Dine and Stroll Through Morristown While Learning of Its Rich History By Jackie Schatell

f you are looking for a unique way to spend a few hours with family or friends, you will love one of the three Savor and Stroll culinary tours through Morristown where you will dine and learn about the rich Morristown history. There are many famous historical landmarks from the Revolutionary War to the Gilded Age and statues to see. There is also a great downtown flair where guests will walk, eat, and learn.

The Classic Savor and Stroll Tours are designed to highlight the rich history and small businesses in Morristown. Each tour has a different route. There are 3-4 tastings spaced out throughout the tour with one casual sit down tasting. According to Carozza, “the food adds up to a hearty lunch meal or light dinner.” This tour is best for mixed ages and fitness levels, and the best option for families with tweens and younger.

Founder of the tours, Kathleen Carozza, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, “believes food should nourish the mind, body and soul.” She says, “The memories of a favorite family recipe, comfort food or a treat can invoke joy and a sense of belonging.” Her philosophy is that all types of food can nourish and fit into an overall healthy lifestyle. “Marrying food tasting to a healthy outdoor activity such as walking is the perfect way to enjoy guilt free indulgences,” she adds.

The Savor, Sip and Shop Tour includes food and beer tasting as well as several shopping stops. The route is designed with specialty and boutique shopping and enough food to keep you going and enjoying the day. The tour, for those 21 and over, includes a sit-down brunch and three additional tastings. The History Hike and Graze Tour goes off the main streets into the neighborhoods where you’ll hear about local legends. This tour is best for older teens through Summer 2022

The tour includes five tastings along the way, adding to a meal and ending with a tasting at Glenbrook Brewery or small sit-down meal instead of brewery. All tours will support Ukrainian Refugees—a 10% donation of the profits will be made to The World Central Kitchen (WCK), whose mission is to provide meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. “I was privileged to hear WCK’s founder Chef José Andrés speak in 2019 — what an amazing person. WCK is providing meals for Ukrainian Refugees. His team is always ready to help during natural disasters and manmade crises,” states Carozza.
