Heal the Body & Recharge the Mind FLOAT THERAPY

Isolation tanks were first developed back in 1954 by John C. Lilly. Lilly, a medical practitioner and neuropsychiatrist experimented with sensory deprivation while training at the US National Institute of Mental Health. It wasn’t until around 1972 that a larger commercial interest in isolation tanks happened. Today, isolation or deprivation tanks are more commonly referred to as float tanks.

Float therapy is a therapeutic experience that allows the body to heal and the mind to recharge with renewed perspective and energy. The density of the water enables the body to float effortlessly allowing every muscle to fully relax. A typical float tank is filled with 11 inches of water and 1000+ pounds of Epsom salt. The water and air are heated to the same temperature as the skin creating the sensation that the body and water are one. Tanks are soundproof and dark, creating a sensation of weightlessness and complete sensory deprivation. This environment is designed to minimize external stimuli and help the mind enter a deeply relaxed state.

The Benefits of Floating

The effects of float therapy extend far beyond simple relaxation. Here are some key benefits:

Stress Reduction: The quiet, serene environment of the float tank allows the mind to unwind, reducing the production of stress hormones like cortisol.

Pain Relief: The buoyancy in the tank takes pressure off joints and muscles, offering relief from chronic pain conditions, fibromyalgia, and arthritis.

Improved Sleep: Regular float therapy can help improve sleep patterns by calming the nervous system and promoting a deeper, more restful sleep.

Enhanced Creativity: Many people report heightened creativity and problemsolving abilities after floating, likely due to the brain entering a more meditative state.

Mental Clarity: The sensory deprivation experience can lead to enhanced focus, mental clarity, and a greater sense of inner peace.

Experiencing Float Therapy

Imagine stepping into a serene, dimly lit room where the hustle and bustle of the outside world starts to fade away. You see a large tank filled with water, warm and inviting. The air is filled with a quiet stillness that immediately soothes your senses. You slowly step into the tank, feeling the soft, silky water, warmed to the exact temperature of your skin. The high concentration of Epsom salt makes the water dense, allowing you to float effortlessly.

As you lay back, your body feels weightless, as if you're floating on air. The water gently cradles you, and the sensation of floating dissolves the boundaries between your body and the water. The tank is dark, and with no light, sound, or gravity to anchor you, you feel as though you’re suspended in space.

Your mind starts to quiet as external distractions fade. You become more aware of your breath, slow and steady. Tension melts away from your muscles, and you feel a deep sense of relaxation washing over you. Time seems to lose meaning as you drift in and out of a meditative state, free from the usual rush of thoughts. In this space, you might experience profound mental clarity or creative insights, or simply enjoy a deep, restorative calm that’s hard to find elsewhere. The worries of the day disappear, leaving you with a profound sense of peace.

As the session comes to an end, a soft light lets you know it’s time to return. You step out of the tank feeling refreshed and recharged, as if you've just woken from a deep, restorative sleep. Your body feels lighter, your mind clearer, and you carry a lasting sense of calm with you as you step back into the world.

Float Locally

There are an array of float therapy centers throughout Southern Nevada. One of our favorite places to float is IMR Float, located at 10870 S. Eastern Ave, #103 in Henderson. Their facility offers float tanks, saunas and cold plunge. Check them out online at imrfloat.com and follow them on Instagram @ imrfloat.

ELLIE LAKS Cow Hug Therapy >>>

Ellie Laks cares for hundreds of abandoned, abused, and traumatized animals at The Gentle Barn, the animal sanctuary she founded with three locations across the U.S. But, it was these same animals who taught her how to care for herself. And through their extraordinary role modeling, they also helped her find her voice as a strong female leader. Ellie talks about this experience in her new book, Cow Hug Therapy: How the Animals of the Gentle Barn Taught Me About Life, Death and Everything in Between. We recently spoke with Ellie to find out more about her journey.

Vegas Wellness Magazine: Tell us about your journey and what interested you in animal wellness and self-care.

Ellie Laks: I was born an animal lover and never outgrew it. Going through the challenges of growing up, it was always animals who listened as I cried, made me feel valued and wanted, and encouraged me to stay, at times when I didn’t want to be here. It was a hummingbird who encouraged me not to attempt suicide at seven years old, the bunnies in the woods who kept me company, and my dog who was my best friend. Because animals saved me when I was a child, I wanted to dedicate my life to saving them. I always saw animals as my friends, teachers, and witnesses, but I also saw that the people around me didn’t see animals the way that I did. It broke my heart. I didn’t understand it, and from the time I was seven, I told everyone that when I grew up I was going to have a big place full of animals and show the world how beautiful they are.

VWM: Give us a little history on The Gentle Barn and how it came to be.

EL: As a young adult, I discovered an abusive petting zoo. I brought sick animals home to my half-acre backyard and cared for them. Those first rescues set me on course to my dream and I finally founded The Gentle Barn in 1999. In August 1999, I opened our barnyard and our home for guests to fall in love with them and rolled out programs for hurting humans to heal beside our animal ambassadors. In 2002, I met a volunteer named Jay Weiner and we soon fell in love and joined forces to expand our mission. In 2003, we expanded to a larger location just outside Los Angeles. In 2015, we rescued a cow named Dudley who was missing a foot in Nashville. We got him the surgeries, rehabilitation, and prosthetics that he needed and opened our second location in Tennessee. In 2018, we saved six cows who escaped a slaughterhouse in St Louis and added our third location in Missouri.

VWM: What is it about cows (specifically) that connects so well with human behaviors? How do you connect the dots between these ideas?

EL: I believe that all animals have something to teach us and ways to heal us. Horses allow us to practice confidence and leadership skills, smaller animals give us the opportunity to practice empathy, and through brushing and grooming animals we can practice coordination, vocal skills, and motor skills. But cows offer something very unique. With all other animals, we tend to be in a dominant role with them, we are the ones who hold them, walk them, or ride them. But with our Gentle Barn cows who outweigh us by thousands of pounds, we are in no way dominant over them. They make us feel humble and vulnerable. We cannot train our cows to be therapists, it is something that they choose for themselves. When they elect to bring us into the folds of their families, we can feel their nurturing and inclusion. Cows regularly meditate and when we are still and quiet with them, it clears our minds of thought and we feel grounded, centered, and present. Like an infant with a caregiver, when we rest our faces against our gentle giants, we can hear their heartbeats and slow down our own heart rate, rise and fall with their breathing and connect with it, and feel loved and hopeful embraced in their giant, protective frames.

I created Cow Hug Therapy 25 years ago when I rescued my very first cow named Buddha. I would lean against her at the end of exhausting days and she, in turn, would wrap her neck around me and hold me for hours while I cried onto her shoulder. She healed me and kept me strong, and I knew that the rest of the world needed this type of healing, as well.

We have used this healing modality for those in foster care, domestic violence shelters, war veteran centers, inner-city schools, special-needs classes, anyone recovering from drug and alcohol, on probation, and anyone out there that is suffering.

During the pandemic there were so many individuals that were suffering and in need of hope that we opened Cow Hug Therapy sessions for anyone. Cow Hug Therapy is perfect for anyone dealing with depression, anxiety, grief, loneliness, and anyone needing a really good hug.

VWM: What are some bullet points for the average person on a self-care journey?

EL: Self-care is so important! We tend not to take ourselves and our own needs seriously, but we need to love and care for ourselves in order for us to give to anyone else. Self-care is a journey and can be done little by little. Come up with a wish list and do each item one by one. Maybe you start with a commitment to eat healthier, less sugar, eliminate animal products, alcohol, or caffeine. Once you are fully committed there, maybe you can establish a daily meditation practice. Once that fits into your life, you might dedicate time toward exercise.

Take one step at a time.

Self-care is not about being arrogant, selfish, or vain. It is about putting yourself on the list of people you care about, and being just as caring of yourself as you are about everyone else. It is just simply adding yourself to the list.

We are all intuitive and we all inherently know who we are and what we have come to do. But we do get lost and we forget. Self-care is about taking ourselves seriously, listening to that still small voice inside of us, following our own instincts, and using our own feelings as a compass of where we are meant to be and what we are meant to do.

The biggest thing that all animals teach us is about the importance of meditation and taking time for ourselves. All animals rest and meditate. As humans we don’t do it enough. Just five minutes a day will change your life!

All animals practice self-care!

VWM: Do you have any other health/wellness efforts in the works?

EL: At The Gentle Barn we offer cow hug therapy to find healing and hope, barnyard therapy to bring back magic, laughter, and fun in your life, and equine therapy to practice confidence and leadership skills. Our animals are master teachers and have something for everyone. Personally, I am taking better care of my body now that I am older and dedicating myself to daily exercise and healthier eating habits.

VWM: How can readers follow what you are doing, and where can readers pick up your book?

EL: More information can be found online at ellieLaks.com and gentleBarn.org. Readers can follow me on social media @ EllieLaks and @TheGentleBarn. My books, My Gentle Barn and Cow Hug Therapy are available on Amazon and at Barnes and Noble. You can get a signed copy at gentlebarn.org.

You Might Be Craving More Than Connection FEELING LONELY?

We all know food can be a comfort. But did you know feelings of loneliness might be making those cravings even stronger?

A new study suggests loneliness could be linked to intense food cravings, especially for sugary or high-calorie options.

