Playing Darts Sharpens Reflexes and Coordination The Mind-Body Connection
When most people think of darts, they picture a pub, a dartboard, and a friendly competition among friends. But did you know that playing darts is more than just a social game? Darts can actually be a powerful tool for enhancing your mind-body connection, sharpening reflexes, and improving coordination. Whether you’re a seasoned player or a beginner, every throw works your brain and body in ways that are beneficial far beyond the dartboard. At Flight Club, located in the Grand Canal Shoppes inside The Palazzo, we’ve elevated the traditional darts experience with our high-tech, interactive Social Darts® – paired alongside delicious cocktails and a food menu that will blow your mind!
The Mind-Body Connection: What Is It?
The mind-body connection is how our mental and physical states communicate with each other. It’s why your heart races when you’re nervous and why a good workout boosts your mood. When you play darts, you’re tapping into this connection with every throw. Your mind calculates the distance, angles and timing, while your body executes the shot. Here’s the amazing part: every time you play, you strengthen these pathways, making your reflexes sharper and your coordination smoother.
Flight Club makes this connection even more engaging by blending advanced technology with traditional darts. Our high-tech Social Darts® platform elevates the game, taking darts to a whole new level. Through interactive gameplay, Social Darts® is challenging and rewarding, offering you a way to enjoy the game, improve your skills, and enhance your mind-body coordination – all while having a blast with friends and family.
Reflexes: Quick as a Dart
Reflexes are automatic responses to stimuli – like when you dodge a ball or catch something that’s falling. While it’s easy to think reflexes are “either you have them or you don’t,” reflexes can be developed! Darts may not seem like a reflex-based activity, but it is.
Here’s how:
Hand-Eye Coordination: Every time you aim, you’re training your brain to process visual information quickly and accurately. This coordination between eye and hand is a fantastic way to boost reflexes. With Flight Club Darts’ dynamic scoring, you see how close you are to the target and can adjust in real time, improving your accuracy with every throw.
Timing: Darts require precise timing – you’re focusing, aiming, and releasing the dart at just the right moment. As you play, you develop a keen sense of timing that sharpens reflexes. Social Darts® amps up the challenge with competitive and fast-paced gameplay that keeps your reflexes on high alert.
Coordination and Muscle Memory : Coordination is another skill honed by playing darts. Coordination is your brain’s ability to get different parts of your body to work together smoothly. Throwing a dart may seem simple, but it involves multiple muscle groups working in harmony.
Muscle Memory: When you play regularly, your body starts to remember the movements involved in aiming and throwing. This is called muscle memory. Your brain and muscles work together to memorize the best way to throw a dart. Once you have this muscle memory, your throws become more consistent – which is why experienced players can hit their target with such precision.
Fine Motor Skills: Throwing a dart requires small, controlled movements, especially in the hand and wrist. These fine motor skills are essential for daily tasks, from writing to using a smartphone. As you practice, you’re strengthening these muscles, making them more precise and controlled.
Balance and Stability: To throw accurately, you need a stable stance. This means that even your legs and core muscles are involved in the process. Playing darts helps improve your balance and stability as you learn to hold steady while focusing on your target.
Focus and Concentration: In the Zone
When you’re playing darts, you’re not just throwing blindly – you’re in the zone, focusing on your target and blocking out distractions. This kind of focus benefits all areas of your life. The technology at Flight Club is there to keep track of your performance, but you’re in control of each shot.
Mindfulness: Social Darts® at Flight Club is a great way to practice mindfulness, where you’re fully present. You’re not thinking about tomorrow’s to-do list – just the dart, the board, and the throw. Because the tech keeps score, you can relax and concentrate on the game, enjoying the moment.
Goal Setting: With each throw, you have a clear goal: hit the target. This goal-setting exercise is powerful because it teaches you to focus, plan, and execute. The interactive system at Flight Club adds a layer of excitement, with new goals often popping up as the game progresses.
Patience and Resilience: Getting a bullseye every time is tough! But playing at Flight Club teaches you patience and resilience. The dynamic scoring and immediate feedback help you learn from each throw, building mental resilience along the way.

NMN AND NAD+ Miracle Molecules or Cancer Fuel?
In the quest for longevity, few molecules have garnered as much attention as NAD+ and NMN. These molecules are at the core of cellular metabolism and DNA repair, processes essential for energy production and healthy aging. With the rise of biohacking, countless people now turn to NMN and NAD+ supplements, hoping to tap into their potential to extend healthspan, enhance cognitive function, and improve physical performance.
But amid all the excitement, there’s a growing concern: could these miracle molecules unintentionally support cancer growth?
As a physician at the forefront of longevity medicine, this question has made its way into many of my patient consultations. Let’s dive deeper into this controversy and separate what we know from what we theorize.
The Science Behind NAD+ and NMN NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme found in all living cells. It plays a crucial role in metabolism by helping turn nutrients into energy, and it’s also involved in maintaining healthy DNA by repairing damage.
As we age, our levels of NAD+ decrease, leading scientists to speculate that boosting NAD+ might reverse some of the signs of aging. Enter NMN (nicotinamide mononucleotide), a precursor to NAD+ that can increase its levels in cells when taken as a supplement.
It sounds straightforward, but the complexities of how our cells operate make this picture far more intricate.
Can NAD+ Promote Cancer Cell Growth?
The potential downside of NAD+ supplementation lies in its very function. NAD+ doesn’t just help healthy cells—it also supports cells that divide rapidly, such as cancer cells.
Some studies, particularly in animal models, have suggested that boosting NAD+ may give an advantage to cancer cells. Dr. David Sinclair, a renowned researcher in the field of aging and longevity, has been one of the leading voices advocating for NAD+ boosters, but even he acknowledges that caution is warranted. “We need more data, especially in humans, to fully understand whether NAD+ boosters could be dangerous in the context of cancer,” Sinclair said in a recent interview.
The Mechanism of Concern: PARP, Sirtuins, and Cellular Repair
To understand why NAD+ might support cancer, we need to look at how it interacts with PARP (Poly ADP-Ribose Polymerase) enzymes. These enzymes use NAD+ to repair damaged DNA. In healthy cells, this is beneficial. But in cancer cells, enhanced DNA
repair can allow them to survive when they might otherwise be destroyed.
Additionally, NAD+ activates sirtuins, proteins involved in regulating cellular metabolism and longevity. While sirtuins can suppress tumors in some cases, they might also enhance survival pathways in certain cancer types, making the relationship between sirtuins and cancer complicated.
Dr. Peter Attia, a longevity expert, has highlighted this complexity. “Sirtuins and PARP are double-edged swords. In healthy individuals, they promote longevity by maintaining DNA integrity. But in cancer, these same mechanisms might help tumor cells evade destruction,” Attia warns.
The Current Evidence: What We Know and What We Don’t
While it’s important to note that much of the concern is still theoretical, some evidence does exist to support caution:
• Animal Studies: A few preclinical trials have demonstrated that enhancing NAD+ can promote the growth of cancerous cells in mice. However, translating these findings to humans remains a significant challenge.
• Context Matters: It’s not just about whether NAD+ can fuel cancer growth—it’s about whether the individual has cancer or is at high risk of developing it. Healthy cells benefit from NAD+ by repairing damaged DNA and improving metabolism. But in the presence of cancer cells, those same benefits could backfire.
So, what does this mean for those taking NMN and NAD+ supplements?
My
Take as a Longevity Physician
At Elite Medical Associates, we practice evidence-guided medicine, focusing on maximizing healthspan while avoiding unnecessary risks. Based on the current evidence, I continue to recommend NMN and NAD+ boosters to healthy individuals, particularly those seeking to enhance energy levels and protect against age-related decline. The data strongly supports their role in improving cellular metabolism and reducing the burden of age-related diseases, from neurodegeneration to cardiovascular disease.
However, for patients with a history of cancer or those at high risk due to family history or genetic predisposition, I recommend a more cautious approach. Until more human studies are conducted, it’s wise to avoid taking NMN or NAD+ precursors if there is any concern about pre-existing neoplastic conditions.
What the Future Holds
We are on the cusp of understanding how these molecules
By: Manoj K. Sharma, DO, Board Certified Internal Medicine Elite Medical Associates
interact with the intricacies of human health and disease. As more human trials are conducted, I believe we’ll have clearer answers. For now, it’s essential that we practice personalized medicine. What works for one person might not be ideal for another, especially when cancer is part of the equation.
In the coming years, I expect more research to fine-tune our understanding of NAD+ and NMN, potentially revealing ways to selectively boost their levels in healthy cells without feeding cancerous ones. Until then, we must stay informed, cautious, and forward-thinking.
Elite Medical Associates offers personalized, evidence-based concierge medicine that combines the latest in longevity research with a holistic approach to health. WHAT IS OSTEOSTRONG? >>>
Benefits of Beginning OsteoStrong at a Younger Age
In the quest for peak physical performance and long-lasting health, a groundbreaking approach is making waves across the fitness and wellness landscape: OsteoStrong. This innovative system is not just another fitness trend; it's a scientifically backed protocol designed to enhance skeletal strength, which in turn, benefits the entire body. But what exactly is OsteoStrong, and why is it gaining such acclaim among individuals of all ages, especially those between 30 and 50, as well as athletes? Moreover, how does it fit into the burgeoning field of biohacking, and what implications does it have for everyday life?
At its core, OsteoStrong is a non-pharmaceutical, non-invasive system that focuses on applying osteogenic loading—brief but highly effective sessions of pressure to the skeletal system, stimulating bone growth, density, and strength. The process is simple yet profound, involving sessions that last less than 15 minutes per week, without the need to change clothes or break a sweat. It's based on the principle that the skeletal system
is capable of extraordinary growth and strengthening when subjected to the right kinds of forces.
For individuals in their 30s to 50s, OsteoStrong offers a beacon of hope in combating the onset of age-related decline in bone density and muscular strength. This age group stands to gain significantly from the system's ability to enhance bone density, a critical factor in preventing osteoporosis and reducing the risk of fractures. Moreover, improved muscular strength and balance, which are also outcomes of regular OsteoStrong sessions, can lead to better overall physical performance and a decrease in the likelihood of injuries. This is particularly relevant for those in their prime working and family-raising years, for whom time is often at a premium, and the ability to remain active and injury-free is invaluable.
Athletes, known for pushing their bodies to the limits, find in OsteoStrong a powerful ally in enhancing performance and durability. The system's ability to increase bone density and muscular strength directly translates to improved athletic capabilities. Whether it's running faster, jumping higher, or hitting harder, OsteoStrong provides the foundational strength that athletes need to excel. Furthermore, the reduced risk of sportsrelated injuries means athletes can spend more time training and competing, and less time sidelined.
In the realm of biohacking, where the goal is to optimize human performance and well-being through strategic interventions, OsteoStrong stands out as a prime example. By leveraging the body's natural adaptive response to osteogenic loading, it offers a shortcut to achieving greater physical strength and endurance. This aligns perfectly with the biohacker's ethos of making smart, efficient changes to one's lifestyle and environment to elicit significant health benefits. OsteoStrong's minimal time commitment and non-invasive nature also make it an attractive option for those looking to enhance their health without pharmaceuticals or extensive lifestyle overhauls.
Beyond the gym and the athletic field, the benefits of OsteoStrong permeate every aspect of daily life. For the everyday person, increased bone density and muscular strength mean more energy, less fatigue, and a lower risk of the common aches and pains that can come with aging. Improved balance and posture can lead to better functional movement, reducing the risk of falls and the chronic conditions often associated with poor skeletal health. In essence, OsteoStrong facilitates a more active, vibrant lifestyle, empowering individuals to enjoy their daily activities with greater ease and less pain.
OsteoStrong represents a paradigm shift in health and fitness,
offering a scientifically validated method to enhance skeletal strength and, by extension, overall well-being. Its benefits are wide-ranging, touching on aspects of health that are crucial for individuals in their 30s to 50s, athletes, and indeed, people of all ages. As a biohack, it offers a straightforward, efficient way to bolster the body's natural strength and resilience, making it a valuable tool in the quest for optimal health. For anyone looking to improve their physical performance, combat the effects of aging, or simply lead a healthier, more active life, OsteoStrong provides a compelling solution.

