clean it up and then file it in the correct venue as determined by the judge. This is a learning process for me as well so we shall see.

Local Glass Artist Spotlight

Curse is a local, top shelf, independent glass blowing artist, formerly of the Glass Automation studio, now at Dope Ass Glass. A native Nevadan, he began his career as a glassblowing artist eight years ago at the age of seventeen. Curse has won multiple awards at previous CHAMPS glass blowing tournaments, a biannual convention for smoking accessories, and is frequently seen at many cannabis events, helping create a better Las Vegas cannabis scene. In addition to making glass pieces, he creates colored glass rods and tubes for sale to other glass artists. Glass artists will also use molds to assist with mass production of one type of design, to keep consistency between pieces. Curse also creates stickers that can be fired onto a water pipe to create someone’s own line of glass pipes. Maybe you will see a glass line of Vegas Cannabis magazine pieces sometime in the future. Electroforming is a technique of fusing copper to glass and was seen in multiple Envy glass pieces at CHAMPS this summer. It adds an interesting element to a glass piece, as the copper also has a patina and is fused with crystals or other items. Curse has experimented with this medium, but prefers keeping it just about the glass piece. JS: Who and what has inspired you to be a glass artist? CURSE: Wicked 66, from Dope Ass Glass, originally taught me how to blow glass at age 17. JS: Where do you see the glassblowing industry evolving in the next five to ten years? In the past, people used to go to a tailor for their clothes and now they will go to a store for their massproduced clothes. Glass companies will buy out a glass blowing factory and mass produce a glass design with their logo on it. You either need to be a really great artist or have a really great brand for your pieces to sell. JS: Which piece or pieces are your best sellers? And how do people make ultraviolet (UV) reactive pieces? CURSE: Sherlock pipes, Buddha pieces, and small oil rigs sell the most. To make UV pieces, uranium must be added to the glass but it is very hard to get the yellow cake to make these glass pieces. JS: If someone wanted to begin blowing glass pieces, what would you recommend to them? CURSE: Go to work for a glass manufacturing company or visit them and ask for a job. Trying to blow glass at home, when you are just starting out, is difficult because of the equipment needed. Shaping and seals can be hard to do along with the details that are added to the glass. JS: How do you see glassblowing fitting into the emerging cannabis industry in Las Vegas? CURSE: Production pieces - it is all about what big money wants. Smokin’ With The Stars featuring By Bill Shehan PAUL WALL

I caught up with Paul Wall in Cali, and bullshitted with him for a while. He’s a pretty righteous dude that always has some cool stuff going on. Paul has his own strain called Satellite OG, along with his own personal vaporizer, gold leaf wraps, and let’s not forget about what made him famous… his Grillz. Paul Wall broke into the rap scene by selling everybody custom designer grillz.. Most of his clients pay thousands of dollars for a mouthful of diamonds and precious metal. One of his most expensive Grillz was sold to Lil Jon for $50,000. That set was made of platinum and diamonds. Let’s get the interview started… Bill- What up, Paul? Hit this fatty. It’s Cherry Pie and OG Kush just like your song with Baby Bash.

Paul- Crumble to Satellite, produced by DJ59 with Devin the Dude and Currency. I want to tell everybody to look out for Currency. He advocates for cannabis, and is doing big things in the industry. This album is all about riding and relaxing. Whether you are riding, smoking, bumping your music, or if you’re just sittin’ back, chillin’ at the crib, doing what you doing, smoking, getting high, that music goes a long way. You know what I’m saying? Bill- Yep. Hey, when are you coming back out to Vegas? Paul- I don’t know man. I’m gonna be really busy promoting the new album, Slab God. I’m gonna be all over the place. Bill- What happened at Hempcon a few months back? Paul- They came and got us for smoking. It was bullshit. Bill- That sucks, Vegas has seen better days. Let me know if you would like to perform at a private patient party in Vegas once you get some time.

Paul- OK, I see you. (Leans back, and takes a heavy draw) Bill- Can I call you George Foreman?... since you are selling everybody grillz?

Paul- Yeah, that sounds dope.

Paul- Ha, Hah, yeah.

Bill- Private parties are the way to go these days. We can smoke all we want in the privacy of a home.

Bill- You have a wife, Crystal and a little boy and girl. Do you have any family portraits where everyone is wearing grillz? Paul- Yep, but they don’t wear them all the time like me, just on special occasions. Bill- Right on. I see you and your wife do a cooking show. How is that coming along?

