NATURE'S CHEMISTRY Experience the Difference >>>

It has been over 4 years since the last time we met up with Nature’s Chemistry for our June 2019 cover edition. Since that time, not a lot has changed. The same four local owners/ operators are running the show making sure the product that hits the shelves is top quality and a great experience for the consumer. “We are still trying to improve every day and I don’t think we will ever stop,” says head grower and co-owner Jason Yazdanpanah. “We have a great team that comes to work every day and helps keep the train moving in the right direction,” he added.

There has not been much turnover at Nature’s Chemistry which is evident by the familiar faces from the last time we visited. Nature’s Chemistry employs a very diverse staff of 53% female and 73% racially or sexually diverse. Diversity in the workplace is something they have strived for since day one. The ownership structure is also very diverse. One thing that this team is proud of is the fact that they were able to keep people working during Covid. “It was a tremendous challenge, but it was important to us to make sure everyone was able to receive a work paycheck and provide for their families during that rough time.” says co-owner Ari Yazdanpanah. Family atmosphere and comradery is quite present as one walks the corridors and rooms of the NC facility. There is no surprise as to why they are able to produce such great flower, as this belief system resonates to all aspects of their business. It is easy to see that NC will have the same core for a

long time to come.

What was first considered a “new” industry is not so “new” anymore. Many things have changed in the marketplace which has brought many challenges to companies. One of them is the influx of multiple brands that have flooded the market. Although this has been challenging, Nature’s Chemistry has continued to stick to customer loyalty and putting out a consistent product. “We value our relationships with our customers, dispensaries, and production facilities. They are the driving force behind our product” says co-owner Andy Hitchcock. Nature’s Chemistry has also been doing a lot to give back. They recently partnered with the Wounded Warrior Project and will be presenting them a check for a promotion they ran with local dispensaries during the month of July. Giving back is important to them. The four owners have been part of this community for over 40 years. All four attended high school in Las Vegas and two of them graduated from UNLV. They have experienced first-hand the growth of our wonderful city and the excitement that has come along with it. “This was actually a small town when we were kids. Although the population has skyrocketed, there is still a great sense of community in Las Vegas” says co-owner Alex Amelburu.

Nature’s Chemistry has worked very hard to build a brand which is widely recognized in our state. They seem to be doing so many things right which is a testament to their exceptional

12 Nevada's Original Cannabis Resource // Since 2014

quality flower and consistency. They have built a brand that they can be proud of, which is a good indication of why their flower is in almost every dispensary throughout the state. NC vows to continue to work hard, be diligent, adapt and be conscious of the needs of their community, vendors and staff while continuing to be one of the top brands in the state.

Kushberry Farms is a state-of-the-art greenhouse cultivation and production facility in North Las Vegas, NV.Their team of passionate growers obsess over producing the best tastes and smells each strain has to offer. Unlike the many one-dimensional growers who are merely focused on THC levels, they craft their cannabis with an emphasis on maximizing terpene levels so that consumers experience the best of what cannabis has to offer. No grow light can offer what the sun can in terms of developing a plant, so they use as much sunlight as possible throughout the growth cycle of our plants. Then, their “touchless” post-harvest drying, and curing allows for maximum terpene preservation. In the end, when their flower is consumed, you will not only taste and smell some of the best cannabis on the market, but you will experience the maximum euphoric effects and quickly be on your way to good times!

Advocating for Nevada DANIELLE GALLANT >>>

If there’s one important governmental lesson that Nevada politics has proven, it’s that state politics and lawmaking processes aren’t as strictly bipartisan as they are on the federal level when it comes to cannabis reform. Whereas most conservatives in the United States Congress and Senate wouldn’t ever consider supporting a bill initially sponsored by liberals, one would be surprised when viewing how Republican legislators in The Silver State have voted on matters related to cannabis.

In 2021, four different Republican Assembly members voted in favor of Assemblyman Steve Yeager’s Assembly Bill 341 which legalized the still yet-to-open cannabis consumption lounges. In the Senate, the number of Republican representatives who voted in favor of AB 341 was even higher, as only one of the then nine Nevada Senate Republicans voted against the measure. Even more socially conservative legislators who openly admit that they have never tried cannabis and have no plans to do so voted to allow for consumption lounges in Nevada.

One of the many groundbreaking pieces of cannabis reform to be approved by the Nevada Legislature was Assembly Joint Resolution 8. This resolution will urge Congress to deschedule cannabis from the highest ranking and most illicit category of DEA’s Controlled Substances List, a legal reform that even the most anti-cannabis Republicans could probably admit is necessary given the current decently widespread legality and medical usage of cannabis. AJR 8 was voted against by only three Republicans in the Senate and five Republicans in the House.

Even for the Sheriff-turned-governor of the state that has America’s adult playground within its border, Governor Lombardo has shown a surprising amount of support for not only Nevada cannabis but also post-Roe abortion-related legal protections.

While the undemocratic tribalism remains in the United States Congress and Senate, it’s far more purple and centrist on various state levels. In the Nevada Legislature, a recently elected Nevada Assembly Republican is also showing similarly purple stances on certain issues, one of them definitely being cannabis.

In a political party with members as socially conservative as former Vice President Mike Pence and Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell, it’s quite rare for a Republican to have hosted their wedding at the notorious desert art show/temporary pop-up community that is Burning Man. Yet, District 23’s Assembly member has done just that along with several other interesting endeavors in life.

Originally from California, District 23 Assemblywoman Danielle Gallant actually attended college across the country at Auburn

University in Alabama and lived in Georgia for a number of years. Eventually, she moved back to the West Coast and started a family, specifically to San Francisco. Unfortunately though, Gallant saw the several glaring and widespread issues that both San Fran and California started facing and decided a few changes were in order.

First, Gallant received her broker’s license and got into property management. Secondly, Gallant and her growing family were just a couple of the hundreds of thousands of people that left California in recent years for lower costs of living in other states.

One of the people most influential when it came to inspiring Gallant’s eventual foray into politics was Nevada State Senator Scott Hammond. Gallant knocked on doors, passed out information and otherwise volunteered for his campaign. Soon enough, Hammond’s campaign manager saw both the dedication and the passion for local matters that Gallant possessed and brought up the idea of her running for public office.

Originally, Gallant was disinterested in campaigning for an Assembly seat. However as laws and local ordinances changed or were otherwise amended regarding property management and tenant/landlord relationship as well as rent control legislation, Gallant became increasingly interested in public office and even traveled up to Carson City to testify regarding these property ownership and renting measures that the Nevada Legislature were considering.

The COVID pandemic soon took place after months of “stopping the spread” and because of several more measures that were instituted and the many economic issues that arose because of the global pandemic, Gallant saw all these issues that she testified in Carson City about getting significantly exacerbated. In these tense moments, Gallant received the news that the then District 23 Assemblyman Glen Leavitt wouldn’t be seeking re-election.

“I didn’t see any other choice and I felt compelled to run, because nobody was advocating for my owners, for small businesses, for our kids.” Gallant explained. “I understand that people were scared about COVID, but I think more and more we’re learning that our reaction to it was wrong. The government was forcing my landlords to carry a burden that some of them couldn’t do. We need people that remember what it’s like to be dirt poor and know what it’s like to pull yourself up from your bootstraps and continue to work with people that aren’t just in their bubble.”