Maintain, Don’t Gain During the Holidays
The Five Do’s & Don’ts of Surviving the Holidays Without the Weight Gain: Part 1
The holiday season is here and with it comes the dreaded fear of holiday weight gain.
Are you worried about packing on those extra holiday pounds? Maybe you’re thinking, "I’ll just accept a 3-8 pound gain, bring it into the new year, and deal with it later." Or perhaps you’ve got weight loss goals you're aiming to crush before 2024 ends. Are we losing, maintaining, or hitting the YOLO button and saying, "Let’s just handle it next year"?
Whatever your approach, I’ve got you covered. Today, I’m sharing five do’s and don’ts for surviving the holidays without bringing extra weight into the new year.
Before we dive into the "don'ts," let's quickly discuss why holiday weight gain is so common. Studies show that many people gain an average of 3-8 pounds during the holiday season. The problem is, most of us don't lose those pounds afterward. This can lead to significant weight gain.
Five "Don'ts" for Holiday Eating
1. Don’t Save All Your Calories for Dinner
I know Thanksgiving and holiday dinners are packed with your favorite foods, but here’s the truth: saving all your calories for the big meal is a huge mistake. Why? Because if you starve yourself all day, by the time dinner rolls around, your logical brain might be telling you to "be sensible," but your primal instincts will be saying "FEED ME NOW!" And before you know it, you’re on your third plate, feeling stuffed and uncomfortable.
When we go too long without food, our hormones go into overdrive, making us hungrier and more likely to overeat. The next thing
you know, you’re unbuttoning your pants on the couch, wondering where it all went wrong. So don’t skip breakfast or lunch. Eat balanced, smaller meals throughout the day so you’re not ravenous by dinner. Trust me, you’ll thank yourself later.
2. Don’t Fall into the All-or-Nothing Trap
Ever have a doughnut for breakfast and think, "Well, I blew it—might as well eat junk for the rest of the day"? This is the classic all-ornothing mindset, and it’s a trap. One "off-track" meal doesn’t ruin your progress. It’s life, not a perfect streak.
So, you had a doughnut. Big deal! Just make your next meal a healthy one. Don’t let one slip-up spiral into an entire day (or weekend) of poor choices. The key here is balance, not perfection. Keep your goals in mind, and get back on track at your next bite, not next week.
3. Don’t Skip Your Workouts
I get it, holiday schedules can be hectic and full. Between family gatherings, parties, and shopping, it’s easy to let workouts slide. But this is when you need them the most. Even if you can’t get in your usual full workout, do something. A 20-minute walk, a quick strength session—anything to keep the momentum going. Even short workouts count.
Skipping workouts often leads to a slippery slope where your eating habits start to slip too. Plus, working out helps align your mindset with your goals. You’re more likely to make healthier food choices if you stay consistent with your exercise, even when life gets hectic.
4. Don’t Skimp on Sleep
By Rose Peterson
The holidays can mess with our schedules, especially with late nights and extra activities, but don’t sacrifice sleep! When we’re sleep-deprived, our hunger hormones go wild, making us crave sugar and high-calorie foods. Plus, lack of sleep raises cortisol levels, which can make weight loss even harder.
Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep each night. When you’re well-rested, you’re more likely to make mindful food choices and less likely to give in to cravings. So, put sleep on your holiday priority list!
5. Don’t Go to the Party Hungry
This one’s a game-changer! Don’t show up starving to a holiday party or meal. Just like you wouldn’t go grocery shopping hungry, don’t go to the party hungry either. Have a small meal with protein and fiber an hour or two before, so you’re not ravenous when you arrive.
This way, you can enjoy the special treats and meals without feeling the need to overeat. You’ll be able to stick to your plan of enjoying your favorite dishes without going overboard.
And there you have it—five don’ts to keep in mind if you want to avoid holiday weight gain. By following these five tips, you can enjoy the holidays without the guilt of weight gain. Remember, it's all about balance. Indulge in your favorite treats, but be mindful of your portions and make healthy choices.

How Circus Arts Foster Physical and Mental Strength The Wellness Behind the Spectacle
As a sixth-generation circus performer, I’ve spent my entire life immersed in the magic of the circus. But what many people don’t realize is that behind the dazzling performances and breathtaking stunts, circus arts are deeply rooted in wellness—both physical and mental. The strength, agility and focus required to master acts like aerial stunts, contortion, juggling and hand balancing don’t just happen overnight. They come from years of training, discipline, and dedication to total body and mind wellness.
With the upcoming International Circus Festival of Las Vegas, I’m thrilled to not only bring the best circus performers from around the globe to our city but also to shine a light on the incredible amount of wellness that goes into each performance. This festival is more than just entertainment—it’s a celebration of how physical strength, mental resilience, and emotional balance come together to create awe-inspiring performances.
The Connection Between Circus and Wellness
Many people may not realize it, but circus performance is a fullbody workout, combining elements of strength training, flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness. Aerialists, for example, must develop incredible upper-body and core strength to support their weight in mid-air while performing graceful movements. Similarly, contortionists need both flexibility and control over their muscles,
honing their bodies through daily stretching and strengthening routines.
But physical strength is just one part of the equation. Mental wellness plays an equally important role. When you're performing a high-flying trapeze act or balancing on a tightrope, there’s no room for doubt or hesitation. Circus performers train their minds to stay focused, present, and calm under pressure. This intense mental discipline is a skill that anyone can learn and apply in their own lives—whether it's staying calm in a stressful situation or pushing through challenges with a positive mindset.
As performers, we also rely on mindfulness techniques to stay grounded and centered. Before every performance, we practice deep breathing and visualization exercises to prepare our minds and bodies. These techniques help us stay in the moment and perform at our best, even when the pressure is on. It's a practice of mental fortitude that has tremendous benefits for overall wellbeing.
The Importance of Community in Wellness
Circus isn’t just about individual performance—it’s about community. In the circus world, we rely on each other for support, encouragement, and safety. Whether you're a flyer or a base in
an acrobatic act, trust and communication are key. This sense of teamwork fosters emotional wellness, as performers build strong relationships and a deep sense of belonging.
At the International Circus Festival of Las Vegas, we’re bringing together circus artists from 11 different countries—France, Argentina, Tanzania, Mexico, and more. These performers come from all walks of life but share a common passion for circus arts and a dedication to their craft. Throughout the festival, you'll see incredible acts like aerial stunts, Chinese pole, hand balancing, unicycling, and juggling—all of which demonstrate the perfect balance of physical and mental strength.
One of the most exciting parts of the festival is the opportunity for the audience to get involved. Each attendee will have the chance to vote for their favorite act, with the performer receiving the most votes honored with the Public’s Choice Award during our Gala Show on Nov. 5. This interactivity not only makes the festival more engaging but also helps to build a sense of connection between the performers and the audience, fostering community and shared experience.
Wellness for All
Circus arts are a unique intersection of physical fitness, mental wellness, and emotional balance, but you don’t need to be a circus performer to experience the benefits. Anyone can start incorporating elements of circus training into their own wellness routine—whether it’s taking an aerial yoga class, practicing mindfulness techniques, or simply finding a supportive community to help you reach your goals.
The beauty of the circus is that it shows us what’s possible when we combine strength, focus, and determination. And it reminds us that wellness is a lifelong journey, not just a destination. By cultivating both physical and mental health, we can achieve incredible things—both on and off the stage.
I invite you to experience the magic and wellness of circus firsthand by joining us for the International Circus Festival of Las Vegas. It’s an event unlike any other, showcasing the incredible talent and hard work of performers from around the world. Whether you’re a longtime circus fan or experiencing it for the first time, you’ll walk away feeling inspired—not just by the performances but by the dedication and wellness behind them.
Join Us at the International Circus Festival of Las Vegas