Here's the science breakdown:

Researchers scanned the brains of women who reported feeling lonely or not lonely. They showed them pictures of different foods and non-food items. Lonelier women had stronger brain activity in areas linked to cravings and social behavior when shown food images. This suggests loneliness might make people hyperfocused on food cues.

What does this mean for you?

• Loneliness is a major health concern. It can impact your well-being as much as physical health!

• Strong social connections are key. Consider loneliness a red flag – prioritize building strong relationships to support your overall health.

• Our emotions affect our actions. Address the root cause - feeling lonely might be behind unhealthy eating habits.

Looking for ways to combat loneliness?

• Reflect on your social media time. Is it helpful or making you feel more lonely? Social media can be a great place to connect and

engage with others. You can form connections online, join groups of similar interests, or support a movement you can get behind. On the other hand, most people only share the parts of their lives that are positive, fun and exciting. That is not real life. Everyone has challenges and bad days, they just don’t want to share them. Still, seeing a social media feed of other people’s highlight reel can lead us to feeling less than or that we are missing out in life. If being online is making you feel less connected and isolated, you may want to consider spending less time scrolling.

• Find real life connections by joining a group or club. Depending where you live, you can find clubs and activities with common interests or hobbies. Visit websites like Meetup.com or check out Eventbrite for events that peak your interest.

• Go volunteer. There are so many organizations who are looking for volunteers. It's a great way to not only give back, but you also meet new people, feel connected to a community, and feel fulfilled when giving back.

• Practice self care. Exercise, eating healthy, meditation, and sunshine are all effective ways to fight loneliness.

Looking for ways to combat cravings? Try the F.A.S.T Method

F- Feel

• Usually when we feel a negative or uncomfortable feeling, we try to get rid of it as fast as possible. And one of the fastest ways to receive a good feeling is through food.

• Instead of ignoring the uncomfortable feeling, think of this moment as a “check engine light”.

• Take a moment to ask yourself where you feel this craving? How else do you feel right now? These questions can help you get to the root cause of the craving and you may find what it is that you really need in the moment instead of food.

A- Accept

• When you experience a negative emotion, followed by an instant craving, we might experience a lot of internal tension.

• We may feel out of control which can make us feel even worse about ourselves.

• Instead of beating yourself up about it, accept that negative emotions are a normal part of the human experience.

• You don’t choose your emotions, you can choose your response to them. Once you accept this, it will diffuse the internal tension and lift the pressure you were feeling for having these emotions.

S-Speak

• The challenge with thoughts, feelings, and emotions is that they are all in your head which makes it harder to deal with them.

• Instead of trying to think your way out of the negative feeling, put words to it and speak your way out of it. Notice how you are feeling and give it a name.

• By putting words to it, you no longer need to hide or stuff down what you’re feeling by masking it with a yummy treat. Instead, you get present to what’s really going on underneath, which helps you get to the root cause instead of why a craving seemingly came out of nowhere.

T- Time

• One of the best ways to overcome a food craving is to put some time between when you feel it and when you act on it.

• Give yourself 10 minutes to go do something else to see if the craving goes away or spend some time feeling and trying to go deeper.

• You might be surprised, that you actually don’t want the food you were craving anymore and if you did something, give yourself the time and space to figure out what it is that you really needed at the moment.

The Takeaway?

Think of a craving like a check-engine light in your car. It’s just a warning to check the engine, but it doesn’t tell you what the problem is.

Cravings can also be an opportunity to figure out what is really bothering you, and maybe even take meaningful action to address the real issue.

If loneliness is the reason you are experiencing food cravings, know that millions of people suffer from loneliness and the key to fighting it is finding the best strategy that works for you.

>>> Crafting Habits for Mental Brilliance

What if I told you that the secret to achieving mental brilliance lies in daily habits? Don’t we all want to be the best version of ourselves? Each day presents an opportunity for growth and transformation, which means we must welcome change, not fight against it. This journey of change, which does not happen overnight, is fostered by our daily habits. When we create habits focusing on healing from the past and our mental health, it empowers us to take control of our mental well-being and leads us toward mental brilliance.

Life can get chaotic. There is doom-and-gloom news, responsibilities, bills to pay, family drama, work life, and other issues nipping at our heels. Yet, we find time to brush our teeth because it is good for our health and overall well-being. It was a habit that was instilled in us. So why do so many of us never stop and give our mental health the time it deserves? Because we don't make a habit out of it.

We've all said, "I'm going to change (fill in the

blank)." Usually, it is a considerable task like losing weight or dealing with mental health issues. The task is so big that we need to figure out where to start. Once we get into it and realize it may take months or years to change, we get discouraged by the length of time give up, or it fades away.

We all have bad habits and good habits. Some of us live off coffee- without it, our mornings are not the same, and our day is thrown off. Is this a good habit? That is debatable. But the key to change is to take an old habit and introduce something new. For example, that morning cup of coffee and watching television can be altered to coffee and taking a walk. During that walk, we can check in with ourselves and try to process our negative emotions. It is difficult to check in with ourselves with the television on.

I get it—we are super busy, and time is precious. Then again, so is our health. We must learn to use our time wisely and find time to create habits for our mental health. Instead of listening

to the radio on the way to work, we can listen to a podcast about the inner child. On our lunch break, we can do some guided meditation. We must find time to make a mental health habit.

What does a mental health habit look like? It depends on the person, but usually, it is something we need to heal from, and we must look deep inside ourselves to do so. There are times when we have so much pent-up pain, and we need a release or vent, but we don't know who to talk to. Some of us keep that pain inside, and eventually, it wears us down. We can make a small change to our routine and introduce a habit. We can take that cheerful morning cup of coffee that gives us so much joy and journal our pain so we don't have to carry it around the rest of the day; now, we have a great habit.

When we start a habit, we must realize that we might not see results for a while, which can be discouraging. However, when we take the time to improve ourselves, that is an underlying factor. We are taking the time for ourselves and no one else. It's essential to be patient and kind to ourselves during this process. There will be days when negativity creeps up, and we think about stopping or giving up on our healing habits, but we must remember to be kind to ourselves. This journey is about selfimprovement, not selfcriticism. We must focus on the bigger picture.

>>> Elevate Your Wellness Routine with Matcha’s Timeless Benefits

Matcha tea has been cherished for centuries across the globe. Renowned for its rich flavor and myriad health benefits, matcha has evolved from a traditional ceremonial drink to a modern-day superfood. The popularity of matcha has skyrocketed, with most grocery stores and coffee shops now carrying this vibrant green superfood. And while it may be trendy at the moment, it is for good reason, and it can be a wonderful addition to your wellness routine. Let’s dive into the world of matcha, from its origin and holistic uses across cultures to the vast number of benefits it brought our ancestors and continues to bring us today.

Matcha is sourced from the camellia sinensis plant, the same plant green tea also originates from. However, matcha is grown differently under specific conditions, giving it a unique nutrient profile. The plants are shaded for the majority of the growth period. This lack of sunlight boosts the amino acid content and increases chlorophyll production. After harvesting the leaves, the stems and vines are removed, and the leaves are ground down into the vibrant green powder we know as matcha.

Matcha in Traditional and Holistic Medicines

Matcha's history dates back to the Tang Dynasty in China (618–907 AD), where it was initially consumed as a powdered tea. However, it was the Japanese who refined and popularized the practice. By the 12th century, matcha had become integral to the Zen Buddhist rituals, thanks to the efforts of the monk Eisai, who brought the tea seeds from China to Japan. Over time, the Japanese tea ceremony developed, emphasizing mindfulness, simplicity, and the aesthetic enjoyment of matcha. Modern holistic medicine continues to value matcha for its health benefits, often incorporating it into wellness routines to support physical, mental, and emotional health. Let’s explore the uses of matcha tea in holistic and traditional medicine.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)

In TCM, matcha is used to harmonize the body's qi (energy) and support the

liver, kidneys, and digestive system. Its detoxifying properties are particularly valued for cleansing the body and enhancing overall vitality.

Japanese Holistic Practices

In Japan, matcha is not only a part of cultural ceremonies but also a daily health tonic. It is consumed to improve mental clarity, support the immune system, and promote calmness. The Zen Buddhist monks have long used matcha to aid in meditation, enhancing their ability to focus and remain alert for long periods.

Modern Integrative Medicine

Today, matcha is embraced in integrative medicine practices worldwide. It is often recommended as part of a holistic approach to health, combining traditional wisdom with modern scientific research. Matcha is highly valued for its health benefits, known as a superfood in modern times.

The Health Benefits of Matcha

The use of matcha tea for centuries has piqued the interest of scientists worldwide. The powdered tea has been studied extensively and research has found it offers a vast number of benefits. Here are some of the many therapeutic offerings of matcha tea:

Rich in Antioxidants

One of the standout benefits of matcha is its high antioxidant content. Matcha contains a potent class of antioxidants known as catechins. Antioxidants are crucial for neutralizing free radicals in the body, which can cause cellular damage and contribute to aging and various diseases, including cancer, autoimmune disorders, neurodegenerative conditions, and cardiovascular disease.

Boosts Metabolism and Burns Calories

Matcha can aid in weight loss by enhancing metabolism and fat oxidation. Studies have shown that the combination of caffeine and catechins in matcha can significantly increase the body's rate of burning calories, aiding in achieving and maintaining a healthy weight.

Enhances Calm and Focus

Unlike coffee, which can cause jitteriness and a spike in energy followed by a crash, matcha provides a more stable and sustained energy boost. This is due to its unique combination of caffeine and L-theanine, an amino acid that promotes relaxation, reduces stress, and improves cognitive function.