Paul- In San Antonio a few months back Baby Bash and I were pulled out of the club and arrested because the cops smelled weed, searched the car, and found less than one gram in our car.

Bill- Does she cook with cannabis?

Bill- That’s terrible. I think I have more than one gram in between the seats. You openly supported Barack Obama in the 2012 Presidential Election. Who gets your vote this time around?

Paul- She makes these chicken wings with a medicated sauce...Oohwie. Man, that medicated sauce is the truth. We had them at the High Times Cup. Once you are about ten wings deep, you are feeling pretty good.

Paul- A close friend told me that if I don’t vote, it’s the same as voting for Donald Trump. So I guess I gotta get out there and vote. Deez Nuts looks pretty good to me. If I see em’ on the ballot, I’m definitely voting for Deez Nuts.

Bill- Sounds awesome. I see you have a new album hitting the streets as this issue hits the press. It’s called Slab God. I take it you dab some…

Bill- I’d like to see Hillary Clinton debating with Deez Nuts; winner gets a cigar. Let’s wrap this up. Our joint is down to the filter. I really appreciate your time today. Good Luck with your new album Slab Gods. See you soon.

Paul- It’s going pretty good. We’re just doing stuff for fun. My wife is great in the kitchen.

Paul- Oh yeah! I like it all...blunts, pipes, bongs, dabs, you name it. Bill- How many songs are on this LP? And, do you have a favorite song on it?

Paul- It’s ALL good.

Not for Public Consumption: Where Can Patients Legally Medicate? By: Derek J. Connor Esq.

As an attorney practicing in the area of medical marijuana, patients and entrepreneurs often approach me with questions regarding their rights. One subject that comes up quite often is whether or not patients may use their medical marijuana in public. Nevada law on the subject is very clear; medical marijuana patients may NOT use their medicine in public or in any place that may be open to public view. NRS 453A.300(1)(d)(1) states that patients are not immune from prosecution, and may not raise an affirmative defense to criminal charges if they are found to be using their marijuana in any place open to the public, or any place exposed to public view. Patients found to be using their medicine in public view may face criminal prosecution, and their patient cards will not provide any legal protection. As such, patients should only use their medicine in private places, such as their homes. Patients should never use their medicine while driving, or in any place where the public could observe them such as concert venues, festivals, or on public streets.

In addition to the foregoing, there are other restrictions on the public use of marijuana. For example patients have no right to use their medicine, or even carry medicine on their person, at a correctional facility. Patients must understand that if they are arrested and taken into custody, for any reason, they will not have access to their medical marijuana while they are in custody. Further, patients visiting correctional facilities should not attempt to bring their medical marijuana with them or they could face serious charges.

Patients should also understand that their employer may forbid them from using their medicine while they are at work. Pursuant to NRS 453A.800, no employer is required to provide for the use of medical marijuana in the workplace or modify work conditions to provide for the medical use of marijuana. Patients should understand

that they do not have a legal right to use their medicine while they are at work, even if their medical condition calls for daily use. However, Nevada employers must make reasonable accommodations for the medical needs of the employee who engages in the medical use of marijuana pursuant to NRS.453A.800(3)(b) so long as those accommodations would not pose a threat of harm or danger to persons or property, or place an undue burden on the employer. While some employers may permit their employees to use their medical marijuana during working hours (subject to the conditions above), as a general rule, patients should assume that they will not be allowed to medicate at work. Businesses should also be advised of the risks associated with permitting marijuana use on their properties. Businesses that are open to the public, or businesses operating in venues that are open to the public, should not permit marijuana to be used on the premises. Doing so could expose the businesses and their owners to risks including the loss of their licenses (as in the case of a medical marijuana establishment), civil, or even criminal penalties. In conclusion, for the time being, medical marijuana use should be restricted to the patient’s home. Patients and businesses with specific legal questions relating to medical marijuana use should contact an experienced attorney for a consultation. Derek J. Special Feature 6 Reasons Exercise Is Better On Weed By: Anthony Franciosi

The words “marijuana” and “exercise” may not go together upon first glance, but they actually go hand in hand. The marriage of the two is something you may have not considered, but if you’re looking to get ripped--you really should. Listen up. Did you know that weed is actually the best thing you can do for your workout routine? Sure, we know pot has the power to relieve pain and stress, but did you know it can also improve focus, increase metabolism, and make you BETTER at your favorite sports? Let’s look at the facts. Some of the most incredible athletes are actually pot smokers. Don’t believe me? This may sound crazy, but think about it.