In the 2022 election, Gallant won her election for the District 23 Assembly seat by a strong margin of almost 20 percent, or more than 7,600 votes, against her opponent from the Democratic Party, attorney Elizabeth Brickfield. In terms of geographic size,

22 Nevada's Original Cannabis Resource // Since 2014

Assemblywoman Gallant has the third largest Assembly district in Nevada and it extends all the way from Boulder City down to Bullhead City and Fort Mohave.

Like many Nevadan representatives, an issue that Gallant is particularly passionate about is the state’s very lackluster education system compared to other states. Along with being strongly in favor of school choice, Gallant sees the current state of Nevada’s education system as an issue of unnecessary or misguided spending as opposed to lack of funding or teachers’ effort.

“CCSD hasn’t been audited (by the Legislature) in over 20 years, but yet they keep asking us for more money but refuse to tell us how they’re spending it. We have to stop pigeonholing students into an area and allow parents to have a school voucher and take it to the school of their choice that fits. Maybe it’s public school, maybe it’s private school, maybe it’s a charter school or maybe it’s homeschooling.”

On the subject of the Nevada cannabis industry, Gallant’s stance is similar to that of other younger conservative representatives.

“I think we rolled out recreational cannabis very responsibly. I’m impressed with our legislators that did their research, visiting states that have already legalized and saw what worked and didn’t work. I think that’s been amazing. I also think that it’s been amazing to finally normalize cannabis. I’ve been saying since high school that alcohol is so much more dangerous than cannabis and yet we have minimal prohibitions on alcohol purchasing.”

Gallant supports the previously flourishing but currently struggling Nevada cannabis industry to such an open extent that she recently spoke at the August 2023 meeting of the Chamber of Cannabis hosted at the Lexi Hotel. Moreover, she voted in favor of both Senate Bill 277 and Assembly Joint Resolution 8 during the 2023 Legislative Session. In fact, Gallant’s vote served as an outlier from her party, as she was the only Republican Assembly member to vote in favor of SB 277. Gallant also co-sponsored the aforementioned AJR 8.

“We have legalized cannabis and it’s time we start treating it like a legit business and not like they’re doing something illegal. The way the CCB treats their partners in this industry. The CCB wouldn’t exist if the cannabis industry didn’t exist, so the fact that they’re taking steps that have been putting people out of business is unconscionable.”

In discussing the unfortunately still present prohibitionist mindsets that exist among a decent amount of the Republican Party, Gallant believes that those viewpoints arise from a few different factors that could impact one’s life and view on the very popular plant. Some of the opposition exists due to the fact that some Republicans are devoutly religious and likely disapprove of any intoxicant usage for non-medical purposes. A considerable number of elected Republicans, such as Governor Lombardo, also come from a law enforcement background, so they tend to associate any drug usage as an express train ticket to crime and delinquency.

Especially with candidates such as former President Trump who run so heavily on a platform of “bringing jobs and production back to America”, it’s strange that they don’t support an industry that is the new epitome of American-made jobs and products. States with legal cannabis are also so strictly regulated that cannabis products can’t even leave the state they’re originally manufactured in or they risk violating federal law.

A pro-business Republican, Gallant supported SB 277 not only due to the business possibilities of doubling the daily purchasing limit but also because she doesn’t believe in purchasing limits for cannabis when there’s not similar purchasing limits for alcohol. And given the $114 million shortfall that

“We’re supposed to be the party of personal choice. Republicans didn’t like mask mandates, so why mandate how much cannabis someone can buy?”

When it comes to advocating cannabis to Republican lawmakers who may still be on the fence about cannabis, Gallant recommends a few different strategies. First, learn what the lawmaker’s current stance on the issue is and what objections they may have to cannabis reform.

“There’s one legislator who’s very pro-veteran. And so for SB 277, I sat down with him and I asked how many veterans live in rural areas and have to drive an hour to go get cannabis. And I mentioned that wouldn’t it be better if they didn’t have to drive as much? They already have an ailment. So, I was able to make that argument with him.

But I think it’s a lost cause with most legislators that come from a police background. I just haven’t found a workaround and they’re just so ingrained in the work they did and the war on drugs.”

Ask the Leaf Nurse! Charlotte’s Web: A Special (Shared) Story

Charlotte Figi: Her Story

Charlotte’s story is one of ingenuity, love, and the overcoming of a condition that many others have not survived. To hear Charlotte’s family tell it, her survival was thanks to the creation of an incredible strain of CBD. When she was just three years old, young Charlotte Figi experienced her first seizure. Unfortunately, it was the first of many, as her seizures would only continue as she aged. Along the way, the seizures became not only more frequent but also more severe; by the time she was five, Charlotte was suffering from about 300 seizures a week. The impact on her was severe enough that Charlotte's parents decided to put her into a medically induced coma until more answers became apparent.

The family learned Charlotte had a rare form of epilepsy known as Dravet Syndrome. Dravet Syndrome begins when one is just an infant and is believed to be caused by a mutation in the SCN1A gene. Additionally, Dravet Syndrome is often comorbid with other conditions, meaning that it often occurs in tandem with other related health problems.

These issues aren't the only things that make a Dravet Syndrome diagnosis difficult to receive. It also has an unusually high mortality rate for epileptic conditions due to a phenomenon known as Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy, or SUDEP. Dravet Syndrome actually has the highest SUDEP rate for all epileptic disorders. What all of this means is that Charlotte's condition was serious and potentially lifethreatening. Eventually, the effects of the seizures began taking a serious toll on her body. It was at this point that her mother, Paige Figi, began to look for alternative treatment options that could not only save her daughter's life but also allow her to live comfortably and happily.

The Healing Potential of CBD

Paige Figi met a man named Joel Stanley,

one of the two Stanley brothers. The brothers had previously claimed to have created a hemp extract with no psychoactive effects specially designed to treat epilepsy. With a note from Charlotte's pediatrician, the Figi parents decided to use the Stanley Brothers' new strain to help their daughter. The results were astounding.

Charlotte consumed hemp as an extracted CBD oil. After just a few treatments, the girl who had been suffering from nearly 300 seizures a week eventually went a full week without a single seizure. Just as importantly, the CBD oil had appeared to do much more than relieve her epilepsy – Charlotte was able to start living a normal childhood, a life that hadn’t been possible for her before.

Charlotte Becomes a Legend

Charlotte’s mother knew at this point that Charlotte hadn’t just beaten the odds; with the help of the special strain of CBD oil, they were being trampled on. Charlotte Figi was thriving and happy thanks to the strain provided by the Stanley Brothers. This strain would become known as Charlotte’s Web, in honor of Charlotte Figi’s bravery, spirit, and ability to bring a community together to support her. She wasn’t simply a survivor: she was very quickly becoming a legend. In 2013, Sanjay Gupta, then CNN Chief Medical Correspondent, created the documentary Weed chronicling his changing perspective on the cannabis plant. After diving into research and meeting patients like Charlotte, Gupta became a vocal proponent of medical cannabis.

Unfortunately, while Charlotte’s name has been immortalized forever by the Charlotte’s Web strain, made possible by the continuous efforts of the Stanely Brothers and the story of her incredible survival and comeback, Charlotte passed away in 2020. Her life will not be defined by her passing, though but instead remembered for her strength. Today, much of the world knows the story of the strong, beautiful young girl who was able to

live a happy, healthy life thanks to the love of her parents, the support of her community, and the creation of the Charlotte’s Web hemp strain.

