It is a real honor and pride for Versus to dedicate this issue to one of the biggest designers with international exposure that we have in Spain, Esther Noriega.
Versus Magazine Project began three years ago, we knew we wanted to bring fashion from real life to Second Life , recreate the catwalks and real life seasons to our virtual life.
It is a pride, as a spanish, as a fashion lover and as a woman, to make this tribute to Esther Noriega.
In her designs, Esther, always think of a strong woman, a woman who lives by herself, liberal, self-sufficient , strong ... but also sensual, romantic and delicate .. A WOMAN with capital letters.
Esther has kindly spent her time working with me on this project. She knew absolutely nothing about Second Life. She patiently listened to the explanations , got to know the work we do in the world of fashion at this virtual world, leafed through the magazine, learned about our work on Versus and I gave us an interview as well as her help in finding articles and photos from her collections.
Thank you for all Esther, see you soon, and hope you all enjoy knowing a little more of this great designer and woman.

Fashion trends have an intriguing way of sticking around for years or disappearing after making a brief appearance on runways around the world and in Second Life. What we choose to wear in real life and in Second Life is an intricate part of who we are and what we stand for. At Versus we strive to inspire you to be the best you can be with our articles, stylists and photographers.
To me, one of the most interesting things about fashion is the way it emerges and blossoms. Some fashion styles and trends transcend time and are appreciated by generations – the little black dress is a case in point or dresses with A-line designs. In each issue of Versus, we bring you the current trends to inspire your style and the way you dress.
Art is an integral part of fashion and we have married the two and strive to introduce our readers to up and coming and established artists and builds in Second Life that add so much to our immersive community experience.
As always, be extraordinary and make 2016 astonishing.

ENTREVISTA/INTERVIEW

Esther Noriega began her studies in this field in Valladolid, later moving to Madrid and Barcelona, where she completed her training in design and pattern making. Her way of understanding fashion as the union of design and quality leads her to join the Atelier of Petro Valverde, discovering and implementing the qualities of Haute Couture. During this stage she collaborates in the organizing of the most prestigious bridal wear runways. This offers her the opportunity to explore a new field where to imprint her young and at the same time innovative style, which she will continue purifying in the following years together with major global brands such as Pronovias. Subsequently she continues broadening her practical training together with one of the most relevant designers of Spain, working under the guidance of Amaya Arzuaga. In January 2005 she opened her own
Couture Atelier in Valladolid. Here she begins to develop a more personal style, through brining together the traditional concept of craftsmanship in the workshop, adding innovative designs, always elegant. Her creations contribute the introduction of Couture elements for every day-wear with a detailed pattern making to enhance the female silhouette, endowing originality and distinction. Her basic rules lie in a blend of creativity with the accomplishment of garments that can be worn on special occasions. Her creations have been present at the major professional fashion trade shows in Spain and she has exhibited in various global salons such as Paris. Esther Noriega has for several years presented her collections in Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, Valencia Fashion Week & Fashion Week of Castilla y León.