>>> Holiday Harmony
Protecting Your Inner Peace at Thanksgiving
As the holiday season approaches, the warmth of family gatherings comes with the potential for tension. Plans are being made, visits with extended family are in the works, and there's a chance that not everything will go smoothly. Whenever family and friends gather, there's always a chance for controversial conversations. Some of these topics may not align with our beliefs, forcing us to make a choice—defend our stance or stay silent. Both options—speaking up or staying silent—can impact our inner peace and mental well-being.
The beautiful thing about people is that we are all different, shaped by our unique life experiences. However, those experiences also define our beliefs, and the reality is that not everyone will think the same way. When we sit down at the Thanksgiving dinner table or during a holiday get-together, we have to remember that not everyone will see eye to eye.
A good mindset to adopt before heading into a holiday event is to strive to keep the peace—not just for others but also for ourselves. If we choose to engage in a conversation that clashes with our beliefs, we may end up defending ourselves instead of having a pleasant discussion. Sides get taken, and people turn against each other, creating a disastrous holiday experience. The holidays should bring us closer, not tear us apart.
Keeping the peace isn't easy. It requires us to bite our tongues, but if we don't, it can leave a wake of painful emotions that last for years. For example, for 15 years, I had Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve dinner at my mother's house. Then, a few weeks before Thanksgiving in 2016, my mother abruptly decided to stop hosting and declared that she wanted nothing to do with the holidays anymore. I was blindsided when I asked why; her answer wasn't what I expected. Her response felt like a blow to every holiday movie I'd ever seen: "It's not who you spend the holidays with; it's where you spend them." She then listed all the ways I had fallen short of her expectations as a son.
Unfortunately, this sparked an argument, and we've never found common ground since. That Thanksgiving shattered our bond as mother and son. Sure, we had many unresolved issues, but things were never the same after that. Love was replaced with animosity, and hate took over instead of forgiveness. Forgiveness and love are what the holiday season is about, but I haven't felt that in years.
Now, I'm left with a question: Should I have kept my mouth shut, or should she not have said anything? It's probably a bit of both, but once that cat is out of the bag, it is hard to put it back, which makes holiday dinners so difficult. They become a pressure cooker of joy, unresolved

emotions, and expectations. They can either give us peace and happiness or break our inner peace.
Our inner peace is vital for our mental health; the holidays test our inner strength. Achieving peace often comes down to making a conscious choice—and being at peace with it. Sure, we might not agree with someone at the moment, but sometimes it's best to let it go for the sake of our inner peace. Yet, many people try to force their beliefs on us, test our patience, and wear us down to prove they're right. In those situations, I'd say, leave. Walk away from the conversation, find something else to do—help in the kitchen, play with the kids, or just escape that triggering talk. If it's destroying your inner peace, sometimes you need to call it an early night.
Inner peace isn't just a dream; it requires hard choices, some of which we may not always like. We must accept that holidays can be volatile and not always the perfect Norman Rockwell scene. This sounds simple, but it's tough because some of the people causing us pain are family. Their words can cut deep. To protect our inner peace, we need to stop comparing our experiences, heal at our own pace, create boundaries, and lean into forgiveness. We can only control our choices and actions, and accepting things as they are is critical to maintaining our inner peace.
When you find yourself at the family table this year during holiday dinners, remember that you are in control of yourself. Don't let someone's words or actions destroy your inner peace. The holidays are supposed to be special, like memories in a scrapbook. They should be filled with positive memories for both kids and adults, but sometimes, the adults act like the kids. I have many positive holiday memories, but the most powerful ones are when I let someone ruin my inner peace. That's on me. Let me leave you with a hard life lesson I learned about the holidays: sometimes things are better left unsaid.
>>> Supercharge Your Diet
Five Small Seeds with Big Nutritional Benefits
In today’s fast-paced world, the choices we make regarding what we eat has a profound impact on our health and well-being. There’s an increasing recognition of the power of food as medicine, and on the opposite spectrum how some foods fuel illness. The saying “you are what you eat” resonates now more than ever, as research consistently shows that nutrient-dense foods can boost energy, prevent chronic diseases, and support overall vitality, while foods laced with additives that can cause us harm line the grocery shelves. The many nutritional options and advice readily available online can make knowing what to eat for health feel like a labyrinth. However, there are many foods that can make it easy to incorporate nutritious elements into your diet. Among these foods, superfood seeds stand out for their incredible nutrient profiles. Small but mighty, these seeds are easy to incorporate into your diet and offer significant health benefits. Let’s dive into five superfood seeds that can elevate your daily nutrition.
Chia Seeds: Tiny but Mighty
Chia seeds may seem unassuming, but they are packed with nutrients that can supercharge your health. Just one ounce of chia seeds contain an impressive amount of fiber, protein, and omega-3 fatty acids, making them a perfect addition to any diet.
Benefits:
Rich in Omega-3s: Chia seeds are an excellent source of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a type of omega-3 fatty acid that plays a crucial role in heart and brain health. These fatty acids can help reduce inflammation, lower cholesterol levels, and protect against heart disease.
High Fiber Content: With nearly 10 grams of fiber per ounce, chia seeds are fantastic for digestive health. Fiber promotes regular bowel movements and supports gut health by feeding beneficial gut bacteria.
Plant-Based Protein: Chia seeds offer around 4 grams of protein per serving, making them a great protein source. Protein is essential for muscle repair, immune function, and overall cellular health.
How to use them: Chia seeds are incredibly versatile. You can sprinkle them on yogurt, blend them into smoothies, or mix them with water to create chia seed pudding. Their ability to absorb liquid make them a perfect thickening agent in recipes.
Flaxseeds: A Boost for Your Heart and Hormones
Flaxseeds have been cultivated for thousands of years and were prized by ancient civilizations for their healthpromoting properties. Today, these seeds are known for their ability to support heart health and balance hormones, particularly for women.
Benefits:
Heart Health: Flaxseeds are one of the richest plant-based sources of omega-3 fatty acids, particularly ALA. These fats help lower LDL (“bad”) cholesterol levels and reduce inflammation, both of which are key to protecting heart health.
Hormonal Balance: Flaxseeds are also rich in lignans, plant compounds that can mimic estrogen in the body. Lignans may help balance hormone levels and reduce symptoms associated with menopause. Some research even suggests that they may help lower the risk of hormone-related cancers, such as breast cancer.
Digestive Support: The combination of soluble and insoluble fiber in flax seeds helps improve digestion, support regular bowel movements, and can support healthy blood sugar.
How to use them: Flaxseeds are best consumed ground, as whole seeds are difficult for the body to break down. Add ground flax seeds to smoothies, sprinkle them on oatmeal, or mix them into baked goods like muffins or pancakes.
Hemp Seeds: Nature’s Perfect Protein
While hemp may be more commonly associated with CBD products, hemp seeds are an unsung hero of the plant. These soft, nutty seeds are one of the few plant-based
sources of complete protein, containing all nine essential amino acids that the body cannot produce on its own.
Benefits:
Complete Protein Source: With around 10 grams of protein per 3 tablespoons, hemp seeds are an excellent protein source for vegetarians, vegans, and anyone looking to reduce their meat consumption. The amino acids found in hemp seeds support muscle growth and repair, making them perfect for post-workout nutrition.
Omega Fatty Acids: Hemp seeds contain both omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids in an ideal ratio. These healthy fats are essential for reducing inflammation, supporting heart health, and promoting brain function.
Boosts Energy: Hemp seeds provide a perfect blend of protein, healthy fats, and fiber, which work together to stabilize blood sugar levels and provide sustained energy throughout the day.
How to use them: Hemp seeds can be sprinkled over salads, added to smoothies, or blended into sauces and dressings. They have a mild, nutty flavor that pairs well with both sweet and savory dishes.
Pumpkin Seeds: Nutrient Powerhouses for Immune Support
Pumpkin seeds, also known as pepitas, are much more than just a seasonal snack. These seeds are loaded with important nutrients like magnesium, zinc, and antioxidants, making them a fantastic food for supporting overall health.
Benefits:
High in Magnesium: Pumpkin seeds are one of the best plant-based sources of magnesium, a mineral that plays a key role in over 300 biochemical reactions in the body. Magnesium helps regulate blood pressure, supports healthy bones, and improves sleep quality.
Zinc-Rich: Zinc is essential for immune function, and pumpkin seeds are an excellent way to boost your intake. Adequate