Detoxifies the Body

The chlorophyll content in matcha not only gives it its vibrant green color but also acts as a powerful detoxifier. Chlorophyll can help remove heavy metals and harmful chemicals from the body, supporting overall health and well-being.

Supports Heart Health

Regular consumption of matcha can improve cardiovascular health by reducing levels of bad cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides. The antioxidants in matcha have been shown to help prevent the oxidation of LDL cholesterol, a key factor in the development of heart disease.

Strengthens the Immune System

Matcha is packed with vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A, C, and E, as well as potassium and iron. These nutrients are essential for maintaining a healthy immune system. The catechins in matcha also have antibacterial and antiviral properties, further boosting immunity and helping to fend off infections.

Improves Skin Health

The antioxidants in matcha can help protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals, reducing signs of aging and promoting a healthy complexion. Matcha can also reduce inflammation and redness, making it beneficial for those with acne or other skin conditions.

Enhances Endurance and Physical Performance

The combination of caffeine and theophylline in matcha provides a sustained energy release, which can enhance physical performance and endurance. Athletes can consume matcha to improve their stamina

and recovery times. The amino acids in matcha also help to reduce muscle soreness and fatigue after intense exercise.

Promotes Digestive Health

Matcha is known to support digestive health by promoting the growth of beneficial gut bacteria. The fiber content in matcha can aid in regular bowel movements and prevent constipation. Additionally, the catechins in matcha have been shown to reduce inflammation in the digestive tract, which can potentially help manage conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Supports Mental Health

The L-theanine in matcha not only promotes calmness but also enhances the production of serotonin and dopamine, which are neurotransmitters that regulate mood. This can help reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, providing a natural way to support mental health.

Adding Healthy Flavors to Your Matcha

While traditional matcha preparation is a simple process involving whisking the powder with hot or cold water, many modern enthusiasts enjoy experimenting with flavors to enhance the taste and add nutritional value. Here are some healthy ways to add additional flavor your matcha:

Blended Strawberries

Fresh or frozen strawberries can add a delightful natural sweetness and a burst of flavor to your matcha. Strawberries are rich in vitamins, antioxidants, and fiber, making them a nutritious addition. Simply blend strawberries with a bit of water or milk and mix with your matcha for a refreshing and healthy beverage.

Maple Syrup

For those who prefer a touch of sweetness, maple syrup is a fantastic natural sweetener. Unlike refined sugar, maple syrup contains beneficial minerals, such as zinc and potassium. A small drizzle of maple syrup can enhance the earthy flavor of matcha without overpowering it, providing a balanced and enjoyable drink.

Coconut Milk

Coconut milk adds a creamy texture and a hint of tropical flavor to matcha. It is also a great source of healthy fats, which can help with the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins. You can make a delicious matcha latte by blending matcha powder with warm coconut milk and a touch of honey or maple syrup.

Mint Leaves

Fresh mint leaves can provide a refreshing twist to your matcha. Mint is known for its digestive benefits and soothing properties. You can muddle mint leaves at the bottom of your cup before adding matcha and water, or blend mint with matcha and ice for a cooling summer drink.

Lemon Juice

A splash of fresh lemon juice can enhance the antioxidant benefits of matcha and add a burst of citrus flavor. The vitamin C in lemon juice helps increase the absorption of catechins, making your matcha even more beneficial. Mix lemon juice with matcha and water for a simple yet invigorating drink.

Matcha tea has a rich history and is packed with impressive health benefits. This invigorating green elixir has seamlessly woven itself into both traditional and modern holistic practices, becoming a beloved staple for those who seek wellness in every sip. Whether you enjoy it in its pure, earthy form or as a delightful twist in your favorite recipes, matcha offers a refreshing and nourishing experience.

Healthier alternatives to alcohol Enhancing the Human Connection

Whether you participate in "Sober October" or maintain a constant state of sobriety, whether you are a frequent drinker or a social drinker, this piece invites readers from all walks of life to contemplate the intentions behind their alcohol consumption and take interest in various ways human connection can be improved.

At the heart of our choices lies intention—a driving force shaping our actions, influencing decisions, and guiding reasoning.

In a recent exploration, I delved into the comparison between psychedelics and alcohol within the intricate realms of selfdiscovery, connection, relationships, and sex. The allure of alcohol, whether in social gatherings or intimate settings, frequently originates from a craving for what we call "liquid courage." It's that extra sip taken at a party teeming with strangers, a means of coping with a stressful situation, the echoes of trauma, or a tool for navigating experiences with a partner that range from unfulfilling to downright frustrating.

So, the question arose: Can psychedelics enhance our relationships and maybe even our sex lives more than alcohol? The answer lies not just in pleasure, but in deeper connection and in the ability to set purposeful intentions. Yes, this can potentially be fostered by certain psychedelics, particularly empathogenic, heart opening ones like MDMA. However, at the very core of it all is the importance of the bond we have with ourselves: self-love, how we strive to be better humans, and when we recognize that how we treat others is often a reflection of that very relationship to self. A healthy relationship with self is the foundation of having healthy, fulfilling relationships with others, and that often involves how we present ourselves in society, our sense of duty, and our commitment to our loved ones.

Let’s kick it off with an exciting one:

Beyond recreational use, certain psychedelics, like MDMA, when used in a safe container, can enhance libido, intensify sensory experiences, and promote meaningful connection. Pharmacologically, MDMA exercises dual action on serotonin and dopamine neurotransmitters, facilitating feelings of openness, self-acceptance, and love. It is being studied for PTSD and couples’ therapy, and can foster greater desire between partners, elevate mood, motivation, social engagement, and empathy. It reduces hypervigilance and promotes trust. [1,2,3,8]

A safe container of use can provide the deepening of rapport and communication with a therapist, a friend, or a partner. It can encourage personal growth, introspection, and a willingness to face difficult memories and traumas, as well as provides an opportunity to transform dysfunctional patterns associated with those very traumas. For some, it’s an opportunity for true self-

healing, for others it’s repairing relationships, and strengthening bonds.

So are we replacing alcohol with psychedelics when we party?

It’s not quite so straightforward. Replacing alcohol with psychedelics isn't a magical solution as the potential for addiction and misuse is equally as real. Open dialogue and education is needed to promote safe and appropriate use. Responsibility and integrity stand tall above all, no matter your intended use. Psychedelics present another tool in our proverbial toolbox to help us reach a place where we embrace presence and intention. Alcohol can quickly go from social lubricant, or liquid courage to a crutch or a dissociative.

Psychedelics are not meant for dissociation nor do they present an escape route. If used appropriately, they are your guide to the very place where joy, love, authenticity, and self-acceptance prevail. That is why, in my opinion, so many gravitate toward and enjoy a psychedelic like MDMA in a recreational setting.

And what about people who say it’s a sex drug?

The answer lies not in your sex swing…well maybe it does at times, but what we really need is to redefine the meaning of intimacy. If you are using psychedelics to enrich your relationships and sex life, then you’ll soon realize that it transcends mere pleasure, by redefining intimacy and the very meaning of sex, revealing a deeper layer of connection. It encourages self-discovery, mutual understanding, and appreciation within relationships. And if that leads you to better sex (and it will), then you’ve won!

Psychedelics are said to have the ability to change our minds. Society certainly needs to change its mind about how it views sex, how it presents sex to our youth, the expectations it sets, as well as the gender roles. If psychedelics can help redefine all of this and more, leading to a healthier mindset, less shame, more awareness, and ultimately happy, healthier, and more fulfilled individuals, then the answer is F*** yes! Psychedelics can enhance our sex lives and our relationships more than alcohol! We certainly don’t need to be leaving our bodies when we are connecting with others; when we are engaging in an act that is so intricately woven into the human experience.

More than just physical pleasure, meaningful and honest communication contribute to a more fulfilling relationship and sexual experience. It might just inspire you to share a fantasy or imagine a new one. It might inspire you to integrate bonding activities with your partner. Or to turn the infamous “we need to

talk” into “we can't believe we didn’t talk about this sooner”. Not ready to have a psychedelic experience?

That’s cool too, because this exploration doesn't begin, nor does it end with psychedelics, as various consciousness-altering and bonding practices can be just as valuable. Whether it's (solo or shared) breathwork, meditation, daily moments of eye-gazing, music, dance, sharing passions, fantasies, or desires, intentional time to talk, expressing appreciation, or other rituals, practices, or activities, the key is to achieve closeness, foster honest communication, shed ego, embrace vulnerability, and cultivate trust and curiosity.

Boldly presenting our authentic selves, embracing diversity, and cultivating acceptance amidst our differences, while harboring a profound curiosity to delve into stimulating subjects, encapsulates a culture often associated with psychedelics. However, this very ethos, of course, exists outside the realm of psychedelics, embodying principles cherished by individuals across various walks of life—not just limited to psychonauts. This culture beckons us to navigate the depths of our minds, fostering connections with like-minded individuals and fostering an inclusive atmosphere that extends beyond the psychedelic experience, and THAT will most certainly enrich our relationship to self and to others. I intentionally keep mentioning “self”, as it is the foundation of all other relationships, and it needs to be nurtured.