The Impact of Charlotte Figi and the Spread of Charlotte’s Web

Charlotte's story is more than a heartwarming story of overcoming hardships. In fact, it's more than an example of medical cannabis changing a person's life because Charlotte's impact has extended far beyond that. Charlotte's story, and the creation of Charlotte’s Web, have done wonders for the advancement of CBD research, medical cannabis acceptance, and the more widespread availability of this treatment. Charlotte’s story is credited with saving the lives of other children afflicted with Dravet Syndrome. The story of Charlotte Figi, a young girl helped by the power of CBD, has increased the likelihood that more people can be helped in the exact same way.

After news of Charlotte's successful treatment began to spread, a woman named Heather Jackson learned about Charlotte’s Web. She decided to try the strain on her son, Zaki. As a result, Zaki was the second child to ever be treated with Charlotte’s Web. Zaki’s recovery may not have spurred as many headlines as Charlotte’s, but it proved that the power of the strain wasn’t lightning in a bottle – it could be repeated with other patients in need.

Charlotte’s Web was really helping people, and Paige and Heather decided that more people needed access to this therapeutic strain. In 2013, the mothers teamed up with the Stanley Brothers to found a non-profit organization known as Realm of Caring. The goal of this organization was to provide people with the support they needed while being treated with Charlotte’s Web. Charlotte and Zaki were far from the only children suffering from Dravet Syndrome, and they were far from the only children

>>>

the organization felt could benefit from the strain. In 2014, just a year after Charlotte’s story began to spread, over 15,000 families were waiting for their own bottles of Charlotte’s Web extract. Unfortunately, since not all of those families lived in Colorado, not all of them had easy, legal access to the strain. That’s where Realm of Caring stepped in – they helped the growing Charlotte’s Web community move over 500 families to the state so that they could access the treatment they needed.

Charlotte’s Legacy Continues

After Charlotte’s passing in 2020, the effort to keep her legacy alive by helping others has only grown. April 7th is now known as Charlotte Figi Day in Colorado, ensuring that her story will never be forgotten. Meanwhile, the Charlotte’s Web organization has started the Charlotte Figi Family Grant Program. This program awards families with a year’s supply of Charlotte’s Web, with families selected by Realm of Caring based on need. One other major impact of Charlotte’s story that can’t be ignored is the effect it had on medical cannabis laws and regulations across the US. As is evidenced by its current legal status in many states, cannabis is a plant with a complicated history in the United States. Though it had welldocumented therapeutic benefits, cannabis was banned for decades as part of a federal battle against illicit drug use. As a result, cannabis research ground to a halt in much of the country.

Charlotte's survival and recovery showed the world that the right strain of cannabis could work wonders, doing what other forms of medication simply couldn't without the harsh side effects. In addition, proponents

stressed that these benefits could be achieved without the patient experiencing a psychoactive high, something that had made many people hesitant to try cannabis products. Across the country, lawmakers, potential patients, and the general public were taking notice of the girl who'd all but defeated Dravet Syndrome with the use of a specific strain of CBD, and minds were beginning to change. Medical marijuana legalization was spreading, and Charlotte Figi played a prominent role in making it happen. Of course, it wasn’t just Charlotte’s Web that had been approved for use as a therapy, nor was it just Dravet Syndrome that the laws were combatting. There are many other debilitating illnesses that can be addressed with the use of cannabis, and Charlotte’s Web is only one strain. Still, in Florida, medical legalization occurred thanks in part to Charlotte and her battle with Dravet Syndrome.

The Facts about Medical Cannabis

With the spread of strains like Charlotte’s Web and the growing awareness about how cannabis can provide therapeutic benefits without causing adverse or psychoactive effects, it's important to understand exactly how medical marijuana is able to help people. Charlotte's story is a powerful example of what medical cannabis can do and a primary reason it's so important to continue cannabis research.

While the use of cannabis to treat epilepsy has been more widely discussed, researched, and analyzed since Charlotte's survival in 2012, evidence of cannabis' ability to address epilepsy has been recognized since the 1990s. It was then that researchers discovered that men were

less likely to have seizures if they smoked marijuana. Charlotte's story reignited public interest in the topic, and since then, a variety of studies have been conducted regarding cannabis and epilepsy. Many people report that, like Charlotte, their seizures become less frequent with the use of cannabis. The science behind why cannabis appears to help address epilepsy is complex. In general, the cannabinoids found in cannabis, including THC, CBD, and a host of others, appear to demonstrate a variety of medical and therapeutic benefits as they interact with the endocannabinoid system in the body. This system was designed to interact with endocannabinoids made within the body but can also be modulated by structurally similar cannabinoid molecules found in cannabis. The ECS appears to control a variety of functions, including sleep, pain, inflammation, and more. This is especially true when it comes to epilepsy. CBD, in particular, activates what's known as CB1R receptors, a cannabinoid receptor found in the brain, which seems to modulate the frequency and severity of seizures. In short, when the Stanley Brothers first provided their new strain to Charlotte Figi and her family, they were providing a compound that worked with her body’s endocannabinoid receptors to make her seizures less debilitating. As research into Charlotte’s Web and other cannabis strains continues, we expect to learn even more about what cannabis can do to help people with a variety of conditions.

Ask Sarah...

Do you have a question about cannabis and wellness? We have the answers. Email your questions to ask.sarah.vcm@gmail.com

I’ve been hearing CBD can help with anxiety. I’ve never tried it yet as it makes me a bit anxious that it may not help and could make my anxiety worse like THC does. Do you know if CBD can actually help anxiety and if it’s worth trying? Thank you.

Melissa G

Hi Melissa,

Thanks so much for your question. I understand your hesitation and hope I can help. While THC can induce anxiety due to its psychoactive effects, CBD has none. Additionally, research has found CBD has great potential in helping patients with anxiety. CBD interacts with the body’s serotonin (5-HT1A) receptor, which is the same receptor pharmaceutical anti-anxiety medications also target. Through this action CBD can help to reduce both anxiety and depression and is a great plant-derived option to try. If you are sensitive to THC, opt for a broad spectrum or isolate CBD product to avoid THC completely. A CBD smokable can offer a rapid onset of relief, making them ideal for breakthrough anxiety throughout the day, while an edible or tincture can offer sustained relief throughout your day.

Hi Sarah,

I use cannabis as my medicine and when my go-to strains are not available, it makes my symptoms so much more prevalent. How do I know which strains to try when this happens? For example, my favorites are “Slap and Tickle”, and “Grape 98”. Thank you.

Fred

Thank you for your question. I had this same problem when I first started using cannabis and am happy to help. The first thing you need to do is identify what the most prevalent terpenes are in your favorite strains. Thankfully in Nevada, we can find this information on the packaging. Terpenes not only provide the scent and flavor of cannabis, but also contribute to the effects. By knowing the key terpenes present in your favorite strain, we can then match them to any strain with the same terpenes and get the same effects. For example, if your favorite strains always have high myrcene; you would want to buy strains with high myrcene. While the strain names can be fun, truly they mean nothing. Identifying our favorite terpenes allows us to easily get the effects we desire from our cannabis products and removes the constraints of our ‘favorite strains’.

