THE KITCH: Wowing Diners for Years

T

he Kitch, a charming Italian bistro and pizzeria located in the heart of Little Falls, has been wowing diners with its robust menu of traditional fare and special dishes for the past three years. Whether you have a hankering for a universal favorite like Gnocchi Bolognese, Chicken Parmigiana or Shrimp Scampi, or the eatery’s renowned panko-crusted Crispy Eggplant Sandwich or Pepperoni Rectangle Pizza, boasting extra fluffy dough – you can’t go wrong, as there is something for everyone. Large parties will enjoy sharing family-style salads and entrees for up to four people. Those who enjoy dessert will have trouble choosing between Tiramisu, Cannoli Cake, Chocolate Blackout Cake, New York or Tartufo-Style Cheesecake, Large Cannoli, or Buñuelo with Cannoli Fillings.

Guests have two types of dining experiences to choose from at The Kitch– they can dine in the casual seating area or in the elegant bistro section. Known for its wonderful ambience and first-rate service, The Kitch is the perfect place for a first date, meet up with friends or girls’ night out. It’s also ideal for foodies. And, people looking to celebrate special occasions can hold private parties and events there. Offsite catering is also available. In addition, The Kitch’s hours of operation are quite convenient. From Monday to Thursday, the restaurant is open from 11am to 9:30pm. On Fridays and Saturdays, it stays open until 10pm. And, on Sundays, customers can dine there from noon to 9pm.

Fall 2019

The eatery not only provides delicious, reasonably priced meals, it also offers a glimpse into the heart of a thriving community. “The establishment is the product of years of authenticity, innovation and friendship,” states co-owner Michael Gimelfarb. He loves that his restaurant continually attracts longtime patrons as well as first-time guests. Gimelfarb credits this to the fact that diners can dine at their leisure, with a favorite bottle of wine from home, and no pressure to vacate. As it says on their website, The Kitch is “…where a meal is meant to be remembered.”

PEACE OF MIND

A

s the fall season begins, it is time to start thinking about heating your home. Air Group can assist you in making sure that all of your equipment is up-to-date and ready to run all winter long. Regular seasonal maintenance will ensure that our professionals can catch small problems before they become larger issues. It is better to be safe than sorry when the cold weather blows in. We offer maintenance plans that protect the safety of your equipment and is a cost-effective solution when handling essential home units. These plans extend the life of your home systems, so you can trust that you are in the best hands. Our team works hard to provide you with peace of mind. Another way to have peace of mind, as hurricane season and winter weather approaches, is with a whole-home generator. No matter what the weather brings, standby power is needed to make sure your home systems (heating, sump pump, and

electrical) continue to run smoothly and your family is kept comfortable and safe. We handle the installation from start to finish, without the need for costly subcontractors. Let Air Group do the work and maintain your home systems, so you can relax comfortably all season long.

Combining Love of Pets with Advanced Technology Verona Animal Hospital Marks 40 Years of Providing Top Quality Veterinary Care By Martta Kelly

V

eterinary care has advanced tremendously in the past 20 years and Verona Animal Hospital has always been at the forefront of new technology, while adhering to a core philosophy of putting the needs of pets first. Dr. Anthony P. Scriffignano, Verona Animal Hospital’s founder, recognizes that pets are regarded as family to his clients. “We offer top quality medical care that is tailored to a particular pet’s needs,” he said. Verona Animal Hospital, in existence since 1979, offers such advanced procedures as laser surgery, ultrasounds, colonoscopies, major abdominal surgery, and laparoscopic spay surgery—all on

site. “As a result, we often discover things that other veterinarians were not able to find,” he said. Dr. Scriffignano, who has also owned Montclair Animal Hospital since 1985, is actively involved with rescue groups that have saved hundreds of dogs and cats. He sits on the board of Rescue Haven Foundation and serves as veterinarian for Angels of Animals and Good Karma. He often works with dogs who arrive at shelters with behavioral problems, making them more difficult to be adopted. “Dogs who have been neglected or abused often require drug treatment until they adjust to their new environment,” he

said. “Once they adjust, we can begin positive training so that they can be adopted into loving homes.” “I love being able to make a difference in the lives of pets and their families,” he said. “I love coming to work every day.”

elf-employed people who don’t want to continue to work out of their homes. Big companies who need extra space for six months — or six years. Corporations that require a New Jersey address or a call center. And small businesses starting up or winding down. All of these find an ideal fit at Office Suites of NJ, Fairfield, said Operating Manager Jerry Doppelt. Clients appreciate the no-lease, contract-based system, under which, for a flat monthly fee, they can select the office size appropriate for their business. Doppelt noted that the contract is all inclusive of furnishings, utilities, WiFi, parking, and 24/7 access. The building is centrally located, and close to transit, restaurants and shops. “During the initial appointment, we determine what kind of business, what time frame they’re on, and accommodate our selection of offices to their needs,” Doppelt said. “We are a very cost-efficient solution for many situations.”

