VAS-SAFE ΑΝΤΙ-BULLET BULLETPROOF GLASS

Another feature of Vas “Vasiliou Glass Technologies” laminated glass with the trademark VAS-SAFE is that they provide proved protection against criminal and terroristic attacks thanks to the specially designed compositions. In this way, they can absorb great amounts of impact momentums resulting in the avoidance of the bullet or bullet parts passing through the protected area. The category of bullet-proof laminated glass constitutes a marvelous solution for various cases of threat.

Their exterior does not differ from main glass but they offer a transparent obstacle against criminal actions. Each synthetic of the bullet-proof laminated glass not only does ensure the transparency and aesthetic neutrality of the end product but also its increased thickness gives a green color. That is why, plenty of times the synthetics of the bullet-proof laminated glass are chosen to be super-transparent glasses (lowiron) so as the end product to be tonally neutral. One more feature of bullet-proof laminated glass is the exceptional soundproofing that provide. Also, they offer great protection from UV radiations.

World of Glass September 2015

For the European countries, the standard for the bulletproof laminated glass is EN-1063. The bullet-proof laminated glass is categorized according to their resistance in various weapons and ammunition articles. It defines as glazing resistant to bullets, the one that is resistant in defined strain (firing range, bullet velocity, bullet weight, number of shots) against in fire-arming from specific weapons and ammunition. However, in certain cases, this may not be enough and to be required the last synthetic of the laminated glass to remain shatterproof after the impact having as a result the avoidance of fragment toss at the protected space. This is accomplished through once again specially shaped synthetics of the laminated glass.

According to the EN 1063, the separation of these two cases is made by both the characterization NS (NON SPALLING) and S (SPALLJNG). The categorization of anti-bullet laminated glass is based on the nomenclature of each synthetic (BRAND NAME) that corresponds to specific performance BR1 to BR7 (S/NS) and SG1 to SG2 (S/NS), certified by notified bodies according to specific methodology that describes the European standard EN 1063. Weapons with categorization from BR1 to BR7 (S/NS) are separated from shotguns of categorization SG1 to SG2 (S/NS) because of the different ammunition that they use. Based on the European standard EN 1063, the categorization of the anti-bullet laminated glass has nothing to do with its synthetic and exclusively depends on the resistance performance during the required tests in a notified body. Vas “Vasiliou glass Technologies” always in comply with the new European safety regulations provides to the market the anti-bullet laminated glasses that bring the trademark VAS-SAFE BULLET PROOF according to the European norm EN 1063 to all of the categories.

There are various significant parameters that have to be taken into consideration during the selection of the most suitable construction for a specific safety and protection level. Vas “Vasiliou glass Technologies”, through its technical advisers is more than a supplier-producer of anti-bullet laminated glasses as it provides consultation for the design and development of every construction that will match to your demands. Goal of Vas “Vasiliou glass Technologies”, through the advanced technology of its machinery and the addition of innovative production methods of pioneering products, is the thickness reduction of the anti-bullet laminated glass in combination with the increase of its resistance. The technology of the materials gives new raw materials such as polycarbonates, ionomers etc. which accomplish – with less weight and thickness- better performance in conditions of mechanical stress. It is a duty and goal of Vas “Vasiliou glass Technologies” to incorporate such kind of technologically innovative raw materials and therefore, through specially made synthetics to accomplish new improved in performance anti-bullet laminated glasses that are less thick and heavy.

The OCBC Skyway is the latest addition to Singapore's innovative project "Gardens by the bay," an aerial walkway that hopes to challenge the idea of urban spaces. The 18 giant "supertrees" are a completely different kind of skyscraper, providing spectacular views over the Marina Bay, which is due to house a number of gardens and tropical conservatories. The "branches" of the trees, currently still under construction, will work like garden trellises, a canopy of vines, flowers and leaves providing shade from the humid Singapore climate.

The world's longest glass-bottomed cantilever skywalk has been opened to tourists at the Longgang National Geological Park, Chongqing, China. The stunning walkway stretches an impressive 26.64 m (87.4 ft) into thin air, offering a breathtaking vista of the landscape. Built atop a cliff edge at the dizzying altitude of 1,010 m (3,314 ft), the walkway cost the Chinese government 35 million yuan (US$5.6 million) to construct and is a full 5 m (16 ft) longer than the iconic Grand Canyon Skywalk in Arizona.

The result is an impressive venue for tourists hoping to observe the breathtaking natural beauty that the national park has to offer, while battling bouts of vertigo and anxiety as they contemplate the 718 m (2,356 ft) drop to the rocks below. Terror-inducing walkways such as this appear to be a rising trend in China. April 2015 saw the reopening of the Tianmenshan crystal glass skywalk in Zhangjiajie, following a period of maintenance. While the mountainside path is undoubtedly a majestic piece of architecture, it's geared solely toward the more thrill seeking, daredevil tourists among us. However, this newest addition simply operates on another level. The apparent lack of any support afforded by the cantilevered approach adopted in the construction of the skywalk is sure to put China in the running for the most terrifying tourist attraction of all time (until Jurassic Park is realized).