Hi Sarah,

In my free time I love to paint and of course, enjoy cannabis while I do. I’ve been in a bit of a creative rut and wanted to know what strains you might recommend for helping me dive back into my art. Thanks so much.

Joe

Hi Joe,

Cannabis can be a great way to get the creative juices going. Research has discovered cannabis can help us to perceive ideas as more creative and allows our ideas and creative thought process to flow more freely. When choosing

your flower, opt for a strain with medium to lower levels of THC to experience a milder euphoria, and something that is limonene dominant for an uplifting, energizing, and creative experience.

Co; a company offering both CBD and hempderived Delta-9 edible infusions allowing for an option between therapeutic applications and enhanced hemp experiences.

The BCB Mastermind is coming to Las Vegas in November during MJBizCon to celebrate, connect, and reunite. They are hosting over 170+ BCB Mastermind students for the Las Vegas activation happening during MJBizCon!

This program offers an immersive experience that empowers minority-owned cannabis businesses to thrive in the cannabis industry with best-in-class leadership training and a unique “next-level “business development curriculum.

About the BCB Mastermind

The BCB Mastermind is a free executive training program for BIPOC business owners in cannabis/minority business owners in cannabis, and is sponsored by Parallel, a nationwide vertically-integrated, multi-state cannabis company. Student business owners register for a six-week online cohort coupled with 2 days of classroom, in-person meet ups.

The cohort is a group of cannabis founders and professionals, and they complete structured exercises receiving expert training from leading subject matter experts and practitioners from the industry. When the program is completed, BCB Mastermind graduates are equipped with the business plans, knowledge, network, and know how to scale their businesses into ones that reflect their potential.

This is more than important in an industry that has 20-28 thousand cannabis businesses in the United States, but with only 15.4% of them being minority owned.

The BCB Mastermind and the Instructors

Brandon L. Wyatt, Esq., is a Maryland attorney, decorated army combat paratrooper, and disabled veteran. He attended Howard University School of Law and the Executive Business Administration program at The George Washington University. He has crafted

He has been counsel for multiple Fortune 500 entities, and runs an award winning multidisciplinary firm that provides management consulting and business development services to over 22 minority and women 8A, VA SDVOSB, and Maryland CBE/MBE entities. He has applied his engineering, analytical skills, and project management expertise toward helping establish numerous businesses that practice corporate social responsibility and diversity in the cannabis industry.

Todd is also the board chair of the Minority Cannabis Business Association (MCBA), and has has forged a relationship between the MCBA and Cannabis Venture Capital Firm, Merida Capital Partners; in an effort to lower barriers to entry for minorities into the Cannabis Industry through the Inclusive Industry (i2) Accelerator. Todd’s extensive experience reflects his commitment to creating and maintaining diversity in the cannabis industry, through professional development, community engagement and governmental collaboration.

More About the BCB Mastermind in Las Vegas

During the biggest cannabis conference in the country, the BCB Mastermind is hosting its largest meet up to date. I had an opportunity to cover this year's southern cohort while they were in Tampa, sponsored by Siva Seed

I had the opportunity to sit down with Todd and Brandon to discuss the BCB Mastermind and about what’s happening in Las Vegas this year. My questions started with why Brandon and Todd say that they started the program because black and brown people represent less than 4% ownership in the cannabis industry. They explained that:

“This program was created to provide the nation's top BIPOC CEOs with the knowledge, network, and capital required to facilitate a competitive advantage and sustainability in the cannabis industry”.

One of the main focuses and perks of the BCB Mastermind is community. Todd and Brandon state:

“Beyond academic growth, students forge meaningful connections and professional partnerships with their peers, all while ardently pursuing their aspirations in the cannabis industry”.

I asked about Las Vegas and they stated:

“We're thrilled to continue to help foster collaboration and growth within our communities. Picture an event designed to ignite connections and celebrate each businesses’ unique strengths and diverse perspectives. At the same time, the activation will be a dynamic moment where all BCB mastermind trained entrepreneurs can integrate ecosystems and articulate their true needs and abilities”.

You can find the BCB Mastermind in Las Vegas November 28- December 1. To learn more about the BCB Mastermind and if you qualify, check out their website: www.bcbmastermind. com.

KNOWWHERETOSMOKE.COM AN ALL NEW, MULTI-FACETED PLATFORM >>>

A new chapter for the Nevada cannabis industry began with the signing of Assembly Bill 341, when Assemblyman Steve Yeager sponsored and pushed the bill through the Legislature that would legalize cannabis consumption lounges in the Silver State. And with that, a new tremendous revenue source and opportunity for the state’s industry to vastly expand was created. Given the average of 40 million tourists that Las Vegas receives every year and the thousands of locals who also consume, the economic and creative possibilities for the consumption lounges in Vegas will be nearly endless.

As the lounges and other cannabis-friendly locations become established in this exciting desert oasis, consumers and tourists may need a platform to find out where these businesses are and how to support them. Luckily for those consumers, two experienced cannabis advocates and professionals are collaborating on a project that will bring the well-deserved attention to these new businesses and the interesting people who will attend those venues.

Since 2017, Jenn Tramaglino has been working in the Nevada cannabis scene. She helped launch the Nevada edition of Dope Magazine and founded the marketing and event production company Cannect Hospitality among many endeavors. Before venturing into cannabis, Jenn T. was a Chief Executive within the Vegas restaurant and nightclub industry for many years.

“We started Cannect when my partners and I saw there was a gap between cannabis retail, the cannabis brands and cannabis hospitality, hospitality meaning guest interactions outside of retail sales. Things like cannabis consumption lounges, sponsored

events, trade show activations and hosted parties." Jenn T. recollected.

While Cannect was always envisioned to have a "concierge" component for the Nevada cannabis community, the team behind the company was unsure how exactly they could fulfill those concierge-like duties, until a collaboration with their long-time industry partner, Shannon Dorn came about.

"Cannect Hospitality has been working on consumption lounge development as a service to cannabis clients since 2018. This year, we linked up with Shannon from Dope Foto to launch a guest-facing product, KNOWHERETOSMOKE.COM, an online listing service for consumption lounges and mobile portrait studio for "smoketography" at the

lounges.”

Being a brilliant collaboration featuring DopeFoto.com founder Shannon Dorn and Jenn T., KNOWHERETOSMOKE.com will be a detailed directory that lists all the locations where one can legally consume cannabis against a sea of misinformation regarding public consumption rules in Las Vegas.

“It’s a benefit for the cannabis brands and companies because they get to advertise their products and locations with us, but it’s also an amenity to the tourism market because we’re offering information, resources and safe locations to consume cannabis. I think a lot of guests coming to Las Vegas hear that cannabis is "legal" and they assume it's a free-for-all, when in fact you aren't really allowed to smoke too many places” Jenn explained.

As a multi-faceted platform, KNOWHERETOSMOKE.com will be a directory site that will lead guests to these consumptionfriendly businesses and will also offer guest portrait photography. Guests will be able to commemorate their visit to the lounge with a live action, professional photo sesh with a photographer. Digital downloads, prints and souvenirs with photos from the sesh will all be available on the website.

“For the industry, we’re an advertising platform and for the guests, we’re a lounge directory and souvenir photo service" Jenn summarized.