At Office Suites of NJ they offer common area workstations and private/exclusive offices so that the occupant can operate their business for a short or long term. The facility offers an on premise cafe, parking, janitorial services, and is minutes from all major highways.

Family Law is a Family Affair at DAMIANO LAW OFFICES

oni Belford Damiano started Damiano Law Offices (DLO)— a boutique family law firm in Little Falls—in 1992. The firm handles all facets of family law, including divorce, child custody, adoptions, palimony, child support, appeals, domestic violence, parenting time issues, equitable distribution, and more. Plus, since most divorces or dissolutions require the distribution of property, DLO has a real estate department to facilitate the sale or transfer of property and to prepare wills. The emphasis on family is paramount at DLO, where Damiano’s sons James (the current Little Falls mayor) and Luke have established their careers. Damiano’s youngest son, Zachary, is scheduled to join the firm next summer. All three worked there in their high school and college years as well—on summer and holiday breaks. The family also takes pride in civic duty, as Damiano has been a municipal judge since 1989, James is the current Little Falls mayor, and Luke is on the Board of Education. “I consider the other members of the firm as my extended family, and always emphasize the need for them to have quality time at home,” said Damiano. In addition to her son James, the five other attorneys include Joseph C. Perconti, Ruchika

Hira, Francesca Yuppa, Vincent Macri and Diana Strlovski. “My sons, the team and I know that no two families are alike, and the unique needs of every client must be given paramount consideration.”

“My sons, the team and I know that no two families are alike, and the unique needs of every client must be given paramount consideration.” —Toni Belford Damiano Damiano Law Offices stresses the importance protecting children’s rights and ensures legal matters are handled with the best interest of the child in mind. “Prior to opening the firm, I was a high school teacher and guidance counselor, so I knew my primary concern would be on protecting children,” said Damiano. “We know that divorce is the second highest stress evoker, and it is our duty to assist clients to maintain their integrity, and to take the high road throughout the process so that they put their children first before making any emotionally charged decisions,” said Damiano. “Once the children are taken care of, the best advice I can give to clients is to treat their divorce as a business transaction and not get caught up in the emotional drama of it all. DLO is here to help clients navigate this process every step of the way.”

The Language of SUCCESS Banyan High School helps overcome learning barriers By Janis Hashe

A

t Banyan High School, students with significant language-based learning disabilities find a supportive, yet structured, environment, and a curriculum focused on academic and social needs. “The 9th–12th grade curriculum continues to reinforce reading, language and communication skills, while preparing students for the next phase of their education and life,” said Director/Principal Wendy McNeill. For example, the LIFE (Learning Independence. Fostering Empowerment.) Academy for 18-to-21-year-old students emphasizes life and work skills. “Our students benefit from an integrated social skills program focusing on interpersonal and social language skills critical for the development of healthy peer relationships and successful functioning in community and workplace,” said McNeill. Public school districts may request consideration for a student’s placement at Banyan School at any time during their high school career. “The intake process allows prospective students to visit the school together with parents and case managers to determine whether the program will effectively meet the student’s needs,” said McNeill.

Food Shopping Made Easier with ShopRite From Home Photo by Dan Epstein

F

or most people, grocery shopping is seen as something that takes up hours of time after work or on the weekends. With busy schedules all around, it can feel like a huge task to find the time and energy for it every week. Luckily, ShopRite of Little Falls is here to lend a helping hand, with a special service that lets you shop right from home!

What is ShopRite From Home and how does it work? ShopRite From Home is an online service provided to help busy customers choose all of the foods they love when it works for them from wherever is most convenient for them. Customers then choose a time that is convenient to pick up their grocery order or have their groceries delivered directly to them.

How long in advance should a customer put in an order? Orders may be placed as little as 4 hours before a pick up or delivery slot. Also, all products available in the store are available online.