He aprendido

sther, it is for me an honor to be here talking to one of the best fashion designers in Spain. If we begin your own story like this “Once upon a time there was a little girl that felt in love with fashion when she was ….. years old”- How would you tell your story began? Since I was a little girl, I liked to paint and I used to spend a lot of time copying drawings from the Disney collection of stories. I also liked to do handcrafts, I remembered those were my best grades at school. Looking back, was there any specific moment in which you decided you will became a designer, or it was a natural process in which you always knew that, sooner or later, this was going to be your own choice in life? I discovered it little by little, and when I was 16 years old I wanted to begin studying something related to fashion. As a fashion designer, how would you define your design style? I see it as a very romantic but minimalist at the same time. Is my vision correct? Your vision is correct. Could you please explain me the process of creativity at the moment of designing a collection? It all begins with an image, a concept, music, colours, or something else? One of your collections that caught my attention is the 2014 Spring/Summer – Eumenides. It is very detailed, from the concept of the Euminides, revenge goddess in the greek mythology. Also the visual concept and the use of the five colours, White, purple, red, gold and black. Can you explain me how this creative process begins in your mind? It depends a lot with my mood and the experiences that surround me at the time of designing the collection. I´ve learnt to work with my emotions through the collections, that´s why many of them have a great emotional charge. When you are designing something, you are telling a story and because
of that, you try the customers to understand it. There are many things you need to take in consideration when creating a collection. It is not only design and make dresses, there is also light, staging, and the most important, music. There are always five main colours in your collections, they change from collection to collection, but always the pattern of five colours, why five colours Esther? I think that till now, I have not seen that detail, but the five colours is a coincidence in many collections. I believe that I try to find an equilibrium when matching colours. Many other times, we have combined them with textures and patterns. Watching through the history, Is there any particular woman (from any century or country) for whom you would have loved to create and design? Who and why? I like to create dresses for women, I think that each dress has a woman waiting for it. I do not know which woman to tell you, but I feel so good when they tell me how they feel when they wear one of my designs in an event.
“I also liked to do handcrafts, I remembered those were my best grades at school”
Esther, can you tell us a little about your last collection shown at Mercedes Benz Madrid Fashion Week? Legend is a collection inspired in warrior women, the ones which passed through Valladolid have made history. It is a tribute to the modern woman, that never gives up.

Are you ready for your next collection? Can you tell us which will be the big trends from Esther Noriega for 2017, or it is too early? I have not started yet, after the hangover of Legend, I need some days to detox and charge myself, and start creating again. How do you feel of being discovered at a virtual world? For a designer that Works her flowers as an artisan, that sew dresses with her own hands… how do you see this virtual world of Second Life where we both move through and behind the computer but at the same time it is a very creative environment, in a different way? I am very curious, I think that in a world like
“Legend is a collection inspired in warrior women, the ones which passed through Valladolid have made history. It is a tribute to the modern woman, that never gives up”
Second Life there could be done incredible things and much more outstanding than in real life. Now, some fast questions for quick answers, the first one to come to your mind, that will let us know a little about Esther Noriega…. Music: I love music, but I have no one that I don´t like. I am always using music to create and design. Composer: Rodrigo Tamariz, he is the composer of the music for my collections, and we have a very special connection when we work together. Movie: Robin Hood Book: Los pilares de la tierra Finally Esther, before saying thank you for this incredible opportunity that you have given us of talking to you, with such a busy life you have. Is there something you would love to tell us, the ones that love fashion and that we share it in an artistic virtual world? I think it is admirable your work to make the fashion industry move beyond real life and make the dream of many come true. Thanks a lot Esther, it has been a pleasure and honor for me to share a moment in the life of a great woman of the fashion world.

By Sita Writer / Photography Syra Hyun

his exhibition, a Petrovsky Flux in Second Life dates back to 2008 and was created by blotto Epsilon and Cutea Benelli, a creative scripter, builder and design team. This project, underwritten by the University of Kansas was named after Soviet mathematician Ivan Georgievich Petrovsky, who mainly worked in the field of partial differential equations that deal with functions of a single variable and their derivatives and involves rates of change with respect to continuous variables. This concept is the essence of this Second Life build because it is in constant motion and constant evolution. In some ways it is like an attributes of the Hindu god, Shiva, the destroyer that allows Brahma and Vishnu to come in and create and rebuild the universe. In this way, Petrivsky’s Flux is a superb example of the positive aspects of regeneration, not to mention that the scripting and build itself is an extraordinary feat and one that should not be missed. Entering the Petrivsky Flux you will be assaulted with a world that continually grows and expands only to blow apart and collapse; and miraculously begin to rebuild in a seemingly random pattern leaving the viewer always wondering…what’s next! As the name implies, Petrivsky Flux, is a build that is in constant motion because it changes constantly. Watch for strange flying sheep that gracefully fly by, propellers that zip around your head and pink flowered armchairs on springs that bounce! Bring a friend and bounce around the sim…its great fun. Take a flying sheep or propeller for a spin around the sim and watch the creation of a cornucopia of multidimensional objects endlessly assemble in the sky only to break apart and come shattering