zinc levels help the body fight off infections and promote healing.
Antioxidant Power: Pumpkin seeds are packed with antioxidants like vitamin E and carotenoids, which help protect your cells from oxidative damage and reduce inflammation in the body.
How to use them: You can enjoy pumpkin seeds as a crunchy snack, sprinkle them over soups and salads, or incorporate them into homemade granola. They’re also a delicious addition to roasted vegetable dishes or pesto.
Sunflower Seeds: A Nutrient-Dense Snack
Sunflower seeds are not only a popular snack but also a potent source of essential nutrients. These seeds are rich in vitamin E, healthy fats, and minerals like magnesium and selenium, all of which contribute to better health and longevity.
Benefits:
High in Vitamin E: Sunflower seeds are one of the best natural sources of vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant that protects your cells from damage caused by free radicals. Vitamin E also supports skin health and helps reduce inflammation in the body.
Rich in Healthy Fats: The monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats found in sunflower seeds help improve cholesterol levels, reduce the risk of heart disease, and promote overall cardiovascular health.
Magnesium and Selenium: These minerals are essential for muscle and nerve function, and they also play a role in protecting the body from oxidative stress. Selenium, in particular, supports thyroid health and immune function.
How to use them: Sunflower seeds are a versatile addition to your diet. You can eat them as a snack, toss them into salads, or add them to homemade energy bars. They also make a tasty topping for oatmeal or yogurt bowls.
Incorporating superfood seeds into your diet is a simple yet powerful way to elevate your overall health and wellness. Though small in size, these seeds pack a nutritional punch that can transform your wellbeing from the inside out. By sprinkling them on your meals or blending them into smoothies, you're introducing a rich source of vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats that support your body’s natural functions. These tiny seeds can make a big difference, helping you feel energized, balanced, and fueled for whatever life throws your way.
Protecting Your Health and Wellness After an Injury
Why Hiring a Lawyer is Essential for Your Full Recovery
When an accident occurs – whether it’s a car crash, slip-andfall, or workplace incident – it’s natural to focus on the physical injuries first. After all, broken bones, cuts, or sprains are visible and demand immediate medical attention. But alongside the physical pain, there is often another layer of suffering that’s less visible: psychological trauma. As a personal injury attorney in Las Vegas, I work with clients who face both physical and mental challenges following an accident.
Recovering from an injury is hard enough without the added stress of dealing with insurance companies, medical bills, and legal processes. When you’re injured, your only focus should be on healing – both physically and emotionally. However, navigating the complexities of a personal injury case can quickly become overwhelming too quickly, especially when you’re already dealing with pain and anxiety. This is where a personal injury lawyer becomes an essential guide and advocate. With legal support, you can concentrate on your recovery while your lawyer manages the intricate details of your case, working to secure the compensation you need for a full recovery.
The Unseen Burden of Psychological Trauma
After an accident, a lot of people find themselves dealing with lasting psychological effects, like anxiety, depression or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). For instance, after a car accident, a person may experience anxiety or even panic attacks in the car or when just thinking about driving again. This emotional strain can have a huge impact on their ability to work, connect with loved ones and even manage day-to-day activities.
Mental health struggles are often underestimated in personal injury cases, but I’ve seen firsthand that they’re very real. As a personal injury lawyer, I make it a priority to address this invisible burden. It’s my job to help clients get the resources they need for emotional healing alongside their physical recovery. This often means working with a team of medical and mental health professionals who understand the psychological impact of trauma.
How a Personal Injury Lawyer Supports Mental Health Recovery
You might not immediately think of a lawyer as someone who supports mental health, but a personal injury attorney plays a key role in helping clients access mental health services. Here’s how my firm compassionately approach mental health recovery with my clients:
Connecting Clients with Mental Health Professionals: After an accident, some people may feel reluctant to seek therapy or counseling. They might not realize they need it, or they may feel
embarrassed to admit they’re struggling. As part of my work, I connect clients with mental health professionals who specialize in trauma. Therapy, counseling and sometimes medication can be essential in addressing common symptoms like anxiety, nightmares, and flashbacks.
Including Mental Health Care in the Claim: Therapy, counseling sessions, and mental health treatments can add up, but they’re a vital part of the healing process. I make sure these expenses are included when I’m building a case. This way, clients aren’t forced to choose between their physical and emotional recovery. They deserve to have their mental health care covered as part of their overall compensation.
Providing Support Through the Legal Process: Dealing with the legal side of a personal injury case can be overwhelming, especially when someone is already feeling vulnerable. Part of my role is to guide clients through the process, offering reassurance and explaining each step along the way. With a trusted advocate, clients can focus on their well-being rather than worrying about complex legal details.
The Journey to Physical Recovery
Physical recovery can involve a variety of treatments, depending on the type and extent of the injury. For some, it may mean surgery and rehabilitation. For others, it may require ongoing physical therapy and follow-up appointments. Personal injury lawyers play an essential role in ensuring clients have access to these treatments without financial stress.
Coordinating with Medical Providers: When an injury requires ongoing medical care, I work closely with my client’s healthcare providers to understand their needs. By gathering documentation from doctors, physical therapists, and specialists, I’m able to present a complete picture of the injury’s impact on their life. This allows me to advocate for compensation that covers all necessary treatments.
Securing Compensation for Medical Bills: Medical expenses can pile up quickly, especially when multiple treatments or long-term care are required. Many people worry about how they’ll cover these costs, which can distract from their healing. As a personal injury attorney, I negotiate with insurance companies to secure the compensation clients need for doctor visits, surgeries, medications and physical therapy. This financial support allows clients to access the best possible care.
Advocating for Future Care Needs: Some injuries have long-term consequences that require ongoing treatment, like assistive devices, home modifications, or future surgeries. I work to ensure
that compensation accounts for these future needs, so clients can move forward with confidence and focus on recovery rather than financial uncertainty.
What a Full Recovery Journey Looks Like
When you have a lawyer by your side, the road to recovery becomes much smoother. You have someone to handle the legal complexities while you focus on rebuilding your life. Here’s a glimpse of what the recovery process might look like:
1. Initial Consultation
In the beginning, I sit down with clients to understand their story. I ask about the accident, their injuries, and how it’s affected their life. By discussing both physical and emotional challenges, we can start building a strategy that addresses the entire scope of their recovery.
2. Building the Case
Next, I gather evidence, which includes medical records, bills and any documentation of mental health treatments. This allows me to present a strong case to the insurance companies or, if necessary, in court. It’s all about making sure my clients are fully compensated for their injuries—body and mind.
3. Negotiating the Settlement
Negotiating with insurance companies can be daunting, but it’s a crucial step. I advocate for my clients, pushing for a settlement that covers their medical expenses, mental health treatments, lost wages and even future needs. I handle the back-and-forth so clients can focus on what matters: their health.
4. Supporting Long-Term Healing
My support doesn’t end when the case is resolved. For clients with long-term care needs, I help them connect with resources that aid in their ongoing recovery. Some clients require additional surgeries or continued therapy and I make sure they have the financial resources to access these services.
Why Legal
Representation Is Key to Total Wellness
When clients hire a lawyer, they’re investing in their full recovery. Personal injury attorneys understand that healing isn’t just physical—it’s emotional, too. By addressing both aspects, we provide a holistic approach to recovery that allows clients to move forward without the added stress of medical bills, paperwork or negotiations.