Remember Michael Phelps? He has 22 Olympic medals and, as we all know, he’s a big fan of the reefer. He got in trouble, but seriously: If Phelps can smoke weed and be that great at swimming, wouldn’t you think it might play some part in his athletic achievement? If that’s not reason enough to introduce pot into your fitness regime, I’m really not sure what is. But, in case you do need a little more convincing, here are 6 concrete reasons why exercise is better on weed:

1. Weed raises your metabolism. Let’s start with the basics so we can get the ball rolling on an explanation as to why you should be ROLLING a fatty before hitting the gym. Marijuana can help speed up your metabolism so you can actually get a fat-burning boost before hitting the elliptical. According to a study recorded in Men’s Journal: “The compounds THCV and cannabidiol found in marijuana may help raise metabolism, speed fat loss, and lower cholesterol.” So, if you’re looking for a little something extra preworkout, smoke a little weed. This might seem counterintuitive but, nope, it really does help. Pot smokers are just thinner. As Wellspring notes:

“American Journal of Medicine researchers have discovered that pot smokers actually have 16% higher levels of fasting insulin in their bodies than those who abstain from marijuana. In addition, the study indicated that cannabis users have 17% lower insulin resistance levels as well as significantly smaller average waist circumferences than their non-smoking counterparts.” Controlled insulin levels are key to energy and weight-loss. Pot is good for insulin levels which means pot is good for your body.

2. Weed reduces anxiety and gets you revved up to workout. Strangely enough, weed is actually the key ingredient in pumping you up for a workout. After smoking, we feel more heightened and ready to take on the gym by storm. As Stanford Medical School professor Keith Humphreys told Outside Magazine, “We have cannabinoid receptors throughout our brains, and when the THC hits those receptors, it triggers a system that reduces anxiety. That you would feel more aggressive is a natural reaction to the drug.” So, while you might think that weed would chill you out and force you to complacently melt into the couch, forging the gym completely, it actually can help you get ready for your routine. It reduces anxiety and pumps you up! Who

exercise.

3. Weed can make you better at sports.

STONERS, REJOICE! Here’s another zinger. Weed actually has a similar effect on your body that the gym has.

Marijuana can literally make you better at the games you love to play. While participating in activities DRUNK might impair your judgment and compromise your performance, smoking weed will actually IMPROVE your skills. In an interview with Men’s Journal, wellknown triathlete Clifford Drusinsky, a Colorado gym owner who actually holds sessions where everyone gets high, said: “Marijuana relaxes me and allows me to go into a controlled, meditational place. When I get high, I train smarter and focus on form.” Since you’re relaxed after smoking, you’re automatically more aware of the tasks at hand, which of course is crucial to sports aptitude. According to Business Insider, Outside Magazine correspondent Gordy Megroz said weed actually made him better at skiing. He said that once he got high, he felt really pumped up and was ready to take on all of the slopes. So, there you have it, smoking weed improves sports and science says so. Take that, mom and dad!

4. Weed helps your muscles recover. You know what seriously blows about a super hardcore workout? Being super sore the next couple of days after. Luckily, the answer is even simpler than eating a ton of protein and having a trusty spotter: get high AF. According to Megroz, smoking weed actually helped his muscles recover more quickly than going at it alone. He reported that when he did squats while high, he wouldn’t get as sore. Smoking weed means the end of the muscle pain after workouts. Wouldn’t that make you just want to workout more? Hell yeah.

5. Weed does the same thing as

According to Wellspring, marijuana can activate the same areas of the body that exercise can: “As a group of lipids, fats, and cell receptors that THC bind to when smoking weed, the endocannabinoid system plays a prominent role in the neurological system for maintaining homeostasis for overall human health. In short, the endocannabinoid system is responsible for easing our pain, controlling our appetite, relieving our stress, influencing our mood, and even regulating our memory.”

marathon, because the cannabis enables them to remove the monotony and stay in a steady rhythmic zone for keeping at a competitive running speed.” So if you’re looking to stay in the zone and improve your longevity like so many top performers (cough, Michael Phelps, cough) just light up! Anthony Franciosi is the founder of HonestMarijuana.com, an organic marijuana growery based in Colorado.

So, think about combining the exercise AND pot! It’s like a recipe for happiness, wellness, and delight.

6. Weed keeps you in the zone. On top all the aforementioned, magical things weed can do to help improve your fitness strategy, it can also help you stay ultrafocused during your routine. As Wellspring points out: “Many long-distance runners admit to using vaporizers or edibles before participating in a

Business Spotlight

What’s Your Business?