Who is a great candidate for using ShopRite From Home? So many people! Stay-at-home parents who would rather not tote young children through the grocery store, people who are homebound due to transportation troubles, illness and/or injury, people who are trying to achieve a work-home balance and could use a few less chores out of the home, and anyone who does not enjoy time spent in a grocery store!

Liz Schlosser, Marissa Romaniello, Eleana Fauleh, Kevin Caraballo, Nicole Tress

With the upcoming holiday season, is ShopRite From Home available? Yes, ShopRite From Home is available to help make the holiday season less hectic! The service is offered almost every day that the store is open, with a few exceptions. Place orders as early as possible though, as slots tend to fill quickly.

How do customers pick up their orders? Is delivery available? At the time chosen, pickup customers should pull into one of the designated Shop From Home parking spots located at the end of the building nearest the parking lot entrance from Rose Street. Our associates will see that you are waiting Fall 2019

and will come out to your car to greet you. No need to enter the store! Delivery customers choose one of five available delivery windows (9am-11am, 11am-1pm, 1pm-3pm, 3pm-5pm, 5pm7pm). Their order will be delivered to their home or office during that time period. We are pleased to have new technology in the Shop From Home Department. Now, when our customers opt in, they will receive a text, rather than a call about substitute items available for anything that is out of stock.

FROM GLAMOROUS TO GHOULISH:

HAIR AND MAKEUP WIZARDRY By Christine Maxwell, photos by Dan Epstein

F

rom glamorous to ghoulish or anything in between, it’s all about finding your unique look. Fritzi Gonzalez, a hairstylist and makeup artist at Shag 86, uses the snip of scissors or the stroke of a brush to create a unique you. Passionate about her craft and service to her clients, she says, “It’s all about the client, being the best you or someone entirely different.” With capabilities in hairstyling, makeup artistry, and special effects makeup, Fritzi executes her wizardry. Fritzi creates an individual look for each client based on their physical looks, lifestyle, and interests. “I am passionate about making them feel beautiful,” she remarks. A complete and thorough consultation begins the process. Hair painting is trending now. Popular is extreme colors such as red or pink on a few strands or many sections of the hair. But the perfect hairstyle and color is what the client wants and what looks best on her. Fritzi strives for a cut and color that enhances the client’s unique personal qualities. Perhaps Fritzi’s greatest passion is her makeup applications. At Shag86, she has a separate room dedicated to her artistry. There, she produces beauty and fantasy, dazzling and delighting her customers. The most significant trend in regular make up application is the dewy, natural look. For a daytime look, a good bronzer, highlighter, and a beautiful eyelash are fundamental. Nude colors for the lips finish the look, but a pop of vibrant color adds that extra spark. To transform a natural look into nighttime drama, she adds more color to the eyes, perhaps a purple eyeshadow or a smoky look in grays for glamorous eyes. Simple changes in color can transform the casual daytime look into a dramatic appeal for evenings, weddings, proms, and other special events. Special effects makeup is among Fritzi’s most considerable talents. Adds salon owner Gerald Ferraro, “I’m not familiar with anyone in the area who has Fritzi’s artistic skills in special effects makeup. Fritzi’s talents are a real gift. The looks that she can create are original and fantastical.” States Fritzi, “Of all the salons in New Jersey, I am blessed to be at Shag. They let me be myself, to express my talent, and to create a whole new world for my clients.”

A MAKEUP WIZARD!

W

ith Halloween fast approaching, Fritzi Gonzalez creates fantasy. Using her vast artistic and creative talents, she can create a pretty persona–a fairy or princess–or an extreme character, such a werewolf, zombie, or alien. “My imagination and the desires of the clients are unlimited,” she remarks. Achieving the fantasy may take an hour to 90 minutes, depending on the complexity of the makeup application. However, additional preparation by Fritzi is often necessary to complete the character. If prosthetics are needed, Fritzi delves into her artist’s bag of tricks and treats for molds, clays, beads, paints, and jewelry. Creations by Fritzi are original, fun, whimsical, and unforgettable! Passaic Valley High School Drama Club presents

Ken Ludwig’s,

Lend Me a Tenor

T

he play, which takes place in 1934, is about world-renowned tenor Tito Merelli who has signed on to play Otello at a Cleveland opera company in the fall of 1934. It's the biggest event in the Cleveland Opera's history. A sellout crowd and the members of the Cleveland Opera Guild will be at the opera house that evening to see the great Merelli. He arrives late and, through a set of crazy circumstances, passes out after mixing wine with a huge dose of tranquilizers. Believing that the divo is dead, the excitable opera manager taps his hapless assistant, an aspiring singer named Max, to suit up as the Moor and replace Merelli. Meanwhile, the tenor’s jealous wife, his ambitious female costar, Max’s young girlfriend and the flirtatious head of the opera guild are on the scene fighting—sometimes literally—for the star’s attention.