All of the KNOWHERETOSMOKE. COM photography services will be curated by Shannon and photos will be shot by members from the Dope Foto team. Shannon has been supporting the cannabis industry with her unique style of classic product and timeless lifestyle

photography since 2016, shooting many of the photos brands and companies use today. Shannon’s work has been featured in Vegas Cannabis Magazine, Tahoe Cannabis Magazine, High Times, Ganjapreneur and Dope Magazine among other publications.

Shannon told us, “During the first KNOWHERETOSMOKE.com shoot, we got to see how much fun our guests had in the booth and how special it was to capture the true essence of folks while they went from lighting up to smiling and laughing. It’s an honor for me to get to make people feel good about themselves and create long lasting memories with my photos.”

As the Nevada consumption lounges become an eventual reality and an inevitable success for both tourists and locals alike, KNOWHERETOSMOKE.com has plans to expand alongside Nevada’s latest addition to the many cannabis tourist attractions in town.

"Our future plans are to have a listing for every legal lounge on our website, have our photography crew out at all the fun happenings, and to drive traffic to all our favorite spots. We are really excited about getting to partner with the industry in this new way." Jenn T. described.

Any consumption lounges that wish to get a listing on KNOWHERETOSMOKE.com or brands that are interested in advertising with KNOWHERETOSMOKE.com can reach out to hi@knowheretosmoke.com. Advertising opportunities will include co-branded placements on billboards, print magazines ads, social media campaigns, web banners and more. CANNABIS >>>

Did you know we can utilize herbs and other plants the same way we use cannabis? We can even blend them with our favorite flower to enhance its effects. Cannabis is not the only plant people have been smoking for thousands of years. Hundreds of herbs and plants have been utilized across a wide range of cultures for medicinal, spiritual, and recreational purposes. In fact, archaeologists linked the first smoking pipe that was made of copper to around 2000 BC discovered in Egyptian tombs. In North America, indigenous communities use many smokable herbs for a variety of reasons, harnessing the gifts of mother nature. Just like our favorite cannabis strains, herbs have a wide variety of properties that help to produce their effects that we can harness to elevate the effects of our favorite strains, or experience similar effects without the euphoria THC can bring. While there are many plants and herbs that are safe to smoke, let’s dive into three that are commonly used in herbal blends today.

exposure to lavender aromatherapy reduced individuals’ cortisol or stress hormone levels by more than 60 percent. This powerful herb also has anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety, and neuroprotective properties. When added to cannabis, individuals have reported feeling calmer, with a deep level of body relaxation.

Lavender

Lavender has been used for centuries for medicinal purposes and was even prescribed in medieval times as an anticonvulsant and to help patients with migraines. Linalool is the main terpene in lavender, explaining many of its therapeutic properties. While there is little research on the effects of smoking lavender, there is research on the effects of inhaling linalool, which is precisely what we are doing when we are smoking the floral buds. Studies have found inhalation of linalool has a wide range of potential benefits. In one study, linalool aromatherapy was used in a post-anesthesia after surgery care unit, and reduced the opioid requirements of the patients, citing lavender as a promising pain reliever. Another study found

Mullein

Many who smoke herbal blends consider mullein to be one of the best. It has a light and fluffy texture, burning slowly and even has properties that help to soothe a sore throat, making it a delightfully smooth smoking experience. Mullein is a natural expectorant, helping to clear mucus from the airways. Research has found the herb can help with influenza, asthma, bronchitis, and pneumonia by breaking up congestion and mucus. It is also a popular herb used in Spanish folk medicine to treat a wide variety of ailments including those associated with muscular, digestive, and respiratory systems. Additionally, mullein can help those with inflammatory conditions, such as arthritis and osteoporosis. Mullein has a wide range of terpenes, flavonoids, and other components that deliver a variety of therapeutic effects including pain reduction and inflammation, helping to bring relief to the respiratory system, as well as acting as an antioxidant. When mixed with cannabis the flavonoids and terpenes of mullein blend seamlessly with cannabis, delivering a holistic smoking experience.

Chamomile

Chamomile is most commonly enjoyed as a tea to help aid digestion and promote relaxation and sleep. However, it can also be smoked to reap its powerful benefits. The use of the plant dates back thousands of years, used in Egypt and Greece as a medicinal plant. Hippocrates, the father of medicine, also mentions chamomile in writings, citing it as a powerful medicinal plant. Chamomile has an array of components that help to deliver its effects including the terpene bisabolol. Chamomile acts as a natural relaxant for the mind and body, promotes a restful sleep, and helps to combat inflammation and pain. Chamomile is also great for those with digestive problems, helping to soothe the digestive tract and reduce nausea. When combined with cannabis, it adds a sweet and floral aroma and an array of additional benefits.

For centuries, humanity has turned to the healing properties of various herbs to nurture the body, mind, and spirit. These botanical wonders have been incorporated into spiritual rituals and prescribed for therapeutic purposes across diverse cultures worldwide. In much the same manner as cannabis, we can harness the potential of other plants to enhance our overall well-being. These herbs can be employed independently or in conjunction with cannabis, enriching our holistic journey and magnifying the benefits. If you have an affinity for cannabis or hemp, I encourage you to explore the transformative possibilities of other herbs and their potential to elevate your smoking experience.

Pick Your Poison: A Powerful Urge Featuring

Garrett James Dillon

We are all, most of us at least, earthbound creatures. Conscious souls encased in flesh suits with the mental capacity to choose how we live out the short time we have on this planet. Each day provides us with new opportunities and choices to make in our constant pursuit of happiness. Our decisions determine each new chapter of our life. Do we sleep in or get up early? Party or hit the gym? Run the red light or take the back roads? Do we manifest our destiny or just go with the flow? Every option we pick influences our reality and the world we live in. Every cause has an effect.

There once was a time, not so long ago, when readers could buy a fantasy book that allowed them to make a choice on how their reading adventure would go. Do you pick up the sword and fight like a warrior only to die on the battlefield, or do you opt to run down the hill and hide, so you can escape the horror, hoping to live another day?

I love this style of storytelling and, with the help of Avantpop Publishing, we’re producing two new genres in this classic, multiple-choice format. The first is the deadly art of consuming poisons. In these short stories, you, the reader, get to

Pick Your Poison

Just about everyone wants to hear about the trials and tribulations of a drug escapade. The occasional users, the hardcore abusers, and even the concerned observers. The unimaginable and bizarre occurrences that happen during a mind-altering experience, when retold, are titillating tales for both the listener and the storyteller. Horrific and tragic, or enjoyable and enriching; either secondhand or firsthand, all of us have a story to tell when it comes to drug use.

Like many pleasure pirates, I’ve shamelessly divulged my swashbuckling drug adventures freely. Over the years, I’ve noticed that all types of people, rich or poor, young or old, from all walks of life, thirst to hear them, engrossed by the absurdity and inconceivable experiences. Quite often, after absorbing my tales of trippiness, the captive listener is eager to share their own altered experience, whether positive or negative. The question always is, was the decision to imbibe a good choice or a bad one?

Pick Your Poison is the first in a series of short stories where the reader can select various possibilities for an unusual drug-fueled experience. Sometimes blissful, sometimes frightening, always exciting!