By: Stephanie Annis Joe, Owner of California Care Group, Care Group Gardens, all of the Care Groups in Southern California and Nevada What is your business? If you were to put it all underneath one umbrella, I own Care Group Gardens. It’s a combination of a few different things. We obviously have our mobile delivery services, we have gardens, state licensed grows. We have charities we donate to and work with, we have patients that we ensure are getting medication, free of charge, no donation or cost to them at all. Really, we’re just a network of caregivers under one umbrella just helping people throughout Southern California and Nevada.

Where do you operate? Southern California and Nevada. We started in Redlands, California four years ago. I’d say two and half years ago, we opened Chino. A year and a half ago, we opened Moreno Valley. A year ago, we

opened Victorville. Almost ten months ago, we opened Yucaipa, California, which is basically an extension of Redlands, because Redlands got too big over the last four years. And then, just recently, in the last year, we’ve been doing stuff in Nevada as well.

When did you open your first cannabis business? October of 2011

What happened in your life to lead you to take an open and public stance? I found out I had cancer about five years ago. I left my job and was running out of options on what I was going to do financially. At first, I got involved with this industry purely based on the profits. During cancer treatment, I started learning more about the medicinal side of it; the healing powers of cannabis. I started falling in love with the health and help side of this business, not just the profits. We all have to pay our bills, but it feels good to be part of an industry that’s not only paying my bills, but is also allowing me to help a lot of people in the process. That’s gratifying. And that’s why, even though I’m cancerfree now, I choose not to go back into the field I was in before I got involved with this business.

Which issue facing the industry do you think needs to be addressed? Well, that’s all based on opinion, obviously. My opinion is, they need to streamline this process as a country. Not just state by state. I understand that laws are different, not just with cannabis, but with everything else. Laws are different depending upon where you go. Sometimes it’s city-wide, sometimes it’s county-wide, other times it’s state-wide. But with cannabis itself, there needs to be a general guideline, I believe, indicating who is allowed to use cannabis for medical reasons or not. I guess the easiest way to explain it is there’s the extreme, where it’s no secret most people can walk into a doctor’s office and obtain a recommendation fairly easy in some states. However, in other states medical patients with horrible illnesses have to jump through hoops for a year in

Vegas Cannabis Magazine • October 2015 • 40

order to get their rights to use cannabis. There needs to be more of a streamlined process throughout the United States.

How would you solve the problem? There’s a lot involved. It’s tough to say I’d solve it one way or another, because there’s a lot that goes into it. If I could snap my fingers and change it, I think that realistically, every doctor should be able to write a prescription for marijuana. At the end of the day, we’re killing our country by writing prescriptions for medication such as opiates. That’s the biggest problem in our country right now. But doctors are still afraid to talk about cannabis treatment and to date, there have been zero overdoses from cannabis. Personally, in my own family, there has been three or four neardeath experiences and two overdoses from opiates. And that’s just my family. The system is definitely corrupt and warped.

Why is it vital to fix now? It should have been fixed years ago. It should have been fixed before it was broken. I think today it’s a matter of just doing what’s right. Because I think what politicians, and in general people who don’t understand cannabis see, unfortunately, is the “stoner culture” and they judge the plant, cannabis, on just that culture. With anything, whether it be automobiles or coffee or anything, there’s a sub-culture. Of course, not everyone’s going to agree with a sub-culture, but that doesn’t define the underlying benefits of cannabis. When people Google the word cannabis, 95% of the pictures that show up are hot chicks smoking joints, or guys in Rasta hats smoking joints. I try to leave all those images out of my business because I feel that until things change, people are pre-judging the medicine because of the sub-culture.

Ganja Garlic Shrimp Ingredients: • 2 Dozen Large, Fresh Shrimp • 1/4 Cup Cannabis Olive Oil • 1/4 Cup Ghopped, Fresh Parsley • 3 Cloves Garlic, Minced • 1/2 Teaspoon Pepper • 1/4 Cup Budder (Canna Butter) • 1/2 Cup Breadcrumbs, Toasted - French Baguette Works Best • 1/4 Cup Freshly Grated Parmesan Cheese Directions: First, peel shrimp and arrange in 11” X 7” baking dish. Pour canna oil over shrimp. Combine parsley and the next three ingredients. Sprinkle over shrimp. Cover and bake at 300°F for 15 minutes. Then, turn shrimp over, drizzle with BUDDER (canna butter) and sprinkle with breadcrumbs and cheese. Bake uncovered 5 to 10 minutes.