The Road to Wellness

When clients come to me, I’m not just fighting for financial compensation—I’m advocating for their right to a complete recovery. I believe everyone deserves the resources and support to rebuild their lives, which is why having an attorney can make all the difference. What’s the Tea on Thyme?
So you want the tea on time… time is actually an illusion, there are many published theories on the nature of reality, however the one truth is that all we have is now. The past is but a memory, the future is your imagination, however the one place you hold power to influence either (past or future) is NOW. So that’s the tea on time! Now THYME, on this beautiful earthly plane, is a physical plant that serves in flavor and benefits.
Thyme, a perennial evergreen (strong year around) is actually a member of the mint family (Lamiaceae) and an aromatic herb indigenous to Northern Africa, Southern Europe and parts of Asia. It is scientifically known as Thymus Vulgaris and is used heavily in culinary, as well as medicinal, and ornamental function. In the kitchen, thyme is such a versatile herb to integrate into all types of dishes and include in classic spice blends and amazing for all seasons such as the fresh herbs de Provence blend, Italian seasoning, the Middle Eastern za’atar, and a whole range of Caribbean dishes. The bursting flavors are another layer of benefit as they are also bursting with phyto compounds and a multitude of uses.
PROPERTIES OF THYME
Thyme is rich thymol which is a terpene that can be used as essential oil, it’s listed in some of the most famous mouthwashes for its
antiseptic and antimicrobial properties. Thyme has been used for upper respiratory support for hundreds of years, and now studies have backed this age-old remedy. It’s been suggested to ease symptoms of bronchial asthma, work antispasmodic and tone the respiratory system. Thyme is high in flavonoids which increase the antioxidant ability. Antioxidants such as Rosmarinic acid which can help reduce inflammation, and carnosic acid has been studied on its properties that support brain health through neuroprotection and is considered to support renewal of the mitochondria. It’s shown to support memory and protect cells. Another terpene found in the plant thyme is linalool which contributes to the strong aroma and calming effects.
CHEST & THYMUS GLAND
The Thymus is a lymphatic gland that sits behind our breast plate and the lungs and is an organ responsible for the maturing of T cells, which are white blood cells responsible for fighting infections and diseases. This thymus is believed to be named due to its resemblance to the thyme leaf, which is essential for the immune system. The Greeks believed that this organ was the house of the “soul”. It also has the ability to suppress the effects of aging and support learning and memory abilities. Supporting the thymus with herbs such as thyme support your system overall.
THYME FOR TEA
As an herbal tea lover, I can count on thyme as a refreshing invigorator where I know that I am getting a powerful and comprehensive boost. You can brew tea utilizing fresh thyme which is harvested and sold in sprigs (stems that are snipped from the main stalk of the plant). Kept dried and chilled, the fresh snipping can last for about a week- always be mindful to not allow your fresh herbs to mold! However, thyme is freezer-friendly, making
it a great way to maximize use of them. If you prefer dried thyme, you can almost always find it in the grocery store (or my small business High Tech Healing has a delicious new blend with thyme in it) Steeping it as a tea is a wonderful way to release the benefits from the dried herbs which make it much easier to preserve its compounds.
MULTIPURPOSE HERB
Thyme is such a classic and multiuse herb that would be ideally grown in most of our gardens (alongside its family, rosemary and mint, which grow wonderfully in Las Vegas). Its benefits for our bodies are immense. Also used in our environment, another large scale use of thyme is for a natural pesticide to protect plants from pests. It is effective against bacteria and fungi. It’s also great for food preservation, and it’s even been studied to protect against food borne illnesses such as salmonella.
Thyme has a history as rich as its benefits and uses. Ancient civilizations such as the Egyptians and Greeks used it for incense and embalming practices. In medieval Europe, thyme was used under pillows to ward off nightmares and increase sleep quality. All while modern day sciences show it’s impact on the nervous system, the aromatherapeutic benefits of the terpenes (which are basically plant aromas that have benefits to our bodies just through the olfactory- smelling). Thyme can be used as a hair oil to stimulate hair growth, digestive health to reduce bloating and gas, it’s GREAT FOR COUGHS, and as previously mentioned, cognitive function.
I am having such a blast sharing the benefits of so many historically revered and utilized herbs for this modern day application. Please feel free to find me around town, and let’s chat to discuss more, www.hightechhealing.org.
A SLAVE TO MY STUFF The True Cost of Clutter
I always thought I was the one in control. I mean, I do the work. I make the money. I choose to fill my house with the things I love. I decide what comes in and where it goes. I am the designer and curator of my immediate environment, and what could be more “in control” than that?
But recently, I came to the realization that all the stuff I thought I controlled was actually controlling me. And it wasn’t just about the dollars I was dishing out, although let’s be real, those add up fast. It was the all time and energy I never thought to calculate. How many hours of my life did I have to work to buy that dress I only wear once a year? How much time did I waste moving every mess pile from one area of the house to another? Half the time, I’d buy something simply because I couldn’t remember if I’d already bought it. And when you’re running out of space to store your tenth can of tomato sauce, it’s kind of hard to deny there’s an issue.
The true breaking point came when I looked around and noticed my house had become more of a storage space than a home. And don’t even get me started on my garage. It was a black hole, swallowing up things I forgot I even owned. My pantry and cabinets were in disarray, and I could never seem to find the right USB power cord, spare batteries or Tupperware lid. I couldn’t even work at my desk, which was filled with useless gadgets and unread books that seemed like a great idea at the time.
You know how it goes. It starts with just a couple of items, and then you find yourself cleaning around stuff you didn’t even really want to begin with, and inevitably maintaining things that don’t add value to your life. I felt like I was drowning in my own possessions. Not only was I physically tired from cleaning, I was mentally exhausted from living in the mess. And that’s when I snapped.
I rented a driveway-safe dumpster that didn’t require HOA approval, called 2 of my friends over, and went on a whirlwind cleaning rampage. If I hadn’t touched it in a while, I didn’t care what kind of “just in case” or “but someday” excuses I had for it, in the dumpster or donation bag it went. My friends were instructed not to show me anything and make a judgment call of their own. If I can’t see it, I don’t know it’s not there anymore, and if I couldn’t account for it, I certainly wasn’t using it. When we were done, nearly half of my things were gone.
The feeling after they towed the dumpster away was pure lightness. The tension, the energy it took to manage items that brought me little joy, the feeling of being submerged in a sea of stuff- it was all gone. I breathed deeper than I have in a long, long time. The house felt more like a home, and I felt more like myself.
Letting go of things is transactional in its own way. In exchange for a large chunk of my stuff, I received something far
more valuable: a clearer mind, movement in energy, and a sense of flow throughout my home. It wasn’t just about decluttering. It was about the time and mental bandwidth I reclaimed by not having to think about the mess. No more wondering where things were, no more guilt over projects I never finished, and no more “I’ll eventually get to cleaning that” plaguing my brain.
Most importantly, it was about releasing the stuck, stagnant energy that had been weighing me down. When stuff sits untouched, it holds energy in place, and that stagnation creeps into other parts of my life, making me feel stuck emotionally, creatively, and even physically. Every item I let go opened a new channel for fresh energy to move through me. In essence, I was liberating myself from what no longer served me to make space for the things that do.
More Than Just A Mess - It’s a Mind-F*ck
Now, don’t get me wrong. This isn’t about becoming a minimalist or trying to live out of a suitcase, though I get why minimalism became so popular. There is an appeal to the discipline it requires, and something satisfying about the idea of only owning the essentials. (We’ll get more into discipline in a future column). But, minimalism never really vibed with me. That’s probably because joy, for me, comes in the form of having choices and variety. If you’re anything like me, then the focus isn’t about owning as little as possible; it’s about owning intentionally. When you don’t own intentionally, the balance is off, and the time, energy, and mental load that clutter takes becomes far more devastating than we often realize.
In fact, did you know that clutter is a nationwide epidemic? According to a survey by Mercari¹, 50% of Americans report feeling overwhelmed by the sheer amount of stuff in their homes. The average household has 42 items that are no longer in use, which adds up to over 5.3 billion unused items across the U.S.
Research also shows clutter affects more than just our wallets; it takes a serious toll on our brains too. A 2011 study² using fMRI technology revealed that clearing clutter from our environment boosts focus and productivity, while disorganization and clutter have a cumulative negative impact on our cognitive resources. Yep. Those constant visual reminders of chaos drain our ability to concentrate, leaving us less able to process information³. In fact, clutter can trigger certain avoidance behaviors like mindlessly snacking or binge-watching TV shows⁴. The mental load of clutter isn’t something we can just ignore anymore. It's sapping our energy, reducing our working memory, and keeping us from living optimally.
"I hear it all the time,” says Kenny of Roll’N Dumpsters, a family owned small business in Las Vegas. (This is not a sponsored post, I paid full price for my dumpster rent-
al.) “People feel like a huge weight has been lifted after a big purge. Once the junk is gone, it’s like they can finally breathe again. And it’s not just about the stuff. It’s about the space they get back in their heads and in their lives.”
A Practical Guide to Purging
Let’s say you’ve decided to do the work and want to throw a full-on purgeathon. Here are some tips:
Start with the Right Mindset
Before you touch anything, work on getting in the right headspace.
Hack Your Algorithm: If you consume social media, you can start by shifting your algorithm. Spend some time following decluttering and minimalism content to get inspired and envision your goal more vividly.
Make a Decision: Decide, not on what you want to do, but how you want to live. What values do you want to embody? Redefine your identity and align your actions with that. Who are you now? And more importantly, who you are no longer? This shift makes it easier to let go of items that no longer fit into the life you want to create.
Accept that it’s Okay to Throw it Away: As a first generation immigrant, this was the hardest one for me. My parents are extremely frugal. In fact, they still reuse tin foil, clip coupons from the Sunday paper and cut up old T-shirts to repurpose as cleaning rags. When I began my own cleaning process, I kept thinking, “If someone found the right missing part, this could still be useful!” That thought process kept dragging on and on, and at that pace, it would take me six weeks to go through my possessions.
So, when in doubt:
• Donate things that have all parts included.
• Toss what’s not complete. That $15.99 steamer is going to eat up three hours of your time while you search for the missing lid, plus the real estate it takes up in your cabinet. It’s not worth it.
Gather Your Supplies
Having the right tools on hand makes the purge process go a lot smoother:
• 4-ml Contractor Bags: Trust us: thin bags will rip. Get thick, durable bags that can handle heavy loads.
• Large Moving Boxes: Use these for bulkier items that don’t fit in bags.
• Two Colored Zip-Ties: Assign one color for donation bags and another for trash to avoid confusion.
• Packing Tape and Permanent Markers: Label the boxes you’re keeping clearly to stay organized throughout the process.
• Dumpster Rental: If you’re purging a lot, consider renting a driv way-safe mini dumpster for a few days. Many services will handle both delivery and haul-away.
• Shredder: Use a shredder for sensitive documents like credit card bills to protect against identity theft.
Purge Like a Pro
It’s time to dive in. Be ruthless, and don’t overthink it. Here’s how to make it easier:
• Stick to the 6-Month Rule: If you haven’t used or touched it in the past six months, it’s probably not worth keeping.
• Make Fast Decisions: Don’t spend more than 10 seconds deciding
whether to keep or toss an item. Trust your gut.
• Eliminate “Just in Case” Thinking: If your only reason for keeping something is “one day it might be useful,” let it go. Can you borrow it if the need arises? Or, if it costs less than $25, could you buy it again later, if necessary?
Reclaiming Your Space & Your Sanity (For Good!)
How do you keep from having it all just pile up again? For me, I had to rethink how I shop. My biggest tip? If you’re going out to buy something specific, don’t even grab a shopping cart. You’ll be less tempted to fill it with things you don’t need. Be intentional with your choices, and ask yourself one question before each purchase: will this thing own me, or will I own it?
Here are some other tips to keep the clutter at bay:
• One In, Two Out Rule: For every new item you bring into your home, let go of two other things. This rule keeps your space balanced and pr vents clutter from slowly creeping back into your life.
• Create Clear Boundaries for Your Space: Designate specific areas for your belongings, and stick to them. If your stuff starts to overflow within those boundaries, you’ll know it’s time to reassess and purge again.
• Have Regular Purge Sessions: I used to wait until the mess became u bearable. Don’t be like me. Schedule a quick monthly or quarterly declutter session. Even 10-15 minutes can keep things in check and prevent stuff from piling up.
• Mind the Multiples: Be mindful of buying multiples of things. Before pu chasing, check to see if you already own something similar.
• Be Wary of Sales Psychology: Stores aren’t designed to save you mo ey—they're designed to make you spend more. Deals like “Buy 2, Get 1 Free” aren’t always in your best interest. That third item wasn’t free; it just increased your total spending by $29. Instead of letting sales dictate your purchases, shop with intention and ask yourself if the item truly aligns with your needs and values.
• Rethink Bulk Buying: Likewise, it might feel like buying in bulk is a mo ey-saving hack, but sometimes, it’s anything but. Shoppers at warehouse stores like Costco often fall into the “mind-trap” of thinking they’re saving, only to waste money on items they never finish. Bulk buys, especially for perishables or trendy snacks, often end up in the trash when tastes change or food spoils before it can be used. Trying to take advantage of a “good deal” can lead you to buy more than you need, and chances are you’ll end up cluttering your pantry with giant jars and half-eaten bags of niche snacks.
When we’re not careful, the tail starts to wag the dog, and we end up just along for the ride. Personally, I’m excited to be able to say I’m back in control. I know what I have, I know what I need, and my stuff serves me—not the other way around.
May you also be in control of what you own.