The first in this Avantpop Publishing series is from Las Vegas author Garrett James Dillion. His short story, “A Powerful Urge”, is a selection of twisted,

gritty scenarios that plunges the reader into a ferocious rollercoaster bender, transporting them through the dank bowls of Sin City’s underground tunnels where the displaced, unwanted, and unhoused people whom the city would rather ignore than help, try to survive. You may end up in a trap house while consorting with and sharing paraphernalia with junky gutter-punks or find yourself with unlikeable, desperate, and shady dealers. Will you wake up in a strange place with no recollection of how you got there or whose place you ended up at after blacking out? Or will you decide to sleep in your car so as not to drive, only to be jousted away by the police? Along your journey, you may find yourself grasping for life or consumed with heavenly, feverish desire, reeking of sex, with your body engulfed in a noxious chemical cloud. You are always provided with choices. Do you choose to get your life together and leave your wild side behind, or ruin everything and continue to chase the dragon for another fix? Is your passion for the taboo something you can live with? Can you control your addictions? Or will you tailspin out of control? Getting high can be pleasurable, but it can also be deadly. It all comes down to the people you surround yourself with, and the amount of, and combinations of, substances you decide to use.

With the calculated control of a manic-escaped prisoner, Garrett James Dillon’s writing style resembles a banished, lascivious, fallen angel who observes, embraces, and documents life’s darkest corners, while spontaneously capturing the injured shadows and the weary, unsavory history of this abandoned, latent world while he unapologetically frees the abused spirits that haunt our earthly existence. Can you survive in a world while using deadly substances that can kill people and destroy the lives they once had? You decide. You get to Pick Your Poison

This is the first in a series of short stories that will have you asking yourself, Would I do that? I highly suggest you spark up and kick back with a copy of your own. This book is definitely worth Reading Lit!

You can pick up a copy of Pick Your Poison - A Sudden Urge featuring Garrett James Dillion, exclusively at Avantpop Bookstore in Las Vegas or at avantpopbooks.com.

Miki Rae

Miki Rae is a singer-songwriter local to the Reno-Tahoe area. Born and raised in Gardnerville, NV, she’s been performing music professionally for the past seven years. Miki started playing the guitar when she was in the fourth grade, and ever since then, it’s been her number one passion. She considers herself lucky to have been surrounded by musicians and great music her whole life - her dad played the bass in multiple local bands and inspired her to play music as well. In 2017, Miki learned to play the ukulele and she’s been in love with the instrument ever since. She’s also had the privilege of traveling and performing in New Zealand, Nashville, and most recently, Maui. Music is her life, her most honorable passion and basically, her everything.

Miki has professionally recorded songs on all music platforms, both solo and with her old band Taking Root. All of her songs have been recorded with the help of Tom Gordon from Imirage Sound Lab in Reno, NV. Her newest song “Lonely People”, released in March of this year is a family recording featuring her father Jimmy Garrison on bass, her younger brother Liam Garrison on saxophone, her cousin Garrett Baker on lead guitar, and Jordan Weihskopf on the drums. These days, Miki performs with her new band Miki Rae and The Hooligans, and it consists of Rob Wheeler from Lavish Green and The Tahoe Tribe on bass, Garrett Moore from False Rhythms on guitar, and Robbie Wheeler also from False Rhythms on drums. She describes their music as Island Reggae: happy fun vibes! Miki considers herself so blessed to be performing with amazing musicians who she can also call family. They have multiple shows lined up, including Mountain Vibe Music Festival in May 2024.

In addition to possessing incredible healing abilities, cannabis has also played a role in her music by helping in the creative side of her

writing. It is Miki’s belief that cannabis helps to soothe the soul, calm the mind, and bring people together. She recommends cannabis to anyone who feels anxious and is an overthinker like she is. For Miki, cannabis truly is magical and holds incredibly beautiful powers.

It is Miki’s goal to share music that she hopes others can enjoy, and to spread love and positive vibes. She aspires to perform around the world and perform alongside artists she looks up to such as Hirie, Anuhea, Rebelution, Stick Figure, J Boog, Katchafire, and more. DMT Trip >>> How to Prepare

Disclaimer: We do not encourage illegal activity. Check with and adhere to your local laws. We do not claim psychedelics or plant medicine to be a substitute for professional medical care. Always consult with your doctor. The goal of this article is to promote entertainment, safety and education.

Those who delve into psychedelics inevitably notice that each journey has its own character. Take DMT and ayahuasca, for instance. While an ayahuasca journey can unfold over several hours, immersing you in a rich tapestry of visions and emotions, a DMT voyage is more like a cosmic sprint. Often dubbed the “spirit molecule”, it offers an intense experience that typically peaks within minutes and usually concludes in about eight. Today, we’re talking preparation and integration tips for the short, yet profound, DMT experience.

A Prep Guide For Your DMT Experience

Dipping your toes into the psychedelic waters of DMT? Well, a bit of prep can go a long way, especially with this potent player. Here are three tips to help you gear up for your rendezvous with one of the most powerful psychedelics.

Before You Dive In

Time for a Digital Detox: Ever thought about hitting pause on the endless scroll? Stepping back from social media can clear the mental clutter and help you tune in better to your inner vibes.

Eat Smart & Water Up: Fuel up with easy-onthe-stomach foods. You'll want to eat enough to be satiated, avoid overdoing it. Stay hydrated. That means lots of water and fewer drinks that can sap your hydration—like alcohol, super sugary drinks, or too many caffeine-loaded sips.

Pamper Yourself: It’s important to feel good in your skin before you set off. Maybe that means a revitalizing shower, a skin-loving scrub, or a muscle-relaxing epsom salt bath.

Setting & Set

When diving into the world of psychedelics, we often hear about the importance of "set

& setting." But I've always felt it's more intuitive to flip that script—starting with "setting" first. Before you dive deep into your internal landscape, it makes sense to ensure your surroundings are just right. Get your environment settled, cozy up, and only then turn your attention inward, focusing on your mindset. Here are some tips to optimize your setting and set.

Setting: Crafting the Right Vibe

When we talk about setting, we're referring to the physical and social surroundings that'll cradle your trip. This encompasses everything outside your body. Here are some focus areas:

Refresh & Reset: Start with a clean slate. A tidy space can help declutter the mind, so spend a little time tidying up. Open up those windows, let some fresh air roll in. Maybe sage the area to help clear the vibes or introduce some soothing aromas with essential oils. You want to keep the room familiar, so avoid adding anything new or changing too many things up.

Dress Comfy: Think cozy, breathable, and freemoving attire. Maybe a soft tee, loose pants, or leggings, and don't forget about layering. Whether you opt for fuzzy socks or go barefoot, make sure you're comfortable from head to toe.

Blanket on Deck: Trips can get chilly. Whether it's a body temp drop or just feeling a bit vulnerable, having a blanket nearby is a gamechanger. It's like a warm, reassuring hug when you need it.

Cozy It Up With Pillows: Think comfort. Soft lighting, a designated relaxation zone, and plenty of pillows. Why the emphasis on pillows? Because each journey is unique, and you can never precisely predict when the medicine will take effect. Once it does, lying down will be your instinctual response. Having pillows ensures that when that moment comes, your tripsitter can gently guide you to a soft landing. And a quick reminder? Opt for faux candles over real ones. Safety first, always—so no open flames during your trip.

Trusted Tripsitter: Venturing into the realms of DMT is an intense and unpredictable experience. That's why it's paramount to have a sober, trusted companion alongside you—a tripsitter. Their role? Not just to grab the pipe when the effects come on strong and suddenly, ensuring you can be gently laid back onto a cushioned haven, but to hold space for you, protecting the energy around and ensuring a safe environment. This guardian presence can be the anchor you need, making your journey more comfortable and more profound.