Curious about trying something other than alcohol, but aren’t quite ready for a psychedelic experience:

Kanna (Sceletium tortuosum), also sometimes referred to as “Nature's MDMA”, is a psychoactive plant without psychedelic properties or addictive and neurotoxic potential. This succulent originates from South Africa and has been utilized for centuries to manage stress [4]. Historical accounts reveal that soldiers used it to calm their nerves before battle, and mothers even administered it to babies with colic [5]. Beyond being a heart opener, Kanna has the capacity to ground you, alleviate anxiety, improve your sleep, uplift your mood, and contribute to a healthy libido, even boosting your desire. It also plays well with others, like cacao or cannabis [5]. Kanna can be a natural alternative to integrate for support on a variety of levels, from recreational, to ceremonial, and spiritual.

Plant Power You Can Drink

In the realm of beverages, a burgeoning trend is the emergence of plant-powered, functional, and non-alcoholic alternatives—some of which are even imbued with psychoactive properties (and entirely legal)! The difference is that these psychoactive substances will alter your central nervous system without being psychedelic or hallucinogenic. “Functional” is often used interchangeably with

the term “adaptogenic”. Adaptogens support homeostasis (your body’s natural state of physiological equilibrium) and “functional” essentially means that it serves a purpose for your body and can exercise an effect on your bodily functions, whether that's on the cognitive or physical level. These beverages can energize and uplift you. They can even mellow and relax you.

You can now imbibe to your desired vibe.

Companies like Elixart and Good + Bar specialize in crafting such products, and are redefining what we know as “mocktails”, without the aftermath of a hangover—and, let's face it, the inevitable regret. Some of these same herbs and plants can be taken individually or stacked to supplement daily nutrition as well. We’re talking about kanna, ginkgo biloba, ashwagandha, ginseng, maca, reishi, chaga, lion’s mane, cordyceps, valerian, kava, damiana, blue lotus, fenugreek, tribulus, and many more (See upcoming article on stacking functional plants and mushrooms).

In essence, while many of my friends can attest to the fact that I love champagne, I firmly maintain that alcohol holds a high potential for misuse, leading to numbness, dissociation, and perpetuating disconnection and avoidance. While I do of course acknowledge that psychedelics pose risks and can also be misused, the difference lies in the fact that I do not see a situation where alcohol can elevate one’s consciousness; and I am not referring to wine with dinner, or cold beer at the beach. I advocate for alternative, healthier avenues to address emotions, facilitate healing, nurture connections, and enrich relationships with ourselves and with others.

Through the transformative experiences of heart-opening psychedelics or medicinal plants like Kanna, or intentional solo and shared practices, a profound realization dawns: the potent ability within us to replicate the sublime sensations of unity, selflove, and curiosity. Equipped with these insights, we can allow these profound feelings to be our guiding force.

From Hot Flashes to Haute Looks >>> The Menopause Makeover Phenomenon

As we step into National Menopause Awareness Month this September, it’s the perfect time to get candid about menopause and the physical, emotional, and psychological changes that come along with it. While menopause is a natural part of aging it has been historically considered a taboo topic, leaving no room for women to openly talk about the menopausal changes that impact a woman's self-esteem and comfort. Living in more modern times has opened up the stage for women to discuss these changes, and that’s how the "Menopause Makeover" was born—a growing trend in cosmetic procedures designed to help women regain confidence and embrace this new stage of life with grace and poise. Forget the Mommy Makeover, the Menopause Makeover is said to be the biggest cosmetic trend of 2024!

What is a Menopause Makeover?

The menopause makeover targets the unique changes that occur during menopause, including sagging skin, loss of facial volume, redistribution of fat and other age-related transformations influenced by hormonal shifts. As menopause progresses, declining estrogen levels can lead to decreased skin elasticity, making it more prone to sagging and wrinkling. Simultaneously, the loss of facial volume can often result in a more hollowed and aged appearance. This tailored makeover employs advanced techniques to counteract these effects, rejuvenating the skin and restoring youthful contours. By understanding and addressing the specific impacts of menopause hormones, the approach we use at Platinum Plastic Surgery helps women achieve a revitalized appearance that enhances both their physical look and emotional confidence.

The Most Requested Surgeries

The Menopause Makeover typically includes a combination of the following procedures, tailored to meet each patient's unique needs:

Breast Reduction and Lift: Many women experience changes in breast size and shape during menopause. Breast reduction and lift surgeries help restore a more youthful and comfortable breast shape, reducing any physical discomfort from larger, sagging breasts.

Liposuction: Hormonal changes during menopause often lead to stubborn fat deposits, especially around the abdomen, thighs, and hips. Liposuction targets these areas, providing a more contoured and toned appearance.

Body Contouring: Loose, sagging skin is a common concern for menopausal women. Body contouring procedures, such as tummy tucks and arm lifts, remove excess skin and tighten the underlying tissues, resulting in a firmer and more youthful look.

Facial Rejuvenation: Menopause also affects the face, unfortunately. Procedures such as facelifts, eyelid surgery

(blepharoplasty), and non-surgical treatments like Botox and fillers help to rejuvenate the facial appearance, reducing wrinkles and restoring a more youthful look.

The Transformative Impact

For many of my patients, undergoing a Menopause Makeover is about more than just physical appearance. It's about reclaiming a sense of self and confidence that may have been diminished by the changes of menopause, changes that are out of their control. The Menopause Makeover is a way for these women to regain control of their aging process. With modern medicine and advancements, humans live a lot longer so why wouldn’t these women want to look their best during this time?

The Importance of Choosing the Right Surgeon

As a plastic surgeon who has successfully treated hundreds of patients, I strongly emphasize the importance of a personalized approach, this means tailoring each patient’s surgeries to what will fit their body and build the best. Selecting a skilled and experienced surgeon is crucial when considering a Menopause Makeover. My expertise in breast reductions, lifts, liposuction, and body contouring makes me a trusted choice for many women seeking these procedures. My patient-centered approach and commitment to natural-looking results ensure that each patient has the best experience possible and falls in love with their body.

Embracing Menopause with Confidence

As we celebrate National Menopause Awareness Month, it's important to recognize that menopause is a natural part of life that can be embraced with confidence and grace. The increasing popularity of Menopause Makeovers reflects a growing desire among women to take control of their appearance and wellbeing during this transition. With the right support and care, it's possible to look and feel your best at any age.

SHAAN - 702 GREENS

and requires precise care from planting to harvest. We use organic practices and ensure that our products are fresh, clean, and packed with nutrients.

Living here in Southern Nevada, most of our food is grown hundreds of miles away, and often in foreign countries. The food we eat is frozen and thawed out, packaged, unpackaged, and handled by many different people with little investment in the food and along this journey, the food loses both flavor and nutritional value. 702 Greens is on a mission to provide the freshest food possible to restaurants and households that otherwise wouldn’t have access to locally grown produce. The team at 702 Greens cultivates pristine microgreens that promote optimal performance and are delivered on the day of harvest for maximum freshness.

702 Greens Founder Shaan started the company back in 2022. With a background in agriculture, health and nutrition, his passion for healthy living and sustainable agriculture led him to explore the world of microgreens and sprouts. We caught up with him at the Farmers Market to find out more about the business of sprouts.

Vegas Wellness Magazine: Why grow microgreens?

Shaan: Microgreens are incredibly nutrient-dense, packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. They are easy to grow, have a quick turnaround time, and can be used in a variety of dishes to boost nutritional content. Their health benefits and versatility make them an excellent choice for anyone looking to improve their diet.

VWM: What types of microgreens do you grow and what is the process?

Shaan: At 702 Greens, we grow a variety of microgreens including radish, broccoli, sunflower, and peas. Our Nutritional Mix is composed of pea, sunflower, broccoli, radish, kale and cabbage microgreens. This hand-crafted mix features the most healthy and flavorful varieties of microgreens allowing you to look, feel and perform at your very best.

The process involves carefully controlled indoor environments where we monitor temperature, humidity, and light to ensure optimal growth. Each type of microgreen has specific needs

VWM: How long do microgreens last and where can readers purchase them?

Shaan: Our microgreens stay fresh for about two weeks when stored properly. They should be kept in the refrigerator in a sealed container to maintain their freshness and nutritional value.

Readers can purchase our microgreens through our website, 702greens.com, and at various farmers markets and pop-up events around the city. We also offer delivery services to ensure you get the freshest greens delivered right to your door.

VWM: What obstacles have you faced within your business?

Shaan: One of the main challenges has been dealing with extreme weather conditions, which can affect market attendance and overall sales. Additionally, finding reliable staff and managing operational logistics as we grow have been ongoing challenges. Despite these obstacles, we've been able to adapt and find new opportunities for growth and outreach.

VWM: What do you appreciate about having your business?

Shaan: I appreciate the ability to provide fresh, healthy food to our community and the opportunity to educate people about the benefits of microgreens. The positive feedback from customers who notice improvements in their health is incredibly rewarding. Additionally, the flexibility and creativity that come with running my own business are aspects I truly enjoy.

VWM: What are some of the best ways to enjoy your microgreens?

Shaan: Adding microgreens to smoothies boosts their nutritional value and adds a fresh flavor. In salads, microgreens add texture and a burst of flavor. And, in sandwiches and wraps they add a crunchy texture and fresh taste.

Because there are so many benefits found in nature, I have been known to promote herbal teas, so with that I invite you to sip some tea as we steep ourselves into this month’s topic: CASTOR OIL.