F

inishing touches leave lasting impressions. Bernard Rossi, the owner of Rossi Decorating Center of Little Falls, believes his company helps residents create that positive image. Below he discusses the many benefits of working with a small privately- owned business in developing your design.

Why purchase paint and decorating products from an independent dealer such as Rossi Decorating rather than a chain or big box store? Rossi Decorating Center continues a 100-year family tradition of offering the best products in decorating. Our shop’s employees have more than 50 years of experience and knowledge of decorating. We know our customers, many of whom have been clients for three generations. Buying from a chain or big box store may be convenient, but you may never see the same person twice. Our salespeople are here for you, and we maintain and personalize our clients’ information.

What special paint and decorating products do you offer? Not only does Rossi’s offer premium paint like Benjamin Moore, but we also offer a tremendous array of sundries. At our one-stop-shop, you can also find quality brand wallcovering, floorcovering, and window treatments. In addition to these products, we can also advise the best paint, the appropriate tools, and step-by-step instructions on how to achieve the desired results.

What is one fact that you would like readers to know that sets you apart from your competitors? We genuinely care about our customers. We provide them with the best guidance and the best products at the fairest prices. We love it when customers show us pictures of their completed projects. Mutual sharing and caring are unique to the small retailer experience. We always say, “You went to the rest, now you’ve come to the best.”

COLD LASER THERAPY

Relieve Pain, Restore Health Photos by Dan Epstein

C

old Laser Therapy is the most advanced healing technology to relieve pain, speed healing, decrease inflammation and regenerate body tissue. Professional sports teams use it on their athletes. The good news is you don’t have to be a professional athlete to reap the results, as NJ Spine & Joint in Cedar Grove is one of the few places to use the exact same technology. “Cold Laser is a regenerative treatment that is very effective on our patients,” says Dr. Glenn Sorrentino. “It works by emitting targeted beams of light energy, allowing deep transmission into the tissue. It’s completely safe and painless, has no side effects, and produces great results on many areas of the body.” Dr. Sorrentino uses Cold Laser as a key part of NJ Spine & Joint’s customized treatment programs, which include other effective treatments as well. “It’s important to have the right combination of treatments for the best results,” he explains. “Pain in one area is often the result of imbalance or weakness in another area. For example, knee pain is often caused by the hips being out of alignment, and shoulder pain almost always has a neck component.” In difficult cases, PRP Therapy, which is another regenerative treatment widely utilized in the sports world, may be used to repair tissue that has been damaged due to age, injury or wear-and-tear. It works by using a patient’s own blood,

Dr. Glenn Sorrentino which is drawn in the usual manner and then rotated in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma. That platelet-rich plasma, which is rich in proteins and growth factors, is injected by the staff medical doctor into the affected area to stimulate regeneration. NJ Spine & Joint offers free consultations by appointment. “It’s important for patients to understand what’s causing their pain and how we can help them,” says Dr. Sorrentino. “We have patients all the time who have had pain for years, and are amazed that their pain actually goes away with our treatment protocol.” NJ Spine & Joint is a multi-specialty center providing Cold Laser Therapy, Physical Therapy, Chiropractic, Medical Massage, PRP Therapy, Sports Therapy, Joint Injections, Trigger Point Injections, Digital X-ray and Custom Orthotics.

Cold Laser is good for pain in the neck, back, shoulder, arm, elbow, hip, leg, knee, ankle, heel and foot. The advanced technology helps many conditions, including headaches, tendonitis, sciatica, arthritis, numbness, tingling, spinal stenosis, disc herniation, muscle strain, muscle spasms and sports injuries.

