Don Milani Il Priore di Barbiana •https://youtu.be/29xAH0TXuKw
We chose this video based on the story of Don Milani because is very topical. In particular way, “Letter to a professor ” is considered Don Milani’s best work.
From an economic and technological point of view, a letter to a teacher belongs to another geological era. But from a social and political point of view it is still extremely current. A .well-documented pamphlet: a violent, very harsh indictment against school as a place in which class differences are perpetuated and defended. The problem of failures actually represents only a marginal aspect of the problem: the real problem that the letter addresses is the fact that Article 3 of the Constitution is not applied in schools, indeed totally disregarded and opposed.
The school cannot lose difficult children - says Don Milani: otherwise it is no longer a school, "it is a hospital that treats the healthy and rejects the sick".
Fifty years later, the Letter to a teacher continues to address its passionate moral and civil appeal to the teaching class: the revolutionary message of a priest who is convinced that laws must be respected when they are the strength of the weak and not when they sanction the predominance of strong, and that a master who loves the true and the right can change the world.