By now, you may have heard some of the wonders of castor oil, either shared by your grandmother as an age-old tradition, or mentioned by that one health nut friend that is always on some super unique health trips and is currently ‘naval oiling’ (putting oil inside the belly button and massaging for a range of benefits). Either way, castor oil has been a powerful remedy for centuries and it’s worth knowing about.

I have personally experienced the benefits of castor oil, and find it to be something that is very helpful to keep on hand in the house, and I am excited to share some of the many reasons why.

Ancient Seed

Castor oil is a pale yellow or sometimes dark brown thick oil that is extracted from the pressing of the seeds of the Ricinus Communis plant. This oil has been documented as a staple in medicine for thousands of years with such a variety of applications and benefits ranging from skin care, digestion, to health remedies, and industrial applications with over 700 uses. This special oil was said to have been found in the tomb of the Pharaoh Tutankhamun of Egypt, cited in the Ebers Papyrus (an Egyptian, also known as Kemetic, medical journal), and used by Cleopatra for eye health. Castor oil has been integrated into the Ayurvedic practices of India as well as in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), while Hippocrates of Greece also prescribed it for its laxative properties.

Composition and Sourcing

Castor oil is made up of oleic and linoleic acids, but the majority of the seed oil is composed of ricinoleic acid which is a fatty acid that has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and analgesic properties. The rich range of amber color that castor oil can produce will be dependent on the extraction and processing. The traditional method entails roasting, grinding, and boiling the beans before heat extraction, then straining. Contrastingly, refined castor oil, which has become all too common in the marketplace, is commonly extracted with hexane that changes its compounds to hold 85% less ricinoleic acid. This is why it is so important to always ensure you are getting hexane-free and organic castor oil, because of numerous viral trends, it might be harder to find a quality source. For this reason, I recommend sourcing an option that comes in a glass bottle, and if you are able to somewhat trace the oils origins and extraction process (via a transparent supply chain) you will get a better quality.

Hair and Skin Care

Over the past few centuries, Jamaican culture has kept the tradition of using castor oil for its ‘drawing’ effects for inflammation, while also popularizing the use of Jamaican Black Castor Oil for deep nourishing hair oil for growth and moisture. The Castor bean originates in eastern Africa, however was brought over to the Caribbean during the slave trade between 1625 and 1810 and the seed has since been processed for a range of uses by the enslaved Africans and the British. In Haiti it was known as Lwil maskriti and used as a universal cure-all.

However in more recent years it has gone viral for a range of hair and skin care remedies as folks on the internet have been sharing their results using castor oil to regrow and strengthen hair (sometimes in combination of rosemary or peppermint essential oils) as well as using on lashes and eyebrows for thicker growth. Castor oil supports scalp health by minimizing dandruff and increasing circulation, however it’s recommended to only oil a couple times per week, and ensure you are properly washing it out after. Tips and tricks are plenty as the widespread sharing of natural solutions for health and beauty abound.

In alignment with hair support, castor oil is also a sensation that has been promoted to reduce wrinkles pretty drastically. Again, it’s thick and with moisturizing effect penetrates deeply into the skin to lock in hydration which supports dry or sensitive skin, which most folks living or even passing through Vegas experience. Because it may be too viscous to work with, you can blend it with some jojoba oil, and a few drops of frankincense oil to increase the benefits for your skin. It is very low on the comedogenic scale making it ideal for topical use, with the added benefit of it’s antimicrobial wound healing abilities. Whenever trying something new on your skin, always do a patch test to check for any allergic reactions.

Going Deeper

Having worked at a health food store as a teenager, my first experience with castor oil was the recommendation for individuals dealing with inflamed or congested liver issues. It would be recommended that the person use the castor oil topically in what is called a ‘Castor Oil Pack’. This is by getting a non-toxic piece of cloth (preferably flannel or organic cotton), soaking it in castor oil, placing it just above the liver area, and then heating it with a compress a couple times per week. This can obviously be a messy process, but over the years, there are many ready made solutions that make the process a lot more convenient. Proper research is still necessary for this type of treatment.

Since skin is the largest organ on our body, it is important to know that anything you apply will be absorbed which can affect other parts of your body; this can be of benefit or detriment depending on what you slather on.

In the fashion of Castor Oil Packs, women have been using this fatty acid rich oil on the womb area to address issues related

to PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome) and going online to share their personal experience. Alongside this social media posted information, folks across the board are partaking in the Ayurvedic practice of ‘naval oiling’- a process of simply massaging some castor oil inside the belly button and surrounding stomach area nightly to help with cramping, digestion, bloating, and suggested weight loss. However it is important to note that there are no definitive studies on the effectiveness of improving the health of any internal organ health or disease with castor oil, there are only individual testimonies and experiences shared online.

More recently, there was a smaller study published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine that inspected the use of topical castor oil for osteoarthritis in the knees. The researchers found that the study’s participants experienced improved knee function and reduced pain with no side effects. There have also been studies for general joint pain relief through the application of warm castor oil.

FDA Approved

While there are a range of published studies on the application of castor oil for things such as labor induction, joint support, skin hyperpigmentation, and more, the one thing that castor oil is approved by the Food and Drug Administration is for oral use in cases of mild constipation. Castor oil is commonly known for its bowel stimulating effects, however it is important to use it very mindfully in moderation, and in all cases under the care of a healthcare provider. When taking it orally, too much can lead to dehydration.

Precautions

Even when using castor oil topically on the outer part of your skin, it is possible that you can experience detoxifying effects. Many times when detoxing, flu-like symptoms may arise. If this occurs it is important to not just stop, however do your best to ensure that all your detox pathways are open. Performing your own lymphatic massage to encourage circulation, increase hydration for sweating and elimination, and deep breathing are very effective ways to support the release of toxins when they are ready to exit! The last thing you want to do when adding any new health regiment is dehydrate which can too commonly occur in our Las Vegas summer heat.

Hydrate and Smile

So with that being said, I am going to hydrate in a couple ways as I finish sipping my herbal tea infused water bottle, while applying castor oil on the corners of my eyes to address the crows feet from so much smiling!

SEPTEMBER HOROSCOPES

ARIES (MARCH 19-APRIL 19)

Aries (March 19 – April 19)

This month you are full of courage and energy, ready to take on anything life throws your way. Things just seem to fall into place effortlessly. Even workplace conflicts won't bother you which you see as just another chance for you to practice your skills. It's the perfect moment to reconnect with old friends. Don’t hesitate to reach out and rekindle those bonds. If you’re searching for love, your positive energy and attitude could draw someone special into your life. With the Sun in a favorable position, you’ll face every obstacle fearlessly, and still have energy to spare for your hobbies and family. Just remember to be mindful of how your energy affects those around you. While some people will be inspired by your drive, others might feel a bit overwhelmed by your active approach.

TAURUS (APRIL 19-MAY

20)

As the seasons start changing, you feel drawn to reflect on your life and how you’ve spent your time this year. You might feel a bit down and unmotivated with your progress. These negative emotions could seep into different areas of your life, so it's crucial not to bottle them up. Seek support from your partner or a friend. While it might be tempting to avoid the negativity, it's better to face it and let it pass. It's important to let things flow naturally and not let your worries consume you. You might feel physically drained, but much of that exhaustion stems from overthinking and wrestling with feelings of insecurity. This month may feel challenging, but remember it’s only temporary!

GEMINI

(MAY 20-JUNE 20)

Don’t be surprised if you feel like you're juggling too much. Whether it’s work pressure, study commitments, or concerns about family, it may feel overwhelming. Those tasks you put off earlier are now demanding your attention. With responsibilities piling up, it’s easy to lose sight of what truly brings you joy. Instead of diving into mentally demanding tasks, consider taking a step back. Plan a relaxing weekend, whether in nature or at a wellness retreat with friends. This is your chance to clear your mind and rekindle your inner peace. As the month winds down, be mindful of your health. Avoid risky activities and take extra care to protect yourself from potential injuries. Give yourself the space you need to recharge and regain your balance.

CANCER (JUNE 20-JULY 22)

September stirs a deep longing for connection. You’ll crave the warmth of a hug, the closeness of loved ones, and the reassurance that you are cherished. Don’t let this need consume you and instead focus on nurturing self love. This month is about reminding yourself of your worth and acting in ways that feel true to you. It’s a time for introspection and meditation

rather than seeking external validation. Finding your inner peace is what matters most. At work, challenges might make you want to withdraw rather than confront issues directly. This could lead to misunderstandings with colleagues who may not be as sympathetic as you’d like. Protect your heart and focus on your inner strength during this time.

LEO (JULY 22-AUGUST 22)

Enjoy a fresh sense of calm and focus this month, perfect for embracing new creative pursuits like culinary or music related hobbies. It’s an ideal time to take advantage of the lingering sunny days and plan a trip. Choose your travel companions wisely, as this might be your last chance for a getaway this year. The mental energy you gain from this trip will carry you through the rest of the year. You’ll navigate the stress of September with ease, providing support to your loved ones while still having plenty of energy for your own projects. It’s also a great time to tackle tasks you’ve been putting off. You’re one step ahead of the game and this month is no different!

VIRGO (AUG 22-SEPT 22)

You shine brightly as a source of kindness and care as we celebrate Virgo season! The Sun’s influence makes you more generous and ready to help others, whether it's through volunteering, donating blood, or simply being there for someone in need. You’ll have plenty of opportunities for social events and gettogethers that celebrate you. Your organizational skills are on point, and your colleagues might even benefit from your guidance. However, be mindful of your relationships. Your desire to be in control and a tendency towards the material could create friction, especially with your partner or potentials. Balance is key, so try not to let that craving for dominance overshadow the harmony in your relationships.