Cannabis Oil The NOT so secret ingredient: The Happy Chef Cannabis Oil. I have listed amounts of cannabis used as a dosage from regular to strong. I suggest to start with the regular as I do not know which strain you are using. Remember, you can always eat more! Ingredients: • 4 cups oil • 1/2 oz of cannabis REGULAR • 3/4 oz of cannabis MIDS • 1 oz of cannabis STRONG Method: First, pour whatever oil you decided to use into a large skillet or double boiler. Put your stove top on a medium heat setting. Let it warm up...DO NOT let it boil...this is VERY important for quality cannabis oil. Now, once your oil is hot you may add your finely ground cannabis into the skillet. Then TURN DOWN heat so it is just below simmering! Make sure you stir frequently and watch out for boiling...DO NOT let it come to a boil - BUBBLES ARE BAD! If you start to see it bubbling just remove from heat and let it cool down. You are going to continue this for 3-4 hours. Every hour take a wooden spoon and dip in oil and make a dot on a white plate. You will see the oil go from clear to dark green. You want it a good shade of green. Do not cook any less than 2 hours or more than 6 hours. You risk under extraction and scorching. After approximately 4 hours, turn off heat and let oil COOL DOWN...let it cool enough so you do not burn yourself. Then, grab cheesecloth or a metal strainer and strain to remove all oil from cannabis into a container of your choice. (I use jars). Shelf life is around 2 months. You may also put in freezer for a longer shelf life. Discard cannabis in cheese cloth/strainer. PAULYMACC

Paulymacc has put in work and paid his dues since being put on the Rhyme Syndicate back in 1988. He is currently the front man for the band Columbyne, always in the mix of things, it’s safe to say he was born to be a Ringmaster.

with partners Paul Ramirez and Bayer Wynn. Ring Master Branding, we do media consulting, digital marketing, and distribution. Thanks Jenn and Floyd for a great opportunity as 45 million people viewed the fight that night. DA: How do you think Las Vegas should handle cannabis legalization?

DA: Most people know you for your current project, metal-raprock group Columbyne, but most people don’t know how you got started in the music business, let us know.

PAULYMACC: Those 21 years and over should be able to buy recreationally. Cannabis is much safer than any other drug on earth and it shouldn’t be classified the way it is. Let’s keep the politicians out of this and let the people flex their rights!

PAULYMACC: I got started in the 8th grade watching DJ Michael White in Gerson Park at the Boys and Girls Club. I then met DJ Michael Williams in 1983 at Garside Middle School and we formed The Guardians of The Beat. Six months later, we became the FBI Crew (Funky Beats Inc.) with Shaun Brandon aka NYC and Albert Williams aka King Alski. We are all original Zulu Nation and Rhyme Syndicate members. Alski and I eventually formed the group Hooded Figures. I also formed a band with Dusty Hines called 187.

DA: What’s your personal opinion on cannabis? PAULYMACC: Cannabis saved my mom’s life, a CBD rich treatment kicked cancer in its ass, so I’m all for it! DA: What are your favorite strains? PAULYMACC: Zombie OG and Cookies DA: What’s up next for Columbyne and Paulymacc? Any big shows or tours coming up? PAULYMACC: Rock legend recordings RED Distribution, a division of Sony Entertainment has accepted our album NAMELESS. We will be playing throughout October, fresh off the Art of Rap Tour with the Ring Master Crew.

DA: Your latest music video “Burn” just came out, what was the inspiration for that track? PAULYMACC: “Burn” is a dope track. In the video, we advocate for the medical use of marijuana and for legal adult use. I’m currently shooting a movie called “Still Baked”, the song “Burn” is featured in the movie. Freedom was the inspiration behind that song.

DA: Shout outs? PAULYMACC: Big up to my band Double J, Dirt, Klaus, Hoov and Lavin. You guys are amazing musicians and really hold it down for Columbyne. Shout out to the Nameless Compound owner Tony Lavorin where we print our band merchandise. Catch us on @ ringmasterbmc and @Columbyne on Instagram, @Columbynelv on Twitter and Facebook. Look for Columbyne in Europe on tour in 2016. Lets Go!

DA: Did I see you on TV walking out with Floyd Mayweather at the fight? PAULYMACC: Yeah, that was me, the Ring Master, that shit was ill! It is also the name of my company