Sound Vibe: Curated ambient music, like Brian Eno's "Music for Airports 1/1" or Hammock's "Turn Away and Return", can be a calming echo. I suggest sticking with music without lyrics, so that you can create your own meaning and narrative, instead of being influenced by song lyrics.

SET: Preparing Your Mind

When we talk about set, it's all about your internal landscape—the feels, vibes, and thoughts cruising through your mind. Everything inside your body. Think of it as your mental and emotional foundation; before you blast off, you want to ensure you're deeply grounded, so you have a stable base to "return" to. It's the mental backpack you're taking on this trip, so let's pack wisely.

Shake It Off: Before jumping in, shake off any stale vibes clinging on. How? Dance like nobody's watching. Crank up a favorite tune and let loose. Follow it up with some good old deepbreathing and stretching; it's like a mini reset button for your brain.

Setting Intentions and Navigating

Expectations: Start with journaling as your pre-trip map. Are you seeking answers, clarity, or just openness to what's ahead? Start with questions like, “Why am I taking this journey?” or “What's happening in my life that I want to explore further?” Writing these down can ground you, guiding your journey's focus. While intentions are your guiding light, it's vital to distinguish them from expectations—those

50 Nevada's Original Cannabis Resource // Since 2014

specific outcomes we might hope for. Remember, psychedelics won't always follow our scripts. Review your journal, acknowledge your goals, and release any attached outcomes. Approach the journey with an open heart and mind.

Embrace Serenity and Gratitude: Begin with meditation to clear the mind and find your center, preparing mentally for the journey ahead. As you approach the experience, consider a ritual or prayer, expressing gratitude to Mother Nature for the medicine before putting the pipe to your lips. This act not only acknowledges the gift but also protects your space and gathers positive energy before the journey truly begins.

Lean Into the Experience: Lastly, embrace whatever comes your way. It's okay to feel the jitters, but let go of overthinking. Trust the ride, be in the moment, and remember that every bit of the trip is part of the bigger exploration.

San Pedro - A Guide to Respectful Engagement

*Author’s Disclaimer: We do not encourage illegal activity, nor the sale or trade of illegal substances. Check with and adhere to your local laws. We do not claim plant medicine to be a substitute for professional medical care. Always consult with your doctor. The goal of this article is to promote safety and education.

For many psychedelic adventurers, the allure of San Pedro cactus probably isn't news. This ancient plant, when brewed right, gifts a mescaline tea steeped in history and reverence. Centuries of stories and transformative experiences trace back to this very brew. But it's essential to remember: San Pedro is not just another psychoactive substance. It's an indigenous medicine, deeply rooted in the rituals and traditions of the native communities that have held it sacred for millennia. Got a curious spirit and a respectful approach? Join us as we explore the best and most considerate way to embark on a San Pedro journey.

What is Mescaline?

At its core, mescaline is the star compound found in cacti such as San Pedro and peyote. This psychoactive alkaloid has long captivated both curious minds and spiritual seekers with its potent properties. It's the driving force behind the vibrant visions and profound introspective experiences that many users report after consuming these sacred plants.

Mescaline was first isolated and identified in 1897 by the German chemist Arthur Heffter. Though its chemical structure was breaking news to Western science, indigenous communities in the Americas, particularly in the Andes region and parts of Mexico, had been using it in spiritual ceremonies for over 3,000 years.

The psychoactive effects of mescaline occur when the compound binds to and activates certain serotonin receptors in the brain. This affects mood, perception, and cognition, leading to the profound experiences or "trips" that users describe.

Mescaline as Spiritual Medicine: A Tapestry of Traditions

Across the vast landscapes of the Americas, mescaline has played an integral role as a spiritual conduit. Its rich history is painted with rituals, traditions, and ceremonies that vary as widely as the cultures from which they emerge.

Up in North America, the peyote ceremony of the Native American Church typically unfolds at night inside a tepee. Here, it's not just about the substance, but the experience—sitting upright with the rhythm of traditional songs and heartfelt prayers, all intending to heal personal and societal wounds.

Shift your focus to Mexico, and you'll find the Huichol people, who make an annual pilgrimage to the Wirikuta mountains for their revered peyote hunt. This isn't just a casual gathering; it's steeped in tradition. Before embarking on their journey, participants cleanse themselves through purification

rituals. They return bearing a year’s supply of peyote, a portion of which they share with neighboring tribes.

Further south, in the lands of Peru, San Pedro ceremonies or Huachuma rituals vary between day and night. But the essence is intimacy. Both the shaman and participant consume the brew together, punctuating the experience with deep introspective conversations and intense rituals. It's a full-circle event with fasting before and a communal feast afterward.

Across these diverse cultures, mescaline's spiritual allure remains a common thread, reminding us of the power of nature to connect, heal, and enlighten.

San Pedro vs. Peyote: Making an Informed and Ethical Choice

As you embark on your journey into the world of mescaline, you're likely to come across two primary sources: San Pedro and Peyote. Both have rich histories and potent effects, but there's more to consider than just their psychedelic properties when choosing between them.

Starting with Peyote: This cactus holds a sacred space in the hearts and rituals of the Native American Church (NAC) and other indigenous groups. But it's crucial to know that Peyote finds itself on a thin line, ecologically speaking. The cactus takes its time – sometimes decades – to grow and mature. The surge in its popularity, coupled with habitat destruction, has led to its near extinction. Simply put, there aren't a lot of them left, and they need a long time to bounce back.

Enter San Pedro. Not only is this cactus faster-growing and easier to regenerate, but it's also more widespread in its distribution. By choosing San Pedro over Peyote, you're actively demonstrating a commitment to ecological preservation and cultural respect. In essence, your choice signals a deep appreciation for the ecosystem's balance and an acknowledgment of Peyote's sacred significance to indigenous communities of Peyote to indigenous groups.

So, while the spiritual allure of Peyote is undeniable, consider this: leave the dwindling Peyote for the Native populations who have revered and depended on it for generations. By leaning into San Pedro, you're not just ensuring a responsible mescaline journey for yourself, but you're also playing a part in preserving an essential aspect of indigenous culture and tradition.

Looking for San Pedro cactus? Nevada is teeming with them. In fact, during my recent visit to Star Nursery, I came across more than a dozen San Pedros.

October will be great for enjoying pleasant moments with friends and loved ones. You exude romance and find it easy to surround yourself with beauty. The joy and humor that you share with others brings lots of opportunities for socializing. The stars favor all endeavors on the lines of getting rid of bad habits to improve your personal development and profession related goals. You are feeling aligned mentally and may feel the desire to start a new practice or learn a new technique. Although things are going so well for you, they may not be for others. Pay attention to timing and don’t force anything, a poorly timed moment could cause tension with loved ones. Keep a 3 pack of peacemakers around like the Peach Mango Moonrock Infused Minis by Presidential in case anyone needs it.

VIRGO (AUG 22 – SEPT 22)

Your main focus this month is inner and outer peace. Thanks to your process of self reflection and quiet contemplation, your inner harmony will flourish as you work through unresolved feelings. Your ability to remove yourself from the opinions of others is a double edged sword. Unfortunately, some of your friends, family members or acquaintances may see your isolation as insufficient interest in them and reduce their communication and contact with you when they need your help the most. Try to hear what they have on their hearts while protecting yourself from negativity. A stony, earthy cartridge like the SFV OG Pod by Stiiizy will assist you to be a supportive listener. Spending time outside in nature also keeps you grounded and balanced to be there for yourself and others.