LIBRA (SEP 22-OCT 22)

You feel alive and stimulated this month as the Sun enters Libra on the 22nd. You are motivated to refresh your home space, whether it's diving into a renovation project or finally tackling that deep clean you've been putting off. Overall, you are feeling fantastic both physically and mentally. On the relationship front, a situation may arise that triggers jealousy. You might feel a bit on edge and ready to defend your territory, but it’s important to take a step back. Spend time in nature to clear your mind and you’ll likely return with a calmer perspective, realizing the situation isn’t as dire as it first appeared. Just be mindful of how you handle potential rejection and conflict. Your natural charm will serve you better than any impulsive reactions.

SCORPIO (OCT 22- NOV 21)

Be cautious of turbulent times ahead, particularly in your love life. With Venus in Libra moving into Scorpio on the 26th, you could find yourself caught between being emotionally detached and overly romantic. You might encounter someone who stirs up intense feelings or be battling your

need for more independence. If you're currently in a relationship, you could find yourself tempted to stray, leading you to question your satisfaction with your current partner. It’s important to understand why this new person has entered your life and to take some time for self reflection. Try your best to stay composed and keep your emotions in check. Take time for introspection and evaluating what you truly need from your relationships.t doing your thing!

SAGITTARIUS (NOV 21-DEC 21)

Your leadership skills are on full display so don’t hold back! Whether you’re starting a new project at work or managing responsibilities at home, you excel at bringing people together and getting the best results. This ability to lead with both respect and camaraderie will serve you well in both professional and personal settings. Your athletic abilities will be particularly strong especially in team sports. Consider organizing a weekend game with friends to make the most of this dynamic energy. You’ll naturally draw people in with your charisma and authority, leaving both friends and strangers impressed. Communication will come effortlessly, especially with kids, so spend as much time as you can with others which will be a key source of vitality for you this month.

CAPRICORN (DEC 21-JAN 20)

At the start of the month, you may struggle with focus and time management causing you to feel buried beneath a mountain of work and responsibilities. It’s a good time to reassess your priorities and effectiveness. Review if shouldering others' responsibilities are causing you to struggle keeping up with your own tasks. It’s crucial to take a step back, prioritize, and tackle things one at a time to prevent them from piling up. Don’t worry, if anyone can organize to-do lists and cross things off them, it’s you! Saturn’s influence may also have you revisiting old memories and relationships, leading to feelings of nostalgia or melancholy. Resist dwelling on the past and focus on getting things done to move forward.

AQUARIUS (JAN 20-FEB 18)

You are especially chasing the feeling of independence this month, but then again, when are you not? If you’re feeling bored or stifled, it could be a sign to follow your instincts and consider a change. Your desire for freedom will be apparent, and you'll likely enjoy a more carefree approach to your social and romantic life. Be mindful not to unintentionally hurt anyone in the process, as you could be more prone to doing so this month. Don’t be surprised if others notice your reliability waver, potentially straining your connections with family and friends. Despite this, your charm will shine through, helping to smooth over any issues. Embrace your role as an

entertainer, as it can improve your interactions at work and with friends.

PISCES (FEB 18-MAR 19)

Don’t be surprised if you feel overwhelmed by the changing weather and a growing list of responsibilities. This could lead to stress and even some low moments. Your focus for this month should be on finding mental balance and taking care of your health. September often brings a surge in responsibilities that can affect your mood, but you’re in a strong position to manage these feelings. See if you can get friends or family to pitch in and help you get ahead of things again. Working together not only fosters goodwill but also provides a social outlet to clear your mind. Consider taking some extra time off for yourself and your family to catch up.

COFFEE BEAN & TEA LEAF >>> Commitment to Community Involvement

Matthew Mankins has the privilege of serving as the Community Outreach Manager for Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in the Las Vegas valley. Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL) has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1963 in Southern California. Over the years, they’ve grown into a global brand, known and loved for their signature beverages, including the world-renowned Original Ice Blended drink. Here in Las Vegas, their journey began in 2002 when Las Vegas Coffee Investors (LVCI) opened the first CBTL location. Since then, they have expanded to 13 locations across the valley, each one serving as more than just a place to grab a coffee—it’s a hub for community connection and support.

At Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, they believe in giving back to the communities that support them. Dedication to social responsibility is woven into everything that they do. One standout initiative is the CBTL workforce development program, which partners with nonprofits like HELP of Southern Nevada to offer job opportunities to disadvantaged youths. This program is about more than just employment; it’s about giving young people the tools and support they need to build a brighter future.

CBTL’s commitment to the community doesn’t stop there- every spring, their team heads to Mt. Charleston for cleanup events, ensuring that one of our valley’s natural treasures remains beautiful for all to enjoy. Their team also takes part in toy donations for the Ogden Family Foundation and contributes back-to-school supplies through Project 150, helping local students start the school year off right.

During the holiday season, efforts ramp up even more. Donations of coffee and hot chocolate at the Salvation Army in December and volunteering to serve those experiencing homelessness are just a few of the ways in which the CBTL staff give back. Additionally, they volunteer at The Magical Forest at Opportunity Village, supporting efforts to create a magical experience for everyone who visits.

CBTL is also proud to contribute to the Asian Pacific Community Awareness initiative, which supports the UMC Children’s Hospital Christmas and Veterans Fundraiser. These are just a few examples of how CBTL strives to make a positive impact throughout the year.

Upcoming Events

CBTL is excited to share that from October 11-13, they will be donating coffee and pastries to the Summerlin Festival of Arts, a fantastic event that brings together the community to celebrate creativity and culture. Additionally, on Friday, September 27th, they will be supporting the Tea, Trends, and Tranquility event organized by HELP of Southern Nevada at the Waldorf Astoria. It’s another

wonderful opportunity to give back while enjoying some of the finer things in life!

CBTL loves their customers and are always looking for ways to show appreciation. Veterans, military members, police officers, firefighters, seniors, and teachers all receive a 10% discount at all Las Vegas area locations. It’s a small way of saying ‘thank you for all you do’. Additionally, the CBTL loyalty app is a hit with customers who earn points with every purchase that can be redeemed for free drinks and bakery items. Always looking for ways to connect with the community, CBTL regularly hosts game nights, trivia nights, and live music events at area locations.

What truly sets Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf apart from other coffee shops in Las Vegas is their deep-rooted commitment to community involvement. How inHarmony is Redefining Meditation

If you’re anything like me, the mere thought of meditation makes you cringe. Sitting still and “clearing my mind” feels so unattainable, it might as well be an Olympic event. The overactive thoughts are relentless, and don’t even get me started on yoga class. While everyone else is zen’d out in silent bliss, I’m that person who’s ommmm-ing with one eye open, secretly judging everyone’s outfits. Finding that elusive "zone" feels impossible when your mind refuses to simply shut the hell up.

Craig Goldberg, co-owner of inHarmony, knows this struggle all too well. So much so that he set out to tackle it head-on with an innovative approach to wellness. We caught up with Craig to discuss how sound and vibration are helping folks achieve true relaxation through deep, transformative meditative states—no substances needed.

Welcome to the World of Vibroacoustic Therapy

For nearly eight years, Craig and his crew have been cookin’ up what they call "relaxation furniture." And no, this isn’t your grandpa’s La-Z-Boy. It’s a deep dive into the world of vibroacoustic therapy. "Vibroacoustic therapy is a fancy way of saying vibration and sound therapy," Craig explains. The science behind it dates back to the late 1970s and explores how different frequencies of sound and vibration impact our physiology, neurology, and overall well-being.

The idea is genius-level simple: using sound and vibration together guides the body into a parasympathetic state—a.k.a. calm and relaxed mode—to counteract the relentless stress and anxiety of modern life. "The more calm and relaxed you are, the better your body is going to perform," Craig declares, like it’s the most obvious thing in the world. And, in a way, it kind of is. Your body was designed to run like a well-oiled machine, but all that stress and anxiety is gumming up the works.

“A body in a sympathetic or stressed state is in survival mode, and has a different set of priorities,” he explains. “But the priority of a calm and relaxed body is simply to maintain itself and operate optimally."

A New Approach to Wellness

Let’s face it. The demands of modern life are overwhelming, and humans just weren’t built for the constant barrage of information and tasks that we face on a daily basis. "This society that we've co-created breeds stress and anxiety,” Craig says. “We’ve all got more to do over the course of the day than there is time to get it done.” With endless to-do lists, relational demands, and the constant pressures of being a good citizen (and that’s on a good day!) it’s not hard to see why we feel like we're always running on empty.

Craig’s solution? Strip it back to the basics. Use sound and vibration to reset the nervous system and help the body function like it was designed to. "Our downtime is just as important as our uptime, and sound and vibration are the most foundational tools to help us cope," he explains, and after hearing his take, it’s hard to argue. With inHarmony’s cutting-edge products, users can finally hit pause on the chaos and give their minds and bodies the reset and recharge they so desperately need.

What I find fascinating about inHarmony’s technology is its ability to mimic the effects and benefits of psychedelic healing—without the substances. "We harmonize the brain with the body by synchronizing the frequencies that your ears hear with the vibrations your body feels," Craig says, referring

to their flagship product, the inHarmony Sound Lounge. And with talk like that, you know I had to try it.

