FINAL PROJECT 2016/2017
‘Village’ should be a place full of affection. People live in there can feel warm and safe. Village has a symbolic meaning of agglomeration as human is interdependent. At the same time, we should respect the nature. Living in village is pursuing a simple life. Residents can ‘enjoy’ their life when they are living in the nature.. Sha Lo Tung is proposed to be this ideal place. The village setting is in three levels on the slope and is linked by bridges and stairs. The bridges are, not only as access or circulation for people to pass through, but also as places for people to gather and appreciate the environment.

When I studied Pound Lane, I found that the area is lack of some facilities, such as library and public space for the residents to entertain. They do not have a place for gathering in the community. Someone said when the city is developing vigorously, we need to look into the design of its details. The meaning of development is that we can on one hand keep the valuable things and on the other hand create something new for the city. The cabins symbolize the traditional cabinet, which provides spaces of varying scale for various functions, such as hostel, library and cafe. It acts as a thoroughfare to connect Pound Lane and the residents.
Dai Pai Dong is one of the most cherished cultural heritages in Hong Kong. Yet, there are not many left due to government policies about hygiene and other reasons. Thus, I have chosen this topic to not only renew Dai Pai Dong, but to enhance its few main essences and extend its "life" at night. The vending machines, screens and liquor cabinets in the storage wall will be revealed, transforming the street into a bar, extending the Dai Pai Dong “life” at night.
The living space problem in Hong Kong is getting out of control which affects seriously our everyday lives. In this project, I try to look for solution of living in Hong Kong and design a mix-used complex which provides alternatives which we can survive in this chaos. My thought is: how we could improve our living qualities even though the size of our living space is tiny. All the residential units are less than 12 sq. meter in size and every four units share a common room which is located above or below the units.

Rehab is a space to provide a long term treatment and quality extended care to persons with disabilities and chronic illnesses at residential or inpatient treatment centers to further develop and maintain a steady recovery path. It provided little opportunity for mature, autonomous, self-directed responsible behavior and complete control over the behavior of the patient is warranted in the phase of recovery from the acute accident. The aim of design is to create a space which could make client feel comfortable to stay for a long period of time. The outdoor ramp connects patients’ private zones to the rooftop garden. Patients could walk on the ramp and have good view. This creates better connection between indoor space and outdoor space.
''BOMBER'', the name of store, means exploding and melting both traditional and youth culture together, creating contrasts as well as keeping the traditions. It looks like a big shinning ruin sitting on the seaside, marking a new sea level on the canvas. Being an outsider in Hong Kong, Supreme is like a big bombing plane, bombing the seaside with its forefront attitude and culture and this is the origination of this design: with all the exploded parts disperse on one side leaving the potholes and fragments on the other side to form the part of the store and landscape.
In this project, a living space is designed for the target users. Its functions are similar to a hotel. The concept of the design is “refuge”, which provides an independent community in this building, like an isolated space within the busiest district Mong Kok. Most windows and balconies are facing inward of the building. It creates distances between people and provides an internal space which enhances the chance for the residents to come across with each other. More shared areas would be provided and the private areas and the living rooms would be small. Translucent glass would be used in the design as a kind of filter.

ACHIEVEMENT/ SCHEME-BASED ACTIVITIES
Lohas Park is located close to the natural heritage of the territory (Victoria Harbour) and it is the largest housing estate in Hong Kong, with a population of 60,000 residents. Lohas Park unfortunately is lack of an integrated planning with insufficient community facilities and transportation. In view of this, Lohas Park should make use of its advantage--the waterfront--to develop the promenade like Kwan Tong, Hung Hom and Tsim Sha Tsui and have its own pier. By fusing the design of the ferry pier and the public square into a new recreational place at the waterfront, Lohas Park will be an inviting and open community that is expanding and celebrating its common ground.