HIGH QUALITY MORTGAGE:

SERVICE WITH A SMILE O

n an ordinary Thursday afternoon, life long Little Falls resident, Diane Dimattia received her Little Falls Magazine. Of all the ads that stood out to her, The High Quality Mortgage ad seemed to hit home. “I was turned down for a mortgage on a few different occasions, and I was never really given an explanation why. I saw High Quality’s ad, read the article and loved the message that they were spreading and gave them a call,” Dimattia said. “True to their word, they were able to meet me face-to-face, on multiple occasions, not only to explain the entire process to me but also to ensure that I fully understood the process. Within 30 days my loan was closed, saving

my husband and I hundreds of dollars per month. They got me the lowest rate possible and again, true to their word, had Zero fees and I left there feeling like a part of their family,” she continued. Matthew DiBrino, CEO of High Quality Mortgage, had this to say: “The day we received our courtesy copies of the magazine, Diane happened to call and we could not have been more thrilled. It was clear she was not getting the attention and service she deserved. She and her husband were a pleasure to work with and are definitely part of the HQM Family.” “Our business model is simple—Do the right thing for our clients and treat them like you would treat a family member. our Zero fees policies are what our business thrives on,” states High Quality Mortgage President John Fornino. “Do we lose money in not charging fees? Absolutely. Lakeland Mortgage Representative Amy Block Shares Advice for

Selecting a Mortgage Professional

W

hether it is finding a mortgage solution that helps someone purchase the home of their dreams or assisting a homeowner with a loan to consolidate their debt to save money, helping my clients is the most rewarding part of my job,” says Amy Block, Vice President, Mortgage Representative with Lakeland Mortgage, a division of Lakeland Bank. “I’ve been in this industry a long time, and the long-term relationships I’ve made over the years have been very gratifying.” Mortgage rates have substantially dropped in a short period of time and are at their lowest since 2016. Now may be the time for borrowers in the market to purchase a new home, refinance an existing mortgage or apply for a home equity loan to make significant home improvements. If you are in this position, finding a mortgage representative to help you with the process is one of the first steps to take. Block says it is important for borrowers to work with a mortgage representative when they are searching for these types of financing options. A reputable mortgage representative will help clients understand what they are committing to, determine what the borrower can realistically afford, and present the financing options that are available to meet the individual needs of the client. You want to find a mortgage representative that will be with you from the application to the closing. When asked what to look for in a mortgage representative, Block offered the following advice. “You want to get referrals

from friends, family and even your realtor… these are some of the best sources for finding a mortgage professional who has a sound, trustworthy reputation.” She also recommends working with someone who is licensed, knows the local market and, most importantly, makes you feel comfortable. With over 25 years of industry experience, Block has worked at Lakeland for 20 years. For more than half of her career she has assisted borrowers in Bergen, Essex and Passaic Counties, but also works with borrowers across New Jersey and in New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Florida. She is a seasoned-professional who understands the local market and is an expert at advising clients on choosing a financing option that will be most beneficial to them. For five consecutive years, Block received the Five Star Mortgage Professional award which recognizes mortgage professionals who provide quality services to their clients. Ready to take the next step? Call Amy Block at 201-836-8300 ext. 9 to schedule a free consultation. Geff Sanford & Bruce Sanford

A Really Long-Term Insurance Company Sanford Insurance Group Has Over a Century of Experience By Deborah Schapiro, photo by Dan Epstein

W

hen Geff Sanford says that his company, Sanford Insurance Group, has very deep roots in New Jersey and particularly Montclair, he isn’t exaggerating. The company was cofounded in 1896 by his great-grandfather (and namesake) George Foster Sanford. Geff and his brother Bruce are fourthgeneration co-owners; he notes that their uncle Dick Sanford “still helps us out on a part-time basis.” According to Geff, “We insure a lot of manufacturers and wholesalers, but we are definitely generalists.” In addition to large companies, Sanford insures momand-pop shops, landscapers, recreational sports teams, and more.

Sanford offers a wide range of insurance for businesses, all aimed at minimizing a client’s exposure to risk. These include traditional types such as commercial property, commercial auto, product liability and workers’ compensation, as well as newer policies insuring against cyber-liability. The company also offers a full spectrum of insurance policies for individuals and families, including life, health, long-term care and disability. In addition to the traditional home insurance, Sanford also offers condo and renters insurance. Individuals with precious heirlooms can purchase policies specifically protecting jewelry and other valuables, boats and other recreational vehicles, even classic cars.

Fall 2019

Geff points out that “We are independent agents, which means that we have access to many different companies, including big names like Travelers, The Hartford, Chubb and more. This allows us to shop around for the policy that best suits our clients’ needs and budgets. A company like State Farm, by contrast, can only offer their own policies.” This flexibility and attention to the customer’s needs explains the loyalty that Sanford Insurance Group has engendered over the years. Geff notes proudly that “We have both staff and clients who have been with us for over 30 years.”