A Skeptic’s Journey with inHarmony’s Sound Lounge

I’ll admit it—I was skeptical. As someone who struggles to get into meditation, the idea of reaching some kind of zen through sound and vibration seemed pretty far-fetched. Still, my curiosity wouldn’t allow me to pass up the chance to try it.

I settled into the Sound Lounge and all at once, it felt like every sense but sight was engaged. The vibrations coursed through my body and the sound enveloped me. The inundation left no room for doubt or distraction. It was like my overactive mind had finally found something it couldn’t argue with, but at no point was it uncomfortable or unsettling. I felt grounded and guided, and there was a sense of safety in knowing that this experience was backed by science.

In contrast to psychedelic journeys, where there’s often a sense of apprehension about how your body will react, the inHarmony Sound Lounge is a deep dive into healing that feels totally safe and in control. It’s like meditation for the overactive mind, but with a twist. Something

close to lucid dreaming, where you’re both fully aware and totally lost in the experience.

And, surprisingly, it was fun. It reminded me that healing doesn’t always have to be this serious, solemn process, or leave you feeling exhausted. The inHarmony Sound Lounge blends relaxation with a sense of playfulness, to give you an experience that feels, strangely enough, enjoyably therapeutic.

Meeting You Where You Are

The fact that you don’t need to be a meditation guru to benefit from inHarmony’s technology is one of my favorite things about it. "Our technology serves two kinds of people: those who can't meditate and those who are seasoned meditators," Craig explains. For newbies, the sound and vibration do all the heavy lifting, ‘til you slip into a meditative state without even realizing it.

And for the pros out there? Get ready to go even deeper. "When seasoned meditators use our technology, they often reach depths they didn’t know were possible," Craig says with a grin. "And we're not creating a crutch. Over time, users can form neural pathways that allow them to reach meditative alpha brainwave states independently.”

As someone who is all about accessing what you’ve already got in order to heal and grow, this is music to my ears.

A Breakthrough for Busy Minds

In a world that’s constantly demanding more, more, more, finding a way to truly unwind isn’t just a luxury—it’s essential for our survival.

“I want people to know that stress and anxiety are the underlying root of so many ailments and issues that we deal with chronically,” Craig declares passionately. “The medical world is not correlating stress and anxiety to some of these dis-ease states that are killing Americans. But when we take it away, we see a lot of those chronic ailments fade away too.”

I mean, who doesn’t want to take advantage of the health perks of meditation? For too long, it’s felt like there’s little hope for us chatter brains and fidgety folks, but this… this just might be the lifeline we’ve been waiting for.

Books that I am Raving

About Rave READS!

Healing Your Way Forward The Co-conspirator’s Guide to an Antiracist Future

Healing Your Way Forward is more than just a book, it’s a lifeline for anyone who’s ever felt the weight of the world pressing down on their shoulders. Myisha T Hill doesn’t just write about personal growth—she lives it, breathes it, and shares it with a fervor that lights a fire in every reader’s heart. From the first page, Hill’s passion for collective healing and social justice leaps off the page, pulling you into a journey that’s as personal as it is universal.

Hill, a powerhouse in the anti-racism movement, takes us by the hand and guides us through the intricate web of trauma, identity, and liberation. Her words aren’t just a call to action, they’re a rallying cry for everyone who’s ever wanted to tear down the oppressive systems holding us back. As you read, you’ll find yourself nodding along, feeling that spark of recognition as she speaks to the struggles we all share and the healing we all desperately need.

One of the most striking things about Healing Your Way Forward is how Hill emphasizes self-awareness as the starting point for any real change. She doesn’t just tell you to look within—she practically insists on it.

Through a series of reflective exercises and deeply personal stories, Hill pushes you to face the parts of yourself that may have contributed to harm, even if unintentionally. It’s a tough pill to swallow, but as Hill says, “Healing isn’t about perfection, it’s about progress.” This book isn’t just about reading, it’s about doing the work, and Hill is right there with you every step of the way.

Hill’s focus on intersectionality is another brilliant aspect of the book. She doesn’t shy away from the tough topics—racism, sexism, homophobia— they’re all here, intertwined in a way that shows how these systems of oppression are interconnected. Hill argues, with a clarity that’s impossible to ignore, that true healing and justice can only happen when we address all these forms of oppression together. This isn’t just a book about individual healing, it’s a roadmap for collective liberation.

What makes Hill’s writing so compelling is how she weaves together theory, personal experience, and practical advice. Her voice is compassionate

yet firm, like a trusted friend who tells you what you need to hear, not just what you want to hear. She encourages readers to take responsibility for their own healing and to see how their personal growth is linked to the larger struggle for social justice. “Healing yourself is healing the world,” Hill reminds us, and it’s this interconnectedness that makes her work so vital.

Yes, the deep, personal work Hill asks of us can be daunting. There’s no sugarcoating it—engaging with this material is emotionally taxing. But Hill doesn’t leave you hanging. She offers exercises, prompts, and reflections that help guide you through the process. And while these tasks might feel open-ended, they’re designed to meet you where you are, giving you the space to explore at your own pace.

Healing Your Way Forward is a must-read for anyone serious about personal and collective liberation. If you’re a Boomer, this book is especially for you, but really, it’s for anyone ready to face their issues and work towards a better, more just world. Hill’s insights are both timely and timeless, offering her roadmap for healing that’s deeply rooted in love, justice, and accountability.

You don’t have to be on a path of reform to pick up this book, but once you do, you’ll find yourself inspired to join in the work. I can’t recommend it enough—read it, absorb it, and then pass it on to someone else who needs it. Maybe someone in your family or your community. Take it from me- This book is worth Raving About!

Heavy Metal Toxicity >>> Zeolite for Detoxification

We live in a material world. We live in a toxic world. Did you know we are exposed to heavy metals like mercury, lead, arsenic, cadmium, gadolinium and aluminum on a daily basis?

We can be exposed through our environment, the air we are breathing, the water we are drinking, the food we are eating. Ugggh!

Heavy metals are environmental pollutants and their toxicity is a problem of increasing significance for ecological, evolutionary, nutritional and environmental reasons. The most commonly found heavy metals in waste water include arsenic, cadmium, chromium, copper, lead, nickel, and zinc, all of which cause risks for human health and the environment.

Heavy metals enter the surroundings by natural means and through human activities. Various sources of heavy metals include soil erosion, natural weathering of the earth's crust, mining, industrial effluents, urban runoff, sewage discharge, insect or disease control agents applied to crops and many others.

These heavy metals accumulate in our tissues and are now causing havoc with our normal cell function, which can lead to chronic diseases like dementia, Osteoporosis, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s Disease, and cardiovascular disease.

You may be experiencing chronic fatigue, numbness, tingling, toxic obesity, headaches, paralysis, leaky gut, depression, brain fog, insomnia, memory loss, constipation, bloating, metallic taste, irritability, eye health, cardiovascular, blood pressure issues……the list goes on….

Heavy metals have six destructive effects on our bodies:

Nervous System

Heavy metals have an affinity for the nervous system, breaking down nerve cells, leading to neurotransmitter issues and depression, numbness, tingling, tremors, paralysis, and seizures, which may ultimately lead to MS, Alzheimer’s, Dementia, and Parkinson’s.

Hormones

Heavy metals affect our hormones. That could affect fertility, hypothyroidism, high cortisol, weight gain, ED, diabetes, menopause, testosterone and estrogen imbalances, and dopamine and serotonin levels.

Kidneys

Heavy metals are detoxified through the kidney and lead to kidney dysfunction, water retention, kidney failure, dialysis, etc.

Inflammation

Inflammation causes oxidative stress and the inflammation causes tissues to breakdown leading to heat, pain, swelling, chronic pain, and the inability to function.

Immune System

Heavy metals destroy our immune system causing infection, and the inability to fight off the cold, flu, cold sores, wounds and illness.

Minerals

Minerals are so critical to cell function. Minerals like magnesium (responsible for over 600 functions in the body), potassium and selenium are eaten up by heavy metals and can contribute to osteoporosis, osteopenia, and calcification.

How To Detox from Heavy Metals

You can drink more water, eat fermented foods, increase our polyphenols, consume sulfur rich foods and consume milk thistle, but if the metals are in our food and water, it may not be completely effective, and you would have to consume large quantities in order to make a positive difference.

Zeolite is the most recommended holistic solution for heavy metal detox on a regular basis.

Zeolite is a natural mineral created by a reaction between volcanic ash and pH positive water. In nature, a zeolite forms when a volcano erupts and volcanic ash combines with nearby bodies of water. This process results in a honeycomb shaped molecule that is naturally negatively charged making it an ideal toxin magnet and has a cage-like center allowing toxins to be captured in the molecule. The honeycomb zeolite structure has a negative charge and hollow cages. These hollow cages are attracted to positively charged toxins like lead (Pb+) and mercury (Hg+). It attracts the bad metals and leaves the good metals alone.

Zeolite removes toxins from the body, stabilizes PH (more alkaline), and supports and stabilizes the immune system. This can result in less fatigue and sluggishness, and a stronger ability to exercise for longer periods of time.Zeolite may also promote clearer thinking, better memory, less "brain fog", and improved school performance as well as a better mood, increased vitality and a "zest for life". In addition, taking Zeolite may assist with less pain, reduced inflammation and better digestion.