LIBRA (SEP 22 – OCT 23)

In October, you'll find yourself in a much more relaxed mood and things seem to fall in place. You might be so at ease that you even come across as being reserved and prefer smaller gatherings to large, boisterous parties. Despite having a more laid back nature this month, your refined taste stands strong to create lavish celebrations throughout the rest of your season. These mature celebrations make a great foundation from which to set new priorities. Although you may not be as extroverted, your communication is on point and your witty banter is top notch. Creativity is a priority this month, so you will find yourself enjoying music, art, and other forms of expression.

CAPRICORN (DEC 21 – JAN 19)

Don't expect too much from these relationships when they start; everything will take its time to grow stronger. Spend time in nature and more specifically bodies of water where you can regenerate and breathe a lot of fresh air.

AQUARIUS (JAN 19 – FEB 18)

As much as last month was all play, this month you are very focused on the

workplace. Being the star sign that you are, Aquarians will be quite entertaining with their quick witted charm and humor. This might make you a little too chatty during crucial work hours and it will be difficult to keep your boss as happy about it as your colleagues may be. Try to use humor with your boss at the right times to lighten the mood with them. Outside of work, everyone will absolutely adore you. You help others not to take life too seriously. Since you’re feeling social this month, pick up a pack of Sunshine Daydream Baby J’s by Green Life Productions to spread the love and keep the party going.

PISCES (FEB 18 – MAR 20)

This month, you will need to slow down to speed up. In October, it feels like you’ve bit off more than you can chew. Your weight of ambitious obligations and responsibilities will pile up causing a lot of stress. Take a pause, consider what needs to be prioritized, and postpone the rest. It is not productive to have such a long to-do list and having too high of expectations for yourself makes it all worse. You will find yourself angry at everything and everyone if you don’t take time to decompress and remove unnecessary pressure. Be gentle with yourself and those around you. Chill out with a puff of LP Exotic’s GMO to help your troubles melt away.

Mix all ingredients in a large bowl

CHE BELLO BAKED APPLES

INGREDIENTS:

2 honeycrisp apples - for me, they just enhance the whole dish but please use whatever type of apple you desire

1 cup macadamia nuts- raw

½ lemon - get a good squeeze out of it

¼ cup of water

½ T of sea salt

6-8 ounces of prosciutto

THC honey for drizzling the apples

PREPARATION:

Preheat oven to 350°. Wash and slice your apples into half inch slices. Make the Macadamia Cream Cheese by mixing together in a bowl or blender the lemon, nuts, water and sea salt until it's blended like a cheesy texture. Time to take a piece of your apple and put a drop or so of the Macadamia Cream Cheese on the apple, wrap with prosciutto, put your tooth pick in the center then lay it on your parchment paper covered baking sheet (do this until you've used all your slices). Now, take your THC-infused honey and drizzle it all over your apple pieces. Place them in the pre-heated oven for 20 minutes and then let cool.

Tip: When cutting your prosciutto, do it about two inches long so you can wrap just the center of the apple.

BLUE CLOUD MOCKTAIL

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups of lemon lime sparkling or mineral water (I used my favorite mineral water “Topo Chico with a Twist”)

½ cup of Blue Curacao syrup

2 T of orange juice

2 T of infused THC honey

2 cups of fresh squeezed lemon juice

2 lemon slices (for garnish)

2 orange slices (for garnish)

PREPARATION:

Fill your glasses with ice. Pour 2oz of Blue Curacao syrup into each glass In a separate cocktail shaker, add the THC honey, lemon and orange juice and shake vigorously. Then, pour half in each glass. Top both glasses off with your seltzer or mineral water (a lime soda will also work for a sweeter taste.) Give it a quick stir. Garnish, serve and enjoy this refreshing beautiful Blue Mocktail.

Cooking with Cannabushi

>>> An Infusion Series with chef chris rodarte

What is up, all you Stoner’s and Stonette’s! I’m not quite done celebrating the four years I’ve been able to write for this magazine so I decided to do a throwback! A trifecta of terrific! Now, let’s get to it and make something that makes your endocannabinoid system shiver.

Canna "Boo"-zey Jello Shots

Ingredients:

6 oz.box of lime Jello

1 pkg. unflavored Knox gelatin

1 ½ cups of boiling water

¾ cup Sour Diesel infused vodka via Nitro Cavitation or NitroMuddling depending on front/back of house groups

1 g kief hash grated to a powder - I shaved about that off a 10 gram chunk I had decarbed before using (300 degrees for 7 minutes in a oven safe and covered container)

1 dram of LorAnn Oils Key Lime

10-12 30 ml plastic syringes

INSTRUCTIONS:

In a heat safe container, place your dry ingredients: Jello, gelatin, and kief hash powder. Mix thoroughly. Once the water is boiling, add it slowly to the dry Jello powder until mixed together. Wait until almost room temperature to add the Infused vodka and the 4 drops of LorAnn Oils Key Lime flavoring.

*Nitro Cavitation/Muddling Infusion*- I used a standard ISI whip cream dispenser. Add 1g Sour Diesel (decarbed kief hash) to the empty container. Then add your 3/4 cup vodka of choice. Swirl until mixed. The higher the proof, the “higher” the boom. Close everything up and use 2 nitro canisters to charge the device. Shake the container well throughout the sitting period. Let sit for 15-20 minutes. Grab a cup and while holding the ISI canister upright, place above the nozzle and discharge the gas. You have just infused vodka via Nitro Cavitaton/Muddling!

Make sure to keep everything mixed together and begin removing liquid with the syringes. I completely filled them to the max at 30ml

*tip* drill out the holes to a bigger diameter so the shot can be done easier. ¼ works wonders guys. Place them all in the fridge, opening upwards in cups and wait for them to cool. Wait a couple hours for your Canna”Boo”zey Shots to be done. These do not seem strong but looks are deceiving....

Count "Dank"ula Witches Brew

Ingredients:

1 dram LorAnn Oils Cookies and Cream flavoring

2 oz of chocolate syrup

1 oz infused simple syrup

4 oz vodka

2 oz Bailey’s Irish Espresso Cream

4 oz whole milk

2 cubes of dry Ice (*wear gloves*)

INSTRUCTIONS:

First mix all your ingredients together in a shaker minus your LorAnn Oils flavoring. Add 2 drops of the Cookies and Cream flavoring to sides of glass. Using the edible blood recipe from the “Monster Mash Roll” which you can find in the throwback article from October 2019’ Issue #61 of this magazine. Place a small amount of “blood” in a dish and place your rim into it. Turn it back upright and let it flow!

**Gloves are Required** Take a piece of dry ice and place it inside your glass. Use tongs. Be careful Stoner’s and Stonette’s dry ice will burn your bare skin. So no funny ideas, ok? Pour your mixture from the shaker until just shy of the rim and bubbles. Oh yes, if you do this correctly, there will be plenty of bubbles and more in this concoction. Please make sure that all bubbles AND smoke (gas/ Co2) is completely gone before consuming. Now that’s what I call ‘Cannecular Gastronomy’!