NOVEMBER HOROSCOPES
ARIES (MARCH 19-APRIL 19)
Aries (March 19 – April 19)
November will be challenging but rewarding. Expect workplace disagreements where you'll need to stand your ground. Someone close may try to betray you, but your heightened intuition will help you discern true allies. This month is perfect for learning and study, as your mind will be especially sharp. You'll focus on finances, seeking ways to increase income and savings. Be cautious about hasty financial decisions and consult trusted advisors. Your determination is strong, helping you tackle long postponed projects with renewed energy. Be mindful of your pace! Not everyone can keep up with your drive. Avoid letting jealousy or possessiveness create unnecessary tension in relationships. Instead, channel that energy into productive conversations. Remember to balance your ambitions with self care, especially mid month when you are prone to stress related fatigue.
TAURUS (APRIL 19-MAY 20)
November brings you a lot of motivation to change. Your creativity will flow, making it an ideal time for small home improvement projects, but avoid major renovations requiring intense focus. You might feel an urge to escape responsibilities or dramatically alter your lifestyle. Carefully weigh the impacts of any big decisions, considering how they might affect those around you. The Full Moon in your sign on the 15th will influence you strongly. Prioritize relaxation and avoid overexertion during this time. Your practical nature will shine in financial matters, but don't skimp on quality experiences or educational pursuits. This is a great time to start holiday preparations, helping you avoid last minute stress. Pay attention to your physical well being, especially as the seasons change. Balance your desire for change with a steady, measured approach.
GEMINI
(MAY 20-JUNE 20)
Your social calendar is buzzing and your charm is irresistible, helping you form new and potentially valuable connections. Choose your words carefully as they'll carry extra weight this month. You are in great shape, so don't hesitate to try challenging activities, but boost your immunity to counter the dreary weather. Start your holiday preparations early to avoid stress. You'll be financially savvy, which will serve you well. Don't skimp on quality food or educational opportunities. These investments in yourself will pay off. Your ability to multitask is impressive, allowing you to juggle various projects and social commitments with ease. This is an excellent time for networking and collaborative efforts. Just be sure to carve out some quiet time for yourself amidst the social whirlwind to recharge and reflect.
CANCER (JUNE 20-JULY

By Margaux Hansberry
so don't be afraid to embark on something you've been putting off for a long time. You will manage twice as much as normal, and not even feel tired. Be cautious of sleep deficiency. Even if you don't feel tired, you still need rest. Your partner may struggle to match your pace this month. Avoid letting jealousy or possessiveness create unnecessary conflicts in your relationships. Instead, channel that energy into open, honest communication. You might feel a strong urge to nurture and care for others, but remember to also take care of yourself.
LEO (JULY 22-AUGUST
22)
Heads up, this month may bring a melancholy mood and you could feel tired and introspective. Take this opportunity to recharge and plan for the future without feeling pressured to perform. Your creativity might take a backseat to deeper, more philosophical thoughts. Use this time for self reflection and personal growth. Avoid making major career changes or commitments and instead, focus on refining your long term goals. Your usual charisma might be subdued, but this allows for more genuine, intimate connections with close friends and family. It's an excellent time for journaling, meditation, or exploring new spiritual practices. Don't worry, this introspective period will ultimately lead to personal insights and renewed energy. By month's end, you'll feel refreshed and ready to tackle new challenges with your signature Leo flair.
VIRGO (AUG 22-SEPT 22)
November awakens your communication skills pushing you to use your voice more than usual. You will become the center of attention. All your friends will be happy to listen to your opinions and stories, and you will gain admiration from many people. You might find yourself in a mentoring role, guiding others with your practical wisdom. Don't be surprised if you're asked to lead a project or take on more responsibilities at work. Your ability to comfort your loved ones with just words will be incredible.
LIBRA (SEP 22-OCT 22)
Enjoy a strong sense of justice and personal influence this month. You'll excel at handling delicate situations with a cool head, earning respect from colleagues and superiors. In your love life, honesty will strengthen your relationships, though be mindful of your words to avoid unintentional hurt. Mercury's influence will bring you a sense of calm and your patience at work is rewarded until it stations retrograde on the 25th. Expect some surprising and positive developments from your boss. This is a great time for negotiations, whether in business or personal matters. Your diplomatic skills will be in high demand, so don't be surprised if friends and family seek your advice on conflicts. Balance is key this month. While you're helping others, make sure to set aside time for your own needs and interests.
SCORPIO (OCT 22- NOV 21)
It's your season and your intellectual side is in full force! You crave knowledge and excel in areas requiring mental acuity. Your memory will be particularly sharp, making it an ideal time to tackle challenging studies or learn new skills. While physical activities may take a backseat, your way with words is impressive. You might find yourself drawn to deeper, more complex topics, perhaps exploring philosophy, psychology, or metaphysical subjects. This is an excellent time for research, writing, or any project that requires intense focus and analysis. Your intuition is heightened, allowing you to see beyond surface appearances in both personal and professional situations. Be mindful of your tendency to overthink things.
SAGITTARIUS (NOV 21-DEC
21)
With Mercury entering your sign on the 2nd, you'll feel an urge to express your ideas and philosophies. However, be cautious as Mercury turns retrograde in your sign on the 25th. This could lead to misunderstandings or delays in your plans. Use this time to revisit old ideas and refine your thoughts. The Sun enters your sign on the 21st, bringing renewed energy and focus to your personal goals. The New Moon in your sign on the 30th offers a fresh start - set intentions for the coming year, but be prepared to revise them as Mercury's retrograde continues. Pay attention to your intuition and treat yourself when you feel it. Understanding is what you need the most and you will find it in your friends and family.
CAPRICORN (DEC 21-JAN 20)
This month is pure bliss for you. You are feeling very creative, and may feel a need to experiment in many aspects of your life. The positions of planets are calling for you to stop overthinking and do what you feel like doing at a given moment. November brings a focus on your social connections and long term aspirations. Venus enters your sign on the 11th, enhancing your charm and attractiveness. This is an excellent time to network and strengthen professional relationships. You may find yourself drawn to more serious, enduring connections. Saturn's direct station on the 15th in Pisces will bring clarity to your communication sector. As the month progresses, you may feel a pull between your public and private life. Use this time to balance your ambitions with your need for personal reflection and rest.
AQUARIUS (JAN 20-FEB 18)
Your mind is racing and you may get into a bubble of overthinking that will be hard for you to get out of. Do not let yourself be down because of it. Just try to make your brain focus on something else. Sharing with your friends could help but do not merge into your problems too much, rather focus
on the fact that you have such amazing people around you. The influence of Saturn will manifest strongly. Saturn's direct motion in Pisces from the 15th onwards will help stabilize you. You might receive recognition for your unique ideas and innovative approaches that are delivered in your whirlwind of thoughts. Stay open to unconventional opportunities that align with your long term vision.
PISCES (FEB 18-MAR 19)
Thanks to your empathy and kindness you can help anyone who will need it, and that will warm your heart. It's best to focus on the people close to you. A smile on the faces of your relatives will be key for you this month. You will be in an ideal mood to rebuild relationships, and you would all love to remember the old days. Embarrassing situations won’t get you down, and you won't even mind the troublesome people. Saturn's direct station in your sign on the 15th marks a turning point in your personal development. You may feel a renewed sense of purpose and direction. The New Moon in Sagittarius on the 30th opens up new possibilities in your career sector. Trust your intuition but also be practical in your approach. This is a time to dream big while also laying solid foundations for your future.