Ask Sarah...

Do you have a question about holistic wellness? We have the answers. Email your questions to ask.sarah.vcm@gmail.com.

Dear Sarah,

No matter how much sleep I get, I feel groggy in the mornings. By an hour into my day I am reaching for coffee or an energy drink, but after a while they make me jittery. I really want to find something else that is good for me to drink to help with my energy levels and was hoping you could recommend what I should try?

Thank you!

Dave

Hi Dave,

Thank you for writing in. While coffee and standard energy drinks may leave you feeling jittery and crashing later on, there are some options to try that would alleviate this. To begin, there are a variety of energy drinks that are made with a base of green tea, yerba mate tea, or green coffee beans that are great sources of sustained energy, such as Yerbae’ and Tru. When purchasing energy drinks, be sure to look for ones without additives, dyes, or added sugars. Apps like Yuka are free to use and allow you to easily scan the product to learn of any additives you should avoid. Furthermore, matcha tea can be a great option as well as mushroom coffees. Smoothies with energy boosting fruits and vegetables, such as blueberries, spinach, and citrus fruits can also provide a boost of natural sustained energy. I hope this helps you find an option to help elevate your energy without the crash.

Dear Sarah,

I was looking to buy CBD lotion the other day and saw some that had CBDA. Is this the same thing as CBD or is this something different? I feel like there

are always new things popping up and was curious if CBDA was worth trying or any different than the CBD I already use. Also, I use it for pain relief for my knees. Hope you can clarify this.

Hi Pamela,

I am happy to explain what CBDA is. While they are closely related, CBDA differs from CBD and also has some advantages. CBDA is the precursor to CBD, meaning when CBDA is exposed to heat, it converts to CBD. CBDA has many benefits, including reducing inflammation, pain, nausea, anxiety, and depression. Furthermore, research has found we may need less CBDA than CBD to experience the benefits, due to it being 19x more bioavailable than CBD. For joint pain specifically, CBDA has shown great benefit in trials reducing both pain and inflammation and I definitely recommend giving it a try.

Dear Sarah,

I went to get a massage the other day, and noticed they had a sauna with red light therapy. I get massages for pain specifically and I was curious if you think sauna is something that could actually help with pain and if it's worth a try?

Hi Debbie,

Thank you so much for writing in. Red light therapy can be a great ally for those with pain and overall health and wellness. The red light penetrates the skin at a deeper level, promoting cell regeneration and improving circulation.

This can help with muscle recovery, reduce inflammation, and even boost collagen production. People often use red light therapy to help with chronic pain, skin conditions, and to accelerate healing from injuries. When paired with a sauna, not only do you get the detoxifying and relaxing benefits of the sauna, but the red light adds an extra layer of therapeutic effects. I would recommend giving it a go, the best part is, all you have to lose is pain.

Cooking with Chris

I hope you all enjoyed the asian-inspired recipe last month. I feel like so much has happened since last writing. It’s great to have been a part of this publication. I still remember the first article. Each one feels the same, the excitement, the sharing the love of food! The things that have transpired throughout this journey. The people that have called me for advice over the years that have seen this magazine. Just know that I appreciate you all. Things can happen so fast. This life is special. Waking up is a blessing, everything else is the bonus!

Now let’s get to it.

Chicken Parmesan

Ingredients:

1 box of spaghetti

3 small cans of Cento San Marzano tomatoes

2 small cans of tomato paste

1 pack of organic chicken breasts

fresh basil

1 pack of dried porcini mushrooms

1 bag of shredded mozzarella

grated parmesan cheese

herbs de provence

sage

(4) 2 oz ramekin salt and pepper

1 container of breadcrumbs

parsley

eggs flour

6 oz basil oil

1 chopped onion

3 crushed garlic cloves

1 bottle of extra virgin olive oil

INSTRUCTIONS:

First, get a big pot of water and bring to a boil. This will take some time so do this while you create the chicken cutlets.

Next, start your pomodoro sauce. This also takes time. Turn to medium heat and pour a fair amount of oil into your pot. Then add your onions, garlic, and a little salt. Let that get to a beautiful golden brown. This is called glazing. It also helps protect you from burning the bottom while cooking. Once ready, put your tomatoes in. Get to temp and add in your tomato paste. Mix everything thoroughly. Let it get to temp and toss in half of your herbs de provence and the mushrooms. Stir and put a lid on the pot. Keep at a mediumlow setting and let it cook.

Now, grab your chicken and butterfly it. Once that’s done,

cut each into 3-4 pieces. Put them in a ziploc bag or cover with plastic wrap. Use a rolling pin or tenderizer mallet to gently flatten. Wash your hands. Stir your sauce. Toss some fresh basil in and stir again. Check the temp and keep a gentle heat.

Now take three bowls or containers and put flour in one, eggs in another, and breadcrumbs in the last. Stir your eggs while adding salt, pepper, and sage. Add chopped parsley and some grated parm to the breadcrumbs plus some herbs de provence. You can try nutritional yeast too, it’s delicious! Place each cutlet first into the flour, then the egg and finally the breadcrumbs. When in the breadcrumbs make sure to press down each one to ensure a good covering. Check your sauce. Add your noodles to the now boiling water along with some salt. Set a timer and cook your noodles.

Turn your oven to broil.

Take a decent sized saucepan, add some EVOO and turn to a medium heat. Once ready, start cooking each cutlet until golden brown on each side. Place to the side on a paper towel. Then check your sauce. The longer you let the sauce cook, the better it is. Now, the noodles should be done, drain them and set aside. Grab a small pan, your cheese and a ladle. Place your cutlets onto the pan then put a dollop of sauce and a small handful of cheese. Put into the oven and let the cheese melt. There you go! You just made chicken parmesan! Now grab some noodles and sauce, add a fresh cutlet on top then finish with a drizzle of basil oil and fresh basil. Enjoy! Ciao!

So whether you're a seasoned chef or just getting started, join us in the kitchen and enjoy these recipes made with love and a little bit of magic!

SALAD I NGREDIENTS:

2 cups kale, finely chopped

1 cup red cabbage, thinly sliced

1 cup cooked chicken breast, shredded

1/2 cup strawberries, sliced

1/2 cup pomegranate seeds

1/2 cup mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries)

1/4 cup crushed nuts (e.g., walnuts or almonds)

1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese (optional, if dairy-free not required)

DRESSING I NGREDIENTS:

2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

1-2 teaspoons CBD oil (adjust based on preferred dosage)

SALAD PREPARATION:

In a large mixing bowl, add the finely chopped kale and massage it lightly with your hands for about 1-2 minutes to soften. Add the shredded red cabbage, cooked chicken, sliced strawberries,

pomegranate seeds, mixed berries, and crushed nuts. Toss everything together gently.

DRESSING PREPARATION:

In a small bowl, combine the apple cider vinegar, balsamic vinegar, black pepper, and lemon juice. Whisk until well combined. Slowly drizzle in the extra virgin olive oil while continuing to whisk, creating a smooth emulsion. Add the CBD oil and whisk again until fully incorporated. Adjust the dosage based on your preferred amount (start with 1 teaspoon if you’re new to CBD and gradually increase).

Pour the CBD-infused dressing over the salad and toss to coat evenly. Serve immediately, garnishing with extra berries or nuts if desired.

SPARKLER I NGREDIENTS:

1/2 cup mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries)

1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice

1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice

1 tablespoon honey or agave syrup (optional, adjust to taste)

2-3 drops of CBD oil (optional, adjust based on preferred dosage)

1 cup sparkling water (plain or berry-flavored)

Ice cubes

Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Slices of lemon or orange for garnish

SPARKLER PREPARATION:

In a small bowl, mash the mixed berries with a fork until they are well crushed. This will release the juices and create a berry puree. Strain the berry mixture through a fine sieve into a glass, pressing down to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the pulp.

Mix the Citrus Base: In a separate glass or small pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed orange juice and lemon juice. If you prefer a sweeter mocktail, add honey or agave syrup to the citrus mixture and stir until dissolved.

Combine and Add CBD: Add the strained berry juice to the citrus mixture and stir well. If you’re including CBD oil, add 2-3 drops into the mixture and stir until fully incorporated. Fill a serving glass with ice cubes. Pour the berry citrus mixture over the ice. Top with sparkling water and stir gently to combine. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and slices of lemon or orange.

FLORA VEGA

Garlic Haze Flower

An entire day was spent outside with Garlic Haze on hand while rolling around Vegas on my electric skateboard. Ready for adventure, all I packed was a lunch and this Flora Vega flower. This flower is a cross between GMO (also known as GMO Garlic Cookies) and Purple Haze. GMO is a hybrid strain derived from Girl Scout Cookies and Chemdog. Purple Haze stems from Purple Thai (a landrace strain) and Haze, both of which are sativas. Taking a break on a park bench, with the first puff, I had a headchange. I finished that bowl and felt the debonair dismissal of stress and jumped back on my e-board with a newfound feeling of overall wellness. My board flies and it also helps me feel free and nonchalant. I was doing about 35pmh but it felt like 15. Everything was in slow motion, a direct result of the Garlic Haze. After my second smoke break, I felt motivated and energized with peculiar curiosity, but if I would have spread out a blanket in some grass, I would have passed out. limonene is at the bottom of the terpene list so I’m going to call Garlic Haze an indica-dominant hybrid. It definitely was a key factor for having such a pleasant day.