Holiday Season

Come Taste the Difference!

By Janis Hashe, photo by Dan Epstein

E

very town needs a Casa Arturo,” wrote one visitor of the Little Falls restaurant, praising both the food and the atmosphere at the popular local eatery. And owner Arturo describes his restaurant as “a place where you can feel you are at home while eating out.” As the holidays approach, that’s the ideal combination for those who are either tired of preparing elaborate meals at home, want an alternative to turkey–or both, said Arturo. Casa Arturo will once again offer a special Thanksgiving package dinner, which can be booked for up to ten people, and Thanksgiving hours from 1 to 6:30pm. The chef, he reported, is hard at work creating the menu, which will include pasta, seafood–and, yes, turkey–entree options. Arturo recommends checking in on social media for updates on the final delicious decisions. Casa Arturo will also be open on both Christmas Eve day and Christmas Day, and it’s none too early to think about making reservations for all holiday meals, as the intimate bistro fills up quickly with happy diners. Arturo also noted that Casa Arturo can cater your family feast, but, again, bookings in advance are strongly suggested. Holiday parties, both office and private, are also being reserved now, for up to 30-40 guests, and Arturo will consult on the perfect menus. Stocking stuffer hint for foodies on holiday lists: Casa Arturo gift certificates will help bring in a tasty 2020.

How Breakfast is Enjoyed Around the World

W

hat do words like cereal, eggs, toast and pancakes bring to mind? Ask anyone adhering to a standard American diet, and they would readily reply: “Breakfast, of course!” But this is simply a result of longtime habit aided by some clever marketing. While most cultures do consider breakfast to be the most important meal of the day, what breakfast looks like varies greatly from place to place. The Japanese, for example, enjoy miso soup, fish, pickled vegetables and tofu in the morning. Koreans think nothing odd of having bulgogi, a dish made of marinated slices of beef or pork, popular in the U.S. but eaten for lunch or dinner. In Israel, it is not unusual to see cheese and olives on breakfast plates. And Jamaicans love a bowl of fragrant curried chicken stew to start their day.

Our name SE7TE refers to the seven original artisan pizza creations. Stop by to experience the wonderful flavors of wood fire pizza. We also serve many Italian favorites like calzones, pannini, antipasta and fresh desserts.

Diamond Minds

ON THE EDGE By Barry Farber

I

n grade school, I remember the feeling I would get leaning back in my chair to the point of balancing and almost falling back.

A quick jolt to my heart… but I liked that feeling. When I was 13 years old I got that same sensation from skateboarding in an empty pool and jumping my Schwinn stingray bike over 5 garbage cans. Getting airborne on a bike and skating vertical–where you feel that weightless sensation– is addictive. Those days I lived my life on my bike and skateboard, so going to the edge became more comfortable and controlled everyday…but I still fell a lot. Breakthroughs happen when you have the courage to do something new or against the grain to push your idea or skill to the edge. It also helps to not be afraid of falling. Falling isn’t failing as long as you don’t fail to get back up and use that knowledge and experience for more intelligent action the next time around.

“The secret to happiness is freedom... And the secret to freedom is courage.” – Thucydides

This summer I went down to Atlantic City with my film crew to the 25th Anniversary of the VANS WARPED TOUR. It’s a combination of top bands, Motorcross and a BMX and Skateboarding exhibition.

Barry Farber For this month’s Mind Your Business TV Special I featured the 10 Time World Champion Skateboarder, Andy Macdonald, who taught me how to ride the halfpipe and learn how to fall forward in life. He shared some valuable life lessons and I hope you enjoy watching it. You can see the show on the home page at www.barryfarber.com. “As long as I can remember I’ve liked taking risks. From riding my big wheel off jumps as a kid to pushing my limits with speed and jumps downhill skiing as a teenager. Maybe that’s what attracted me to skateboarding and why I took to it with such fervor and commitment. Skateboarding taught me lots of lessons in self-discipline, self-motivation and creativity, but perhaps the best lesson learned was simply being comfortable with pushing things to the edge. Not just in skateboarding but in life in general. If you learn to push everything you do in life to the limits of what is possible, you tend to get comfortable at the edge and it ceases to be “scary” or “risky.” It just becomes part of who you are. How you roll. Next thing you know there are people asking how it is that you’ve been so successful in life. I just tell them skateboarding taught me.” -Andy Macdonald Barry Farber & Andy Macdonald