to the ground. In addition to flying sheep, propellers and bouncing chairs, look for lost flowers, notes that blow away and dissolve, TV mountain, a terrace café and the all ears pavilion…don’t you like the “sound” of that! Another thing to look for is the “Noggin Protector” (noggin is slang for head!). This will not only protect you from falling objects (sort of), it also makes an unusual and whimsical fashion statement! The build is very interactive so don’t be afraid to poke around and touch things, but be warned you never know where that click it might take you! In the sky you will see otherworldly organicmechanical steampunk disjointed space like builds that are hard to describe. They continually assemble and expand and then blow apart only to start the entire process all over again. It is reminiscent in some ways of the Myth of Sisyphus, the fellow that laboriously rolled a boulder up the side of the mountain only to watch it roll down upon reaching the summit, and his thankless task was to roll it back up the mountain. This build is not as repetitive as that but the building up and tumbling down of structures reflect aspects of this story. For the adventurous, don’t forget to fly up to explore the corridors of this build; you never know what you will find or see once you are inside. Bring a friend or a group of friends to explore and experience this clever build... you will have lots to ohhh and ahhh over. It is also an otherworldly backdrop for fashion shoots. Whatever the reason that brings you to explore the Spencer Museum of Art, it is an experience that will stick with you. Perhaps this build projects the lattice of coincidences that define life in both worlds, as life is change, always.

Beauty This spring and summer season brings a beauty spectrum of styles that are full of extremes. Natural beauty is in. Whisk on warm peach and rose -colored blush that make you look like you have just returned from a refreshing autumn walk through the fire colors of fall foliage. This spring the reign of no make-up is over. Look for faces covered in lace and pearls, electric blue eyes, and crimson colored candy apple lips. As for the skin tone – go for the bronze – think endless summer and a non- stop summer on the beach. Put away your hairbrush – hair, this season seems to be elegantly and perfectly disheveled… and almost always done in a nonchalant knot put up with a simple elastic band or a sleek three strand braid executed in a fresh new way. Slicked back twists and waves of hair are not blown dry but air-dried… naturally! Whether you wear your hair long and flowing, short or in an updo don’t forget to embellish it with a floral or jewel encrusted hairclip to finish off your look.
“Beauty is also submitted to the taste of time, so a beautiful woman from the Belle Epoch is not exactly the perfect beauty of today, so beauty is something that changes with time” Karl Lagerfeld

For some, the first sign of spring isn’t the tiny buds growing on the trees – it’s the first blush of summer that allows us to wear the ultra short micro shorts to show off our legs – to the sun! These ultra short shorts, the pantie shorts are oh so sexy. Pair these shorts with lace up heels and a bright white blouse with sleeves that billow in the wind. Mother Nature and style your self like a romantic sunset on a remote tropical island. Pair dazzling white with orange, wear long exotic “eye candy” earrings and bold blue on your eyelids -- -now -you are ready to rival a desert sunset! Another color that is always in is white…it is a classic that never goes out of style. Wear it tone on tone for a chic summer look that is unforgettable. Summer whites reflect a mix of influences this season from Victoriana to demure minis with delicate lace cutwork, daring cutout gowns to sporty casuals – this is your blank canvas to work with. To bring out your safari chic – go wild with leopard! Perfect for prowling about, pair leopard with a brightly colored handbag and long wind blown hair that is properly disheveled. And, don’t be afraid to wear the “new” leopard patterns that come in off-beat and imaginative tones and are embellished with bright colors, sequins and mixed with interesting graphic styled patterns.