Dear Sarah,
I recently started a new workout routine, and while I’m loving the results, my body is so sore, especially in my legs and lower back. I stretch and cool down after every session, but the soreness seems to stick around for days. What can I do to help speed up recovery? I’d love your advice!
Megan
Megan
Hi Megan,
First off, kudos to you for starting your workout routine! That post-workout soreness can be frustrating when it lingers, and I am happy to recommend some things that may help your body recover faster and feel better in the process.
Firstly, hydration and nutrition are key. Make sure you’re replenishing those hard working muscles with electrolytes like potassium and magnesium (coconut water, bananas, spinach, and almonds are your friends here). Protein is also essential for muscle repair, so be sure you’re getting enough after your workouts.
Additionally, CBD topicals and tinctures are great for reducing inflammation and helping speed up recovery. Tinctures are ideal for daily maintenance, while topicals can apply direct relief. And lastly, try soaking in a warm Epsom salt bath to soothe your aching muscles and help speed up the recovery time. I hope this helps you find relief.
Dear Sarah,
With winter coming, my skin is already getting dry and flaky, no matter how much moisturizer I use. Are there any
natural ways to keep my skin hydrated during the colder months? I’m tired of constantly slathering on lotion!
Hi Jade,
Ah, winter—the season of cozy sweaters, hot drinks, and… dry, flaky skin! You’re not alone in this struggle, but luckily, there are natural ways to keep your skin happy and hydrated. Hydration is key to making your skin happy during the cold months. Make sure you’re drinking plenty of water and loading up on hydrating foods like cucumbers, oranges, and avocados. Healthy fats are also your skin’s best friend during the colder months—flaxseeds, chia seeds, and walnuts can help your skin lock in moisture and keep that glow going strong. Externally, instead of just relying on regular moisturizers, try using natural oils like coconut or jojoba oil, or even CBD moisturizers. They’re great for locking in moisture without the chemicals, and they mimic your skin’s natural oils for deep hydration. Adding a humidifier to your space can also make a world of difference by keeping the air (and your skin) from drying out. I hope this helps you this winter.
Dear Sarah,
I’ve been trying to cut back on sugar but have the worst sweet tooth! What are some healthy alternatives to satisfy my cravings without derailing my progress?
Thanks, Emily
Hi Emily,
I hear you—I did the same thing earlier this year and it can be difficult, but we got this. The good
news is, we can absolutely satisfy our sweet tooth in a healthier way and I have found some options that may be able to help you out. First, try incorporating natural sweeteners like honey or maple syrup in moderation. They still give you that sweet taste but come with nutrients that refined sugar lacks. You can also satisfy your cravings with fruit! Berries, apples, and dates are naturally sweet and loaded with fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants. For a richer treat, try dark chocolate with at least 70% cocoa. It’s lower in sugar and full of antioxidants. I also highly recommend using the internet to your advantage. Look up refined sugar free dessert recipes and discover the world of guilt free sweets. You may be amazed at what you can find. Since cutting sugary foods, I have made homemade carrot cakes, muffins, and more sweet treats, all without harmful sugars. One simple treat to make is granola bars or energy bites with ingredients like oats, almond butter, seeds, dried fruits, and a touch of natural sweetener that can curb cravings while giving your body a nutritious boost. I hope this helps you find options to satisfy your cravings.

SHANE TERRY >>> Veteran & Cannabis Advocate
Anyone who’s measuring the progressive success of cannabis reform and the subsequent billion-dollar industry that has arisen partially from that steadfast advocacy for reform must always recognize the power of veterans in those successes. From all branches and nearly all ranks of the United States Armed Forces, our brave veterans have become a strong and obviously very persuasive battalion in the continued fight for cannabis reform of all types, especially on the medical expansion side. Their captivating and oftentimes quite harrowing stories of both serving in the military and the litany of physical and mental health problems they face, are able to appeal to even some of the most anti-cannabis representatives who still backhandedly claim that they “support the troops”.
Despite the disadvantageous fact that physicians employed by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs are federally prohibited from officially prescribing or discussing cannabis with their patients, those same veterans are making themselves known and assisting to accomplish widely sweeping local and state-level cannabis reform measures as a result. Although there’s no definite time frame of the supposed federal rescheduling of cannabis other than “after the presidential election”, it’s a safe assumption that veteran advocacy groups were undoubtedly instrumental in the decision to reschedule.
One such veteran-turned cannabis advocate and astute businessman who’s used his platform as the CEO and Co-Founder of the massively successful TapRoot Brands to advocate for continuously expanding cannabis reform is Shane Terry.
“We named it that because the taproot is the first root that sprouts from a seed. It becomes the anchor root from which all the rest of the root system branches out from.” Terry explained. “And that’s what we wanted to represent – the grounding presence that would build a community of connected roots.”
Interestingly, he served in one of the most heart-pounding and dangerous aerial units in the Air Force, and the division of the Air Force that became arguably the most famous division due to a decade-defining Tom Cruise film from 1986 with the most 80’s-tastic soundtrack imaginable.
Luckily for Terry, he felt the need, the need for speed. “I was an F-16 fighter pilot, which was a bit of a bait and switch after watching Top Gun when I was a kid. No motorcycles, no beach volleyball, girls don’t care to hear about jets and for every hour of flying, there’s about 12 hours of planning, briefing and debriefing!” he humorously recounted. “I loved what I did in the military and especially the F-16. I was lucky enough to be stationed in Korea so we flew all over Asia, did about 3 years in Italy, and then came back to Nellis Air Force Base here in Vegas. I also did tours in Iraq, Afghanistan and a few other places around the Middle East. I also had a pretty unique role in the F-16 and specialized in Close Air Support (CAS) and was one of the only Forward Air Controllers (FAC-A).”
While his time in the Air Force was certainly exciting and he received noteworthy accomplishments such as graduating number one in his class
By Josh Kasoff
at the Air Force Weapons School, Terry faced his own noticeable struggles when returning to civilian life.
“Honestly my biggest struggle was just letting go a bit and understanding the rest of the civilian world doesn’t always move at a combat pace. There’s a brotherhood and sisterhood in the military that just holds a unique place in soul that can’t be replaced with anything else. I guess that’s what comes with the territory when you literally trust the person next to you with your life every day. And that also creates a sense of selfresponsibility because if I’m not on my game, or I’m not able to do exactly what’s required of me at any given time in the military, then I’m putting someone else’s life at risk. Of course we never took that responsibility lightly. But thankfully we don’t have to live on that same edge in the civilian world, although I’ll admit there are definitely times where I feel like I’m in a battle in this industry.”
Terry first became interested in working in cannabis before medical dispensaries were even open in Nevada, however the plant itself and being gainfully employed in the eventual Nevada cannabis industry symbolized far more than just a simple paycheck to Terry.
“To me cannabis represented the change that I wanted to see in our society.” he described. “Plant medicines have been an incredible source for me to process some of the things of my past, and of course cannabis is part of that family. I always joke that cannabis IS a gateway drug, but not with the negative connotations that you typically hear. Cannabis opened the door for our society to have a relationship with plant medicines without having to lurk in the shadows.
The conversations back in 2014 represented not only political and drug reform, but a social movement, a culture, an art. It represented our win against prohibition, and freedom of expression. I also thought that cannabis would be such a strong economic platform that we could use that to influence and inspire change in our communities, and that cannabis companies could lead by example and show that there’s a different way to do business than what we typically see from the corporate giants.”
Since the company’s founding, the Roots brands has won some considerable awards, such as Las Vegas Weekly’s 2022 Best of Vegas awards for Best Vape and Best Extract. To their award-winning credit, the diversity of their produced cartridges range greatly, from their rich fullflavored hash oil Black Line to the crystal clear distillate White Line and the fittingly named full spectrum extract Earth Line. And quite like the most effectively elite squad of super soldiers, Terry admits that a successful cannabis business such as TapRoot requires a complex yet detailed and multi-faceted approach to their operations as well as employees dedicated to completing a successful mission.
“We have some exceptionally talented people in our lab that have dedicated their lives to learning how to get the plant to express herself in the most beautiful and delicate ways. We pride ourselves in focusing on
creating natural products without needing to adulterate or add things to it, the way the plant was supposed to be enjoyed. We also have an incredibly talented sales and marketing team that is able to create art through design and storytelling. Then of course we have people with exceptional attention to detail that takes all that magic, packages it up and makes sure it finds its way to the dispensary shelves so people can actually enjoy it.
Well, I guess similar to my military days of doing close air support. If I can provide the top cover to allow the rest of the team to make the real magic happen, then that’s a contribution I can be proud of.”
As for his fellow veterans, Terry strongly encourages them to use their voice and platform as honorable individuals who’ve valiantly served this country to speak with those stubborn yet crucial elected officials who remain skeptical about medicinal cannabis use.
“There’s also a sort of respect that’s given to veterans by people that tend to be more conservative with their socio-political views. Especially early on with legalization, I’d always find there would be a few elected officials that were surprised that someone with a military background would be involved in the industry. So I used my story and background to de-stigmatize cannabis to those that felt like they could relate more to me than to someone that’s been growing in Humboldt for the last few decades and just came down from the mountain. So in that sense, we all, vets especially, have an opportunity to be an ambassador for the plant and the movement that follows it.”

Unraveling The Strings & Unmasking The Mysteries of The Multiverse With Gibby Grey & Tarda The Mutant Water-Bear
By Shwa Laytart
I like to review books from virtually unknown authors that are writing about important, unusual, and thought-provoking topics. When deciding who to cover this month, I didn’t have to look far to find a virtually unknown writer whose book is not only important, unusual, and thought provoking, but also fun for the whole family. For the first time, I’m reviewing my second kids’ book, The Gray Areas Podcast with Gibby Grey and Tarda the Mutant Water-Bear.
The first kids’ book I wrote was called Oh, The A**holes You’ll Meet! - a satirical take on Dr. Suess’ Oh, The Places You’ll Go! I wrote my book for my daughter when she was graduating highschool. This time around I wrote a book for kids (from the ages of 9 to 90) about one of my favorite topics, Non-Human Intelligence. The two main characters are looking to unravel the strings and unmask the mysteries of the multiverse. It is an adventurous story that is not only playful and exciting but also conveys a positive message that inspires both the reader and the listener to explore the uniqueness that all universes have to offer.
Gibby Grey is the most common Non-Human Intelligence that humans are aware of: the gray alien. Tarda, the mutant water-bear, is the most uncommon being that most people are aware of, even though they are everywhere (if you look close enough). Based on the tardigrade, a microscopic eightlegged animal that can survive in extreme conditions, Tarda is a massive, mutant version of this tiny creature who communicates telepathically. These two main characters are the co-hosts of the Gray Areas Podcast. They discuss topics on their show, head over to the All-Mighty Library on Planet X to research the topics, then zip out in their anti-gravity vehicle, known as the Little Sparrow, to investigate questions from their subscribers pertaining to the unusual and unknown mysteries of the multiverse.
In this episode, Gibby and Tarda are investigating Aliengels. Aliengels are mysterious light beings that have been reported to show up around, and sometimes within, other beings. At the All-Mighty Library on Planet X they discover what other Non-Human Intelligent beings have to say about these luminescent entities. According to the Yewowwow Tribe, Aliengels are attracted to those Beings in the multiverse that create positive energy and good vibrations. The translations of ancient Gwargonian text say that Aliengels are attracted to imagination, creativity, inventiveness, poetry, and especially humor. The scrolls from the Beings of Xnuvy say Aliengels love to be around exuberant, exhilarating, inspirational, reassuring, and welcoming Beings. Whereas the videos from the Six Planets of Hovita say the best place to find Aliengels is among those Beings being the kindest, merciful, sympathetic, courteous, respectful, thoughtful and heartfelt Beings.
Gibby and Tarda go off in the Little Sparrow to seek out those Beings who might have more information on Aliengels and how to find them. First, they stop at planet Duh, then zip over to the Carnival on Morny, then visit the kind Beings of Hovita, and wrap up their investigation by visiting The Galactic
Wellness Space Station. Once they have all the information they need to conclude their research, Gibby and Tarda head home. But before they get back to planet Earth to wrap up the podcast, they never forget to stop by and see Granny Grey at The Shady Past Retirement Home on Mars.
Back in the Gray Areas Podcast room, Gibby and Tarda relay their discoveries to their podcast listeners, covering all the details and insights they have learned throughout their investigation. Even though they might not come back with all the answers, they always return with insights and inspiration to share.
Gibby Grey might be a little silly and consistently overlook the obvious, but thanks to Tarda’s sarcastic but insightful mind, the two constantly have knowledge to pass on. This massive 104-page book is illustrated by the out-of-this-world Las Vegas based artist, the mystical and magnificent Bluumangoo. Additionally, this colorful and spectacularly told tale is the first in a series of multiverse adventures Gibby Grey and Tarda the Mutant Water-Bear are zipping out to unravel and unmask. Whether or not you’re into Non-Human Intelligence or even kids’ books, I highly suggest you pick this book up for someone in your galaxy that is. You might even learn a little something about yourself while reading it. Take it from me, the author, this book is worth RAVING About!

Product Spotlight >>> The Bottle Blazer Instantly
Transforms Your Favorite Bottle
The holiday season is here, bringing with it the spirit of gift-giving, gathering with loved ones, and reflecting on the blessings of the past year. In line with these themes, Vegas Wellness Magazine had the pleasure of chatting with Josh Grant, co-creator of “The Bottle Blazer”. This unique product combines the perfect gift idea, a thriving startup, and a familydriven business, leading to new opportunities and continued success for Josh and his uncle James. Here is the story of how Josh’s uncle’s inventive idea turned into a must-have smoking accessory…
Jennifer Walker: Tell us a little bit about your product, The Bottle Blazer. Where did the idea come from, and how did the business get started? How has it been going so far?
Josh Grant: The Bottle Blazer was born out of a quirky idea from my Uncle, James Grant, back in October 2022. It all started with a collection of beer bottles he had from a local radio station. My Aunt eventually told him he needed to either do something with the bottles or toss them out. Initially, he considered making lamps or wind chimes, but then he wondered, "Could I turn these into a bong?" That curiosity sparked a creative journey. By Christmas 2022, he had a working prototype cast from brass metal.
When my wife and I saw it, we instantly recognized its consumer potential. While my uncle initially made a few as gifts, we soon began brainstorming how to turn this fun idea into a real business. That’s how The Bottle Blazer was born. We spent 4-5 months refining materials and designs, setting up the business, securing patents and trademarks, and preparing for retail. By November 2023, we launched our website, and The Bottle Blazer officially hit the market.
Since then, we’ve seen success online, through social media, viral videos, consumer festivals, and even with wholesale customers. The Bottle Blazer is proudly designed, manufactured, assembled, and shipped in Saint Charles, Missouri, by my uncle and me.
JW: The Bottle Blazer seems like a really innovative product. How does it work, and what are some of its unique features?
JG: The Bottle Blazer is a versatile and easy-to-use smoking accessory that fits into almost any bottle, instantly transforming it into a handheld smoking device. It’s perfect for home use, gatherings, travel, and outdoor activities. We crafted it from high-temp, food-grade silicone, paired with medical-grade stainless steel for durability.
Key design elements include a cool-touch bowl grip and a built-in carb, allowing users to control their hits easily with just a thumb. The product is simple, with no moving parts, and is easily disassembled for cleaning, storage, and travel. Currently, it’s available in six colors: Green, Red, Blue, Yellow, Black, and Pink.
Plant Medicine
JW: What challenges have you encountered as you launched your business, and what positive outcomes have arisen since introducing The Bottle Blazer?
JG: Like any new venture, our main challenge has been building awareness around a product most people haven’t seen before. Generating sales and getting the word out has been an ongoing effort. However, the consumer response has been incredibly positive. We’ve attended several consumer events and festivals where people praised The Bottle Blazer for its functionality and unique design. It’s a real conversation starter!
ByJennifer Walker
Most of our success has come from people who try it firsthand; they love how it works and how convenient it is. We’ve also sponsored local events, traveled outside our area to promote it, and been accepted to major b2b trade shows, including Champs Las Vegas 2023. It’s been humbling and exciting to receive such support and recognition.
JW: Do you have any other products on the horizon, or any special plans for The Bottle Blazer during the holidays and beyond?
JG: For now, we’re focused on The Bottle Blazer and ensuring it gains steady traction. Our goal is to use the momentum from its success to drive future product expansions. We are planning special holiday discounts and packages, which will be available on our website. Customers can subscribe to stay up-to-date on current and future deals.
JW: How can readers learn more about The Bottle Blazer and stay connected with your brand?

RSO (Rick Simpson Oil) is to be ingested regularly, but it can also be useful as a topical ointment or suppository. Dosage size is about the size of a grain of rice. Just put this essential oil where you need attention and kick-start your THC and other cannabinoid receptors. Nerolidol and THC are major cancer fighters. Discover wellness on a cellular level. It’s what the doctor ordered, or what your doctor should be ordering.

This product is for the seasoned cannabis connoisseur who needs a little more than a bowl full of ground up herbs. Daddirri starts with top grade flower, then rolls it in cannabis oil, then coats it with a blanket of trichomes (also known as kief). It’s a beautiful specimen just to look at and admire, but take it from Wild Bill, you really need to get it into your lungs to understand just how freaking awesome Shake Shack really is.
